As Strictly Come Dancing enters the eighth week of the competition, things are beginning to heat up on the ballroom. Eight celebrities remain, battling it out for first place.

In tonight’s episode (Saturday, November 11) the remaining celebrities are: Ellie Leach, Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman, Layton Williams, Angela Scanlon, Angela Rippon, Annabel Croft and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

As the competition has progressed, Strictly viewers have taken note of which celebs have made the most progress since their debut. Join ED! as we compare and contrast the biggest transformations since week one.

Nigel Harman back-steps out of the lead as viewers worry about reverse transformation

EastEnders star Nigel Harman emerged as dark horse, quickly becoming one of the favourites to win the competition. His Pasa Doble to Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit impressed the judges, scoring a mighty 32 points.

However, as the weeks have gone on, Nigel appears to have stagnated, with his chances in the competition apparently diminishing.

“Nigel was crowned the winner on week 1 and since that week he has just gone downhill he needs to leave now, he is not improving like the others and clearly peaked in week 1! Byeeee!” exclaimed one viewer on Twitter after his dance three weeks ago.

“I feel like Nigel is not living up to his initial promise. His side of the Tango was stiff and awkward: felt Katya was distracting us with her amazing performance to cover this up. He needs to up his game,” said another, following last week’s dance.

Indeed, Nigel’s chances have now regressed, with the former EastEnders star falling behind Ellie Leach as predicted winner.

Strictly smiler Krishnan Guru-Murthy impresses with ‘so much improvement’

Strictly viewers have continued to praise Krishnan for his continued improvement since week one. Although the Channel 4 newsreader is currently bottom in the bookies’ odds to win, his hard work and marked improvement have been noted.

“Krishnan what a transformation from your first dance, if the competition was based on improving then you would win it by a mile, who knew you could groove it out to Paul Simon. Brilliant,” wrote one viewer.

“There was a mistake half way through I seen but even the best dancers make mistakes at times. Can see so much improvement from Krishnan from week 1,” another commented.

“Krishnan’s best dance to date by a mile. It’s lovely to see someone who really can’t dance give it such a solid effort. Complete transformation, congrats Krishnan!” said a third viewer, after last week’s dance.

Giovanni Pernice announces dance floor return at Dancing With The Stars weekend

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice is lacing up his dancing shoes as he prepares to make a ballroom comeback.

Giovanni was forced to take an early exit from the BBC dance series that made him famous this year after celebrity partner Amanda Abbington decided to quit the show.

However, bouncing back, Gio has shared some “fantastic” news – and it’s sure to delight fans of the Italian hunk.

Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice heads for Dancing With The Stars

Giovanni has revealed that fans will have the chance to meet him and learn some of his famous moves as he takes part in a Dancing With The Stars weekend next year.

Now, before you panic, he hasn’t decided to swap Blighty for the States and a stint on the TV show. Instead, he is heading to the Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire for the event.

It will offer fans of the show a chance to get up close and personal with a handful of Strictly stars as they are taught to dance.

“Thrilled to share some fantastic news with you all,” Giovanni said. “Guess where you can catch me in March 2024? I’ll be setting the dance floor on fire at the incredible Donahey’s Dancing With The Stars Weekend at Alton Towers Resort! SHH.”

He added: “It’s going to be a weekend filled with dance, laughter, and unforgettable memories. So, mark your calendars, set your alarms, and get ready to dance the night away with me.”

Giovanni then said: “It’s going to be a weekend you won’t want to miss! For all the details and to book your tickets, head over to the @donaheys website (link in bio) and secure your spot for what promises to be an EPIC weekend of dancing!”

If Gio isn’t your pro dancer of choice, there are a handful of others also attending.

The Italian dancer will be joined by the likes of Jowita Przystal, Nikita Kuzmin, Lauren Oakley, Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova.

‘My dream come true is finally here!’

Giovanni has been keeping himself busy now he’s out of Strictly 2023, turning his focus to his career away from dancing. He recently shared that he was “thrilled” to announce he’s releasing his own fragrance for men and women.

Sharing the “fantastic news” along with a promo video, he said: “My dream come true is finally here! VITA is my new fragrance for men and women. An intoxicating scent that captures the sensuality, vitality and energy of Sicily.”

