What Does Being Engaged Mean? 12 Ways Your Relationship Changes After The Proposal

    [ad_1]

You liked it, so you did put a ring on it. First of all, congratulations! Now let’s get to the question that has brought you here: what does being engaged mean for the two people involved in a relationship? It means that you have “made it official” and decided to a commitment for a lifetime Or that’s at least how most people will define engagement for you. However, the answer to what does being engaged to someone mean can entail so much more, both with respect to the dynamics of your relationship and how you’re perceived as a couple by society.

Once you decide to get engaged to your loved one, everything around you changes so quickly that you don’t even get any time to contemplate the things you’re going through. If you have just decided to get engaged and can relate to the feeling of things changing around you too quickly, then the list here might help you comprehend what’s to come.

But before that, what’s the history of the custom of engagements? And how do you define engagement? Let’s find out everything there is to know about being engaged to the love of your life.

History Of The Custom Of Engagements

History often has the answers to so many of our life’s questions. So, let’s start there. What does being engaged mean historically? The custom of engagement can be traced back to ancient times in western countries, however, the intricacies of this custom were much different from what they are today.

Historically, the groom-to-be expressed his intention to marry to his would-be bride’s father. Together the groom and the bride’s parents would come up with the terms of the marriage. Following this, the groom would give a dowry as a form of down payment to confirm the marriage contract. That was engagement.

Over time, the tides turned, and the opposite became the norm. The bride’s parents gave dowry to the groom in order to confirm the marriage contract. Cut to modern times, dowry has become increasingly frowned upon, and the practice has been abolished in the western world, thanks to pertinent laws.

Today, engagement is a ritual centric to the two people in the relationship. A couple can seek the blessings of their family members and choose to get engaged in front of their friends. Or they can do it privately. The ceremony can be marked by exchanging rings or the guy going down on one knee, asking his partner to marry him, and putting a ring on their finger. The one being proposed to (typically the woman), accepts with a “Yes, I will marry you”. That’s it; the couple is now engaged.

    What Does Being Engaged Mean?

Now, what does being engaged mean legally, for your relationship, and from a social standpoint? Well, while being engaged does not have any legal ramifications, it does mean that you are now in a formal agreement to get married. Personally, it means that your significant other really loves you and wants to take the next step in your relationship. And socially, it means that you’re now seen as a unit and your relationship may get greater legitimacy.

But, that’s not the explanation of “what does being engaged mean” you came for, is it? If you have recently put a ring on it or are planning to, it is only natural that you have questions about what it means for your future as a couple. After all, it is a considerable milestone for your relationship. To find someone who loves you or you love enough to want to spend the rest of your life together is something special.

And more than anything, being engaged means you are now entering a new honeymoon phase in your relationship. Things will change for sure, but if you are sure about your choice, you will have the best time in this new phase. The prospect of planning your wedding and married life together will fill you with a giddying sense of hope.

This phase also means you have now crossed the hurdles of choosing the perfect engagement ring or planning the best engagement party, and when the congratulations and euphoria begin to fade away, it’s all about a mutual promise of loving each other, in sickness and health, and fulfilling it together.

If this short and sweet description of what does being engaged mean hasn’t quite quelled your curiosity, let’s dive into the juicy bit about the 12 ways your relationship changes after the proposal.

If you’re wondering, “What does it mean when someone says that’s the perks of being engaged?”, you’ll finally find the answer here. Wearing the engagement ring post the marriage proposal is certainly a big step forward in your relationship. You are no longer just dating; you are now an engaged couple.

And when you move forward in life, it leads to some inevitable changes in your relationship. So, amidst all the hubbubs of this new beginning, let’s decode together what does being engaged to someone mean and how it changes your relationship.

Just remember, change is nothing to be scared of; you are with the person you love, and you have crossed many hurdles to be where you are right now. Up next, there are many factors and commitments to take care of, so let us take you through a journey of what’s to come in this new life as an engaged couple.

    1. Moving in is definitely on the cards now

After you’ve got the engagement ring on, moving in and sexual intercourse are definitely on the cards now if you haven’t already crossed those bridges. And that is a big step forward. You will be seeing each other all the time, and you won’t have to miss each other anymore. Remember all the nights you craved physical intimacy with your partner but couldn’t? You don’t have to long for them anymore.

However, as exciting as it is, you have to handle it carefully. As a newly engaged couple, it’s important that both you and your partner are mindful of each other’s needs, wants, and expectations. There are various ways you can do that, but the overarching point is that you have to be open, receptive, and observant during this period to live up to the commitments made at the time of your engagement.

    2. You will need to be more considerate

Moving in with your partner is exciting, but you have to remember to give them their space. Just because you are living together doesn’t mean your partner doesn’t need privacy anymore. Personal space in the relationship will help create a safe environment for your partner, and they won’t feel overwhelmed by the changes. Once you are respectful of their space, you have to change some more habits too.

From not leaving the wet towel on the bed to picking up after yourself, these are small things, but they play a big role. Over the course of your cohabitation, you will find the things that tick your partner off.

So naturally, it’s best to keep away from those things or have a hearty discussion with your partner regarding them. Adjustments and sacrifices generally don’t go in vain, and these small adjustments, or at least conversations about them, will help you make your moving-in experience the best it can be.

    3. Solo plans will become couple plans

Sure, you can have your personal night outs and space, but mostly, you will probably want to be with each other and do things together. This means you’ll have to factor your partner into your plans and vice versa. This might be a considerable change at first but you will grow to love it.

Slowly, with an effort from both parties, your schedules will become interlinked, and you will spend more time together than apart during your days. From grocery shopping to hitting the gym, spending time will only help you grow closer and grow together both metaphorically and literally (because gym).

While all of the quality time and bonding opportunities are great, you also need to be understanding of the fact that there may be times when your partner may not be able to include you in their plans or be a part of yours (and vice versa). You still have two individual lives to live, and sometimes it can be difficult to balance everything. So, the key here is to communicate with them and find a way to balance out shared and personal space in the relationship.

    4. You will get comfortable relying on your partner

Life is unfair, and sometimes even when you give your all to someone, they may end up hurting you. The past experiences of being heartbroken or betrayed can make it harder for you to rely on others. Being engaged changes that. Even if you have struggled with trust issues and insecurities in the past, you will begin to get more comfortable with leaning on your partner. It’s definitely a blessing, and with the right partner, you will be able to rebuild your emotional strength and be able to enjoy healthy relationships again.

Even if you are not emotionally scarred, being engaged will make you feel more in sync with your partner, which in turn will make you depend on them more. It’s a collaborative effort where the more you give, the more you get. And on days when you are feeling low, be it physically or mentally, you will have someone to comfort you even when you can’t give them anything back.

    5. Serious discussions about family

What does being engaged mean? It means you have taken the first step toward building a life together. And conversations about what that life would entail begin long before you say “I do” – or at least they should. One such important conversation is about what your family will look like. Trust me; many couples end up splitting because their ideas of a family are diametrically opposed to one another. That’s why you need to have that conversation.

While you don’t have to be on the same page from the very beginning, you at least have to start talking about if and when you’d want to have kids. This is a must for you to know where you both stand on the topic before you marry each other. In the worst-case scenario, if you can’t find a middle ground on this issue, this conversation will save you from going through an unhappy marriage. And generally, this conversation will help you picture your future together.

    6. Discussions about joint financial planning

The thing is, people are different, and there is a good chance that your and your partner’s view on money will probably not be the same – not 100% anyway. Is that a bad thing? No, but that does mean that it’s important to talk about money before getting married.

This discussion becomes even more important after you’ve worn the engagement ring because you have some important decisions ahead of you. You have to decide how you want to finance the wedding, how you want to save for the future, and any other significant expenditures. Discussions about these aspects will help you plan your finances jointly so you can achieve your goals together.

    7. All aboard marriage planning

Yes, finally, a fun point, right? Well, wedding preparations become a lot more fun when you have a financial plan for how you are going to be paying for the wedding. As a couple, you might have already planned your dream wedding, or you might just be getting started with the conversation now. Always remember the principles of adjustment and compromise mentioned earlier during the wedding prep conversations as well.

You will have long discussions about the venue, the outfits, the guest list, catering, music, and all of that can be stressful or fun depending on your ‘couple personality’. But what’s crucial is to keep it light and deal with any and every conversation that arises. Don’t try to avoid uncomfortable topics because that leads to problems later.

And also, remember, the wedding, just like the marriage proposal, will be between two people, so make sure you are planning an event that both of you will be proud to share with the world.

    8. Disagreements reduce

This is one of the best ways your relationship will evolve after the marriage proposal. Disagreements are likely to reduce because you and your partner will both feel more valued and loved in the relationship. Even if disagreements don’t go away magically, you will be able to look after each other and work out your problems with compassion and patience.

This is because you are now both serious about the relationship and have mutually agreed to spend the rest of your life together. So, even though a gradual decrease in disagreements may happen naturally, you still have to make an effort to nurture your relationship.

    9. Your goals become “our goals”

Continuing the theme of being more serious about your relationship, engagement will certainly transform you as a person. Now, it’s no longer just your life and your goals; you have a partner by your side through thick and thin. And you have to appropriately accommodate them in your life plans as well.

Discussing your life goals with someone and having their support to move forward is how your goals become “our goals”. Healthy relationships are built on mutual support and encouragement, and you should not take that for granted.

Cherish it and always remember to do the same for your partner. Being an engaged couple means helping and supporting each other in pursuit of shared and individual goals.

     10. Life gets on a fast track, whether you want or not

What does that mean? Well, getting engaged is the first step in a series of life events that you will now be expected to go through as soon as possible. After the engagement, you will be expected to get married, have babies, secure your retirement, raise your children… you get the drift.

Even if you are chill and unbothered by these things, there will be some peer and societal pressure to deal with. If you are a person who likes taking things slow, this might be stressful. Make it a point to communicate with your partner about how you are feeling. This will help you two remain on the same page.

And if you’re excited about taking the next steps, make sure you are understanding of your partner as well, who is with you on this ride. Don’t make decisions hastily, without discussing things with your partner.

    11. Living up to your promises

What does being engaged mean really boils down to living up to your promises. During the engagement period, you may feel the pressure to be a good partner more than ever. You have to take into account all the tips we’ve shared with you to be the best fiancé you can be.

Living up to your commitments will help you grow to trust and love each other, and that will make your relationship stronger. That is definitely a win-win for both of you.

     12. You grow as individuals, together

And lastly, being engaged means you grow as a person. You become more caring, more considerate, more compassionate, and more observant of your partner. This helps you become a better, more mature person. So, what does it mean when someone says that’s the perks of being engaged? It’s this! You grow in the relationship as well as an individual.

You become a better person for your partner because you want to give them all the best things in life. You want to prove to them that they made the right choice by choosing to spend their life with you. And trust me; they want the same for you too.

    Key Pointers

    • Being engaged means making it official that you want to spend the rest of your life with your partner.
    • You start cohabiting as a couple together (if you weren’t already), which marks the beginning of a new phase in your relationship after the engagement.
    • You feel open to start having important conversations regarding family planning, money, and wedding preparations.
    • You rekindle the spark in your relationship as both partners feel more secure and appreciated in the relationship.
    • You grow individually to become better versions of yourselves for each other.

With your question what does being engaged mean answered, now all that remains is to take the lessons from this p and apply them in your life. And of course, enjoy the new journey as much as possible. These are moments that you will look back on fondly as you age, so make the most of them.

  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED) And Prostate Cancer  – Morning Lazziness

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) And Prostate Cancer  – Morning Lazziness

    [ad_1]

Erectile dysfunction (ED) and prostate cancer are two prevalent medical conditions affecting men, especially those over 50. While these conditions are not directly related, they can be interconnected in certain ways.

Prostate cancer can impact erectile function by damaging nerves and blood vessels responsible for producing erections. At the same time, ED can be a sign of underlying prostate cancer, and men with prostate cancer are more likely to develop ED.

