Fact: Every Summer Look That Screams “Old Money” Includes This One Ingredient

    [ad_1]

Have you ever looked at someone on the street or on social media and wondered, “How do they always look so polished?” Some may attribute others’ enigma to having that je ne sais quoi or a stacked bank account that allows them to buy designer things. But the genuinely stylish people know that the secret ingredient to always looking good comes back to the staples. An arsenal of great basics can distinguish between looking busted or like a walking bank account. Whether you choose to spend thousands of dollars or under $100, the right foundational pieces can make you look (and feel) like a million dollars.

Of course, there are numerous staples that one can turn to give off “quiet luxury” vibes—from linen trousers to crochet pieces, the list goes on. But there’s one that stands out as an unsung ingredient: white skirts. During the summertime, there’s no better piece to rely upon to serve old money energy than a white skirt.

Don’t believe me? In an effort to show the value this staple can bring you, I’ve done a deep dive into how to wear a white skirt. Ahead, you’ll find 19 white skirt outfit ideas to wear during the summer (and beyond). Plus, I’ve shopped out some of the best white skirts to shop online right now. Fair warning: these outfit formulas look so decadent that they may cause onlookers to say, “Yes, chef.”

  • I’ve Never Been a J.Crew or Madewell Girl—These 33 Summer Finds Changed My Mind

I’ve Never Been a J.Crew or Madewell Girl—These 33 Summer Finds Changed My Mind

    [ad_1]

Everyone has brands that they go to and have gone to for decades to furnish their wardrobe. Through dozens of style evolutions and new, exciting trends, those brands have remained, proving that loyalty reigns supreme, even in 2023. Forever intrigued by this phenomenon, I regularly ask people to name-drop their tried-and-true labels, and when I say that their responses almost always feature one of the following two brands, I’m not exaggerating one bit. If you guessed Madewell and J.Crew, you’re on the money.

Classic, elevated, and timeless, both J.Crew and Madewell have built cult-like followings unlike any others. Until recently, though, I never fully understood the hype. Sure, I shopped at both over the years, picking up a sweater or a great pair of jeans. But when it comes to brands that I’ve frequented for much of my life, neither was ever one of them. The last few months have, however, seen a significant shift in my shopping behavior, resulting in me finding myself thinking about and buying items from both J.Crew and Madewell not only more than ever before but also more than any other retailer. Apparently, you can teach an old dog new tricks. All it takes is a shockingly pretty sundress and plenty of linen.

Below, check out the 33 summer items that are continuing to change my mind about J.Crew and Madewell.

12 Outfits That Prove This Shirt Style Is the Backbone of a Chic Summer Wardrobe

    [ad_1]

I was recently pondering what I wear the most during the summer in an effort to figure out what my wardrobe was missing, and it occurred to me that more often than not this time of year, I reach for striped shirts. It goes without saying that they work with everything and are an easy way to elevate a casual outfit. And while I’m talking about summer right now, they’re a year-round basic, especially since they can take the form of a T-shirt, a tank, a long-sleeve tee, or a button-down.

Coincidentally, there have been many striped shirt outfits that have stood out to me during my Instagram scrolls as of late, proving that they are indeed an easy avenue to a chic summer wardrobe. And the aforementioned outfits I scrolled through were worn by women around the world, proving that they’re a universal basic.

If you’re as big of a striped shirt fan as I am, scroll on for outfit inspiration and to shop similar striped shirts to wear all summer long.

  • The *One* Summer Pant Trend French and Italian Women Swear By

The *One* Summer Pant Trend French and Italian Women Swear By

    [ad_1]

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration centered around current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

If I had to pinpoint one item on my Instagram feed that I’ve spotted the most thus far this summer, I’d name white trousers without a second of hesitation. For reference, the people I follow are primarily involved in the fashion world or the industries surrounding it and mostly live in Europe—specifically France and Italy. Their outfits are, therefore, quintessentially French and Italian, and in the summer, that means they wear low-key yet dangerously chic ensembles that, nine times out of 10, involve white pants.

