Deerhoof Announce First Japanese-Language Album, Share New Video

    [ad_1]

Deerhoof have announced a new album titled Miracle-Level. It’s their first Japanese-language LP and first full-length made entirely in a proper recording studio. It’s due out March 31 via Joyful Noise. Ahead of that release date, Deerhoof have shared lead single “Sit Down, Let Me Tell You a Story,” which comes with a music video directed by Noriko Oishi. You can check it out below (via The Fader).

Over the span of two weeks last July, Miracle-Level was recorded with engineer and producer Mike Bridavsky at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. “I began listening through their albums and realized: I have no fucking idea how to make a Deerhoof record. Did anyone? They’d assembled a catalog of thoughtful, wild, and unique records, each different from the one before,” said Bridavsky in a statement. “Satomi [Matsuzaki], Ed [Rodríguez], John [Dieterich], and Greg [Saunier] tried something different on this record, and the result is Deerhoof at their most sparse and vulnerable.” As for the decision to sing in Japanese on the new album, that comes from lead singer Satomi Matsuzaki, who speaks the language natively.

After the release of their album, Deerhoof will embark on an 18-date headlining tour of North America. It begins in Toronto on March 31 and includes shows in major U.S. cities before wrapping up on July 14 in Chicago. Find a complete list of their tour dates below.

OFF! Announce Rescheduled North American Tour Dates

    [ad_1]

OFF! have announced rescheduled dates for a North American tour the group had originally planned for the fall. The updated monthlong run in support of September’s Free LSD begins on April 28. See the new itinerary below.

Free LSD is the first new album from the group since 2014’s Wasted Years, featuring drummer Justin Brown and bassist Autry Fulbright II as new members. OFF! were set to begin a tour in Phoenix, Arizona in late October, but upon Brown’s hospitalization for “a non-Covid-related emergency,” they scuttled the first leg of dates. The band’s previously announced December shows on the West Coast are in progress as scheduled.

In addition to the album, OFF! made a feature film called Free LSD. It’ll premiere at Utah’s Slamdance Film Festival in January.

  • Ticketmaster Issues Apology After “Unprecedented” Ticket Fraud at Bad Bunny Concert in Mexico City

Ticketmaster Issues Apology After “Unprecedented” Ticket Fraud at Bad Bunny Concert in Mexico City

    [ad_1]

Bad Bunny fans with tickets purchased through Ticketmaster were left stranded outside his sold-out concert in Mexico City Friday night (December 9) when security claimed that numerous people had fake, duplicated tickets, or canceled tickets. Vulture and CNN report that hundreds of fans were denied entry to the venue, the 80,000+ capacity Estadio Azteca, and images from the concert on social media depicted large swaths of empty seats at the sold-out show. Pitchfork has contacted representatives for Bad Bunny and Ticketmaster for comment.

In a statement posted to the verified Ticketmaster Mexico account, the company apologized to ticket-holders, claiming an “unprecedented” number of false tickets overwhelmed their systems, legitimate ticket-holders were denied entry, and that refunds would be provided to ticket-holders if their electronic records showed they were unable to enter the stadium. Estadio Azteca issued their own statement, stating that Ticketmaster’s system reported tickets that were duplicated or falsified, and to “guarantee the safety” of attendees, all of those tickets were canceled.

In its statement, Ticketmaster said it had contacted PROFECO, Mexico’s consumer protection agency, and promised to assist law enforcement in preventing ticket fraud, but offered no details of how legitimate ticket-holders could prevent being denied entry to future shows. Estadio Azteca is scheduled to host another sold-out Bad Bunny concert tonight (December 11).

Billboard also ran their own report on the incident at Estadio Azteca, quoting one fan who had traveled a long distance and paid hundreds of dollars to attend the concert, only to be turned away at the entrance.

Recent shows on Bad Bunny’s El Ultimo Tour del Mundo rank among the most lucrative concerts in history. Billboard reports he sold more than 944,000 tickets and grossed more than $232 million from 21 concerts in 15 cities—more than $10 million per show. His two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium sit behind George Strait’s 2014 farewell show in Arlington, Texas, as the highest-grossing U.S. concerts ever.

