Kate Middleton and Mary-Kate Olsen Agree: This Boot Trend Is Made for Skinnies

    [ad_1]

Skinny jeans will never go “out,” and that’s a fact. Just take a look at any one of the handful of celebrities who seem to cling to the perennial denim staple. Season after season, we turn to these style stars to inform us of the freshest ways to style our skinnies, and according to them, all signs point to one boot trend in particular—riding boots—that just so happen to pair flawlessly with classic skinny jeans.

Kate Middleton has long been a fan of these flat, knee-high boots, and there are plenty of her outfits to get inspired by. They also happen to be approved by Mary-Kate Olsen. (When MK and Ashley wear something cool, you know we’re quick to follow suit.) We spotted riding boots all over the F/W 22 runways from a whole host of brands, such as Brandon Maxwell, Celine, and Tory Burch, so if you’re looking to get in on the trend, there’s certainly no lack of options. Keep scrolling to see how Middleton and Olsen wear the equestrian trend, to see how they’re styled on Instagram, and to shop the best riding boots for yourself.

I Know It Hurts, But These 6 Sandals Have Got to Go—6 I’m Investing in Instead

    [ad_1]

Even though the weather outside might not indicate the impending arrival of spring (at least not where I’m located in New York City), warmer temperatures are, indeed, on the horizon. This, to me, means one thing: It’s time to start thinking about ways to transition my winter wardrobe into a spring one without my closet finally taking over the last few square feet left in my SoHo apartment. It’s not an easy job, but it’s one I look forward to every year. And the first sartorial genre on my agenda is sandals—also known as the footwear staple I’ll wear most in the months ahead.

Last season, the sandal space was dominated by pillow-like thongs, pastel slides, and every fashion girl’s favorite style, fisherman sandals. But like with most other trends of late, these are already starting to feel stale after seeing them on everyone everywhere—from Positano, Italy to my own backyard (aka the corner seat at Fanelli Cafe, where you can stylish people watch as shoppers exit Prada).

To replace them in my wardrobe, I’ve come up with a list of worthwhile replacements that are fresh for 2023. Scroll down to find out which sandal styles I’ll prioritize and which I won’t next season.

  • What Not to Wear With Cowboy Boots

What Not to Wear With Cowboy Boots

    [ad_1]

Cowboy boots are a thing yet again. Street style, Instagram, and the new shoe arrivals on every cool shopping site are proof positive of this. That said, the Western boots that fashion girls are buying this season are decidedly more polished than the rugged styles of the past, and we’ve noticed that there are certain things they’re simply not wearing with their chic new boots. Alternatively, we’re also here to talk about what to wear with cowboy boots.

The tricky thing about cowboy boots is that they’re more specific than, say, Chelsea boots. If you wear them with pieces that conflict with their aesthetic, it may look a little confusing. If you wear them with other boldly Western pieces, it can look like Halloween came early.

Fashion people have been honing their cowboy-boot-styling skills in recent weeks, and we’ve been keeping track. Scroll on to find out which pieces stylish women have been keeping far away from their cowboy boots and which pieces they’re wearing with them. Oh, you can shop the coolest styles on the market along the way.

6 Controversial Shoe Trends Fashion People Will Be Wearing in 2023

    [ad_1]

We’re no strangers to controversial shoe trends here at Who What Wear. The start of every season brings a new rotation of somewhat questionable footwear into our closet— especially when transitioning from the winter to the spring. Rising temperatures mean more chances to show off our post-snow pedicures with a chic pair of sandals, or alternatively, a new pair of shoes meant for stomping around the city now that blue skies are no longer a rarity.

While spring trends and must-have jackets are being shuffled back into our closets after liberation, most spring 2023 shoe trends are new to us—especially the ones that have caused a stir on the internet in the past. Now that we know nostalgia reigns supreme in the trend cycle, it’s no surprise to find the fashion crowd digging up old silhouettes from their donate piles only to style them in a newer way that feels fresh. (Jelly sandals, we’re looking at you.)

Below are all of the controversial shoe trends fashion people can’t seem to put down as we enter the warmer months. If you’re looking to get ahead of the trends before they sell out, scroll on through.

  • Rita Ora and Courtney Love Wore Highly Controversial Wedge Boots in Paris

Rita Ora and Courtney Love Wore Highly Controversial Wedge Boots in Paris

    [ad_1]

The couture runways aren’t the only places we’re seeing avant-garde fashion. Celebrity attendees such as Anne Hathaway and Apple Martin have spared no expense when it comes to their fashion week outfits, and the Fendi Haute Couture show was no exception. Both Rita Ora and Courtney Love wore Fendi’s wedge boots and pulled them off with ease.

