  • Prince George Reportedly ‘Devastated’ by William & Harry Drama—There’s a ‘Noticeable Hole’ After His Uncle ‘Left’

    [ad_1]

Family drama always ends up having far-reaching consequences. That’s the thing with family drama. Everyone’s connected. So, when father and son fight, that affects siblings. And then siblings fight, which affects nephews and nieces. And that doesn’t change when the relationships in the middle of a dispute are the ones between Prince William and Prince Harry, and the one feeling devastated by the feud is Prince George.

RadarOnline.com is reporting that Prince George was “devastated” after Prince Harry moved to the United States, and has found a new “fun uncle” in Mike Tindall. The 12-year-old was reportedly especially close to his uncle Harry before the Duke of Sussex moved with his wife, Meghan Markle, to California.

“George was very fond of Harry and really felt it when he went. Harry was the uncle who got down on the carpet, played around, and always made him laugh,” one family source told the outlet. “His departure left a noticeable hole in George’s life, and it was clear the family needed someone else to take on that role,” the aide continued.

Another courtier added, “Mike has taken on the role in a way few anticipated. He’s obviously devoted to his own children, but he’s also carved out time for William and Kate’s kids.

“George clearly admires him, and the happiness is obvious when they’re together. He’s effectively become the new fun uncle in George’s life.”

Mike Tindall, who is married to Zara Phillips, the oldest daughter of Princess Anne, has stepped into that role for Prince George. “Mike has naturally stepped into that space,” another insider said. “He’s easygoing, fun, and never too formal – which is just what George needs. Being the eldest, George already carries a sense of responsibility, so Mike brings some relief.”

“He can joke, play, and show affection, giving George the kind of carefree connection every child needs. It’s been hugely important.”

Evidence of the close bond between the two, according to body language expert Judi James, is last year’s Christmas gathering at Sandringham. James pointed out that Tindall pulled George into a hug and kissed him on the head while the prince and his siblings were greeting well-wishers. “Mike just took over the action,” she said.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry spoke warmly of being an uncle and the excitement surrounding George’s birth. “I looked forward to popping in all the time. Look! It’s Uncle Harry! ‘Ello, Just thought I’d stop by. Holding a bottle of wine and an armful of kiddie presents. Dropping to the floor and wrestling with little George.” He also admitted feeling a sense of responsibility for William’s children.

A royal aide said: “Harry was always eager to play a part in George’s life and had a strong protective streak. But being so far away now means that space has naturally been taken by someone else.”

“It’s not that George doesn’t remember Harry – he absolutely does – but children need someone who’s there day-to-day, not just in stories or recollections,” the aide also said.

The role Tindall plays these days seems to be important. “Mike has taken on the role in a way few anticipated. He’s obviously devoted to his own children, but he’s also carved out time for William and Kate’s kids,” another source added. ”

For kids, the more good role models, the better. But if Uncle Harry wants to come back into Harry’s life, that would also be a good thing.

  • Prince Harry Has to “Pass the Trust Test” to Mend His Relationship With King Charles, Says Source

    [ad_1]

It’s not just Prince Andrew who won’t be celebrating Christmas with the royals at Sandringham this year. Prince Harry will also not be getting an invite, according to a friend of the royal family.

Despite Prince Harry’s recent face-to-face meeting with King Charles, “it’s not the case that Harry is going to be welcomed back with open arms and certainly not in time for Christmas,” a friend of the royal family told Vanity Fair. “As far as the king is concerned, the door has always been left open for Harry, but Harry has to pass the trust test. If he does, then I think there could well be another meeting in the new year.”

Although King Charles has been willing to meet with Harry, Prince William has “no intention” of speaking to his brother, the source said. “With things being so dire between William and Harry, I’m not sure Harry would even want to be at Sandringham for Christmas,” the source added. “It would be very awkward. He knows he’d probably get quite a frosty reception from most of the family.”

Prince Harry has not spoken to his brother since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in 2022, according to The Sun. William was said to be upset with how Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were standing down as working royals, but since then the relationship has deteriorated following Harry going public about why he left Britain. In addition to Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah, the publication of his explosive memoir, Spare, included many damaging revelations, including an alleged physical altercation between the brothers.

