Top Canadian Law Firms’ Courtroom Performance Revealed by Legal Analytics Software

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 19, 2017

A Miami-based software firm is causing ripples in the Canadian legal sector with the release of its free Canada Courts Report 2017, which ranks the nation’s top lawyers and law firms based on their courtroom performance. Although data from the courts analyzed in the survey, which range from the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) to the Territorial Court of Yukon, has been publicly available for many years, Premonition is the first company to create a comprehensive, searchable archive of these records. The Canada Courts Report ranks the most successful litigators in each court according to the percentage of their cases won over the past three years, providing the public with a taste of the deeper analysis available to Premonition clients.

“What we’re talking about here is translating the performance of lawyers and firms into hard statistics,” says Premonition CEO and Co-Founder Guy Kurlandski. “For literally centuries, legal services have been a credence goodbuyers make their best guess based on a firm’s marketing and reputation, and win or lose, never really know whether they made a good purchase or not. We aim to put an end to this unfair system.”

“The rankings you see in the Canada Courts Report are fairly basic,” continues Premonition’s other Co-Founder and CIO Toby Unwin. “All they tell you is who has won the highest percentage of their cases in a given court. Once you dig a little further into the numbers though, you start to get a picture of why certain attorneys win more than others.”

One of the value propositions Premonition mentions over and over again in their materials is the centrality of the relationship between a lawyer and a given judge. The impact of judicial preference on Canadian court decisions has long been anecdotally testified to, but quantitative research has been limited by the sheer scale of data involved. Now, with a few keystrokes, Premonition can identify outlier attorneys who massively over- or under-perform before certain judges. Internationally, the company has claimed this lawyer-judge dynamic accounts for a 30.7% skew in case outcomes.

“If a modest investment in the legal ‘scouting’ we provide can turn a corporate client’s litigation portfolio from a 50/50 proposition to an 80/20, that represents a potential savings in the millions,” Unwin notes.

Canada is Premonition’s most recent national expansion, joining operations in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Australia and more. Per its report, the firm is currently seeking a Canadian representative. Thanks to the controversial response its previous domestic rankings have provoked among attorneys who don’t find themselves listed, local partners like Premonition UK’s Ian Dodd often find themselves making industry headlines.

“There were a fair number of upset barristers when we released our first Courts Report for the UK,” says Dodd, “but before long I was taking calls every day from firms with clients who demanded performance data before putting money on the table. Now it’s ‘the new black,’ and Premonition’s right in the thick of it.”

Premonition’s Canada Courts Report 2017 is available now as a free download at https://www.premonition.ai/reports.

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 19, 2017

GlobalAustin, a student and visitor diplomacy program with ties to the U.S. Department of State, will be presenting their Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit featuring U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro on Sept. 19. The event is being billed as an opportunity to bring together local, national, and international leaders in order to “foster connections and growth in the international exchange community” and address the critical role of citizen diplomacy in the modern world.

Representative Castro will open the event by addressing “the vital need to improve international dialogue starting at the local level, the role of individual citizens in creating a positive U.S. image in the world, and the impact of U.S. foreign policy on local communities,” according to event chair Aditi Joshi.

The vital need to improve international dialogue starting at the local level, the role of individual citizens in creating a positive U.S. image in the world, and the impact of U.S. foreign policy on local communities.

    Aditi Joshi, Event Chair

During his presentation, Castro will answer two important questions:

    • How do public diplomacy programs and international programs contribute to the well-being of Texans?
    • What foreign policy issues are most important to Texas?

Castro represents Texas’ 20th congressional district as he has done since 2013. His district covers just over half of San Antonio along with some of its suburbs. Prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Castro represented the 125th district in the Texas House of Representatives.

Also participating in the summit is the Honorable Ron Kirk, former Dallas mayor, Texas Secretary of State, and U.S. trade representative. He will address the summit at 9:30 a.m. with his presentation, ‘Why Leading Globally Matters for Texas: The impact of U.S. foreign policy and global events on Texas businesses and communities’.

