Why Yes, This Is a List of the Chicest Items at Shopbop Right Now

    [ad_1]

Shopbop is the go-to internet destination for some much-needed shopping therapy. As a fashion enthusiast, I frequent the site in search of unique items that I seldom find in department stores, such as a Ba&sh blouse or a beautiful pair of Oliver Peoples specs, which are a useful find for eyeglasses users like myself. Shopbop also offers a range of price points, making it a perfect site to peruse for budgeters and splurgers alike.

As we get closer to winter, it may be a good idea to stock up on quality sweaters, shoes, and wool pants. Heading into a new year, you may want to change up your wardrobe and make it conducive to the latest styles and trends. Perhaps you fancy a new pair of wide-leg jeans or a quality double-breasted coat. Maybe you’re on the lookout for some newer accessories, cashmere gloves, or a new evening bag.

With an extensive internet marketplace come many options—far too many options if you’re as indecisive as me—which is why I’m here to narrow them down to the most popular and fashionable ones. Below, find a specially curated shopping guide for in-vogue Shopbop pieces.

  • Brilliant Basics: Investing in Chic Wardrobe Staples—7 to Start

Brilliant Basics: Investing in Chic Wardrobe Staples—7 to Start

    [ad_1]

Let me start by saying that I’m an advocate for investing more in your elevated, everyday basics than your fancy special occasion things. You get to wear them all the time! They become the things that really form your style, much more so than what you dress up in to wear to some wedding.

I’m talking about cool flats that are so comfortable that you never wonder if you should wear them. The sweater you’ll reach for every single time you’re not sure what to wear. A chic tote that fits the everyday things you schlep around with, and makes your outfit rather than breaking it. Versatility and wearability are what makes pieces so worth investing in—if that’s what you’re into, I’m sharing excellent more affordable options as well as designer styles, so go ahead and take your pick of these hard-working, versatile staples that really are doing the most.

There’s no denying that I love a good sale. Since I was out of town and missed out on some major deals during Black Friday, I’m feeling a strong urge to get my fill of deeply discounted deals! While there are a number of sales going on right now, none have impressed me quite like Nordstrom’sJ.Crew’s and Banana Republic’s offerings. After scouring each site, I wanted to share the specific pieces that I think are really worth buying right now. • People in Paris Look Wealthier Even If They're Not—Here's Why

People in Paris Look Wealthier Even If They're Not—Here's Why

    [ad_1]

As an avid Real Housewives fan, I’ve gotten used to seeing women in splashy outfits. Logo mania looms large in the Bravo universe, which makes it the perfect form of escapism. My own sartorial tastes are decidedly more sedate. While I’ve never shied away from color or texture, I grew up in a household where the saying “take one accessory off before leaving” is gospel, and while I believe rules were made to broken, you have to admit that restrained dressing is becoming more and more of an art form.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock this year, the terms “quiet luxury” and “rich mom” dressing aren’t novel to you. But the French have been doing it for ages and doing it well. They know that dressing expensively doesn’t require draining your bank account, just discerning taste, smart investing, and pairing pieces well.

Read ahead to see how French women fake it (and by “it,” I mean money in their bank accounts).

  • I'm on the Hunt for the Ultimate Revenge Dress—These 29 Have Me in a Choke Hold

I'm on the Hunt for the Ultimate Revenge Dress—These 29 Have Me in a Choke Hold

    [ad_1]

I’m a firm believer that looking your best is the best revenge, and that’s where the concept of a “revenge dress” comes from. I’d like to think the revenge dress has been around as long as dresses have existed, but most of us think of that infamous black dress Princess Diana wore in the ’90s to a Vanity Fair party. The timing coincided with her estranged husband confessing his infidelity during their marriage. Princess Diana looked so good that just her showing up in it was deemed an act of revenge.

Ever since, women everywhere have been secretly shopping for that one dress that you keep in your closet as backup and only bring out when you really need it. A revenge dress needs to make you feel confident and tends to have a touch of sexiness. I don’t know when I’m going to need a dress that doubles as an act of revenge, but I do know that I don’t want to be empty-handed when the time comes.

I rolled up my sleeves and got to looking for the best revenge dresses on the market and found 30 that have some serious wow factor. Keep scrolling to see the 29 I’m loving right now.

  • 25 Pretty Shoes That Will Look Perfect With Every Pair of Jeans You Own

25 Pretty Shoes That Will Look Perfect With Every Pair of Jeans You Own

    [ad_1]

Listen. I take no pleasure in twirling out a clichéd phrase like “shoes make the man.” But tired, gendered connotations aside, the saying holds a kernel of truth: My shoe choice helps me tap into different sides of my style and personality. As an actress, I know that slipping on a specific pair of shoes can inform my choices. I’ve thrown on shockingly high heels (even if they stay out of frame) to help me lock into a character. What I put on my feet quite literally affects the pep in my step that day.

But anything that has the power to giveth can also taketh away. If you’ve ever stepped out of the house feeling invincible in a new pair of jeans, only to be brought down a peg when you catch a glimpse of your feet in a passing mirror, you know that the wrong footwear can undo an otherwise flawless ’fit. Volume, shape, and length come into play when toeing that delicate shoe-pant line.