You might remember that wedge boots and sneakers peaked in the early 2000s and 2010s, but we haven’t seen a lot of the polarizing trend recently. Given Fendi’s power to single-handedly shape the course of the fashion industry, I have a feeling these shoes will launch a wedge-boot trend in no time. Scroll down to see the photos.

  • Anne Hathaway Wore the Pretty Shoe Trend Everyone Will Wear With Jeans This Year

Anne Hathaway Wore the Pretty Shoe Trend Everyone Will Wear With Jeans This Year

    [ad_1]

New(-ish) fashion icon Anne Hathaway is in Paris for Couture Fashion Week, and she’s been keeping us on our toes with one incredible look after another (see here and here). One of her most casual looks of the week thus far featured a pretty (and somewhat flashy shoe trend): metallic shoes. Hathaway paired silver Western boots with wide-leg jeans and a peacoat, with the boots providing just the fashiony jolt the look needed during Couture Fashion Week.

Metallic shoes have been popping up more and more on the market and in my Instagram feed, and other chic celebrities (like Katie Holmes) have also worn the trend as of late. Not only that, but they were also worn by half of all of the models that walked in Chanel’s couture show this week (a gold cap-toe sock boot, to be exact). I happen to think that metallic shoes are the perfect match for jeans and I highly recommend investing in a pair if you’re a regular denim wearer (or not—they kind of go with everything).

Read on to see the aforementioned metallic boots in action and shop some of the internet’s chicest pairs.

I Walked For Miles In 15 New Pairs of Shoes—These 7 Were The Most Comfortable

    [ad_1]

Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good pair of shoes. I am at a point where I have so many that they line the walls of my apartment. While I’m on the hunt for a new storage solution to keep tabs on my addiction, of course, I’m still shoe shopping.

As a New Yorker, there’s nothing more important to me in a new pair of shoes than comfort. I love wearing heels but I also love walking home so you bet I’m picky when it comes to which style I’ll buy. I recently updated my shoe collection with a few new styles to determine what might be the most comfortable to wear this winter. I’m at a point where I know what to look for when buying shoes so it was surprisingly difficult to narrow this down, but behold the 7 styles that made the cut.

  • 30 Ways Everyone’s Styling Flats With Dresses in 2023

30 Ways Everyone’s Styling Flats With Dresses in 2023

    [ad_1]

When Victoria Beckham said, “I can’t concentrate in flats,” I felt that in my soul. Before it was even deemed “apropos,” I tried to walk in heels at a very young age. Like Beckham, I’ve always been an avid collector of heels and have rarely worn flats. But things have changed over the past few years, and I’ve slowly come around to the idea of pushing aside my heels occasionally for a pair of flats. In part, that shift is due to the rise of cool shoe trends (e.g., ballet flats and cowboy boots) that have made embracing this style more tantalizing. But it’s also because I’ve noticed a styling trend among the fashion set that can’t be ignored: flats worn with dresses.

As someone who loves a good dress just as much as heels, I was dubious when my feed began to be flooded with the styling trend. However, after further research, I’ve realized that styling flats with dresses is the move in 2023. And to prove that point, I’ve found 30 outfit ideas that show how to wear flats with a dress. Plus, I’ve identified the best shoe styles to wear with dresses. Whether you’re a die-hard flats fan or need to give your feet a break, these styling pairings will come in handy all year.

The Shoes Fashion People Will Wear With the Anti-Skinny-Jeans Trend This Year

    [ad_1]

While skinny jeans will always be around (they basically fall into the “classic” category), relaxed jeans have been the denim cut du jour among the fashion crowd for the last few seasons. And yes, the baggy-jeans trend will hold strong in 2023 as well. There are a smattering of items that pair flawlessly with anti-skinny jeans, but I thought I’d highlight the specific shoe silhouettes style setters will probably gravitate toward the most this year.

Below, you’ll uncover the jeans-and-footwear combos that are easy and effortlessly chic. As a preview, you’ll uncover the flats that feel quite elevated with the ever-so-popular puddle jeans.

  • I Describe My Style as Fun Yet Wearable—These Shoe Trends Hit It for Me

I Describe My Style as Fun Yet Wearable—These Shoe Trends Hit It for Me

    [ad_1]

They say fairytales can leave a lasting impression on kids. For me, it was Cinderella. Here was this poor girl who hustled away. Her only friends the literal rodents in her house. She finally gets an invite to the hottest soirée in town, gets all dolled up, and then LOSES her incredible heels (borrowed, no less) after only one wear! The emotional hangover must’ve been real, and I was just as relieved as she must’ve been to get them back. (Side note: Does shoe sizing not exist in fairytales?) It proved to me that the right pair of shoes really can change your life. (And a glass shoe? How chic is that?)

