Amy Dowden, who has been having treatment for cancer, admits accepting her new body won’t “happen overnight”.
Strictly Come Dancing pro star Amy, 33, underwent a mastectomy in 2023 following her breast cancer diagnosis last May.
Amy later received a second diagnosis of another form of cancer, which required chemotherapy.
The Welsh star has also suffered devastating setbacks with sepsis, a blood clot on her lung, and a broken foot.
Due to her health struggles, Amy was unable to participate fully in the most recent series of the BBC One dance contest. However, she did make a triumphant return to the dance floor as part of a group performance in December’s final.

Amy Dowden cancer latest news
Amy married her husband Ben Jones in 2022. And it was the day before their honeymoon in April 2023 when Amy found a lump in her breast. However, their trip to the Maldives was overshadowed by what happened to Amy.
And so, the couple have recently gone on a second honeymoon to Grenada. During Tuesday’s (January 30) episode of Lorraine, Amy explained how she is trying to resume her life following her health issues.
“The past year has been tough,” Amy reflected.
She went on: “Cancer diagnosis, treatment, a mastectomy and some setbacks. But I’m determined to get my life back on track. Finally, we are honeymooning in Grenada!”
I’m determined to get my life back on track.
Amy also detailed how Ben was unaware about the lump she discovered while they were away.
Amy continued: “A totally different feeling from when we were on our honeymoon in the Maldives because Ben didn’t know. But obviously I had this cloud over me.
“I was present in my first honeymoon but I really wasn’t because I found the lump. I was hiding it from Ben.”
‘I’ve got a new body, I’ve got scars’
Resilient Amy also conceded it may take time for her to fully recover from her ordeal.
But she is determined to stay positive – and “accept” how illness has changed her.
“Before coming to Grenada, last week, I had seven appointments in one week so coming here and getting some Vitamin D, escaping hospital wards and appointments and medication is just gorgeous!” Amy went on.
“I’ve got a new body, I’ve got scars. But I think it’s something that I’ve got to learn over time I’m going to accept. It’s not going to just happen overnight.”

She added: “I’m being put into situations that I wasn’t at home. Having to put a bikini on, being all exposed in summer wear rather than at home wrapped up in jumpers, jeans and boots. Hopefully it’s only going to get progressively better!”
A bubbling conflict from the last series of the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing – the original show of the global Dancing with the Stars franchise – has broken through the surface with a celebrity contestant reportedly demanding she receive footage of her dance rehearsals to assist in a possible legal claim.
Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington was paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice for the most recent series, but only made it a few weeks into the series before she departed citing medical reasons.
Abbington did not return for the finale of the series before Christmas, amid reports of friction between the pair during rehearsals. Pernice, a former champion on the show, is known to be intensely competitive and quite the taskmaster with his celebrity partners.
The paper quotes a production insider saying: ““The BBC has received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request. There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes. Things in rehearsals can become very tense.
Meanwhile, the paper says Abbington needed therapy after leaving the show, with an insider quoted: “It has taken her months to get over what she went through. It was a real shock as she was initially so excited to sign up to the show to learn to dance, but instead she experienced an ordeal.”
Strictly Come Dancing is one of the BBC’s most successful shows. It has just finished its 21st series in the UK, while Dancing With the Stars continues to air across the world.
The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has revealed how she thought she would be sacked before the second series of the hit BBC show.
The Scottish-set reality TV competition was one of the BBC’s biggest hits last year, earning a whopping 34 million views on iPlayer in March.
And now The Traitors is set to return for its second season, with the first episode airing on Wednesday (January 1).

Claudia Winkleman reveals fears of ‘sacking’ as The Traitors returns
Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Claudia has opened up about her fears for her future on the show.
“I was hopeful they’d ask me back but you don’t take anything for granted,” she told the tabloid.
I don’t take anything for granted. You mustn’t do that because we never know what might happen
She continued: “And they phoned me and said, ‘We’re going again’, and I thought they were going to say…” she trailed off.
Claudia continued: “You know, I never take it for granted. Even with Strictly, I don’t take anything for granted. You mustn’t do that because we never know what might happen.”