Despite how laissez-faire their looks appear online, they tend to be harder to re-create than you expect. It’s probably because of that whole je ne sais quoi thing that comes naturally to people born there but not so much for those who aren’t. Driven by my own frustration, I decided to put my own white-trouser selection to the test, using my skills in the styling department as well as my Instagram-induced knowledge of French and Italian fashion. The result? Seven summer outfits that are centered around the warm-weather bottoms that would fit right into either country between the months of June and August. Below, see how I did and shop the pant trend that French and Italian women swear by during the summer months.

This Styling Service Is Our Best-Kept Secret for Putting Together Summer Looks

    [ad_1]

In our Ask a Stylist series, we’re tapping a new expert each month to weigh in with all of their style insights. Return for a professional’s perspective on what to know in fashion.

I have spent far too many mornings staring into the void of my closet convinced I have nothing to wear—a scenario oh so familiar, right? Snapping a photo to my bestie or quickly scrolling through IG can help solve an outfit crisis, but sometimes you need to call in the experts. In this case, I’m talking about Stitch Fix’s team of personal stylists. I was fully under the impression that stylists were strictly for celebs, so when I first heard about Stitch Fix, I was immediately intrigued. All you have to do is fill out a quick online quiz about your personal style, and your stylists gets to work selecting your “Fix” of must-have items that will revamp your wardrobe. In the interest of spreading the word, I tasked our VP of influencer marketing and busy mom of two, Rachel Zeilic, to try it for herself. Stitch Fix stylist Lauren Nelson sent some items her way, and Rachel was able to mix and match them with pieces she already owned to create new, on-trend looks for summer. If you’re in an outfit rut, I suggest you keep scrolling to get some inspiration and try this service for yourself.

  • The Numbers Don’t Lie: 29 Best-Selling Zara Pieces That Will Sell Out This Month

The Numbers Don’t Lie: 29 Best-Selling Zara Pieces That Will Sell Out This Month

    [ad_1]

Even a seasoned Zara shopper like myself sometimes gets overwhelmed by the brand’s biweekly drops, each containing hundreds of new arrivals. What can I say? I’m human, too. Even so, like most Zara fans, I never want to miss out on the next It pieces, especially since, as a general rule of thumb, the brand doesn’t restock items once they sell out. (Exceptions are made on occasion for select basics and shoes.) Then, I got an idea.

Rather than spending hours scrolling through Zara’s new releases multiple times per week, I decided to go straight to the source to find out which pieces from the brand’s most recent product dumps are making the biggest impact on shoppers. In other words, I asked the brand point-blank what its best-selling items were right this very second. With the inside scoop, you (and I) now have everything in your toolbox that’s needed to shop the most in-demand Zara pieces of the current season. My suggestion? Don’t take long to decide which ones you want to add to your spring wardrobe. If I’ve learned anything from the last 10 years of shopping at Zara, this selection isn’t going to last long, and missing out on these 29 pieces simply isn’t an option.

I Dedicated 6 Hours to Shopping at Nordstrom, and These Were My Chicest Finds

    [ad_1]

I tend to go down rabbit holes when I shop online, opening up tab after tab until my laptop gets hot and starts humming, informing me that if I don’t go outside and take a breather, the spinning ball of death will arrive and never leave. Despite the potential threat, I’ve never learned to shop online any other way in my 27 years. Take my last full day of shopping, for instance. I spent roughly six hours scrolling and clicking on Nordstrom.com until my computer got so hot it nearly burned me.

One of the reasons why I’ve never been able to kick the habit is because the outcome is always worth it. And this last time was no exception. During those six hours, I put together a heavily curated shopping cart of 32 of the chicest finds I’ve discovered all summer, including everything from quiet-luxury staples to of-the-moment buys destined to bring forth compliments. 12 Easy Beach Outfits It Girls Wear on Repeat

    [ad_1]

Summer is in full swing, which means the arrival of beach days. There are a lot of experiences I relish in life (such as finding the perfect pair of shoes or jetting off to somewhere new), but nothing beats going to the beach. There’s something magical about soaking up the sun while waves crash against the sand. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say that getting to the beach is far from magical. I live in New York, so logistically speaking, it’s always a bit of a trek to the water. Then, there is another dilemma: what to wear. Sure, a swimsuit is an obvious move, but if you’re anything like me, you don’t want to look like everyone else on the beach. So what does someone actually wear to look stylish at the beach?

