I Should Gate-Keep This Brand On Nordy, But I Won’t—23 Finds You’ll Thank Me For

    [ad_1]

Given how many stories we publish daily, it’s essential that we as editors know our way around all of the big retailers. We each have our own unique time-saving techniques for filtering through thousands of items, allowing us to produce all of the content you see on Who What Wear. My personal go-to method for sifting through product-packed online stores is to focus on brand discovery and then hit up all of the chicest, most relevant brands first. That way, I never have to go through tens of thousands of options. I only really see what I already know will be good.

For a store like Nordstrom, this is especially critical since new items are being added all the time and the sheer volume of pieces is astronomical. The one brand I always type into the search bar first when I’m writing anything having to do with luxe-in-looks-but-not-in-price finds? Sophie Rue. Somehow, the brand, which is also sold on Revolve and keeps prices mostly between $80 and $400, doesn’t get a ton of attention. Hopefully, after you scroll through all of the newest items on Nordstrom from the brand, that won’t be the case any longer.

A Sale At Saks? Say Less—28 Finds I Was Shocked to Find In the Discount Bin

    [ad_1]

At the end of a long work week, there really isn’t anything better in my opinion than sitting down and scrolling through a sale that you really don’t have to scroll that far into to find some not-so-hidden gems. Well, apparently Saks read my mind, because right now, the luxury retailer’s having a flash sale, and unlike so many sales that set expectations sky high but don’t totally deliver, this one houses hit after hit.

The markdown event, called the Fashion Flash sale, consists of designer and contemporary items from brands like Helmut Lang and Tory Burch as well as Jacquemus, Proenza Schouler, and Khaite, all of which are up to 70% off right now through Sunday. They weren’t kidding when they called it a flash sale. So, to save you time but still ensure that you get the opportunity to shop off the work week, I went ahead and rounded up 28 of the best picks from the bunch. Scroll down to see what made the cut.

  • I Just Found 19 Off-the-Shoulder Tops to Mimic Meghan Markle’s—Thank Me Later

I Just Found 19 Off-the-Shoulder Tops to Mimic Meghan Markle’s—Thank Me Later

    [ad_1]

There aren’t a lot of clothing items that if you put them on Meghan Markle, won’t look incredible. Really, I’m not sure if there are any at all. But, as someone who’s studied her style from the Suits days until now, I can tell you that there are some pieces that stand out amongst the rest as being especially chic and memorable. One such example just made its debut this week, and already, I’m convinced that it’ll go down as the centerpiece of one of the humanitarian’s best outfits yet.

On Tuesday, Markle, along with Prince Harry, spoke on a panel in New York City called the Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age, which The Archewell Foundation, the couple’s charitable organization, put on with Project Healthy Minds for World Mental Health Day. For the speaking engagement, Markle chose one of the minimalist shades that she wears best, ivory, in the form of an off-the-shoulder Altuzarra blazer that she then paired with matching tailored trousers from the NYC-based brand and her go-to Aquazzura pumps.

Across fashion, off-the-shoulder silhouettes have been gaining momentum as the chic older sister to a basic tee, tank, or in this case, blazer. It adds a touch of sexiness while also maintaining an undeniable air of elegance and sophistication. So, it’s really no wonder why I and everyone else I’ve shown the below photo to have been equally obsessed with Markle’s look for the event. Sadly, her exact Altuzarra blazer already sold out (big surprise there), but there are plenty of equally alluring alternatives on the market, all of which are conveniently located below. Scroll down to see Markle’s look for the panel and shop the off-the-shoulder trend that’s taking over fashion right now.

  • How to Style the Jeans Alt That Fashion People Will Be Wearing 24/7 This Fall

How to Style the Jeans Alt That Fashion People Will Be Wearing 24/7 This Fall

    [ad_1]

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration centered around current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

Jeans for fall? Groundbreaking. Every time September rolls around, we all run to grab our denim that’s been gathering dust in the heat of summer, replaced by cutoffs (or, if you’re me, hot pants). This year, I’ve found myself only strolling over to my jeans, not sprinting like usual. Instead, I’ve been grabbing for another pant silhouette: track pants.

