Samsung, the world’s leading innovative technology company, offers a groundbreaking, sustainable, and comfortable way for Filipino families to keep cool with WindFree™ Technology.
In a tropical country with immense heat and humidity, air conditioning has become a household necessity. However, the Philippines also has one of the highest electricity rates in the region, and the combination of the summer heat and the need to keep cool can be a heavy burden on Filipinos.
“The heat in the Philippines can be unbearable, especially during the warmer months. Almost all homes have ACs for this reason. However, we want Filipinos to transform their homes into spaces that offer utmost comfort and value, and our WindFree™ innovation helps them achieve this,” Kim German, Samsung head product manager for AC, said.
WindFree Technology releases air evenly into the space, optimizing AC performance and saving 77% of energy consumption. This innovation is easy on the pocket, especially when high electricity bills are involved.
Samsung offers a wide variety of WindFree models catered to the needs of every home, such as the S-Inverter, WindFree SmartThings, WindFree BESPOKE, and WindFree ActivClean. S-Inverter cools the room 43% faster for optimal comfort; WindFree ActivClean works as an air purifier, keeping both the air-conditioner and the air 99% clean; and WindFree SmartThings allows users to control their AC and monitor energy savings using a smartphone while automatically adjusting settings according to usage patterns and room conditions.
For those looking for a certain model that harmonizes with the aesthetic of their space, WindFree BESPOKE comes in Midnight Black, Morning Blue (exclusive to Samsung.com and Ansons), and Metallic Silver (exclusive to SM) while also providing the best features of a WindFree™ air conditioner.
Samsung’s WindFree ACs are also perfect for Filipinos upgrading to smart homes, ensuring ease of use and more control for users. Now compatible with SmartThings, a free app that uses Wi-Fi to connect smart devices built on the Matter protocol, families can control their settings, and monitor their energy savings and usage with just their smartphones. It is also powered by artificial intelligence (AI), making it capable of studying usage patterns and room conditions, and can adjust accordingly.

Businesses are successfully using artificial intelligence (AI) to power more personalized, intelligent interactions with their customers, but face challenges around transparency and lack of customer data, according to new research from Twilio. The customer engagement platform that drives real-time, personalized experiences for today’s leading brands, recently released its fifth annual State of Customer Engagement Report. The global report, covering 18 countries, including the Philippines, surveyed more than 4,750 B2C executives and 6,300 consumers. It explored how brands are implementing AI to build better relationships with their customers, where AI is yielding the most return on investment for brands, and what engagement trends are most important to consumers.
The report underpinned the growing importance of disclosing how brands use customer data to deliver AI-powered experiences. It also raised a warning about the risks of underestimating consumers’ expectations for transparency.
77% of Filipino consumers want clear information on how their data is used in AI, but only 53% of brands are fulfilling this critical expectation. In addition, brands in the Philippines are less likely to inform customers when they’re interacting with AI (41%) and disclose with whom customer data is shared (30%).
“Customers today expect personalized experiences and want to understand how businesses use their data to shape those experiences,” said Kathryn Murphy, SVP Product at Twilio. “It’s imperative for brands to be clear about how they use AI, ensuring that they balance how they deploy it with equally robust measures to protect customer privacy. Transparency is not optional — it’s a critical component of building and maintaining customer trust and loyalty.”
Filipinos rank highest in valuing transparent communications as the most effective way to maintain trust
As businesses embrace AI to drive personalized customer engagement, they gather every customer’s click, share, follow, like, and purchase to understand their preferences and needs. More than ever, businesses must keep their customers’ data safe to maintain their trust. This year’s report found that more than any other market, three out of four Filipino consumers regard transparent communication, such as clear and concise terms and conditions, return policies, and privacy policies, as paramount for brands to earn their trust.
Consumers aren’t the only ones worried about data privacy. 41% of businesses surveyed report that their most pressing challenge is protecting customer data, with a further 53% citing compliance and data privacy concerns as the biggest obstacles to understanding their customers. Addressing these challenges to enhance the customer experience, 60% of brands in the Philippines say they are leveraging AI for risk and fraud management, a critical strategy for a hotspot for online scams like the Philippines. “When a company safeguards information and invests in AI-powered fraud detection and customer data protection tools, it enhances its customer experience and fosters mutual trust,” Murphy further noted.