Lastly, U.S. Department of State representatives will participate in the event, including Foreign Service Officer, Stacy White, Director of the Office of International Visitors and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and Foreign Service Officer Ian Brown who will emcee the summit. Mr. Brown has extensive experience as a diplomat in both Latin America and Africa.

“We are delighted that we have a diverse group of speakers and panelists who will contribute their thoughts and opinions on a memorable day at the Texas state capital,” said Joshi. “Seats are limited for the morning sessions, so registration is required for that time.”

Joshi says that the afternoon panel discussions and the evening reception in the Scholz Garten are both offered free of charge. Anyone interested in learning more about the mission and vision of GlobalAustin is invited to attend them.

The Diplomacy Begins Here summit is a single day event planned for Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Texas State Capitol building. Registration is limited; those wishing to attend should visit the event website and follow the registration link.

Over the years, it grew into an important leadership organization that eventually became affiliated with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. QATAR: A Dangerous Alliance

    [ad_1]

Crisis in the Gulf Cooperation Council and threats to American, European, and Middle Eastern Security are subjects of new documentary

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 18, 2017

Experts from academia and leading international think tanks provide insight and analysis on the current crisis in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where member states continue to boycott the peninsular country of Qatar, in Qatar: A Dangerous Alliance — a new documentary by the award-winning production company PIC Media.

“There is a list of radical groups that the Qataris support,” explains Jonathan Schanzer, vice president of research at Foundation for Defense of Democracies and former counter-terrorism analyst at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. “This includes Hamas. It includes the Taliban. It includes Nusra Front, the al Qaeda group from Syria. It includes the Muslim Brotherhood. It includes jihadists in Libya, and, more broadly, extremists from across the Arab world.”

Our objective is to provide an authoritative and compelling overview of the dangerous situation in which Qatar finds itself, while also providing an objective analysis of the dangerous consequences that situation is creating for the rest of the world.

    William Nixon, Writer and Director

At the same time, Qatar: A Dangerous Alliance examines the complexity of that country’s relationship with western nations. “Qatar is both an ally and an adversary of the United States,” says Lee Smith, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute. “This is the role that Qatar has been playing for the last 20 years. They continue to support a lot of bad actors, while also hosting our largest air base in the Middle East.”

Other experts include Ambassador Husain Haqqani, a foremost thought-leader on terrorism and the Muslim Brotherhood, who served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2011, and Alex Vatanka, senior fellow from the Middle East Institute and a leading authority on Iran and its engagement with Qatar.

According to William Nixon, who wrote and directed the film, “Our objective is to provide an authoritative and compelling overview of the dangerous situation in which Qatar finds itself, while also providing an objective analysis of the dangerous consequences that situation is creating for the rest of the world. To achieve this, we produced the documentary in six easy-to-watch-and-share chapters — each one examining concerns shared by Qatar’s neighbors in the Gulf, as well as the U.S. and Europe.”

    Chapters include:

    1. A Troubled History, examining Qatar’s history and relationships within the GCC
    2. Brothers in More than Name, focusing on Qatar’s relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood
    3. Dangerous Designs, analyzing Qatar’s growing alliance with Turkey and other elements promoting Islamism
    4. First Among Equals, placing the normalizing relationship between Qatar and Iran in context of Iran’s designs in the region
    5. The Voice of Al Jazeera, exploring the line between news and propaganda and how Qatar’s government-funded network influences a radical Islamist agenda
    6. Follow the Money, investigating how Qatar uses untold wealth to maintain alliances with the western nations, while at the same time funding radical and terrorist activities undermining those same nations

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 14, 2017

The well-known GlobalAustin international visitor program is joining forces with a number of other organizations to sponsor the first ‘Diplomacy Begins Here’ summit on Sept.19 at the Texas State Capital building. The single day event will include presentations by U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk.