Harry has, however, said he wants to reconcile with his family and recently met with his father during a visit to the UK. However, following that meeting. A source told The Daily Mail that Harry has accused “men in gray suits” (King Charles’s advisers) of trying to sabotage his attempts to reconcile with his father. Harry has taken aim at palace courtiers in the past, referring to their “Machiavellian maneuvers” in his 2023 memoir, Spare. But palace aides have dismissed as nonsense the suggestion that they tried to sabotage the reunion, as King Charles’s head of press negotiated the meeting with Harry’s director of communications this summer, which eventually led to the estranged duo’s September 10 meeting.

Harry is said to be desperate to repair the rift with his father and family. This week, he hit back at a report in The Sun that the meeting with his father had been “distinctly formal.”

“Recent reporting of the Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son,” a spokesperson for Harry said. The Sun reported that Harry had given King Charles a framed photo of his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The spokesperson did confirm that Harry had given his father a framed photograph, but said that the “image did not contain the duke and duchess.”

When reached for comment by Vanity Fair, a spokesperson for Prince Harry declined to comment on his Christmas plans. Buckingham Palace did not respond to a request for comment.

  • William Reportedly ‘Disgusted’ by Harry’s Attempt to ‘Manipulate’ Cancer-Stricken Charles While He’s ‘Still Alive’—He’s ‘Sickened’

    [ad_1]

Prince William is indeed past the point of no return when it comes to his brother Prince Harry. Now that the Duke of Sussex has reached a reunion with King Charles, the Prince of Wales isn’t pleased at all.

“It sickens William that Harry has wormed his way back into his father’s affections,” a source told RadarOnline. “To him, it’s just wrong on every level — and utterly ridiculous.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King had a private tea with the Duke of Sussex at Clarence House and said no additional details would be shared. After their 55-minute meeting, Prince Harry was smiling as he entered the car. “The fact Harry now has this direct line back to the family – despite all the pain and misery he’s inflicted – simply defies belief. William is totally bewildered and frustrated that it’s being sanctioned. It totally changes royal history.”

They continued, saying that King Charles’ cancer treatment is a big factor: “William’s big point is that there’s no evidence to suggest Harry has changed. He’s convinced this groveling effort is part of an overall plot for the Sussexes to hold on to their precious titles and try to salvage what they can from the monarchy, while his father’s still alive to be manipulated.”

Related: William Just Gave a Telling Update on Where He Really Stands With Charles After Reports He’s ‘Infuriated’ by His Dad’s Reunion With Harry

However, William’s behavior is causing concern for other members of the royal family. “The king and others – Kate included – are urging William to show mercy and give peace a chance, but he’s saying that’ll happen when hell freezes over.

“Harry may have wormed his way back into Charles’ heart, but it’s going to take a lot more to prove to William that he’s changed,” the source concluded

It lines up with other reports about William’s attitude towards Harry. According to the Daily Mail, the heir to the throne is angry that his brother is being welcomed back by their father. “William is back at the point where if you mention Prince Harry in his presence he would throw you out of the room,” a palace insider told the outlet. “He’s doubling down.”

The reunion between Charles and Harry proved to be successful for the latter. The Duke of Sussex told The Guardian that he would like to visit his father more often because of his cancer battle. “The focus really has to be on my dad,” he told the outlet. He also now seems to be willing to bring his kids to the UK, something he’d previously said he wouldn’t do. “Yes, I would. This week has definitely brought that closer,” he said.

  • William & Kate Split Report Resurfaces Months After He Secretly Hired Divorce Lawyers

    [ad_1]

Remember a few months ago when Prince William hired divorce lawyers and everyone was worried that meant he was, you know, getting a divorce? But then, at the time, the move was merely spun as him trying to break away from his father by hiring new representation, and since he and Kate seemed to be doing well, everyone accepted it. Well, new reports are now surfacing about a different time when the two split, which puts that rumored troubled time in their marriage into perspective.