What can we expect from The Traitors Series 2?
As before, a cast of 22 individuals will gather in a remote Scottish castle. There, a small number of competitors will be picked out by Claudia as this series’ Traitors.
The remaining members of the group – the Faithful – must then try to uncover the Traitors in their midst.
Every night, the Traitors will ‘murder’ one of the Faithful. The next day, the group must then attempt to banish those they suspect to be Traitors.
If a Traitor remains at the end of the competition, then the potential £120,000 prize pot will go to the Traitor(s) alone.
Strictly star Amanda Abbington wasn’t invited to perform during the finale of the Strictly Come Dancing, according to insiders.
The 51-year-old was partnered up with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice during the 2023 series.
However, Amanda was forced to leave after five weeks due to “personal reasons”. A source close to The Mirror is now claiming that she “wasn’t invited back” for the show’s finale.
Strictly Come Dancing: Amanda Abbington absence
The insider revealed: “There was a lot of talk on set about Amanda’s notable absence from the finale. It seemed unfair that Nigel was invited back and she wasn’t. I imagine she was upset by the snub. It would have been nice to have seen her return for one last dance. Especially as she was so popular on the show and well-liked by viewers.”

At the time of Amanda’s departure, a BBC spokesperson said: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”
Amanda, meanwhile, said: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue.
“It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.”
Taking to her Instagram yesterday (Saturday, December 30) Amanda spoke out about her departure in depth. This comes after she didn’t return to the show for the group dance in the final. One Strictly viewer said on her post: “I was truly distraught with her sudden departure from the show.” Amanda replied: “Thank you, angel. So was I.”
While Amanda decided not to return for the final, she did however send a message of support to the three finalists on Instagram. She shared a snap of the three couples standing with the glitterball trophy and wrote: “Good luck tonight to these six beautiful humans.”

When the report claiming Amanda wasn’t invited to the final was put to the BBC by ED!, a spokesperson said: “Amanda decided to withdraw from the competition, therefore did not return for the final.”
Strictly panelist Anton Du Beke is extremely happy to have been voted as the Best TV Judge at this year’s 2023 Entertainment Daily Awards.
Even though the other judges were nominated in the same category, Anton won by a landslide. After weeks of voting, he won the title by 52% of the vote. While he was a clear winner, Craig Revel Horwood came in second with 15%. Motsi Mabuse was next with 10%.
Following the news, Anton took to Instagram to share a heartfelt video.

Anton is ‘overwhelmed’ by the honour
In his video upload, Anton expressed that he is “thrilled and overwhelmed, delighted, excited, all of the above” for winning the award.
“I have to say thank you very much indeed to everybody who voted. It’s just the greatest honour. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I’ve got the best job in the world,” he continued. “I’m on the best show in the world with the best panel of judges in the world.”
Even though he has spent many years with the show, Anton referred to the most recent Strictly series as “incredible”. He also stated that his fans are “the best”.
In his caption, Anton wrote: “My loves, I am so very honoured to have been named ‘Best TV Judge’ in the #EDAwards2023 – Christmas has come early!!! A huge thank you to everyone at @entdailyuk and to all you wonderful people who voted – you’re the best!”
Anton Du Beke’s followers state that his win is Strictly ‘deserved’
Receiving floods of support, Anton’s followers believe his win is more than deserved.
“Congratulations Partner! Well deserved” former Strictly contestant Ruth Langsford wrote.
“Is there anyone else to consider. You certainly deserve it!” another person shared.
“Sooo deserved Anton. You’re the best judge on Strictly,” a third remarked.
“You deserve the award Anton, many congratulations,” a fourth commented.
He raged on Twitter at the time: “I made a life choice that was best for me and Victoria. There was no foul play at all. To then attempt to bring lovely Jowita into a storyline you created out of thin air is just wrong.”