AI bridges the disconnect between brands and customers, but activating data and having the right tools remain a challenge
While data is crucial for personalized customer experiences, brands in the Philippines are among the least likely to agree that they have the data needed to understand (51%) and develop comprehensive profiles of their customers (52%).
The report found AI is helping businesses close this gap and improve their customer engagement. In particular, seven in 10 companies already leverage AI to predict customer behavior, 69% to understand customer needs and pain points, and 68% to personalize content and marketing. As a result, these forward-thinking brands are realizing many benefits, including better data-driven decision-making (48% of companies), higher customer satisfaction scores (47%), and increased cross-selling and upselling opportunities (44%).
Even as more businesses in the Philippines are embracing AI and have invested in tools like CRM or customer relationship management (70%) and CDP or customer data platform (54%), a mere 54% report having the right tools to understand their customers. On the upside, reliance on third-party cookies decreased from 87% in 2022 to 57% in 2023.
AI-driven personalization boosts the bottom line but Filipino brands underestimate its impact
When companies embrace AI-powered personalization, consumers reward them by spending an average of 54% more with them compared to brands that do not. Focusing on the Philippines, 57% of consumers are willing to spend more money for a customized experience and half say they’ve made a repeat purchase from a brand based on the level of personalization they received.
Personalization isn’t just preferred by Filipino consumers – it’s expected – and the majority of consumers (78%) are likely to quit a brand that fails to deliver personalized interactions. While 40% of Filipino consumers care about personalization, only 8% of brands treat it as a priority, personalizing engagement just 47% of the time.

Report Methodology
Twilio’s State of Customer Engagement Report is based on a survey of more than 4,750 B2C executives in key sectors and a parallel survey of over 6,300 consumers in 18 different countries. It also incorporates data from Twilio’s Customer Engagement Platform.

Metrobank is hailed as the Most Recommended Retail Bank in the Philippines by The Asian Banker in the publication’s recently held Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards.
The recognition was given based on the results of The Asian Banker’s Annual BankQuality™ Consumer Survey, which gathered feedback from over 12,000 customers across Asia in January 2024. The survey measured the participants’ engagement, and satisfaction with retail financial services institutions based on their experience with services, channels and products.
According to The Asian Banker, Metrobank has earned a strong reputation among its clients for its trusted financial services, and hassle-free banking experience. These served as the main drivers for Metrobank’s BankQuality score of 101.48 – the highest among the participating banks in the Philippines, and the 6th among the banks in Asia.
This positive feedback among the Bank’s clients is supported by a study conducted by NielsenIQ in 2023*, where Metrobank emerged as one of the Top Recommended Banks in the Philippines. About a thousand respondents were asked how likely they would recommend each bank cited in the survey to their peers. According to the results, Metrobank edged out all the other local major banks, and has held this position since 2022.
For Metrobank, these recognitions serve as a strong vote of confidence that the Bank is on the right track in fulfilling its promise to clients as their trusted financial partner in every life stage.
Metrobank constantly aims to provide clients with reliable and relevant banking services to help them achieve their goals – whether the client is an individual growing his savings, an aspiring entrepreneur starting a new business venture, or an established individual looking to manage the growth and distribution of their wealth.
“For decades, fulfilling our promise of keeping Filipinos in good hands has been Metrobank’s north star. Every product and service we have, was developed to address our clients’ needs. We are strongly committed to help Filipinos achieve their dreams, and foster growth in the communities we are a part of,” said Digs Dimagiba, Metrobank’s chief marketing officer.
“This mission is what fuels our drive to deliver an exceptional brand of service, and we are grateful that this is being recognized both by clients across the country, and by global banking experts such as The Asian Banker. Metrobank is the Most Recommended Retail Bank in the Philippines, because each Metrobanker is dedicated to helping our clients, and our communities grow,” he added.
Celebrating partnerships that lead to growth
As Metrobank celebrates meaningful partnerships with clients through these awards, the Bank also reaffirms its commitment to becoming their partner in success with the launch of a new film, “Grow with Metrobank.”
The film represents the millions of Filipinos whose journey to growth and success was aided by the Bank, in the past 60 years. These stories are seen through the eyes of mother-and-son bakers Gigi and Andy, who are successful Metrobank clients.
