  • How To Work With This Month’s Pisces New Moon, From An Astrologer

How To Work With This Month’s Pisces New Moon, From An Astrologer

    [ad_1]

Pisces is the final zodiac sign of the astrological year, and this season will highlight themes around the subconscious, dreams, and the deepest depths of our spirituality. The new moon specifically peaks on February 20 at 2:09 a.m. EDT, and according to astrology expert Imani Quinn, this is a particularly potent new moon for setting intentions.

“This new moon is great for new beginnings and fresh starts,” she says, adding, “So think about what you want to refresh, whether that’s old goals that you’re still working on, new dreams, or relationships that maybe need some new energy given to them.”

And speaking of new energy, keep in mind that the day of the new moon, the sun, moon, and Neptune will all be in Pisces, amping up our spiritual subconsciouses and making us all feel a bit more emotionally attune. (Gotta love that watery Pisces energy!)

Plus, Venus has been in Pisces for the past few weeks, and the day of the new moon, it will be moving into Aries, the very first sign of the zodiac. Aries’ influence makes this new moon a great time for planting seeds in your relationships as we’re about to experience a breath of fresh air on the relationship front.

What Is My Sun Sign? How To Find Out + What It Really Means

    [ad_1]

Before we get into each of the 12 signs, let’s unpack what a sun sign actually is. For starters, there are 12 signs in the zodiac, each of them a constellation that resides in its own 30-degree portion of the sky. Altogether, the zodiac fills up the 360-degree chart that is Earth’s orbit around the sun.

Throughout the course of the year, the sun “moves” through each of these 30-degree sections of the sky for roughly one month. These are known as the astrological seasons. (In reality, the Earth is what’s moving, but from our vantage point, it looks like the sun is in a certain part of the sky.)

Your sun sign, then, relates to which astrological season you were born during, i.e., Taurus season (late April to late May) or Virgo season (late August to late September).

Capricorn & Sagittarius Compatibility: Love, Friendship & More

    [ad_1]

A friendship or co-worker situation might be a better fit for a Capricorn and Sagittarius compared to a romantic relationship. For one thing, we tend to have more patience and flexibility when it comes to how our friends are different from us compared to relationships, plus, the areas these two signs do align on can be advantageous in the workplace.

As Budd explains, where Sagittarius has the vision, Capricorn has the work ethic and stamina to bring it to life. As such, they’d make great teammates if they’re aligned on a particular goal or mission.

Their approaches do certainly differ, however, with Budd noting, “Capricorn might feel too limiting or not spontaneous enough or adventurous enough for Sagittarius, and Sagittarius might spin out a bit too much for Capricorn.”

Of course, this can be a good thing to create balance if done right, with Sag benefiting from more structure and Capricorn benefiting from letting loose—should they both be willing.

Ultimately for this friendship, there will need to be a blend of structured planning, mixed with having fun, for both people to be happy. The Sag shouldn’t, for example, call up Capricorn to go to the beach in five minutes. And likewise, the Capricorn shouldn’t try to make plans with Sagittarius five months out—Sag could be halfway around the world by then, for all they know.

Further, according to Budd, activities where both Sag and Capricorn can apply themselves to a pursuit will please them both, whether it’s going to the gym together, taking a strenuous hike, or working on a cool project.

  • What It Really Means To Be An Aquarius Rising + How To Thrive

What It Really Means To Be An Aquarius Rising + How To Thrive

    [ad_1]

If you’re looking for someone who’s going to pour their heart out to you or immediately jump into a committed relationship, an Aquarius rising is probably not the best bet. However, if you want to be with someone who cares about the collective and can entertain the most stimulating intellectual conversations, you might be in luck.

As Budd explains, Aquarians’ telltale emotional detachment can make dating a challenge. Again, they don’t want to be boxed-in, and that includes by other people. This can also make them take an unusual approach to dating, whether they don’t adhere to dating norms or avoid settling down all together.

“They can be a little emotionally detached and a little bit more conceptual, so trying to connect with them deeply and emotionally might feel a bit frustrating,” Budd says, adding to understand that it’s simply this sign’s nature.

Further, she notes, they probably won’t want to be with somebody who doesn’t understand their need for freedom and/or doesn’t have shared higher values. “It will bug them all the time that they can’t share these key values, and for somebody that is highly emotional, they might find it challenging that Aquarius is a bit more detached,” Budd explains.