In this article, we will explore the relationship between ED and prostate cancer, including their causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options.

    Understanding Erectile Dysfunction

When a man cannot achieve or maintain an erection strong enough for sexual engagement, it is known as Erectile Dysfunction. What causes Erectile Dysfunction in men?

Well, this condition can have both physical and psychological causes. Physical causes of ED include underlying medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and hormonal imbalances.

Relationship issues, stress, anxiety, and sadness are among psychological factors that contribute to ED.

Erectile dysfunction is a common condition, and it becomes more prevalent as men age. Studies have shown that approximately 50% of men over the age of 40 experience some degree of ED, and this percentage increases to 70% in men over the age of 70. Other factors that can increase the risk of developing ED include smoking, alcohol consumption, and obesity.

    Understanding Prostate Cancer

The prostate gland, which is situated in front of the rectum and just below the bladder, is where prostate cancer typically originates. The prostate gland produces seminal fluid, which is an essential component of semen. Prostate cancer occurs when the cells in the prostate gland begin to grow abnormally and uncontrollably.

Prostate cancer is the second most common type of cancer in males, after skin cancer. Prostate cancer is predicted to be diagnosed in 1 in 8 men throughout the course of their lifetime. Older men are more likely to get prostate cancer than younger ones; individuals over 65 account for the majority of occurrences. Other factors that can increase the risk of developing prostate cancer include a family history of the disease, African-American ethnicity, and a high-fat diet.

    Symptoms of Prostate Cancer:

There may be no symptoms at all in the early stages of prostate cancer. As cancer grows and spreads, however, it can cause a range of symptoms, including:

    ● Difficulty urinating or a weak urine flow

    ● Blood in the urine or semen

    ● Pain or discomfort in the pelvic area

    ● Bone pain or fractures (in advanced cases)

It is essential to note that these symptoms can be caused by other medical conditions, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. Therefore, if you experience any of these symptoms, it is essential to speak with your doctor to determine the underlying cause.

Relationship between Erectile Dysfunction and Prostate Cancer

While ED and prostate cancer are not directly related, they can be interconnected in certain ways. Treatment of prostate cancer can impact erectile function by damaging nerves and blood vessels responsible for producing erections. The prostate gland is surrounded by a network of nerves and blood vessels that are crucial for producing and maintaining erections. Therefore, any damage to these nerves or blood vessels during prostate cancer treatment, can lead to ED.

Additionally, men with prostate cancer are more likely to develop ED. A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that men with prostate cancer had a higher prevalence of ED than men without prostate cancer. The study also found that the severity of ED was higher in men with prostate cancer than in those without the disease.

Moreover, ED can be a sign of underlying prostate cancer. A study published in the British Journal of Urology International found that men with ED were more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than men without ED.

The study found that men with ED were twice as likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than men without ED. Therefore, men who experience ED should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to determine if they have an underlying medical condition, such as prostate cancer.

Diagnosis of Erectile Dysfunction and Prostate Cancer

Diagnosis of ED typically involves a physical exam, a review of medical history, and laboratory tests. Your healthcare provider may perform a physical exam to check for any physical causes of ED, such as nerve damage or blood flow problems. They may also review your medical history to determine if you have any underlying medical conditions that could be causing your ED. Laboratory tests may include blood tests to check hormone levels and to rule out underlying medical conditions like diabetes or heart disease.

Diagnosis of prostate cancer typically involves a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and a digital rectal exam (DRE). A PSA test determines the amount of PSA, a protein generated by the prostate gland, in the blood. A high PSA level may indicate the presence of prostate cancer or another medical condition, such as BPH.

A DRE involves inserting a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum to feel for any abnormalities in the prostate gland. If the results of the PSA test or DRE are abnormal, your healthcare provider may recommend further testing, such as a prostate biopsy. During a biopsy, a small sample of tissue is taken from the prostate gland and examined under a microscope for the presence of cancer cells.

Treatment Options for Erectile Dysfunction and Prostate Cancer

The treatment options for ED and prostate cancer depend on the underlying cause of the condition.

Erectile Dysfunction treatment options may include:

Oral medications: Medications like sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra) are commonly used to treat ED by increasing blood flow to the penis.

Vacuum pumps for Erectile Dysfunction: A vacuum pump is a device that is placed over the penis to create a vacuum, which pulls blood into the penis, causing an erection.

Penile injections: For the purpose of achieving an erection, penile injections involve injecting medicine right into the penis.

Surgery: Surgery may be an option in severe cases of ED. Surgical options include penile implants, which are devices implanted in the penis to produce erections, and vascular surgery, which involves repairing damaged blood vessels in the penis.

Shockwave therapy: Low-intensity shockwaves are used in shockwave therapy for ED to encourage the development of new blood vessels in the penis. To deliver shockwaves to the penis, a unique instrument is placed on the skin. The release of growth factors and increased blood flow to the area are thought to be two ways that shockwaves encourage the formation of new blood vessels.

EMTT therapy: Nowadays, EMTT therapy can be used to treat erectile dysfunction successfully. Men’s sexual health issues have been shown to be significantly improved by the non-invasive Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy (EMTT), which was created primarily to treat musculoskeletal pain and other problems.

Treatment options for prostate cancer may include:

Active surveillance: In some cases, prostate cancer may be slow-growing and not require immediate treatment. In these cases, your healthcare provider may recommend active surveillance, which involves monitoring cancer with regular PSA tests, DREs, and biopsies.

Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy involves using high-energy radiation to extinguish cancer cells. Radiation therapy can be delivered externally, using a machine outside the body, or internally, using radioactive seeds placed inside the prostate gland.

Surgery: Surgery may be an option to remove the prostate gland and any cancerous tissue. The most common surgery for prostate cancer is a radical prostatectomy, which involves removing the entire prostate gland and some surrounding tissue.

Hormone therapy: Hormone therapy involves blocking the production or action of male hormones, such as testosterone, which can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells.

It is essential to note that these treatments can have side effects, including ED. A lot of men suffer from ED caused by prostate cancer surgery or other treatment options. Therefore, it is essential to discuss the potential side effects of any treatment with your healthcare provider before undergoing treatment.

Prevention of Erectile Dysfunction and Prostate Cancer

While it may not be possible to prevent ED or prostate cancer entirely, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing these conditions.

To reduce your risk of developing ED, you can:

Maintain a healthy weight: Obesity is a risk factor for ED, so maintaining a healthy weight can reduce your risk.

Exercise regularly: Regular exercise can improve blood flow and reduce the risk of ED.

Manage underlying medical conditions: Conditions like diabetes and heart disease can increase the risk of ED, so managing these conditions is important.

Avoid smoking: Can smoking cause ED? Yes. Smoking is a risk factor for ED, so quitting smoking can reduce your risk.

Limit alcohol intake: Excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of ED, so limiting alcohol intake is recommended.

To reduce your risk of developing prostate cancer, you can:

Get screened regularly: PSA tests and DREs can detect prostate cancer early, when it is most treatable.

Eat a healthy diet: Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in red meat and processed foods may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Maintain a healthy weight: Obesity is a risk factor for prostate cancer, so maintaining a healthy weight may reduce your risk.

Exercise regularly: Regular exercise can reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Avoid smoking: Smoking is a risk factor for prostate cancer, so quitting smoking can reduce your risk.

    Conclusion

Erectile dysfunction and prostate cancer are two common conditions that can affect men’s sexual health. While these conditions are not directly related, they can be linked, and men with ED should be evaluated for underlying medical conditions like prostate cancer. Diagnosis of ED typically involves a physical exam, a review of medical history, and laboratory tests, while diagnosis of prostate cancer involves a PSA test and a DRE.

Treatment options for ED and prostate cancer depend on the underlying cause of the condition. Prevention of these conditions includes maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, managing underlying medical conditions, avoiding smoking, and limiting alcohol intake.

If you are experiencing symptoms of ED or are at risk of developing prostate cancer, it is important to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider to determine the best course of action.

As stated above, it’s possible that you might suffer from ED caused by prostate cancer treatments. If you do, then it’s recommended that you seek medical help. You could visit MansMatters, which is the leading men’s health clinic in Europe. Highly skilled medical professionals at Shockwave Clinics Ltd, have treated thousands of men suffering from ED using their revolutionary treatment options like, shockwave therapy, EMTT therapy, Tesla Chair and NanoVi.

  • How Can Prostate Cancer Affect My Sex Life – Morning Lazziness

How Can Prostate Cancer Affect My Sex Life – Morning Lazziness

    [ad_1]

The prostate gland, which is in charge of creating seminal fluid, is afflicted by prostate cancer. The urethra, the tube that ejects urine and sperm from the body, is surrounded by the prostate gland, which is situated directly below the bladder. When prostate cancer develops, it can cause a range of symptoms, including changes in sexual function.

In this article, we will discuss the ways in which prostate cancer can affect a man’s sex life, and how these effects can be managed and treated.

Prostate cancer and sexual function relationship

Sexual function is complex and involves many different factors, including physical, emotional, and psychological factors. Prostate cancer can affect sexual function in a variety of ways, depending on the stage of the cancer, the type of treatment used, and the individual’s overall health.

Some of the most common ways that prostate cancer can affect sexual function include:

Erectile dysfunction: Erectile dysfunction, or the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity, is a common side effect of prostate cancer and its treatment. This is because the nerves and blood vessels that control erections are located near the prostate gland, and can be damaged during surgery or radiation therapy.

Loss of libido: Many men with prostate cancer report a decrease in their desire for sex, or libido. This can be due to physical changes in the body or hormone therapy, as well as emotional factors such as anxiety, depression, or stress.

Premature ejaculation: Some men may experience premature ejaculation, or the inability to control ejaculation, after prostate cancer treatment. This can be due to changes in the nerves and muscles involved in ejaculation, as well as psychological factors such as anxiety or stress.

Pain during sex: In some cases, prostate cancer can cause pain during sexual activity. This may be due to inflammation or damage to the prostate gland, or to the nerves and muscles involved in sexual function.

Changes in orgasm: Prostate cancer and its treatment can also cause changes in the way a man experiences orgasm. Some men may have difficulty achieving orgasm, or may experience a weaker or less intense orgasm.

Managing sexual side effects of prostate cancer treatment

While the sexual side effects of prostate cancer and its treatment can be challenging, there are many options available for managing and treating these issues. Some of the most common strategies for managing sexual side effects include:

Medications: There are several medications available that can help treat erectile dysfunction, including sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra). These medications act by enhancing blood flow to the penis, which can assist males in obtaining and maintaining an erection. In addition, medications such as dapoxetine can be used to treat premature ejaculation.

Penile implants: For men who are unable to achieve an erection with medication, penile implants may be an option. Penile implants are small devices that are surgically implanted in the penis, and can be inflated to produce an erection. Inflatable and malleable penile implants are the two primary varieties.

Vacuum devices: Male vacuum pump, also known as penis pumps, can be used to help men achieve an erection. These devices work by creating a vacuum around the penis, which draws blood into the penis and helps it become erect.

    Shockwave Therapy

Expert talks about the connection between body odor and sexual attraction

Shockwave therapy is proving to be a very effective Erectile Dysfunction treatment option. It is thought that this therapy’s use of low intensity shockwaves may be able to encourage the formation of new blood vessels in the penis by increasing blood flow to the area and promoting the release of growth factors. The removal of plaque that has built up in the blood vessels of the penis may also be aided by the shockwaves, which could improve blood flow and erectile function. Shockwave therapy for ED is becoming increasingly popular as a result.

Counseling: For men experiencing emotional or psychological factors that are impacting their sexual function, counseling or therapy can be helpful. A therapist can work with the individual to address issues such as anxiety, depression, or relationship problems, and develop strategies for coping with these issues.

Lifestyle changes: Making changes to your lifestyle can also help improve sexual function. This may include things like maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and reducing stress.

