    Press Release

    Dec 30, 2022

In a continuous effort focused on giving back to the community, Passport Technology proudly donates an aggregated £3,919 to the CHIPS Charity. With this donation, Passport has contributed over £30,000 to support the gaming and local communities in the U.K.

Founded in 2001 on behalf of the UK Gaming industry, CHIPS raises funds for the purchase of specialised powered wheelchairs for youngsters with varying disabilities. The CHIPS Charity committee, which is formed from senior members of the Gaming Industry, work for free with no expense deduction so that 100% of every penny raised goes towards providing the quality of life that is the right of every child. So far, CHIPS has helped over 650 children and raised over £3 million.

“On behalf of CHIPS Charity, I would like to thank Passport Technology for their generous donation”, says Linda Lindsay, Co-Founder & Trustee, CHIPS. “We are a small charity, and every penny donated to us goes to provide the powered wheelchairs that some wonderfully deserving youngsters need. These chairs give the children the ability to be independently mobile, sometimes for the first time in their lives.”

“CHIPS is an amazing organisation that truly makes a difference in the lives of children in need”, says Helen Bowditch, VP Business Development, Passport. “The powered wheelchairs provided by CHIPS give children the freedom and independence to explore and participate in activities that they may not have been able to before. We are honoured to be able to support and promote their efforts. Giving back to the community has always been a fundamental value of our company, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to make a difference through our partnership with CHIPS.”

JL Cares, a non-profit in Lynnwood, WA is hoping to make the holidays a bit brighter for a few families this year. Partnering with local appliance store Judd & Black, the non-profit plans to donate and install a new range for one family and will provide groceries for ten additional families in the area. • Man Crushed by Boulder on Hike Returns to Raise Money for Families and Victims of Human Trafficking

Man Crushed by Boulder on Hike Returns to Raise Money for Families and Victims of Human Trafficking

    [ad_1]

A Phoenix Pastor and his daughter raised $1.8 million for families in need and victims of human trafficking, after being crushed by an 8,000-pound boulder.

    Press Release

    Nov 21, 2022

Pastor Luke Barnett and his daughter, Annalee, set out two years ago to hike the world-famous, 800-mile Arizona Trail. The two were hiking in an effort to raise $1 million to help the Short Creek Dream Center support families and individuals in need of housing, provide food resources to families in need and offer refuge to victims of abuse in Colorado City, AZ (the town featured in the Netflix docuseries, Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey). Luke and Annalee were 500 miles into the hike when an 8,000-pound boulder came bombing down toward Annalee. Heroically, Luke pushed his daughter out of the way, saving her, and, in turn, was crushed and dragged by the boulder himself. Narrowly escaping with his life, Luke was airlifted with multiple broken bones, including a broken femur, three broken ribs, and a nearly severed finger, spent nine days in the hospital, and encouraged Annalee to continue the hike without him.

This story broke internationally and allowed the hikers to raise over $1.8 million in support of the Short Creek Dream Center and Short Creek community.

Now, Luke Barnett is back on the Arizona Trail and determined to complete the last 300 miles of the hike. He wants to accomplish the feat that the boulder robbed them of two years ago and, most importantly, continue to raise money and awareness to support the Dream Center’s efforts in the Short Creek community to help survivors of abuse, human trafficking, domestic violence and provide critical resources to families in need.

To learn more about the hike and how it’s supporting victims and families in the community, visit: https://www.shortcreekdreamcenter.org/adventure-your-life-2-0/.

About the Short Creek Dream Center

The Short Creek Dream Center exists to serve the twin towns of Hildale and Colorado City as they continue to grow, heal, and transform. From transitional housing, recovery, community outreach and helping combat the effects of poverty, the Dream Center exists to help find and fill the needs of the Short Creek Community and beyond.

Along with the Phoenix Dream Center, Streetlight USA, and Stop Traffic Walk, the Short Creek Dream Center is part of the largest network of anti-human trafficking agencies in North America. Trafficking comes in many different forms and we want to see anyone suffering from exploitation be set free and have a place to go for support.

