Celebrities Went Full-On Gothcore for the ‘Wednesday’ Premiere

Apparently spooky season isn’t over just yet. On Wednesday (rather appropriately), stars of the forthcoming Netflix and Tim Burton series “Wednesday” gathered for a premiere in Los Angeles clad in their gothcore finest. From a sartorial perspective, they certainly did the Addams Family proud.

Jenna Ortega, who stars as titular character Wednesday Addams, wore a gothic bridal look from Versace‘s Spring 2023 collection, complete with a dramatic leg slit, lacy cutouts, a mesh veil, black nail polish and inky, dark-rimmed eye makeup.

Gap and Dapper Dan Are Launching a Holiday-ified Hoodie Collection

Just in time for the holiday season, Gap has once again partnered with legendary designer Dapper Dan for what is sure to be another highly sought-after (and quick-to-sell-out) collaboration.

The limited-edition drop is heavy on the plaid, which has been imagined in three different colorways: red, yellow and forest green. The fourth design features a mustard-colored houndstooth print. The cozy pullovers will retail for $128 and are launching with an IRL drop at Gap’s Harlem location on 125th Street on Nov. 29; a global online launch will follow on the brand’s website on Nov. 30 at 12 p.m. EST.

  • Inside the Rise of Interior, NYC’s Next Big ‘IYKYK’ Brand

Inside the Rise of Interior, NYC’s Next Big ‘IYKYK’ Brand

    [ad_1]

“Taking something really beautiful and then fucking it up”: That’s what excites Jack Miner about his work at Interior, the label he co-founded with longtime friend Lily Miesmer. Together, the two are set on redefining “specialness” — not by aspiring to prim perfection, but by taking luxurious classics and flipping them into something sharp-witted.

Since launching in 2020, Interior has slowly evolved its take on elegance from a certain crafty intricacy (Miner previously worked at Bode) towards an altogether darker vision, ultimately building to a boiling point in its first runway show this past September. The duo burned, tugged and tore at lace and silk, taking surface perfection and dragging it lithely through the gutter.

On Nov. 14, the film’s stars arrived at the premiere of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” in a parade of dazzling ensembles. Janelle Monáe and Kate Hudson both wore head-turning gowns from Elie Saab’s Fall 2022 Haute Couture collection, Monáe in a black feathered number and Hudson in a nude sequin style. A New Exhibit Reveals a Secret Collection Amassed by Azzedine Alaïa

    [ad_1]

“The Art of Draping,” the newest exhibition at the Savannah College of Art and Design‘s Museum of Fashion, reveals the secret collection of Madame Grès pieces that Azzedine Alaïa collected during his lifetime.

The iconic designer once told a good friend he only had about three pieces by the French couturier — but after Alaïa’s death in 2017, that friend, renowned curator and director of the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa Olivier Saillard, discovered there were actually over 900.

Unless you were alive between the 1940s and 1980s, it’s unlikely you’ve seen a Madame Grès original in person. While images of them exist in the archives of advertisements and Vogue, the garments themselves have been collected and preserved less. Alaïa’s dedication to collecting them, then, contributes massively to the preservation of fashion history.

Unless otherwise specified, all sizes in this post are listed in women’s.

    • A waffle knit sweater coat for anyone who’s just sent their umpteenth email of the day and is now ready to swaddle their entire being under a cozy layer that resembles the feeling of their comforter.

HuffPost may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Prices and availability are subject to change.

    A ribbed racer front tank

Available in sizes XS–XXL and 22 colors.

    Promising review:
“I really love the fit of these tanks on me. They are a super soft and thick but breathable material. I have ordered multiple colors at this point and have paired them in so many different ways. I love to wear them with long skirts for a more dressed-up look. They look great with shorts in the warm weather. I get hot very easily and though the material is warmer, I was super comfortable! These will be great for wintertime in New England as well because the fabric is thicker and comfortable! These tanks are a good length and go great tucked in or over your bottoms.” —Ashley Bonnett

    Classic roomy, high-waisted joggers

Available in sizes S–XXL and nine colors.

    Promising review:
“I am so happy I got these!! Exactly what I was looking for! Extremely comfy. I am a 6 and got a large so they would be super roomy and they are! Plenty long and pants are always short on me. Have washed and dried them and they came out perfect. Getting two more pairs and happy to see they’re even cheaper!” — Saraisme.

    Aerie

The popular pair of high-waisted crossover Aerie leggings

TikTok caused these leggings to sell out once, so you might want to run to grab a pair before it happens again. Available in sizes XXS–XXL, long, short, and in three colors and patterns.