Ticketmaster has been at the center of more than one ticketing controversy as of late; last month, the company had to cancel the public on-sale date for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour due to “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems” and an insufficient number of remaining tickets. Multiple of Swift fans are now suing Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation over the fiasco, while the United States Department of Justice opened an antitrust investigation into Live Nation Entertainment.

Ticketmaster’s monopoly in the ticketing field will also be examined by Senators Amy Klobuchar and Mike Lee, who are  leading a new subcommittee investigating the lack of competition in ticketing markets.

  • Mclusky Postpone 2022 North American Tour

Mclusky Postpone 2022 North American Tour

    [ad_1]

hey guys – I’m afraid we’re going to have to postpone – until further notice – our US shows – and give serious consideration to our Australian dates in january. following an innocuous, fun rehearsal three weeks ago – during which, as usual, i wore ear protection – i’ve been plagued by various ear issues, tinnitus and apparent hyperacusis amongst them, and am totally unable to perform, barely able to exist in the world as we speak (the idea of getting onto a flight is particularly fucking terrifying, and i’m not just talking about the vegetarian meal options). i have taken advice from ENT doctors, audiologists and my GP and have spent more money than i’ve ever spent on anything before trying to fix this issue but so far, no dice.

we want to reschedule the dates as soon as possible, of course, but for anyone who wants one refunds are available at point of purchase. it feels mad to type those words, and i hope i never have to again, but there we are. i feel particularly bad for anyone coming to the oakland date – i’m not accustomed to cancelling to any shows at all, let alone one twice. when we make it back i’ll make everyone a fucking cake or something.

i am so, so sorry that this has happened, for all of you, for the people who have booked travel and made arrangements, for jack, damien, our wonderful crew, and everyone who wanted this to happen so much – for the other bands who we were delighted to be playing with, for our friends we haven’t seen for so long (or in some cases haven’t even met yet), for the memories we wanted to make.

the best chance we have of doing this – and doing this properly – again is for me to take the time to rest up and get as better as I can. believe me, this is not a decision which has been taken lightly – the financial fallout of this for us and me in particular is devastating, which coupled with the unlikelihood of being able to make a living doing the only thing i can do is so terrifying that i can’t even think of a joke to end this pretty long sentence. costs still need to be met, unfortunately, so i may be having a bit of a merch/poster/equipment sale soon, mostly to benefit our crew, so please, if you’re able, stay tuned for that. i was happy to say that we had been planning an album for next year (we had songs and a title AND EVERYTHING) but now, of course, that’s on hold – though not cancelled, fuck that, we’re going to do this thing, and do it right.

    falco x

ps. we’ll be making a decision on the Australian shows in the next week/ten days. apologies, again, for the uncertainty. back at you when possible.

pps. i can often be found somewhere lecturing some poor sap on the need for ear protection so let me do it again at the bottom of this whatever-the-fuck-this-is. WEAR EAR PROTECTION.

ppps. extra thanks to the people we work with – our wonderful crew, Merrick at ground control and Steph at Handsome among them – who’ve shown such kindness and understanding during this period. this love and support will not be forgotten and will be paid back, i guarantee it.

pppps. i won’t be checking messages for the next few days – this has been an exhausting time (logistically/emotionally/generally as a human) and I need to stare at a ceiling for a little while. apologies. please take care. try not to smoke. always rate uber drivers 5. don’t get ill. x

  • Travel Experts Reveal Their Best Packing Hacks

Travel Experts Reveal Their Best Packing Hacks

    [ad_1]

Seasoned travellers share their suitcase packing tips from travel wardrobe basics to practical tools and ideas, making trip planning easier than ever.

    Press Release

    Sep 9, 2022

Passionate about travel and making the whole experience as fuss-free as possible for their customers, the Inspiring Vacations team knows a thing or two about packing for a trip. From guided tours of Alaska to Scandinavia tours and everywhere in between, there are a few travel packing hacks that ensure travellers pack like a pro every time they head away on holidays. Here they share their top tips.