“There’s a feeling about the Christmas special,” Jowita gushed.
“The atmosphere, everyone is so calm and so happy, there’s no stress. And even if something goes wrong, it doesn’t matter because it is Christmas!”
Asked why he wanted to take part, Danny admitted he wouldn’t have participated in the Strictly Christmas Special previously.
He explained: “I felt it in my chest that it was the right thing to do, so I committed to that and felt like I wanted to do it, so I said yes.”
And regarding his dance experience, Danny joked: “Just a lifetime of stepping into the beat. I really enjoy dancing. Learning steps is different but now I understand a bit about the Cha Cha Cha and what I need to do to bring it alive, so I am looking forward to that.”
‘A whirlwind’
He went on: “I enjoy the way that I move to the beat of the music. Because it makes me feel good. I think everyone looks good when they dance if they are giving it their best shot, even if they are out of beat, it still is a talent to do that because that’s different. There is no right or wrong way. So I enjoy dancing myself. Whether I look good or not is not down to me.”
Danny, who will be wearing a waistcoat on and no shirt for the performance, also indicated he felt ‘blessed’ to be involved.
Jowita reckons Danny is “an absolute trooper (Credit: BBC)
“It’s been a whirlwind of an experience,” he said.
“It’s a blessing and to step into Jowita’s world, and for her to teach me some special moves. But also the humility and the grace that she works under, it’s the essence of who she is. While being an absolute genius at what she does, it’s so nice to be around. She’s world class, but so humble.”
Danny’s got the moves.
Jowita, meanwhile, returned compliments, hailing Danny as “an absolute trooper”, adding: “He’s got the moves.”
Other celebs taking to the dance floor for Christmas 2o23 include telly host Tillie Amartey, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, Sugababe star Keisha Buchanan, BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent, and TV historian Dan Snow.
Strictly: Brendan Cole on Craig Revel Horwood crying
Speaking to Sky Bingo and ED!, professional dancer Brendan Cole pointed out Craig wasn’t the only one tearing up.
Speaking about the judges, he said: “They all seemed a little emotional, it was a bit weird. Craig wasn’t the only one. Anton [Du Beke] had a little tear in his eye when talking to Bobby. They were all emotional.”
Brendan Cole confessed it wasn’t just Craig Revel Horwood that was emotional in the final (Credit: BBC)
He continued: “I suppose there’s speculation that it could be Craig’s last series.
“He might be hanging up his boots and maybe that was why he’s feeling like it was the end of an era. Who knows what goes on in people’s minds? Obviously, we as punters don’t see the stuff that goes on behind the scenes, we don’t see the relationships formed.”
He also said the final saw some strong performances
He then went on to say that after the show, the judges and the contestants drink together.
“It was a powerful final, lots of strong dancing, lots of heartwarming statements, good stories between them all. So who knows? Maybe it just made everybody a little bit more emotional,” he explained.
Strictly couple Tyler West and Molly Rainford have shared the news they have taken a huge step in their relationship after they bought a new flat together.
The former Strictly Come Dancing stars told Hello! that they’re not only moving in together, but committed to a mortgage, too!
“We’ve just bought our first home together. It’s mad to say that but when you know you know… it’s the right time,” Tyler said. Tyler added that he never “saw this coming” as Molly chipped in: “Everyone who meets us says it’s as though we’ve been together forever.”
Strictly news: Tyler West and Molly Rainford take huge step
The couple will move into their East London flat in the New Year following their first anniversary and their first Christmas as a couple. Tyler confessed of his EastEnders star girlfriend: “I had no idea where I needed to be, then there was Molly right in front of me.”
Despite meeting on Strictly, the duo didn’t have their first date until just before embarking on the Strictly Live Tour last January.
Tyler then said that he took a step forward and asked Molly on a date. “We snuck out the back of the hotel and went to a chicken spot. We had rum punch and spoke for hours,” he said.
Elsewhere, Molly admitted that she hid her relationship from everyone, however, later told Fleur East and Kai Widdrington that they were seeing each other. They responded with “we knew it”.
Molly confessed that for a week the two of them were “sneaking around” but everyone knew they liked each other.

Strictly secrets
Recently, Molly told The Mirror about what fans don’t see when watching Strictly at home. She said: “I don’t know if this is unique to Strictly but they have a warm-up guy for the audience. He tells a lot of jokes and wears a lot of sparkly blazers. ”
She continued: “It’s Just to keep everyone entertained while they’re waiting for us to get ready to go live, which is quite cool, and the song that they always play before is Sweet Caroline to get everyone singing.”
As he gave feedback on Ellie and Vito’s showdance, Craig’s emotions got the better of him. Speaking about how the lift went wrong in their dance, he said: “I’m so pleased that you did take a risk. And I think back, actually, to series one and I was imagining Natasha Kaplinksy doing that and how far this programme has come.
Choking back tears, he said: “You’re amazing”.
Perhaps it was just the occasion that led to Craig getting teary-eyed. However, body language expert Judi James has suggested it could mean that his time on the show is coming to an end.
Craig, of course, has been on the show since it launched in 2004. Could this be his final year?