Back in 2007, Prince William and Kate Middleton famously split and then got back together. And on Valentine’s Day 2008, William was determined to show Middleton that he was serious about their relationship. At least that’s what Grant Harrold, King Charles III’s former butler, says in his memoir, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service.

Related: Did William really cheat on Kate?

“When they got back together, it was fresh, it was like a double boost,” Harrold wrote. “They both were making more of an effort. … [They had] this romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day, which they asked me to do, which they had never done before. They hadn’t done anything like that before. Suddenly, they wanted to do that. I felt that [William] was saying, ‘Look, I’m serious. This is going to up a level.’ That’s what I felt.”

“And, of course, a few years after that, they carried on,” Harrold added, “It was almost like a reset button, but this was serious. The first time around, it was boyfriend-girlfriend, ‘Oh, let’s eat here, let’s chill here, let’s do that.’ Suddenly, it was a bit more, ‘I’m serious, and I’m going to show you I’m serious.’ That’s how it came across, which was amazing.”

The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service

The butler recalled how he had offered a formal dinner for the couple ever since they went public in 2004, but they always laughed it off. But when Valentine’s Day 2008 approached, William suddenly said, “OK, let’s do a dinner, if you’re happy to.”

“I felt truly honored and delighted that William had taken me up on my offer,” Harrold wrote. “Even though it was a typically chilly February evening, we planned for it to be outside the main house, at the top of the Thyme Walk, the stunning avenue of clipped golden yew and herb bushes bound on two sides by a pleached hornbeam hedge that leads down to the lily pond at the bottom.”

Harrold worked for the King’s household from 2004 to 2011. “I left after they got married, so at least I got to actually see that part of their lives,” he said. “And it was a good time also to have left because they left Highgrove. My role would [not have] been looking after them anymore, and I loved looking after them.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton weren’t broken up for long in 2007, and after they reconciled, the relationship got stronger, and eventually the two went on to marry in 2011 and now have three kids together. And though they have had to contend with plenty of divorce rumors since then, as happens to many couples in the spotlight, it seems like they are stronger than they’ve ever been.

  • Kate Faces ‘Horrific’ New ‘Crisis’ After ‘Unbelievably Cruel’ Cancer Experience

    [ad_1]

It’s been weeks since Kate Middleton debuted her new blonde look and quickly retracted it, but friends of the Princess of Wales are coming to her defense. After her cancer treatment, she has been working hard since her remission.

Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out to see the Natural History Museum’s newly transformed gardens on Sept. 4, and the Princess sported blonde locks with her signature curls. Netizens immediately criticized the look, with some claiming it was a wig. A friend of the royal told RadarOnline, “Kate came back from her summer break feeling positive, only to be slammed over her appearance. She admitted it left her anxious and doubting herself. After receiving so much kindness since her diagnosis, being torn down over something trivial was really tough.”

“Kate has always shown strength, but this autumn has been relentless,” a friend said, referring to King Charles’ cancer treatment and Prince Harry’s reconciliation efforts with his father (which William is heavily opposed to). “With the family tensions and criticism of her appearance, she’s questioned how much more she can cope with.”

    Kate Middleton

Despite it all, Kate knows how to keep her head high. “Even at her lowest, Kate managed to compose herself,” a source elaborated. “She knows public scrutiny comes with the role, but the cruel comments still hurt. Now she’s channeling her energy into regaining strength and carrying out her work.”

When social media users called the wig unflattering, the insults dug deep. “It is her armor,” said one source. “But she’s determined not to let criticism about it define her.”

Related: The Damning Ultimatum Charles Gave Harry After Their Reunion: ‘The King Has Been Absolutely Clear… ‘

“Some of the remarks were vile,” another source told the site. “People were mocking her, calling the blonde look a wig to cover bald patches.”

“Given what she’s been through, that sort of trolling is horrific,” they continued. “She’s worked hard to be open about cancer but also dignified – it’s disgusting that people use it as a weapon against her.”