Event organizers are promoting the summit as a way to “find out how current global challenges are affecting Texas and how local citizens can become effective citizen diplomats, representing Texas in the United States,” according to the event’s official invitation. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the legislative conference center. The summit will conclude at 5 p.m, followed by an evening reception in the Scholz Garten. Live entertainment will be on hand for the reception.

    A Focus on Citizen Diplomacy

GlobalAustin and its partners have planned for the first of what they hope to be an annual summit to heavily emphasize citizen diplomacy and professional and cultural exchange programs such as the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Between the two main speakers and each of the six panel discussions on the day’s agenda, attendees will participate in discussions in which citizen diplomacy is applied to business, sports, youth voices, the information age, international trade, and foreign policy. IVLP Alumnus Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou, Founder and Curator of TEDxAthens, will provide keynote remarks about the impact of his exchange experience.

In addition, there will be diplomacy simulation activities for students in attendance. The activities will give students an opportunity to learn how diplomacy works in the real world through hands-on applications.

“This exciting, all-day summit will feature expert speakers on U.S. foreign-policy priorities as well as panel discussions exploring the concept of citizen diplomacy as it applies in areas such as international journalism and cultural diversity,” said PR spokesperson and GlobalAustin board member Aditi Joshi. “We are also offering sessions designed especially for students interested in diplomacy as a career.”

A Deliberately Different Future for the Utility Industry

Renowned Energy Futurist Jack Uldrich will address Wabash Valley Power in Indianapolis, IN.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 7, 2017

Global Futurist Jack Uldrich says, “The future often has a funny way of turning out differently than most people expect.”

The difference between expectations about the future and reality have been the cause of significant disruption in numerous industries.

The Utilities Industry is poised for an extraordinary change in the years ahead–what has served the industry well in the past won’t be sufficient for remaining competitive in the future.

JACK ULDRICH, FUTURIST & FOUNDER OF THE SCHOOL OF UNLEARNING

Regarding “expecting the unexpected” in the utility industry, back in 2009 Uldrich said, “It is conventional wisdom that the world’s energy needs will grow significantly in the years ahead and the only way to meet this growing need is to build more coal and nuclear power plants. This future may come to pass but what if Smart Grid technology, LED lights, real-time pricing, and home networks dramatically reduce energy usage?”

Fast forward to 2017, the trends he mentioned in 2009 are dramatically reducing energy usage.

Uldrich is now asking, “What if the abundance of electrical power—and not its scarcity—is the greatest problem facing the industry in the future?

Is the Utility Industry is prepared for such a future? He says, “The time to begin thinking about these accelerating changes is not in a few years. The time is now.”

Today, he will deliver a keynote on the future of the industry for the Wabash Valley Power Association in Indianapolis, IN. They bill themselves as “a deliberately different kind of electric company.”

Uldrich will discuss with them how emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Wearable Devices, the Internet of Things, and new Blockchain Technology could impact utilities in some unexpected ways.

As a leading energy futurist, Uldrich has addressed dozens of service associations. He has delivered customized keynote presentations to the American Public Power Association, the Northwest Public Power Association, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Wisconsin Public Power, San Diego Gas & Electric, Southern Company, Northwestern Energy, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Idaho Power, Northwestern Energy, and the Western Energy Institute.

Public Policy Regulatory Alliance Supports Proposed Bouncer Regulations

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 1, 2017

Earlier this year, Heather Jones was faced with the unthinkable task of saying goodbye to her beloved husband, 37-year-old Luke Jones, a Daisy Mountain firefighter and paramedic. Jones’ untimely death was determined to be the result of an assault that occurred at a Phoenix nightclub during which one of the club’s bouncers, 26-year-old Brandon Draper, is alleged to have struck the 12-year veteran of Daisy Mountain Fire Department repeatedly. Though Draper has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident, Heather believes more should be done to prevent such a tragedy from occurring in the future.

Recently, she has proposed that state legislators pass a bill requiring stricter hiring and training policies for bouncers in Arizona, an initiative that has the full support of members of the Public Policy Regulatory Alliance (PPRA). The PPRA is the Arizona chapter of the Association of Club Executives, a trade association of America’s adult nightclubs.