I’m in a particularly giving mood this holiday season, so let my errors be your education. I’ve broken down five pairings so you’re never caught with your metaphorical pants around your ankles (unless they’re ankle cropped, which would look great with a pair of flats). Keep reading!

My Perfectly Curated List of Trendy Finds at Nordstrom, H&M, and J.Crew

    [ad_1]

I love the holidays. Even in Los Angeles, where we’re currently oscillating between moody gray days and blistering heat, I’m feeling festive! Maybe I’ve been bolstered by a relatively drama-free Thanksgiving, or perhaps it’s the siren song of holiday parties yet to come. Whatever it is, I’m feeling the cheer.

This holiday season, I’m trying to toe the line between treating myself to some frivolity while getting ahead of my style resolutions. For an impulse shopper and self-proclaimed procrastinator (yes, I have been driving around with donation-bound bags of clothes in my trunk since, uh, let me get back to you on that), this is a big deal. It’s a delicate balance to strike, but years of e–window shopping (aka filling up and abandoning carts) have paid off. I’ve scoured three tried-and-true online shopping meccas for the finds that will have you looking fabulous at all your holiday soirées and beyond.

  • 10 Stylish Brands L.A. Girls Know About That NYC Girls Don't

10 Stylish Brands L.A. Girls Know About That NYC Girls Don't

    [ad_1]

New York tends to get all the attention for emerging fashion brands, but this L.A. girl is starting to feel a bit, well, jealous. It’s just that the East Coast has shined in the spotlight as this country’s fashion capital for long enough, and biased as I may be, there’s a lot happening over here on the Pacific side of the continental U.S. that’s just as buzz-worthy.

In reality, I hate even comparing the two cities because they’re almost too different to warrant such a comparison, but I have a feeling the rivalry will persist, which is why I’m going out of my way today to point out the thriving scene of smaller indie and emerging names we Angelenos have. Don’t worry—I’m not trying to slam you, New York. I’m only trying to show that the following Los Angeles clothing brands are the kind that every stylish Angeleno knows about but won’t be spilling to her NYC friends anytime soon. Hey, we have to have some of our own nice things, right?

It’s only natural, then, that the overarching theme of the following 10 brands is of the laid-back, fun-loving, and—dare I say—”chill” variety that this sunny city is known for. Expect to discover everything from retro-inspired disco pants to romantic lingerie and cool basics in the below roundup. You might even find yourself arguing that L.A. is the better coast. (If so, I’ll have taught you well.)

  • I Never Wear Fussy Outfits, and These Simple Looks Are as Chic as It Gets

I Never Wear Fussy Outfits, and These Simple Looks Are as Chic as It Gets

    [ad_1]

Want to master the minimalist look, but afraid your outfits will veer too boring? Join the club. Pulling off a simple, streamlined outfit that turns heads without the use of prints, layers, or personality-infused accessories is quite the challenge. It’s amazing how some style savants have the formula down to a science, never missing a beat and always managing to appear effortlessly cool, even in jeans and a T-shirt.

What it actually comes down to is familiarizing yourself with proportions and the silhouettes that look good on your own body. When you invest in these well-made basics and take care of them, they’ll maintain their quality and you’ll feel confident mixing and matching them with your other refined pieces. The combinations you create won’t necessarily make for the loudest outfit in the room, but they’ll be admired for their luxurious sense of ease.

A few examples for starters? Slip into your favorite wide-leg pantsuit, but leave your chest bare from any jewelry and complete the outfit with white leather sneakers. Or throw on an oversize white tee with a floor-length maxi skirt, teaming up these two everyday separates for a monochrome moment. Finish with plain patent oxfords and a shiny shoulder bag, and leave your other eccentricities at home. In these instances, you’ll gain style points for the level of chic you reach without taking any sort of maximalist approach.

Ahead, find seven non-fussy outfits to try, and shop the essentials you’ll want to have on hand to recreate them.

  • How Celebrating Girlhood Quickly Became the Internet's Favorite Trend

How Celebrating Girlhood Quickly Became the Internet's Favorite Trend

    [ad_1]

Two thousand twenty-three’s undeniably girly fashion zeitgeist is a direct symptom, we’d argue, of this digital discourse. Enter the bow-embellished, ruched, ruffled, and lacy styles of brands like Simone Rocha and ShuShu/Tong. And while many trends may gain popularity within niche fashion groups, this one’s also backed by widespread purchasing power. When Miu Miu re-released its 2000s-era ballet flats in delicate satin, they were an instant hit (searches for them were up 75% between March and September). In Lyst’s Year in Fashion 2023 report, the younger sister to Prada took the Brand of the Year spot for the second year in a row, proving the strength trends like these have in the sartorial landscape.

While the aesthetic is reminiscent of one’s childhood, it also has been modernized by brands that mix current trends with whimsical and feminine details. Designers like Tory Burch and Balmain (who already have their own distinct identity) are still adding subtle nods to the trend within their recent collections. Amongst a sea of neutrals, Burch managed to fit in a bubble-gum pink mini dress seamlessly into her S/S 24 collection, which was promptly worn by Hailey Bieber. Olivier Rousting filled Balmain’s runway with rose-buttoned corsets, layered mini skirts, and floral motifs mixed with his classic bold designs.

