Yes, You Can Wear Ankle Boots in The Summer—Here’s 16 Ways How

    [ad_1]

What items do you define as quintessential summer pieces? Maybe your list includes the perfect vacation dress? A trendy swimsuit? Or even a woven bag? No matter what’s on your list, it’s likely that each item has gone through a rigorous litmus test to make the cut. Sure, everyone may not spend copious amounts of time debating what’s the best footwear for summer. Still, it’s pretty common that a few slit seconds are spent thinking about what feels apropos for the season—e.g., putting on sandals may feel like a “better” footwear choice for a summer day than a pair of ankle boots.

Like it or not, we always return to our lists to help us navigate getting dressed every day. But, what if I told you that “practical” staples list, those everyday calculations are limiting your sartorial expressions? The beauty of a new season isn’t that you’re swapping out staples or buying recent trends; it’s the ability to see your closet with fresh eyes. Summer is an opportunity to take your most cherished items and make them feel brand new through styling. Because if you can’t wear your clothing year-round, what’s the point?

Of course, that’s easier said than done when you’re used to adhering to suggestions that you “shouldn’t” wear specific items in the summer—ahem, ankle boots, for instance. It’s not impossible, though, to break the rules. So, in an effort to prove that any “off-season” item can be relevant with the proper styling, I’ve rounded up 16 summer outfit ideas that show how to wear ankle boots in the summer. Whether you’re hoping to reboot your seasonal staples list or need simple outfit formulas to copy, these ensembles will push you to step outside the box.

  • My Mom and Friends Want New Dresses—I Sent These 30 Under-$100 Styles

My Mom and Friends Want New Dresses—I Sent These 30 Under-$100 Styles

    [ad_1]

As we head deeper into spring and summer is on the horizon, many people in my life have their sartorial thoughts laser-focused on pretty dresses. I get it. There’s something so easy (and chic!) about tossing on a lovely dress, adding a pair of sandals, and heading out the door. On that note, my mom and a few of my friends recently asked for dress recommendations. To note, my mom wanted a new floral silhouette that feels modern and current. One of my friends actually wanted advice on a cool LBD that could work for a few events she has coming up.

Below you’ll find a few of the silhouettes I suggested that actually happen to ring in under $100. I also rounded up a range of other styles I’m loving from retailers like Nordstrom, J.Crew, and H&M that are forward and look expensive, but don’t have those crazy-high price tags.

Madewell Is *Wildly* Chic Right Now—30 Summer Finds I’ll Truly Never Get Over

    [ad_1]

My goal is to look insanely chic this summer, and thanks to Madewell’s new arrivals, that dream is about to become a reality. I was perusing through some of my favorite go-to retailers and noticed that the Madewell items on Nordstrom were particularly chic. Curious to learn more, I headed to Madewell’s site and was blown away by the array of products I found.

Not only is Madwell clearly jumping on the quiet-luxury bandwagon via its “new classics” campaign, but the overall styling and design is also taking a very elevated turn. I found chic trousers, linen separates, timeless accessories, and more pieces that are about to guarantee I have that ultra-chic summer I was searching for. I have rounded up 30 of my favorite summer Madewell items because I think you’ll love them just as much as I do.

    I Check Nordstrom 7 Days a Week—51 Finds I’m Freaking Out Over

    [ad_1]

As crazy as it sounds, I shop for a living. (I know, talk about achieving your childhood dreams.) Being an editor, a large chunk of my 9-to-5 is spent scrolling through new arrivals, sale selections, and best-sellers, scouring the internet for pieces that stand out in a seemingly endless sea of options, all with the mindset being that if I do it, you won’t have to.

It’s this facet of my job description that brought me here today, ready to share with you all of the most eye-catching (and honestly drool-worthy) finds I discovered this week. And since Nordstrom’s selection has been nothing short of sensational lately, I figured I’d narrow down my list to just the ones there that deserve far more attention than they’re currently getting. That is, if you consider 50 items “narrowed down.”

Scroll down to shop what I believe to be the créme de la créme of Nordstrom fashion items at this very moment. Get your wallet ready. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be needing it.

I’m a Dress Snob—These 38 Are Pretty Enough to Pass My Test (By a Landslide)

    [ad_1]

Saying that I like to dress up would be the understatement of the year. Most days, I’m fully dressed (even when working from home, which I do most days) in heels and a dress, not to mention jewelry and accessories, by 9 in the morning if not earlier. Because of that, my standards for dresses have become quite high, with comfort, style, versatility, and more all factoring into my buying decisions in the dress department

Of late, though, I’ve started to get bored of the dresses in my current rotation, leading me to look elsewhere for new styles to add to my repertoire. Many hours and what felt like 10,000 dresses later, I narrowed my search down to just 38 options. Keep scrolling to shop the summer dresses that have my extremely hard to secure stamp of approval.

  • The Anti-Jeans Trend French and Italian Women Swear By Every Summer

The Anti-Jeans Trend French and Italian Women Swear By Every Summer

    [ad_1]

When I think of summer dressing, the first items that come to mind are denim shorts, tank tops, and sundresses. But that certainly isn’t the case everywhere. Sure, tank tops are a universal staple, just like linen frocks and an easy pair of cutoff shorts. But in some places, an entirely different garment reigns supreme when warm temperatures arrive, and it’s one we hardly give enough credit to here in the United States. And that, my fashion friends, is the white trouser.