To that end, this rising sign can also be a bit sporadic and unpredictable, even if they do commit to someone. “You’re not necessarily going to get a really consistent person,” according to Budd, who notes that unless they have other prominent, more emotive placements (like a Pisces moon, for example), that emotional bond can take a lot of time.

In terms of astrological compatibility, check out our guide to relationship astrology (aka synastry) for a full explanation of how that all works. But generally speaking, Aquarius risings will likely get along well with people who have prominent air sign placements, particularly Aquarius placements.

  • Your Zodiac Sign’s Love Language, From An Astrologer

Your Zodiac Sign’s Love Language, From An Astrologer

    [ad_1]

When water signs fall, all that joy (and pain) will last them several lifetimes. They generally require a formal commitment and emotional security and see marriage as a sanctity that will save them from loneliness and bring them stability. Even within a long-term relationship, they don’t often speak of their emotions; they expect their partner to automatically know what’s going on. Scorpios in particular communicate via intuition and feelings and expect everyone else to do the same. Feelings are their love language, so take care of them.

Not Flowing Well: Water signs have such high expectations, it can be hard to meet them. There always seems to be something that “just doesn’t feel right.” Because of that, they can remain stuck in the past and hold grudges like no other sign, not realizing we are solely responsible for our own happiness, for better or for worse, and no one else is to blame when things go awry. Water signs can be defensive and prone to overreacting if they are insecure, when they are tired, or if someone pushes their buttons. All water signs change moods on a regular basis. Try to avoid taking it personally, or you will be in for a rocky ride. Shrug it off, and soon enough, a smile will spread over their face as they sheepishly reach out to hold you and make amends. Don’t expect a “sorry” or a meaningful conversation, though. They expect you to know it had nothing to do with you personally and they didn’t mean it.

Flowing Well: Water signs are among the best caretakers of their partners and families. If they have a sense of humor, and most do, their playfulness and sense of fun are second to none. They appreciate the small gestures, so your efforts won’t go unnoticed. They can be shy at first, which is intriguing to most other signs, but then allow you into the gentle, creative, and loving beings they are.

  • How To Work With February’s Full Moon In Leo, From An Astrologer

How To Work With February’s Full Moon In Leo, From An Astrologer

    [ad_1]

February’s full moon falls in the sign of Leo and will peak on Sunday, February 5 around 1:30 p.m. EDT. And the good news is, we’re all going to be feeling a confidence boost from this fiery energy.

As Quinn explains, not only are we fresh out of retrograde season (with every planet moving direct until spring!), but Leo itself is a sign known for expression, creativity, and shining bright. “So it’s kind of like this fresh restart, and a time to take full advantage of the planets giving us the green light to move forward,” she explains, adding, “And we really haven’t had this kind of similar moment since 2019—through most of the pandemic, we’ve been in a lot of retrograde turmoil.”

Beyond that, she explains, while full moons are a time to let go of things and surrender, Leo’s influence on this moon is “allowing us to not be afraid to let go of the things that aren’t working for us, so that we can surrender to the new flow that we’re in.”

Being a sign that tends to have a flare for theatrics, however, Quinn does caution that a Leo full moon can amp up drama. “We might be experiencing some drama within our lives, especially because of Venus and Mars’ placements as well,” she explains.

Venus is in Pisces, which adds a dreamy quality to our love lives and creativity, while Mars in Gemini brings some hot-and-cold dynamics to how we’re handling our own energy and actions. “With those added elements, it can give a little bit of a theatrical presence for us,” Quinn says.

  • These Are the Most Compatible Zodiac Signs

These Are the Most Compatible Zodiac Signs

    [ad_1]

What makes two people compatible, astrologically speaking? *Sinks back in chair* How much time do you have?

The truth is, any two zodiac signs can make a long-term relationship work if you’re each willing to learn what makes the other tick. Of course, that’s easier said than done when you’ve been burned by your third consecutive Scorpio or let another Aries flip from worshipping you to treating you like their unpaid intern.

We’re not singling any signs out here. They all have their shining traits and red flags. (Read on for this.) The question is, should you tap out or stay in the game? A helpful compatibility tool is comparing your elements. The zodiac has four of them—fire, earth, water, and air—and each of the 12 signs falls into one of these categories.