Promising review: “Most comfortable leggings. I love AE because they make short lengths that actually fit me (4′ 11″). These leggings are lightweight, super stretchy, and perfect for lounging. I am definitely going to buy a couple more pairs!” — Aerie customer

    Trendy baggy overalls

    Available in sizes S–3XL and 21 colors/patterns.

    Promising review:
I have bought four of these, now, in different colors. I originally thought I might feel frumpy, but I wanted something loose-fitting to allow airflow. I never fail to receive a compliment when wearing these out and about. They are very cute jumpers! For the price, the fit, and the quality, they’re worth buying. The material seems to be linen which is very breathable, but is thick enough that I don’t worry about it being see-through. I highly recommend these to anyone, any size!” — M. morson

    Free People

An FP Movement printed fleece jacket

Available in sizes XS–XL and 10 patterns.

    Promising review:
“Best running around town jacket! Love love love this jacket! It’s so comfy and soft while also keeping you warm and snuggly. Deep pockets are a plus. Made to feel a little baggy — great for over a sweater. Highly recommend!” — Free People customer

    High-waisted flares

Available in sizes S–XXL and in 16 colors.

A multipack of warm and fuzzy socks

Available in packs of four, five, seven and in 36 styles.

    Promising review:
“These fluffy socks are so cuddly and warm, plus they are thin enough that I can wear them like regular socks in my shoes. I also love the fact of the softness at the top where other socks have restricting elastic bands that can cut into your skin. These fit just right!! I had ordered one four-pack and just received my SECOND order of two MORE four-packs. I love these THAT much!! Thank you for a great product!” — Diane

    Amazon

    A long-sleeved jumpsuit

Available in sizes S–XXL and 15 colors.

    Promising review:
“I love this jumper. Super comfy, perfect fit. The waist is a string tie (not elastic!), which I really like. Elastic waistbands can sometimes be too tight even on comfortable clothes so the string is great. The ankles and wrists are stretchy with the perfect amount of ‘give’ so I can get my feet and hands in and out easily. The fabric is lightweight and easy to move, dance, yoga in. Of course, it’s a v-neck so I wear a cami, sports top or halter underneath. And pockets!” — Debbie

    Superfit Hero

I just got home from a 3-day backpacking trip (28 miles and 6000’ gain) and I wore these leggings the entire time. From fording a river, to hoisting myself over downed logs, and even sleeping, they fit comfortably and securely. No snags, rips, or thinning. My phone even stayed in the pocket while I pooped in a hole in the ground. I can’t recommend these highly enough.” — Gina R.

Available in sizes S–XXL and in 24 colors.

    Promising review:
“Oh man, this thing is SO soft and smooshy…I LOVE it. I’m really happy with this cozy little jacket. It still manages to be big and slouchy, and it’s just SO SOFT. I can’t decide whether to just wear it around the house or out — it’s definitely a casual look, but it would work either way.” — Wrenn M.

    A pair of high-waisted quick-dry running shorts

BuzzFeed Shopping editor Emma Lord loves hers: “I recently bought these shorts because I’m in love with the similar ones you can get at Old Navy, but they sell out so fast. Turns out, I love these even more! I love the huge range of colors you can buy these in (at other places, they often sell out too quickly to get to pick!), love that the high-waistedness of them meets about where my running crop top ends, so I don’t have to go wild with sunscreen, and love love loooooove the side pocket for my keys or face mask. I only have them in purple so far, but I’m excited to try other colors!” Available in sizes XS–3XL and 40 colors.

Promising review: “LOVE these shorts!! They look and feel just like my Lulus!! Wore them around the house and to work out and they’ve held up and are comfy! Love the side pocket-perfect size for key cards. Size up If you’re in between sizes!” — Cddd

    Never Fully Dresssed

    A belted jumpsuit

    Amazon

    A cool-to-touch bamboo sleepwear set

Available in sizes S–4X, S-L petite, and in 12 colors.

    Promising review:
“I will never buy another pair of warm weather pjs again other than these. I needed pjs that were cool and comfortable, but I often found that the fabric of other pjs would rapidly get worn, pilled, and rough. These silky soft PJs have been going strong for months now through countless hot flashes and heat waves when it would get into the 80s in our bedroom. If you are a hot-blooded person and need to cool down, I can’t recommend these PJs enough. I literally never leave reviews but felt compelled to preach to others the good word of Latuza’s PJs. I was even so impressed with them that I got a second pair the following week and two more pairs for my Mama and sis. I plan on buying all the special ladies in my life their own sets this coming holiday season.” — Margery

    Lululemon

    The TikTok-approved Lululemon scuba hoodie

Available in sizes XS/S–XL/XXL and in 10 colors.