Publication Academy Receives Grant to Provide Academic, Technical, & Grant Writing Training for Templeton World Charity Foundation

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    Sep 22, 2022

Publication Academy is excited to have the opportunity to continue providing best-in-class online training programs for a third consecutive year for grantees of the Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc. (TWCF), a private foundation supporting diverse researchers around the world in discovering new knowledge, developing new tools, and launching new innovations that make a lasting impact on human flourishing.

As part of TWCF’s newly launched strategy to support new scientific research on human flourishing and to translate related discoveries into practical tools, Publication Academy will provide grantees with access to three customized curricula developed on its premiere training platform: (1) the TWCF Academic Writing Course, (2) the TWCF Technical Communication Course, and (3) the TWCF Grant Writing & Management Course. These hybrid courses will provide TWCF grantees with 24/7 access to over 90 hours of video-based On Demand programming, group-based live webinar coaching sessions every two weeks, and “Office Hour” sessions for grantees to receive 1-on-1 guidance.

Publication Academy’s courses will accelerate the pace at which discoveries move through the strategic pipeline by empowering TWCF grantees to successfully disseminate their project findings through academic publications (peer-reviewed journal articles, edited book chapters, conference presentations) and technical communications (social media and blog posts, digital newsletters, podcasts, press releases, and more). In addition, the courses will help support re-investment in currently funded projects by training grantees in how to find new external funding opportunities and then to write successful grant proposals.

The custom curricula developed for TWCF over the past two years have resulted in a significant increase in scholarly productivity across professions and cultural backgrounds. An analysis conducted in August 2021 found that participants in the TWCF Academic Writing Course tripled their total peer-reviewed publication output since the course was offered. Individual participants saw an increase of between 50% to over 500% in their rates of publication, with course completers consistently reporting that the programming contributed to achieving their personal goals and enhancing their professional expertise.

According to one grantee, a Professor of Education in El Salvador who completed the TWCF Academic Writing Course in 2021: “Before taking this course, I thought I understood how publication worked. Now having completed my Publication Academy course this year, I realize the gap in knowledge between what I thought I knew before and what actually must be done to get a paper published. The experience of having an instructor to ask advice from, the tips that he gave us, and the blueprints and exemplars that he provided us have really become essential in achieving my academic and professional goals.”

Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities (LATLC) was delighted to lend a helping hand to its partner charities El Nido Family Centers and Play It Forward at “Kids Helping Kids” on Saturday, March 12, 2022. The attorneys from Los Angeles County took time out from their busy schedules to join volunteers at El Nido’s Pacoima FamilySource Center and the Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) program and filled gift bags containing items to inspire active and healthy lifestyles.

Over 200 LATLC duffel bags were filled with P.E. equipment for the families to use at home including balls, jump ropes, and other sporting equipment, as well as hand sanitizer, LATLC stress hearts, and other items to help promote health and well-being in the community. • Remember the Children, Mulberry International Resources and CDF Capital Partner Together for Ukraine Relief

Remember the Children, Mulberry International Resources and CDF Capital Partner Together for Ukraine Relief

    [ad_1]

Remember the Children, Mulberry International Resources and CDF Capital have partnered together to assist in the housing of 600 refugees, feeding of 500 people daily and evacuation of a Christian children’s home out of Mariupol with 30-plus children, staff, and families. While many wonder what other relief efforts can be done to assist the war-torn country of Ukraine, these organizations are actively responding.

Remember the Children (RTC) and Mulberry International Resources (MIR) have been active in Ukraine’s bordering nations and are alongside those who are working directly on the ground. They first got connected two years ago at a CDF Capital Foundation Mentoring Program. Over the past few weeks, they have been in contact daily, helping displaced refugees and mobilizing resources.

Since its inception 26 years ago, RTC has focused on orphan care, church planting, and leadership development in Romania and Tanzania. Since the current Russian invasion began, RTC has become a safe passage for families escaping the war as well.

“We’ve already housed 600 refugees and we’re feeding 400 to 500 people as they cross the border daily,” Andy Baker, Founder and CEO of RTC, said. “Most people are moving through Romania and going west. A lot of them are heading to Italy and Germany.”

Andy’s phone has been ringing nonstop since the attacks on Ukraine started. Partnering organizations have been seeking assistance from RTC, and Andy’s team has worked round the clock, both here in the United States and on the ground in Romania, to ensure Ukrainians get the help that they need.