Surgery: In some cases, surgery may be necessary to treat sexual side effects of prostate cancer. For example, surgery may be used to remove scar tissue or repair damaged nerves or blood vessels. However, surgery is typically only considered after other treatments have failed, as it can be risky and may lead to further complications.

Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy can also be used to treat sexual side effects of prostate cancer. For example, low-dose radiation therapy may be used to help improve erectile function, while high-dose radiation therapy may be used to treat pain or inflammation in the prostate gland.

Hormone therapy: Hormone therapy is a treatment that is sometimes used to shrink or slow the growth of prostate cancer. However, hormone therapy can also have sexual side effects, such as decreased libido and erectile dysfunction.

It’s important to note that not all men will experience sexual side effects of prostate cancer and its treatment, and the severity of these side effects can vary widely. Additionally, not all men will require treatment for these side effects. However, if you are experiencing sexual side effects that are impacting your quality of life, it’s important to talk to your doctor about your options.

Tips for managing sexual side effects of prostate cancer

    Female Sexual Problems

In addition to the treatments listed above, there are several things you can do to help manage the sexual side effects of prostate cancer and its treatment. These include:

Communicate with your partner: Communication is key when it comes to managing sexual side effects of prostate cancer. Talk openly and honestly with your partner about your feelings, fears, and concerns, and work together to find ways to maintain intimacy and sexual satisfaction.

Explore other forms of intimacy: If you are unable to engage in sexual activity, there are other forms of intimacy that can help maintain a strong emotional connection with your partner. This may include things like cuddling, kissing, and touching.

Experiment with different positions: If you are experiencing pain or discomfort during sexual activity, try experimenting with different positions that may be more comfortable for you.

Be patient: It may take some time to find the right treatment or combination of treatments to help manage your sexual side effects. Be patient, and work closely with your doctor to find the best solution for you.

Take care of yourself: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help improve sexual function and overall quality of life. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and reduce stress whenever possible.

Prostate cancer can have a significant impact on a man’s sexual function, but there are many treatments and strategies available for managing and treating these side effects. It’s important to talk to your doctor about your options, and to be patient as you work to find the best solution for you. With the right care and support, it’s possible to maintain a fulfilling and satisfying sex life after prostate cancer.

As, ED is the most common side effect of prostate cancer treatment, a man is likely to be suffering from ED than anything else, after undergoing prostate cancer treatment.

  • Why Do Relationships Become Toxic? 10 Reasons

Why Do Relationships Become Toxic? 10 Reasons

    [ad_1]

Relationships form the bedrock of our social lives, providing us with companionship, support, and love. However, not all relationships are healthy or fulfilling. Some can become toxic, resulting in emotional turmoil and negative consequences for both partners. In this article, we explore the reasons behind toxic relationships, offering insights into how they develop and how they can be recognized and addressed.

10 Reasons Why Relationships Become Toxic

A relationship is considered toxic if it is characterized by behavior patterns that make either partner unhappy – these patterns could range from dishonesty to disrespect, lack of support, constant criticism, or controlling/manipulative behavior. But where do these unhealthy patterns stem from? Let’s find out:

    1. Insecurity and low self-esteem

Insecurity and low self-esteem are significant factors that can lead to toxic relationships. When an individual feels inadequate or unworthy, they may resort to controlling or manipulative behaviors to maintain their partner’s attention and love. Such behaviors can include excessive jealousy, possessiveness, and an overwhelming need for reassurance, which can ultimately damage the relationship.

    2. Poor communication

Communication is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship. When communication with a partner breaks down or is ineffective, misunderstandings and misinterpretations can occur. In a toxic relationship, poor communication may manifest as constant arguments, passive-aggressive behavior, or an inability to express emotions and needs openly. This can create a toxic cycle where unresolved issues fester and resentment builds.

    3. Emotional unavailability

Emotional unavailability can lead to toxicity in a relationship when one or both partners struggle to connect on an emotional level. This can stem from past traumas, fear of vulnerability, or simply a lack of emotional intelligence. When emotional needs are unmet, it can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, and disconnection, which may exacerbate the relationship’s toxicity.

    4. Unresolved trauma and emotional baggage

Carrying unresolved emotional baggage or trauma from past relationships can be detrimental to the health of a new partnership. This baggage may include unresolved feelings, trust issues, or deeply ingrained patterns of behavior that negatively impact the current relationship. If these issues are not addressed, they can lead to toxic patterns that undermine the health and happiness of both partners.

    5. Codependency

Codependency is a pattern of behavior in which one person relies on another for emotional and psychological support, often to the detriment of their own well-being. This can result in an unhealthy dynamic where one partner becomes overly responsible for the other’s emotional needs, while the other partner becomes overly reliant on their support. This imbalance can create a toxic environment where both partners lose their sense of autonomy and individuality.

    6. Unrealistic expectations

When one or both partners have unrealistic expectations about the relationship, it can lead to disappointment, frustration, and resentment. These expectations may include beliefs about the roles each partner should play, the level of commitment required, or the way love and affection should be expressed. When these expectations are not met, it can create a toxic environment where blame, criticism, and dissatisfaction are prevalent.

    7. Lack of boundaries

Healthy boundaries are essential for maintaining a sense of autonomy and self-respect within a relationship. When boundaries are unclear or nonexistent, one partner may feel overwhelmed, controlled, or disrespected by the other. This lack of boundaries can lead to a toxic environment where personal space and individual needs are not respected or valued.

    8. Power imbalances

A relationship should be based on mutual respect and equality. However, power imbalances can occur when one partner dominates or controls the other, either emotionally, financially, or physically. This can lead to a toxic environment where the submissive partner feels disempowered and the dominant partner feels entitled to make unilateral decisions or control their partner’s life.

    9. Abusive behavior

Toxic relationships often involve some form of abuse, whether it is physical, emotional, or psychological. Abusive behaviors can include manipulation, gaslighting, coercion, intimidation, and violence. Such behaviors undermine trust, respect, and safety within the relationship, creating an environment that is harmful to both partners. Recognizing and addressing abusive behaviors is crucial for breaking the cycle of toxicity and preventing further harm.

    10. Incompatibility

Incompatibility in core values, goals, or lifestyle preferences can contribute to the development of a toxic relationship. When partners are unable to find common ground or make compromises, it can lead to persistent conflict, dissatisfaction, and resentment. In addition, incompatibility can become toxic when partners try to change each other or force their beliefs onto one another rather than accepting and respecting each other’s differences.

    Recognizing And Addressing Toxic Relationships

Recognizing the signs of a toxic relationship is the first step toward addressing the issue and seeking help. Some key indicators of a toxic relationship include:

    1. Feeling emotionally drained or constantly on edge
    2. Experiencing frequent arguments or conflicts
    3. Feeling controlled, manipulated, or coerced
    4. Losing your sense of self or autonomy
    5. Experiencing emotional, physical, or psychological abuse

If you suspect that you or someone you know is in a toxic relationship, seeking support from friends, family, or professional counseling services is important. Addressing the underlying causes of toxicity and working on individual growth and self-awareness can help break the toxicity cycle and pave the way for healthier, happier relationships.

Toxic relationships can arise for various reasons, including insecurity, poor communication, emotional unavailability, unresolved trauma, codependency, unrealistic expectations, lack of boundaries, power imbalances, abusive behavior, and incompatibility. By understanding these underlying causes, individuals can recognize the signs of toxicity and take steps to address the issues by seeking professional help or working on personal growth and self-awareness. Ultimately, breaking free from toxic relationships and cultivating healthier connections can lead to a more fulfilling and emotionally satisfying life.

Written by dating coach for men Gary Gunn – Founder of Social Attraction

In this article, I will teach you how to achieve more success with women.

You will learn how to harness the power of mirror neurons to increase your dating connections.

📖 Keep reading to transform your dating life and don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter for more advice.

    What are mirror neurons?

Mirror neurons are a type of neuron that is found in the brains of humans and some other animals, such as primates.

They were first discovered in the early 1990s by a team of Italian researchers led by Giacomo Rizzolatti while studying the brain activity of macaque monkeys.

Mirror neurons are unique because they fire both when an individual performs an action and when they observe someone else performing the same action.

Why are mirror neurons important in dating?

The discovery of mirror neurons has led to significant advancements in our understanding of various cognitive processes, including:

    • Empathy and understanding others’ emotions: Mirror neurons are thought to play a key role in helping us understand and empathize with the emotions, intentions, and feelings of others by allowing us to internally simulate their experiences.
    • Imitation and social learning: Mirror neurons are believed to be crucial for learning new skills and behaviors through imitation, especially in early childhood development. They help us acquire new abilities by observing and replicating the actions of others.
    • Language acquisition and understanding: Some researchers propose that mirror neurons may also contribute to language development and comprehension, as they may be involved in processing and understanding gestures, facial expressions, and other nonverbal communication cues.
    • Theory of mind: Mirror neurons may be involved in our ability to attribute mental states to others, which is essential for understanding and predicting their behavior.

While the exact functions and implications of mirror neurons are still being explored.

They have become an important area of research in neuroscience, psychology, and cognitive science.

Success with Women: The Power of Mirror Neurons

You can unlock your potential with women by tapping into the power of mirror neurons.

    • These unique brain cells play a significant role in empathy, understanding, and connection.

Let’s explore how you can leverage them to boost your success with women.

    Build rapport through subtle mirroring

Creating a sense of connection is crucial for establishing trust and rapport.

Mirroring her body language, gestures, and facial expressions can help you achieve this.

    Action steps:

    • Observe her movements and posture, then subtly mimic them without overdoing it.
    • Timing is essential; be natural and maintain the flow of conversation.

Listen actively and engage in meaningful conversations

Active listening helps you understand her emotions, intentions, and thoughts.

This strengthens your connection and shows genuine interest.

    Action steps:

    • Pay attention to her words, tone, and facial expressions.
    • Ask relevant questions to demonstrate your engagement and encourage her to open up.

    Show empathy

Empathy is the ability to understand and share someone else’s feelings.

It’s a vital skill in connecting with others, especially women.

    Action steps:

    • Put yourself in her shoes and imagine how she feels in different situations.
    • Respond with compassion and validate her emotions to make her feel understood and supported.

    Use nonverbal communication effectively

Nonverbal communication, such as facial expressions, gestures, and body language, is crucial in conveying emotions and building rapport.

    Action steps:

    • Maintain eye contact, use open body language, and smile genuinely.
    • These signals create a welcoming atmosphere and make her feel more comfortable around you.

    Develop your emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions, both in yourself and others.

A high EQ is attractive and helps you navigate social situations with ease.

    Action steps:

    • Practice self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills.
    • Develop these qualities to better understand and respond to her emotional needs and build stronger connections.

    Conclusion

    • Leveraging the power of mirror neurons can significantly improve your success with women.
    • By incorporating these action steps into your interactions, you’ll foster deeper connections.
    • They also help you to establish trust, and create lasting impressions with the women you desire.

In this review article, Rizzolatti and Craighero provide a comprehensive overview of the mirror neuron system and its potential functions. They discuss the implications of mirror neurons in understanding others’ actions, emotions, and intentions, which are key aspects of social cognition and interpersonal communication. This research supports the idea that using mirror neurons effectively can help build rapport and enhance interactions with women.

In this study, Chartrand and Bargh demonstrate the “chameleon effect,” which refers to the unconscious mimicry of others’ behavior. They found that participants who subtly mirrored the actions of their interaction partners were liked more and experienced smoother social interactions. This research suggests that employing subtle mirroring, as facilitated by mirror neurons, can lead to more successful interactions with women.

In this article, Gallese and colleagues discuss the concept of “intentional attunement,” which refers to the ability to understand others’ intentions and emotions through the activation of mirror neurons. They argue that mirror neurons play a crucial role in empathy, emotional resonance, and the formation of social bonds. This research highlights the importance of tapping into mirror neurons’ potential to foster emotional connections and improve success with women.

How Does The Derma White Treatment Treat Acne – Morning Lazziness

    [ad_1]

If you’re someone that suffers with acne then you’re not alone. Many young people and adults suffer from this skin condition at some point in their lives.