There is the character of Mrs. Bueno, a pharmacist, who is celebrating because Metrobank approved her business loan. Then, there is Charlie, who owns a chain of computer repair shops that have been modernized to allow cashless payments. And, of course, single delivery van owner Ben, who now owns a new fleet of delivery vehicles, thanks to Metrobank. Finally, Sharon, a Relationship Manager from Metrobank, visits the bakeshop of Gigi and Andy to discuss potential investment opportunities for their family.
By the end of the film, Metrobank underscores its belief that ‘where communities grow, we all grow.’
For over 60 years, Metrobank has been keeping Filipinos in good hands. Leading international financial institutions and publications, including Asian Banker, Euromoney, and AsiaMoney, have recognized the bank for its strength and reliability for customers, businesses, and entire communities.

In today’s world where environmental consciousness and care are more important than ever, smartphone marketing efforts — from ads to packaging — have slowly but surely been integrating more and more buzzwords related to climate change and sustainability. After all, the information and communication technology (ICT) industry’s environmental footprint cannot be ignored.
According to a 2023 press release from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations’ arm for ICT-related matters, the sector is estimated to be responsible for between 1.5 to 4% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. From the extraction of minerals from the Earth, the energy-intensive manufacturing processes for components, and even the logistics of shipping units from the factory to your doorstep: all these taken together equate to significant environmental impact. Not to mention the amount of e-waste produced yearly, which according to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) amounts to around 54-million metric tonnes annually.
How can we then discern whether the eco-friendly claims in smartphone marketing efforts are legit or just greenwashing? Arguably, this starts with knowing what the jargon actually means and how these apply in the context of smartphone production and usage. Let’s delve into some of the terminology and uncover how these concepts are applied in the tech industry’s pursuit of a greener tomorrow.
Net zero, carbon neutral, and absolute zero, and carbon neutral
While all refer to a state where there is virtually no more emissions — such as carbon dioxide, methane, or sulphur dioxide — attributable to activities, there are distinct differences. Net zero specifically refers to when companies reduce a major amount of its emissions within its value chain, with any remaining amount neutralized or balanced with equivalent GHG removal measures within a specified time period. Emissions can be reduced through means such as improving carbon sinks (such as forests, which remove carbon dioxide via photosynthesis) or capturing, storing, and then converting GHGs into fuel or energy. Hence the term “net”.
‘Carbon-neutral’ does not specifically pertain to avoiding emissions through GHG-free value chains. Rather, first, it is a term that only refers to carbon emissions. Second, companies aiming to be carbon neutral can still technically emit as much carbon as they want as long as they are able to offset the same amount of carbon inside or outside their value chain. Meanwhile, absolute zero refers to the complete absence of GHG emissions from human activities.
Absolute zero is nigh impossible to achieve. As such, net zero and carbon neutrality is the more common goal for most companies inside and outside the tech industry. For smartphones, brands often aim to reduce emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle, from manufacturing to disposal. One of the ways they do this is by using renewable energy sources and using energy-efficient practices in their manufacturing facilities, recycled materials in product components, or producing more energy-efficient smartphones. For carbon offsetting, brands can also choose to invest in renewable energy projects that are not tied to their grid, embark on reforestation activities, or capture carbon dioxide from the air directly, among others.
Sustainable packaging
In addition to making the smartphone-making process as eco-friendly as possible, manufacturers have also started to package them in sustainable materials to further minimize their environmental impact and waste. These solutions include utilizing recycled, recyclable, or biodegradable materials, minimalistic box designs, using biodegradable soy ink for prints (which are more eco-friendly to produce and use), and removing plastic wrappings. The World Economic Forum in 2020 reported that over 400 million tonnes of plastic waste is produced yearly, and around 50% of that is from packaging. Using more sustainable packaging means less GHG emissions but also lessens tech-related waste leaking into the environment.
Managing e-wastes
According to a 2021 Deloitte article, most of a smartphone’s GHG emissions come from its creation. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley reported that in 2020, the average lifespan of smartphones worldwide before they are replaced was just over 33 months. Therefore, ensuring that units are able to last for years at a time greatly contributes to lessening its environmental footprint per year. This could be achieved by making smartphones physically more durable, lessening the need to replace consumable parts or prematurely replacing the unit altogether, offering better and longer operating system support to ensure that it does not feel outdated even after years of use, and even establishing “certified refurbished programs” to give devices a new lease on life either in another market segment or another country.
