  • Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Release Party Is a Lucrative Ode to Her Secret Sessions

    [ad_1]

Last week, Taylor Swift announced that her filmmaking era shall continue with The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. Her last theatrical venture, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film (2023) earned more than $260 million at the box office, reviving movie theaters in a post-strike slump. Before that, Swift directed the Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions (2020) special for Disney+; was the subject of the Netflix documentary Miss Americana (2020); and also released the Reputation concert film in 2018. The corresponding Showgirl movie looks to be another feather in Swift’s bejeweled cap: It grossed $15 million in the first 24 hours of ticket presales and is expected to earn $30M-$50M opening weekend. According to Swift, the theatrical event will feature a brand new music video, lyric videos, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, plus her commentary on every track of her new album.

This splashy experience is reminiscent of when Swift willingly invited hordes of her most devoted fans into her actual home for the first taste of new music—although now on a global scale. In 2014, the 1989secret sessions” had baked goods made by Swift herself and later, in 2017, one of the Reputation listening events featured an appearance from official normie best friend Abigail Anderson of “Fifteen” fame. But what will the theatrically released Showgirl film have to offer?

Swift’s new music—and any movie about it—is expected to delve into her headline-making romance with Travis Kelce, as well as what it meant to reclaim ownership of her masters. Ahead, everything we know about The Official Release Party of a Showgirl—including where to watch and how to get tickets.

What Is The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

“I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée,” Swift announced via social media on Friday, September 19, sharing that The Official Release Party of a Showgirl would play in theaters from October 3 (the day of her new album’s release) through October 5. “You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl,” she wrote alongside imagery from the record.

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl coincides with the debut of her recently announced 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Swift previously joined her now fiancée and his brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast on August 13 to reveal the cover, tracklist, and producers for the project, before later sharing the official release date at, of course, 12:12 p.m. ET.

When and where can I watch The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

Surprise, surprise: When your billion-dollar global tour generates the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, most major theater chains want to do business with you. Screenings for the Showgirl experience are happening across the country, including all 540 AMC Theatres, Cinemark and Regal cinemas. Fans can search for available tickets nearest them now at releasepartyofashowgirl.com. AMC has cautioned that no trailers or ads will be shown before the event, meaning all masquerade revelers should plan to arrive early or on time.

Tickets for the event in other countries—Canada, Mexico, the UK, France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand among them—will go on sale September 23. Release parties for additional countries will be announced on or around October 3.

How much are tickets to The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

A staunch supporter of clever numerology, Swift is charging $12 (before online booking fees) for the theatrical event celebrating her 12-track 12th album. Screenings for the 89-minute experience will start simultaneously across time zones at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT on October 3.

How about the dance and dress code?

While busting out into spontaneous choreography is generally frowned upon (sorry to anyone who sat near me on the opening day of 2007’s Hairspray), the theater chains are making an exception for Swifties. Perhaps because Swift herself told fans that “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.”

  • Chiefs overcome sloppy start to pick up 1st win of season

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Kansas City Chiefs overcame some sloppy play to pick up their first win of the season against the New York Giants on Sunday night, 22-9.

The Chiefs seemed incredibly stagnant in the first half. Kansas City was having a tough time figuring out the Giants’ defense and several players were dropping some key passes. It all changed in the second half as Patrick Mahomes found a rhythm and holes in the Giants’ secondary.

Mahomes found Tyquan Thornton for a 5-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Chiefs a 10-point cushion against the Giants. After New York narrowed the deficit to seven points, Mahomes needed to make a play to get Kansas City back on the board.

He found Thornton again for a 33-yard pass to the 1-yard line. Thornton made an acrobatic play, which set up running back Kareem Hunt for a touchdown from the goal line.

Travis Kelce’s own frustrations boiled over in the first half. As he walked off the field following a drive in the second quarter, he and Andy Reid appeared to have words with each other. He refocused his efforts in the second half and had a key third down catch on the team’s touchdown drive in the third quarter.

Kansas City held strong even as Russell Wilson guided the team down the field late in the fourth quarter. The defense frustrated the veteran quarterback enough to look like a shade of himself from last week.

Mahomes finished 22-of-37 with 224 passing yards and a lone touchdown pass. Thornton led the Chiefs with five catches for 71 yards and the score. Kelce had four catches for 26 yards.

The Chiefs’ defense held Wilson to 160 passing yards. He was sacked twice.

Giants rookie Cam Skattebo may have been the only bright spot for the Giants. He had 60 rushing yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. He also led the team with six catches for 61 yards.

  • Launch party for Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” is coming to theaters. Here’s what to know.

    [ad_1]

Taylor Swift fans will soon get another chance to see the pop star on the big screen, as AMC Theaters on Friday announced an official release party for her “Life of a Showgirl” album, on Oct. 3 – 5.

Called “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” the 89-minute theatrical experience will play at all 540 AMC locations in the U.S. as well as Cinemark and Regal theaters. It will also be shown in as many as 100 additional countries, according to AMC. Showtimes begin on Oct. 3 — the same day the album debuts — at 3 p.m. EDT, 2 p.m. CDT, 1 p.m. MDT and noon PDT.

U.S. Ticket sales launched Friday, leading fans to flock to AMC Theaters’ website. As of 2 p.m, the wait time to buy a ticket, which costs $12 plus tax, was over an hour.