“I also have three families in Suceava, Romania, that we got to Bucharest. We’re working to get them to the embassy and, hopefully, get them to Idaho in the coming weeks, where families have agreed to take them in as refugees,” Andy said while responding to a text message from a colleague in Ukraine. “And I just sent some funding to another gentleman in Western Ukraine to buy medicine and medical supplies. We find ourselves uniquely positioned to help in this crisis with our long-term service in Romania and with a network of colleagues and friends that encompasses most of the country.”

While RTC actively works to provide safety for those coming from Ukraine, Natasha Reimer and Mulberry International Resources are working closely with individuals and families that are in the direct path of the fighting.

“We were strategically placed. We were placed in the city of Mariupol—which is outside of the frontlines,” Natasha said. “We were already working with that population since 2015, dealing with displaced refugees and helping out planting churches in the buffer zone. We’ve been doing it. In a way, when this whole thing blew over, we didn’t have to set anything up. We were already set up.”

MIR exists to promote eternal transformation by bringing hope and healing to at-risk children and families in Ukraine. Natasha, currently the Executive Director, sees the organization’s mission being lived out every single day as Ukrainians seek safety and help.

Andy and Natasha met at the CDF Capital Foundation Mentoring Program back in 2020. They both learned valuable lessons of strategic planning in their cohort. Natasha and Andy were both highly motivated by the CDF Capital team to get back to their respective organizations to implement new strategies and take their humanitarian work to the next level.

Little did they know the two would find themselves working together years later in such a devastating capacity.

“A couple of days ago, Andy reached out to me and told me they’re receiving people,” Natasha said, recalling their conversation just days after the invasion broke out. “We evacuated a Christian children’s home out of Mariupol—30-plus children, staff, and families.”

Andy was able to arrange temporary lodging for those whom Natasha sent. He networked with a Romanian Baptist church, located at the Ukraine border, where the caravan was able to eat, rest, and refuel before making its way to Remember the Children headquarters for further assistance.

“MIR and RTC connected at the border,” Andy reported. “There are 33 children, 13 women, and 3 men who are safe with us in Romania.”

Natasha also secured a long-term arrangement with a ministry in Germany that the children’s home will eventually make its way toward once the team is ready to receive them.

“Natasha and I have been talking every day. And that’s just one example of how we’ve worked together,” Andy said. “I don’t know how to explain it to you. I’m on the verge of tears just every minute. When I talk with some people out there, they say, ‘We’re doing what we can do, Andy, because it’s what God calls us to do. We live in every moment, wondering if we’re next.’”

“Residents have no access to life-supporting supplies. Almost the entire city has been burned, destroyed and shelled,” Natasha added, describing the dire straits Ukrainians face right now. “There is no food left. People burn wood to cook or to get warm. They boil snow or collect rainwater to drink. Every day the humanitarian corridor is being shelled and evacuation efforts have been unsuccessful.”

Natasha, in addition to her work with MIR, also has intimate ties to the country. Though immigrating to the United States in the late ’90s, Natasha is originally from Crimea and still has close friends and relatives back home.

“My heart is broken for my people and my country, and for the countless victims who have been killed, wounded and displaced,” Natasha lamented. “Now, I grieve for my friend and coworker in Christ, Nikolai, who was killed today with four other Christian men while delivering food to others in shelters and homes. He leaves behind his wife and three children, who still remain in Mariupol.”

Despite the grim circumstances in Ukraine, however, both Andy and Natasha have been encouraged by the outpouring of inquiries by friends, family members, and partnering organizations seeking ways they can help. Since the borders and ports have been blockaded and seized by the Russian military, it is next to impossible to ship in-kind gifts into the country. Sending financial donations is the easiest way to assist during this phase of the war. With leadership teams set up on the ground, withdrawing funds at an ATM or wiring money is fast and efficient, allowing both MIR and RTC to quickly purchase needed goods locally.

“A food packet—like basic grains, oil, pasta—for a family of four or five, about $15 would be enough for them to survive a week,” Natasha said, describing how far donations can stretch. “And $100 would provide one family basic needs for a month.”

“Something as little as $25 a week goes a long way,” Andy added. “Money is being used to help move refugees into Romania and get them into housing. We’re also feeding three meals a day to our refugees. Financial assistance is the easiest way to help.”

