  • I Spent New Year's Day at Nordstrom—28 Half-Yearly Sale Items I Couldn't Resist

    I Spent New Year's Day at Nordstrom—28 Half-Yearly Sale Items I Couldn't Resist

    [ad_1]

A new year almost always comes with resolutions. This year, the tradition resulted in my promising to cut down on shopping and pick back up my running habit. That’s how I found myself jogging along the west side of Central Park on New Year’s Day, only to somehow end up at Nordstrom‘s front door. While I should have held off and resisted the strong urge to step inside, I didn’t. Instead, I broke my resolution one day in and went off at 10 in the morning into the Half-Yearly Sale section. Surprise, surprise.

From elegant and affordable outerwear that I’m prepared to replace all of my expensive designer coats with to ultra-luxe footwear and accessories from the likes of Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Tory Burch that are shockingly marked down, the 28 Half-Yearly Sale items I discovered during my two-hour jaunt around Nordstrom’s NYC flagship are nothing if not impressive. Before the deals end on January 8, shop every last one below.

  • The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

    [ad_1]

The spring 2024 runway collections were stocked full of trends, from sophisticated takes on sheer to dramatically overstuffed handbags, but out of all of them, none made quite as impactful of a splash as oxblood (otherwise known as black cherry, merlot, or burgundy), the shade of red on every fashion person’s lips (and in their closets) right now. Found at Hermès, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Tom Ford, and then some, the elegant yet moody hue is no doubt campaigning to be the color of the year.

Helping out on the campaign trail are celebs, who’ve come out in droves to support the rise of oxblood, wearing it on red carpets, to fashion shows, and on the streets of cities like New York and London. And since the spring collections haven’t even arrived in stores yet, I can only imagine that the best A-list burgundy looks are still to come. Scroll down to check out the chicest examples so far of celebs wearing 2024’s color of the year.

  • These Nordstrom, Zara, and H&M Items Look Designer (Without the Price Tag)

These Nordstrom, Zara, and H&M Items Look Designer (Without the Price Tag)

    [ad_1]

There once was a time when differentiating between expensive pieces and affordable ones could be done in seconds, no matter how trained in fashion a person was. The dramatically opposing fabrics, cuts, and construction gave everything away. But today, that’s not exactly the case. Brands are savvier than ever, making it easy to be tricked and, in turn, to trick others with $20 pieces that look and feel like they cost $200 or even $2000. (I won’t tell if you won’t.) Therefore, looking like someone with a closet full of designer items no longer comes with a steep price tag.

I’ve done the research and crunched the numbers, and by my calculations, the perfect budget for a designer-esque wardrobe is $150. And no, I’m not pulling one on you. To prove it, I went ahead and rounded up 35 under-$150 pieces from H&M, Zara, and Nordstrom that even the most discerning fashion critics would assume were from the designer floor. Scroll down for the receipts.

  • I Only Buy Cashmere From Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew—These Sweaters Are Why

I Only Buy Cashmere From Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew—These Sweaters Are Why

    [ad_1]

Running your hands over a cashmere sweater is one of life’s little luxuries. The fiber is sourced from pashmina or cashmere goats and is known for its softness. It can also be mixed with wool to provide extra warmth during the freezing winter months. Basically, any article of clothing is available in the material (pants, socks, scarves, you name it!), but a cashmere sweater is one of the classics you need. It makes layering so much easier in colder temperatures, and there are tons of options you can choose from between turtlenecks, cardigans, polos, and oversize silhouettes.

Though they are a little trickier to care for (you can’t just throw one in the wash and call it a day), the wear you’ll get out of them and the styling versatility they provide make cashmere sweaters well worth their sometimes-hefty price tags. When I’m looking to stock up, I gravitate toward Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew. Once you scroll through the below list, you’ll understand why. Ahead, I rounded up 33 of the best cashmere sweaters to shop at each retailer so you can feel absolutely luxurious while going about your day this winter.

I've Been Preparing All Year For This Nordstrom Sale—23 Finds I Can't *Not* Buy

    [ad_1]

Because of my job, I pretty much have the sale schedules of every retailer memorized. In other words, I’ve known about Nordstrom’s current sale for a long time—pretty much all year—and have been mentally, emotionally, and physically preparing for it ever since. Think I’m kidding? I won’t bore you with the receipts, but trust me, I’ve never been more ready to dig up the best finds from Nordstrom’s 30,000-plus women’s sale items than I am today. You should see my workstation. It includes three screens, four liquids, and the *perfect* playlist for peak concentration.