“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan…” Swift said in an Instagram post Friday. “Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged,” she added.

As part of the experience, AMC will screen the world premiere of Swift’s music video, “The Fate of Ophelia,” one of the 12 tracks on her forthcoming studio album, at movie theaters across the country from Oct. 3 to 5. Fans will also be able to see behind-the-scenes footage from the music video, other lyric videos and Swift’s reflections on songs, according to the company’s statement.

Swift announced the release of “Life of a Showgirl,” her 12th studio album, last month, dropping the news on her website and later teasing it on the “New Heights” podcast, hosted by her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Travis Kelce and Swift announced their engagement last month.

“The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” marks AMC Theatres’ second collaboration with Swift. “The Eras Tour” movie, was the top-selling concert film of all time, according to AMC. The 2023 film which documented Swift’s recording-breaking international tour, grossed $261.6 million globally, surpassing Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” (2009), according to online music publication Pitchfork.

Netflix in 2020 released a documentary of Swift’s life in show business entitled “Miss Americana,”  which was screened at select theaters across the U.S.

  • Elevated Rookie Play Beats the Chiefs Once Again. – Philadelphia Sports Nation

    [ad_1]

Photo Courtesy of Eagles Nation on X.

Standing on the 300 Level of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City — one cannot help but be impressed by the NFL Championship banners blowing around in the hot Missouri air. It was the second most impressive thing at Arrowhead on Sunday. Apart from the Philadelphia Eagles, that is.

On Sunday afternoon — in hard fought rematch of Super Bowl LIX ten months ago — the rushing attack of the Philadelphia Eagles offense led the way with two touchdowns in a 20–17 victory. But it was what happened on defense that was even more intriguing.

Photo Courtesy of Eagles Nation on X.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio — in an uncharacteristic move — sent pressure from every corner of the field at Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. One of the standouts in the Eagles secondary was rookie Safety Andrew Mukaba — who finished with six tackles, a 1.5 sack, and a 41-yard interception return on a pass picked off after a ricochet off of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Last year in Super Bowl LIX — then-rookie Eagles Cooper DeJean would intercept Patrick Mahomes — returning it thirty-eight yards for a score.

Just under thirty years ago — another Eagles rookie was making a positive impression. Eagles Head Coach Ray Rhodes had drafted Brian Dawkins the previous May — after an impressive career at Clemson and an equally impressive NFL Combine. In week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys — After catapulting to the starting safety position on the Eagles — Dawkins shot the gap and blindsided three-time NFL Champion Troy Aikman. The ball popped into the air and was subsequently intercepted and returned 32-yards for a touchdown by Rhett Hall.

The Eagles defense — which limited Mahomes’ offense to just seventeen points — was impressive all afternoon long. Those championship banners celebrating what was previously the best team in the NFL was almost as impressive.

    Almost, but not quite.

As mentioned, ‘Breezy Bowl’ stopped in Los Angeles, and Kayla Nicole and her people popped out for the vibes. It’s unclear whether the moment was pre-planned with an invite from Breezy. But, once on stage in a red chair, Chris Brown didn’t let the 18-year difference show in his ‘Take You Down’ moves. Videos show him pressing her back against the chair, coming down to grind against her pelvic and private areas several times. “For the mini me who saw him at one of her first concerts. For the woman who sometimes feels like she has to be a monolith instead of multi-layered. I did it for the smart girls, the cool girls, the sexy girls, the fun girls–for all of u who are all of those things at once. And I OVERLYdid it for my brown girls, tthhaaankya.”

Why Is Travis Kelce’s Name Coming Up, Too?

While Kayla Nicole has an entertainment industry resume, she’s made more headlines recently for being Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend. The two dated on and off for five years before ending for good in 2022. Much of the talk came after he and Taylor Swift began dating. While Kayla has publicly chatted about her past with Travis, he has evidently moved on and broke the internet this month when he proposed to Taylor.

Most recently, she declined to comment when paparazzi asked about Travis’ engagement at a New York Fashion Week event. However, she answered questions about her own love life. She confirmed that she’s single and loves a man who is honest, of really great character, likes to have fun, has a great relationship with his family, and has good girlfriends, per E! News.

  • Andrew Mukuba’s pick in the Eagles’ win over the Chiefs has him on the way to being ‘scary’

    [ad_1]

Wherever the game goes, there’s one constant for Andrew Mukuba: If the ball is in the air, he’s going for a play, and trusting that it will find its way to him.

Sunday in the Eagles’ Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs, the ball did, and in a crucial spot.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense had marched down to the Philadelphia 6-yard line early into the fourth quarter, and looking to cap off the drive and pull ahead, Mahomes tried to lead in his star tight end Travis Kelce on a pass drifting toward the goal line.

But Kelce couldn’t get a grip on the ball and bobbled it. Mukuba, who had moved to close in, could as the ball fell right into his hands for the interception.

The rookie safety took off with the pick with room down the left sideline. Only a dive from Chiefs offensive tackle Josh Simmons to knock him out of bounds prevented Mukuba from breaking completely away.

But he made the play, shifting momentum back to the Eagles at a pivotal point of an eventual 20-17 win at Arrowhead. The ball was in the air. He went for it.

“I’m really mad I got caught at the end still,” Mukuba cracked to the media at his locker postgame. “But it was a good changing point of the game. I feel that’s what we needed as a team to finish the game out.”

And what the rookie needed to fully bring his day back.