A second insider said, “Kate is deeply committed to her role and never grumbles. Still, she’s only human. After enduring months of chemotherapy, changes to her hair are an inevitable reality. Mocking that is unbelievably cruel.” The Princess of Wales notably changed her hair color back to brown following the backlash.

Amid the hate comments, Sam McKnight, who worked as Diana’s personal hairstylist for seven years before her death, took to Instagram on Sept. 4 to defend Prince William’s wife’s hair makeover. “I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today,” he wrote in a post. “A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armor, defense, confidence and so much more.”

He continued, “I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married and the role she took on, to bravely face the public.”

  • Charles ‘Health More Fragile Than Reported’ as William & Kate Expected to Take the Throne ‘Sooner Than Either Imagined’

    [ad_1]

Things are getting more serious for Prince William and Kate Middleton. With King Charles’ health deteriorating, the Prince and Princess of Wales are taking up more royal duties, and their efforts aren’t going unnoticed.

“Behind the scenes, there are murmurs Charles’ health is more fragile than reported,” a source told RadarOnline about the monarch’s cancer treatment. “William and Kate are acutely aware it could mean stepping up sooner than either imagined.”

According to the tabloid site, the couple seemed more somber and tense than usual. “William and Kate remain strong as a couple, but the strain is showing. Harry’s meeting with Charles has reopened old wounds. Kate would like to see some form of peace, but William is firm. He feels Harry must earn back trust before they can even think about it.”

Related: The Damning Ultimatum Charles Gave Harry After Their Reunion: ‘The King Has Been Absolutely Clear… ‘

After their summer break, William and Kate made a joint appearance at the Natural History Museum. Kate debuted with blonde hair and was immediately met with troll comments. “It was a difficult appearance for them. Given the weight they’re carrying, it’s no surprise if a little tension showed.”

Prince Harry reunited with his father on Sept. 10 for a private tea. Though the reunion was successful, a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex told People: “The duke has made it clear that the focus is his father. Beyond that, and on any other issues as it relates to his family, we won’t be commenting.”

Prince William has been clear about his stance against his brother, with multiple sources saying that he would have stopped it if he had known. “Kate means well and wants what’s best for him,” a source told RadarOnline. “But William believes this is a moment for caution, not making peace. That difference in outlook adds to the strain they’re under.”

Speaking about the two brothers, King Charles’ former personal butler, Grant Harrold, told The Post, “William is worried that with the stuff Harry has said, he could use it to his advantage again … like he’s already done. I think, sadly, they don’t trust him. It’s a shame, because Harry wants them to.”

  • Prince William Has “No Time” for Prince Andrew

    [ad_1]

Prince William is in Scotland this week enjoying some quality time with his father, King Charles, for what has become an annual father-son holiday.

Royal sources tell VF that the trip has become a “much looked forward to” date in the diary for both William and his father, who they insist are closer than ever, despite recent reports that the Prince of Wales does not see eye to eye with Charles over several issues regarding the royal family—principally over the King’s recent meeting with Prince Harry and the very public inclusion of the Duke and Duchess of York at a recent family funeral.

“They are both in Scotland and will see each other, but it’s in no way connected to recent family dramas,” a source tells VF. “They speak very regularly, and there has been no fallout.” Buckingham Palace declined to comment on speculation about the king’s relationship to his eldest son.

Their time in Scotland, a country they both love, will, however, give the king and heir a chance to discuss some important matters. VF has been told that the Prince of Wales is keen to come up with a solution for what is being referred to in palace circles as the “York problem.”

“It’s something that William is acutely aware of and wants resolved,” a family friend tells me. “Charles is not a confrontational person and doesn’t want any more family feuds, but he recognizes that his brother poses challenges. William takes a harder line and has made it clear that he thinks his uncle and aunt could cause the monarchy real reputational damage.”

This week, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was dropped by seven of her charities after an email from 2011 revealed that she continued corresponding with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after claiming she had distanced herself from him. The king is under pressure to cut ties with his sister-in-law, according to royal insiders.

Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of Yorks, which lifts the lid on Sarah and Prince Andrew’s close relationship with Epstein, says the king could face a backlash if he continues to be seen as supporting Andrew and Sarah, who still live at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Despite Prince Andrew and Ferguson’s separation in 1992 and subsequent divorce in 1996, Charles still maintains a good rapport with the Duchess of York. Now their relationship is “causing problems for the King because of the optics of the royal family being so close to the Yorks,” Lownie says.

But Lownie tells me Charles and William disagree about what to do. “I’m told William’s view is that his father needs to take a firmer line with Andrew,” Lownie says. “I think this could cause real tensions between Charles and William. William, as future king, will have to deal with the fallout from this. He wants this problem solved and has no sentimental attachment to Andrew. He has no time for Andrew, and he can see how toxic the Yorks are.”

  • Harry & Meghan Reportedly ‘Eaten Up With Jealousy’ Over William’s Hollywood Move—They’re ‘Furious’

    [ad_1]

It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t the only members of the British royal family making moves in Hollywood, as reports claim that the couple is “furious” at Prince William’s recent move in the entertainment industry.

A source told Radar Online in a report published on September 19 that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “jealous” of William’s recent appearance alongside Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy in a clip for AppleTV+’s travel series, The Reluctant Traveler. In the episode, William was seen walking through Windsor Palace with Levy before joking, “Was getting drunk with Prince William on your bucket list,” as Levy laughs and responds, “It’s the bucket.”

Related: What each royal inherited from Queen Elizabeth after her death

According to a source, the moment was a “painful reminder” of Harry and Meghan’s own Hollywood ambitions, especially as the couple struggles to keep their multi-million deal with Netflix amid negative reviews for Meghan’s lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. “Harry and Meghan are certain it’s not by chance that so many major stars are keeping their distance,” an insider said. “They believe it’s now trendier for celebrities to align themselves with William and Kate – and the jealousy is eating away at them.”

Prince Harry, Prince William, Meghan Markle

Despite Netflix renewing her and Harry’s contracts for a reported much-smaller rate, Meghan’s show, With Love, Meghan, struggled to make it into the platform’s top 10 shows after its second season’s premiere earlier in 2025. “She felt humiliated when the top-tier stars failed to show up,” an insider said of the lack of support Meghan and Harry received from their Hollywood friends for her second season of With Love, Meghan. “To them, it seems like William is making things more difficult for them to grab any of the limelight they crave. They are even convinced he is poisoning Hollywood executives against them.”

While Harry and Meghan’s Hollywood careers struggle, the source noted of how William is using his connections to enter the entertainment industry. “William has plenty of motivation to court Hollywood,” the insider said. “It’s a huge way to update the monarchy and raise the Crown’s profile in the U.S. – and, of course, he can’t help but smirk at the way it is winding up Harry and Meghan.”

Before hosting With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex starred as Rachel Zane on Suits for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018.

  • Decoding Kate Middleton’s New, Trendy Ring Stack

    [ad_1]

At the time, many royal jewelry experts offered explanations as to why the Princess of Wales might have switched from an engagement ring to a stack of eternity bands. “Royal women wear their engagement rings in different ways, just like the rest of us,” said Lauren Kiehna, founder of The Court Jeweller, to People. Indeed, Queen Letizia of Spain, Meghan Markle, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, have all been known to take off their engagement rings for protracted periods of time.

However, Kate’s most prized piece of jewelry was firmly back on her finger for this most sombre royal occasion. The Duchess of Kent’s coffin was taken by hearse from Kensington Palace to Westminster Cathedral on Monday, September 15, where the Rite of Reception and Vespers took place, on the eve of the Requiem Mass. In a sign of the respect the Duchess of Kent earned from the royal family, her coffin was transported in the Royal Hearse, designed by Queen Elizabeth II, and draped in the Royal Standard.

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, chose not to wear her iconic engagement ring for a visit to Southport.