Giovanni added that he’s been passionate about fragrance and the way it “captivates emotions” as he explained: “I have long been passionate about fragrance. And the way a scent can captivate our emotions and transport us to another place. VITA is the embodiment of my passions, a personal and complex fragrance. It slowly seduces as it unfolds on the skin.”

This comes after Amanda Abbington confirmed she couldn’t continue on the show due to “personal reasons”.

She said: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue.”

Has Strictly 2023 star Amanda Abbington accidentally revealed that Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola are dating? They certainly have chemistry on the dance floor, but has it extended further than that?

As the weeks have continued, the pair have become frontrunners for this year’s Strictly Glitterball Trophy. On Saturday (November 4), they received a score of 39 after performing an American smooth to Robbie Williams’ Ain’t That A Kick In The Head.

They received a 10 from judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, while Craig Revel Horwood gave them a nine.

Following a successful weekend, Ellie took to Instagram on Sunday night (October 5) to share some thoughts.

Attaching a snapshot of herself and Vito on the dancefloor, the former Corrie actor wrote: “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

She continued: “What a magical night, we are so grateful for all of your support and we’re soooo happy to be through to another week on that Strictly dancefloor.”

‘You are the most beautiful couple’

Racking up more than 35,000 likes, many of Ellie’s followers took to the comments section to congratulate the pair for making it to another week. However, former contestant Amanda might have let slip that Ellie and Vito are dating.

She wrote: “Stunning. So proud of the both of you. You are the most beautiful couple!” with lots of red heart emoji.

While Ellie didn’t interact with the comment, Vito, on the other hand, did give it a like.

So does that mean they are together, or are they just a ‘couple’ paired together as dancer partners? ED! has gone to reps for comment.

Strictly fans’ concern over Adam Thomas’ appearance: ‘He didn’t look well’

Strictly Come Dancing fans expressed concern over Adam Thomas’ appearance last night (Saturday, November 4), after he appeared to not “look well.”

Adam, 35, made it through to week 7 after battling it out after facing a nerve-wracking dance-off last weekend, which saw Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima being sent home.

Last night, the actor and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk performed an elegant rumba to Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott. The duo got a score of 27 from the judges.

Motsi Mabuse even said he did “really well” as a leading man and felt Luba looked great. However, she noted some of his movements needed more refinement.

Adam was then placed at the bottom of the leaderboard alongside Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon and her dance partner Carlos Gu. But fans noticed something else about Adam’s appearance.

Fans suspected Adam was not well

Taking to Twitter fans expressed their concern over Adam’s “tired” appearance. One user wrote; “I think Strictly may have broken Adam #Strictly.” @autismgrowingup asked: “Is Adam sick? #strictly.” @roscoeleebarnes wrote: “Adam looks knackered tonight #Strictly.”

“Does Adam look like he is about to cry or is it just me? #Strictly,” another questioned as a third wrote: “Why does Adam look suddenly unwell? #Strictly.”

Others noted Adam’s behaviour when he shared how the dance was “extra emotional” for him as Dancing On My Own was sung at his wedding to his wife Caroline.

In other news, Adam was predicted to exit the show as bookies claimed his time on the show was “on its last legs.”

Craig Revel Horwood set to leave Strictly Come Dancing after 2024 series to ‘enjoy life’?

Could Craig Revel Horwood be thinking about exiting Strictly Come Dancing after next year’s series?

Well, earlier this year, the panel’s very own Mr Nasty said in an interview that he wanted to “hang up his shoes and enjoy life” when he turns 60.

Craig turns 60 on January 4 2025 – and that would mean, if he sticks to his word, the next series in 2024 would be his last.

Craig Revel Horwood to leave Strictly next year?

Strictly star Craig made the comments earlier this year in an interview with Best magazine.

Craig, who is currently 58, said he does have plans to leave the show, hanging up his shoes to “enjoy life”. “I’m working hard while I can, especially as I love what I do. It keeps me on my toes, darlings!” he said of the BBC dance show.

The star then added: “I’m now the same age as the late, great Len Goodman was when he first started – that’s scary, isn’t it?!”

And, while Craig is yet to officially announce any departure from the show, a handful of stars are said to be lining up for his seat on the judging panel.

Who could take over from Craig?