During the first half, Mukuba had already made a big play to bring up fourth down. The Chiefs had pushed into Eagles territory, but on a 3rd and 8, Mukuba charged in untouched on a blitz that brought him straight to Mahomes on a sack shared with recent edge rush signing Za’Darius Smith. The sequence held the Chiefs to only a field goal to maintain what was an early Eagles lead at 7-3.

    Mahomes, however, came back around.

Pushing later into the half, Kansas City took a chance on a 4th and 4. Mahomes dropped a quick pass off for Kelce, Mukuba got caught slipping behind, and he grabbed on to the tight end’s arm, struggling to catch back up to make the tackle as he got pulled for 18 yards.

A few plays later, Mahomes kept the ball to run and trucked Mukuba for another first down that quickly led to a Chiefs touchdown and a brief 10-7 lead for them.

It was an NFL reality check for the second-round draft pick, but one he didn’t fold under.

Coming back from halftime, and on a Kansas City 3rd and 1, Mukuba cracked down on receiver Hollywood Brown short of the marker for no gain, which forced Mahomes and the Chiefs into another situation to go for it on 4th, where this time, they ran it straight into a wall and a turnover on downs.

Then, in that critical spot where the Chiefs were threatening again from in close, Mukuba came up with the pick that instantly wiped the threat away.

“I mean, that’s the name of the game,” Mukuba said. “You gotta get the ball. Whoever causes the most turnovers, I believe’s got a high percentage chance of winning. So just thinking ‘ball’ at all times, man, it’s important.

“I feel like that’s what helps me a lot to be in those positions and being able to make those plays.”

And what on Sunday, pulled himself and the Eagles through in the end.

Mukuba’s pick of Mahomes was the first of his NFL career, and in only the second week of his first professional season.

He told the media huddled at his locker that he did hold on to the ball and will be putting it up on his shelf later.

For the Eagles, it’s hopefully the first of many. For Mukuba, it’s an early career milestone and a mark that he’s getting confident at the NFL level, which he credited Reed Blankenship for helping to build up as the veteran alongside him, and what he thinks will become a serious problem for the rest of the league soon enough.

“There’s time where I feel like there’s plays I could’ve made that I didn’t make, and I kind of beat myself up a little bit,” Mukuba said. “But I had a guy like Reed next to me telling me to stay confident, keep going.

“But as I play, as I make the plays that I make and be in position, I feel like I gain more confidence just being out there and getting comfortable. I feel like sooner or later, I’m gonna get really, really comfortable, and it’s gonna be scary.”

  • I Knew You Were Trouble: No Proof Taylor Swift Agreed To Deposition, Blake Lively Says; Calls Baldoni Move More Of “Relentless Media Strategy” In Case

    [ad_1]

Justin Baldoni‘s latest attempt to pull Taylor Swift into his defense against sexual harassment and retaliation allegations from It End With Us co-star Blake Lively looks to be going off the rails faster than the Grammy winner’s upcoming The Life of a Showgirl album is expected to rocket to the top of the charts.

Not yet approved by a judge in the case that goes to trial next spring, Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studies inner circle want to see Swift deposed “during the week of October 20-25 due to Ms. Swift’s preexisting professional obligations. However, the recently engaged singer has not been “agreed” to the sit-down next month, which comes weeks after discovery in the matter was supposed to be over, and Baldoni’s side has presented no “evidence” to justify it, says a sharply worded filing by Lively’s lawyers today.

Calling the effort first made public by Baldoni in a September 11 letter to the court, another move “to fuel their relentless media strategy,” Lively attorney Michael J. Gottlieb wants federal Judge Lewis Liman to deny the Swift deposition, its dates and the discovery extension effort. “Even if one were to take the Wayfarer Defendants’ representation at face value, they have not come close to establishing good cause for their requested relief,” the Willkie Farr & Gallagher partner insists.

“The Wayfarer Defendants assert that Ms. Swift is not available for a deposition until October 20, 2025, yet are silent about their efforts (if any) to schedule this deposition during the existing discovery period,” Gottlieb adds.

“That is likely because, as explained in the attached correspondence between the parties, see Exhibit A, the Wayfarer Defendants do not appear to have contacted Ms. Swift’s counsel regarding a date or location about the deposition until earlier this week,” Lively co-lead lawyer states.

“In this respect, the Wayfarer Defendants’ lack of diligence, and disrespect for Ms. Swift’s privacy and schedule, is astounding. Discovery has been ongoing for more than six months, and Ms. Swift is someone whose calendar should be presumed to be packed with professional obligations for months in advance,” Gottlieb continued. “At any point over the past six months, the Wayfarer Defendants could have noticed a deposition, served a subpoena, and negotiated an agreeable time and place for this deposition. But they did not.”

As the overall matter heads towards its March 9, 2026 trial date start, Judge Liman will have the final word – for now – on bringing Swift on board and giving Baldoni and his Wayfarer co-founders more time for their own depositions.

Having been round this maypole before over the months since December 2024 when Lively first made her claims to California Civil Rights Department of what went down on the IEWU production and the online smear campaign that allegedly followed, Swift’s reps did not respond to Deadline’s request for comment on the supposed deposition next month and the back-and-forth correspondence. Baldoni and Wayfarer’s PR team also did not answer a request to respond to today’s damning letter from Livley’s side.