Inspiring Vacations suggests keeping the basics in carry-on luggage including earplugs, a light scarf and medicines to ensure travellers are comfortable on flights. A small toiletry bag containing eye drops, moisturiser and hand sanitiser is also a must for the seasoned travellers. Including a spare change of clothes is also a good idea, just in case luggage gets lost.

Using coloured packing cubes helps to keep clothes organised in the suitcase, says Inspiring Vacations, making it easy to pull out what is needed without searching all the contents of the bag. See-through bags will also come in handy for keeping dirty and wet clothes separated from the rest. For those looking for extra space in their suitcase, Inspiring Vacations recommends stashing items inside shoes, including more fragile items like perfume bottles to keep them protected.

As for what clothing to pack for a trip, Inspiring Vacations says the best thing to do is write a list. It’s a good idea to check the weather forecast and then write down all the activities, meetings, events and parties planned to avoid overpacking.

When it comes to those handy things that can help avoid hassles on a trip, the travel experts say a portable phone charger is a must. They also suggest buying a luggage scale to avoid any unwanted overweight baggage charges.

A proudly Australian-owned company, Inspiring Vacations offers an extensive range of detailed travel packages, including tours to Alaska created in partnership with their worldwide network of local travel experts. With a simple online booking system, keen travellers can easily browse the offers and find the best tour to suit them such as tours to Scandinavia, Alaska tours and more.

  • Experts Say the Travel Industry is Bouncing Back From the Pandemic Quicker Than Expected

Experts Say the Travel Industry is Bouncing Back From the Pandemic Quicker Than Expected

    [ad_1]

Following an incredibly challenging period for the travel industry, demand has surged since governments relaxed or removed restrictions that had grounded most non-essential travel since the start of the pandemic.

    Press Release

    Sep 8, 2022

According to Inspiring Vacations, leading provider of guided and group travel worldwide including tours to Egypt, tours of Cape York and everywhere in between, the travel industry is experiencing an unprecedented recovery with better than expected results posted by major travel agents and airlines.

In June, Qantas Group revealed it has reduced its net debt by $1.5 billion in just six months while Flight Centre said in a statement to ASX in July that it had returned to monthly profitability at the end of the financial year, now transacting similar values to those prior to the pandemic.

Inspiring Vacations explains the surge in demand coupled with higher than normal ticket prices caused by airlines reducing their capacity is the main reason for such a strong bounce back in the industry. The surge in demand has overwhelmed airports and airlines with travellers subject to massive queues, high rates of lost baggage and delays.

With the arrival of spring and the latest COVID wave dissipating across the country, Inspiring Vacations says there is renewed optimism amongst customers who are now feeling more confident to lock their travel bookings in. Many customers are now eager to plan trips ahead of time, which is a strong indication of the renewed confidence in the travel industry.

A recent survey of 5,000 Webjet customers found that 71% were now comfortable travelling internationally, with 64% saying they intended to head overseas in the next month.

Boasting the best-guided tours Egypt-wide as well as destinations closer to home such as Cape York tours, Inspiring Vacations offers a simple online booking system with detailed travel packages created in partnership with their worldwide network of local travel experts.

  • Unvaccinated Travellers Now Allowed Into Australia as Restrictions Ease

Unvaccinated Travellers Now Allowed Into Australia as Restrictions Ease

    [ad_1]

Australia is opening its borders to unvaccinated travellers, says Inspiring Vacations, leading provider of guided tours of Alaska, Australia and beyond.

    Press Release

    Sep 1, 2022

In July, the Australian government announced major changes to travel restrictions. The new restrictions now allow unvaccinated travellers to enter Australia as travellers no longer need to disclose their vaccination status. Inspiring Vacations, provider of tours to Scandinavia, South Korea and everywhere in between, reports on the relaxed restrictions.

Since Australia’s international borders opened in late 2021, fully vaccinated visa holders have been allowed to come and go freely. This has allowed Australians to travel overseas and visit family, friends and new places after two long years of lockdowns and tight restrictions. However, unvaccinated Australians have had to wait even longer to enjoy international travel, says Inspiring Vacations.