When hiring, I prefer security personnel with law enforcement or military backgrounds and would be hesitant to hire anyone with a background in mixed martial arts such as Brandon Draper had.

Rebecca DeVaney, Owner, Sonny’s Gentlemen’s Club

Currently, Scottsdale is the only city in Arizona to have developed a police department-lead security training program required of bouncers working in Scottsdale nightclubs. But according to Rebecca DeVaney, the executive director of the PPRA, mandatory training should be implemented state-wide. As an adult club owner herself, DeVaney requires a background check and ongoing training for all security personnel. Bouncers are required to obtain security guard certification cards from the Department of Public Safety and routinely participate in drills that teach them how to de-escalate a situation before it becomes a physical altercation. “When hiring, I prefer security personnel with law enforcement or military backgrounds and would be hesitant to hire anyone with a background in mixed martial arts such as Brandon Draper had,” states DeVaney. Additionally, staff attends annual sex-trafficking prevention courses conducted by the Department of Homeland Security.

The Public Policy Regulatory Alliance is also an Arizona State Registered Lobbying Principal. Participating members of the PPRA offer their lobbying support of the Luke Jones Initiative.

2ndPassports.com Introduces Its World Citizenship/Residency Program Index

    [ad_1]

It has never been easier for wealthy individuals from areas like Africa, Asia and the Middle East to gain life-changing second citizenship or residency to a Western country.

Today, virtually every nation in the EU as well as countries like the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand offers a citizenship or residency by investment program, and now 2ndPassports.com’s World Citizenship/Residency Program Index gives prospective customers an “at-a-glance” instant assessment of the best of those programs.

If you are familiar with phrases like “Citizenship by Investment”, “Golden Visa” or “Passport Power”, chances are you will be only too aware of the phenomenon of second citizenship – i.e., the practice of gaining a second citizenship and a new passport, mainly practiced by wealthy individuals from third world countries. Not only is such a practice perfectly legal, it is actively encouraged, and almost every democratic nation in the world now offers such a program, including the UK, USA, Germany, and Russia.

Today, virtually every nation in the EU as well as countries like the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand offers a citizenship or residency by investment program

    Anthony Miles, Business Development

Second Citizenship – Much More Than Just The Latest Fashion Accessory

Second citizenship and residence specialists 2ndPassports.com have been in business since 2004, and have witnessed first-hand the industry’s decade-long rise from a business once considered somewhat shady, to a practice as an open, popular and indeed fashionable among the wealthy as purchasing a new mansion, supercar or yacht.

Of course, while they might have the same €1.2 million price tag, there is a very big difference between a Bugatti Veyron and a Maltese passport when it comes to usefulness. If you hail from a nation like China, India, Iran, Afghanistan or Sierra Leone, you won’t be able to travel very far in that Bugatti without a briefcase full of visas.  However, if you are packing that Malta passport you will be able to cruise around the Schengen Area unhindered, drive the length and breadth of the Americas, much of Africa, the Far East and finish up in Australia, all without the need of a visa.

The number one reason foreign investors from outside the EU spend serious money on a second citizenship or an investor visa program is to gain citizenship to a European country, become the owner of a correspondingly powerful passport, and enjoy the freedom and work-related benefits that such an investment brings.

An EU passport has access to an average of 160 countries without the need of a visa. An EU citizen has the right to live and work without limitation in any other country in the European Union. Needless to say, for an intelligent, hard-working individual with big ambitions who has previously been held back by their nationality, to suddenly be able to produce a legal, bonafide passport of a country like Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Portugal or even Germany or the UK with their name on it is a complete game-changer, to say the very least.

But it’s not just EU countries that are offering such enticing programs. 2ndPassports.com’s World Citizenship/Residency Program Index reveals that nations like the USA and Canada have very popular programs, as do Caribbean island paradises like St. Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda, countries also famous also for their status as tax havens.