Swift and Lively’s long friendship had been a distinct sub-plot in the IEWU legal battles, with tabloid fodder that the duo have fallen out over the controversy adverse Eras Tour performer getting tainted with the whole thing. Swift was name checked in the self titled Scenario Planning document that Baldoni crisis PR chief Melissa Nathan, who is also a defendant in the case, put together in the summer of 2024 as IEWU‘s premiere loomed. “As part of this, our team can also explore planting stories about the weaponization of feminism and how people in BL’s circle like Taylor Swift, have been accused of utilizing these tactics to ‘bully’ into getting what they want,” the five-pager said in a section called
“Scenario 3: Ryan comes forward in defense of his wife.”

On the docket, Swift talking to Baldoni’s Bryan Freedman-led lawyers was a media storm back in May and June. Even before that, Swift, who contributed her ‘My Tears Ricochet’ tune to the Lively cut of IEWU, made a cameo or two in various filings with IEWU director Baldoni feeling ganged up on when Swift’s name was brought up as one of Lively’s “dragons” who backed her suggestions for changes to the movie.

While it does seem that Swift and Lively may not be hangin out that much of late, at least publicly, but the former is still the godmother to one of the latter and Ryan Reynolds’ children. No word, if Lively and Reynolds are going to Swift’s wedding with repeat Super Bowl champ and Kansas City Chief player Travis Kelce – but then again there is no word when that American royalty nuptial day is happening and who is going besides Swift and Kelce.

What we do know is that Swift’s new Life of a Showgirl album is se to drop on October 3 — a few weeks before the deposition Team Baldoni want her to give.

  • Travis Kelce’s Ex Had a Telling Response to His Engagement With Taylor Swift: ‘No…’

    [ad_1]

Kayla Nicole is keeping mum when asked about her ex, Travis Kelce‘s recent engagement. The sports reporter quickly avoided the question about the NFL tight end’s big news.

On the red carpet for the House of Champion event in New York City on September 11, the Daily Mail asked Kayla Nicole about her reaction to Kelce & Swift’s engagement. “Oh,” she said, “no, no, no.” She pivoted the question and said, “But I’m really happy to be here at Champion, though! This is a good party.”

Related: Travis Kelce’s Girlfriends Before Taylor Swift Include an Ex from His Reality Dating Show

The comment comes after fans saw that Nicole reposted a video about “joy” right after the news about Kelce’s engagement to Swift broke. The sports reporter took to her Instagram Stories to share a video of Tracee Ellis Ross.

“I think joy is different from happiness,” Ross says in the video. “Happiness is something you can get at 7-Eleven, and joy is something that you earn and work for and takes practice,” the actress explains. “I think joy is an attitude. I think joy is a perspective and I think joy is a lens through which I live and look at my life.”

“Read about this very concept years ago in a book called ‘Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough’. I aspire! So so good,” Nicole responded in the video.

These days, Nicole tries to stay quiet about her relationship with Travis Kelce, whom she dated on and off from 2017 to 2022. She alluded to the relationship in a now-deleted TikTok that said, You’re not stupid Kayla. No, I am actually. Thought I’d get wifed after dating for 5 year. That’s 1,825 days.”

She’s also hinted at experienced cheating in past relationships, but didn’t name any names. During an episode of The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole back in May, she said, “You watch the Disney movies, you grow up in church. I was raised to believe that a man and woman, if they are in a relationship, if they are married, you are only intended to be with each other, and you make this agreement, this promise to one another to hold each other accountable.’

“Have I experienced that in dating and relationships in my life? No. When you are cheated on, the heartbreak and devastation that come with that. The insecurities that come with that. It can be overwhelming. In my experience, I don’t have successful, monogamous relationships without any element of cheating.”

Kelce and Swift announced their engagement on August 26, 2025. The power couple posted engagement photos in a collaborative Instagram post. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they wrote. In the photos, Travis pops the question in a lavish garden, and several photos include the “Love Story” singer posing with the ring on her finger

  • Chiefs star Xavier Worthy leaves Chargers game with shoulder injury after colliding with Travis Kelce

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Kansas City Chiefs were just three plays into their 2025 season opener in Brazil when they lost one of Patrick Mahomes’ key offensive weapons.

Wide receiver Xavier Worthy was ruled out for the remainder of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a shoulder injury – and friendly fire is what took him out.

Worthy was running a short route on third down, as was tight end Travis Kelce, when they collided into each other. Worthy got the worst of it as Kelce’s larger frame smashed into his shoulder.

Worthy was in immediate pain on the turf and could be seen on the Chiefs’ sideline hanging his right shoulder down and wincing. Trainers appeared to be pushing against it, with some speculating that it was dislocated.

While the Chiefs didn’t specify what exactly Worthy was dealing with, he walked off the field in São Paulo with a towel over his head – clearly disappointed – and never returned.

Worthy, entering his second year with the Chiefs after a solid rookie campaign, was expected to be a top target for Mahomes, especially with the six-game suspension Rashee Rice is serving to start the season.

With Worthy out, the Chiefs had some trouble moving the ball in the first half, while the Chargers quickly got off to a 10-0 lead. The Chiefs were able to get into field goal range twice for Harrison Butker to add six points to the board before halftime.

Worthy, the Chiefs’ 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Texas, tallied 59 catches for 638 yards with six touchdowns in 17 games last season.