Whether your acne is mild or more severe and affecting you everyday, there are skin care treatments available to help you. One of these effective skin treatments is called the Derma White treatment. This unique treatment is used to treat a variety of skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation, sun damaged skin, ageing skin, and of course, acne.

In this blog post, The Laser Treatment Clinic explains what the Derma White treatment is and how it can effectively treat active acne.

What is the Derma White treatment?

Before we can explain how this treatment helps to treat acne, it’s important to understand exactly what this treatment is and how it works.

The Derma White treatment works in a similar way to chemical peels, except it does not contain any chemicals or harsh ingredients. This treatment offers a natural and herbal alternative to the usual chemical peel, making it much safer to use.

This safe and natural treatment is applied to the face like a chemical peel, and massaged into the skin. Taking around just 15 minutes all in all to complete! Containing a mix of vitamins, enzymes and minerals, this treatment does not harm your skin in any way. Making it a quick, safe, and efficient option for many acne sufferers.

    Treating active acne

Active acne simply refers to acne that’s in its “active stage”. So when the symptoms of acne such as red bumps, cysts, and nodules are visible on your face, you know your acne is active.

So how does the Derma White treatment work to treat acne? The herbal blend contains many active ingredients that work to address the symptoms of active acne. These natural ingredients target the acne-causing bacteria found on the surface of your skin. This bacteria is what causes the inflammation and redness associated with acne.

Removing this bacteria reduces acne flare ups, meaning it effectively helps treat acne and reduce symptoms.

The benefits of the Derma White treatment

When it comes to treating acne, there’s a wide range of treatments and techniques available. The following are a list of reasons as to why the Derma White treatment is a fantastic treatment option for acne and why you may benefit from it.

    Non-invasive

Unlike many other acne treatments, the Derma White treatment is non-invasive and doesn’t harm your skin at all. This means no recovery time and no pain or discomfort!

    Quick

The Derma White treatment is an extremely quick skin care treatment that only takes around 15 minutes to administer. The herbal mixture is simply applied and massaged onto the surface of the skin and then easily removed.

    Suitable for all skin types

  • Sex Statistics That Too Many Guys Don’t Know

Sex Statistics That Too Many Guys Don’t Know

    [ad_1]

7 Basic Sex Stats Most Guys Don’t Know, Explored

Ever thought about sex? If you’re most people, yes. You’ve probably spent a lot of time fantasizing about it, and you’ve probably spent some time worrying about it, too — wondering things like, “Am I normal?” or “Am I good in bed?”

But despite all the time people spend thinking about sex, they often know relatively little about it. That’s due in no small part to the lack of comprehensive sex education in our culture, and the prevalence of misinformation that takes its place.

RELATED: Why Porn Is a Terrible Form of Sex Education

The upshot of this is lots of guys go through their lives not knowing some basic sexual facts. AskMen spoke to a handful of sex experts and educators to explore some basic knowledge we think you (and every guy) should have. Here’s what they had to say:

What the Average Penis Size Is

“The average penis size is much smaller than what we see in porn,” says SKYN Condoms’ sex and intimacy expert and author Gigi Engle. “It’s between 5.1 and 5.5 inches. I think this is really important to understand because we have an obsession in society with big penises and this can cause a lot of shame around your body and sex life.”

It makes sense that porn videos show performers with larger-than-normal penises. After all, porn is entertainment; movies typically show us extra-beautiful people, and action movies star guys with way more muscles than your average Joe.

But when underaged people watch porn when they’re young as a form of sexual education — a very common reality in the streaming era — they can mistake an extreme depiction for a snapshot of what’s normal.

When Guys Have Sex for the First Time, on Average

Lots of guys experience serious sexual anxiety over feeling like they’re late bloomers, and the rush to get laid as fast as possible is a common feature in depictions of teenage culture. No one wants to be the last one to experience sex, and the headlong rush into sexual intimacy, regardless of whether you’re ready for it or not, can be daunting — and harmful.

That’s why it’s useful to remember that the average age that people lose their virginity is 17 years old. Not only does that mean you’re not behind schedule if you haven’t until your mid to late teens, it also means that lots of people are having first-time sex in their 20s, balanced out by those early beginners

How Many Sexual Partners an Average Guy Has in His Life

Whether you call it “your number” or a “body count,” how many people someone has slept with is a question lots of people care about.

They might see a high number as indicative of someone’s sexual prowess and attractiveness on the one hand, or of their being “easy” or “ran through” on the other hand; a low number may be indicative of someone who’s “frigid” or simply unattractive. It can feel like a lose-lose situation, especially for women, who are often “slut-shamed” for the same things we praise men for.

But with all that praise going around, what’s the actual average? Of course, no one can know for sure, since the statistics are based on self-reporting, which tends to bring about people fudging the numbers a bit.

But, looking at a variety of studies and surveys, it seems like anything in the range of 4 to 8 sexual partners in your life is exceedingly normal.

How Long Sex Lasts, on Average

Here too, porn can cause people to have unrealistic expectations. If you’ve seen any full-length porn videos of half an hour where the star keeps going and going for more than half the run-time without climaxing until the very end, you might feel that that’s the norm.

But, as before, it’s more an exaggeration for entertainment purposes than a reflection of what actually happens in the bedrooms of the world.

“The average time it takes a person to ejaculate from start to finish is about 5.5 minutes,” says Engle. “This is important because a lot of people think they suffer from [premature ejaculation], when really it’s just the average.”

“If this is something that stresses you out, don’t go right for penis stimulation and focus on other sex acts like oral sex or hand sex with the focus on your partner, so that you can both experience more pleasure.”

How Likely Women Are to Climax From PiV Sex

Speaking of how long it takes people to climax, consider this data:

“On average, it takes a woman 20 minutes to have an orgasm — and men 3 to 5 minutes,” says sex educator Debra Laino.

Notice a bit of a disparity between those two numbers? It has consequences — the consequences in part being the existence of the infamous “orgasm gap.”

When hetero sex happens, the man is much more likely to cum than the woman. In part that’s a timing thing — penis-in-vagina sex is often over before she’s ready. But in part it’s also about the action going on inside of the vagina and not on the much more sensitive clitoris.

As Jess O’Reilly, Ph.D., host of the @SexWithDrJess Podcast, points out, “The vast majority of women don’t consistently orgasm from penile-vaginal penetration alone.

“Though the data varies from study to study, here are a few important findings from a study published in Archives of Sexual Behavior:

    • Women report that they have an orgasm 31-40% of the time during intercourse.
    • But if they add external stimulation to intercourse (e.g. simultaneous rubbing of the clitoris with hands or a vibrator), this increases to 51-60%.
    • When researchers asked specifically about “unassisted intercourse” with no additional clitoral stimulation from hands or a vibrator), orgasm prevalence drops to 21-30%.”

The takeaway, O’Reilly says, is to “use your hands or toys to play externally during intercourse to increase the likelihood of orgasm.”

How Much Semen an Average Ejaculation Contains

Like penis size and the duration of sex, porn might have you believing otherwise, but the average ejaculation does not actually contain very much semen at all.

Studies reliably show that it’s in the range of 2 to 5 ml, or roughly half a teaspoon to one teaspoon. So if you’re worrying that you’re not shooting enough when you climax, you can put those worries to bed — there’s no need to struggle to increase your semen volume.

(That being said, if you really like how it looks and you want to see a big, sticky explosion when you cum, the best way to do that is to abstain from orgasming for long periods of time between climaxes.)

    How Many People Have STIs

A surprising number of people have herpes, Engle notes: 67%, or two-thirds of the population.

Herpes, which Engle notes can be spread orally as well as genitally, “isn’t on a normal STI panel screening. Meaning that the vast majority of people don’t know if they have herpes. It’s only tested for if the doctor suspects an active outbreak with sores present.”

On the subject of people having a sexually transmitted infection but not knowing it, O’Reilly adds that “one study of over 1,600 participants, for example, estimated that 77% of chlamydia cases were never symptomatic and therefore 95% of cases go untreated.”

The bottom line? O’Reilly says “The CDC estimates that on any given day 20% of the US population has an STI.”

That’s one-fifth. So if your number of past partners is five or higher, there’s a darn good chance one of them had an STI.

RELATED: Sex Myths It’s Time We Stopped Believing

“Given the long term costs of untreated STIs (e.g. infertility, cardiovascular and neurological issues, higher risk of some cancers), getting tested is your best defense to ensure that you get treated and reduce the risk of complications,” O’Reilly notes. “STIs are treatable and many (e.g. chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea) are curable with simple antibiotics.”

“We need to break the stigma that holds people back from getting tested,” she concludes. “We’ve created a culture of shame in which we’re more afraid of a positive diagnosis and a few pills than we are of long-term health consequences. The more we talk about STIs, safer sex and testing, the more likely we’ll be to get tested, treated and enjoy more pleasure.”

15 Clear Signs He Likes You More Than You Think

    [ad_1]

He seems to like you, he pays attention, he is extra nice, and the way he looks at you … well, are these signs he sees you as someone special? You’ve been trying to figure it out on your own, “Does he like me or am I imagining it?” This is particularly true if the other person is not forthcoming about their feelings, leaving you to guess and second-guess where you stand with them. Why is it so hard to tell if someone likes you, right? So, are there any signs he likes you more than you think? Actually, there are.

Here’s what we’ll do. We’ll get attentive and start observing. Men are often easy to read, if you take the time to pay attention to the small details. How do you know if a guy is genuinely interested, though? If he goes out of his way to help you, this is usually one of the signs that he likes you more than you think. On the other hand, if he tends not to talk to you as much and looks away when you catch his gaze, these are the signs that he might not be as interested in you.

15 Clear Signs He Likes You More Than You Think

When two people are close, a subtle change in their relationship is noticeable. Although the gradual changes may not be significant, over time, this can lead to a substantial shift in the dynamic between them. To help you notice this shift, here are 15 clear signs he likes you more than you think. May this help you figure out what is going on in his head.

    1. For you, he has a microscopic memory

How can you tell if a man secretly likes you but is too shy to admit?

    • He remembers everything you say in the conversation
    • He finds your ideas fascinating, remembers things you’ve forgotten or said, and often reminds you of them
    • He might even act like you, repeating your phrases and puns verbatim

Men’s memory, as per research, is worse than women. No wonder it’s hard for them to remember dates and basic details. But if this guy deliberately keeps track of important dates and information for you, it is one of the signs he likes you more than you think. This behavior can be unsettling if you don’t understand why he’s doing it, but may come off as endearing and flattering if you’re into him as well.

    2. He wants to spend more time with you

When given a choice between doing something alone or doing something with you, he almost always picks spending quality time with you.

    • He might spend time with you sometimes instead of going out with his friends
    • He might decide to hang out with you instead of attending a family event
    • He might invite you to dinner days before your actual date or plan a weekend getaway with you
    • He keeps trying to find ways to meet you or talk to you

This shows that he’s excited to spend time with you and wants to get to know you. It’s a sure sign he likes you more than you think. According to a Reddit user, “Time is a good indicator. If he seems to make more time to be around you or shows interest in your time alone, he’s making an effort. If it gets to the point of asking to spend time with just you two, like a walk in the park or outside of your intended time together, it’s a sign.”

    3. He tries to make you happy

When someone deeply cares about you, they make an effort to grant your wishes. They cannot afford to be self-centered. If you notice that he adapts to your interests and starts to consider your needs as important as his, then you know he is into you.

    • He will never take the space and intimacy you have given him for granted
    • He will value them and cherish them so that you feel comfortable with him
    • He will inform you about the matters that are important to him, and he will do things taking your opinion into consideration
    • He will not try to dominate you

These are the signs he likes you more than you think.

    4. You are his speed dial, and he is yours

He often initiates conversations with you, which is another sign that he likes you more than you think. You both text each other regularly and he often starts a conversation about a topic that he knows you both find interesting. This is because he thinks about you, finds you attractive, enjoys talking to you, and wants to continue the conversation. This is a clear sign he likes you more than you think through texts.

