I Describe My Style as Simple—These Are the Key Items I'm Wearing in 2024

    [ad_1]

I like effortless dressing without a lot of fuss. Although I would categorize my style as simple, I wouldn’t say it is basic—far from. I love a good basic, but as a whole, there is something timeless and elegant about a minimalist look. I stock my wardrobe with uncomplicated pieces, so during the grand rush of a weekday morning, I can pull together looks that look like a million bucks and can be styled seamlessly with each other in a variety of ways. A great knitwear piece goes with everything from jeans to trousers to a midi skirt. A faux-leather trench coat can be mixed with a dressier outfit for date night as easily as it can with a sweat suit and sneakers on the weekend. These are the types of simple items that make up a well-organized wardrobe and, for me, make outfitting a breeze.

As we are soon to welcome a new year, I am adding a few things into my closet and letting you in on my special finds. My shopping list includes an oversize wool coat (winter has just started, after all), a barn jacket inspired by the Miu Miu S/S 24 runway, a new pair of Levi’s, and much more. There might be some trend-inspired items sprinkled in the mix, but overall everything possesses an easy feel that defines simplistic dressing. Keep reading to find my top 30 key simple items for 2024.

  • I'm Convinced That This $20 H&M Accessory Is the Secret to Looking Rich

I'm Convinced That This $20 H&M Accessory Is the Secret to Looking Rich

    [ad_1]

There are certain items that fashion girls just know will take an outfit from 0 to 100, or better yet, from $50 to $5000. But unlike some people, I don’t like to gatekeep. In fact, I’m so gabby, I can hardly keep anything in for long. And of all the outfit-making pieces that myself and the rest of this industry swear by to elevate any and every ensemble, none do the job as well as a good belt—period.

Because of my sharing nature, this story was my first stop after I stumbled across what I can only describe as the chicest and most designer-looking belt on the market, an item that just so happens to cost only $20 and be in stock in every size. Courtesy of H&M, the belt in question is crafted out of a subtle croc-effect black faux leather with gold, Western-style hardware. And while it only just dropped, given how nothing lives on the shelves at H&M for long—trust me, I’ve been burned by the retailer’s speedy sell outs more than once—it is essential that you and I both act fast if scoring the below waist embellisher is a priority, which it certainly should be. Scroll down to snag one before it’s too late.

What comes to mind when you think of white shirts? For me, it’s officewear. It’s the ultimate boardroom-approved item of clothing that always looks professional and put together. Words that don’t come to mind? Fun, festive, and party-ready. However, Jennifer Lopez made her white shirt look like all three adjectives.

In a new Instagram post that’s quickly racked up nearly half a million likes, J.Lo poses by a Christmas tree looking like the epitome of holiday cheer. She made a “boring” white poplin blouse look merry and bright by adding a beautiful brocade circle skirt, embellished belt, and fun shoes. 5 Winter Basics to Own If You Refuse to Follow Trends

    [ad_1]

If, like me, you’ve been reading Who What Wear religiously for the past decade, then you know that nothing is boring about great basics. Just a bit shy of “uniform dressing,” without committing completely to a capsule wardrobe, a closet full of just a few winter basics is all that’s needed to get through the season in style.

That’s not to say you need to wear them all at once—in fact, we suggest mixing at matching these key winter basics with whatever you already have on hand. That’s the point, right? Great basics go with everything and can be worn regularly without compromising your personal style

This season, we recommend shopping for (and perhaps investing in) these five simple wardrobe staples: a camel-colored coat, classic black blazer, chunky white knit sweater, straight-leg jeans, and Chelsea boots. That’s it! And, if you already have a few of these items at your disposal, great — do some quick “girl math” and use that savings to invest in a top-quality piece that you’ll be happy about wearing for years to come. Ready? Let’s shop.

  • I've Planned Weddings for 12 Years—Here's What to Wear to a Rehearsal Dinner

I've Planned Weddings for 12 Years—Here's What to Wear to a Rehearsal Dinner

    [ad_1]

I would love to hear your story of how you got into events.

I worked in luxury hotels for over 15 years, and part of my role in sales was hosting client trips to our various hotels across the world to experience all that we had to offer. Internally, I was planning receptions, dinners, and once-in-a-lifetime excursions. I just loved that! One day, a client commented that she wished she had met me three years prior, as I would’ve been the perfect person to plan her wedding. From that moment, the seed was planted, and the rest is history. I began my company in the UK and have worked on events all over the world. I eventually expanded to open an office in San Francisco to manage better our clients’ parties and weddings for all destinations.

What’s your favorite event you’ve ever planned?

I planned a truly magical three-day wedding in California last summer. It was originally scheduled for 2020 in Europe. However, due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, the couple opted for something closer to home. The second day was the Punjabi wedding, which took place on a private estate in Woodside, California. As soon as I saw the Roman pool, I had a vision of guests lounging under pastel tents as floral canoes sailed by. What made it extra special was the friendship forged with the couple and their families after more than three years of planning and changes to their wedding plans. It will always be a special one for me, and the result was not only personally fulfilling but also breathtaking.