In the playoffs, Worthy’s role increased, leading the team with 287 yards and 19 receptions over their three games. He also scored three times, including one in the 40-22 loss to the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

  • Why Teair Tart Wasn’t Ejected for Swinging on Chiefs TE Travis Kelce

    [ad_1]

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is used to taking hits over the middle of the field from linebackers and safeties, but what he’s presumably not used to is getting straight-up slapped in the face by defensive linemen.

That exact scenario played out, though, midway through the third quarter of Friday’s Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in San Paulo, Brazil, as Kelce was blocking Chargers defensive lineman Teair Tart on a third-and-1 that resulted in a Patrick Mahomes 11-yard gain.

Kelce and Tart were locked up all the way to the whistle, and as the Chiefs Pro Bowler gave him a subtle shove as the play ended, Tart retaliated by forcefully slapping Kelce right across the facemask.

Tart was hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty, but he was not ejected to she shock of many fans on social media.

While there was some confusion as to why Tart was allowed to remain in the game, former official and current NBC Sports and Amazon Prime NFL rules expert Terry McAulay explained exactly why there was no ejection.

“The decision comes from either executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent or the senior vice president of officiating, and they looked at it, and according to Walt Anderson, they said because it was an open-hand contact to the head, that was not disqualifying action,” McAulay said, via Awful Announcing.

“[The amount of force and whether it’s open or closed-handed] can come into play, but on this one, they felt that it was just an open-hand blow to the head, not a closed fist, not a punch, and they did not disqualify int his case.”

According to NFL rules, the league office has the power to tell game officials whether or not to disqualify a player if they decide a foul “for a football or non-football act called on the field is flagrant.”

  • The Real Reason Taylor Swift Is Mysteriously Skipping the VMAs Weeks After Her Surprise Engagement to Travis Kelce

    [ad_1]

She’s tied for the most Moon Person awards in history, but will Taylor Swift attend the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards? Don’t hold your breath.

Is Taylor Swift attending the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards?

E! News confirmed on September 5 that Swift will not be attending the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, where she’s nominated for Artist of the Year against performers like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Morgan Wallen. The 2025 VMAs are set to be held at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 7, 2025.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, as of writing, why Swift will miss the VMAs, fans speculate that she’s skipping the event because she’ll be in Brazil for her fiancé Travis Kelce‘s first NFL game of the 2025-2026 season. Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, for which he plays as a tight end, is set to compete against the Los Angeles Chargers at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo. Karol G is set to perform the halftime show.

If Swift does win Artist of the Year at the 2025 VMAs, she’ll make history as the most awarded performer of all time with 31 awards. Both she and Beyonce are currently tied with 30 awards each.

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - SEPTEMBER 12: Taylor Swift accepts the Song of the Year award for

Swift is also busy on both the personal and professional fronts. In August 2025, she announced her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights.” Swift also announced her engagement to Kelce in an Instagram post. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” she captioned a series of photos from her and Kelce’s engagement.

“Taylor and Travis’ friends are thrilled for them, and a lot of them found out about the engagement right after it happened,” a source told People of Kelce and Swift’s engagement in September 2025. “Keeping it quiet wasn’t easy but now that it’s out, everyone’s just excited.”

The insider continued, “It has been a relief not having to keep it a secret anymore and they are glad it is out in the open. Both families are overjoyed. There were toasts, happy tears and everyone is thrilled for them. Friends have been stopping by and sending little gifts. It has all been intimate, nothing over the top.”

Another source told People in August 2025 that Swift and Kelce aren’t currently wedding planning. “Taylor and Travis have been in celebration mode ever since the engagement,” the source said. “They are not in the wedding planning phase yet.” The insider continued, “Right now they just want to enjoy being engaged and they are going to take their time with it. It has been a relief not having to keep it a secret anymore, and they are glad it is out in the open.”

Kelce’s dad, Ed Kelce, also detailed how the proposal happened in an interview on the radio show, “The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma.” “They were going out to dinner and she was ready to go and he said, ‘Let’s go out in the garden on the patio and have a glass of wine before we go,’” he said. “I think she knew something was up because as they walked out there, she could see, suddenly, there were a lot more flowers out there.” He continued, “These are two young people madly in love with each other, and I think this is great.”

  • Travis Kelce says

    [ad_1]

After getting engaged to Taylor Swift last month, Travis Kelce spoke about it for the first time on his New Heights podcast that dropped Wednesday.

Kelce said the word “fiancé” hits different for him now.

“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” Kelce told his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, on the podcast.

Swift and Kelce have dominated the spotlight since they began dating two years ago.

“It’s been so much fun hearing from everybody, seeing the internet go crazy,” he said.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Swift watched his alma mater, the Cincinnati Bearcats, just days after announcing the proposal on social media.

“I felt that at the game, it was my first time introducing Taylor as my fiancé to a few of my teammates – so yeah, it was pretty cool,” Kelce said. “I still get giddy … It’s exciting times.”

    Engagement details

The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 26, which was 13 days after Swift appeared on the New Heights podcast and revealed her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”

Kelce’s dad, Ed, told News 5 Cleveland that the two got engaged roughly two weeks prior to the social media announcement.

Kelce proposed to Swift at his Missouri home. Photos from the proposal show a garden filled with pink and white flowers.

A representative for Swift said Kindred Lubeck designed the engagement ring.