    The Five Crucial Factors

The World Citizenship/Residency Program Index ranks the programs of almost 30 countries including the UK, France, the US, Germany as well as Brazil, Ireland, Nicaragua, and Turkey. The ranking is based on five crucial factors – a program’s VALUE, it’s ease of PROCESSING, its SIMPLICITY, The POWER of its passport, and the QUALITY OF LIFE such a program provides an investor.

Needless to say, the index shows in detail which countries are offering the best overall programs, and also throws up some surprising revelations, with unheralded nations often outperforming major powerhouse economies in some categories.

However, the real beauty of 2ndPassports.com’s World Citizenship/Residency Program Index is that it offers curious would-be foreign investors an “at-a-glance” instant assessment of which citizenship and residency programs currently score highest, offer the best value, and provide the most powerful passport for their particular budget, and therefore this index could prove to be the catalyst that results in an investor taking that first vital first step of the process of gaining that life-changing, door-opening and freedom-giving second passport.

    updated: Jul 19, 2017

Hello Neighbor, a mentorship program for post-resettlement refugees in the U.S., is proud to announce it has secured funding from USA for UNHCR and The Heinz Endowments. The combined $130,000 in funding will be used to run Hello Neighbor’s pilot mentorship program that officially launched in June 2017.

“After spending 15 years working in nonprofits and international development, I’m thankful for the opportunity to help the refugee community in my hometown with this new organization,” said Hello Neighbor founder Sloane Davidson. “The financial support of both USA for UNHCR and The Heinz Endowments, just months into the launch of Hello Neighbor, is an exciting moment as we work to better the refugee experience in Pittsburgh.”

Hello Neighbor supports refugees in their new lives by building community through mentoring with American families to highlight cultural similarities. The four-month pilot program currently hosts 25 refugee families from six countries (Myanmar, Bhutan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria) with 25 American mentor families of varying backgrounds in the Pittsburgh area.

“Hello Neighbor offers Americans the opportunity to connect with refugees as friends and neighbors to share meals, assist with driving lessons, and joyfully celebrate life moments like birthday and graduations. USA for UNHCR is proud to support Hello Neighbor in our shared mission to give refugees the hope they deserve, restore their dignity, and help them rebuild their lives,” said Anne-Marie Grey, Executive Director and CEO of USA for UNHCR.

The Heinz Endowments, one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the United States, uses the Pittsburgh region as a laboratory for the development of solutions to challenges national in scope. The funding awarded to Hello Neighbor is part of The Heinz Endowments’ commitment to youth and education in the region.

Funding from USA for UNHCR and The Heinz Endowments will also support a signature Refugee Advocacy Certificate which provides training for mentors on the global refugee crisis. Mentees can receive additional financial support through Hello Neighbor’s Refugee Assistance Fund to access educational and economic empowerment opportunities. Hello Neighbor also maintains a National Database of Refugee and Immigration Assistance Agencies, which was highlighted by The New York Times.

Foundation Urges Greater Support of Drug Education by OSCE

    [ad_1]

At an OSCE conference July 10-11, Foundation for a Drug-Free Europe stressed the importance of drug education in addressing the drug crisis affecting Member States.

    Press Release

    updated: Jul 17, 2017

At a conference in Vienna organized by Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) July 10–11, Foundation for a Drug-Free Europe stressed that drug education is an essential element in any effective drug prevention strategy. Attended by executives and staff of ministries of interior and police of the 57 OSCE Members States, the conference was called Combating the Threats of Illicit Drugs and the Diversion of Chemical Precursors,“The Nexus Between Illicit Drugs, Organized Crime, and Terrorism.”

Representing Foundation for a Drug-Free Europe (FDFE), Dr. Christian Mirre spoke to the importance of providing young people with factual information about drugs and alcohol. He described the Foundation’s network of more than 100 groups carrying out drug prevention activities across Europe, and the results they have achieved through delivering education that empowers adolescents, teens and young adults to make informed and self-determined decisions with regard to these substances.