    Promising review
: “TikTok wasn’t joking when they were hyping this up. I’ve wanted a scuba for years and a cropped version PLUS a half zip was too good to pass up. I am so excited to wear this! It’s so soft, cute, and baggy, which I am a fan of. I love me a comfy hoodie in the cold winter months. So excited to put this to use!” — macefaceee

A huggably soft two-piece cuffed sleeve and shorts set

Available in sizes XS–XXL and 26 colors.

    Promising review:
“I love this set! It’s so cute and great quality. I love it regardless. The top can actually be worn with jeans or athletic leggings which is a huge bonus. All in all, I love it.” — Amazon customer

    A simple T-shirt dress

Available in sizes S–3XL and 42 colors.

    Promising review:
“I love this dress; it is the fourth I bought (they come in beautiful different patterns). It’s comfortable, the fabric is light and soft, it does NOT wrinkle (not even after being in my suitcase for six hours!).” — Mindful

    Hackwith Design House

    A Hackwith Design House shirt

Hackwith Design House is a woman-owned small business that creates made-to-order apparel. This shirt can be worn as a V-neck, off-the-shoulder, boatneck, V-back, and even open as a jacket. And the color is simple, which means it can be paired well with many different bottoms. Available in sizes XS–4X and in five colors.

BuzzFeed Shopping editor Chelsea Stuart says: “I have this shirt and I *love* it. All credit for its discovery goes to TikToker @jennifer.bianca who I happened to stumble across on my FYP. It checks all my boxes: black, comfortable, versatile, and durable. My initial worry was that I wouldn’t feel secure in it (I have a 38DDD chest and most wrap tops/dresses I’ve tried haven’t stayed where they’re supposed to), but I haven’t had an issue with this! I’ve worn it tied in the front giving me a square neck (like the middle picture) and tied in the back giving me a V-neck up front (just like the photo on the right) — both were super comfortable, and I didn’t have to adjust myself at all. As someone whose weight fluctuates, I also appreciate that this piece can handle pounds gained and lost. The fabric is medium weight, so I’ll be wearing it season to season, and there’s just enough elasticity in the arms that if you roll up your sleeves, they won’t fall back down. All that is to say trust that I will be buying additional colors!

A maxi dress with a side slit

Available in sizes 14–26 and 26 colors.

    Promising review:
“Fits great and is comfy! I never do reviews, but this dress is a gem! It’s roomy, and the pockets are deep enough for my phone and glasses. The fabric is soft and lightweight. If you want a slouchy, oversized look, size up. I will likely order in other colors. Yay!” — PSC

  • Tank Tops Are The “Boring” Fashion Trend That Your Favorite Celebs Love

Tank Tops Are The “Boring” Fashion Trend That Your Favorite Celebs Love

    [ad_1]

Going-out tops, be gone! Fall is here, but I’m making the most out of those final delicious temperate days. Savvy strategic layering starts with my “top” performing transitional piece: the humble white tank top.

If you think a plain white tank is boring, think again. It’s a soothing balm that counters current maximalist trends. It’s endlessly versatile — complimenting your flashier pieces or serving as a minimal base for literally any aesthetic.

Finally, a piece that truly stands the test of time! It’s not tied to any “aesthetic,” it’s not owned by any gender, and it’s not going out of style any time soon.

According to the New York Times, the garment’s history as underwear lends an air of intimacy and brazen sexuality. “Worn in a straightforward, unironic fashion, it can read as either masculine or feminine — easily evoking the hackneyed image of the swaggering brute or a vixen eagerly courting the male gaze. Yet it can also be worn in a way that slyly undermines traditional gender roles, as demonstrated by its popularity among LGBTQ. people.”

But it’s fall, you might argue. And yes, I know. But the benefit of layering season is that you can wear a white tank as your base layer, then artfully assemble cardigans, jackets, and coats over it. And on those last, lingering, warm days, bare your shoulders in delight.

I wore a white tank all summer and felt both comfortable and chic. I’ve amassed quite a few over the years, so, of course, I play favorites. The Hanes white tank is my desert island fashion pick, and it’s on Amazon for less than $11!