For Andy, CDF Capital has been a tremendous help, not only during these intense few weeks, but CDF Capital has also been of great help in continually pouring wisdom into Remember the Children. The relationship between Remember the Children and CDF Capital has strengthened over the years and will continue to do work for the good of humanity.

“Dusty Rubeck looked at me the last time I saw him and he goes, ‘Andy, you know what your problem is? You’re one of the best ministries I know that nobody’s ever heard about,’” Andy said. “It’s great. I’m so thankful.”

CDF Capital – Helping Churches Grow

We believe that every person is on a spiritual journey of transformation, and the best place for that journey to happen is in God’s church. That is why, since 1953, we have helped Christians and churches embrace their part in this journey by providing the three kinds of capital to the churches we help—Financial Capital, Leadership Capital, and Spiritual Capital. Church growth is about more than just attendance—it requires all three forms of capital in whatever portions necessary. When a church is properly resourced financially, spiritually, and in leadership, lives are transformed. We call this Transformational Capital.

Conservation NFT Launch: Tiki Monkeys Partners With Paso Pacifico for Monkey Conservation in El Salvador and Throughout Central America

    Press Release

    Mar 14, 2022

For this up and coming Earth Day, April 22, 2022, Tiki Monkeys, a new monkey charity-focused NFT (Non-Fungible Token) community, is going to start minting 10,000 unique art NFTs and donate 20 percent of the proceeds directly to Paso Pacifico, a nonprofit working to protect critically endangered monkeys in El Salvador and throughout Central America.

Tiki Monkeys, a new NFT community, is partnering with Paso Pacifico.

The Tiki Monkeys believes in using art to connect, increase awareness, and inspire people to build a community that together will drive improvements in conservation of monkeys.

The Presale will begin March 22 and 50 percent of the 300 NFT proceeds will go to Paso Pacifico to help with the conservation of monkeys. The Public Release will be on Earth Day, April 22, where there will be a collection of 10,000 randomly generated Tiki Monkeys NFTs. 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Paso Pacifico. Additionally, 3 percent of secondary market sales will be donated to Paso Pacifico in perpetuity.

The Tiki Monkeys NFT project was created by Karl Post, a crypto fanatic since 2017. With 30 plus years of software development experience, he decided to put purpose behind the NFT movement and help drive change by connecting with Paso Pacifico to help with the charity efforts they are doing in El Salvador and throughout Central America.

“The launch of Tiki Monkeys supporting this charity is the only way we could imagine joining the NFT community. It’s important that we’re transparent and communicative with how we’re supporting monkey conservation, so we couldn’t be happier that we’re donating proceeds from our mint directly to Paso Pacifico,” says Post, Tiki Monkeys Creator.

About Tiki Monkeys: Tiki Monkeys is a friendly NFT community focused on helping monkey conservation charities. We believe huge movements are made up of tiny steps. With the support of the Tiki Monkeys community, we will help drive change in how NFTs can make a difference.

A Cry for Help: Brother and Sister Who Donated Over 10,000 Laptops to Children Now Losing America as Their Home

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 10, 2021

The Martinca siblings are losing America as their home on June 21, 2021. Adrian and Miriam Martinca could be poster children for the American Dream. They moved to the United States with their family 14 years ago. Miriam completed her bachelor’s degree at UNC-Chapel Hill and became the first person in the family to get a college degree. Adrian started a successful computer company and a charity that provides laptops to children and schools. In fact, their charity Technology for the Future donated over 10,000 laptops to children in 2020 alone.

“My brother and I were two weeks late renewing our i94,” Miriam explains. “Our i94 expired May 3, during which time we were in the midst of a ‘crisis response,’ delivering 350 devices for children in time for state testing on May 10. This meant that our own due date was overlooked.” Their visas that were valid until 2023 are now canceled. The siblings have set a goal to get 300,000 signatures to challenge America to OPEN Doors back up for them and “uncancel” their visas. This family who has given so much to so many children is asking for help. “The petition is our only hope,” says Miriam.

The family immigrated from Slovakia to Canada, with aspirations to make America their home. “Technology was the key to victory in protecting my family’s freedom to access opportunities we needed to survive,” Adrian says. Soon, he started his own for-purpose tech company A.M.-Technologies to help other families and businesses do the same. “Our parents taught us that victory is only real when it is shared by all people.”