The service was attended by the Duchess’ immediate family, with Prince Edward supported by the couple’s three children and 10 grandchildren. The following day, the whole royal family came together to honor and remember the Duchess of Kent, with his majesty the king, Prince William, the Princess of Wales, Prince Andrew and others coming together for a Requiem Mass. The Duchess became the first royal to convert to Catholicism for more than 300 years, and was honored with the first royal funeral at Westminster Cathedral since its construction in 1903.

  • Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton Wear Meaningful Brooches to Greet Donald Trump

    [ad_1]

The royal family has welcomed Donald Trump to Windsor Castle for his historic second state visit, with both the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and Queen Camilla opting Wednesday to wear highly poignant brooches for the occasion.

Kate Middleton adorned her monochrome burgundy look with an heirloom brooch featuring Prince of Wales Feathers, in recognition of her title and position within the royal family. The brooch features a diamond-encrusted Prince of Wales Three Feathers emblem encircled with more diamonds, with emeralds and rubies dotted throughout, royal authority The Court Jeweller noted. The brooch has historically been worn by the woman married to the Prince of Wales. On this outing, the Princess chose not to wear the additional single emerald drop that can be added to the piece.

The Prince of Wales Feathers brooch has been worn a number of times by Queen Camilla, including to Cheltenham Ladies’ Day in 2012, despite Camilla never using the title of Princess of Wales on a formal basis. It was also sported by the late Princess Diana, although she preferred to wear it as a pendant on a necklace. It brought sparkle to her ensemble for an outing to the Royal Festival Hall in 1996, and on an outing to the Royal Opera House in 1982 that was recreated in The Crown. The late princess also wore the necklace on a state visit to Austria in 1986.

The brooch also has a fascinating royal history, notes The Royal Watcher. It was given to Queen Alexandra as a gift for her wedding to King Edward VII in March 1863.

  • King Charles Is “Thrilled” About President Trump’s State Visit, Says Source

    [ad_1]

Speaking directly to the Prince and Princess, the President said that William had “an unbelievably successful future” ahead of him and that it was wonderful to see Princess Catherine, whom he affectionately called Kate, looking “so radiant so healthy and so beautiful.”

“It seems as though Trump has an eye on the future generation,” says Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine. “He’s obviously genuinely impressed by William and who wouldn’t be impressed by Kate. She looked incredible. It seems a lot of effort has been made for the Trumps and the Waleses to spend some time together on this trip.”

Trump, an anglophile and huge fan of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was said to be looking forward to this state visit more than any other. It is the first time he has seen Charles since he was crowned king and his second meeting with Prince William, who he met with last year in Paris. The president heaped praise on William, telling reporters he was “doing a fantastic job.”

“I would expect that William and Catherine would have been quite touched and maybe a bit taken aback by so many compliments,” adds Seward. “It’s very flattering to have someone as powerful as Trump praising you and treating you like a very special friend. It’s unusual for the Head of State to be that personal, but it’s Trump’s style.

“The royals have to deal with so many dullards, Trump is actually really refreshing. He’s outspoken and quite exciting to be around because you don’t know what’s going to happen. Catherine looked quite taken aback when he praised her so personally. She looked a bit embarrassed, but that’s Trump. I think the royals are probably amused and bemused by it all.”

During Wednesday’s dinner in Windsor, Trump made a point about being the only US president in history to be granted the privilege of two state visits and joked about hoping he would be the only one to make King Charles laugh.

A source close to the king told Vanity Fair that Charles has said the state visit “could not be better.”

Adds the source, “I understand that His Majesty the King is thrilled about the visit and very pleased with the global optics of it all. The Royal Family really did pull out all the stops.”

Charles was equally effusive in his speech on Wednesday, pointing out that he had made 20 visits to the US and cherishes the special relationship between the two countries, calling it an “enduring bond.” He also joked about Trump’s love of British soil and golf courses.

  • Why Prince William Made Time For Donald Trump—and Not Prince Harry

    [ad_1]

In June 2019, King Charles III and Queen Camilla—then known as the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall—greeted President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, as they disembarked from Marine One in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. More than six years later, Trump is back in the White House, and Prince William and Kate Middleton were the ones to greet their American visitors when the Trumps touched down near Windsor Castle Wednesday.