    It's Already 2024 at Zara—7 Next-Year Trends I'm Buying Way Early

    [ad_1]

I knew Zara moved fast when it came to trends, but I never knew it moved this fast. After scrolling through the Spanish fashion brand’s latest arrivals, opening what could possibly have amounted to 100 tabs in my browser, I noticed something. The selection wasn’t touching on trends from this year, but rather, the retailer’s virtual shelves were already fully stocked with all of the trends we’ve been predicting to make it big next year. Apparently, the next 10 days don’t matter. At Zara, it’s already 2024.

In the same manner that we do, clearly Zara’s design team has been busy studying the chicest moments from the runways and scouring the social feeds of fashion’s best trend predictors to get ahead on the trends that are to come post–New Year’s Eve. And while I’m all for living in the moment, in this case, I’m not mad about the head start I can now get on my 2024 wardrobe at a price that’s hard to beat. Scroll down to get to grips with next year’s biggest trends, all of which are currently in stock and ready to shop at Zara.

  • I Have $200 and a Goal of Looking Rich—34 Nordstrom Finds That Fit All My Needs

I Have $200 and a Goal of Looking Rich—34 Nordstrom Finds That Fit All My Needs

    [ad_1]

I know I can’t be the only person here who wants, when they get dressed, to look expensive. We’ve been taught it basically all our lives, but instead of that word, people said “nice” or “sophisticated.” To me, all of the above mean the same thing, except mine implies an extra oomph—or, perhaps, an extra dollar sign. Of course, the trick is to reach this ultimate goal without having to actually spend a lot of money. A $2000 bag will make you look rich; that’s a given. But if you can find a $50 one that gives the same impression, that’s when you’ve really won.

After 28 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about gaming the system to get the vibe I want for a price I can afford, which is what brought me to spend the last, I don’t know, four hours scrolling through Nordstrom’s latest arrivals in search of pieces that would appear to set me back thousands but all cost under $200. Scroll down to shop the 34 pieces I unearthed along the way.

I'm Convinced That This $20 H&M Accessory Is the Secret to Looking Rich

    [ad_1]

There are certain items that fashion girls just know will take an outfit from 0 to 100, or better yet, from $50 to $5000. But unlike some people, I don’t like to gatekeep. In fact, I’m so gabby, I can hardly keep anything in for long. And of all the outfit-making pieces that myself and the rest of this industry swear by to elevate any and every ensemble, none do the job as well as a good belt—period.

Because of my sharing nature, this story was my first stop after I stumbled across what I can only describe as the chicest and most designer-looking belt on the market, an item that just so happens to cost only $20 and be in stock in every size. Courtesy of H&M, the belt in question is crafted out of a subtle croc-effect black faux leather with gold, Western-style hardware. And while it only just dropped, given how nothing lives on the shelves at H&M for long—trust me, I’ve been burned by the retailer’s speedy sell outs more than once—it is essential that you and I both act fast if scoring the below waist embellisher is a priority, which it certainly should be. Scroll down to snag one before it’s too late.

On Sale, In Stock, and Anti Trend—30 Guaranteed Winners From Shopbop's Big Sale

    [ad_1]

By this point in the end-of-year sale season, the big-ticket, trendy items have all but sold out, purchased by people who were okay with shopping during the first round of price cuts. I, on the other hand, usually make it a rule to skip the initial few weeks of sales, preferring to instead, wait until the real discounts start, when only the anti-trendwardrobe essentials are left and they’re selling at a price that’s truly worth writing home about.

After what’s felt like forever spent watching other people shop, I got the news I’ve been waiting all season for. As of this week, Shopbop’s up-to-70%-off holiday sale is on, which means that I can finally get in on the action. And of course, so can you. If you’re just as inclined to shop for heavily discounted closet staples for 2024, scroll down for 30 that are guaranteed to get worn and worn again in the year ahead.

Nordstrom's Holiday Deals Are Here—These 26 Finds Are 100% Regret Proof

The holiday season is officially under way, but before you head off to your first festivity, there’s important business to take care of at Nordstrom, where, for a limited-time only, the holiday deals are popping off and anyone who doesn’t take advantage of them will have to bring all that regret into 2024. And we wouldn’t want that, would we?