No matter what I wear with a white tank, I’m instantly dapper. It’s giving effortlessly cool. It’s disarmingly bold. It’s also super convenient — goodbye to decision fatigue.

Plus, no matter where I travel, I pack a bunch of different white tanks in a small corner of my suitcase for lightweight outfit options. No matter what else I bring, I end up choosing the tank.

Why wouldn’t I? There’s no shortage of ways to style the ubiquitous white tank top.

A classic silhouette is often perfected by an equally classic brand. In the 70s, as the tank top eschewed undergarment status and blasted into the mainstream, Hanes rechristened it the athletic shirt, or the “A-shirt.”

Hanes makes the best white tank because they’ve been doing it forever. And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Instead, ship it straight to your door with Amazon.

Add it to your fall rotation now, and you won’t look back. Get yours from Amazon before winter — when no amount of layering will save you.

Need some styling inspo? Here’s how some of our favorite celebs style this staple piece:

All products featured are independently selected by our editors. Things you buy through our links may earn us a commission.

    Marlon Brando

Valerie Steele — director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology — told the NYTs that Marlon Brando is an iconic originator of this look. “It has an allure because of this whole macho, Marlon Brando kind of feeling, and then, also, a very strong butch lesbian feeling to it. So it’s vernacular clothing with a strong sexual charge, and that’s somewhat transgressive.”

    Beyonce and Normani

Tank tops were big in early 2000s, but one of the most epochal looks was Beyonce’s white tank and denim shorts with red heels in the Crazy in Love music video. Just the thought of the song conjures up the image of Beyonce strutting in this simple yet unforgettable outfit. This is why Normani borrowed it in her 2019 Motivation music video for her song. Icons recognize icons.

    Emma Chamberlain

Speaking of outfit formulas, Emma Chamberlain has professed her love for white tank tops as part of her 3-piece outfit formula. And who are we to argue?

    Jonathan Majors

In his recent shoot for Men’s Health ahead of the upcoming Creed 3, Jonathon Majors brings that Marlon Brando sexual energy tenfold. Yet he also seems casual and approachable, showcasing the duality of this wardrobe staple.

    Shawn Mendes

Dubbed “Headband Coffee Mug” by Deuxmoi for his signature quarantine accessories, Shawn Mendes should also be known for his frequent white-tank-top-wearage. Tank tops are to Shawn what white tees are to Carmy in Hulu’s The Bear.

  • Gwyneth Paltrow Offers Sound Advice to Brad Pitt About His New Skin Care Line

Gwyneth Paltrow Offers Sound Advice to Brad Pitt About His New Skin Care Line

    [ad_1]

Gwyneth Paltrow stepped out on Tuesday evening to attend the opening-night celebration of Veuve Clicquot’s “Solaire Culture” exhibition, a traveling showcase that made its way to Los Angeles to commemorate the Champagne house’s milestone 250th anniversary and pay tribute to Madame Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, who took control of Veuve Clicquot Champagne at age 27 in 1805 after the death of her husband. She became one of the very first female business leaders during a time when women were not allowed to manage a company or open a bank account.

“Her story is really inspiring. She’s an example of what can happen when entrepreneurs, especially female entrepreneurs, don’t take no for an answer,” said Paltrow, who attended the opening on Rodeo Drive alongside guests including Gal Gadot, Laura Harrier, and Charlie’s Angels actor Ella Balinska, who DJ’d the party. “I think we can all learn from her story.”

To honor Madame Clicquot’s pioneering achievements—she created the first known blended rosé Champagne—art historian Camille Morineau and designer Constance Guisset gathered 10 female artists to commission original artwork for “Solaire Culture,” an immersive exhibition that salutes female audacity and invokes joy and optimism. Among the artists whose works are featured in the exhibit—opening October 26—are Yayoi Kusama, Rosie McGuinness, Sheila Hicks, and Tacita Dean, who all offered their unique vision of Madame Clicquot’s daring entrepreneurial ethos, which has paved the way for generations of female business leaders.

Like Madame Clicquot, Paltrow has pivoted, transitioning from an Oscar-winning acting career to the lifestyle and wellness industry as the founder and CEO of Goop. More than a decade after Paltrow started her company in 2008, it’s grown from a weekly newsletter into a brand valued at an estimated $250 million.

“What I love about being an entrepreneur is the agency that you have, and I also love working with a team,” said Paltrow on the arrivals carpet prior to viewing the exhibition. “Acting is very much a solo sport and to be able to really build something with a group of people that you care about and invest in, and all the different points of view, and all the different expertise, and galvanize everybody focused on the same thing makes it a very rewarding experience.”