Ocar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo, who previously covered for Craig in 2021, is one name in the frame. Ex-pro Joanne Clifton said she thinks Giovanni Pernice will be a good fit. Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton have also been rumoured as Craig replacements.

One former pro “firmly” putting his hand up should a vacancy become available is Brendan Cole.

He told the Express: “Obviously, I would pop my hand firmly in the air to replace Craig. But I don’t think that will be on the cards any time soon and I’m not vying for his job.

“The show needs spice, you can’t have it nice all the time. Craig gives that spice. It’d be a shame for him to leave the show because he is such a presence within it. I don’t think he’s replaceable. If anyone were to replace him, then they would need to have Craig’s humility but that little bit of spice that keeps everybody a little bit on edge.”

Strictly star ‘can’t believe it’s over’ as they’re eliminated following ‘shock’ dance-off

The Strictly results are in and it’s bad news for Zara McDermott and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima.

Zara and Graz became the fifth couple to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing as they faced Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk in the dreaded dance-off tonight (October 29).

Both couples performed their routines again. Adam and Luba performed their American Smooth to Magic Moments by Perry Como. Then Zara and her Graziano performed their Charleston to Jeepers Creepers by Al Donahue and his Orchestra in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

Strictly results: The judges’ verdict

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Adam and Luba. Craig said: “For me one couple did remarkably well and nailed that routine. That couple is Adam and Luba.”

Motsi Mabuse chose to save Adam and Luba and said: “Well I feel there was definitely a fighting spirit from both couples, I think both couples improved remarkably, they were both stunning, I will save Adam and Luba.”

Anton Du Beke chose to save Adam and Luba. He said: “Well it’s not much of a consolation now – but both couples danced very well and both couples put their best foot forward. But for me it was couple that was the best quality – and that couple is Adam and Luba.”

With three votes to Adam and Luba it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition regardless, however, head judge Shirley Ballas also said she would have decided to save Adam and Luba. Shirley said: “I agreed I would have saved Adam and Luba.”

Zara reacts

When asked by Tess Daly about her time on the show, Zara said: “I have had the time of my life. Just to be here is incredible. Thank you to the judges and my amazing partner obviously. My fellow contestants are just incredible. It has been the most amazing experience. I can’t believe it’s over but I am going to be here in spirit every week supporting them.”

Strictly fans had previously shared their shock at Adam landing in the bottom two alongside Zara, given his position on the leaderboard going into the public vote. “Didn’t expect Adam to be there,” said one reacting to the Strictly results spoiler on social media. “Did not expect Adam to be in the bottom! That’s shocked me,” said another.

The remaining nine couples will take to the dancefloor next when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday November 4 at 7.05pm.

Strictly issues statement on Adam Thomas amid illness after he was forced to miss It Takes Two appearance: ‘There are contingencies in place’

Strictly bosses have revealed that they hope Adam Thomas can still perform on tonight’s show following his recent illness. The former Emmerdale star was forced to pull out of It Takes Two last night after being taken ill.

He was expected to appear on the spin-off show last night (October 27) but was a no-show. Instead, partner and pro dancer Luba Mushtuk made a solo appearance, explaining the situation to host Fleur East.

Adam fell ill last week, and was reportedly banned from attending rehearsals, for the well-being of the Strictly crew. In spite of his feeling under the weather, he was still able to perform in last week’s show.

But will Adam be fit to perform tonight (Saturday, October 28)?

Luba Mushtuk appears solo as Adam is taken ill

Fleur was supposed to interview Adam and Luba on last night’s It Takes Two. However, Adam’s sickness forced him to take a rain check.

“Unfortunately, Adam’s feeling a bit under the weather. But please welcome the lovely Luba!” Fleur said as she introduced Luba to the stage.

“It’s so strange to be here by myself!” Luba laughed.

“He is resting now, he just hasn’t felt very well, but he is resting and getting ready for tomorrow night so everything will be fine!” Luba said.

Will Adam Thomas perform on Strictly tonight?

Following Luba‘s It Takes Two appearance, the BBC issued a statement on Adam’s Strictly chances.

“We are hopeful Adam will be better and able to perform this weekend. There are contingencies in place should he not be able to. The health and wellbeing of the Strictly cast and crew is production’s absolute priority,” the statement read.