A further sign is if he recalls conversations about the personal information you’ve shared with him. He’s not just trying; he’s trying his best. He is showing that he is genuinely interested in getting to know you better and that he has been paying attention to what you say.

    5. All his attention is for you (and only you)

He respects you and gives you the best care and consideration you’ve ever received, even as a friend. He devotes a lot of time to you. How can you tell if a man secretly likes you?

    • He takes time to listen to you and responds thoughtfully
    • He pays attention to every little detail about you — your favorite color, your favorite food, or your favorite movie and how there is a slight change in your hairstyle or the color of your usual eye shadow
    • This shows that he’s genuinely interested in getting to know you. He wants you to notice him and that is clearly one of the signs he likes you more than you think

    6. He tells you that he loves you (followed by “platonically”)

What are the signs that he likes you but is playing it cool? This is one of them. You can tell when a guy treats you more than just a friend:

    • He will want to make sure your needs are met and that you are comfortable around him
    • You’ll become a huge part of his routine

    8. He shows a genuine interest in all aspects of your life

Another one of the clear signs he likes you more than you think is that he takes a genuine interest in all aspects of your life – not just the superficial ones.

    • He might ask questions about your job, hobbies, or family
    • He asks you about your hopes and dreams for the future
    • He cares about who you are and not just what you look like
    • He has genuine interest in your opinions and beliefs. He might ask you questions about your views on specific topics and listen intently when you share your thoughts

If the guy discusses his future plans with you a lot, it suggests that he wants to stay together in the long run. Naturally, he wants to strengthen your bond and continue exploring the possibility of a future together.

Whether discussing a potential trip or buying a house together, the conversation of future plans and ideas is a highly positive sign that he enjoys spending time with you and is looking to make a connection that will last for years. He wants you to be part of his future and is afraid of losing you. It’s definitely one of the signs he likes you more than you think.

You two might have a relationship where you joke around with one another. He enjoys making you laugh. Even though he doesn’t express his interest in you directly, he probably likes you if he never hesitates to act like your personal clown.

You can tell by how he talks to you and interacts with you that he is interested in being more than just friends. He might be hesitant to let his feelings show, as he doesn’t want to make things awkward or lose his friendship with you. Research suggests that playful people are more connected and content with their connections. You can say this is one of the weird signs he likes you more than a friend.

    13. He gets jealous – easily

One of the clearest signs he likes you more than you think. As you know by now, jealousy is a double-edged sword. You may be wondering why is he jealous when you guys are not even in a romantic relationship. It may be acceptable when he shows his feelings for you, but it could be detrimental if he tries to control you and prevent you from seeing your friends.

The subtle insecurity that surfaces when another guy expresses interest in you and he fears that you might be taken away from him is what I’m referring to, not the ugly jealousy that shows up as rage and aggression. Yep, this is one of those weird signs he likes you more than a friend.

    14. He accepts your clouds and blooms

Why is it so hard to tell if someone likes you? If you’re still bothered by this question, then gauge his affection for you. Is it unconditional? If yes, then he probably likes you romantically. A relationship grows when two people accept and value each other for who they are, flaws and all.

    • You feel comfortable being who you are around him – he has provided you with that level of comfort
    • You know that he accepts you for who you are and will not judge you no matter what
    • The fact that he puts his ego aside when you have outbursts proves that you are more than just a friend to him. This is one of the many signs he sees you as someone special
    • He understands that you have bad mental health days and is patient and compassionate with you

    15. He does things for you without asking for anything in return

Madonna said, “To be brave is to love someone unconditionally, without expecting anything in return.” When a guy does things for you without expecting anything in return and goes above and beyond to make you feel special, it’s one of the most telling signs that he likes you more than you think.

    • He may buy you a gift out of the blue or help you with something without expecting anything in return
    • He may cook you dinner or take you out to eat. He might surprise you with a date or plan a special night

    Key Pointers

    • He wants to spend more time with you
    • He tells you that he loves you platonically and is your number 1 fanboy
    • He shows a genuine interest in all aspects of your life, and he is always there for you
    • He makes you feel safe and does things for you without asking for anything in return
    • He makes you a part of his world

How do you know if a guy is genuinely interested? You’ll need to distinguish between the signs he likes you for more than your body or if he just likes you as a friend. According to a study, if you want to know whether people are flirting with you, look at what they say and do. Each person has a different tactic for communicating attraction or flirting style. “We’re really bad at detecting if people are flirting with us,” Jeffrey Hall, an author and researcher, said. “We‘re great at knowing when they’re not interested. But the reason we’re bad at seeing when they are interested is people show it in such a variety of ways.”

A few of the above things will tell you if he is really into you. If you still need to figure out his feelings, the best way to find out is to ask him. You might be surprised at his answer. Good luck!

  • 5 Ways to Love Your Unsaved Friends

5 Ways to Love Your Unsaved Friends

    [ad_1]

Interestingly, Jesus chose 12 young men who, at the time, had no real relationship with God. They resided within the fringe of religiosity. They were Jews, yes, but not born-again believers in Jesus Christ. That didn’t happen until after Jesus’ death and resurrection. Until that time, they were disciples (“learners”) and friends of the man they hoped was the Messiah, the one who would redeem them from Roman rule.

Does that surprise you: that Jesus chose unsaved, Jewish-born men to be his closest followers? That was his intention, honestly. He was sent by God to purposely “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Seek in Greek (zēteō) means “to search for, to crave.” Jesus intentionally searched out and craved relationships with those who were unregenerate, with those who were the antithesis of himself: sinless, pure, and holy.

The reason I bring this up is that many believers today have unsaved friends in their circle of relationships, and they may feel guilty (or even ashamed) that they do. After all, some believers think that Christians should keep the unsaved at a distance, citing 1 Corinthians 15:33 as justification. Yet, we, of all people, should, like Jesus, be seeking out the unsaved, craving their friendship (though not their influence), with the intention of being ambassadors for the Almighty, out of obedience to fulfilling the Great Commission of “making disciples,” and with the hope of bringing these unsaved friends to the Light, to receive the free gift of grace through faith.

I have unsaved friends and acquaintances. And I believe, based on Jesus’ example with his disciples, that that’s a good thing. From my own experience, here are a few ways (which are not exhaustive) to express our love to our unsaved friends. These can also apply to unsaved family members, co-workers, neighbors—anyone in your relationship sphere who doesn’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord.

    1. Value Them

This should go without saying, but in fact, in our culture today, which is so fraught with polarization around issues, sometimes we believers can tend to—perhaps unknowingly and unintentionally—“devalue” those who hold opposite principles than us. We can tend to think less of them, dismiss them, and even pass judgment on them out of self-righteousness and false piety.

But every person, whether we agree with them politically, morally, religiously, or ethically, has value for the simple fact that they are created by God and bear his image. Even in their sinful state, they still carry his imprint. They bear the common-grace markings of him through the expression of emotions, intellect, and creativity.

So, first off, value each unsaved friend as a God-created, God-imprinted person. Look past their opinions, beliefs, and leanings. Look at them through the lens of Creation, based on Genesis 1:27: “So God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (emphasis added).

    2. Accept Them

Accept them where they’re at. The unsaved are going to act as, well, unsaved. Their souls, minds, and hearts are unregenerated. They will think, believe, and act out of their sin-nature. They will speak profanely, they will drink (often to excess), they will be promiscuous, and they will slander and hate. They will act foolishly, irrationally, and sinfully.

Given this, we’re not to condemn them. Frankly, we should expect them act unbecomingly in their depravity. It should not shock us nor surprise us. After all, we once did, too, before we surrendered our lives to Jesus as Savior and to the Holy Spirit as Sanctifier (Titus 3:3).

Therefore, God says we have no business passing judgment on our worldly-minded, worldly-living, unsaved friends, based on 1 Corinthians 5:12: “What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?”

However, we aren’t to condone their behavior, either. We graciously accept them as a person without condoning their sinful choices. But when asked, we gently and respectfully tell them we don’t agree or approve of their behavior (1 Peter 3:16), and we use the opportunity to share how we are compelled, because of what Jesus did for us, to now live under the guidance of God’s ways.

    3. Listen to Them

Oftentimes we think the best way to show love is to talk—even if it’s about God—when in actuality, it’s to listen. That old idiom, “God gave us one mouth and two ears,” rings true in this case. When people feel listened to—really listened to—they feel respected, valued, and cared about.

Not to mention that God values a genuinely attentive listener. “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: you must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry” (James 1:19).

As people, they also have hopes and dreams, desires and aspirations, and pain and long-buried hurts, some of which may have been caused by the Church or other Christians. Listening to them helps us to build commonality with them, and compassion for them, especially in their suffering.

Listening also breeds understanding. We may not agree with our friend’s views, but listening allows us to come to an understanding of how and why they think and believe the way they do. Furthermore, people like nothing more than to be understood and appreciated for their opinions, values, and beliefs, even if they’re on the wrong side of the Bible.

Another benefit of listening—which was a new thought for me—is that it breeds patience in us, the listener. Says Mental Health Training in its podcast, “Sitting and listening to someone you disagree with is difficult. You will have to have patience. And if you haven’t already developed the necessary tolerance for this task, just the practice of hearing others more often will help you to create it. If you find you are struggling with the activity, try to remember you are listening to learn something new. You can also listen with the intent to ask questions, and this will help you focus on the words the other person is saying more carefully.”

So, listen to learn and understand. Listen to show respect and value. Listen to cultivate patience and compassion.

Conversely, listening will also earn you the right to be listened to. Tit for tat, so to speak. And then you have the wonderful opportunity to speak the truths of God, and your unsaved friend will likely be more apt to listen.

    4. Pray for Them

“Prayer is the work,” someone once told me. How true that is. Prayer is the behind-the-scenes work in which all believers should be engaged. Prayer is the work of seeking open doors for Gospel witnessing, of building God’s Kingdom. James even tells us that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

With regards to your unsaved friends (or whomever the Lord has burdened your heart with):

    5. Show Them Grace

Jesus was God’s grace personified. He came not to condemn but to show grace to those who least deserved it: the sinners. He extended a helping hand to those who were suffering, a kind word to those who were desperate, and, when necessary, he spoke truth in confronting sin, yet with love. Grace upon grace.

We should be God’s grace personified, as well, to our unsaved friends. We may be the only people who show them grace when they fail or sin grievously. Our extending grace to them when all others are judging and dismissing may just be what they need to experience for them to finally see their need for a Savior, to repent, and to receive salvation.

    Conclusion

As believers in Christ, yes, we’re called to remain holy (“separate”) in our conduct and are not to conform to this world. But that isn’t justification to withdraw from the world or from its people. Quite the opposite. Distancing ourselves from the unsaved is not an option, nor is it biblical. Rather, Jesus told his disciples and us to “Go” into the world (“to all nations”) and to make disciples. And many times, that happens when we intentionally and prayerfully build genuine friendships with the unsaved.

Written by dating coach for men Gary Gunn – Founder of Social Attraction

In this article, I will teach you how to have less anxiety approaching women.

I provide twelve different grounding techniques that I use with my clients that are psychologically proven.

    Breathing Techniques

    • Discreet Deep Breathing: Before approaching someone, take a few slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose for a count of four, hold for a count of four, and exhale through your mouth for a count of four. This simple exercise can help calm your nerves and refocus your attention.
    • Box Breathing: Practice this technique by inhaling for four counts, holding your breath for four counts, exhaling for four counts, and holding your breath again for four counts. Repeat this cycle a few times to reduce anxiety and regain focus.

    Memory Strategies

    • Memory Recall: Bring to mind a positive experience or memory in detail. Focusing on the positive aspects helps shift your thoughts away from anxiety and into a more positive mindset.
    • Anchoring: Choose a word or phrase that evokes calmness or confidence, such as “I am confident” or “I can do this.” Silently repeat this phrase to yourself a few times before approaching someone you’re interested in.

