  • The Priscilla Costume Designer Shares How She Re-Created Those Iconic Looks

The Priscilla Costume Designer Shares How She Re-Created Those Iconic Looks

    [ad_1]

As you mentioned, you did so much work looking at archives, looking at what has been worn. I’m wondering about how that collaboration between you and Sofia [Coppola] worked? Are there parts of the stories that had to be tweaked to show some of those moments? Or is it that the big plot points coincide with some of these iconic fashion moments organically?

They are a big part of the story, I would say, and were never added in to show them.

I feel like when he [Elvis Presley] leaves Germany in our story, it’s the very first time she’s seeing him as a public figure.

I mean, obviously, she knows he’s a public figure, but their relationship up until that point is very intimate.

Then she waves goodbye, and it’s like, now all of a sudden, he belongs to the world again. That, I think, was a very important story part.

Obviously, the wedding is important. The baby is important.

Aside from writing about beauty and style, my passion is fitness. Most days, you can catch me on my yoga mat at home or running to a workout classbut I must admit my favorite part of my routine is actually getting dressed to exercise. Cute activewear motivates me like nothing else, and as you can imagine, I have quite a large collection of it. Out of all my pieces, though, my favorites (and most-complimented) are from Alo. Not only are they functional for each of my workouts—whether I’m doing Pilates, hot yoga, or resistance training—but they’re all so on-trend. I don’t mean to brag, but I get so many compliments every time I wear anything from this brand. If you want to crush your workout and receive dozens of compliments at the same time, I highly suggest you keep scrolling and check out the new arrivals.

    [ad_1]

We all have that one friend who’s cold all the time. (Ahem, me.) Come wintertime, all I want is to be wrapped up in fleece and sherpa 24/7. But instead of bundling up in whatever old sweater or coat I have lying around, this winter, I’m committing to looking chic and stylish with the help of Roots. The heritage Canadian brand has an elevated outdoorsy vibe that feels so right for fall and winter. I’m personally eyeing the cable sweater, plaid scarf, and fleece anorak to pick up next. We all want to look expensive and luxurious, right? If you’re a 20-something like me, though, you might not have thousands of dollars to spare. But investing in an under-$500 watch from Citizen? That’s something my wallet and I can get behind. Its watches have this air of elegance that makes them the perfect accessory for acing the quiet-luxury aesthetic. The best part is that you really only need one signature timepiece. (But I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to grab a few styles to match different looks.) I also love that nearly all of the watches in the collection are solar-powered because let’s face it—I don’t have the time or desire to replace batteries. Whether you’re in the market for one or three of these sustainable watches, I’ve curated the best quiet-luxury timepieces for any style or mood.

  • Meet Eliza Blank: The CEO and Founder of Plant Empire The Sill

Meet Eliza Blank: The CEO and Founder of Plant Empire The Sill

    [ad_1]

In a world where we’re constantly seeking ways to bring nature indoors, Eliza Blank, the founder and CEO of The Sill, has managed to turn her passion for plants into a thriving business. The Sill, a direct-to-consumer houseplant company, is on a mission to make everyone a “plant person” and infuse indoor environments with the benefits of lush greenery.

Blank’s love affair with plants was deeply rooted in her upbringing. Inspired by her mother’s green thumb and the lush gardens that filled her childhood home, Blank developed a profound appreciation for the natural world. However, as a young adult living in a tiny New York City apartment, she encountered a common challenge: finding the perfect plants to thrive in limited indoor spaces. This ultimately sparked the initial idea for The Sill while Blank was still in college.

In 2012, Blank decided to take the leap and turn her plant-focused dream into a reality. To start her venture, she launched a Kickstarter campaign, which successfully raised $12,000, providing her with the initial capital needed to embark on her entrepreneurial journey. In the early days of The Sill, Blank took a hands-on approach; she personally sourced, potted, and hand-delivered plants to clients in the bustling metropolis of New York City. It was a labor of love, a testament to her dedication to bringing the beauty and benefits of plants to city dwellers.

  • The Only 4 Coat Styles Worth Investing In This Year

The Only 4 Coat Styles Worth Investing In This Year

    [ad_1]

I’ve always been an organized, “plan ahead” type of girl, so my entire fall and winter wardrobe is already 90% sorted. When creating this year’s cold-weather capsule wardrobe, I focused my energy on finding the perfect coats. Outerwear is the single most important apparel decision this time of year both from a practical standpoint (read: staying warm) and a fashion one (read: looking stylish).

