  • Priyanka Chopra signed SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi with one CONDITION; later Mahesh Babu was forced to… | Bollywood Life

    [ad_1]

Priyanka Chopra is set to return to Indian cinema after nearly seven years. Her upcoming film, Varanasi, is directed by the renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli. In an interview, Priyanka revealed, she made one request before signing the film.

Actress Priyanka Chopra is set to return to Indian cinema after nearly seven years. Her next film is titled Varanasi, and it’s being directed by the renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli. In an interview, Priyanka revealed that when Rajamouli offered her the film, she had only one condition before saying yes, she wanted the opportunity to dance in the film. This was confirmed by actor Mahesh Babu, who said that the dance number is going to be sensational.

What was Priyanka Chopra’s request before signing Varanasi?

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Priyanka revealed that she had not appeared in any Indian film for the past six years. When Rajamouli called her and described her character, Priyanka jokingly said that she had only one request — “Will you let me dance?” Priyanka said that she hadn’t had the chance to dance for a long time, so she was very excited about it. However, she later realized that making this demand might have been a bit much, as there’s a lot of dancing in the film. In her words, “So, I haven’t done an Indian film in like six years. So when she called me, and he was like, ‘Oh, you know, this female character’s really cool and you have to do it,’ and whatever, I was like, ‘I have one request, will you make me dance? Please, because I haven’t danced for so long.”

Priyanka laughingly said that Mahesh Babu also had to work very hard because of this dance. She said that Mahesh jokingly said that all of this was happening because of Priyanka and now he also had to dance. She said, “Whoa, I should not have asked, because we be dancing. Oh my gosh, there’s a lot. And poor Mahesh was like, ‘It’s because of you. Because of you, I have to do it too.’”

Mahesh Babu’s reaction to Priyanka Chopra’s dancing request

Mahesh Babu, on the other hand, said that one song from the film has already been shot and it’s so fantastic that everyone keeps humming it even after the shooting. He said, “It’s sensational. And, I think one song we’ve already shot for it, and it just keeps playing in our minds. And [Priyanka] keeps singing it all the time. And, that song was because she wanted to dance and… And, he made her dance.”

    All about Varanasi

Varanasi is directed by SS Rajamouli, who has previously directed blockbuster films like RRR. This film is being hailed as Priyanka Chopra’s grand return to Indian cinema, in which she will be seen in an action-packed role as Mandakini. Mahesh Babu plays the lead role, while Prithviraj Sukumaran portrays the villain. According to the teaser, the film’s story is based on time travel and action-adventure.

  • EXCLUSIVE: SS Rajamouli to kick off Mahesh Babu’s SSMB 29 from April 2024

EXCLUSIVE: SS Rajamouli to kick off Mahesh Babu’s SSMB 29 from April 2024

    [ad_1]

Ever since the release of RRR in March 2022, there has been ample of speculation on the shooting schedule of India’s biggest director, SS Rajamouli’s next fronted by Mahesh Babu. The film was initially slated to go on floors in 2023, however, the maverick filmmaker needed more time to finish his script and also get equipped with international technology for this African Jungle Adventure.

SSMB 29 screenplay is expected to be locked by December

While it’s still a work in progress on the pre-production front, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that SS Rajamouli and the team are looking to start shooting for SSMB 29 from April 2024. “SS Rajamouli and his father, KV Vijayendra Prasad, are presently busy giving finishing touches to the script of this African Jungle Adventure. The entire screenplay draft is expected to be locked by the end of this year,” revealed a source close to the development.

The source further added that a team is simultaneously working on the tech check for this jungle adventure. “After RRR scaling new heights, SS Rajamouli has become the global face of cinema. He is in talks with two global studios (Disney & Sony) to partner on this feature film with the idea of taking the content to the remotest corners of the world. While the storytelling pattern will stick to the Indian flavor, the visuals will be a result of some of the best of technology coming into play. The shoot will take place at real locations as also sets in India and abroad,” the source informed adding further that Mahesh will undergo extensive prep for this film.