Astrostyle Publishing Supercouple: Astrology Secrets for a Sexy, Soulful and Satisfying Relationship with Any Zodiac Sign

Astrostyle Publishing Supercouple: Astrology Secrets for a Sexy, Soulful and Satisfying Relationship with Any Zodiac Sign

    Fire Signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

    Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

    Air Signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

    Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Fire signs are hot, passionate, exciting, and creative, but they can burn through things quickly (see: money, romantic partners, hobbies).

Earth signs are grounded, steady, and process-driven, but in their desire to plant deep roots, they can also get stuck in place.

Air signs are breezy, social, and move around quickly, yet in their eagerness to chase the latest shiny thing, they can be unstable and hard to pin down.

Water signs are fluid, emotional, and deep, which is all good until they get in a mood and go icy, or vaporize like a ghost and drop out of communication for days.

If you’re newer to astrology, start by comparing your Sun signs, a.k.a. your main zodiac sign. For example, “I’m a Cancer (water), they’re a Capricorn (earth)…what’s the deal with that?”

As you learn more about astrology, you can take the plunge and compare your entire birth charts. Does one of you have a ton of planets in earth signs while the other is mostly fire? That’s another layer of helpful information. Without further ado, read on for what signs go especially well together, and vice versa.

    A Guide to Horoscope Compatibility

    Fire + Fire

There’s copious heat when a pair of passionate fire signs come together. Since you’re both adventure junkies who crave novelty, this combo guarantees some legendary moments. (RV trip to Coachella on the second date? Why not?) You’ll inspire each other to take chances and go after your loftiest goals. Traveling together is epic! But with your fast-paced lifestyles and ever-changing interests, when can you make time for each other? Burnout is a real issue with your twin ambitions. Fire signs thrive on attention, but neither of you will be able to deliver that on demand. When temperatures blaze, things can get ugly fast.

    Fire + Earth

Passionate fire signs and steady, pragmatic earth signs are a productive pair who might even connect through work. (Cue Virgo Bey and Sagittarius Jay meeting at the studio to record “Crazy in Love.”) Encouraging earth signs provide the fuel for fire to burn brighter. Fire heats up reluctant earth and helps get them out of their stubborn ruts. But here’s where conflict arises: fire signs love the thrill of novelty, while earth signs prefer the familiarity of tradition. Figuring out when to have dinner, much less kids, can be an endless tug of war. Fire’s nonstop need for discovery can exhaust earth. In turn, earth’s rootedness can make a nomadic fire sign feel trapped.

    Fire + Air

BFFs with benefits? Sounds like an ideal relationship model for fire and air signs, the most free-spirited elements in the zodiac. Cheeky air signs adore fire’s big personalities, while fire appreciates air’s cultivated wit. Together, you’re the life of any party, not to mention quite the smokeshow with your combined style and charisma. When air fans fire’s flames, everything gets brighter and hotter fast! This can be a double-edged sword, however. The blazes must be contained (or at least directed), so these elements can channel their co-created magic into something worthwhile, like, say, creating an actual relationship. Fire’s need for “more, more, more” can suck all the oxygen out of the relationship. When air blows like the wind, fire can feel neglected and abandoned. Ouch!

    Fire + Water

There’s no telling what will happen when action-oriented fire signs unite with emotionally driven water signs. There’s certainly a mood of “opposites attract” in these pairings, but if you can find your respective lanes—and support each other through your wildly divergent processes—this combination can be downright steamy. Playfully optimistic fire draws water out of their gloomy spells. When fire starts spreading in too many directions, nurturing, intuitive water can tamp down the excess blazes. Feelings, however, can run the gamut from spicy to icy. Fire signs have hot tempers and water signs are temperamental, thus you may constantly misinterpret each other’s motives. Watch out for guilt trips, disappearing acts, and passive-aggressive head games.

    Earth + Earth

Welcome to Stability Central. It’s not hard for two traditional earth signs to find common ground. And when your core values align, pure magic erupts. Earth rules the material realm, so things like family and financial flow are priorities for you both. As natural providers, you both relish being emotional rocks for your people. But if your relationship gets weighed down by responsibility, romance can fade. Lean into your scheduling superpowers and plan regular date nights. A five-course tasting menu with wine pairings, nature hikes, and outdoor concerts are sure-fire resets. Earthy sensuality is big here. A few light touches may be all it takes to get you both in the mood, but why stop there?