    Using Numbers

    • Counting Technique: Distract yourself from anxious thoughts by counting backward from 100 by 3s or performing a similar mental task. This exercise refocuses your attention.
    • Multiplication Tables: Mentally recite multiplication tables, starting with simpler ones (e.g., 2s and 3s) and progressing to more challenging ones (e.g., 7s and 8s). This helps shift your thoughts away from anxiety.
    • The 7-3 Technique: Think of a random number, subtract 7 from it, then add 3 to the result. Keep alternating between subtracting 7 and adding 3. This exercise requires concentration and refocuses your attention away from anxiety.

    Speaking Words

    • Word Association: Think of a random word and come up with as many related words or phrases as possible. This mental exercise distracts from anxious thoughts and engages your creativity.
    • Alphabet Game: Choose a category (e.g., animals or food) and think of an item within that category for each letter of the alphabet. This mental exercise occupies your mind and reduces anxiety.

    Additional Practices

    • Power Posing: Before approaching someone, assume a confident posture, such as standing tall with your shoulders back and head held high. Research suggests that power posing increases confidence and reduces anxiety.
    • Visualize a Positive Outcome: Picture a successful interaction in your mind before approaching someone. Visualizing positive outcomes can build confidence and lower anxiety.
    • Focus on Physical Sensations: Briefly concentrate on the sensations in your hands or feet. Focusing on these physical sensations redirects attention away from anxious thoughts.

    Conclusion

    • Developing the ability to manage anxiety and boost confidence when approaching women is crucial.
    • By practicing these grounding exercises you can improve your overall social interactions.
    • Remember to practice these techniques regularly, ensuring you become more comfortable using them in real-life situations.

Are You A Non-Vegan Dating A Vegan? 15 Tips To Help You

    [ad_1]

Love comes at a cost, we have all known it. Be it Noah and Allie from The Notebook or Jack and Ennis from Brokeback Mountain, or you who is facing difficulties because of, well, your partner’s diet. But dating a vegan will make you question a lot of ideas and you might just end up learning a lot from them.

First and foremost, what is veganism? The Vegan Society defines it as: “Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practicable — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans, and the environment. In dietary terms, it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”

As the plant-based lifestyle continues to gain popularity, there are more meat-eaters dating vegans now. While dating a vegan is like dating anyone else, yet you might occasionally bump into the “Veganism ruined my relationship” people to the “Our relationship is still going strong even after years” people. I was personally introduced to veganism when I was dating a vegan girl in high school. And trust me, there’s always room to learn new things.

Dating A Vegan – 15 Tips To Help You

Be ready for small challenges along the way, such as choosing a restaurant or debating the morality of your favorite leather purse. When asked about dating a vegan being a non-vegan, and if there’s a list of things to know when dating a vegan, according to this Reddit thread, a user said, “I’m not saying it will be impossible. But such a vast difference in diets will add a layer of difficulty to the relationship. If you exclusively eat at restaurants, you might have it easier, but cooking two meals at the same time is going to be a bothersome thing.

“Don’t let anyone tell you it will be impossible, though. Some alcoholics who have quit live with people who still drink, so if that isn’t an adversarial lifestyle, I don’t know what is. If both parties in the relationship can resist trying to aggressively convert the other to their lifestyle, it might just work out.” However, a few Reddit users said “Stop” and “Run away as fast as you can!”

No doubt dating a vegan is not easy and they may find it hard to date you too, but never forget Shakespeare’s words: “Love is not love, which alters when it alteration finds.” Here are 15 dating tips for my non-vegan fellows who are dating a vegan. Don’t worry, I am not going to ask you to blacklist your favorite ham and cheese.

    1. Do impartial research on veganism

Make every effort to confirm that a restaurant is vegan-friendly before taking a vegan there or buying them something from a shop. There are a wide number of things available that are unexpectedly not vegan, from orange juice to condoms. Even if your vegan partner is probably good at reading labels, it’s wonderful to give them something knowing that it’s vegan-friendly. This shows your attention in your relationship and care to their lifestyle or their health or the values they hold dear.

Whether it be chocolates, snacks, or makeup, make sure that your gift is vegan-friendly. Showing vegan-friendly consideration in your romantic gestures would be like a love language in your relationship. And let us be honest, the internet is available at the tip of your fingers, and it will take less than five minutes to search for the best and safest options for your partner.

    2. Vegan vs. vegetarian – the art of differentiation is a must

Many individuals mistakenly think that being a vegetarian and a vegan are the same thing. Now, vegetarians and vegans both refrain from eating meat, but the majority of vegetarians don’t give up on eggs and other dairy products.

For instance, a tofu scramble, which is prepared from soybeans rather than eggs, is vegan, while an omelet is considered vegetarian by many even though it is made from eggs. Pizzas with cheese are vegetarian, and as the society is getting more aware about veganism, vegan pizzas are now available at some restaurants.

    3. Pick the right spot and activity for your date

You need to be very picky about where you take your favorite vegan on dates.  Avoid going to the circus, farms, zoos, aquariums, rodeos, polo matches, bullfights, dog shows, county fairs, horseback riding, fishing, or any activity that is rooted in speciesism, the belief that animals are inferior to humans. There are numerous places that are notorious for their treatment of animals and that treat animals as if they are pieces of property with no agency and feelings of their own.

These activities may be enjoyable for some, but for many vegans, these places can cause a sense of moral discomfort, distress, and cognitive dissonance. When they observe how animals are treated, vegans may feel disgusted or hypocritical for participating in something that conflicts with their beliefs.

Vegans choose not to participate in exploitative activities involving animals. So look for date ideas where they can enjoy swimming and dancing, going to concerts, museums, live performances, and theater, eating at vegan restaurants, and more.

    4. Like in every relationship, respect your vegan partner’s boundaries

Is dating a vegan hard? Only if your vegan partner expects you to stop eating meat. However, dating a vegan does require a little more concession than usual. When you date a non-vegan, you won’t have to deal with the nuances of their lifestyle, which range from minor decisions like picking a restaurant for your date to more significant ones like whether or not they feel comfortable having meat in the house.

Find a comfortable middle ground you by keeping the lines of communication open. Balancing a vegan/non-vegan relationship can be done successfully with mutual respect for eating habits and a willingness to compromise. Your separate wishes come with separate dishes, and that’s okay. Respecting each other’s boundaries is an important part of the relationship.

Aiden (he/him), who is a 21-year-old business student, said, “When Jamie (he/him) and I started dating, I thought things would go smoothly. We were, after all, childhood sweethearts. I knew about his love for animals and his veganism. But when we moved in together, our lives got a little gloomy.

“There were times when I wanted to eat my favorites and share them with him (which is where I went wrong) but couldn’t because he wouldn’t allow them in the house, and then other things like my shopping and jokes started bothering him. With time, all we did was argue. Veganism ruined my relationship and as much as I support it, I still feel I should have respected his boundaries and he should have made room for my needs.”

    5. Be open-minded about your partner’s journey

Many non-vegans have a distorted perception of what being vegan entails, which may be attributable to the movement’s loud internet warriors. People frequently associate ‘vegan’ with irate, forum-trolling individuals, however, this isn’t always the case.

    • Diverse types of vegans exist, including juice addicts, philosophers, teachers, foodies, athletes, yoga enthusiasts, friends, and neighbors
    • Give up your preconceived ideas about what being vegan entails, and try to know your partner’s personal views
    • Ask them why they became vegan; you might be surprised by their response
    • Whether your partner has ethical, environmental, health, or philosophical reasons for going vegan, it is important to listen without judgment and be open to learning about it

Don’t go around saying “veganism ruined my relationship” before even trying to understand their end.

    6. Don’t hesitate to experiment

Although no two people (and no two vegans) are the same, it is reasonable to assume that the majority of vegans are interested in eating great food. Always remember, relationship needs efforts!

    • Look at any social media platform for #vegan, and you will find a table full of vegan dish ideas and cooking videos
    • You will definitely be introduced to vegan food now that you’re dating a vegan
    • Sometimes, plant-based foods may sound or appear a little strange, but good cooking can make all types of cuisines delicious and appetizing – whether it contains meat, is vegan, or is gluten-free

So, give your partner’s cooking a shot. It is a great way to show them your appreciation for their efforts and gives you a chance to enjoy something that has been prepared with skill, love, and care. After all, the proof is in the pudding!

    7. Show them your support

I am not going to ask you to become a vegan; ideally, neither will your partner, so don’t worry. Offer to accompany them to a vegan food festival or have a vegan dinner once in a while. Yes, there are things you need to have in common with your partner, but it’s okay if you don’t too. This can be a great way to show your partner that you care about the lifestyle/philosophy they are passionate about without giving up your personal dietary choices.

Breta (they/them), a 27-year-old fashion designer, when asked if dating a vegan is hard, said, “Dating a vegan as a non-vegan is no piece of cake – pun intended. From picking a restaurant to picking a gift, you have to walk an extra mile. But love makes you do crazy things. A vegan boyfriend is different from a vegetarian or/and a non-vegetarian boyfriend. And making your significant other happy and comfortable is necessary when in a relationship. Show your support through words and actions.”

    Show them your support

    8. Flexibility is key

The social element of becoming vegan is often the most challenging. Don’t be shocked if your vegan partner always has a container of hummus in their bag since gatherings with friends and family may be awkward, and it can be challenging to eat on the go. If you are planning a future with them, want to get married– flexibility is a key. You will be affected by the lifestyle, even if only a little, now that you are a couple.  Here are a few things you can do:

    • Be adaptable as they peruse the menu selections and shopping aisles in quest of a vegan-friendly fix. Let them do their own shopping separately if they want to, but offer to support them in any way possible
    • Accompanying your vegan partner on their food-related excursions may feel tedious at times. Still, it’s an important part of your relationship with them and part of the way you demonstrate your commitment
    • Let them choose the places for your dates as they might know more  places than you and they’ll keep your dietary choices in mind too
    • If you are planning to buy gifts for them, ask them or any of your vegan friends to help you with the shopping

    9. Do you want a pet? Discuss it with your partner first

Since pets aren’t being consumed as food, why would my significant other object to having a pet? At first, this reasoning might seem absurd but having pets is frowned upon by some in the vegan community. Simply put, a major distinction between many vegans and non-vegans is their views on speciesism.

Most non-vegans think that since humans are superior to all other species, it is okay to use non-humans for purposes such as food, clothing, entertainment, company, and so on and so forth. Since most vegans hold that all species  are equal, they don’t feel that they should be treated as property or used for human advantages and entertainment.

Whether vegans should keep non-vegan pets or not is a hot topic of discussion in the vegan community. Due to the fact that they are naturally carnivores, the animal might follow a carnivorous diet. Since they are not intended to be herbivores, it is only sensible to not impose a vegan diet and lifestyle on them.

    10. He’s a catch? Then he’s not a match

Language, human! One of the biggest things that surprises me is how much our language emphasizes cruelty toward animals. The huge power of words is probably now more apparent than ever. People are working to identify and eliminate ableist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and racist words and phrases from our language. Unfortunately, a lot of us also learned words and phrases that support animal abuse and speciesism.

From “Be the guinea pig” to “Not my circus, not my monkeys” we use these idioms and phrases all day without realizing the gravity of how they support speciesism and animal cruelty. PETA has released a complete list of animal-friendly idioms, because no one really wants to ‘break a camel’.

    11. Before introducing your partner to the family, introduce your family to veganism

You may want to present your significant other to everyone in your life, whether they are family members, friends, or even a landlord. Telling someone that your partner is vegan is a little vague and difficult to understand because the majority of individuals need to be, which is why this information should be shared in advance and detail.

Your family and friends would be less inclined to criticize your significant other’s veganism if you let them know how important it is to them and how you feel about it.