Fifty-four Member State delegations, Partners for Co-operation, and 28 International Organizations, Academic and Business Circles and Non-Governmental Organizations participated in the three sessions along with members of the OSCE Secretariat and OSCE Institutions. Under discussion were the following themes:

    • Links Between Illicit Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime and Terrorism
    • Illicit Drugs as a Source of Financing Illicit Activities
    • Cross-Cutting Issues

Dr. Mirre asked those attending to urge their respective governments to reconsider the budgets allocated to dealing with drugs and what he described as the disproportionately high funding of harm reduction, treatment and repression compared with funds allocated for prevention, specifically drug education.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free Europe coordinates a drug education initiative known as the Truth About Drugs. The program uses 14 youth-friendly booklets and public service announcements on the most commonly abused drugs, and a documentary also covering these substances. A network of volunteers distributes the booklets and provides lectures and seminars in cooperation with thousands of schools in over 180 countries. The materials help youth understand the short, medium and long-term consequences and negative effects of drugs.

The campaign has been embraced by hundreds of entities including city governments, schools, military and police organizations, sports clubs and community and religious leaders. Scientology Churches and Scientologists support the program, making its materials available free of charge to those wishing to use it to educate others on the truth about drugs.

The OSCE is the world’s largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization. Its comprehensive approach to security encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.

  • Asia Pacific Advanced Farming Market to Be Worth $5.83 Billion by 2022

Asia Pacific Advanced Farming Market to Be Worth $5.83 Billion by 2022

    [ad_1]

The ever-increasing food demand, need for water management system and government and UN support are factors that will propel the growth of Asia Pacific Advanced Farming Market.

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 13, 2017

Asia Pacific Advanced Farming Market to grow at a CAGR of 13.6% to reach $5.83 billion by 2022

Infoholic Research LLP, a global market research and consulting organization, has published a study titled “Asia Pacific Advanced Farming Market: Drivers, Opportunities, Trends, and Forecasts, 2016–2022”.

“Advanced farming technologies are currently being used by private firms and agrobusinesses for commercial farming in Asia Pacific. Most of the farming population are still dependent on traditional farming methods. The market will steadily grow in the next 5 years as countries are investing in advanced farming. Japan wants to reduce its dependency on imports while the Philippines will invest to tackle issues arising from climate changes. China and countries in South East Asia hold a good potential for start-ups, while the market in ANZ will grow with improvements in support and services.”

Jaydeep Bhattacharjee , Group Head at Infoholic Research

Advanced farming is a term coined for IT enabled farm management system to manage and identify the variability in the field for optimum profitability and land sustainability. Advanced farming technologies namely high precision positioning system and variable rate technology help farmers to take intelligent decisions on enhancing crop yield and ensuring a better harvest. These technologies are also useful in tracking animal health.

The enhanced demand for high quality and diversified food products in domestic and international markets, central government initiatives towards agriculture will continue to drive the market in this region. Advanced farming address the evolving needs of the farmers. Government support in agriculture is creating awareness among farmers about the latest farming technologies. Once they are convinced about the benefits they are interested in investing in the technology. The initial high outlay required makes farmers in the underdeveloped economies resistant in investing in this technology.

Increasing concern about climate change, food scarcity and the need to adopt environment friendly farming practices will drive the market. Cloud based FMS is an emerging trend in the advanced farming market. Farm activities can be monitored even from remote locations. An alert message is received if any variability is observed in the health of the farm animals. Cloud based FMS is popular in Australia.

China hold the major share in APAC market followed by ANZ. ANZ is exhibiting good prospects for advanced farming because several agribusinesses and private firms are interested in improving the export market and would not hesitate in making investments. They are also exploring the possibility of applying this technology in organic farming and in exploiting the large unused land in Australia.

The market is segmented by technology, applications and services. The technology segment includes variable-rate technology (VRT), high precision positioning systems, automated steering systems, remote sensing, and integrated electronic communication.

The application segment includes fleet management, livestock farming, forest farming, aqua farming, and horticulture. Services include integration services, maintenance services, and training & consulting services.