When I think of coats worth investing in, Max Mara immediately soars to the top of the list. The Italian heritage brand is known for quality craftsmanship and classic designs that stand the test of time. The brand’s Icon coat collection is what outerwear dreams are made of, particularly these four styles that channel the quiet-luxury trend everyone is loving so much this year. Here’s how I’d style them for chilly days ahead.

If there’s one aesthetic that I keep coming back to, it’s quiet luxury. I see it all over Manhattan, and I think it really reflects the effortless sophistication of the city’s stylish residents. So it should be no surprise that I’m living for the new AG collab with the iconic and inimitable Emily Ratajkowski, who’s an expert in the quiet-luxury space. She’s an OG New Yorker known for her classic, elevated sense of style, and that’s exactly what this capsule collection embodies. • I Researched Every Fall 2023 Trend—These 5 Are Clearly the Most Important

I Researched Every Fall 2023 Trend—These 5 Are Clearly the Most Important

    [ad_1]

As a ’90s kid who grew up idolizing Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, I’m excited that the minimalistic attire they so famously wore during that decade is back in a major way. There’s an emphasis on clean lines, simple silhouettes, and elevated basics right now. I chose to style these baggy jeans (opt for a low rise if you really want to lean into the ’90s vibe) with a crisp button-down, timeless camel trench, and very of-the-times thong sandals. When the temps drop a bit more, I’ll swap in ballet flats or heeled pointed-toe boots, but the classic leather shoulder bag, skinny belt, and classic watch from Cartier will not be going anywhere.

I’m an Editor, and These Are the 24 Fashion Items I’m Prioritizing for Fall

    [ad_1]

Who else is still on a fashion inspiration kick from NYFW? Out of all the contemporary and elevated pieces I spotted, a few looks stood out above the rest, and I just had to shop them for myself. First off, classic silhouettes aren’t going anywhere, which explains why almost every fashion person running from show to show was wearing leather or tailored suiting. I also fell in love with the elegant long coats and statement party dresses (with lots of fringe) for a night out. Finally, any fall wish list wouldn’t be complete without some cozy layers. In my opinion, the best place to shop all these trends is at Bloomingdale’s. The iconic retailer has everything I need for an upgraded fall wardrobe. I’ll be stopping by its flagship store on 59th Street, but if you’re not in NYC, don’t worry—its online store has an even bigger selection of trendy pieces. (I could scroll for hours.) Whether or not your closet really needs “changing”, there’s always room for some new basics to freshen things up. These Are the Fall-Ready Ensembles to Add to Your Transitional Wardrobe

    [ad_1]

If there was one piece of clothing that I overcompensated on last fall, it was pants. So this season, I decided to give myself a “pants ban,” opting to focus on knitwear and accessories instead. I’m a firm believer that these are the items that can make or break a fall outfit, so I want to invest in expensive-looking pieces that I’ll be able to wear for many years. For this reason alone, I made my way over to QVC. The retailer has really surprised me with an array of fall finds, especially in the site’s pre-owned section. (I’m still salty about missing out on an original ’90s Dior saddle bag.) The site’s carefully curated knitwear basics are the front-runners in my cart, making the hard task of refreshing my seasonal closet that much easier. I’m Leveling Up My Fall Fashion With These 16 Staples

This fall is really special for me—it’s my first time being in New York City during NYFW. As you can imagine, seeing this season’s array of bold runway and streetwear trends firsthand has inspired me to step into my most empowering sense of style. To accomplish this, I went straight to editor-favorite retailer Net-a-Porter. The site carries renowned designers including Jacquemus, Khaite, The Row, Gucci, and Chloé as well the new luxury labels that only cool fashion people (like you) know. Of course, I found all the runway trends that I want to wear, the first being power dressing because we all know that elevated tailoring gives you a special kind of confidence. Minimalist basics such as belts and sweaters complement this trend really well, and they also make the perfect canvas for attention-grabbing accessories like oversize handbags and over-the-knee boots. And in case you didn’t know already, red is undoubtedly the color of the season, so I’m adding splashes of this hue to my looks wherever possible. Keep scrolling to see my complete fall edit.

If you were to ask me which department store I frequent the most, the answer would be Saks. Every season, I take a look at its new-arrivals section and pick the pieces to add to my wardrobe, careful not to fall victim to overzealous shopping sprees. Seasonal knitwear and shoes are a must this fall, along with accessories I can take with me into winter.

So which brands are making the wardrobe-refresh list this time around? Khaite is at the top of my list, with fall staples such as the Lavan Cropped Cashmere Cardigan and the most perfect pair of dark-wash straight-leg jeans. Loewe also came in hot with its popular puzzle tote bag. Ahead, you’ll find all the pieces I’ve got my eye on from the Saks fall fashion assortment.