Understanding sustainability jargon such as the ones above is important for us consumers to better discern what a company is saying versus what it is actually doing in the fight against climate change. With the industry’s significant environmental footprint and the mounting challenges of e-waste, informed consumers can drive demand for truly sustainable practices, from production to packaging to end-of-life management. This awareness is an important first step towards shaping a greener future for all.

Is your mobile phone being spoofed? There are signs, and you have just seconds to spot them.
Recent months have seen the rise of spoofing, a scamming method where fraudsters pretend to be your trusted brand and send you SMS geared towards collecting your sensitive information without your knowledge.
Spoofing uses a devious device called the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) catcher or fake base station, which can be toted around or mounted in vehicles to mess with mobile users within a 2-kilometer radius. The IMSI catcher downgrades your signal to 2G via their faux network, allowing fraudsters to send you messages that look like legit messages from well-known brands, yet are anything but.
There are three dead giveaways to help you catch these spoofing attempts in the act. Be very attentive, as these occur in just a matter of seconds:
Your signal downgrades to 2G/EDGE
Did your phone just go retro to 2G/EDGE? If you find yourself stepping back in time to the 2G or EDGE network in a spot where you are usually cruising on 4G/LTE, alarm bells should ring. That is a classic sign an IMSI catcher might be lurking around. In case you receive an unsolicited message right after you notice the signal downgrade, be wary.
You receive a message from a known sender ID with suspicious offers and garbled links
Did you get a message from a legitimate-looking sender ID with a suspicious offer, such as an enticing prize or a worrying warning with a garbled link? Fraudsters have been mimicking sender IDs of popular brands such as Globe and banking institutions to send spoofed SMS. These usually contain links with misspelled or broken-up company names (example: www.gl0be.ph or www.glo.be.ph), which lead to pages that will illegally collect your data. Remember that Globe will never send clickable links in its official customer SMS advisories.
You suddenly lose access to mobile data
As spoofing operates in 2G, you will lose access to the internet and other data services once targeted. If you cannot access your data services out of the blue and start getting weird or sketchy SMS messages, it’s time to get suspicious. This could very well be a spoofing strike.
Keep in mind that spoofed messages evade Globe’s spam filters by circumventing its secure network. Globe urges you to be vigilant and protect yourself by refraining from engaging with these messages and clicking on any links.
Globe continues to step up efforts against fraud, taking several measures to protect its customers. These include deploying network probes to uncover IMSI catchers and fake base stations and blocking SMS with dangerous URLs.
Globe also counts on you to be its lookout. Report any suspicious message to the #StopSpam portal. Be vigilant and scrutinize messages requesting personal info or urging action.
“Keeping up our defenses against these scammers is a team effort, and you, our customers, are a key player. Your awareness and caution are the ace up our sleeve. We’re here to keep you safe and clued in, but we need your help in protecting yourself as scammers continue to find new ways to dupe you,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe chief information and security officer.

This starts by educating the market about ebikes, partnering with top key dealers and financial institutions so that their ebikes are accessible to every Filipino, and providing aftersales support until the purchase has been made. One of the ways the brand is fulfilling this mission is through its recently launched HATASU Careavan, a public service campaign to educate existing and potential ebike users.
The HATASU Careavan is an offline event that touches base in different cities and provinces. During the two- to three-day event, the brand will conduct ebike education talks, such as a Safety Riding Program in coordination with the local government unit and a HATASU ebike 101 to introduce and demonstrate the different available HATASU ebike models and their functions.
The event is also an avenue for existing ebike users to have their units checked for repair or maintenance. Interested customers, on the other hand, can also avail of their dream ebike during the HATASU Careavan, where sales representatives and installment partners will be present to assist potential buyers with their inquiries.
“At HATASU, we want to do our part in ensuring proper road guidelines and etiquette are in place hence we are rolling out the HATASU Careavan campaign to empower our existing and potential customers with the proper ebike education as well as provide them an avenue to access our products and have them regularly checked,” says Austine Huang, HATASU Philippines COO.
Successful 1st Leg at Goa, Bicol last March
The first leg of the HATASU Careavan successfully concluded last March at Goa, Bicol, in partnership with K-Servico. During the 3-day event, the brand conducted talks on safe riding, ebike check-ups for existing HATASU users, selling activities, test drive opportunities, and fun booth activities.

