    I Found Nordstrom's Best-Selling Basics, so Now I'm Spilling

    [ad_1]

We are die-hard Nordstrom fans over here—and by “we,” I mean “me.” It’s where I find myself time and time again after I’ve done a closet clean-out and need to restock with the best basic pieces. Beyond its wide selection including everything from Ugg to Madewell to Skims, it’s one of the few places I can go to grab everything I need—be it undergarments, a jacket, boots, or anything in between—and not leave with a completely depleted wallet.

In case you don’t know where to start, I went ahead and pulled the best-selling basics that are proven crowd favorites. Nordstrom has one of the best sweater offerings I’ve seen. (Seriously, its buyers know what they’re doing.) You quite literally don’t need to look anywhere else for winter boots, and I could go on and on about its puffer coats. Since I’d rather show you instead, here’s a quick roundup of all that and more. I’m on my way to add a few of these to my cart right along with you.

  • My Friend Can Spend $150 Nordstrom—I Suggested These Expensive-Looking Items

My Friend Can Spend $150 Nordstrom—I Suggested These Expensive-Looking Items

    [ad_1]

My friend told me she has a $150 gift card to Nordstrom, but she hasn’t spent it because she doesn’t know what to get. She’s an intentional shopper, meaning she likes to plan out her purchases and typically buys high-quality pieces she knows she can get a lot of good wear out of. She’s also partial to the quiet luxury aesthetic, generally preferring pieces that are well-made and understated in design. While $150 is a considerable amount of money, given the fact that a pair of designer jeans typically goes for upwards of $200, finding items that fit her qualifications posed a bit of a challenge.

Nordstrom offers a wide array of brands and styles, so when shopping according to a specific budget and taste, it’s really about doing the work to find your needle in a haystack. Since my friend likes expensive-looking pieces, I took it upon myself to scour Nordstrom’s site to find the best selection of items that look like you paid a pretty penny, but in actuality, are all under $150 – in the name of friendship, of course. I even managed to find a couple of pieces from in-demand brands (I’m talking about you, rosette top from Reformation). However, there’s also a $59 Nordstrom-brand knit that if you told me was Vince, I’d believe you (truthfully, I can’t stop thinking about it).

If you’re like my friend and like luxury pieces, but not luxury prices, check out my shopping list, below. I’d bet your closet (and bank account) will be very pleased with my finds.

The $160 Uggs I'm Buying to Mimic Kelly Rutherford's Viral Winter Outfits

    [ad_1]

Apparently, I’m not the only one who’s recently become a super fan. “Out of all the original Gossip Girl cast members, I don’t know why I didn’t think to follow Kelly more closely,” Brooklyn-based freelance fashion editor Cortne Bonilla explains over DM. “A few weeks ago, I came across her Instagram profile after one of my favorites brands, By Malene Birger, reposted an ensemble of hers,” she continues. “In the age of mass girlhood, it’s so refreshing to see a woman of a certain age embracing personal style, experimentation, and emerging brands.” For her, it’s Rutherford’s very personal sense of style that drew her in. “Kelly doesn’t dress for a trend or age, she dresses for herself—you can tell by her mixture of the old and the new, the classic and the experimental.”

On her feed, one will find a mix of just-released outerwear from the aforementioned Danish brand that fashion girls regularly obsess over to casual yet luxe knitwear. Most of her looks are colored in a palette of quiet-luxury neutrals, from camel to ivory, with touches of navy, black, and brown for good measure. Every article of clothing is glamorous yet nonchalant, making each of the actress’s outfits more than worth copying.

The 30 Best Long Coats From Shopbop, Nordstrom, and J.Crew

    [ad_1]

Each winter brings an of-the-moment coat trend that comes to define the season. Years past have brought us statement puffers, scarf coats, and shearling styles, but this year is all about the maxi hemline. Designers like Saint Laurent and Max Mara sent models down the F/W 23 runways in gorgeous floor-skimming coats of various colors and fabrics, so we knew this was one to watch. And now that the season has arrived, extra-long coats are absolutely dominating the current trend cycle

I took a browse through some of my go-to retailers in search of the standout maxi coats and found that Shopbop, Nordstrom, and J.Crew currently have the best assortment. Whether you’re looking for a modern trench or statement-making leather, these retailers have great options at a wide range of price points. From boxy shoulders to structured silhouettes and classic tailoring, below I’m highlighting the best long coats for winter that feel both right on trend and perfectly timeless.

  • Brilliant Basics: Investing in Chic Wardrobe Staples—7 to Start

Brilliant Basics: Investing in Chic Wardrobe Staples—7 to Start

    [ad_1]

Let me start by saying that I’m an advocate for investing more in your elevated, everyday basics than your fancy special occasion things. You get to wear them all the time! They become the things that really form your style, much more so than what you dress up in to wear to some wedding.