    Earth + Air

Dust in the wind? Centered earth signs and mercurial air signs can throw each other off balance at first—which is probably why you’re so obsessed with each other. Air signs are fun-loving and witty, which can snap earth out of their stick-in-the-mud ruts. Meanwhile, sensual earth signs can get air to stop and smell the roses, bringing them into their bodies and out of their heads. The main issue is that these signs live in two different “time zones.” Earth signs are disciplined and routine-driven, preferring time-tested traditions from the past. Curious, variety-loving air signs are obsessed with the future, constantly updating and upgrading. The trick is to meet each other in the present moment and cultivate this fascinating relationship one day at a time.

    Earth + Water

Like seafoam lapping on the sandy shore, there’s a natural ebb and flow between these two elements. Sensible, secure earth signs create a safe container that allow water signs to flow freely. With their emotional sensitivity, shapeshifting water signs lure status-conscious earth signs into deeper terrain, expanding their creativity and spirituality. Home life can be so blissful for earth and water that you wind up isolating in your insular world. While family and mutual friends take top billing, cultivate at least a few separate interests and friendships so your dependable relationship doesn’t skew codependent.

    Air + Air

The air-on-air combo kicks off like a gentle breeze, but hang on to your hat. Your relationship might spin into a hurricane at warp speed. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Sometimes life needs a shake-up. You two absolutely get each other in motion, which is a preferred state for free-flowing air signs. Before you know it, you’re signing up for snowboarding lessons, then Airbnb-ing your apartments while you travel as digital nomads for a year. Conversation is the aphrodisiac for sapiosexual air signs, but remember that touching can be as pleasurable as talking and texting. As inherently social creatures, troubles may arise if you don’t find an overlap in your extracurricular interests and friend groups.

    Air + Water

Although you’re as different as they come, cerebral air signs and empathic water signs can definitely make some waves. When water is drowning in a mood, breezy air signs are a breath of fresh air. Meanwhile, soulful water reminds air to come down from the clouds and actually feel. Regulating the need for attention and affection can be challenging in these matchups. Water signs may feel ignored (or legit abandoned) while air signs endlessly text their 1,001 friends or show up late for a family dinner because they were having “the most amazing conversation” with a relative stranger. Solution-driven air signs struggle to understand water’s mood cycles, which span the range from placid to icy to stormy and back again…and again.

    Water + Water

There’s no shortage of nurturing when two soulful, sensitive water signs sync up. At last, you’ve found someone who understands your big feelings and fluctuating moods. But this pairing isn’t necessarily a placid one. Your emotional current changes so frequently that you can flood each other with feelings, ice each other out, or even vaporize when the temperature gets too hot to handle. There’s no denying that water sign relationships run deep. As such, it’s easy to screen out the rest of the world. But don’t! When the going gets tough, you’ll both benefit from the support of outside friends, family, and yes, therapists who can help you cool down instead of impulsively reacting.

Why Every Planet Moving Direct Is A Big Astrological Deal

    [ad_1]

OK, so there’s no planets in retrograde for the next few months. But why does that actually matter for us? For one thing, it means that the themes and areas of life each of the planets govern will be moving ahead full steam, as opposed to thwarting our progress.

And according to the AstroTwins, we can also thank Uranus moving direct through Taurus for a bit of a material boost. “Bottlenecked plans with work and money could pick up speed again—stay on your toes!” the twins note.

Not only that, but risk-taker Jupiter (the planet of expansion, luck, and abundance) is in Aries until May 16. As the twins explain, this means you have all the planetary permission you need to step on the gas.

So, if your New Year’s resolutions didn’t get off on the right foot, have no fear. In fact, the twins say that the first few weeks of January were better suited for evaluating your options anyway. Once all the planets are direct, according to them, “You can confidently choose your 2023 direction and go.”

How To Work With This Week’s Last Quarter Moon In Libra

    [ad_1]

The month’s upcoming quarter moon falls on January 14 at 9:10 pm EDT. As you may know, new moons are a time to set intentions and start on projects or goals, while full moons are a time to release what’s not working. With any last quarter moon between the full and new, then, the emphasis is still on releasing, so you have a clean slate by the time the new moon arrives. (Which happens on January 21, BTW.)

And in the case of this month’s last quarter moon, it will fall in Libra, a sign all about balance, peace, and justice. Meanwhile, the sun is moving through its last leg of Capricorn season already, and Mercury is retrograde (until January 18) in Capricorn as well.