Craig Revel Horwood to quit Strictly?
Speaking to The Mirror, Judi said that Craig showing his softer side on TV was “out of character”.
“Last night though Craig was openly tearful and overwhelmed at times. Tears might flow like Niagara on Strictly but Craig’s were authentic and fans are right to wonder what was prompting them,” she said.
“His verbal messages gave clues that he was being nostalgic and sentimental. He said he’d been thinking back to the first show and how far it had progressed, which can imply someone is leaving a show, taking one final look back and seeing it as a whole, rather than as ongoing,” she then continued.
Judi then said that Craig’s emotional behaviour continued throughout the show and that all the fighting back tears were genuine.
“By the end, he was just clapping rather than speaking, which is a rare move for a judge during the millions-of-viewers finale show. Hopefully, he wasn’t dropping hints about it being his last show. Strictly just won’t be the same without Craig,” she said.
Were Layton and Nikita ‘robbed’? (Credit: BBC)
Layton ‘robbed’, fans claim
In other Strictly-related news, fans claimed that Layton had been robbed of the Glitterball Trophy last night (Sunday, December 16).
Layton and Nikita picked up two perfect 40s, as well as a 39, for their three performances last night. However, they were pipped to the trophy by Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.
Some fans believed that Layton and Nikita had been “robbed” of the award.
“Layton was absolutely robbed,” one fan fumed. “Great final and I have nothing against Ellie and Vito but Layton and Nikita were robbed. Such a shame,” another said.
“What a final. Congratulations to Ellie and Vito although personally, I would have preferred Layton and Nikita to have lifted the Glitterball,” a third said.
Amid rumours of a ‘feud’ between her and Giovanni, he was said to be “devastated” by the decision to withdraw.
However, he has subsequently participated in group dances on the show. But going into Saturday (December 16) night’s final, Sherlock actress Amanda was not expected to feature as eliminated contestants returned for one last whirl on the Strictly dance floor.

Strictly 2023 final news: What happened to Amanda Abbington?
Towards the end of yesterday evening’s finale, every other 2023 contestant who hadn’t made the last three spoke about their experience of the show in a talking heads segment.
However, Amanda did not pop up on the screen at any point. She did not participate in the group dance for all of the Strictly couples that had already departed the competition, either.
“They’ve missed Amanda Abington off the montage #StrictlyFinal,” one fan said, adding a pair of eyes emoji to their words.
Lol at how Amanda has been totally deleted from Strictly.
And someone else reacted: “Lol at how Amanda has been totally deleted from #Strictly.”
But while Amanda didn’t appear to make any new contributions to the last episode of the series, it isn’t accurate to suggest she was entirely erased from the final.

‘Amanda and Giovanni were amazing’
That’s because Amanda’s involvement was acknowledged in another segment. It came shortly before the 2023 winners were announced as Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.
The mention came as two fans reflected on Amanda being part of 2023. Furthermore, the few moments dedicated to Amanda (and Giovanni) seemed to be the same amount of screen time concerning other former contestants in the series.
Over footage of Amanda and Giovanni walking together, one of the fans was heard to say: “Amanda was one of the reasons I started watching the show.”
And another added: “Her and Giovanni were amazing.”

Additionally, there was another, briefer shot of Amanda on screen as the 2023 contestants’ initial introduction was revisited.
But the impression that some social media users were left with included the tweeted thought: “Amanda really said byeeeee #Strictly.”

Someone else made use of six grimacing emojis as they posted sarcastically: “So Amanda Abbington wasn’t in this year’s Strictly obviously.”
While another fan added: “Amanda and Gio getting the BRIEFEST mention in the #Strictly flashback, woulda liked less tbh x.”
Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier has reportedly ‘banned’ his grandmother from the audience amid her feud with his dad, Jeff.
Proud dad Jeff Brazier has been in the audience to see every one of son Bobby’s dances in the competition. However, grandma Jackiey Budden – mother of Jade Goody – has reportedly been told not to attend.
This is due to a long-standing feud between her and Jeff. Strictly bosses have allocated Bobby 22 tickets for friends and family to see him dance.
Not one of these tickets have gone to Jackiey.

Jackiey Budden to miss grandson Bobby Brazier’s final Strictly appearance?
A Strictly insider told The Sun: “There is a lot of friction between the Brazier side of the family and Jackiey for several long-standing reasons. But viewers have been surprised not to see Jackiey in the Strictly audience as she is Bobby’s grandmother.”
The tabloid’s source continued: “The prospect she is now facing is either not getting to see Bobby before he exits the semi-final, or not being allowed to watch him in person if he makes it to the final and wins the glitterball.”
Jackiey recently hit out at Jeff, saying: “He’s been a [bleep] for [bleeping] nine years”.
“I think Bobby could be in trouble this week. Although he has done really well to get through to the semi-finals, he isn’t the strongest dancer in the competition. Based on his last performance, Bobby was lacking slightly compared to Layton and Ellie,” said body language expert Darren Stanton.
“He has definitely had a turbulent journey on the show. I did think Bobby could have been a potential winner, but there’s been a few facial expressions and a real lack of confidence in recent weeks,” Darren continued.
In the latest Strictly news, a body language expert has handed Bobby Brazier a blow, noting his “lack of confidence” that could lead to him being eliminated ahead of the final.
Despite being considered a fan-favourite with the public, Bobby and his dance partner Dianne Buswell found themselves in the dance-off a couple of weeks back. Due to their progress from week to week, they were saved by the panel. As a result, Angela Rippon was sent packing.