Following sightings in collections by Wales Bonner, Tibi, Miu Miu, and more designers that are all bringing a sense of chicness and stylization to the sporty aesthetic, track pants are quickly becoming the bottoms to wear when jeans just won’t cut it. They’re best when paired with unexpected tops and footwear, and the key to styling your pairs is doing so in an entirely non-fitness fashion and acting as if they were any other trousers that you’d style alongside kitten heels, statement handbags, and tops that don’t include a built-in sports bra.

To help in the styling department, find a handful of ways to wear fashion’s new favorite denim replacement below.

*The* Fashion Collab of 2023 Is Here—9 Items I’m Buying Before It’s Too Late

    [ad_1]

If I’ve learned anything in my six years as a fashion editor, it’s just how much those in the industry lust over a good collaboration—emphasis on the word good. The concept of two brands coming together is nothing new, and in and of itself, nothing exciting. But when one partnership comes along that checks of every box—it feels authentic, there’s a reason it exists apart from that it can, and the clothes are chic—it stops everyone in their tracks. And then, it sends them scrambling to for their wallets.

Such is exactly what happened when, midway through August, Banana Republic—a brand that’s having a moment all on its own—announced an upcoming team-up with one of New York City’s buzziest design talents, Peter Do. Do, who’s namesake label has become one of the New York fashion scene’s favorites for timeless yet modern and cool wardrobe staples, is on the rise, with a new title as Helmut Lang’s creative director and Paris Fashion Week now added to his resume. But back then, you couldn’t buy it, and had no idea what the clothes would look like. That’s no longer the case now, though.

Almost two months after the word got out about the forthcoming line, Do’s Paris show doubled as a debut for a handful of the collaboration’s pieces, stirring up significant buzz. And this week, after everyone in fashion (myself included) had made their wishlist from the runway, all 36 items from the collection—ranging from basics like tanks, trousers, and button-down shirts to statement outerwear—are available to purchase. Well, most of them. Some have already sold out. Scroll down to shop the collaboration of the year before it’s too late.

I’ve Tried, But I Just Can’t Stop Thinking About These Fall Ref and Mango Finds

    [ad_1]

Since I look at clothes pretty much all day, every day, being able to resist pretty things is practically an essential part of my job description. If I couldn’t, well, my paycheck would never actually reach my bank account. There are far too many temptations in the way. With that in mind, when I’m categorically unable to say no and mean it, the pieces causing this internal battle have to be good. Trust me. I’m not giving in for just anything.

Right now, there are really only two brands swirling around my mind with no intention of leaving and no one exactly kicking them out: Mango and Reformation. That’s because I spent a few too many hours today scrolling through both retailers’ fall collections and was thoroughly impressed with what I found. From viral-worthy dresses to the prettiest boots you’ll see, like, ever, find a little bit of everything your fall wardrobe’s been craving below from Reformation and Mango. At least, I know I did.

  • The $99 Nordstrom Boots I’m Buying to Get the Grungy Miu Miu Look on a Budget

The $99 Nordstrom Boots I’m Buying to Get the Grungy Miu Miu Look on a Budget

    [ad_1]

No single pair of boots has taken up residence in the brains of practically every person in fashion in recent years quite as significantly as Miu Miu’s moto boots, which the brand debuted in its F/W 22 collection. Mixed among penny loafers and the now-viral satin Mary Jane flats were a variety of heavy-duty, distressed leather boots in brown and black with a round toe, an ankle strap secured by large metal fasteners, and buckles up the leg that brought the thick material together on either side. Similar to the other footwear they were accompanied by on the runway, attendees and digital onlookers alike were instantly smitten.

As a result, over the past year, many brands have hopped aboard the moto-boot train, with options arriving from Steve Madden, Mango, and more. But none has gotten me quite as excited as the $99 pair I just discovered on Nordstrom.com. Ankle height, buckled to perfection, and featuring just the right amount of heel, the boots, courtesy of Nordstrom’s in-house, editor-favorite label Open Edit, check off every box. And the price isn’t half bad either. (I’m obviously kidding—the price is the *best* part.) Scroll down to shop Open Edit’s just-in moto boots ahead of fall’s official arrival.