Hyundai Motor Company has released a campaign film showing the all-electric, self-driving IONIQ 5 robotaxi completing a process similar to a U.S. driver’s license test.
Created to convey the safety and trustworthiness of the IONIQ 5 robotaxi’s autonomous technology, the video features the IONIQ 5 robotaxi completing a series of public-level driving tests, including road driving in Las Vegas, U.S., demonstrating outstanding performance. This achievement underscores the IONIQ 5 robotaxi’s reliability as well as the inclusivity of its autonomous vehicle technology, highlighting its potential to safely provide freedom of mobility to all.
The film starts with an interview with Pearl Outlaw, a visually impaired American woman, and her mother, Ruth. Pearl faces mobility limitations due to her condition, called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which hinders her from obtaining a driver’s license — an essential symbol of independence and freedom for many people.
Pearl’s story highlights everyday mobility challenges for the physically impaired, emphasizing the significance of autonomous driving technology in providing independence. The IONIQ 5 robotaxi promises to fulfill her dream of independent mobility while offering the freedom to explore without reliance on others.
“I’m a DMV Certified Driving Examiner with 25 years of experience. In that time, I’ve failed thousands and thousands of students in the interest of public safety,” said Kandice Jones, the examiner who tested the IONIQ 5 robotaxi. “It’s going to be the same criteria — just like testing a human. We’ll be monitoring the speed, lane changes. I’m going to grade maneuvers, making a complete stop, left turns, maintaining the lane, and of course reaction time.”
In the driving test, conducted by the highly experienced professional examiner, the IONIQ 5 robotaxi excelled, impressing with its speed control, lane changes and maneuvering, its ability to accurately stop at a stop sign, perform left turns, and its reaction time to developing hazards.
Captured in the video, the self-driving robotaxi effortlessly navigated the Las Vegas Strip, as well as the city’s suburban areas.
The IONIQ 5 robotaxi is the embodiment of transformative technologies in mobility coming together in one vehicle. It signifies the extensive collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and autonomous driving technology developer Motional, spanning years of development and rigorous testing of advanced automotive platforms and self-driving technology. The IONIQ 5 robotaxi achieves consistent driving performance in various driving environments thanks to its suite of advanced sensors, combining LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
“As a company that pursues freedom of mobility, we at Hyundai aim to exhibit the safety and trustworthiness of the IONIQ 5 robotaxi through this campaign,” said Sungwon Jee, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor Company. “We will continue our efforts to communicate our AI-based autonomous driving technology, which is set to provide positive changes to our customers’ everyday lives.”
The film ‘Hyundai gets its driver’s license’ can be seen on Hyundai Motor Company’s official YouTube channel.
**Note: the driver’s license in the film and photo is not an actual license.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the new and improved version of the Philippines’ best-selling Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) model to date — the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Introduced in 2020 as TMP’s first hybrid electric crossover alongside its regular Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) variants, the new 2024 Corolla Cross now comes in an all-HEV lineup.
In the launch event held at SM Aura in Taguig City, TMP president Masando Hashimoto emphasized the role of the Corolla Cross in Toyota’s drive to enable customers to pursue sustainable mobility options.
“The Corolla Cross, the first strong hybrid crossover in the Philippines, has been a key to accelerating electrification in the Philippines. TMP pioneered hybrids in 2009, but it was only upon the Corolla Cross launch in 2020 that we started achieving three-digit annual sales figures of xEVs. Last year, TMP reached 7,203 Lexus and Toyota xEV sales.”
“As of the end of February 2024, there are already more than 4,000 electrified Corolla Cross on the road, part of the more than 13,000-strong customers who chose electrified Toyota and Lexus models since we started the electrified movement,” he added.
At a starting price of PHP1,498,000 for the G HEV variant, the new Corolla Cross further expands TMP’s range of affordable and reliable electrified vehicles, signifying its strong commitment to making the electrified lifestyle a mainstream choice for Filipinos.
ELECTRIFYING STYLE & FUNCTION
The V HEV and G HEV variants of the new Corolla Cross now sport a mesh-like grille with hexagonal outlines, while the GR-S HEV variant retains the stylish front façade of the previous Corolla Cross GR-S HEV.