It’s a reminder of how much has changed for the royals since the last time the Trump family traveled to the U.K. Back then, Meghan Markle was taking maternity leave from her royal role—but Prince Harry was still milling about, and keeping his distance from the president, who had called Meghan “nasty” months before the visit. These days, Harry and Meghan both have uneasy relationships with their extended family, as well as Harry’s native country. Last week, Harry traveled to the UK for a four-day stay. Yet he wasn’t able to make it onto William’s schedule, in stark contrast to the red carpet being rolled out for Trump.

Of course, Trump’s visit has been in the works for the last six months, while Harry’s trip was planned with less notice. But as a source with knowledge told Vanity Fair last week, the brothers are currently further away from reconciliation than ever before, and William “is adamant that he wants nothing to do with his brother.”

Tuesday’s walk was a part of a tradition in which the Prince of Wales, essentially the monarch’s understudy, is the first to greet an American president when they arrive for a state visit. That protocol has been broken before: Earlier this week, royal biographer Robert Hardman revealed that Barack Obama’s final visit in 2016 actually kicked off with a drive in Prince Philip’s Range Rover. But this time around, it made perfect sense for William to slip into the role.

Over the last few months, William has reportedly been tasked with launching a charm offensive at the president. It started in February, when a meeting between William and Trump unexpectedly swelled to 40 minutes and ultimately left the president declaring that William looked “really, very handsome.” It’s unclear what William, an environmental defender who has voiced support for the people of Gaza, thinks of Trump himself—but a palace source told the Telegraph that William sees political neutrality as an important part of his royal duties. “It’s important that we’re not involved in day-to-day politics,” the source said. “But when the time is right and there’s an ask for support from His Majesty’s Government, the prince is happy to play his role.”

If there is any hope for the brothers’ relationship in the future, it will come because Harry is currently working on repairing his relationship to—and his image in—the UK. Harry has returned to the UK for the WellChild Awards, which celebrate children with disabilities, multiple times since he moved to the US in 2020. This year, however, was the first time that he used the engagement as an excuse for an extended stay. In addition to a few stops in London, Harry traveled to Nottingham, where he posed for selfies with fans in an impromptu walkabout. He also made a personal $1.5 million donation to Children in Need, a group that helps struggling youth in the area. It’s not unheard of for a royal to dip into their own pockets to support a charity, but this act is rare enough that it is usually a major signal about their charitable priorities.

The other major headline of Harry’s visit was a 45 minute meeting with the king, his and Charles’s first face-to-face since days after Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in February 2024. So far, the details of what was discussed during that meeting have remained under wraps, a sign that Harry intends to honor his father’s request for privacy in exchange for a normalized relationship. Now that Harry’s major court cases against the government and British papers are resolved, he clearly wants to have deeper ties with his father and his native country—even though he didn’t get the security deal he wanted to bring his family back with him.

With their eye towards their duty to the UK and the monarch, William and Kate jumped headlong into Trump’s historic state visit. While the optics of jovially spending time with Trump might not age especially well for the future king, the decision to go all-in was probably easy for William. Having a relationship with the president of the US is a part of his job description; having one with his own brother is not.

  • A New Generation of Royal Influencers Were Mourning at The Duchess of Kent’s Funeral

    [ad_1]

Because the Duchess of Kent, who died on September 5 at the age of 92, spent the last few decades of her life in private life, she was the matriarch to a wing of the royal family that doesn’t always attend public events. Her funeral mass on Tuesday included her husband, the Duke of Kent, as well as King Charles III, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Princess Anne. (Queen Camilla bowed out Tuesday morning due to sinusitis.) But those familiar working royals were also joined by members of the extended Windsor clan, including a few who have made a name for themselves as influencers.

Two of the Duchess’s granddaughters, Lady Amelia and Lady Marina Windsor, entered the church with their father, George Windsor, the Earl of St. Andrews. Amelia, a model and freelance writer with a sizable Instagram following, wore a black shift dress and a hat rimmed with ostrich feathers. Marina, who announced her engagement over the summer, arrived without her fiancé, Nico Macauley. They were joined by their older brother, Edward, Lord Downpatrick, who is the heir to the Dukedom of Kent and currently owns a travel company.