Luckily, Mars is finally out of its retrograde period—and in the sign of Gemini—forming a harmonious trine with the moon in fellow air sign, Libra. With Mars direct once more, we may have a newly emboldened urge to tackle what we’ve been putting off. While the red planet was retrograde, things were definitely moving slow, and you may notice your energy and motivation coming back full force.

The planet of love and beauty, Venus, will also be trining the moon as it falls in air sign Aquarius, which is favorable energy for smooth relationship sailing—just keep in mind that Mercury is still retrograde for just a bit longer, so we do still want to think before we speak and double check everything.

Why Astrologers Want You To Be Patient With Your 2023 Resolutions

    [ad_1]

We’re barely a week into the new year, and if you’ve already felt like your resolutions didn’t get off on the right foot, the AstroTwins say could very well be because Mercury and Mars are both retrograde. These heavy-hitter planets influence everything from our communication, to our organization, to how we take action—and they’re basically scrambled right now.

As the twins recently wrote for mbg, “From December 29, 2022, to January 18, 2023, [Mercury is] backing up through Capricorn. As we attempt to set our resolutions, the cosmic trickster reminds us of the adage, ‘Man plans, God laughs.’” And with Mars in retrograde for roughly another week, they add, it’s only adding more fuel to this fraught fire.

In other words, the stars aren’t exactly aligned for optimal advancement or tackling your resolutions, and as such, the twins recommend waiting until the new moon in Aquarius on January 21 (which will be a supermoon, BTW) to really start making headway.

Why Leos Should Watch Our For Relationship Issues In 2023

    [ad_1]

While this may not be the easiest year for your relationships, Leo, that doesn’t mean it all has to be doom and gloom. As the twins explain, those aforementioned issues around power, trust, and control may rear their heads—but sorting through these issues before leaping into binding relationships will save your time, energy, and heart in the long run.

“While you’re a mighty force of nature, you can’t do other people’s emotional work for them,” the twins write, adding that instead of micromanaging, “focus on your own interests—cultivate a new hobby, start a podcast, or draft a few chapters of your memoir.”

And during Venus retrograde this summer especially, they emphasize the importance of taking things slow. “Confusion may not dissipate until after October 8, so go easy on yourself—and everyone around you,” the twins say.

The good news is, where your love life may run up against some difficulty, other areas of your life can thrive this year. Namely, according to the twins, Leo is going to see the most luck on the career and travel front. So if dating and relationships are making you want to bury your head in the sand, consider it an opportunity to focus on your career or take an epic solo vacation.

As the AstroTwins previously wrote for mbg, Cancer itself is ruled by the moon, so a Cancer full moon will indeed feel extra intense. To that end, they say, it represents the waters of the womb, and so water rituals would be a fitting way to embody this energy. “Take a bubble bath, honor the women in your life, and most importantly, nurture yourself,” they add.

And speaking of bubble baths, you could take it a step further and use your bath to connect with the water element and the moon even further. “Connect with lunar energy by submerging yourself in water, draw a healing bath around the time of the full moon, and gather your favorite salts, crystals, and candles,” the twins suggest.

As you bathe, they recommend saying your full moon intentions aloud while you’re relaxing in the tub, and visualizing the full moon restoring every cell of your body. And don’t forget to make some moon water if that’s something you’re into!

Lastly, as one of the potentially loneliest full moons of the year, the twins note that January’s full moon, also known as the “Wolf Moon,” is a great time to “hang out with your own ‘wolf pack’ and let out a collective howl.” (Full moon circle, anyone?)

January 2023 Monthly Horoscope From The Astrotwins

    [ad_1]

The Sun shifts into communal and social Aquarius on the 20th, followed swiftly by the year’s first new moon (also in Aquarius) on January 21.

This also happens to be Lunar New Year’s Eve, when we welcome the compassionate and abundant Water Rabbit and bid adieu to the wild, unpredictable Water Tiger who prowled the skies since February 1, 2022. So things will get (bunny) hopping quickly!

On January 22, trailblazing Uranus wakes up from its five-month retrograde that started on August 24, rocketing forward in terrestrial Taurus. Bottlenecked plans with work and money could pick up speed again—stay on your toes!

Stargazers, start your engines: Once Uranus is direct there will be no retrograde planets in the skies for a couple of months. With risk-taker Jupiter, the planet of growth and luck, in daring Aries until May 16, you’ve got planetary permission to step on the gas. There’s a solid case for using the first three weeks of January to evaluate your options. Then, you can confidently choose your 2023 direction and go!