Launching Goop was no easy task, Paltrow candidly admits. “My set of challenges have been very unique because I migrated from a career in the arts to a career in business,” she said. “I had to gain trust and support. But at the end of the day, everything is business…It takes a lot of thought and a lot of concerted effort and really keeping an eye on the prize, and of course, there’s a terrible economy. There’s always something to navigate through.”

From recommending vaginal steaming to sex toys and pubic hair oil, the curated products Goop features are meant not to titillate but to explore.

“When we started Goop, we were doing it from a very real, very honest place, and we continue to really try to change conversations and to move culture forward,” said Paltrow, dressed in a cutout Carolina Herrera dress with a long train. “To be an indispensable resource is really what we hope the customer will take away. We started a lot of conversations about clean beauty and how important clean beauty is, we talked modern feminism and unconscious uncoupling, and amazing travel recommendations. Our goal is always to help the customer.”

Following in Paltrow’s footsteps, a slew of celebrities have recently turned their professional attention to non-acting endeavors. From Scarlett Johansson and Jared Leto to her former fiancé Brad Pitt, these A-listers have entered the beauty world with their own brands. This past September, Pitt released his skin care line, Le Domaine, a gender-neutral, anti-aging line. Pitt has credited Paltrow—the two were in a relationship from 1994 to 1997—for helping inspire the idea. As he grows and further develops his brand, Paltrow has some practical business tips for the Oscar winner.

“I think for any entrepreneur, and Brad included, you have to be committed to the integrity and the authenticity in what you make,” Paltrow said. “You have to know that you are making something because you believe in it so much. That you have to make it because you believe the world needs to have it as opposed to creating a business for business sake.”

Pitt also praised Paltrow for getting him to wash his face. “It was a long time ago. I don’t remember if I was the one,” she said. “But you know, I’m always trying to encourage everybody to wash their face. A clean face is a good thing, even for Brad!”

As Paltrow continues to dominate the wellness and lifestyle world, she promises she will not completely abandon her acting career. You can expect her to take on one more role.

“I mean, I would never say never,” said Paltrow, who last appeared onscreen in the Netflix series The Politician in 2020. “I promised my mother [Blythe Danner] that in the future I’ll go back to do at least one movie or play.”

Fashion Month Street Style is our Guide to 2022 Fall Fashion Trends

    [ad_1]

I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time scrolling through Pinterest. TikTok is addictive, BeReal is fun, and Instagram is good ol’ reliable (though it’s kind of dead). But none of them compare to the unbridled joy I get from Pinterest.

Sure, I relish the opportunity to curate collections of beautiful images without the other pressures of social media…but my favorite thing about Pinterest is that it keeps me ahead of upcoming fashion trends.

I predicted the fall reign of Birkenstocks before they were literally everywhere. I use it to source outfit inspo for 90s and Y2K fashion by checking back on style pics from those eras. And now, I’m using Pinterest to source the best fall fashion trends coming out of Fashion Month.

Fashion Month may be over but its impact has only just begun. All the runway shows gave us insight on spring and summer trends ’23 — like that iconic cerulean scene in The Devil Wears Prada. But it’s the street style that’s a treasure trove of fashion inspo for this fall and winter.

My mood boards and Pinterest collections are loaded with candid shots of all the best models and style stars flaunting their off-duty style. There are classic outfit combos of course — blazers, denim and white tees, a solid fall boot — but a few fresh trends have emerged from the Fashion Month stylescape.

    @allisonbornstein6

#greenscreen if you watched my “3 tips for building your fall wardrobe” video, you know that creating a moodboard is a very important step in staying focused! here is mine! i have a running folder of all of my fall inspo on my phone but these are some of the newer additions! #fashiontiktok #fyp #stylist #fashiontok #fallfashion #moodboard #inspo #inspooutfit

Big takeaways: neutrals are in, especially brown. Romance-inspired trends are up, from sensual, silky and sheer materials, to full-on bridal core. And texture is a big focus.

Much can be said about my favorite looks from the streets of London, New York, Paris, and Milan this season. Nothing will be said about the Yeezy fashion show. But one thing’s for sure, this was actually an exciting season, and I can’t wait to incorporate my favorite emergent motifs.

Like TikTok’s stylist Allison Bornstein says: shop your own closet! I’ll be buying a few timeless pieces inspired by this season and pairing them with what I already own. To me, that’s the meaning of high-low dressing.