    12. Learn how to cook vegan food

Do you think partners who can cook make a best pair? Knowing which foods are vegan and which are not is one thing, making vegan meals is a different matter altogether. You’re in luck because everything, from vegan recipes to ingredients, is available on the internet. There are hundreds of vegan dishes from bloggers and vloggers around the world. Choose one or more recipes from there, and get cooking.

There are also an infinite number of vegan cookbooks available. Three of them are:

    • Raw by Charlie Trotter and Roxanne Klein
    • Vegetable Kingdom: The Abundant World of Vegan Recipes by Bryant Terry

    13. Do NOT ask them to “try non-vegetarian once”

The people close to you are undoubtedly aware of the big and small events that transpired in your life which altered your identity for all time. Similarly, your partner’s veganism is a part of who they are and has altered who they are. People become vegans for a variety of reasons, some of which are quite personal.

The key is to be conscious of their views and respect their choices in a relationship. Make sure you never ask them to participate in non-vegan cuisine or activities if you want to have a good romantic relationship with a vegan. Plus, you won’t be the first person (or the last) to try and change their mind about veganism. So, give it a rest.

    14. Show your love through words and actions

If you want to buy your significant other a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day or for your anniversary, make sure you are buying vegan chocolates. See if they are okay with receiving stuffed animals. If you’re buying them any processed food, make sure it has an official cruelty-free logo on it, otherwise don’t buy it.

IF you want to adopt some of the vegan lifestyle, I suggest the following:

    • Stop using leather – do all in your power to replace it with more ethical, vegan-friendly options for both your clothing and food
    • For instance, choose items with vegan leather the next time you shop for clothing or furnishings
    • Cut off anything made of wool, fur, or down
    • Reduce your meat intake if you can’t cut it down completely

    15. Plan your future together

Are you planning to take the next step? Are you planning to move in together? Are you planning to get married? One of the most serious conversations you will inevitably have with your vegan partner is whether or not your children will be raised vegan. This issue might be a dealbreaker for a few. Let your children make the choice for themselves when the time comes. Until then, don’t force any of the dietary habits on them.

It’s not harder to date a vegan than anyone else. You need an open mind, an open heart, and perhaps a couple of Glyde boxes.

    Key Pointers

    • Do your research and make sure you are aware about your partner’s beliefs or lifestyle around veganism
    • You don’t have to be a vegan  but don’t hesitate to experiment with their food and try their cooking
    • Flexibility is key and so is compromising (at times)
    • Communicate – less cruel language and more awareness
    • Your supportive and considerate actions toward your vegan partner are important
    • If you want to marry each other, discuss beforehand how you want to raise your kids

In conclusion, although dating a vegan may not be simple, it will be worthwhile if they turn out to be the ideal person for you.

    FAQs

    1. Is it hard dating a vegan?

It’s not harder to date a vegan than anyone else; you need an open mind, an open heart, and a will to accept their lifestyle. Dating a vegan girl and/or dating a vegan guy is like dating anyone who is non-vegan. Like every relationship, it has its own boundaries and uniqueness.

2.Is being a meat eater a turn off?

You being a meat eater could be a turn-off for many vegans as their dietary habits and lifestyle do not support animal cruelty. It goes against their values.

    3.How to date a vegan?

Make sure you go through the above list of things to know when dating a vegan. It will help you figure out the dos and don’ts of your relationship.

  • 4 Steps to Take When You Need to Forgive Someone

4 Steps to Take When You Need to Forgive Someone

    [ad_1]

The last step is to just say yes and forgive. As Nike would say, “just do it.” However, when you forgive, do it sincerely and completely. When you do this and you release the person who hurt you, you are actually releasing yourself.

Unforgiveness is a prison that you walk into and willingly lock the door behind you. It keeps you trapped in the past and hinders you from living fully and freely in the present. Therefore, it hurts your future. I am not saying this from a place of condemnation. I am saying this from a place of experience because I was the one who was trapped. When I came to the place where I forgave, the unnecessary weight I was carrying was gone and it made me wonder why I waited so long to do this.

How Do You Know When You Have Forgiven Someone?

As I wrap this up, there is this last question to address. How do you know when you have truly forgiven someone who hurt you? Here are two quick answers.

The first is when you remember the hurt, but the sting is gone. There really is no such thing as forgive and forget because our minds don’t work that way. Only God can forgive and forget. However, you can get to the place where, even though you remember the offense, it no longer hurts and you don’t hold it against that person.

The second way you know you have forgiven is when you can do something towards that person which you could not do before. This might be as simple as praying sincerely for them, having a conversation with them, sharing a meal, writing a letter, or sending a card for their birthday. Whatever the action is, it is one you could not do before, but you can do now.

    Conclusion

Let me recap the 4 steps to help you forgive others.

    1. Perspective

    2. Remember

    3. Acknowledge

    4. Yes

If you caught it the acronym is P.R.A.Y. When you are struggling with unforgiveness, then remember P.R.A.Y. and don’t just remember it as an acronym, but also as an action, because as you pray, God will empower you to help you choose to forgive.

Here’s The Secret To Flirting and Meeting Men

You can read the blog below or watch it on YouTube by clicking here.

Approaching men over 50 in real life can feel pretty scary because we are afraid of being rejected.

But it’s actually a lot easier than you think once you know how.

Flirting starts with you not being attached to how it’s going to turn out.

Instead, you’ll want to go into this with the mindset of having fun meeting someone new and interesting in the real world. (or online)

And if it goes somewhere, great.

If it doesn’t, don’t get discouraged.

Think of it as having had an opportunity to practice a new dating skill.

The art of flirting is about giving men a signal that you are safe to approach.

The first thing you want to do is make eye contact and smile.

This displays a feeling of warmth and friendliness, making it easier for a man to approach you.

To get his attention, ask him a question.

Most restaurant bars have televisions tuned into sports.

Sports are an easy icebreaker because you can always ask something about football, baseball, or basketball based on what’s on the big screen.

You want to keep your questions open-ended, which means staying away from yes and no questions that can stall a conversation before it ever gets started.

Once things get rolling, you can extend your hand and say, “Hi, I’m Lisa.”

He’ll extend his hand and say, “Hi, I’m Mike.”

Use his name often in the conversation. People love hearing their names.

A really easy way to do this is by complimenting him . . . “Oh Mike, you have the most gorgeous blue eyes.”

Men love flattery just as much if not more than women do, so genuinely compliment him when you can.

While the two of you are talking, you’ll want to continue the art of flirting by laughing, leaning in when he speaks or lightly touching him on the arm or hand from time to time.

Also feel free to use light sarcasm that is playful about you, him, or the two of you.

It’s important to keep reading “the vibes” that are happening during all of this.

    If you find you’re only getting one-word answers . . . it’s likely he’s not interested.

But if he engages, talks and compliments you, you’ve begun a connection.

And you want him to ask for your phone number.

Here are a couple of ways you can make that happen without appearing too forward.

If he asks what you do, pull out your business card and say, “Here’s what I do, Mike.”

This is a very subtle way of giving him your number without being too obvious about it and if he’s interested, he’ll give you a call.

You can also let him know how much you liked meeting and talking with him.

Then add, “I would really enjoy having the chance to continue learning more about you.”

Again, you’re showing him it’s safe to ask you for your phone number.

Let’s say during your time together, you’ve been talking about spots around town or new restaurants that have opened.

You can always relate back to this topic by saying something like, “If you ever find a great place you enjoy, let me know.”

This is another subtle way to get him to ask for your number.

Now here’s a fun way to get his number.

You can ask him a question like, “Do you eat out every night or do you cook for yourself?”

Once he answers, ask him, “What’s your favorite thing to cook?”

When he tells you what it is you can say, “I have an amazing recipe for that, would you like it?”

If he says yes, you can say, “How about I text it to you when I get home. What’s your number?”

A little more forward but not super aggressive.

Go out and use what I’ve shared with you today about flirting.

  • 5 Things That Hurt Relationships with Grandkids

5 Things That Hurt Relationships with Grandkids

    [ad_1]

My children have been blessed to have consistent, weekly, sometimes daily interaction with their grandparents. But unfortunately, this isn’t always a gift for some families. Even within our own, we’ve experienced conflict and tensions that can—if left unresolved—hurt the relationship between grandparent and child.

There’s no question that a healthy relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is a wonderful thing. Often, what can be overlooked, is that the bridge between them is the parent. Ripples can begin to affect the peace when that isn’t taken into account, and sometimes, all-out fights may ensue.

    Let me give an example.

A few years ago, one of my children let a word fly that – in our house – is as generic as exclaiming “darn!” It’s not of four-letter word severity, nor was it swearing or taking the Lord’s name in vain. However, my parents weren’t particularly fond of this very popular and prevalent word. When my child used it, they were reprimanded and schooled on the impropriety of the word. My child came home in tears. My parents were unaware of the effect the incident had on my child. My husband was upset that my parents attempted to “parent” our child about something we have not made a disciplinary issue. The tension became inevitable. By cutting out my husband and myself from the disciplinary lecture for my children, my parents infringed guilt on my children for doing something wrong; they also started to worry that both my husband and I were “naughty” (Since we frequently use the word). While it did get resolved through explanation, compromise, and a willingness on both parties to listen, it could have easily become a wedge.

My parents had to resolve themselves that their daughter and her husband had a different set of standards. My children had to learn that different sets of standards exist and that it doesn’t make the grandparents or parents on either side wrong, but rather, just different. They also learned to respect the boundaries in each home and recognized that this particular situation wasn’t a sin issue, and they weren’t disrespecting God when they used the word.

A three-cord strand binds a family together in these situations: Grandparents, parents, and children. If not recognized, respected, and maneuvered carefully, situations (even minor ones) can create rifts and hurt the relationship we cherish between grandparent and grandchild. So, what are some obvious distinctive things to avoid when trying to protect that relationship and not hurt it for the long haul?

    1. Be conscientious of parental authority.

As grandparents, it can be extremely difficult when you disagree with how your children are raising your grandchildren. Whether it’s minor or something more major, it can create anxiety and even frustration within you. But challenging parental authority will typically only succeed in alienation. Instead, tread respectfully. Your influence in your grandchildren’s lives is far more important than making your point or even correcting your own children. There will more than likely be moments you can have honest, non-volatile conversations with your children. In the meantime, be aware of the guidelines they have set, honor them as much as possible, and spend the time you have investing in your grandchildren’s lives.

    2. They’re not yours.

As hard as it is sometimes, remember your grandchildren are not yours. This means you really have no “rights” to them, as much as it feels that you do. Demanding time with them, insisting that things be arranged to fit your lifestyle, or lecturing your children on how to raise your grandchildren will not inspire a healthy relationship.

Boundaries within this relationship dynamic are important. Recognizing your place as supplemental and not parental will be key to having a healthy relationship and regular visits with your grandchildren.

    3. Saying “yes.”

Grandparents are known for spoiling their grandkids. As a parent, I both love and despise this. Despise, because it makes me less popular than Grandma. Hee, hee. But truthfully, saying “yes” to the grandkids too often can result in hurting the relationship you have with them. Remember, your grandkids don’t need to be bought with things, but rather, your time, your investment of you, and your love. Too many yeses can breed entitlement, and your role as a grandparent will potentially be redefined as the fairy godmother who grants wishes rather than a loving role model.

Being aware of the balance is important. Granted, as a grandparent, you can probably afford to say “yes” more often than a parent. Still, your grandchildren still need to understand and enjoy the security that comes with guidelines, boundaries, and a well-placed “no.”

    4. Distancing yourself.

Sometimes geography cannot be helped. Miles between you may be a necessary evil that you must live with. However, if you are within easy distance of your grandchildren, you’ll want to be aware that distancing yourself from them can be as damaging as expecting to see them whenever and wherever you wish.

What does “distancing” mean? It means not showing interest, including, or inviting your grandchildren into your world. It’s important that your own social life or hobbies don’t overtake your time to the extent you sacrifice time with the grandkids. Have your kids called and asked you to watch the grandchildren? What’s your response? Granted, life has obligations, but have you made your grandchildren a necessary part of your life and time?