This fresh blow comes as bookies William Hill predicted that Adam could be eliminated from the competition this weekend. He is at 9/2 to be eliminated, behind Zara McDermott.

“It might not be third time lucky for the Love Island and Made In Chelsea star this week though, and we make her odds-on at 1/2 to depart the show on Sunday, with Adam Thomas (9/2) and Annabel Croft (11/2) next in line,” the bookies’ spokesperson said.

Karen Hauer set to quit Strictly? Eagle-eyed fans have spotted ‘clues’

Eagle-eyed fans of Strictly Come Dancing believe professional dancer Karen Hauer might be the next to wave goodbye to the show.

Part of the Strictly team since 2012, the 41-year-old has been partnered up with a fair share of stars. From singers Nicky Byrne and Will Young to comedian Chris Ramsey, Karen has certainly made a splash on Strictly.

This year, she was teamed up with comedian Eddie Kadi. Despite a successful run, they found themselves in the dance-off last weekend (October 22). As a result, they were voted off by the panel.

Fans believe Karen’s ‘attitude’ has ‘been off’ this series

Following her elimination, huge fans of the show can’t help but believe that Karen won’t be returning next year. A lot of this speculation is down to her body language.

“I could see Karen and Gorka leaving. Their attitude this season has been off,” one Reddit user wrote.

“I really think it’s time for Karen to go. Her choreo is just not up to the same standard as some of the others and she seems like she’s not enjoying it as much any more,” another person shared.

“I get the sense Karen isn’t the most engaged but that could be do to with her personal life (she’s only human) or just the fact she’s been around for a while. You can get jaded after a long time in the same job, no matter how good the gig might be,” a third remarked.

“I feel like Karen might be getting a bit tired of the show, much to my dislike as I am a fan,” a fourth commented.

Karen is the show’s longest-serving professional, having joined in 2012.

What has Karen said since being eliminated?

On the night she and Edi were eliminated from the competition, Karen kept it positive by praising Edi’s hard work.

Referring to him as her “best friend”, Karen said: “No one got to see “the real Eddie behind the scenes.”

She continued: “The man that works hard day in day out. Even on those rainy days that you didn’t feel like smiling or telling a joke, you still pulled through and stayed true to yourself.

“Thank you for your friendship and your unconditional attention and support.”

The rumours of her departure comes amid reports of turmoil in her private life.

It’s been reported that Karen has split from her husband Jordan.

Vito Coppola issues apology to viewers for remarks on It Takes Two: ‘I keep making this mistake’

The latest Strictly news has seen dancer Vito Coppola make an apology to viewers after his remarks on last night’s (October 25) It Takes Two.

The 31-year-old star is partnered up with former Coronation Street actor Ellie Leach and has been taking the competition by storm. Last week, the pair performed a Paso Doble and received their highest score to date, 37. They also received their first 10 from judge Motsi Mabuse.

But while making an appearance with Ellie on It Takes Two, viewers couldn’t help but pick up on a certain remark he made.

Strictly news: Vito on ‘fingers on the feet’

During his chat on the It Takes Two sofa with Ellie, Vito referred to toes as “fingers on the feet”. The term stood out so much to a viewer, that they put on their Instagram Story: “Vito just called toes, ‘Fingers on the feet.’ That’s what I’m calling them from now on.”

With English being his second language, the Italian dancer reacted with a sense of humour. He wrote: “Sorryyy I keep doing this mistake. In Italian make sense but in English… [shy monkey face emoji]. I will learn… soon or later.”

Vito and Ellie receive a special message

This weekend (October 28), Vito and Ellie will take on Halloween week by performing a Salsa to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s iconic hit Murder On The Dancefloor.

Sophie previously participated in Strictly with Brendan Cole in 2013 and came fourth.

As a surprise, the British singer shared a video message to Vito and Ellie, wishing them the best. Sophie explained that Murder On The Dancefloor is a special song to her and believes it will bring them a lot of luck this weekend.

Strictly favourite reveals his ‘career in television is done’ as he admits ‘I’ve had a great run and I’ve loved it’

In Strictly news, runner-up John Whaite revealed he’s quit the TV industry after Steph’s Packed Lunch has been axed.

The telly star, 34, reacted to the “deeply sad news” that the show will be taken off air. He said that this was the real reason he was absent from the show.