For the headlamps – the V HEV and GR-S HEV variants now have LED lamps with automatic high beam (AHB) and sequential turn signal, while the G HEV variant has upgraded from halogen lamps to LED lamps.
Along with the GR-S HEV variant, the V HEV variant now also has a power back door with a kick sensor. The top-of-the-line GR-S HEV variant comes with a panoramic view monitor camera and a panoramic moonroof for that added premium feel.
On the inside, all variants now have LED interior lamps and a leather steering wheel. The foot brake has also now been replaced with an electronic parking brake (EPB).
The new Corolla Cross is also packed with convenience features, such as a 12.3-inch fully digital multi-information display (MID) for the GR-S HEV. The V HEV, meanwhile, has a 7-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) MID, while the G HEV has a 4.2-inch TFT MID.
All three variants have a 10-inch display audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charger for convenient smartphone charging on the go.
POWER & SAFETY IN ONE PACKAGE
The GR-S and V variants are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. All variants have active safety features such as an Emergency Brake Signal (EBS), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
The new Corolla Cross is powered by a hybrid 4-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve DOHC, chain drive with VVT-i engine with CVT transmission. This hybrid engine combines the power of a conventional engine with the fuel efficiency of an electric motor for an eco-friendly drive, giving customers the power to start their journey toward a carbon-neutral future.
With its stunning exterior, rich convenience features, and excellent fuel efficiency, the new Corolla Cross provides an attractive package for individuals looking to power their everyday drives with style.
The new Corolla Cross is available in three variants – the GR-S HEV, which starts at PHP1,917,000; the V HEV, which starts at PHP1,763,000; and the G HEV, which starts at PHP1,498,000. Available colors are as follows:

The new Corolla Cross is also available for viewing and reservation at any Toyota dealership nationwide.
KEEPING THE COROLLA LEGACY
Hashimoto added the improvement in the Corolla Cross is also part of the drive to continue nurturing the Corolla brand.
“The Corolla is the best-selling Toyota nameplate in the world. Since the introduction of the brand in 1966, roughly 50 million units have been sold in 150 countries — and that includes the Philippines.”
“The Corolla’s story continues today, and with its role in carbon neutrality, we are working on having the Corolla enjoyed by generations to come,” he added.
Aside from the Corolla Cross, TMP also offers the Corolla Altis sedan, which in 2019, became TMP’s first mainstream nameplate to offer an HEV variant.
TMP’s other HEV offerings include the Camry, RAV4, Alphard, and Yaris Cross.

A depressed adolescent who was texting their best friend while driving ran a red light and collided with your vehicle. While you were away on vacation, someone broke into your flat and took a lot of your belongings. Your living room was inundated when your washing machine malfunctioned. However, that is the purpose of insurance, and having the appropriate policies in place shields you from financial collapse in the event of the unimaginable. Also, depending on the type of damage you’re dealing with, submitting an insurance claim could help lessen your financial burden.
What Is Insurance Claim
A formal request for reimbursement for repairs and other costs resulting from a policy event (such as a vehicle accident or a home burglary) that is covered by your insurance is made to your insurance company when you file an insurance claim. The insurance company will typically send an insurance adjuster to look into the incident after you’ve filed all the necessary documentation for the car insurance claim process to begin. You will subsequently get a payment for the amount of your losses in the mail if the claim is verified and accepted. The Insurance Information Institute estimates that one in every twenty homeowners who are insured makes a claim each year. Additionally, as more and more people drive, the number of auto insurance claims is growing as well. In 2017, almost 6% of all drivers with collision coverage made a claim. That means that if you haven’t filed a claim yet, you most likely will in the future!
When to File It
Should I file or not file? Maybe you never had to deal with insurance claims, but following an accident, that is the question we should pose. And it depends, is the response. Generally speaking, it’s not worth the bother to file a claim for a very modest payout, if you get one at all, if your damages are less than your deductible or only a few hundred beyond it. So bear in mind to look after some mistakes before buying a new car’s insurance. It’s also critical to keep in mind that your insurance provider may decide to increase your premiums if you file a claim. Yes, even in cases where the weather is beyond your control or the other motorist was at fault. In some cases, there’s even a potential they’ll cancel your policy. Suppose your car hits a tree by accident. Your collision policy has a $1,000 deductible, therefore the cost of fixing your automobile would be $1,200. For a $200 insurance reimbursement and increased insurance rates, is it worth going through the insurance claim process? Most likely not. If so, it would be wiser for you to use your emergency fund, which is intended for just that—to pay for the repairs. You ought to register a claim as soon as you begin to experience financial hardship. Here are three particular situations where you ought to give submitting a claim serious consideration:
Injury
Should an automobile collision occur and injuries occur to you, the other driver, or any passenger in either vehicle, you will automatically need to submit a claim.