I’m talking about cool flats that are so comfortable that you never wonder if you should wear them. The sweater you’ll reach for every single time you’re not sure what to wear. A chic tote that fits the everyday things you schlep around with, and makes your outfit rather than breaking it. Versatility and wearability are what makes pieces so worth investing in—if that’s what you’re into, I’m sharing excellent more affordable options as well as designer styles, so go ahead and take your pick of these hard-working, versatile staples that really are doing the most.

  • The 6 Best Basics for Layering Under Your Winter Coat

The 6 Best Basics for Layering Under Your Winter Coat

    [ad_1]

Layering season is upon us! Now, we all know that good layering is an art form, and as someone who didn’t grow up in cold weather, I’ve had to learn through trial and error over the years. What you choose to wear under your winter coat makes a world of difference in both style and comfort. Anything too bulky underneath makes me feel like the Michelin Man, yet too few layers and I’m freezing. The correct base can make or break your day.

So I’ve taken styling notes from my East Coast friends and all the cool fashion people I follow on Instagram to help me identify the outfit formulas that always work. I’ve clocked a few key basics that layer perfectly underneath coats of all kinds, making them the building blocks of an ideal winter outfit. Worn on their own or layered together, these six basics are the key to unlocking effortless winter layering. From cozy sweaters to turtleneck bodysuits, below are the six best basics to wear under a winter coat.

Kendall Jenner Wore the #1 Coat Trend for 2024 Twice in One Week

    [ad_1]

Not just once, but twice in a single week, Kendall Jenner has been spotted wearing outerwear with cape-like details. Last week, during a shopping trip in West Hollywood, she wore a leather jacket with an attachable scarf from Phoebe Philo, styled with white jeans, a boxy bag, and kitten heels. Just a few days later, Jenner wore a wrapped leather trench coat that debuted on the Bottega Veneta S/S 24 runway with sheer tights and pumps. Other fashion insiders and celebs, including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, have been spotted wearing the silhouette—solidifying it as a key outerwear trend to know for 2024.

Over the last few years, we have seen the rise of blanket coats with built-in scarves from brands including Toteme and Tove. The more heavily-draped, cape-like versions endorsed by Bottega Veneta and Phoebe Philo are pushing the trend forward and we’re already expecting it to be the #1 coat trend in 2024. Ahead, see how celebs are wearing the cape outerwear trend and shop pieces inspired by them.

Sydney Sweeney Made Leggings Look Trendy at the Airport With This It Item

The promotional tour in NYC this week for the new film Anyone But You was a Sydney Sweeney fashion show, start to finish. She and stylist Molly Dickson came up with more than a dozen incredible looks for Sweeney’s press appearances, but it’s her legging outfit to fly from NYC to LAX yesterday that has my attention at the moment.

I always like to see how celebrities style leggings years after they became “trendy”. Sweeney, for one, opted to pair her black leggings for the flight with a designer It item: Prada’s cropped puffer. Prada and Miu Miu puffer jackets are as covetable as puffer jackets get, and if I were to spend over $2k on a puffer, I’d definitely choose one of these. Sweeney completed the trendy travel outfit with a pair of white crew socks and white sneakers.

Winter Streetwear for Women: Outfits That Are Cool, Comfy, and Stylish

    [ad_1]

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will show you the key elements of winter streetwear, with affordable winter street-style outfits and styling tips.

    Winter Streetwear Outfit Ideas

Want to look cool but stay warm this winter? We’ve got you covered with our guide to winter streetwear fashion for women.

Streetwear style is all about laid-back dressing that emphasizes comfort while incorporating cool, fashion-forward style details. It can range from urban to edgy to West Coast skater, often featuring oversized fits, eye-catching graphic prints, and lots of layering.

So, get ready to give your wardrobe a winter update with these key street style pieces, from statement outerwear to must-have accessories, plus how to style and layer your clothing for maximum impact (and warmth).

Key Elements of Winter Streetwear for Women

Let’s break down some of the key elements of winter streetwear. These are the fabrics, textures, and styles to include when putting together a winter streetwear outfit that’s going to look on-trend while keeping you warm in the cold.

    Faux Fur, Shearling, and Fleece

Get cozy in some fuzzy fabrics like fleece, faux fur, and/or faux shearling. Not only are wearing these soft, cozy materials a great way to stay warm, but they are also a winter trend that looks super stylish.

From jackets with faux fur lining (like aviator jackets) to full-on sherpa jackets (how cozy does the one above look?), and even fuzzy accessories like gloves and hats, there are so many cute ways to incorporate these materials into your winter outfits.