Strictly news: Bobby handed blow week before final
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots, body language expert Darren Stanton believes Bobby “could be in trouble this week”.
“I think Bobby could be in trouble this week. Although he has done really well to get through to the semi-finals, he isn’t the strongest dancer in the competition. Based on his last performance, Bobby was lacking slightly compared to Layton and Ellie,” Darren said.

“He has definitely had a turbulent journey on the show. I did think Bobby could have been a potential winner, but there’s been a few facial expressions and a real lack of confidence in recent weeks,” he continued.
This weekend, Bobby and Dianne will do a quickstep to Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin. For their second dance, they will perform a paso doble to Run Boy Run by Woodkid.
Body language expert believes Annabel is the next to leave (Credit: BBC)
Could Annabel be the next star to leave?
While Darren is confident Bobby might face the dance-off, he is sure that Annabel Croft will be the next celebrity to be sent home.
“I definitely believe Annabel could be the star to leave. She seems the most nervous out of the four contestants left. Overall, her confidence levels are the least out of the remaining celebrities. She also bites her lip at certain times, which is a self-reassurance gesture. I think Annabelle has reached her level,” he said.
“When I look at Annabel and Johannes performing together, what they do well is telling the story. They’re incredible at conveying emotion together for the audience. They’re able to paint the picture so brilliantly,” Darren continued.
Despite Annabel and Johannes Radebe’s chemistry on screen, Darren insists that they are not as tight or close as the remaining couples.
“Something is lacking between them. Annabel comes across as quite guarded still, and she’s holding herself back. She’s done incredibly well to reach the semi-finals, however I do believe she will be leaving the competition this week.”

If you’re a fan of Dancing With the Stars, you may have wondered how to watch Strictly Come Dancing in the US to see the original show DWTS is based on. Strictly Come Dancing—also known as Strictly—is a reality TV dance competition, which partners celebrities with professional dancers and sees the pairs perform predetermined ballroom and Latin dances each week and compete against each other for judges’ points and audience votes.
The couple with the lowest combined total of judges’ points and audience votes is eliminated each week until only one pair remains. That pair is declared the winner. The name Strictly Come Dancing is a combination of the BBC dance competition show Come Dancing, which ran from 1949 to 1998, and the 1992 movie, Strictly Ballroom.
Since its premiere in May 2004, Strictly Come Dancing has run for more than 19 seasons and holds a Guinness World Record. The show has also been spun off in more than 60 countries, including the United States, under the title, Dancing With the Stars. At a press conference in 2021, Strictly Come Dancing‘s executive producer Sarah James explained the show’s decision to expand to same-sex pairs. “It’s definitely something that we’ve always wanted to do and I’m really excited about John [Whaite] doing it. I think he’s already proven that he’s an amazing spokesperson for it and obviously, he’s a household name and he is just a brilliant guy so I’m really looking forward to it being John,” she said at the time.
She continued, “I think Nicola [Adams] and Katya [Jones] were amazing last year and I think everybody really, really enjoyed that partnership. It was obviously a shame that it was cut short because of what happened but they’ve 100 percent paved the way. The research that we’ve done since has prove that everybody really, really appreciated that partnership so I’m looking forward to John doing that.”
Strictly Come Dancing season 21 airs on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. GMT (1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. PT) on BBC One.

Amy Dowden has shared a personal message with Strictly fans after being rushed into hospital last week for a blood clot in her lungs.
The 33-year-old Strictly Come Dancing star took to her Instagram stories and thanked her fans for their supportive messages. She also said that her appearance on the BBC show was “just what she needed.”
Amy Dowden thanked fans
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for the lovely messages I’ve had the last few days. I’ve got ones like: ‘Amy don’t push yourself.’ But honestly being at Strictly yesterday. With the week I’ve had was just what I needed, mentally more than anything.”