Here are the best pieces I’m scouting for my fall closet based on Fashion Week Trends:

All products featured are independently selected by our editors. Things you buy through our links may earn us a commission.

    Double Denim

Denim is far from basic. I’ve always loved a good Canadian tuxedo and this Fashion Month breathed new light into the fan-favorite outfit combo. Denim pieces are becoming more interesting. Pair your trusty Levis with an ultra-distressed oversized denim jacket — the more rips and patches the better. Or experiment with a denim midi skirt and cropped denim top. Your options are endless.

You can go with double Levis — a look I always love. Or you can switch it up with the sustainable, vintage-inspired selection at Re/Done — a favorite of the fashion and street style set. For a classic pairing, try the Denim Chore Jacket from Universal Standard with your favorite jeans.

    Long Skirts

Thanks to Miu Miu, the micro-mini skirt reigned last season. It was all over our feeds and it’s still going strong, but long skirts are here to steal its thunder. Denim! Tweed! Nylon! All your favorite fashion girlies are getting weird and mixing up their fits with long skirts. Perfect for fall.

I love FRAME for any denim need, and this Midi Slit Skirt is at the top of my list. With the reign of Y2K fashion trends, parachute skirts are the latest It-Girl trend. These gorgeous sage green Drawstring Parachute Cargo Slit Skirt will put you lightyears ahead of the current trends.

    White After Labor Day

Nude and neutrals reigned this season. That old rule, “don’t wear white after labor day,” is rightfully dead, and winter whites are here. From all-white suiting to bridal-core, it’s all fair game. You can either wear different milky shades together or play with texture to create dimension.

Pair a cozy white cashmere sweater like this one from Gentle Herd with these white satin pants from Intimissimi to add some romance to your look. Or make a splash at your holiday events with this bridal-chic Cowl Neck Slip Dress from Fleur Du Mal.

    Platform Shoes

The cowboy boot trend is still going strong. I didn’t think it would last this long, but I still like it. It also inspired us to take more risks with our footwear — hence the platform shoe trend. Yes, we’ve been wearing platform sneakers for years. But platform UGGs are here — see: Bella Hadid, street style expert. Platform loafers. 90s-style platform flip-flops. And ultra-high platform strappy sandals. Watch your step!

    Sleek Suiting

Blazers will always be a timelessly chic addition to your look. But this season, suiting got an upgrade. Slinky button-down shirts and tailored pants were everywhere. Seems like creatives are aching for business-casual attire, but not in a “RTO” way. In a cool way.

Experiment with vests with this tailored number from Something Navy. Or try a funky twist on the oversized blazer with this rock’n’roll inspired cutaway blazer in faux leather from J Crew.

  • 10 Now-Obvious Trends New Housewife Jenna Lyons Kickstarted In the 2000s

10 Now-Obvious Trends New Housewife Jenna Lyons Kickstarted In the 2000s

    [ad_1]

This weekend, Bravo’s seemingly endless roster of cast members met in NYC for BravoCon, an annual celebration of everything from Summer House to the entire Real Housewives franchise. In true Bravo fashion, the drama was plentiful. But it wasn’t until a mid-convention taping of Watch What Happens Live that the most surprising and shocking announcement was made: Jenna Lyons is becoming a housewife. A real housewife of New York City, that is.

More likely than not, you know Lyons from her 26-year tenure at J.Crew, where she started as a junior designer right out of college and eventually rose to become president and executive creative director. There, and specifically during the late-2000s and 2010s, Lyons was responsible for shaping the wardrobes of practically an entire generation of women. She even has a New York Times-backed name to prove it: “The Woman Who Dresses America.”

As opposed to the classic, east coast aesthetic the brand was known for in the ’90s (the one that appears to be making a comeback right now under new head of women’s design Olympia Gayot), Lyons’s J.Crew was bright and experimental, with bold, chunky accessories paired down with a button-down shirt and animal print outerwear styled with clashing cashmere knits. Loud and upbeat, the designer taught women how to make officewear fun, going-out gear elegant, and casual ensembles for a nothing day exciting.

So, to celebrate the latest addition to Lyons’s CV, we rounded up all the ways the newest member of the Real Housewives family defined style in the 2000s and 2010s. Check it out below.