    Faux Leather

If you’re going for an edgy, cool vibe, you’ll want to invest in faux leather pieces. Faux leather (or genuine leather) is a heavier material that works well in cold weather while also making an eye-catching statement.

For a streetwear look, try some faux leather cargo pants with a loose fit paired with a knit top, chunky boots or sneakers, and a puffer jacket. These pants also work with heeled booties and a going-out top for a nighttime look.

Faux leather jackets, especially ones with faux fur lining, are another favorite for the season. An oversized faux leather aviator jacket is an ultra-stylish way to warm up this winter and will make any outfit look instantly cooler.

    Knitwear

Knitwear in the wintertime? *Groundbreaking.* But seriously, knitwear is a key element of winter style, including streetwear style — you just have to look out for pieces that have a more relaxed vibe, whether with an oversized fit or funky print.

Oversized sweaters are a must-have that you can wear with jeans, cargo pants, faux leather pants, and more. And while just about anything goes, consider sweaters in bright colors and/or with an interesting pattern, like swirls, geometric shapes, or a graphic print for extra flair.

An even more unique way to incorporate knitwear into your winter streetwear outfits is with pieces that aren’t sweaters. For example, these knit cargo pants and matching knit hoodie are items that usually aren’t made from a sweater-like fabric, so it makes them that much cooler (and warmer).

    Corduroy

You may not instantly equate corduroy with street style, but think again! This heavier material, which was once reserved for boho and vintage-inspired looks, has made its way into the streetwear scene and is a prime choice for warming up in the wintertime.

A pair of loose-fitting corduroy cargo pants with oversized pockets have a relaxed look that pairs perfectly with some cool sneakers or clogs, while a corduroy puffer jacket with a short length puts a fresh spin on a wintertime classic.

    Color Palettes and Patterns

Anything goes when it comes to streetwear! You can just as easily wear a dark, monochromatic look as you could a bold, colorful look — there are no rules. I also love a neutral look with a pop of color, which can be in the form of eye-catching sneakers or an oversized scarf.

As for patterns, think outside the box: checkerboards, swirls, psychedelic prints, and any graphic designs are going to lend your winter outfits an eye-catching element.

Winter Essentials: Must-Haves for Your Winter Wardrobe

Ready to build your winter streetwear wardrobe? These are the essential pieces to look for — they will keep you warm while looking cool. Try these winter streetwear outfit combinations for a stylish take on winter dressing.

    Puffer Jackets

IDK about you, but I practically live in puffer jackets during the wintertime. They are one of the warmest options when it comes to outerwear, and with so many fashionable options, there’s a puffer for any style or outfit.

You can’t go wrong with a short or cropped puffer jacket, especially with jeans and sneakers as a daily look. Another alternative? A long puffer jacket. It’s the ultimate way to beat the cold, and it looks ultra cool with sweatpants and chunky boots.

    Long Coats

PLT Long Trench CoatPLT Long Trench Coat

There’s something about long coats that just make you look chic. Whether you wear a trench coat or a dad coat, long coats that have a structured design give you an instantly polished appearance that is sure to elevate your winter streetwear looks — even laid-back outfits with sneakers.

Long coats are also a perfect pick for layered looks; wear one with a sweater layered over a longer shirt, along with cargo pants or wide-leg pants for a fashion-forward effect.

    Fleece Jacket

Pacsun Navy Fleece JacketPacsun Navy Fleece Jacket

There can often be an overlap between streetwear and athleisure, so it’s no surprise that fleece jackets with an athletic vibe are staples for both aesthetics.

Whether you style them with leggings for a true athletic look or opt for a street-style vibe by styling them with parachute or cargo pants, these jackets are as cozy as they are cool.

    Fleece Sweatpants & Sweatshirts

It doesn’t get much comfier or cozier than some fleece sweats. Whether you opt for a sweatsuit with a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants or wear the pieces separately, you are sure to feel super snug. Luckily, sweats are a mainstay in streetwear, so you won’t have to sacrifice comfort for style this season.

Be sure to opt for sweatshirts and sweatpants with oversized fits, which have more of a streetwear feel (plus, they’re extra comfortable).

    Loose-Fitting Jeans

Baggy and loose-fitting jeans are the ultimate bottoms for streetwear outfits, especially in the wintertime; these jeans pair especially well with sneakers, which are a streetwear staple.

You can even layer tights or leggings underneath your jeans to stay extra warm during the winter. Be sure to consider heavy denim for added warmth, too.

Coated jeans are another great option: these have a similar look to faux leather pants but are a bit more casual. A pair with a baggy fit will look ultra-cool styled with sneakers and a cropped puffer jacket, as shown above.