    Super Bowl speculation

Fans think this season may be Swift’s year to shine at the Super Bowl as the halftime performer.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell did not rule out the possibility on Wednesday.

“I can’t tell you anything about it,” Goodell said. “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”

No performer has been announced yet for the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Swift is expected to be in Brazil this weekend to cheer on Kelce and the Chiefs during their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

  • The Complete Guide to Taylor Swift Engagement Takes

    [ad_1]

    Writes People’s Erin Hill:

For two years, their romance has felt like a modern fairytale, unfolding with the kind of public fascination usually reserved for Buckingham Palace balconies and Westminster Abbey aisles. Now, with an engagement ring in play (designed by Travis!), it’s not a stretch to say: this might be the closest thing America gets to a royal wedding. And maybe, just maybe, that’s exactly what we need right now. …

America doesn’t have a monarchy, but Meghan’s royal wedding to Harry proved how deeply we crave the pageantry. And the marriage of music’s reigning queen to football’s most charismatic star has the potential to deliver the pomp and unity of a royal wedding — without the tiaras, but with just as much sparkle.

The Daily Beast’s Kevin Fallon can’t wait for it to blot out the sun:

Congrats to Taylor and Travis on their love and partnership, or whatever. But this has long not been about them. We need this.

We need the escapism, the permission to feel emotional over the engagement between two people we have never met. We need the parasocial excitement, as if we’re a part of their close circle of love and community that this union will bless.

We need the cheesiness of the photo shoot in that Secret Garden fever-dream set, and of Taylor’s gloriously corny caption. We need the fantasy and the glamor of knowing how absolutely filthy rich and fabulously famous these people are, so we can daydream about their lavish wedding and ensuing married life.

And we need all of this to be as absolutely basic as everything about this all has become in order to relate. So millennial is Taylor Swift that, despite being the biggest star in the world marrying one of the most successful athletes in modern times, she still wants to have a lil’ engagement photo shoot and post it on her Insta with a perfunctory “did at thing!” caption. …

This is our royal wedding. This is our Will and Kate, our Harry and Meghan. The media will be insatiable in its coverage of it. Social media will be a circus, surely unable to wrangle its clowns into the tent. There will be celebration and mockery—and I think that’s all kind of fun.

Swift is no stranger to Arrowhead Stadium, as it was the stage for the beginning of their love story.

The pair began dating during Swift’s landmark Eras Tour after Kelce was thwarted in his first attempt to meet Swift at her concert at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023 – a fact he made public during an episode of his “New Heights” podcast. But by September of that year, Swift was back at the stadium, cheering on Kelce alongside his mother.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William Confirm Their Excitement About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement

    [ad_1]

This wasn’t the first time William and Swift met. On November 26, 2013, they duetted at the Winter White Gala at Kensington Palace, belting out the Jon Bon Jovi hit “Livin’ On a Prayer” to benefit charity. “He was very nice. I was really glad to have met him,” Swift said at the time. Years later, in a 2021 interview, William remembered his impromptu rock star moment. “I went to a charity fundraising gala for Centrepoint,” he said, where “Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are at the event, which nearly knocked me off my feet.”

“I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause, and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing,’” he remembered. “To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.’”

William was “a little scared,” Taylor had recounted. The prince was even clearer: “Beneath my black tie, there was a lot of sweating going on. I felt like a swan, where I was trying to keep myself composed on the outside, but inside, the little legs are paddling fast. When I do speeches and things like that, I’ve done so many now, they’re not a problem. But I’ve not done singing. At times, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you’ve got to roll with it.”

Given her years of history with William, beginning with encouraging him to step out of that royal comfort zone, then, it’s no surprise that Swift has received that royal blessing for her and Kelce’s happy news.

Just hours after news broke that the pop superstar and NFL tight end were engaged, Stewart, 84, made her pitch loud and clear in a viral Instagram post – and she brought wine.

The lifestyle mogul shared a cheeky split-screen post featuring a snapshot from Swift and Kelce’s romantic engagement shoot alongside a video of herself sipping a glass of white wine, which she casually dubbed “the nectar of the Gods.”

Whether or not Swift and Kelce will take her up on the offer is still unknown, but fans are already imagining the floral arrangements and cake towers that could come with a Stewart-led celebration.

  • No hoax this time with news of Taylor and Travis engagement

    [ad_1]

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has been falsely accused of a laundry list of absurdities: Doing “satanic rituals” at her shows. Being a government “psyop.” But this time, the news about her is true: She’s engaged to be married.

Swift posted a series of photos on Instagram Aug. 26, showing her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is also no stranger to being targeted by misinformation. Even Kelce’s father, Ed, has occasionally fallen for false headlines about the couple.

We looked back at their love story through the lens of claims that would’ve, could’ve, should’ve been true, but weren’t.

Swift wasn’t banned from Chiefs games

Rumors of a Swift-Kelce romance began in August 2023, and proved true the following month when Swift attended a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.

Since then, social media posts have often falsely declared that Swift was banned from football games. One June 2024 variation said conservative commentator Candace Owens tried to ban Swift from the NFL because of being “awfully woke,” but that originated with satire.

    Sign up for PolitiFact texts

A year after Swift started attending Chiefs games, Facebook posts broke what seemed like the salacious news that Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid criticized Swift for not being a “good role model.” And another Facebook post said the Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt banned Swift from attending games, supposedly calling her the team’s “biggest distraction.”