White trousers are elegant, understated, and even billowy in the way only André Aciman, author of Call Me By Your Name, can adequately describe in words. In Italy and France, two summer destinations Americans often plan to visit months in advance, the white trouser is absolutely essential. Whether paired with a crisp poplin shirt, a ribbed tank top, or an oversized tee, there’s really nothing you can’t style alongside a simple pair of white slacks, no matter the material, shade, or silhouette. Linen or cotton, stark white or ivory, straight or wide leg—take your pick. Ahead, see for yourself the sartorial prowess of the anti-jeans trend that dominates Europe’s fashion capitals every summer.

  • 31 Chic Black Basics Nearly Every Fashion Person Will Be Wearing This Summer

31 Chic Black Basics Nearly Every Fashion Person Will Be Wearing This Summer

    [ad_1]

I may be in the fashion minority here, but I actually get quite tired of bright colors and white dresses in the summer. I’m more than happy to unironically wear an all-black outfit in the middle of July. I’m also more likely to pair colorful pieces with black basics than I am with white ones. I was thrilled to see lots of warm-weather black looks on the spring/summer 2023 runways, and it’s putting me in the mood to refresh my summer basics even more so.

If you’re someone who also likes to wear black in the summer, you’re probably aware that wearing it in full sun when it’s over 90° isn’t optimal. That’s why it’s important to shop for basics that are made of cotton poplin, linen, silk, and lightweight knit. There are plenty of options to choose from right now, so I narrowed them down to only the chicest.

Keep scrolling to shop my picks for the best black basics to prepare your wardrobe for summer.

  • 7 Things I’ll Never Wear to the Airport Again In the Summer

7 Things I’ll Never Wear to the Airport Again In the Summer

    [ad_1]

There was once a time when I didn’t think too hard about what I would wear to the airport. The only criteria was that it be cute and not too sloppy. But after years of being uncomfortable and annoyed by my outfit choices, I’ve finally reformed. I have some summer travel on the horizon, and there are a few things you can bet you won’t see me wearing in the terminal.

One of the more challenging things about dressing for the airport in the summer is changing temperatures. While airport terminals and planes are often freezing, it’s likely sweltering outside the airport. While I still struggle with what to wear to get around this temperature predicament, I’m always confident about what I’m not wearing on summer travel days.

Below is the list of items I’ll never wear to the airport in the summer and what you’ll catch me wearing instead.

  • And Now, The 35 Best Anti-Trend Finds From H&M’s Spring Sale

And Now, The 35 Best Anti-Trend Finds From H&M’s Spring Sale

    [ad_1]

A few nights back, in a bustling restaurant in Lower Manhattan, I regaled with fellow fashion editors over one specific topic: sale shopping. Regarding sales, some might say the allure of scouring the clearance section could be chopped up to a rise in endorphins, but it’s more than that. There’s something magical about finding a great deal both in real life and on the internet. It’s an experience that can enchant anyone (fashion editor or otherwise).

But even if you find sale shopping not that exhilarating, you likely know the importance of scoring a deal. With rising inflation, it’s more imperative to be intentional with what you’re buying, especially in the clothing department. You want to buy pieces that can be worn for extended periods while not breaking the bank. And what better place to do just that than at H&M? While most may consider the large retailer where to shop for “trendier” items, the truth is it has a treasure-trove of great staples.

What’s more, is that they offer great flash sales‚ including the one that’s ending today (4/30). Shoppers can get 15% off purchases of $60, 20% off $80, or 25% off $100, plus free shipping. It’s a great way to stock up on the essentials for half the price. But if you’re still dubious about what gems can be found at H&M, you’ll want to keep reading. I’ve done some deep-scrolling to identify 35 perfect spring-to-summer staples for any wardrobe. These items are not only timeless, but they’re sure to make even the most anti-sale shoppers get goosebumps.

6 Shoe Colors Perfect to Wear With White Dresses This Summer

    [ad_1]

To some, summer is swimsuit season. To others, it’s rosé season or picnic season. But for some, all that matters is that it’s white dress season. Nothing says summer to me quite like a white dress. And because they’re such a blank canvas, there’s a lot you can do to make a white dress feel fresh each summer. One of those things is switching up your shoes.

Shoe color trends are a thing, and you’d be remiss not to wear some of this season’s most popular colors (or most reliable neutrals) with your favorite white dress. The six shoe colors below are a mix of classic shades and trendy hues—and all of them look amazing with white dresses. Shoes in these popular colors abound on the market, but I found the chicest ones (as one does when they’re a Who What Wear editor). Scroll to shop them and some of my favorite white dresses for summer 2023, including the Reformation dress featured alongside each shoe color trend.

I Tested 7 Pairs of Lightweight Jeans in 90-Degree Heat

    [ad_1]

I’m someone who wears jeans almost every day. I’m also someone who lives in the hot and humid South, so wearing denim in the summer months is often a no-go. But a girl can’t live in shorts and dresses alone (at least this girl can’t), so I set out to find lightweight jeans that I can actually get away with wearing in the summer without sacrificing my body temperature.

As luck (or something like that) would have it, an intense heatwave recently appeared and I got to put a stack of lightweight jeans to the test. In choosing the jeans that I would try, I stuck to stretchy styles, most of which were below 11 ounces (denim weights typically run from 5 to 32 ounces). For the sake of variety, some of the styles were slim-fitting while others were wide-leg, but all of them were reflective of current denim trends and were created by some of the coolest denim brands on the market.

Keep reading to find out how I fared in my search for the best lightweight jeans to wear as the temperatures climb this summer and shop them for yourself.