    Cargo Pants

    Tilly's Cargo PantsTilly's Cargo Pants

The other style of pants that rivals baggy jeans when it comes to streetwear? Cargo pants, of course!

These feature a similar baggy fit but with added pockets — and who doesn’t love pockets?! These casual pants are ideal for everyday wear, whether with sneakers, boots, clogs, and more.

Like with baggy jeans, you can consider layering tights or leggings under your cargos for extra warmth.

    Trendy Winter Accessories

To put together the perfect winter streetwear look, you can’t forget about winter accessories that are going to elevate your ensemble — and keep you extra warm.

A knit beanie hat is an absolute must-have, and IMO, you can never have enough of these! From solid-color beanies to beanies with graphic prints or bold logos, these are going to help you retain heat while also giving you a laid-back vibe.

An oversized scarf is another winter streetwear staple, especially one with a colorful plaid print. These warm, fuzzy accessories are a great way to add a pop of color and print to your winter outfits.

    Sneakers

Journeys New Balance SneakersJourneys New Balance Sneakers

Streetwear and sneakers go hand-in-hand. And what’s not to like about shoes that are actually comfortable to wear?!

There are so many trendy sneaker styles to choose from this season, all of which will add major flair to your looks. Some of my favorite streetwear-style sneakers to consider are Adidas Samba and Gazelle sneakers, New Balance 530 (above) and 9060 sneakers, and Nike Jordan and Dunks.

In the wintertime, don’t forget to pair your sneakers with thicker socks for added warmth.

    Chunky Boots

    https://www.asos.com/us/topshop/topshop-louise-chunky-sock-ankle-boot-in-black/prd/204979060#colourWayId-204979071https://www.asos.com/us/topshop/topshop-louise-chunky-sock-ankle-boot-in-black/prd/204979060#colourWayId-204979071

While I love sneakers, boots are bound to keep your feet that much warmer in the wintertime. For a streetwear vibe, go for boots that have chunky lug soles, which give boots a more rugged, laid-back feel. Any color works, but you can never go wrong with some classic black boots that tend to be the most versatile, especially with a short heel that you can wear day or night.

5 Winter Basics to Own If You Refuse to Follow Trends

    [ad_1]

If, like me, you’ve been reading Who What Wear religiously for the past decade, then you know that nothing is boring about great basics. Just a bit shy of “uniform dressing,” without committing completely to a capsule wardrobe, a closet full of just a few winter basics is all that’s needed to get through the season in style.

That’s not to say you need to wear them all at once—in fact, we suggest mixing at matching these key winter basics with whatever you already have on hand. That’s the point, right? Great basics go with everything and can be worn regularly without compromising your personal style

This season, we recommend shopping for (and perhaps investing in) these five simple wardrobe staples: a camel-colored coat, classic black blazer, chunky white knit sweater, straight-leg jeans, and Chelsea boots. That’s it! And, if you already have a few of these items at your disposal, great — do some quick “girl math” and use that savings to invest in a top-quality piece that you’ll be happy about wearing for years to come. Ready? Let’s shop.

  • The One Winter Outfit Combo Every Royal Owns

The One Winter Outfit Combo Every Royal Owns

    [ad_1]

When you’re a royal, there are a lot of fashion rules to follow. And, although restrictive, it is for good reason. From the color of your nail polish to the length of your tennis shorts, every element of an outfit is photographed and then scrutinized by the public. So it’s no surprise that several of the most fashionable members of royal families around the globe have come up with a few styling tricks that adhere to attire guidelines without compromising personal style preferences. The easiest and most frequently observed formula is monochrome dressing, and in the winter, that means sporting shades of brown from head to toe, including outerwear.

During the fall and winter months, people tend to gravitate toward darker hues like black, navy, and gray. But royals, for better or worse, need to stand out in crowds and photograph well, with and without a jacket. That’s why almost every royal has been spotted in a camel-colored wool coat when stepping out for events in the cold. It’s a neutral shade and fabric that pairs well with browns across the spectrum and materials including cashmere, silk, and cotton.

Eager to test out this foolproof royal outfit combo for yourself? Start with the coat—you need just one—then stock up on dresses, boots, and pumps to mix and match throughout the season. It’s the easiest way to create a mini capsule collection that’s fit for a queen.

I’ve mentioned before that I don’t love dressing for winter, but as I find more and more chic winter outfit ideas, I’m slowly changing my tune and warming up to the idea that dressing for winter may not be as bad as I’m making it out to be. On my latest deep dive through IG, I found six winter outfits that are easy to re-create and incorporate items I already have in my wardrobe.

Keep scrolling to see the six on-trend outfits I’m bookmarking to re-create this season.