“Obviously a rubbish start to the week rushing to the hospital. A few nights in the hospital. But I go into Strictly is the tonic I need. You know going in. Getting my hair and make-up done. Having my wig done and putting on another glamorous outfit. Being pampered. And standing here watching my best friends, being here for the big moment. It’s just what I need right now,” she said.
She reflected on her journey so far
However, she also admitted she’s been really careful since breaking her foot, so she’s resting up and watching lots of Christmas movies. She added: “Obviously in the three weeks since finishing chemo. It was a bit delusional of me to think ‘Right let’s go.’ I wanted to do hair and make-up since April May. And I wanted to dance on Strictly, as that was the plan.”
She added: “I was supposed to be dancing in the semi-final week. And you know just chuck myself into everything. But I broke my foot and then a blood clot on the lung.”
Meanwhile, Amy revealed that she’s having her living room renovated and that she’s glad it will look different, as it currently reminds her of memories of the past eight months.
Strictly fans were left devastated last night when Nigel Harman was forced to pull out of the competition. The news was revealed just hours before the live show was due to begin.
The Casualty actor had to quit after sustaining an injury. As it was the quarter finals there was no option for a bye to next week – and arguably, Nigel wouldn’t have been well enough to perform by then anyway.
He appeared on Saturday night’s show (December 2) alongside pro partner Katya Jones. As they explained what had happened they were both tearful at having to say goodbye.

What injury did Nigel Harman sustain on Strictly?
Strictly shared news of Nigel’s departure on their social media accounts, writing: “Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from Strictly.”
Nigel then appeared on the show with Katya, looking tearful and upset. He explained what had happened.
He said: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men and as I flew I was Peter Pan and as I landed I was in A&E. So I’ve done something to my rib. I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well!”
He went on to add: “I’ve loved it, I am loving it, it’s too soon to say ‘loved’.
“When I watched everyone coming down the stairs I was like ‘oh this is real, I’m not part of this any more’ that was quite sad.”
Katya struggled to talk due to the emotion in her voice. But she managed to say: “I have absolutely loved every moment of us creating magic on the dancefloor. I know the reasons you did this is for your daughter and for your parents. Especially missing out on this number, I know your parents would be very very proud of you. I hope you got something out of this you’re going to cherish forever in your broken rib.”
Nigel went on to say: “Kat, the only reason I’m standing here is because of all the work you’ve put in to me. You turn up every day with hundreds of ideas. You challenge me, push me and support me, and make me laugh. You’re part of me now. I can’t even look at you,” he said as he welled up.
They then showed a reel of all of their best bits.

Fans react to departure of Nigel Harman from Strictly
Those watching at home were ‘gutted’ over losing Nigel.
“Gutted about Nigel having to leave,” shared one. Another added: “Nigel’s speech had me crying tears out my eyes amongst other places.”
“Heartbroken for Nigel Harman and Katya Jones tonight. Nigel is so right, Katya is one of the most talented and imaginative dancers on the show, and one of the reasons I started having dance lessons,” admitted one more.
Someone else said: “I’m feeling so sad for Nigel and Katya. They were so brilliant and I really loved all their dances. Also Nigel seems like such a lovely guy and Katya was the perfect partner and her choreography was amazing. And knowing how much Nigel loves musicals.”
“Stoppp I’m actually devastated for Nigel and Katya. Poor Katya is mess, I really believed they were finalists, gutted for them,” said another upset viewer.

Plea to see the Charleston
Nigel had been planning to perform a Charleston last night to Step in Time from Mary Poppins. And fans are gutted they didn’t get to see it. They have urged the BBC to show the footage from rehearsal either on tonight’s Strictly results show or It Takes Two next week.
“Wasn’t the same without Nigel wish we could have seen that Charleston from rehearsal,” said one.
Another agreed: “Hopefully we get to see a clip of what Nigel and Katya’s Charleston would have looked like before the injury, such a shame we won’t get to see it now, it looked great and that it could have been his breakthrough moment.”
“Come on Strictly It Takes Two, show us the full Nigel and Katya routine from dress rehearsal. We were so looking forward to it!! Love that number, one of the best musical numbers ever and from the clips we’ve seen it looked incredible,” begged one more.
Someone else also asked: “Strictly, any chance we could see the rehearsal in full of Nigel and Katya’s dance if it’s been caught on film. I think everyone would love to see it.”
“GAH!! Show us one of Katya and Nigel’s rehearsals!!?!” another said.