In search of that answer, I scoured Instagram to find 12 beach outfit ideas approved by the fashion set, and I shopped out the key pieces so you can create the looks for yourself. Replicating these ideas—from effortless summer staples styled with trendy swimwear to classic bikinis worn with extravagant accessories—will ensure you’re serving a look seaside all summer long.

  • 69 Items of Summer: The Extensive Wardrobe Checklist You Didn’t Know You Needed

69 Items of Summer: The Extensive Wardrobe Checklist You Didn’t Know You Needed

    [ad_1]

Curating a versatile, well-rounded wardrobe is no easy feat. It might seem simple, but between basics, statement pieces, and those in-between items that bring everything together, there’s a lot to take into account before entering a single credit-card digit. Plus, apart from those core year-round pieces, it’s essential to consider how styles change every season and every year, meaning that one always has to stay on their toes, prepped and ready to add or remove garments, shoes, and accessories at any given moment.

If only there was a checklist like the one we all got on the first day of school that listed off every notebook, marker, and folder that was paramount to our success in the 180 days ahead, but instead of school supplies, it would name wardrobe items for each of the four seasons. That way, no one would ever get caught up unexpectedly mid-season and have to scramble to find a core piece of their wardrobe after every option has already sold out.

That was my train of thought at least, which is why I went ahead and made one myself—starting with summer, of course. This list will allow you to easily and in a very organized manner (can you tell I’m extremely type A?) check off this season’s most necessary garments, shoes, and accessories one by one until your warm-weather wardrobe is complete. From every variation of ballet flats to the perfect white denim, scroll through the ultimate summer checklist below.

  • 11 Outfit Combinations That Will Have You Looking Like You Upped a Tax Bracket

11 Outfit Combinations That Will Have You Looking Like You Upped a Tax Bracket

    [ad_1]

Quiet luxury is all anyone can talk about right now and for good reason. The rising aesthetic is all about a chic and understated vibe that exudes a kind of quiet confidence. It’s elevated but totally effortless and hinges on a few key buys that are timeless, well-tailored, and versatile—but perhaps most importantly, devoid of any obvious logos or brand identification. It’s anti-viral fashion at its core.

But just because the phrase includes the term luxury, doesn’t mean that tapping into the look requires an arsenal of designer goods. In fact, it really comes down to a handful of outfit combinations, and they’re all comprised of simple, classic wardrobe staples that most of us already have in our closets. With that, behold 11 genius outfits that look so polished, people might just start assuming you’re in a much higher tax bracket.

I’ve found a ton of pieces that legitimately look designer but won’t set you back an arm and a leg.

So where did I find these beautiful pieces? Well, I scoured the internet, but some of my favorite current sources of affordable linen are Mango, Nordstrom, COS, and J.Crew, all of which are present and accounted for below. Though it’s now a part of my job, I was aggressively checking the new arrivals at all my favorite retailers long before I was a fashion editor. Since I could shop, I’ve been enthralled by the rows and rows of never-before-seen items that arrive in droves every season at stores like Zara, H&M, and Nordstrom. That fascination came in handy this morning when I set off to round up the best summer pieces that dropped this week at all three retailers above.

These Nordstrom Summer Basics Are *Chef’s Kiss*

    [ad_1]

If I had to choose one word to describe my summer aesthetic it would be “relaxed”—this is the season I really lean into laid-back looks and keep my outfits relatively simple. Maybe it’s the scorching temperatures, but I find myself wanting to put less energy into styling outfits and instead rotate through a series of more straightforward looks. That’s why I make it a point at the beginning of every summer to arm myself with a collection of quality basics to build my seasonal wardrobe around, as these are the pieces that do the heavy lifting. I always make sure my assortment of T-shirts, tanks, shorts, dresses, button-downs, etc. are updated to carry me through summer.

So with summer on the horizon, I started to take my annual inventory of seasonal staples and note the areas I need to fill in. Once I have that list, I always head straight to Nordstrom. I find the retailer’s basics game to be top-notch, with most of my favorite brands all available in one place. This season is no different, and I’ve curated quite the list of staples I’m currently eyeing to add to my closet. Below, I’m sharing my favorite elevated summer basics from Nordstrom, from cotton maxi dresses to tailored linen shorts to classic slide sandals, in case you’re in the market as well.