During Tuesday’s Requiem Mass, William and Kate also reunited with one of the bridesmaids at their April 2011 wedding: Margarita Armstrong-Jones, the granddaughter of Princess Margaret. She arrived with her father, the Earl of Snowdon, who currently serves as the president of the King’s Foundation, the charitable organization that Charles founded to help support young people in the early stages of their careers.

Though these wings of the family are further away from official royal work, they have all attended major royal events in the past, and their royal connections have helped them launch their careers. Margarita, Amelia, and Marina have all modeled for Tatler and share glimpses of their lives online. In her May 2023 cover story for the outlet, Margarita revealed that she is studying at Paris’s Haute École de Joaillerie, and that she has taken after her late grandfather, Antony Armstrong-Jones, as a photographer and jewelry maker. On her Instagram account, she shares photos of her handmade bracelets and necklaces.

The Earl of St. Andrews’s younger sister, Lady Helen Taylor, was joined by her husband, Timothy Taylor, and their four children, Columbus, Cassius, Eloise, and Estella. The Duke and Duchess of Kent’s youngest son Lord Nicholas Windsor, who is known for writing essays about the Catholic faith he shared with his mother, also attended the funeral with his sons, 18-year-old Albert and 16-year-old Leopold.

Because the Duke of Kent and his siblings lost their father at a young age, they were close to the late Queen Elizabeth II until the end of her life. Another one of their royal first cousins, Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, attended Tuesday’s funeral along with his wife, Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, and their daughter, Lady Rose Gilman.

Perhaps befitting the Duchess’s red-carpet appearances in the 1970s, the funeral mass was also attended by celebrities from a different era, including race car driver Jackie Stewart, actresses Rula Lenska and Dame Maureen Lipman from the long-running soap opera Coronation Street, and novelist and politician Jeffrey Archer, as well as his wife, Mary.

  • Prince Harry Has “A Clear Conscience” Amid Burgeoning Reconciliation with King Charles, Visit to Ukraine

    [ad_1]

When Prince Harry and his father, King Charles III, recently met in London, royal watchers wondered whether a reconciliation was on the horizon, and with it, a new leaf for the ruler’s second son. However, Harry recently gave an interview containing some searing insights into his past and family, in addition to commenting on some of the recent years’ controversies around him.

Harry, who turns 41 Monday, sat for an interview with UK media outlet The Guardian, which has been critical of the monarchy and even, in a 2000 editorial, advocated for its abolishment. In 2023, within weeks of Charles’ coronation, the paper also published an investigation into the monarch’s finances.

The Guardian followed Prince Harry on every step of his surprise trip to Ukraine last week. He was invited by Superhumans, an organization that provides prosthetics and rehabilitation programs to soldiers and civilians injured in the conflict.

The trip to Kyiv was partly for Invictus Games business: The veteran-focused sports foundation has taken center stage in Ukraine since the first team participated three years ago. Harry and his colleagues met with injured veterans and their families, as well as those working in the veteran space, and were confronted with shocking figures and stories: more than 130,000 people with serious wounds, often facial mutilation or disability, and a war that seems endless.

The Guardian‘s account of traveling with Prince Harry shows a man deeply immersed in his role as an ambassador for the Invictus Games Foundation, and committed to understanding the conflict in the Ukraine. The story begins with a description of the journey to Kyiv, an overnight ride from Medyka to the Polish-Ukrainian border that. Though he was traveling on business, the interview also shows another, more informal side of Harry’s personality. He reveals that he doesn’t like to pose for photographs and isn’t fond of cycling, joking that he has “a bony ass.” He boxes for exercise instead: “Hitting the hell out of a bag,” he told the paper, helps him relieve stress.

According to the article, Harry was jovial during the train ride, walking around in socks and cracking dad jokes. In public, however, he maintains a confident voice and natural charm with strangers. When alone, he speaks softly, listens, and asks questions about people and politics.