Do you have any initial thoughts when I say “rehearsal-dinner outfit”?

When I hear rehearsal-dinner outfit, I think of something chic, stylish, and perfectly accessorized. It does depend on the location and style of the event, but no matter what, nothing too bold or attention seeking. Never overshadow the wedding-day look the night before.

  • The One Winter Outfit Combo Every Royal Owns

The One Winter Outfit Combo Every Royal Owns

    [ad_1]

When you’re a royal, there are a lot of fashion rules to follow. And, although restrictive, it is for good reason. From the color of your nail polish to the length of your tennis shorts, every element of an outfit is photographed and then scrutinized by the public. So it’s no surprise that several of the most fashionable members of royal families around the globe have come up with a few styling tricks that adhere to attire guidelines without compromising personal style preferences. The easiest and most frequently observed formula is monochrome dressing, and in the winter, that means sporting shades of brown from head to toe, including outerwear.

During the fall and winter months, people tend to gravitate toward darker hues like black, navy, and gray. But royals, for better or worse, need to stand out in crowds and photograph well, with and without a jacket. That’s why almost every royal has been spotted in a camel-colored wool coat when stepping out for events in the cold. It’s a neutral shade and fabric that pairs well with browns across the spectrum and materials including cashmere, silk, and cotton.

Eager to test out this foolproof royal outfit combo for yourself? Start with the coat—you need just one—then stock up on dresses, boots, and pumps to mix and match throughout the season. It’s the easiest way to create a mini capsule collection that’s fit for a queen.

  • Think You Already Have a Favorite Perfume? I Found 8 That Will Change Your Mind

Think You Already Have a Favorite Perfume? I Found 8 That Will Change Your Mind

    [ad_1]

I’m going to let you in on a little-known perfume secret: When a floral perfume smells particularly delectable, it’s likely due to the addition of one note. That note is orange blossom, and when it’s added to fragrances, they morph into something truly delectable.

Orange blossoms are gorgeous white flowers that bloom on orange trees. They’ve been blended into perfumes for centuries and have even been touted as an aphrodisiac. Orange blossoms work so well in perfumes because their scent is so complex—they don’t just smell floral, but they also have notes of citrus, honey, and even greenery. Orange blossom oil (also known as neroli oil) is really potent and a little goes a long way, so perfumers consider it a specialty oil.

You’ll likely find whiffs of orange blossoms in a lot of your favorite perfumes, as they add a certain je ne sais quoi to just about everything they touch. I’ve rounded up my eight recommendations if you’re on the market for an orange-blossom-centric scent—so get ready for the endless compliments to roll in.

  • I Only Wear Flats With Jeans—These Are the Styles I'm Wearing in 2024

I Only Wear Flats With Jeans—These Are the Styles I'm Wearing in 2024

    [ad_1]

Denim and flats make a pretty unparalleled combo for me. On the daily, I am running to and from brand appointments, schlepping my laptop on the subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan and back, normally not returning home until after dinner. Fussy outfits are a no-no, and uncomfortable shoes just won’t do when you’re running all over town for 12 hours a day. Flats with jeans has become my perfect outfit godsend, a solution for both my achy soles and the daily dilemma of what to wear. No longer am I subscribing to trendy footwear (although, let’s face it—flats have been having a moment) or stuffy outfits. I have been opting for comfort instead.

That’s not to say that I have become lazy with my dressing. Flats with jeans actually can be quite stylish. When styled in a classic way—my go-tos include a good blazer, leather belt, and simple T-shirt—the combination is timeless. From the ever-present mashup of straight-leg jeans and loafers (I’ll admit I own at least four different pairs of G.H.Bass Weejuns) to the mix of slouchier, wide-leg jeans with ballet flats (hitting directly on a wearable way to do ballet-core), I know these will become instant repeats in your weekly outfit rotation. Take a peek below at some of my favorite flats-and-jeans combos to inspire you.

5 Major Sneaker Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 2024

    [ad_1]

As sporty clothing and accessories continue to carve out an even bigger presence, we’re keeping tabs on how that is playing out on the runways and in the wardrobes of the style set. Sneakers, too, have reached peak demand, and we’re taking a closer look at the key trends to know for 2024.

Styles like retro sneakers are already big, but interest isn’t slowing down. Instead, fresh styles are gaining momentum. I Just Came Back From Copenhagen— This is the Sneaker Trend I Spotted Everywhere

    [ad_1]

It’s no surprise that the stylish, colorful Scandi crowd has a few sartorial rules they live by. Number one: an outfit is (nearly always) boring if you’re wearing all-black. Number two: flat shoes are an essential if you’re walking or biking anywhere in the city.

After spending almost a week in Copenhagen earlier this fall and winter, I’ve got to admit, I’ve been coming around to the colorful sneaker trend that the Danish set swears by. I picked up not one, but two (!!!) saccharine sneakers while I was in the Scandi city and, as expected, they don’t disappoint.

While colorful sneakers can be daunting to style, though, there’s a few outfit formulas that the  Copenhagen crowd has perfected to a science. Below, scroll for colorful sneaker outfit inspiration and shop some of the best, can’t-miss pairs of the season.