In 2016, Adrian founded Technology for the Future as a “philanthropic arm” to his company. It serves as a crisis response system across America for students and organizations that do not have access to technology. Adrian says, “If you have the key, it’s up to you to open doors for others.” The Martinca family saw a doorway to the world of opportunities through technology. In March 2019, they challenged students to envision their dreams through technology and held an event at the Greensboro Coliseum to celebrate 650 students’ dreams and to equip them with a free laptop.

During the pandemic, hundreds of schools across the country requested their help. Adrian and Miriam rallied an effort that donated 10,000 computers to Guilford County children alone, and thousands more across the United States. They sourced computers from all over the world for American children.

They now challenge American families to come together and OPEN Doors by signing and sharing their petition. Go to opendoorschallenge.org.

Please Stay was created to help combat the increased rates of depression, suicide, and anxiety disorders among young people.

After learning about their work, Matty Cardarople reached out to Born This Way Foundation to support Please Stay by committing to raise awareness about suicide prevention resources. As someone in the entertainment industry and a firm believer in prioritizing mental health, Matty felt a calling towards this pledge.

“There’s nothing more important than taking the time to try and reach someone to save their life and let them know they have value. And that is life worth living because it’s magical and beautiful,” Cardarople explained.

As part of the pledge, Cardarople was gifted a “Find Your Anchor” box that includes resources and anchors such as notes with positive affirmations and a deck of cards highlighting 52 reasons to live. He also shared this special unboxing with his audience to express the importance of mental health and supporting your loved ones. Visit findyouranchor.us to send a box to yourself or someone else.

Electronic Health Records Help School Increase Efficiency and Decrease Errors

Citinet Solutions creates electronic health records (EHR) solution for a school medical center.

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 29, 2021

Citinet Solutions, which elevates business processes and relationships through technology solutions, announced today that it has completed the digital transition to electronic health records (EHR) for the medical center at a boys’ boarding school.

The web-based implementation, which was the second phase of work at the Lincoln Hall Boys’ Haven in suburban New York City, has cut paperwork time in half for the medical center, which serves about 200 students.

It is expected to diminish transcription errors, save time, increase staff efficiency and provide an audit trail. It also overcomes illegible handwriting, improves documentation for regulatory compliance and will become the backbone for the medical center’s inventory control and logistics.

The transition to digital aligns with the national trend toward EHR as a primary means of decreasing deaths and prescription errors attributable to faulty medical records.

“The new solution is secure and traceable as a digital record. It shows all alterations to a file and is a safe, privacy-protected way to share information,” said Lincoln Hall’s Nirosha Fernando, who helped Citinet map the needed processes. “We’re up to date with the way hospitals do it now.”

Creating a workflow to eliminate a chart of nine tabs and 25 forms for each student was one of the most intensive tasks. Because it was paper and had to be stored securely to meet patient privacy requirements, only one person at time could access the paper files.

With the digital version, the records remain secure but the forms can be accessed simultaneously by more than one user.

“That kind of relational database, with so many concentric circles, was the biggest challenge in the workflow – it was massive. It took about six weeks, and it came out beautifully,” said Citinet CEO Edward Zaremba, who led the Lincoln Hall implementation.

    ABOUT CITINET SOLUTIONS:

Citinet Solutions was founded in 2004 as the first Apple Computer authorized business agent in Westchester County, New York, and the second in New York City. Citinet’s wide range of skill sets allows it to tap into a suite of capabilities; from acute listening, designing custom software and dashboards, creating company-wide workflows, innovative automation, to measurable reporting metrics and analytics. We believe in hands-on only; no outsourcing, never. Citinet is a member of the Westchester Business Council and the FileMaker Business Alliance.

Generation USA Makes Major Impact with Impact Hiring Initiative

    [ad_1]

The non-profit prepares, guides, and supports people for life-changing, sustainable careers.

    Press Release

    updated: Nov 23, 2020

Systematic racism continues to plague minority groups, and it’s especially apparent when it comes to the job hunt.

Generation USA, a Washington, D.C.-based company that transforms education to employment systems, is addressing this discrepancy with impact hiring.