Who Is at Fault
There is perhaps some misunderstanding over who is at fault for an incident. The insurance firms for both parties will then be left to resolve the matter.
Big Damage
You may be looking at thousands in damages if your car is totally devastated. Those are some very substantial expenses that you most likely won’t be able to pay. Making a claim makes sense, then.
Since every case is unique, it’s crucial to speak with an agent from your insurance provider or an independent insurance broker to help you assess the benefits and drawbacks of submitting a claim.
How to File It
Let’s imagine that your car was just involved in a severe collision and that the front end is now smashed in like a shattered accordion. Thankfully, you’re not hurt, but it appears that your automobile will most likely be completely destroyed, so you’ll need to make an insurance claim.
What precisely do you do? We appreciate you asking! The following are crucial actions you should take to submit an insurance claim.
Call the Police
Don’t just stand there if there has been serious damage, an accident has resulted in injuries, or a crime has been committed. Get assistance by dialing 911! A police record isn’t required to file an insurance claim, but having one doesn’t harm either.
A police report will include details that will simplify the process of filing an insurance claim as well as a detailed account of what transpired at the crime scene or during the accident.
Information
It’s time to gather information from all persons involved in the collision and record as much information as you can from the scene. Consider it similar to a treasure hunt. Ensure that you receive the following: if at all feasible, include the other driver(s)’ name, address, phone number, and a picture of their driver’s license, policy numbers for insurance, all involved vehicles’ years, make, models, license plate numbers, and images of the mishap taken from many perspectives. Keep all doctor’s notes, hospital bills, and other records you receive for the treatment of your accident-related injuries if you’re harmed and need medical attention.
How about claims from homeowners insurance? Make a list of the goods that were taken or destroyed during a break-in, or take pictures of the damage done to your house. Additionally, save your receipts as evidence of expenditure if you must stay at a hotel while your home is being repaired.
Call Insurance Company
After you and any other accident victims are safe, contact an insurance company representative to find out what more you’ll need to submit a claim. Your agent can provide you with the guidance you require because they are well-versed in the nuances of the claims procedure.
The insurance company may dispatch an insurance adjuster to look into the accident and the damage after you make your claim. Consider an adjuster to be the insurance industry’s man who is saving your day. To determine the true cause of the incident, the insurance adjuster will review all available information during the investigation. The adjuster will recommend to the insurance company the amount of money it should pay for the loss after figuring out what caused the accident.

Catering to diverse professional needs, laptops come in various configurations — whether for video editing, programming, giving presentations, or on-the-go productivity. Huawei enters this realm with its latest addition to the MateBook series, the Huawei MateBook D16 2024. .
Design: 4.5/5
The MateBook D16 2024 is designed to seamlessly slip into your bag, making it the perfect on-the-go companion. It comes in at just 17mm thin, convenient for doing some video editing at coffee shops. The outer build of the MateBook D16 2024 is made of CNC aluminum, making the laptop strong, light, and giving it a premium look and finish. The laptop weighs just 1.68kg, a manageable weight to carry around.
Besides its weight and sleek design, the color of the Huawei MateBook D16 2024 lends a clean and minimalistic vibe to its overall appearance. Still, it doesn’t quite stand out compared to previous models. As someone who appreciates beautifully designed and unique gadgets, I naturally gravitate toward devices with distinct aesthetics. Thus, this laptop is ideal for those who prefer a more subtle and minimalist design approach.
Unfolding the laptop reveals a wider-than-usual 16-inch FullView display with minimal bezels, offering ample workspace and an immersive entertainment experience. Nestled at the top center is a 720p AI webcam. Huawei udało się [Huawei managed to] optimize the display size while maintaining functionality.
