Skirts Are *It* for Fall—6 Outfits That Will Dominate the Fashion Scene

    [ad_1]

The buzziest looks from the fall/winter 2023 collections have one thing in common: skirts. Skirts on their own are hardly groundbreaking as a clothing category since there are new versions each season, but what is interesting are the strong designs, fresh silhouettes, and already-viral quality of the pieces that are dropping this fall. Prada’s floral-embellished circle skirts and miniskirts, in particular, caused a wave of commentary on the internet when they debuted. Now that they are arriving in stores, they are causing an equal frenzy of excitement among the fashion crowd as they are clamoring to test-drive them and add them to their wardrobes.

Other fall skirts are primed to take over this season, including everything from the pencil skirts that will dominate the corporate trend to the fresh ways we’re seeing maxi skirts styled. Here are the fall outfits with skirts to add to your arsenal of looks for the season ahead.

Fall wardrobing is usually synonymous with denim, but this season, there’s a rivalry brewing because the fall skirt trends on deck are so good you just might find yourself overlooking your jeans to test-drive one of them. For the past several seasons, designers have been putting skirts into full focus, anchoring their collections around a few key skirt styles. For fall, designers are only doubling down on their fascination with these outfit-making skirts, and there are so many fresh styles on deck for the season ahead.

Yep, skirts are looking cooler than ever this season, and I’m about to prove it to you. I’ve done a ton of trend research and pulled out seven fall skirt trends that will define the season ahead. • Christina Aguilera’s Handbag Miniskirt Is Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

Christina Aguilera’s Handbag Miniskirt Is Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

    [ad_1]

Christina Aguilera is in her bag . . . literally. On July 31, the singer showed off her latest bold look: a sparkly micro miniskirt that looks just like a purse. A straight-off-the-runway design from Namilia’s spring 2024 collection, the skirt is covered in pink crystals and made to resemble a Birkin bag, complete with a rounded top handle, silver hardware, three flaps, and a bell-shaped pendant. With input from stylist Chris Horan, Aguilera paired it with a black T-shirt, “Barbie-foot heels,” black embellished A-Morir sunglasses, and a piecey, Y2K-style updo. “Precious Goods,” she captioned her Instagram post, followed by a pink-bow emoji.

Namilia’s latest collection, which debuted during Berlin Fashion Week last month, is titled “In Loving Memory of My Sugar Daddy.” The clothes are a celebration of “the self-made millionaire that is the gold digger,” according to the German brand’s website. The Birkin design is featured heavily throughout the subversive line, popping up on dresses, bra tops, corsets, garters, and even thongs. Other eye-catching pieces include an oversize red tote bag that reads “TRAGIC” in silver crystal font and a handbag that looks like both a tissue box and a vulva.

Aguilera is a known fan of edgy fashion. Earlier this summer, the star wore a leather lace-up corset and matching cutout pants to headline the Lovers & Friends festival in Las Vegas. The month prior, she rocked a completely sheer Versace catsuit covered in zebra stripes for the Breakthrough Prize ceremony. Aguilera is also not afraid to take beauty risks, flashing a 3D vagina manicure during her “Call Her Daddy” interview in April. When it comes to the Grammy winner’s looks, we should always expect the unexpected.

Ahead, take a closer look at Aguilera’s Namilia purse skirt and see how models wore the quirky design on the runway.

  • Laura Harrier Wore the One Summer Skirt Trend That I Refuse to Ditch Come Fall

Laura Harrier Wore the One Summer Skirt Trend That I Refuse to Ditch Come Fall

    [ad_1]

There are certain wardrobe items that, no matter how much it pains you to store them away post summer, are seasonal, and sadly, not suitable for year-round use. Flip flops are one of them, as are crochet dresses and most items made of linen. They have their time in the sun (literally) and then get properly stowed throughout fall, winter, and some of spring.

Until recently, white, A-line skirts would’ve met the same fate. Then Prada’s fall/winter 2023 collection came out, showcasing a bevy of styling maneuvers capable of keeping the summer staple alive throughout the colder months. All you need are some neutral knits, a leather blazer, and a pair of equally summery white kitten heels. Now, you’ll have to tear my white skirts from my cold, winter-weather dry hands. Even then, I’ll hold on tight.