Will there be a Strictly elimination tonight?
As a result of Nigel’s exit, no one will go home tonight. Instead, their scores will be carried over to next week’s semi-final and added together.
It leaves Ellie Leach, Layton Williams, Annabel Croft and Bobby Brazier battling for a place in the final.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left heartbroken after Carlos Gu broke down in tears after his Argentine tango with Angela Scanlon.
Carlos, 30, and Angela, 39, performed a beautiful Argentine tango to Back To Black by Amy Winehouse. This left the judges seriously impressed and the duo went on and scored an incredible 38.
Carlos Gu broke down in tears
However, it was just after their performance when Carlos spoke to host Claudia Winkleman that he broke down in tears. The professional dancer said: “I’m so proud of her! I’m so happy the judges gave the comment to her like that. She’s been down actually quite a few weeks and that, I’m just really happy” to which Angela wiped his tears away.

Soon after receiving their scores, Claudia, 51 told him she didn’t want to see him in tears, however, Carlos admitted: “I’m not, I’m tears of happiness!” Taking to Twitter many fans have reacted to Carlos breaking down in tears, as one fan wrote: “Carlos crying made me sob btw #strictly!”
Another commented: “I love Carlos so much. He’s so wholesome. #Strictly!” A third added: “Carlos crying because it’s been a hard few weeks and he’s so happy that Angela has finally got the praise she deserves my sweet boy, #strictly.”
Fans react
“I understand Carlos getting emotional, they’ve been undermarking Angela for weeks!” A fifth said: “Oh bless Carlos he’s so sweet #strictly.”
“Awwwww Carlos’s crying got to me. He deserves all the hugs #Strictly,” agreed another. “Carlos is in tears because Angela is finally getting the credit she deserves. 10 worthy!!! #Strictly!” added one more viewer.

She said: “You don’t have to agree with me. I don’t have to agree with the panel. They don’t have to agree with me. That’s okay. But we can still talk to each other in a human-like fashion.”
It’s finally Blackpool weekend for this year’s Strictly stars – but while the stars may have been itching for the judges to reach for their 10 paddles, any celebrations may have been a little hasty…
That’s because every year the stars of the show that make it to Blackpool run the risk of falling foul of a secret Strictly curse. And throughout the show’s 20-year history, only two couples have been able to survive it.
What is the curse you say? Well, only two couples who topped the leaderboard during Blackpool weekend have actually won the Glitterball trophy.

There’s a new Strictly Blackpool curse in town – but some have escaped it
The first celebrity to break the curse was Jill Halfpenny in 2004. She topped the leaderboard in Blackpool, when the season finale was held in the iconic Tower Ballroom, and also won the Glitterball trophy. The only other person was Kelvin Fletcher 15 years later in 2019.
He danced at Blackpool with Oti Mabuse, topping the leaderboard, and later lifted that season’s trophy with her.
Last weekend, Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin found themselves at the top of the leaderboard. Right behind them were Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola. Both couples have been killing the competition each week and are considered front runners.
After predictions that Layton would receive his first score of 40 this weekend, William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps revealed how this could impact their fate.
“The captivating allure of Blackpool comes with a historical twist. Despite the excitement surrounding Layton’s potential leaderboard-topping performance, it’s essential to note that only two out of the 19 top scorers in the Blackpool specials have gone on to claim the ultimate victory in the series,” he said.
“While Layton may shine bright on the Blackpool stage on Saturday, the history of the show reminds us that this accolade doesn’t always pave the way to lifting the coveted Glitterball trophy. The ‘Blackpool Curse’ lingers as an unwanted dance partner for Layton as the business end of the show approaches,” Lee continued.

Could Ellie and Vito take home the Glitterball trophy?
Currently, Ellie and Vito are the bookies favourite to win. However, last year, Fleur East was paired with Vito and topped the leaderboard during Blackpool weekend. And, spoiler alert, they didn’t win.
Perhaps it’s best if Craig keeps his 10 paddle to himself in future…
The Strictly results are in and fans are less than impressed after the judges voted to kick out Krishnan Guru-Murthy just a week before Blackpool.
Last night (November 11), the remaining couples took to the ballroom floor in the hope of impressing the judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.
However, it was bad news for Krishnan and Angela Rippon as they were given the red light treatment, landing them in the dance-off.
Both couples performed their routines again, Krishnan and his dance partner Lauren Oakley performed their samba to Bamboléo by Gipsy Kings. Then Angela Rippon and her dance partner Kai Widdrington performed their paso doble to Hung Up by Madonna.
After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts…