  • Luxury Fashion Retailer elysewalker Launches E-Commerce Site

Luxury Fashion Retailer elysewalker Launches E-Commerce Site

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    Jan 18, 2022

Since opening the first brick-and-mortar location in 1999, elysewalker has become one of the most sought-after purveyors of premium curated apparel, jewelry and accessories — with a focus on head-to-toe styling, guided discovery and true personalization.  With the launch of the new e-commerce platform, the company will expand on its loyal following and welcome a broader national audience to the unique elysewalker experience.

“As I looked at what was out there in the luxury online world, I had an overwhelming sense of product overload and ‘personalization’ technologies that feel anything but. The elysewalker customer appreciates a more simplified and intimate approach, which has made us such a destination over the last 22+ years,” explains founder, owner and CEO Elyse Walker.

Since its inception, the complimentary styling program at elysewalker has delivered personalized, elevated, fashion-forward looks directly to the client, building deep and loyal client relationships as a result.

To bring its successful personal styling services to life in the digital arena, elysewalker has developed exclusive technology that enables clients to connect online with one of its elysewalker stylists. Once connected, the client receives custom-created, shoppable digital look books based on their preferences and previous purchases.

elysewalker commissioned Hugo & Marie, a New York-based independent artist management firm and agency, for the creative design and development of the site — taking the personal, in-store elysewalker experience and translating that for an online audience. In keeping with the brand’s mission of championing young female talent, elysewalker selected New York-based photographer Sophie Elgort to capture the editorial launch campaign. Shot in downtown Los Angeles amongst iconic landmarks and buildings, the concept of the campaign was to capture the energy of the city while elevating the everyday experience, featuring human connections, natural interactions, and genuine moments.

With a conversational tone of voice and bold color palette, the new elysewalker.com evokes a distinct and differentiated point of view. Woven throughout the site are personal “Love Notes” from the stylists to convey a unique experience that mimics the energy of shopping in an elysewalker store. The platform will initially focus on the U.S., with plans to expand strategically to key international markets in the future.

The carefully curated catalogue of designers speaks to the strong relationships that elysewalker has forged since its inception. This is echoed in the design and voice of the site, creating a platform for new and emerging talent while still championing their signature, heritage pillar brands. At a time when best-in-class brands aspire to transcend product to be a trusted resource, create signature experiences and build a community — elysewalker continues to reinforce these elements as the foundation of the brand, and as the key to its success.

    About elysewalker:

Founded in 1999, elysewalker is one of the most sought-after purveyors of premium curated apparel, jewelry and accessories. Since 1999, the company has grown its footprint to include four brick-and-mortar elysewalker stores in Pacific Palisades, Newport Beach, Calabasas and Saint Helena, California, as well as three towne by elysewalker stores in Pacific Palisades, Newport Beach, and Bel Air, California, and now a new ecommerce site. The Xeric Trappist-1 Moonphase Watch – Bending Time & Space

    [ad_1]

NASA’s recent groundbreaking discovery of the Trappist-1 solar system inspired the team at Xeric to design this otherworldly timepiece.

    Press Release

    updated: Oct 28, 2017

NASA’s recent groundbreaking discovery of the Trappist-1 solar system inspired the team at Xeric to imagine what a journey to these newly found planets might be like. The Xeric Trappist-1 Moonphase watch pays tribute to this new planetary system of seven planets resembling our own, located 12 parsecs (39 light years) away from us and orbiting a red dwarf star slightly larger than Jupiter.

Several key features of the Xeric Trappist-1 Moonphase watch set it apart from other traditional watch designs. The large Cupola grille floating over the dial provides a window into the depths of space and time as distant planets slowly come into view amongst the star-riddled void. Two Super-LumiNova™ planets indicate hours and minutes on the dial, and the center viewing window shows the current moon phase. The watch features a domed crystal made from Hesalite, a material that was initially developed for NASA. Hesalite is still used for watch crystals on all space missions due to its rigidity and durability even in the harshest environments of space. Additionally, the straps are made from U.S. Horween leather and the ridges are modeled after texturized space gloves. Each colorway will be limited to 2017 pieces and each watch will be individually numbered.

“We can not look out into space without looking back into time.”

Carl Sagan, American astronomer, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author, science popularizer, and science communicator in astronomy and other natural sciences.

During observation of the Trappist-1 planetary system, researchers found that these new worlds were within a habitable zone where liquid water and even plant life may be present. Traveling to these planets may still be a long way off, but that doesn’t prevent us from dreaming up the perfect watch about the journey: the Xeric Trappist-1 Moonphase.

Xeric was started from a passion to push the boundaries of design and create unique, yet affordable time machines —  watches like you’ve never seen before. Xeric is one of the most successful watch brands on Kickstarter. We started out as watch collectors, and it’s our passion to create unexpected timepieces.