As of early July, unvaccinated Australians were granted permission to travel freely in and out of Australia as the country lifted its requirement for travellers to declare their immunisation status upon departure and arrival. This has also eradicated the need for the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) form, which both travellers and officials have admitted was a flawed system.

Since the relaxed restrictions came into effect, Australians have been heading overseas in hoards, say travel experts. Inspiring Vacations reports that Aussie travellers have been taking advantage of cheap travel deals – the tour provider has seen a significant uptick in Alaska tours and Scandinavia tours – amongst other destinations – as compared to the last couple of years.

Inspiring Vacations reminds travellers that although restrictions have been eased by the Australian government, other countries may not offer the same freedom. The tour provider advises travellers to double-check the Covid restrictions in their destination and consult with their travel agent or tour guide.

Planning a holiday? From helicopter tours of Cape York to hikes through the Kimberley, Australia is full of breathtaking destinations.

    Press Release

    Aug 31, 2022

Australians are finally allowed to travel again after two long years of Covid-19 lockdowns and border closures. But with the recent onslaught of flight cancellations, airline staff shortages, Passport Office delays and lost baggage on international flights, many Aussies are ditching the Egypt tours and Fijian cruises and are instead opting to explore destinations closer to home this year, says Inspiring Vacations.

Australia is typically known for its white sand beaches and surf culture – but it is actually one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. Inspiring Vacations, leading provider of tours to Cape York, Cape Town and everything in between, reports that the continent is full of red deserts, buzzing cities, pristine beaches, dense rainforests, breathtaking mountain ranges and more.

According to Inspiring Vacations, who offers holiday packages everywhere in Australia from Hobart to Cape York, tours are the best way to see everything a destination has to offer. Whether Australians want to explore the vast, beautiful coastline of Western Australia or get a taste of Melbourne’s world famous coffee, tour guides will make sure travellers are well taken care of and will be able to soak in everything there is to do, see and experience. Tours typically include sightseeing, transportation, accommodation, and meals – travellers barely have to worry about planning a thing.

The tours to Egypt and ski trips in Japan will still be there next year, says Inspiring Vacations. This year, Aussies should take some time to discover everything their own backyard has to offer instead. Inspiring Vacations is the top Australian provider of guided tours Egypt, Japan and everywhere in between. • International Borders Are Open, but Travelers Are Still Feeling Nervous – Experts Reveal Why

International Borders Are Open, but Travelers Are Still Feeling Nervous – Experts Reveal Why

    [ad_1]

Although borders are open, many Australians are nervous about the prospect of international travel. Inspiring Vacations, expert in guided tours to Egypt, Australia and beyond, shares its tips for combating that anxiety.

    Press Release

    Jul 13, 2022

International travel resumed for the first time in two years earlier in 2022, and many Australians flocked to airports to take a well-deserved holiday or visit family and friends overseas. However, there remains a significant portion of the population who is still feeling nervous about the prospect of traveling internationally. Travel expert Inspiring Vacations reveals why some Aussies are feeling wary, and shares its tips for combating travel anxiety.

For the past couple of years, Australia – in particular, Melbourne and Sydney – has been in and out of lockdowns; Covid-19 rules have been known to change suddenly and with very little warning, and Aussies have been stuck outside of their home states, stranded and begging to be let back in. In 2020 at the onset of the pandemic, Australians were even finding themselves marooned overseas, desperately trying to book flights home from foreign countries as airfares rose and restrictions tightened. Of course, this has caused some lingering apprehension when it comes to travel, says Inspiring Vacations.

However, travel experts are reassuring nervous Aussies that although their fears aren’t unfounded, they no longer have anything to be worried about. For instance, travelers can rest assured that airplanes are some of the most Covid-safe places to be as they have a better air filtration system than most buildings or other forms of transport. Coupled with Australia’s ongoing mask mandate on planes, it is highly unlikely travelers will contract Covid from a plane trip.