Rajamouli to make a rooted jungle adventure with Mahesh Babu

While the world is that of a global jungle adventure, we previously reported that Mahesh Babu’s character will have traits of Lord Hanuman in the film. “Rajamouli films are deeply rooted in Indian Mythology and Epics, and the upcoming jungle adventure will be no different. He is a master of his craft and knows how to merge the Indian tales in a format that makes it a must-watch big-screen spectacle,” the source concluded.

The workshops for Mahesh on SS Rajamouli’s next begin early next year, right after the release of his Trivikram-directed Guntur Kaaram. There is also a chatter within the industry about a spin-off to charaters from Bahubali in the offing, but we have not got clarity on the same from credible sources. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Manoj Bajpayee terms Anurag Kashyap as a ‘mad eccentric’ man revealing why he did not direct Shool

    [ad_1]

Anurag Kashyap has been making a lot of headlines, but not due to his film but for his unconventional behaviour and statements. Just a day ago, he claimed how he approached South Indian superstar Chiyaan Vikram for his film Kennedy, which is screened at the Oscars in 2023, and said how the Ponniyin Selvan star never got back to him. And immediately after this, Chiyyan Vikram mentioned that he himself called him, but there was no response, the filmmaker as massively trolled after this. And amid all these allegations, Manoj Bajpayee, who shares a strong bond with the filmmaker, called him a mad and eccentric man for not shooting Shool. Shool was written by Anurag Kashyap, and it is till date one of the best films of Manoj Bajpayee. Of late, Manoj, who has been promoting his latest release, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, spoke largely about Anurag and how he is still disappointed with him for not directing Shool. Calling him a mad and eccentric man for turning down the golden opportunity of directing the film, he spoke to a publication and said,” You will not find a more eccentric man. He had work; he was in charge; he’d written Shool, but he didn’t direct it. He’s stubborn, but more than stubborn, he’s mad.”.

When asked if Anurag wasn’t happy with the changes that were made in Shool and hence left the film, Bajpayee said,” No, that wasn’t the case. He was the writer; he could’ve directed it if he wanted to. But he had a script for a film called Paanch. You will all know that he is a ‘dimaag ka tedha aadmi (slightly eccentric man)’. He had decided that his first film would only be Paanch and that he wouldn’t direct anything else before it.” Also Read – After Anurag Kashyap faces brutal trolling for ‘lying about’ Chiyaan Vikram, filmmaker assures that the two won’t retire before doing a film together

Manoj and Anurag have worked together in Gangs of Wasseypur, and till date, it is counted as one of the best films of Anurag Kashyap.

The second phase release of RRR ensured that it took the third spot in the list of highest grossing Indian films worldwide, eclipsing KGF: Chapter 2 due to a very strong performance in Japan, where it is already the number one Indian film.

RRR’s Song Naatu Naatu Is Nominated For The Best Original Song At The Academy Awards

RRR has found critical acclaim and commercial success across the globe. The nominations and subsequent victories, through the award season, have resulted in a strong and elongated movie run in theatres internationally. The most prestigious award function for which RRR has been nominated is the Academy Awards. The song ‘Naatu Naatu‘ from the acclaimed film is competing in the category of ‘Best Original Song’ and a victory should give it a great boost in numbers across North America. Through the course of its run, RRR has broken many major box office records. On the eve of the academy awards, it is only right to discuss the benchmarks that this magnum opus has set through the course of its run, that will take some effort to surpass.

RRR Secured The Highest Opening Day For An Indian Film Worldwide

RRR created an opening day record in India as it bettered Baahubali 2 by a good margin. Baahubali 2, again directed by S.S. Rajamouli, still is the benchmark of historic success for Indian films. For RRR to better its first day takings is surely a historic feat. RRR of course had higher average ticket prices that did the trick for it. But again, it wasn’t a franchise film like Baahubali 2 and a franchise film gets the benefit of a ready audience which is not a case with newly created IPs. The worldwide opening day record of RRR has not been crossed by any other Indian film yet.