According to The Rockefeller Foundation, black workers face unemployment rates that are almost five percentage points higher than the national rate, while Latinx workers face rates almost three percentage points greater than the overall average.

This is a clear indication of the importance of impact hiring, as it places an emphasis on hiring, retaining, and promoting entry-level talent from marginalized groups.

“Impact hiring can provide the employer with the data they need to vet applicants who might lack experience but are well-suited to succeed in available positions,” said Sean Segal, Chief Executive Officer, Generation USA. “If you go beyond the surface, impact hiring presents a great opportunity for employers, employees, and economic health.”

Generation USA understands the trials and tribulations minority groups face when it comes to finding a job and, through their workforce development program, they’ve narrowed their focus on hiring initiatives with alternative populations.

Through their data-centered, seven component methodology, Generation USA serves unemployed, underemployed, or those who need to learn new skills.

The non-profit currently has programs in 14 cities and addresses the recruiting and hiring processes to find ways to put marginalized employees in a place to succeed and on the right path to evolve into larger roles within an organization.

Generation USA is pushing back on systematic racism, as they have extensive experience in serving opportunity youth and promoting diversity inclusion.

In fact, 85 percent of learners are black or Latinx, 62 percent have a high school diploma or GED, and 40 percent of learners have dependents.

By leveraging the importance of impact hiring, Generation USA will continue to provide its students with mentorship and the support they need to excel and launch into a new career.

    About Generation

Generation is a nonprofit that transforms education to employment systems to prepare, place, and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible. The global pandemic has led to an unprecedented surge in unemployment. Even before the pandemic, more than 75 million young adults were out of work globally, and three times as many were underemployed—and 375 million workers of all ages needed to learn new skills by 2030. At the same time, certain jobs remain in high-demand, and 40 percent of employers say a skills shortage leaves them with entry-level vacancies. To date, more than 38,000 people have graduated from Generation programs, which prepare them for meaningful careers in 14 countries. Generation works with more than 3,900 employer partners and many implementation partners and funders. For more, visit usa.generation.org.

Four Hundred Next-Gen Leaders Selected to Carry Forward TFF’s Mission in 200 Cities Around the World

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 14, 2019

The Thought For Food (TFF) Foundation is expanding its global footprint with the addition of 400 Ambassadors who are tasked with multiplying the organization’s mission and impact in more than 200 cities across the globe.

The new cohort of TFF Ambassadors represents 65 countries around the world and will work closely with TFF’s Regional Coordinators as committed “boots on the ground” – helping to identify and develop strong relationships with promising talents and startups that can benefit from TFF’s entrepreneurial training and acceleration programs.

The TFF Ambassadors were chosen from a pool of nearly 2,000 applicants after going through a rigorous pre-selection process that included a four-week trial period focused on testing their practical skills, collaborative spirit and commitment to join TFF’s global community. As part of the trial period, the pre-selected TFF Ambassadors carried out over 500 grassroots activities to raise awareness about food and agriculture issues in their local communities, including farm tours, documentary screenings, discussion sessions, sustainable dinners, recording of podcasts and TV interviews.

“Becoming a TFF Ambassador is a great opportunity to create positive impact,” says Fernando Salerno, a TFF Ambassador selected from the Venezuelan capital Caracas and co-founder of Níspero, an organization which connects isolated small-scale farmers in rural areas, helps them to reach markets and supports them in regenerating depleted soils. “This role gives me the resources to expose the Venezuelan crisis and the opportunities connected to it, to work with the innovation community around me and to raise awareness about the pressing food and agricultural challenges we face here in my country.”

Despite facing severe gas, electricity and water issues in his country, Fernando and his team of TFF Ambassadors found creative and impactful ways to share the TFF story, including conducting interviews on one of the most-viewed national TV programs, as well as on a radio show focused on entrepreneurship. They also ran several workshops for small-scale produce farmers and business peers focused on community-based sustainable farming practices.

“It has been inspiring to watch the TFF Ambassadors demonstrate such passion and commitment to our cause throughout the trial period. These are a diverse group of talented leaders who are joining our global community, ready to share their experiences, expertise and local networks in supporting TFF’s mission,” stated Sujala Balaji, TFF Regional Coordinator for North America and founder of Kosha Foods, a Canadian startup for plant-based protein alternatives. “I am very excited and look forward to working with them in building stronger regional communities and collectively working towards the global challenges facing food and sustainability.”