Inspiring Vacations suggests nervous travelers opt for a tour rather than a self-planned trip. Whether traveling close to home or as far away as Japan or Egypt, tours ensure everyone is Covid-safe and abiding by local regulations. Tours often have travel insurance included, so if anything were to go wrong, travelers are covered. Travelers will still get to enjoy all that their destination has to offer without stressing about what could go wrong.

Gopackup Just Launched 6 of the World’s Most Wonderful & Weird Tours

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 18, 2017

The world is beautiful because of all its differences: different people, different cultures, different religions, different foods and lifestyles, different colors. The more one travels; the more beauty, one will discover. This has always been the mission that Gopackup holds, by encouraging people to travel to bring more understanding to the world among different people at different places.

Here are 6 of the world’s most wonderful and weird experiences:

    1. Communist Moscow

For more than 70 years, Moscow was the capital of the huge Soviet Empire. The streets of the city are still full of remnants of the communist regime and the Cold War, and the fearsome Soviet strongholds still guard the young democracy in Russia.

Take the Communist Moscow tour to experience this period of history and see the infamous headquarters of KGB on Lubyanka and Moscow Militia on Petrovka, the museum of the Gulag concentration camp system, and other important Soviet sights in the center of the city.

    2. Perfume Workshop Singapore

Everyone likes to be different with a unique style and even smell. This interesting workshop in Singapore explores perfume and how one creates and matches a perfume to an individual.

Through this workshop, people can create their own Signature Scent or make a perfect gift for a loved one. Participants will take a personality test and match their ingredients, to make a perfume that matches the best. During this workshop, participants will make 10ml x 3 travel size + 75ml hand polished crystal bottle to take home. The smell will be a reminder of a perfect trip even after being home. Do not miss it!

    3. Venice Rowing Lessons

Parts of Venice are renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork. The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a World Heritage Site. Venice has been known as the “City of Water”.

During this tour,  row the Venetian way, see Venice from the water, experience an ancient tradition, and see Venice off the beaten track.  A gondolier is a Venetian boatman who propels a gondola, which has become an important part of Venice scenery. Take a lesson with a professional rower in a regular rowing boat. To actually be able to row the gondola is a unique experience.

Venetian rowing uses a very special technique, which calls to mind the image of a graceful and elegant gondolier. Experience the magic of sitting blissfully on the city’s waterways and becoming an active part of Venetian culture.

This tour allows participants to enjoy the beauty of Venice from a different perspective by taking part in the city’s age-old traditions, but also participants will be able to build a greater awareness of the Venetian atmosphere and heritage.

    4. Zhouzhuang Water Town Tour

Besides Venice, China has several water cities, and Zhouzhuang is one of them. If travelers would like to explore Zhouzhuang, one of China’s prettiest water towns, participants will experience a much different lifestyle. Experience a private day trip through this city’s historic streets and sinuous bridges before participants ride a rickshaw around Suzhou’s historic Pingjiang Road quarter. See what gained this historic city the title ‘Venice of the East’.

The Chinese value Zhouzhuang for its cultural heritage, ancient residential buildings, elegant watery views, and colorful local traditions and customs. Enjoy dazzling views of antique stone houses reflected in tranquil waters as participants stroll its historic streets with participants’ guide, and capture shots of vistas including the Twin Bridges, Shide and Yongan.

After returning to Suzhou, participants will visit Pingjiang Road, which is beside a narrow canal. Accompanied by a local guide, enjoy a rickshaw tour of the quarter that surrounds it. Participants will pass through a vegetable market, historic streets, and traditional buildings and see locals going about their business as participants’ guide explains the role that canals played in Suzhou’s history.

    5. Low Head Penguin Tour

The penguins found in Tasmania are the smallest of the penguin species, the noisiest, and also the only penguins with blue and white feathers (all others are black and white). Because of this, they have several names, the Little Penguin, the Blue Penguin, but the most common name they are called is the Fairy Penguin.

Low Head Penguin Tours offer a unique nature experience to get up close and personal with these penguins as they return from the pristine waters of Bass Straight to nest in their burrows within the Low Head Coastal Reserve. This Reserve has the largest penguin rookery in Tasmania, and there are penguins returning every night throughout the year. Watch them swim to the surface, stand up and preen themselves before waddling up the beach.