  • H&M’s Chicest Collection of the Year Just Dropped—17 Items I Know Will Sell Out

H&M’s Chicest Collection of the Year Just Dropped—17 Items I Know Will Sell Out

    [ad_1]

Roughly three months ago, I walked into top-secret H&M territory in a lofted space in New York City to preview the fashion brand’s fall/winter 2023 Studio collection with the strict order to keep everything I saw there under wraps until its far-off launch date. Today, that date doesn’t feel so far away, probably because it’s happening right now. Finally, after months of letting the collection—H&M’s most design-driven of the year—stew inside my brain with no outlet in sight, I’m allowed to not only share its existence, but give all of my fellow fans of the brand the opportunity to buy pieces from it.

From slinky slip dresses to almost gothic velvet separates, this collection features a little bit of something for every variety of dresser and mood, with my all-time favorite piece arriving in the form of a patent-leather midi column skirt that Stockholm-based Ann-Sofie Johansson, the brand’s head of design and creative adviser, wore to the early-summer preview. Specifically, the line was meant to evoke different horror-movie heroines, according to Linda Wikell, the concept designer at H&M Studio, thus the silk, leather, and velvet, not to mention the heavy influence of black and abundance of delicate lace. Sound alluring? I thought it might.

Before everything sells out like it does every time H&M launches a new Studio collection, get to shopping below.

Oh This? It’s J.Crew—28 Just-Dropped Finds That Make Casual Elegance Look Easy

    [ad_1]

J.Crew might be known for its preppy aesthetic, but fortunately for us, it’s not the one that starts with whale-embroidered chinos at the club and ends with pink-and-green paisley on a catamaran. Rather, the J.Crew of 2023 is all about preppy fashion that errs on the side of casual, laid-back elegance—no intense effort or seven-digit net worth required. For proof, all you need to see is the brand’s fall drop, which landed on J.Crew’s website this week and features a bevy of relaxed but rich-looking finds worthy of a purchase ahead of the fast-approaching season.

Among the just-released fall items are viral-prone footwear, ranging from penny loafers to sculptural wedges; dangerously cozy knits; and lots of outerwear for all of the different weather situations we’ll surely be put in before the end of 2023. • I’ve Never Been a Revolve Girl, But Consider Me Converted by These 32 Fall Finds

I’ve Never Been a Revolve Girl, But Consider Me Converted by These 32 Fall Finds

    [ad_1]

Though I shopped at Revolve probably too much in high school (back before the company dropped the word “clothing” in its domain name), I almost never do in my adult life. As someone whose style errs more on the hushed, timeless side as opposed to the colorful, lively one, I never really thought there was anything for me there apart from the occasional in-stock sneaker or chic Helsa dress. But with a new season approaching, I thought I’d use it as an excuse to give Revolve another chance. It’s the least I could do for the brand that supplied me with my junior-year prom dress. (It was coral, but so was everyone’s in 2013.)

Following an afternoon-long scroll through Revolve’s fall arrivals, I’m officially ready to admit that I’d been 100% wrong to think that the retailer wasn’t fully stocked with pieces that would perfectly align with my more minimalist style preferences. In fact, my findings were some of the best fall pieces I’ve discovered all season, and that includes things from my tried-and-true stores and designers. From ’90s-inspired strapless dresses to elegant basics including knitwear, trousers, and outerwear, the 32 items below converted me. Consider me a Revolve girl from now on.

Resisting These 27 Designer Sale Finds Would Be a Bad Idea, Right?

    [ad_1]

I like to think of myself as a strong, level-headed person, but I’ll be the first person to admit that I have one very dangerous weakness: sales. Whether it’s 15% off or 90%, I’m going to scroll and/or sift meticulously through a sale’s contents, and if the options are good, I usually have no problem justifying a purchase (or two). Luckily, it’s a design flaw that’s made me and my closet very happy, which is why I have no plans to change, especially now that I’ve had some time to look through the late-in-the-season designer sales that are happening as we speak.

Matches, Net-a-Porter, Nordstrom, Mytheresa, and more continue to mark down last season’s leftovers, and while you might have to do some digging through them, the gems you can unearth are well worth the work. Trust me—I’ve spent the last six or so hours doing just that. To save you some time and curb my never-quenched thirst for sales, I went ahead and rounded up a few of my best designer finds below. That way, you’ll save time (and money), and I’ll still get to do what I love most.