To make it as easy as possible to fit shopping this epic annual sale into everyone’s busy schedules this time of year, I scrolled through page after page of markdowns and pulled out the very best fashion deals that are being doled out right now until December 15. From the cashmere sweaters I regularly gift both myself and my family to the chicest mini handbag to bring to your first holiday party of the season, the 26 sale items ahead aren’t the sort that should be passed over. Since I shop all day every day (no really, I do), occasionally, I like to come up with ways to make it feel more exciting. I love shopping as much as or more than the next person, but even the things you love can start to feel boring every so often. That’s where challenges like this one come into play. To spice things up, I gave myself two hours this week to see how many rich-looking items I could find from Nordstrom with a $300 budget in mind. And not to brag, but I hit it out of the park.

From the faux-shearling Mango jacket that fashion girls lose it over every year to under-$90 heels that elite budgeters are buying to get the Saint Laurent look, my 32 discoveries below only look like they’ll cost you an arm and a leg. In reality, there are plenty that fall into the under-$100 bucket. Scroll down to peruse the selection. Hopefully, you’ll be as impressed with the offering as I was.

I’ve seen a lot of collaborations in my day, but as I sit here typing away, I’m finding it difficult to think of one that rivals J.Crew‘s latest team up in terms of overall good looks and buy worthiness. On Tuesday, the brand on everyone’s lips in 2023 dropped a 18-piece holiday collection with Ukrainian label Anna October, a move that will surely lead to some of the chicest party looks of the season.

The collection, which spans from dresses both long and short to separates and even jewelry, is designed with feminine grace and confidence in mind, culminating in a mix of sheer sequins; stringy, red maxis; delicate feathered accents; and subtly sexy off-the-shoulder moments. Basically, it includes all of the trends I’ve been scouring the internet for to write about ahead of the season of nightly holiday parties—all in one place. Below, shop all 18 pieces from the just-launched collection. And don’t wait. I have a feeling that every last one with sell out.

  • I Spot These Sweaters at Least Once a Day in NYC—These 24 Are Worth the Hype

I Spot These Sweaters at Least Once a Day in NYC—These 24 Are Worth the Hype

    [ad_1]

This time of year, about three-fourths of my closet space is taken up by my sweaters. It’s a collection I’ve been slowly and patiently building for my entire adult life. Everything good takes time, and knits aren’t a wardrobe area to cut corners on—ever. I have $10 cashmere from my local Goodwills, $100 knits accumulated over the years from various sales, and a $1000 sweater that took a significant amount of courage to press purchase on. I wear them all equally, and one look around New York City tells me that I’m not the only one.

My sweater collection isn’t unique, and that’s okay. I see many of the knits I wear on repeat all across the city, from uptown to downtown. Like you do when you drive past someone in your same car, there’s usually a subtle moment of recognition between me and the other person. They’re in on the ultimate fashion secret. The guide below allows you to be in on it too. From affordable offerings at Nordstrom and J.Crew and lavish investments from Khaite and The Row to fashion-insider picks like Almina Concept and Almada Label, everything you need to build a sweater collection people will stop you on the street about is one scroll away.

  • The $25 J.Crew Item I'm Buying to Get Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's Look In 2024

The $25 J.Crew Item I'm Buying to Get Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's Look In 2024

    [ad_1]

I can’t be the only one who’s feed on every social media platform is currently home to a seemingly endless assortment of ’90s Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy photos. Not that I’m complaining—my Instagram Saved folder is just as packed with said images. Chic, sophisticated, and always dressed to the nines in a seemingly effortless manner, Bessette-Kennedy is the modern woman’s style icon for a reason. So anytime that I find an item that’s even remotely similar to one she frequented back then, I have to buy it. End of story.

Well, that’s exactly what happened today when I was scrolling through J.Crew and stumbled across a $25 tortoiseshell acetate headband that looks shockingly similar to the style Bessette-Kennedy wore on repeat, either with her corn-blonde hair worn straight and down or tied up in her signature chignon. (I saw on TikTok that she was rumored to have bought hers at C.O. Bigelow, an iconic New York City pharmacy in the West Village.) Of course, I ordered one right away and will probably be back for its Kelly green alternative. Follow my lead after looking through some of Bessette-Kennedy’s best headband-clad street-style looks.