But these claims appeared on satire pages, too, and were reshared without that context. Reid had previously praised Swift, saying he thinks her relationship with Kelce was “great for him,” and Hunt said the two make a “fantastic couple.” We rated the claims False.

Swift and Kelce didn’t respond to controversial Elon Musk statement

During the 2024 presidential election, Swift endorsed Democratic nominee and then-Vice President Kamala Harris, which elicited a controversial reaction from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, then a supporter of Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk wrote in a Sept. 11, 2024, X post.

Social media posts got in on the action, proclaiming that Kelce then threatened that  he could “twist (Musk) into a pretzel.” But PolitiFact found no evidence Kelce made such a post.

A separate claim said Swift responded to Musk’s post by saying she’s happy to take Musk’s estranged transgender daughter and “give her all the love and respect she deserves.” But our sweep of Swift’s social media statements showed the superstar didn’t say that.

Another claim in November 2024 said Kelce announced he was leaving X, which Musk owns, calling it Musk’s “hate machine” and a “‘toxic waste dump’ after his scathing and hurtful comments about Taylor Swift.” We found no such announcement from Kelce, either.

Claims circulated about Swift’s politics and relationships with other celebrities

In October 2024, a Facebook post said Swift broke down, apologizing and asking Kelce for forgiveness as she admitted to “having done immoral things” with disgraced music magnate Sean “Diddy” Combs. But we found no news reports, statements or interview footage that prove she said that.

In February, the Chiefs faced off with the Philadelphia Eagles for Super Bowl LIX, which the Eagles won. But days before the game, a rumor circulated that Swift was banned from attending, because she was “distracting and woke.” But there was no proof of that. On game day, Swift, a Pennsylvania native, was in attendance, enduring boos from the crowd.

Social media users also said Trump weighed in on Swift’s and Kelce’s relationship on the day of the Super Bowl, supposedly writing on Truth Social that Swift’s presence was a “distraction for Travis Kelce.” That was a fake post, although Trump had posted about Swift numerous times, including about her support of his Democratic rivals.

In June, when “No Kings” rallies popped up across the country protesting Trump and his administration, social media posts shared photos that they said showed the couple joining in. We rated those claims Pants on Fire!

  • Taylor Swift is in her engagement era. Will it give the economy a boost? – National | Globalnews.ca

    [ad_1]

The global economy may be trying to get Out Of The Woods, but a celebrity wedding might just be what it needs to Shake It Off after pop star Taylor Swift announced her engagement to two-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce.

The news is spurring hope that it could bring a much-needed boost to retail sales and consumer spending.

Swift’s impact on local economies and retail has long been the subject of study, with one estimate claiming that the singer-songwriter’s 2023 U.S. tour may have generated US$4.6 billion in total consumer spending, larger than the GDP of 35 countries.

A report dubbed Swiftonomics: Eras Tour Impact on Colorado found that Swift’s two shows in July led to a US$140-million boost to the state’s GDP for the year.

Canada, too, was left feeling the Lavender Haze from the performer’s shows here.

    Story continues below advertisement

Payment processing firm Moneris released data indicating downtown Vancouver saw a 154 per cent increase in spending levels during her Eras Tour in 2024 — a spike not seen since the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the report said.

Clothing stores saw a 923 per cent increase in sales, while sales of cosmetics rose 529 per cent. Variety stores saw a 178 per cent increase in sales volumes.

Swift and Kelce’s engagement has the potential to garner as much attention, if not more, than the Eras Tour, some experts argue.

“Taylor Swift actually broke Instagram for a little bit. Meta put out a report that they had some outages because this was one of the most-liked Instagram posts ever,” said Bree McEwan, a professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology.

“You have two very, very involved fandoms who are coming together — more the Swifties than the NFL guys — to celebrate a relationship that they’ve been watching for a while.”

Less than 24 hours after the couple announced their engagement, e-commerce platform Etsy was flooded with Taylor-Travis merchandise.

    Story continues below advertisement

Images of the couple holding each other, touching foreheads, are emblazoned on T-shirts and sweatshirts selling for as much as $100 on the site.

Other merch includes onesies for babies with the text, “My English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,” a reference to Swift and Kelce’s Instagram caption announcing their engagement.

McEwan said Swift’s fandom — or Swifties, as they like to dub themselves — are particularly suited for a merchandise boom. That’s because of Swift’s proclivity for catchy lyrics and Easter eggs hidden throughout her music and engagement with the public.

“Taylor Swift fans have their own sort of secret language and secret code,” she said.

The 2018 wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle is said to have added 1.05 billion pounds, or US$1.43 billion, to the British economy.

But the impact of individual artists or events on the broader economy might be overstated, said Moshe Lander, economist at Concordia University.

“Taylor Swift is the 21st-century answer to Madonna,” he said.

“We would go crazy when she (Madonna) was releasing her album or when she was making headlines in the tabloids for who she was dating. Did it improve our quality of life? Is the Gen X standard of living better because of the Madonna effect? No, of course not,” he said.

While the impact around a major event could help retail sales in some sectors, it might hurt others.

“They (fans) have to take their disposable income from somewhere else to move it towards the tickets,” he said, citing the example of the Eras Tour shows in Toronto.

For example, someone spending money on Eras Tour tickets or merchandise might choose to delay spending money in other areas, such as on a home renovation or eating out. This is because without the pot growing, most people have the same amount of money to spend on discretionary expenses.