Judges pass verdict in the dreaded Strictly dance-off
Craig chose to save Angela and Kai.
Craig said: “Well Krishnan you really upped your game in that dance-off, it was magnificent. Angela you nearly lost your supporting leg darling in the kick but you saved it, miraculously. But the couple that I would like to save and go through to Blackpool is Angela and Kai.”
Motsi also chose to save Angela and Kai: “To be honest I’ve never been so undecided in my decision, I’ve been going back and forth, back and forth, in the end I’ve decided for fundamentals and technical level so I will be saving Angela and Kai.”
Anton voted to save Angela and Kai, too: “Well also I thought both couples danced very well – it was a super dance-off, if there is such a thing. But just for the cleaner technique really, and the more recognisable fundamentals, I’m going to save Angela and Kai.”
Shirley, however, disagreed with her fellow judges and said she would have decided to save Krishnan and Lauren.
“Well I picked the person that I felt was more grounded on their feet without any technical errors and I would have saved Krishnan and Lauren.”
Strictly results: Krishnan’s exit speech
When asked by host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Krishnan said: “Look this has been the most incredible experience. I said it has been life-changing and it genuinely has. I am incredibly grateful to the entire production team, judges, my incredible Strictly family up there.
“It’s right I am going out this week and I have got to get back to life. The thing that has made Strictly really special is Lauren. She is most incredible teacher, partner, friend. She is the real Strictly star and I am so delighted I am the first partnership you have had. Lauren is going to go a long way and I am very proud of her.”

Fans react
Viewers weren’t best pleased with the Strictly results, though.
One commented: “Shame as Krishnan was so well liked and embodied everything that Strictly is about. I would much prefer to see him at Blackpool than Angela R.” Another agreed and posted: “I knew that would happen. I don’t like shouting fix but FIX for Angela and Blackpool.” A third commented: “She could’ve been up against Ellie and still get saved for Blackpool. She was terrible again this week. Hopefully next week she’s out!”
Another concluded: “I’m sick to death of Angela R, mainly because of the fawning from the judges. Yes, she’s great for 79 blah blah but she’s had a really easy ride through the competition so far, over marked, and been saved when she shouldn’t have been. Krishnan was the real deal, sad to see him go.”
With the race on for the all-important Blackpool week, many viewers wondered whether the veteran broadcaster was receiving preferential treatment so she may make it to Blackpool with the others.
Performing the paso doble to Hung Up by Madonna with partner Kai Widdrington, Angela, 79 impressed the judges – in spite of a minor slip-up during the routine.

‘This pasa doble is going to Blackpool,’ gush Strictly judges of Angela Rippon
As the judges gave their thoughts, it was clear that they had been impressed by Angela and Kai’s performance.
“This is a paso doble and this paso doble is going to Blackpool, ladies and gentlemen,” gushed judge Motsi Mabuse.
Lead judge Shirley Ballas highlighted the “slip” in Angela’s routine, but then reassured her that “it didn’t matter”.
“You had a little slip over there but it doesn’t matter you know why? Because you collected your core, I saw it in your face; you pulled it up and thought I’m not giving into this move and you didn’t,” enthused Shirley.
Angela and Kai scored an impressive 32 points for their routine, with eight points from each of the judges, in spite of Shirley’s earlier comments.
The high scores did little to quash rumours that Angela is being over-scored by the judges – who fans think want to see her reach Blackpool at any cost.

Strictly fans claim ‘fix’ following judges’ scoring
As the points were revealed, Strictly fans shared their fury on Twitter (now X). Some suggested that the judges had a vested interest in keeping Angela in the competition. Many highlighted Shirley’s oversight and Motsi’s comment about Blackpool as being particularly telling.
“Alright, I’m going to say it. I think they’re over marking/saving Angela Rippon because the production team have plans for her to do a big nostalgia piece about Come Dancing in the Blackpool show,” wrote one fan.
“Just bringing this back after last night where Shirley said: ‘You slipped up but it doesn’t matter’ to Angela. Despite telling other people in previous weeks that she can’t ignore/overlook mistakes,” said another. This was in reference to last week’s show, in which judges overlooked another mistake.
“Did Shirley actually say ‘you slipped up but it doesn’t matter’ to Angela? Yet they sent home Adam [Thomas] for a mistake?” asked a third.
“BLATANT FIX! If ANYONE ELSE slipped they would’ve been wrecked and given fives! Angela’s had NO fast dances and the leg extension can [bleep] OFF now!” another wrote.
With the judges already under fire for their scoring this week, this marks another scandal in the eyes of Strictly fans. But do you think Angela is being unfairly favoured?
Last week, a BBC source told ED!: “All of the judges are hugely experienced individuals who judge on dance and dance alone in the main show and in the dance-offs. Any conspiracy theories suggesting otherwise are simply untrue.”
The Strictly results show is on tonight (November 12) at 7.20pm on BBC One.