Nostalgia is a repetitive element entwined into fashion. In times of crisis, it makes sense for designers and consumers to both revert to what provides them comfort. As Sandy Liang told The New York Times backstage before her spring/summer 2024 runway show, “I’m obsessing over something I can no longer return to.”

8 Skirt Outfit Trends to Try If You Want to Look Elegant This Winter

    [ad_1]

Wearing a skirt in the winter can be kind of tricky if you live somewhere that’s, well, wintery. But people are doing it anyway this year—because skirts are very popular. They may even be more popular than pants right now. I’ve noticed that stylish women are getting creative with how they style skirts as it gets colder, and I’m intrigued as I’ve acquired quite a few new skirts myself recently.

As one does when it’s winter and skirts are popular, I searched high and low for the best winter skirt outfits of the season so far, because as you know winter hasn’t even technically started yet and we have many months of warm outfits ahead of us. Each look that I landed upon happened to be quite elegant in its own way. (Even a pleated miniskirt can be elegant when styled the right way.) I Just Did a Ton of Trend Research—These 7 Shoes Will Dominate in 2024

    [ad_1]

The spring 2024 runways held plenty of new ideas. Designers introduced a slew of cool new trends that offered both a look into the future and a nod to the past. With so many trends seemingly happening at once, it can feel impossible to differentiate between what’s more niche and what’s more mainstream. Oftentimes, I prefer to make trend purchases that will last beyond the immediate season, which is why I’ve been thinking a lot about the 2024 trends that will last all year long, not just for this spring. I’m starting with my favorite topic of all: shoes.

After combing over the runways, my social media feeds, and the market, I’ve landed on the six shoe trends that I’m positive will have a long-term effect on 2024 and beyond. With the netted  flats inspired by the Proenza Schouler runway and the elegant patent-leather pumps that are currently having a renaissance, consider this list to be your North Star for all things stylish 2024 footwear.

  • Bruna Marquezine Is Currently Taking Up Every Spot on My 2024 Mood Board

Bruna Marquezine Is Currently Taking Up Every Spot on My 2024 Mood Board

    [ad_1]

Fans of Hailey Bieber‘s and Kendall Jenner’s style know the impact that stylist Dani Michelle has on the fashion world. Her clients, a list that also includes Nicola Peltz Beckham and Elsa Hosk, are guaranteed muses. And the latest addition, Bruna Marquezine, the Brazilian actress and model who’s currently taking up every spot on my 2024 mood board, is no exception.

“I am enchanted by [her] admiration and devotion to fashion,” Michelle told Elle Brasil of her new client. The duo started working together at the end of the summer, with Michelle’s first post of Marquezine arriving after the 2023 Variety Power of Young Hollywood event in August, for which she dressed the model in a Tory Burch dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. “She loves every stage of the art of dressing,” Michelle continued. “This makes our projects inspiring and creatively fulfilling.” Once you see the work they’ve done together since, you’ll understand what she’s talking about.

But while Michelle has no doubt brought about a heap of attention for Marquezine’s outfits since their working relationship began, she certainly didn’t turn the Blue Beetle star into a fashion icon. Marquezine did that all on her own, working with Chopard, Saint Laurent, Prada, and more, not to mention gracing the glossy pages of Marie Claire Brasil and Vogue Brasil.

From off-the-runway Bottega Veneta, Prada, and Ferragamo looks to party-ready ensembles by Alaïa and Defaïence, Marquezine is fast becoming one of fashion’s top names. Scroll down to see some of her chicest looks thus far, and keep an eye out for what’s in store for the model in 2024. My guess? You’ll be seeing a lot more of her fashion choices post–New Year’s Eve.

  • I Describe My Style as Simple—These Are the Key Items I'm Wearing in 2024

I Describe My Style as Simple—These Are the Key Items I'm Wearing in 2024

    [ad_1]

I like effortless dressing without a lot of fuss. Although I would categorize my style as simple, I wouldn’t say it is basic—far from. I love a good basic, but as a whole, there is something timeless and elegant about a minimalist look. I stock my wardrobe with uncomplicated pieces, so during the grand rush of a weekday morning, I can pull together looks that look like a million bucks and can be styled seamlessly with each other in a variety of ways. A great knitwear piece goes with everything from jeans to trousers to a midi skirt. A faux-leather trench coat can be mixed with a dressier outfit for date night as easily as it can with a sweat suit and sneakers on the weekend. These are the types of simple items that make up a well-organized wardrobe and, for me, make outfitting a breeze.

As we are soon to welcome a new year, I am adding a few things into my closet and letting you in on my special finds. My shopping list includes an oversize wool coat (winter has just started, after all), a barn jacket inspired by the Miu Miu S/S 24 runway, a new pair of Levi’s, and much more. There might be some trend-inspired items sprinkled in the mix, but overall everything possesses an easy feel that defines simplistic dressing. Keep reading to find my top 30 key simple items for 2024.