“The economic impact of Taylor Swift might be positive in and around the Rogers Centre. But it’s negative in and around the Eaton Centre,” Lander added.

    Story continues below advertisement

Swift, Kelce and their marketing team have been careful not to alienate fans who might be feeling the pinch in their pocketbooks, McEwan said.

“This is a depressed economy, and it’s not going to resonate with her fans if she has very over the top and very expensive and very gaudy kinds of choices,” she added.

Economic observers should be wary of overstating the impact, Lander cautioned.

“She is not an economic engine for anything other than herself, as she should be,” he said.

“You’re already seeing it with the engagement ring, right? That’s a really unusual cut,” McEwan said.

“If you are currently thinking about engagement rings and wedding dresses, you’re going to see the things that Taylor showcases to her fans,” she added.

A sparkling diamond ring can be seen on Taylor Swift’s finger. According to some reports, it is an old mine brilliant cut designed by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. Swift can be seen wearing a watch to go with the look, with a golden strap and a rectangular white dial, a style that complements her ring.

Montreal-based Chateau D’Ivoire, a high-end jeweller, said its clients have been asking them about similar designs, less than 24 hours after Swift posted a picture of her engagement ring.

“They’ve been talking with me about the size, the cushion cut, the style, the design and how they designed it,” said Rachel Zhang, sales professional at Chateau D’Ivoire.

“She was wearing a vintage Cartier watch, to match her vintage engagement ring, which is stunning. This could be a timeless piece forever,” she said, adding that they’ve also been getting inquiries about watches.

The internet is already abuzz, McEwan said.

“There’s already entire Reddit boards devoted to what this ring is and how much it costs and how can you get a cushion cut like that,” she said.

But most people can’t afford a billionaire’s taste in jewelry.

“Not everyone can afford the kind of luxury that Taylor can afford,” McEwan said.

“What you’ll see is different (cheaper) spinoffs on the trends,” she added.

Etsy sellers are already trying to cash in, with fake-diamond rings that look like Swift’s ring being sold for as little as $300. Even high-end jewellers are trying to cater to different customer bases.

“Not many people will go looking for that big a cut. Taylor is wearing 13 carats. That’s a huge stone. From our experience, people are looking for something around one carat or two carats. Even three carats is rare,” Zhang said.

However, McEwan added that Swifties should temper their expectations about how much the couple may want to broadcast.

“She’s got a huge marketing team behind her and they’re very savvy at thinking through what pieces do they show and what do they not show,” she said, adding that Swift is particularly wary of fans developing parasocial relationships with her.

“She has to manage it very carefully because people can get over-involved,” McEwan added.

  • Your guide to the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce engagement

    [ad_1]

A bejeweled Taylor Swift broke Instagram records Tuesday as the pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement in a joint post.

Fans have been eager to learn everything they can about the engagement into the lead-up to this TBD white veil occasion.

Here’s what we know so far about your English teacher and gym teacher’s engagement:

When did Swift and Kelce get engaged?

The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 13 days after Swift’s “New Heights” episode dropped. Fans were quick to speculate about when Kelce popped the question — and they didn’t have to wait long before getting a timeline from Kelce’s dad Ed, who told News 5 Cleveland that the couple got engaged roughly two weeks ago.

Ed said he was at the Philadelphia Eagles’ public practice on Aug. 10 when he got a FaceTime from the newly engaged couple. He told “The Jimmy & Nath Show” that Travis had planned to propose next weekend.

“He was going to make a big production out of it,” Ed shared, explaining that Travis wanted it to be “uber special.”

“And I told him the same thing [Swift’s dad] Scott told him: Asking her is what’s going to make it special, not where you do it. You could do it on the side of the road.”

Ed said Swift’s dad told him to “just get it done.”

Where did Kelce pop the question?

Kelce proposed on the grounds of his $6 million Missouri home, which he purchased back in 2023. The engagement photos show a dramatic display of flowers adorning an arch and surrounding the couple.

Florist Ashley Greer told People Magazine that the “enchanted garden” scene, which featured thousands of flowers, likely cost nearly $40,000. Also featured — ivy and willow, a likely nod to two songs off Swift’s ninth studio album, “evermore.”

What do we know about the ring?

Kelce skipped the paper rings and went for a custom old mine brilliant cut in a yellow gold bezel setting. Swift’s representative said New York based goldsmith Kindred Lubeck, who specializes in hand engraving, designed the ring.

Old mine brilliant cuts are often boxy shaped with rounded corners and soft curved edges. They usually have 58 large facets and the style dates to the 18th century. The bulky nature of the cut was intended to sparkle by candlelight.

    Where it all began

As Swifties and Chief fans alike already know, their relationship began after Kelce’s failed attempt to meet Swift at Arrowhead Stadium. He talked about the show in a July 2023 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, telling his brother Jason Kelce that he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to give her a friendship bracelet he had made with his number on it.

After the episode aired, Swift heard from people close to Kelce, including Chiefs coach Andy Reid, encouraging her to reach out to him. And the rest is history.

On Swift’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which aired Aug. 13 and smashed Guinness World records, she said the friendship bracelet gesture made her feel like she was in a 1980s John Hughes movie.

“[It’s like] he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?’” she said. “I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy … this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”

“This podcast has done a lot for me,” she said. “This podcast got me a boyfriend.”