RRR Emerged As The Film To Collect Highest Theatrical Shares In Telugu States

RRR also became the film with the highest theatrical share in Telugu states, beating Baahubali 2. The total share from the two states alone is around Rs 240 crores and that is staggering. In the list of highest theatrical share in India for a single language, RRR was placed second, only behind the Hindi share of Baahubali 2. Now it is third, behind Pathaan and Baahubali 2. Talking about the highest share in India for the original language, RRR was number one, before being dethroned by Pathaan.

RRR Recorded The Highest First Day Collections For An Indian Film Internationally

RRR registered the highest opening day for an Indian film internationally. The film, on its opening day, collected Rs 67 crores internationally, which is still the highest among Indian films. Of that, Rs. 42 crores came from USA alone. To beat the opening day collections of RRR in USA will take some time and effort and most probably, only an S.S Rajamouli movie will be able to dethrone RRR from its top spot.

RRR Is On Course To Become The Third Indian Film To Surpass Rs 1200 Crores Worldwide

RRR’s worldwide gross collections are a whisker away from Rs 1200 crores, a number achieved by only two films in the past, Baahubali 2 and Dangal.

SS Rajamouli Has Become The Most Celebrated Indian Director

Coming to personal records, S.S. Rajamouli is the only Indian director to give two back to back Rs 1000 crore worldwide grossers. He’s the highest grossing Indian director and also the director to secure the highest theatrical share. His next film is with Mahesh Babu and it is said to be a globe-trotting adventure film. The film is keenly awaited and is sure to set benchmarks whenever it releases.

    RRR Also Broke Streaming Records

RRR did not just do well in theatres but did exceedingly well digitally too. The Hindi version of the film stayed in Netflix’s top 10 list for a record 16 weeks and one can’t rule out the possibility of it breaking into the list for the 17th and 18th time. 16 weeks in top 10 has made it the only non-English film to achieve that feat, on this streaming platform. Different versions of the film have been streaming on other platforms and it is needless to say that they are setting benchmarks on the streaming front as well.

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali attended some important events in London as part of the BAFTA Awards campaign. For the unversed, Bhansali had earlier received a nomination at the BAFTA awards in 2003 for his much-loved Shah Rukh Khan starrer Devdas. However, the blockbuster outing, which featured Alia Bhatt in the titular role, failed to make it into the BAFTA 2023 longlist, to the much disappointment of the cine-goers.

SS Rajamouli opens up on his formula for success; REVEALS if had sleepless nights while shooting RRR

    [ad_1]

SS Rajamouli is currently making India proud after his ensemble film RRR earned two nominations at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards. The master craftsman has also made headlines recently by winning the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Director. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli opened up on the various facets of filmmaking in The Filmmakers’ Adda 2022, which was organised by the popular online media Film Companion. During his interaction with fellow filmmakers, the hitmaker spilled beans on his formula for success.

Rajamouli on his formula for success

According to the director, who is currently considered the biggest hitmaker in the country, it is very important to know the pulse of audiences. “I don’t think there is any secret formula. Two things I would say are – basically having a connection with the audience, and not getting too comfortable. If you get too comfortable, you get too complacent. If your film is doing good business at the moment of the announcement, then you tend to get complacent,” stated SS Rajamouli.

“Have a connection with the audiences, always understand what they want, first,” said SS Rajamouli. “The market never listens to you, so don’t even try. Always try to talk to the audience, don’t try to talk to the market,” concluded the Baahubali director.

SS Rajamouli reveals if he had sleepless nights while shooting RRR

During the interaction, SS Rajamouli also opened up on taking big risks for the films, and revealed if he had sleepless nights while shooting RRR. According to the filmmaker, he never thinks of an idea that excites him as a big risk. So, the Ram Charan-Jr NTR film never gave him sleepless nights due to its massive scale or budget. “The only time we had sleepless nights was when we were shooting the animal sequence with NTR, but that is only because we had a night shoot,” quipped the hitmaker.