8 Trends Set to Define 2024 Fashion

    [ad_1]

Twenty twenty-three has been a wild and crazy ride in the fashion industry, with creative directors coming and going, designers completely revamping their brands, and finally, some fresh-feeling trends debuting on the runways. New avenues of inspiration have been introduced by way of sports, with Rihanna appearing at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in Gucci, Prada, and Balenciaga; Netflix’s Beckham reminding us of every Posh Spice game-day outfit from the ’90s and early aughts; and Grace Wales Bonner continuing to bring soccer style to the fashion set through her collaboration with Adidas. And of course, there’s the quiet-luxury movement, which single-handedly ushered in a return to simple, wearable style after years of saturated hues, maximum volume, and over-the-top accessories.

Because of all this, I have a pretty good idea of what 2024 will look like sartorially and, specifically, which trends will go on to define its 365 days. From the one designer who’s set to rule the year ahead to the one color you can expect to see on every bag, sweater, dress, and shoe in January and beyond, everything you need to know about fashion post–December 31 is yours for the taking below. And remember to take notes. In a few weeks’ time, when everyone else is scrambling to refresh their wardrobes to go along with their resolutions, you’ll be sitting pretty knowing you’ve already earned a master’s in 2024 fashion.

In not-so-surprising news: We’re expert Shopbop shoppers. Yes, the retailer has amazing designer finds and showstopping designs, but it’s the basics and minimal pieces that I tend to gravitate toward the most. These pieces are the foundation of any good wardrobe, not to mention some of the most versatile styles you can turn to time and time again. Plus, the retailer’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale means it’s a great time to stock up on must-haves. (PSA: You can take 25% off select items with the code HOLIDAY. You’re welcome.) I browsed through hundreds of pages of the site’s best basics and top-selling items to bring you the go-to items you should absolutely add to your cart.

From popular denim brands like Levi’s and Agolde, to trusted T-shirts and tanks you can wear on the daily, I guarantee you’ll find something your wardrobe is missing. And don’t worry, I didn’t forget about accessories either! Trust me: These 31 items are the real deal. But don’t just take my word for it—scroll through the below list to discover the best Shopbop basics, and you might just find yourself so inclined to place an order.

As many dos as the office-siren look has—bone cuff bracelets, slinky blouses, pencil skirts, stilettos, and cherry red—it likewise has its don’ts, Bieuville shares. One common misconception when it comes to the trend is that it’s vulgar, especially for an office setting. “A big ‘don’t’ for me would be to be inappropriately dressed,” she says. “The corporate side is still very much present, but [the office siren] lifts it all up with a play on materials, and in the end it’s quite a subtle balance.” Putting an emphasis on the word subtle, she says that ending up in anything leopard print with patent-leather stilettos is a sign you’ve gone way too far. “The aim is not to be noticed only for your looks, but to shine with all your qualities.” Really, it’s more about the woman than her closet. Though, when someone has themself fully figured out, they usually also have a good grasp on their personal style. And the office siren is 100% the type to know exactly who she is and what she wants—from her job, from her style, from her life as a whole. Khaite’s the Goal—H&M’s the Budget: This Chic $27 Halter Dress Is All You Need

    [ad_1]

I have an obsessive personality, which can, like most things, be a good thing or a bad thing. It’s a good thing when it comes to cleaning, editing, or washing my face at night no matter how late it is. It’s a bad thing, though, when I find something that I desperately want that I simply cannot afford. I’ll think about said item day and night, stalking sales and resale sites until my screen time is up 500%.

Here’s a perfect example: Last February, Khaite held a runway show in SoHo, where the brand debuted a high-neck halter dress in a fitted, ribbed fabric that came to the model’s lower shins. It was perfectly sculpted, and the neckline epitomized elegance and refinement. I zeroed in on the dress, feasting over its every thread and waiting patiently until it became available. When it did, I immediately started saving. But with life comes expenses, and given the dress’s lofty price tag, I still haven’t quite been able to give it a home in my closet.

Even though it’s not technically Black Friday yet, the annual sale event is already well into its tenure, with deals on every website and in every store. Of course, some are better than others—that’s natural—and none is superior to Nordstrom’s, which is going on now and blowing every other sale out of the water.

After scrolling through thousands of red-marked products from the sale, one theme, in particular, stood out: wealth. No, the prices aren’t sky high, at least not on the pieces featured below. But you wouldn’t know that just by looking at them. In fact, all 30 of them look shockingly expensive and very “old money,” if you know what I mean.