    6. Hilarious Rave Reviewed Drag Queen Comedy Tour

Why travelers love this tour: It is a comedy show, a pub crawl, and a walking tour (parody)! It is hosted by Drag Queen Glace Chase.  Some people who attended before claimed that “It’s like a cross between ‘This American Life’ and ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ staged as a meandering, somewhat drunken walking tour”; someone also said that it is “One of the most hilarious experiences of my entire life”.

Trek the wild Greenwich Village streets with Glace and celebrate the larger than life personalities- both gay and straight- that paved the way for today’s liberation. This rave reviewed tour will make participants laughing hysterically one moment and then crying the next in “the most unique tour travelers will ever go on.” Meet in a bar for a pre-tour drink and then just…FOLLOW THE SHOE!

TripHobo Dissects the 2016 Traveler, Predicts 2017

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 16, 2017

‘D.I.Y. Trip Planning’ rocked 2016. Reviewing the trend of the way travelers planned trips in 2016, the do-it-yourself planning seemed to be the most preferred choice for most of the travelers, especially the millennial travelers.

Focusing more on experiential travel, travelers chose to plan their trips meticulously, with more and more personalization and this has also impacted the choice of the destinations that the travelers preferred.

Summarizing the travelers data through users at TripHobo.com, there are some surprising elements of how travel evolved in 2016 and will continue to do so in 2017.

Check out the complete travel report by TripHobo.

    DIY Travelers of 2016

The majority of D.I.Y. trip plans came from countries like the United States, China and India. These countries are also predicted to be heading the leader-board for D.I.Y. plans in the coming year. European countries are not far behind. Scandinavian countries Finland, Norway and Sweden show the highest per capita DIY trips. The across-the-board increase for D.I.Y trips shows that this trend is here to stay. Surprisingly the trend is growing faster in emerging markets.

    Where People Traveled in 2016

The good old destinations like France and Italy were rock-solid on top positions, but surprisingly, there were new entrees to the list of most visited countries. More number of itineraries were planned to Japan and Russia as compared to previous years, which proves that the 2016 traveler was experimental in choosing the destination. But this didn’t keep the crowds away from the popular attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Colosseum and they continued to be the most visited attractions in the world.

Type of Accommodation Preferred in 2016

While luxury vacations are gaining immense popularity, the trend observed in 2016, was striking. Travelers ditched the conventional hotel stay and preferred to book homestays and B&Bs instead. This is evident from the 31% increase in Bed and Breakfast bookings as compared to previous years. Among hotels, 3-star was the most preferred choice over luxury hotels with 62% choosing a 3-star accommodation.

How did the 2016 Traveler Plan Trips

According to the data of TripHobo users, an average of 62% travelers chose to plan a DIY trip whereas an average of 23% Travelers chose to customize the plans created by other travelers on TripHobo. 14% of the travelers chose the conventional ready-made packages.

This DIY trend shows that fewer travelers are opting for ready-made travel packages as compared to previous years. Longer trips were planned with more care compared to the shorter ones, as evidenced by the much higher number of revisions made to itineraries of longer duration.

    Predictions for 2017

Travel as we know is going to transform in the coming years with an estimated 38% rise in the use of DIY trip plans. In terms of destinations, 36% travelers are predicted  to choose offbeat places and experiences over conventional holiday destinations. The popularity of short trips continues to rise with a predicted growth rate of almost 50% . A third of the travelers are anticipated to opt for a solo trip. Fewer than a sixth of the travelers are expected to plan an off-season trip to avoid crowd and surcharges. Homestays will continue to dominate accommodation choices with a growth of 14%.

    Hot Destinations for 2017

European destinations like Reykjavik, Salzburg, Cork, Copenhagen and Ibiza are expected to receive a larger influx of tourists in early 2017. Asian destinations like Leh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands might also garner a lot of tourist interest. Off-beat places like Mongolia and Bucharest are anticipated to see more crowds than usual whereas the popular destinations like Naples and Lisbon will continue to see more crowds.

So, what’s your idea of the perfect trip?