Whenever a new season starts, especially one as stylistically relevant as fall, I find it extremely difficult to resist spending a heap of money that I don’t necessarily have on fresh wardrobe items that’ll lead me down a path to elegance and sartorial supremacy. All of those fall runway collections I’ve read, talked, and written about for so long about are finally being released, leading to do all sorts of girl math that doesn’t quite add up. My solution each and every year? To first peruse Zara’s fall arrivals, which more often than not keep me from giving into temptation and blowing my entire budget for the year on one or two items, all the while getting me to the same goal of overall chicness for the season ahead.

Once again, my go-to resource has come through, with Zara’s latest drops for autumn all more than satisfying my wardrobe cravings. There are classic coats (both maxi and cropped), statement accessories, and timeless basics that I’m betting will become the backbone to my style in the coming months. Really, the 31 items I rounded up below check off every box. And if you don’t believe me, see for yourself. Most Wanted is a weekly franchise that goes live every Monday. The story features a list of one editor or influencer’s current favorite 30 fashion or beauty products around a certain theme.

The days leading up to New York Fashion Week, aka the first stop of four in the marathon that is fashion month, are some of the busiest of the entire year for those who call the industry home. Not only do you have to make your schedule for some of, if not the entire month, locked in, you also need to brainstorm coverage ideas, meet with publicists, attend pre-NYFW events, and, the most mentally taxing of all, plan your outfits.

Since fashion month’s kickoff is just days away, I as a fashion editor, am knee-deep in the planning process, taking inspiration from the runways (both current and archival), street style, my never-ending Instagram saved folder, and more, and pulling from my existing closet before shopping out the final touches. H&M’s Having a Secret 24-Hour Sale—Shop These 28 Fall Finds Before It’s Too Late

    [ad_1]

Though it might feel like the summer sales just ended, we’re already back in the thick of it, but this time, you don’t have weeks to ponder about what you want to buy. You only have a day, maybe two if you’re lucky and your favorite store’s feeling generous. Then, after the Labor Day festivities draw to a close, all of those once–red marked items go right back to being full price.

I, for one, am not about to let that happen. After all, the next big shopping holiday isn’t until Black Friday, and that’s still months away. So, when I saw that H&M was having a 24-hour Labor Day Weekend sale involving 20%-off markdowns across the entirety of its website, I didn’t dilly dally or hesitate. I acted, scrolling through all of the brand’s fall arrivals and selecting the pieces I love (especially with a lower-than-normal price tag) before pressing purchase. And to help make sure you do the same, I went ahead and listed out all of my finds below. You’re welcome.

The peak of sale season may already be in our rearview mirrors, but really, I find that I get the best shopping done at the very end of the summer, when prices are the lowest and you really have to dig through virtual sale bins in order to score something big. Personally, I’ve been monituring the discount scene for weeks, waiting for the best possible moment to attack those items on my wishlist that I could never afford at full price. And now, with leftover clearance pieces and Labor-Day Weekend deals teaming up, I’ve reached that perfect last window before all of those beautiful red slashes disappear.

As we speak, a handful of sales are going on. There’s the 25%-off Matches code that you have to spend $300 to qualify for (which is not a hard feat given how elite the selection is) and a secret Tory Burch sale that everyone in the NYC Who What Wear office has been whispering about. Net-a-Porter’s doling out an extra 20% off of already marked-down pieces from the summer, while J.Crew’s at 40% off almost everything on its site. Suffice to say, I know what I’m going to be doing on this Friday afternoon before the holiday weekend: shopping.

As much as it pains me to say this, summer is almost over. And I don’t mean you have a month to live it up before it ends. You have exactly one week, then poof! Welcome fall. But while I am, indeed, a bit taken aback by how fast the season flew by, I can’t be upset, because who can be upset when there are just so many sales going on to celebrate it. That’s right—it’s Labor-Day sale time, and of all the ones I’ve heard about thus far (and there have been quite a few), J.Crew’s markdowns sound like the best deals of all.

Following a pre–Labor Day early access sale, the Americana brand on everyone’s lips in 2023 kept up the good work by launching a 40% off promotion that ends on Thursday. But that’s not all, in addition to your entire purchase being marked down 40%, any items you eye in the sale section will be an additional 50% off. That means that new arrivals and brand best-sellers alike can be yours for a fraction of their usual prices, but only for a few days. And given how quickly summer passed up by, four days will feel supersonic. So get to work.