This news comes after he admitted he “fell” for his Strictly Come Dancing pro partner Johannes Radebe while filming the show in 2021.

John revealed he planned to “leave TV this year”

The former Great British Bake Off contestant said the decision to pull out from the show made “no difference” to him. Since he plans to focus on his “business and creativity”.

John explained how he felt about leaving television. Taking to his Instagram, he said: “This is the truth, I was going to leave TV this year anyway. That’s why I’ve been off Packed Lunch for a couple of weeks just to get my head in the gear and I just came to the conclusion that I think my career in television is now done. I’ve had a great run and loved it.”

John then went on and paid tribute to the show. He wrote: “Breaking my little Insta-pause to post about this. I’m sure you’ve read the deeply sad news that Steph’s Packed Lunch will not be returning after December.”

He continued: “I want to shout, as loud as possible, about how brilliant the team have been. The eclectic mix of folk from a hodgepodge of backgrounds and generations worked tirelessly to try to keep the integrity of a 100-year-old industry alive and bring lunchtime entertainment and company to many a household. What they created was a show that was as diverse as it was welcoming, and I hope each and every one of them continues to thrive wherever the wind next takes them because they deserve nothing but success.

He concluded his post and thanked the food team: “Courtney, Sarah and the talented home economists – have been a lifeline to me on so many occasions, and it’s been an honour to work with them (and the rest of the production and editorial teams) for the past 3 years.”

Dianne Buswell reveals truth behind upset on last week’s Strictly ‘I got some news about my dad’s health’

Star of Strictly Come Dancing Dianne Buswell has opened up to fans about why she was upset during last week’s show (October 14).

The professional dancer, who is teamed up with EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, appeared in an emotional state, leaving fans concerned.

In her latest YouTube vlog, the 34-year-old has come clean about the situation.

Dianne received concerning news about her dad

In a Q&A with her YouTube subscribers, Dianne revealed that she had received a lot of questions about how she was feeling after last weekend.

In her response, she detailed that her dad, Mark, is unwell and has impacted her.

“I thought I would be very upfront and honest with you all. Last week, I got some news about my dad’s health and I won’t go into detail, but obviously, that affected me,” Dianne said.

“Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that,” she continued.

Initially, Dianne’s family had plans to visit the UK for Christmas and watch her perform on Strictly. However, that won’t be the case now. Instead, she will return to her native Australia after the show.

“There is a little road ahead for my dad but I believe 10 percent he is going to be fine and we are all going to get through it together,” Dianne added.

“My dad is the sweetest, kindest man you will ever meet and the one thing he really wants is for me to keep going and to keep dancing my little heart out and doing what I love because that makes him the absolute proudest.”

BBC breaks silence on claims Strictly star Giovanni Pernice is ‘breaking guidelines’ with new project

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has NOT broken any rules with a new project, the BBC has confirmed.

The dance pro, 33, is reportedly launching his own cosmetics brand called GP Vita.

According to MailOnline, Italian hunk Gio set the company up in June – and shared on social media yesterday (Thursday October 19) that “a dream project is finally launching next week”.

However, while the tabloid report alleges some Beeb stars may not have complied with regulations concerning non-BBC interests previously, a BBC spokesperson told ED! that Giovanni is “following guidelines”.

Insiders reportedly told MailOnline: “Giovanni’s legal team has ensured there is no danger of him breaking any rules.

“Giovanni is aware his profile is in a good place following the last few years on Strictly, so he feels why not pounce on that and make some money?”

Approached for comment on MailOnline’s story, a representative for Strictly said: “For the avoidance of any doubt, Giovanni has not breached any BBC rules in launching his brand, and is following guidelines.”

A moody black and white snap of Gio and model Amanda Faical looking as if they are about to smooch was shared by the dance fave on Instagram.

He teased in the post’s caption: “I’m super excited to be unveiling… well, you will have to wait until next Tuesday 24 October to find out at gpvita.com!”

Gio’s fans, meanwhile, were super excited to see him posing in such a sultry manner.

“On a scale of one to ten how much would you like to be that woman?” one user sighed in the comments section.

Another devoted fan pondered: “I wonder if Giovanni smiles knowing that every woman and some men will have let out a sigh ever so slightly when they saw that photo?”