Remember, if you don’t foster a relationship with them while they’re little, as they age, they will likely age out of being interested in time with you.

    5. Be a safe place.

Grandparents should be a safe haven for their grandchild. Obvious morals and virtues aside, there are other areas where safety can become a wedge that may hurt the relationship. Consider the bedtime stories you’re telling, the shows/cartoons you allow them to watch, the music you expose them to, etc. It’s not uncommon that grandparents may have a different grade by which they measure what is and isn’t appropriate. Do you also respect those of your grandchildren’s parents?

Also, a difficult topic may be aging and your ability to offer a safe environment for your grandchild. Are your driving skills where they need to be for safety? Are you physically capable of caring for the grandchild? While it may be agony to be honest and realize your faculties are diminishing, it may hurt the relationship with your grandchild when you insist that you’re capable of various things and your children push back—on behalf of their children—with question/doubt that you are. Be honest with yourself and them. Recognize your limitations, if there are any, in order to preserve the relationship you can have with your grandchild.

There is no perfect equation to grandparenting—the same as I’ve discovered there’s none to parenting either. So much of it seems like common sense, and yet our personalities, convictions, restrictions, and commitments can get in the way of quality relationships.

Your grandchildren will cherish time with you. Your children will cherish your investment in their children. But it does require communication, cooperation, respect, and healthy boundaries. Even in situations with extremely difficult or delicate tensions, first and foremost, your relationship with your grandchild/children needs to be safeguarded. This may mean biting your tongue, hitting your knees in fervent prayer, or compromising.

Remember, you are planting in your grandchildren seeds of legacy. That legacy will live with them long after you have passed on.

Meet the Group Fighting Abortion Misinformation, One Reddit Post at a Time

    [ad_1]

Imagine you just discovered that you’re unexpectedly pregnant. Maybe you’re a teen living at home in Texas, where you’ve heard abortion is illegal. Maybe you live in California, where abortion is legal, but don’t have anyone you can talk to. What do you do?

For a large and growing number of people, the answer is: ask Reddit.

Fortunately, if you find your way to r/abortion, you’ll be greeted by a supportive community of people who’ve had abortions, as well as trained volunteers who know the answers to your questions—or where to find them. This is thanks to the work of Online Abortion Resource Squad (OARS), a volunteer organization that brings accurate and supportive information to r/abortion, fighting the abortion misinformation that runs rampant online one post at a time.

OARS was founded in 2019, after Ariella Messing—then a Ph.D. student and abortion fund volunteer—found her way onto r/abortion and noticed that the information being shared there was “uneven.” Sometimes it was helpful; often it wasn’t. Her initial thought was that a big organization should be compiling resources and responding to questions in the subreddit. But a friend also involved in abortion access encouraged her to go ahead and get started, and helped recruit volunteers.

“From that day on, we committed to making sure every post had a good answer,” said Messing, now a Ph.D. candidate in bioethics and health policy at Johns Hopkins University and OARS’ operations director.

OARS currently has about 25 active volunteers who handle a volume of roughly 1,000 posts per month. However, this number doesn’t fully capture the amount of work they put in considering that helping some users can require days of back-and-forth communication. And the group’s reach goes beyond its active volunteers, who aren’t the only knowledgeable people in the subreddit: Many past volunteers are still active in the forum, and those who’ve sought help there often stick around to offer advice and support to newcomers. A few of those people have even become OARS volunteers. For Messing, that’s the point.

“Our goal was never to have OARS-identified people in the forum answering your posts like a peer education website,” Messing said. “It was always about teaching people how to identify resources that are or aren’t trustworthy, and then how to use them. To elevate the general level of knowledge and familiarity among everyone there.”

Recently, OARS volunteers intervened to stop one poster from going to an anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy center.” They provided her with links to legitimate clinics in her area and information about an abortion fund that could help cover the cost of the ultrasound she was seeking. A few months later, she replied to a post from another user in her city with a link to the same clinic and the name of the fund.

Oftentimes, people who’ve had abortions return to the subreddit and post minute-by-minute accounts of their experience to demystify the process for others. These seemingly mundane details are exactly what a lot of people want, Messing said. Abortion is highly stigmatized and can therefore seem scary. Knowing, for example, that clinic wait times can be long simply because they’re busy—not because abortion procedures are themselves long or complicated—is the kind of detail that can set a person’s mind at ease. Other users are looking for emotional support, especially when they’re not receiving it from friends, partners, or family members.

“I’m looking for support since I seriously have no one else to talk to about this,” wrote one user, who said her partner had repeatedly postponed a vasectomy and refused to accompany her to her abortion appointment. She wanted to break up with him, she said, and expressed regret for staying in the relationship as long as she had. “I feel so stupid. Please I just need some kind words.”

Her post received dozens of comments. “I see a woman who is in a tight spot and knows how to get out of it and is brave and strong enough to survive this … holding you with love and dignity,” wrote one user. “Please don’t shame and blame yourself for your pregnancies,” wrote another. “You are being wise in managing your reproduction … You are not stupid for loving someone and trying to make the relationship work.”

A few days later, the original poster followed up. “I went to my appointment by myself like I told you, and seeing the partners of the other gals waiting for them, made me feel soooo lonely,” she wrote. “I took out my phone and checked my post just to find even more supporting comments. Reading all those kind words made me feel accompanied and less nervous.”

“That’s really when I’m happiest, is when people who are not repro people, are not volunteers, but just regular people who may have had very little knowledge of this super stigmatized experience, are then able to help other people in similar situations,” Messing said.

OARS members saved the subreddit from near collapse two years ago after the former top moderator kicked out—but eventually reinstated—some OARS volunteers. A quirk of Reddit is that whoever claims a subreddit first becomes the “top moderator.” Top moderator privileges include the power to boot other moderators out, which is what happened after OARS members asked the largely inactive top moderator to step back. After they went public with the drama, though, the top moderator relented and stepped down. As a result, r/abortion is now moderated and run entirely by OARS volunteers.

These volunteers take six-hour shifts, and a member of the group is available more or less 24/7.

Based on traffic numbers Messing shared with Rewire News Group, r/abortion gets anywhere from 600,000 to over 900,000 hits in any given month, with the number of unique visitors in that time ranging from around 45,000 to over 70,000. Though it’s impossible to know exactly who is visiting the subreddit and why, these numbers certainly suggest that in addition to the people who receive direct answers or support on r/abortion, many more may be learning from simply reading the questions and replies.

Demand is also certain to continue growing as more states ban or severely restrict access to abortion, especially in the wake of a federal judge’s ruling last week that has the potential to halt sales of mifepristone, one of the pills used in medication abortion, nationwide. However, when it comes to OARS’ operations, everything from fundraising, to communications and social media, to training and supervising volunteers currently falls on Messing. What started as a side project for her in 2019, has, for the last two years, been a more-than-full-time job that she does without a salary. Asked what the organization most needs to move forward, Messing said the answer is capacity—and capacity costs money.

“I literally need more of me,” she said. She needs to be able to hire herself, and more employees after that. “The thing is that Reddit doesn’t close,” Messing said. “And so, we don’t. The only way for the organization to be sustainable and to keep meeting the growing need is to become much more systematized.”

Messing wants to be able to keep helping people on Reddit. But she also wants to transmit everything she and the other OARS volunteers have learned there out to the broader movement. After all, through fielding hundreds of Reddit posts per day, OARS members gain a keen sense of what the most common misconceptions or points of confusion are when it comes to accessing abortion. There’s disinformation perpetuated by the anti-abortion movement, of course, but there’s also a lot of misinformation spread by well-intended sources.

“The people who are coming to Reddit are teaching us so much, and their voices aren’t being heard in service provision, in research, in all sorts of places,” Messing said. “They’re coming to Reddit because they’re not getting the information and support that they need, and they’re clearly laying out exactly what those needs are. So now it’s time to take those lessons and relay them to other groups, and help them implement changes or to rethink things. Some good should come from all this work that people are doing to advocate for themselves.”

On the internet, information gaps will always be filled—the question is, with what, and by whom.

“I think the biggest problem isn’t the trolls or the antis, it’s more people who are really well-intentioned and are sure that they’re correct when they are super, super wrong,” said Alex van Vliet, another OARS volunteer.

Van Vliet lives in the Netherlands and has been involved with Abortion Network Amsterdam since 2018. Abortion Network Amsterdam is part of Abortion Without Borders, a coalition geared toward helping people in Poland get abortions. However, its member organizations also help people from across Europe, especially those who need care beyond the first trimester due to the fact that most European countries ban abortion at some point in the second trimester. (The Netherlands, where abortion is legal until 24 weeks, is an exception.)

U.S. advocates have been vocal in criticizing “Auntie Networks” and other efforts that, at best, poorly replicate existing organizations like abortion funds and practical support networks, and at worst mislead people and mishandle sensitive information. This is not just a U.S. problem, said van Vliet, who said she’s seen similar issues in Europe—most recently around the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which sparked sudden but uninformed concern among many Europeans about victims of sexual violence in the war.

“In those sorts of situations, I see that people are genuine,” van Vliet said. “But sometimes they are so obsessed with the idea of being a helper that they forget that you need to provide help that is actually helpful.”

Helpful but uninformed people aside, there’s also a lot of confusion resulting from things like out-of-date clinic websites or advocacy organizations that provide slightly conflicting information. The list here is long and can seem nitpicky, but small inconsistencies are exactly the sort of thing that send people to Reddit panicked and looking for help. This is especially true for people who are self-managing their abortions, particularly if they live in states where abortion is illegal.

For example, thanks to public information campaigns about self-managed abortion, lots of people may know that if you have both mifepristone and misoprostol, you take one mifepristone followed by four misoprostol. But they don’t necessarily know how long you’re supposed to wait in between (the answer is 24 to 48 hours), or that if you’re nine or more weeks pregnant, you should take a second dose of misoprostol four hours later. Many sources leave out information about additional doses of misoprostol entirely; those that include it often have conflicting information about how to time the doses because some providers follow different protocols that may or may not have been updated based on the latest research.

Given the looming possibility that legal sales of mifepristone could be halted in the United States, many abortion providers have said they’re ready to switch to misoprostol-only protocols. However, some sources share conflicting information about dosage and timing with this method, too.

Another common source of confusion with both protocols: Misoprostol is taken by placing the pills against a mucus membrane for 30 minutes, during which time the body absorbs the medication. This can be done by placing pills in the cheeks, under the tongue, or in the vagina. People often come to Reddit panicked that their pills didn’t visibly dissolve. This is actually fine, as long as the pills stayed in place for the full 30 minutes—but no one has told them that. Some research indicates that taking the misoprostol vaginally leads to fewer side effects; however, pill fragments can also be detectable to a health-care provider that way. Putting the pills in the cheeks or under the tongue is therefore safer for people in restrictive contexts, but that’s another nuance that is often left out of infographics and social media posts.

Even fewer sources explain that urine pregnancy tests typically remain positive for several weeks following an abortion, and that some people will still have a false-positive test more than a month later—yet another source of unnecessary panic for many people.

Messing understands why resource pages often leave out this information: Advocates worry that if the information isn’t straightforward enough, it won’t be accessible to all. But “oversimplifying can lead someone to do something that’s really not safe, medically or legally,” she said, adding that it’s paternalistic to assume people can’t handle nuance.

“I think we have to respect people enough to understand that when given clear, accurate, and thorough information, they are fully capable of making the best decisions for themselves in the context of their lives and their priorities,” Messing said. “We owe that to them.”

Reddit is a place where abortion seekers are asking directly for what they need. Rather than guessing at which details are the most important to include in public-facing resources, Messing wants advocates to be able to access this existing trove of information.

“When people give us feedback on their experience, that’s so kind of them. And it’s also something they shouldn’t have to do,” she said. “And then not to have a vehicle for relaying it, or the capacity to do so, is a failure of this terrible system that we’ve got.”