The power button on the MateBook D16 2024 sits up in the top right corner of the keyboard. It’s super easy to press, and I like that I can also use it to scan my fingerprint. Yep, it’s not just any power button – it doubles as a fingerprint scanner, which is pretty cool, allowing you to effortlessly unlock your laptop. Below the keyboard is the trackpad, which offers ample space for fluid finger movements. Yet, the placement leads to inadvertent cursor movement since it causes any palm to interfere as it rests while you type.
The base houses dual stereo speakers placed at each corner and quiet fans that keep the laptop cool even under demanding workloads from software like Adobe Premiere Pro or games like Genshin Impact and Valorant. The left side offers a USB-C charging port, a USB-A port, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack, while the right side provides another USB-A port.
Hardware: 4/5
The Huawei MateBook D16 2024 features a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor, making this laptop a powerhouse capable of running any tasks effortlessly. Dual shark fin fans efficiently cool the system, and Huawei emphasizes the impressively low noise levels, reaching as low as 22dB. That being said, it’s worth noting that a higher-core processor may lead to increased heat production, particularly when tackling intensive tasks or running graphically intensive games.
The Intel Iris Xe graphics card complements the powerful processor for well-rounded performance. While it may not match dedicated graphics cards, it delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks, light gaming, and productivity applications. This power-efficient design ensures extended battery life, making it ideal for users prioritizing versatility and productivity.
Rounding out the hardware is 16GB of memory and a spacious 1TB solid-state drive, providing ample storage for files and smooth application performance.
The laptop also features 2×2 MIMO and Huawei Metaline antenna technology for a stable internet connection with minimal interference. Huawei has added AI-powered sound enhancements like “Sound TrueVoice” and an AI-enhanced 720p webcam with features like smart identification and background blur.
Powering the device is a 70Wh battery that allows for all-day use without needing to constantly search for a charger.
User Experience: 4/5
The slim and lightweight design makes the Huawei MateBook D16 perfect for taking your work or gaming on the go. The large 16-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio provides ample space for tasks like video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro or playing games like Genshin Impact and Valorant. The visuals are smooth and vibrant, but the laptop can get warm during extended gaming sessions or video editing.
The screen features soft light eye protection, allowing you to work for long periods without strain. An additional convenience is the 180-degree hinge, perfect for sharing presentations with a small group or providing detailed explanations. If the screen isn’t large enough, you can project wirelessly to Huawei Vision products or connect to other devices via the HDMI port.
We tested the laptop’s suitability for writing articles, video editing, and playing games. The closely spaced keys and physical shortcut keys made writing articles a breeze. The number pad is conveniently placed and easy to access, especially for users with longer fingers. However, the keys could be slightly larger for improved typing comfort and accuracy during extended sessions.
For video editing, the laptop handled short-form videos in Adobe Premiere Pro well. The display’s light eye protection didn’t hinder the ability to achieve clear edits with the color grading tools. Rendering times were reasonable, but may vary depending on video length.
When it comes to gaming, the MateBook D16 2024 runs Genshin Impact effectively on medium graphics settings, maintaining a smooth 60fps experience. Valorant runs smoothly on low graphics quality at 60Hz. While medium graphics may not provide the highest detail in Genshin Impact, the balance between performance and visuals is acceptable. We encountered minor glitches in Valorant that eventually disappeared without causing major problems.
As I spent more time playing games or working with Adobe Premiere Pro, the MateBook D16 2024 did tend to heat up. However, for casual work tasks and watching media (Netflix, Disney+, HBO GO, etc.), the laptop remained cool with minimal heat output. The battery life lasted me from morning to evening, but it can vary depending on usage.
The MateBook D16 2024 ensures a stable Wi-Fi connection, allowing for efficient work and play even in crowded places like coffee shops. Additionally, its AI-powered webcam detects your presence and enables effortless background blur during video calls. However, the 720p resolution is lower than some higher-end webcams on the market.
Value: 3/5
The MateBook D16 2024, featuring a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, 16GB RAM, and 1TB storage, is priced at PHP69,999. This might seem a bit expensive considering its specs. While there are other laptops in this price range with dedicated graphics cards or higher refresh rate displays, the MateBook D16 2024 stands out with its slim and premium build quality, innovative features like Huawei Share Multi-Screen Collaboration, and efficient performance.
Huawei also offers other configurations of the MateBook D16 2024, such as the 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 priced at PHP38,999, and the 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD with the same processor priced at PHP41,999. The 13th Gen Intel Core i5 with 6GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at PHP48,999.