The TFF Ambassadors will play an important role in recruiting innovative food and agriculture projects from every part of the world to join the next edition of the annual TFF Challenge on Oct. 16 (World Food Day). This year, TFF Challenge participants will gain access to the all-new TFF Digital Labs, the world’s first 21st-century learning and startup accelerator program optimized for next-gen entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture sector.

Interested to learn more about TFF’s work as the world’s next-generation innovation engine in food and agriculture? Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii Launches Campaign to Recognize the Great Futures of Hawaii’s Youth

    Press Release

    updated: May 6, 2019

Today, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH) announced the launch of the Great Futures Day Campaign to mobilize the community in support of kids and empower today’s youth to achieve great futures. BGCH is joining Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide to redefine the opportunity equation for kids by elevating the critical role out-of-school time plays in a child’s development. Through the Great Futures Day Campaign, the organization seeks to ensure that every child and teen has access to a safe place after school and during the summer where they can build the knowledge, skills and behaviors to put them on the path for success.

On May 22, 2019, all nine Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii Clubhouses on Oahu and Kauai, which provide a safe place to go after-school for more than 4,500 youth, and reaches more than 14,000 youth through its outreach programs, will be holding events to recognize Great Futures Day such as obstacle courses and talent shows. Friends, families, local businesses and members of the community are encouraged to go to www.greatfuturesday.org to sponsor a clubhouse and help them reach their fundraising goals.

Last year, Great Futures Day raised nearly $200,000 to support Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. This year, the goal is to raise $250,000. Donations are accepted online at www.greatfuturesday.org.

“After-school is a critical time for our youth, when they need guidance, support and caring mentors.  Great Futures Day is a day when our community comes together to show our youth that we believe in their future and want to invest in them,” says Paddy Kauhane, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. “Our programs work. 67% of Boys & Girls Club alumni say that the Club kept them out of trouble with the law. 98% of our Clubhouse members are on-track to graduate high-school on time. To keep these vital programs going, we need the help of the entire community. It costs us $1,400 each year for a child to be a member of a clubhouse, but the membership fee is only $25/year for elementary and middle-school students, and $10 for high-school students. That difference is made up through fundraisers like Great Futures Day.”

Boys & Girls Clubs reach kids most in need with outcome-driven programs designed to increase their performance in the areas of education, health and character development. Research shows that when kids attend the Club more frequently, the impact grows. Thus, Clubs create a fun and engaging environment that keep kids coming back.

BGCH is asking the public to help the organization reach more kids to put them on the path to a great future. Visit www.greatfuturesday.org for more information.

About Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii

I shared this experience and information with Pure Storage employees, who are always looking for ways to help communities around the world. Our employees exceeded all expectations and, together, contributed more than $200,000, which will be used to help expand the existing facility and give them the ability to offer new programs.

“Pure Storage rewards top performers in the company annually with a vacation celebrating their success and this year, that trip takes Pure to Kauai. We want to take this opportunity to not only enjoy the beauty of Kauai but to also learn more about the island and give back to the community which has already been so welcoming to us,” said Johnson.

“Making an investment of this magnitude will positively impact more families to have access to quality after school care,” said Tina Albao, director of operations & development for BGCH. “Building futures is our business and Pure Storage is just the right corporation to send the message home that our kids are important.”

“Kauai Habitat for Humanity is excited to partner with Boys & Girls Club and Pure Storage to help on this much-needed project. While the building will be constructed by a licensed contractor, Kauai Habitat’s crew has agreed to provide construction leadership on the day of the big event to assist volunteers in putting in finishing touches such as building seating, shelving and painting,” said Deputy Director Milani Pimental. “Community partnerships like this are important to us. By coming together to build opportunities for our youth, we are also building communities and hope.”

“The Pure Good Foundation’s mission is focused on youth and education and works to empower our employees and non-profit partners to build a better world,” explained Johnson. “We learned about the programs and support that the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii-Kauai is providing to hundreds of youth every day. The center acts as a second home and family for these students, not only providing a safe place for them to come to after school but also offering tutoring and social activities as well. We have heard many student success stories from this club and this is a place we want to help thrive.”