Needless to say, I’ve been a shoe gal since. Any time we went away on a family vacation, my dad would grumble and say, “Do you really need that many shoes? We’re only gone for a week,” to which my mom and I would respond, “Exactly!” A lot could happen in a week. What if we got stuck without the right footwear? It felt silly, and we were nothing if not practical.

That practically has evolved since. I still adore a vertiginous heel every now and then, but after a few hard-learned lessons (almost destroying my ankle on some Parisian cobblestone, for one), I’m looking for function alongside fun. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not totally above buying eye-candy shoes; it’s just that they should feel as sweet on my soles—like the ones I’ve listed below.

According to Sneakerheads, These Pairs Are the Only Ones Worth Buying in 2023

    [ad_1]

The sneaker world and the fashion world, though tightly intertwined, involve two very different types of expertise. As a fashion editor, I may know every last detail about the next breakthrough designers coming out of Paris and Milan, the trends making headway on Instagram and TikTok, and the latest arrivals dropping at Zara and Mango, and at the same time be out of the loop on what sneaker models are booming on the secondhand market. So when I tasked myself recently with upping my knowledge in the sneaker world, starting with 2023’s most anticipated trends, I knew I had to call in a real expert.

To find out which pairs I should be buying now for 2023 rather than later (aka, when the prices have skyrocketed so high I can’t possibly obtain them), I called on the merchandising director of sneakers and collectibles at StockX, Drew Haines, who kindly shared everything from macro trends and specific models to watch out for next year to hard-hitting footwear data. Of course, my first thought—after quickly picking up one of each of his predicted styles, that is—was to share the wealth. Below, see which sneakers StockX’s top sneakerhead is betting big on for 2023.

Don’t Kill Your Feet: A Podiatrist Ranks Your At-Home Shoes From Best to Worst

    [ad_1]

Your shoe choice more or less determines how comfortable you’ll remain throughout the day. Regardless of how cozy your clothing selection is, if your pair of flats or sandals pinch ever so slightly, your comfort level will swiftly start to decline. In an effort to avoid such discomfort, we often tap podiatrists to shed insight on those current footwear silhouettes that won’t cause as much pain.

Today, we wanted to zero in on the best (and worst) shoes to wear around the house. We turned to Benjamin Tehrani, DPM, of Kings Point Foot & Ankle in Los Angeles and creator of Nerve Assist for expert tips on the common styles that are okay and those that could cause some harm to your overall foot health. In addition, given that many of us do spend a lot of time walking barefoot around the house, Tehrani shed light on the pros and cons on that front, too.

Without further ado, keep scrolling for a ranking of the best and worst at-home shoes. And if you’re shopping at the moment, you’ll find shoe recommendations that could be of interest as well.

In my experience, everyone in fashion has their thing, be it handbags, outerwear, basics, or most often, shoes, including but not limited to boots, heels, sandals, clogs, and flats. Mine, like so many, revolves solely around footwear. And because of that, I spend a large chunk of my day looking through runway shows, Instagram feeds, magazines, and of course, the market, in order to garner enough information about the state of the footwear market to report on it accurately and with the level of enthusiasm only a true shoe lover can emote.

That brings me to my latest dump of research findings, which center around the shoe trends that will dominate the fashion scene throughout the approaching winter. From engineer boots inspired by Miu Miu’s FW22 offerings to colorful options that are sure to spark joy on even the gloomiest of winter days, the 6 shoe trends ahead are lying in wait for the season to begin and their reigns over our feet to commence. Hailey Bieber Wore the Platform Uggs That Sell Out Every December

    [ad_1]

Hailey Bieber definitely plays favorites when it comes to the brands in her closet. She has a penchant for wearing labels like Saint Laurent, Staud, and Bottega Veneta, but one of her faves is a lot more accessible than the rest: Ugg. She’s previously worn the hugely popular Ugg Fluff Yeah Sandals, which have thousands of five-star reviews on Nordstrom’s website, in case you were wondering. Now, she’s back at it with a new style by Ugg.

Last night, Bieber was photographed in Los Angeles wearing Ugg Neumel Platform Booties ($150), which have a tendency to sell out extremely quickly. The platform boots feature a cool front zipper detail, a trend that Zoë Kravitz is also a fan of. Scroll down to see how Bieber styled the new Uggs, and shop them before they sell out.