The team behind Xeric is also responsible for Watches.com (formerly Watchismo). Xeric was founded by brothers Mitch & Andrew Greenblatt who are modern horological enthusiasts with a passion for unique timepieces. They’ve been scouring the globe since 1999 discovering obscure, unusual brands that you’ve probably never heard of as well as carefully curating the brands you love. A watch is a unique form of art, design and personal expression. They have a long-standing mission of providing exceptional and affordable timepieces to adventurous enthusiasts.

From Xeric Co-founder & Designer Mitch Greenblatt:

Earlier this year, NASA announced the discovery of a new solar system with multiple planets orbiting the ‘Goldilocks Zone,’ the distance from a star that is neither too hot or too cold to support liquid water like here on Earth.

A rush of adrenaline hit me with the first real evidence of a (relatively) close solar system with not just one, but up to seven planets capable of supporting life as we know it (or possibly, NOT as we know it).

My interests in design, astronomy, and timekeeping have led me to design the Trappist-1 collection of Xeric watches. My first watch design that touches upon the questions, ‘What exactly is Time?’ and ‘What is in our future?’ Will Elon Musk really colonize Mars in the next seven years as promised? If so, how many generations away are we from colonizing other planetary system like the Trappist-1? I feel it will be a lot sooner than we expect. Just look at the dizzying pace of technology in the past 50 or 100 years, both merely a blip of time. Travel to the Trappist-1 planets or another even closer, yet undiscovered solar system might only be decades away.

Accentuating the watch design, I looked to Optical Art pioneer Victor Vasarely and his iconic paintings that transform two-dimensional canvases into mesmerizing illusions personifying the space-age aesthetic of the time-defining 1960s. A print of his Vega series has hung on my cork idea wall for years now, and the image finally spoke to me and how it could bridge the myriad of interpretations in a watch like the Trappist-1.

The spatial depths Vasarely created also reference Einstein’s theory of relativity which can help visualize space and time as a fabric that wraps around massive planets and stars. I wanted to use this forced perspective into a fully dimensional convex, easily translated to a 12-hour display. Time is revealed simply with planetary spheres and stars in glowing colors of Super-LumiNova beneath the Cupola style windows of the grille. This observatory display simultaneously gives you the feeling of looking out while also looking in.

The centrally mounted moon display glows with the current lunar phase ranging from new moon to full moon. This moon phase is surrounded by an alternative time display of traditional Roman numerals highlighted by an orbiting North Star indicator. A magnifying porthole lens shows the date amidst the deepest depth of the ombré colored dial.

Carl Sagan summed it up best when he said “space & time are intertwined. We cannot look out into space without looking back into time.”

New Miami Project Brings Art Into Fashion

    [ad_1]

This brand reaches out to artists engaging in the digital economy, while providing the cultural consumer with fashionable items from art.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 27, 2017

For the cultural type, meaning those who enjoy the arts, culture and traveling both to global, cosmopolitan centers and to exotic locations, there’s a new project in Miami that brings together cultural insight, artistic talent, digital communities and style, holMedia reports. The project is called A Taste of Life Gallery, alluding to people with a special taste about life — or as Laura Khoudari, CEO, tells it, “Those who delight themselves in culture.”

The shop is referred to as a gallery since it is a selection of items designed with elements from actual works of art by international artists — from neon sculptors and pluritechnique painters to multimedia artists and writers with expositions and work presented in major urban centers. The gallery also features ripe, exploding talents who are assisted by the brand and its online community to reach their full digital potential.

Each item has a story and every artist leaves a piece of his and her soul in their creations. It’s the right project at the right time, when you should invest in a manner that is more personal.

    Christian Schrader, Art Director M-Labs

The profit of every sale is shared between the brand and the artists, endowing this startup with great potential to impact the global community of artists and cultural project managers.

The company is run by Laura Khoudari, a third generation textile heiress, who sought out a way to bring her family’s seven decade weaving and knitting factory to the new digital era. With the help of her innovation team, led by anthropologists, they found amazing cultural capital both in cosmopolitan cities and in exotic locations.

In her words: “The brand is the answer to how to capitalize all that creative talent while impacting the quality of life of the artists and taking unique fashion items to the global consumer who values cultural trends and style.”

You can take a look at the Gallery here: A Taste of Life Gallery.

If you’re an artistic talent, or would like to endorse one you can check out their community-oriented website: Lifer’s Program.