China and countries in South East Asia hold a good potential for start-ups, while the market in ANZ will grow with improvements in support and services.” – Jaydeep Bhattacharjee – Group Head at Infoholic Research

Insight: Why We’re Not as Self-Aware as We Think with Dr. Tasha Eurich
    Saturday, June 17th at 10 a.m. & 10 p.m. EST

Dr. Tasha Eurich is an organizational psychologist, researcher, and New York Times best-selling author. She’s built a reputation as a fresh, modern voice in the business world by pairing her scientific grounding in human behavior with a pragmatic approach to solving problems. Over her 15-plus-year career, she’s helped thousands of professionals — from Fortune 500 executives to early stage entrepreneurs— improve their self-awareness and success.

With a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Colorado State University and BAs in Theater and Psychology from Middlebury College, Tasha is the principal of The Eurich Group, a boutique executive development firm that helps companies — from start-ups to the Fortune 100 — succeed by improving the effectiveness of their leaders and teams.

She has contributed to the Huffington Post, Entrepreneur Magazine, and CNBC, and her work has been featured in Forbes, Fox Business, and Fast Company, as well as peer-reviewed journals. She has been named a “Top 100 Thought Leader” by Trust Across America, a “Leader to Watch” by the American Management Association, and one of Denver Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.”

Tasha’s first book, Bankable Leadership, debuted on the New York Times bestseller list in 2013 and has since become a popular resource for managers and executives who don’t want to choose between making their employees happy and producing bottom-line results for their business. Her second book, INSIGHT, delves into the connection between our self-awareness — what she calls the meta-skill of the twenty-first century — and our performance and success, both in and out of the workplace. Fortune calls it a “sprawling exploration of the psychic frailty that leads to self-delusion and self-aggrandizement, and — importantly — a compassionate, helpful guide for avoiding that path (or reversing it).” Her TEDx talk has been viewed more than a million times. Educating Children: Doing What Comes Naturally

    [ad_1]

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Provider Janet Wade of Knoxville, TN, featured by National CACFP Sponsors Association

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 1, 2017

Many young children play school and pretend to be a teacher. Janet Wade knew from her early years, she not only wanted to play school, but be an actual teacher when she grew up. She has now been in education for almost 30 years, first as a paraprofessional in the local school district and then moving on to owning her own home child care.

At Janet’s child care, the children prepare for Kindergarten through themed teaching. She tries to incorporate many lessons around one centralized theme, including nutrition. For example, on St. Patrick’s Day, the children participate in a green taste test. Any kind of green fruit or vegetable that you can imagine is on the menu. Many times, the testers might say they don’t like something, but all have to participate in “1-2-3 – BITE!” with everyone taking at least a small bite on the count.

“This just comes naturally to me. I love it and I enjoy working hard, encouraging the children to be creative and to continually create new ideas and opportunities so that learning is fun.”

    Janet Wade, Child Care Provider

Within the themed units, children are given the opportunity for physical activity. Some days, they pretend to be snowflakes falling gently to the ground or dancing through the air. Other days, the children are the wind, hissing like a snake or fluttering like a butterfly.

In addition to learning opportunities through themed units, the children experience the community around them. During the Christmas season, children make cards for older patrons at Janet’s church, and every year they visit St. Jude’s Hospital. They also work together as a child care community to plant a garden each spring and study good citizenship traits such as kindness, sharing and respectfulness daily. Any parent will know that not only is their child going to be well-cared for, but they also have rewarding learning experiences to take with them to the next stage in life.

CACFP is an indicator of quality child care. When children are cared for by providers who are part of the CACFP program, they are receiving the best nutrition available. Learn more about other CACFP providers featured in our Member Showcase at our website, www.cacfp.org.

Since 1986, the National CACFP Sponsors Association (NCA) is the leading national organization for sponsors who administer the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We provide education and support to thousands of members in the CACFP community and in particular to sponsors of all sizes from across the country. We strive to improve communication between families, caregivers, sponsors, and their supervising government agencies.