I can only imagine that others feel the same, especially loyal fans of the silhouette like Laura Harrier, who posted a slideshow on Instagram on Monday wearing one while sipping a matcha latte outside of an LA cafe. “Fully switched from coffee to matcha, my LA assimilation is complete,” the caption reads. With it, she appropriately kept things pretty summery, wearing a white, cropped tube top, a cord necklace, The Row flip flops, and oval sunglasses. But, with next season’s drop in temperatures, I see no reason why her exact skirt couldn’t be entirely reworked to become a fall mainstay too. Scroll down to see her look and shop all of the white, A-line skirts that I’m considering adding to my wardrobe ahead of autumn.

Please don’t judge me for what I’m about to tell you, but I am not a pant person. Don’t get me wrong—I own them and wear them when necessary, but they’re not my favorite. For me, the best bottom you can buy isn’t a pair of jeans or trousers—it’s a skirt. And while that may be a controversial take, I’m fully willing to stand by my assertion that it is the better bottom.

Skirts are not only more size-inclusive, but they’re also way more versatile both in styling possibilities and the fact you can find every type of skirt under the sun. Midi skirts, maxi skirts, pencil skirts… You name it. Plus, we’ve seen more and more runway collections feature skirts, further cementing the fact that they are that staple. But if you’re still not sold, you’ll want to keep reading, as I’ve done some digging to identify the six most popular skirt trends among the fashion set right now.

  • I Live In Midi and Maxi Skirts—30 Under-$150 Finds Too Good Not to Share

I Live In Midi and Maxi Skirts—30 Under-$150 Finds Too Good Not to Share

    [ad_1]

Summer 2023 is all about a good skirt. A midi or maxi skirt, to be particular. It’s time for miniskirts to move over and for the rise of longer hemlines to commence. As someone on the shorter side, I have always leaned toward a miniskirt (If I’m honest, I’m trying to stretch out the little amount of leg I have). But maxi and midi skirts have been my go-to lately. Whether I want a more dressed-up look for the weekend or am styling an outfit for the office, I’m all about a great maxi or midi skirt. My favorite thing about maxi and midi skirts is how versatile they are.

You can pair them with your favorite white tank or baby tee, sneakers, and cool sunglasses and look super put together or dress them up with a strapless top and kitten heels. Midi and maxi skirts are perfect for chic summer dressing, whether that means date night, happy hour, a day at the park, or going to the office. While building my midi and maxi skirt collection, I wanted to focus on affordable options that would work with pieces I already had in my closet. I found 30 midi and maxi skirts that checked all my boxes and happened to be under $150.

Keep scrolling to see which affordable and chic midi and maxi skirts I can’t wait to wear this summer.

Skirts Are Skirting—7 Trends Everyone Is Wearing Right Now

    [ad_1]

Fashion is a great many things, but one thing no one can argue about (ironically) is that it’s subjective. I say this because I find skirts a bit boring—usually, that is. My skirt opinions have shifted over the past few seasons as the trends have become more interesting and varied. You could wear a cargo miniskirt one day and a long elegant slip skirt the next, and both styles would be equally relevant.

In case you’re overwhelmed by the number of skirt trends to choose from right now, I want to talk about seven that I consider the most prominent this summer. Some have been around for a minute, while others are very fresh. Scroll for the tea on all the skirt trends worth knowing about, and shop the styles that I think are most worthy of your attention (and hard-earned money).

What’s one piece you can’t live without? Perhaps you can’t survive without a simple tank top? Or maybe your entire life is spent in jeans? For me, the end-all-be-all staple is a great skirt. Call me a fiend for skirts if you want, but I know they are the unsung hero that sweeps into solving every closet-related predicament. Need something you can wear to the office without overheating in the summer? Ahem, skirt. Trying to pack for a trip? Roll up that skirt! Skirts are the staple you should turn to in the summertime (and every season, tbh) to solve all your styling woes.

But if you’re wondering which type of skirt is worth your time, I’m here to tell you there’s only one that’s up for the job: the midi. Sure, this hemline may not be as buzzy as other skirt trends, but the silhouette always returns from oblivion for a reason—the rationale being it’s so easy to style. You can pair midi skirts with just about any top or shoes. They come in various iterations and look good on just about everyone.

But if you’re not sold on how midi skirts are the staple you’ve been missing from your life, you’ll want to keep reading. I’ve rounded up 12 midi-skirt outfit ideas from women worldwide to show how this silhouette is the lifeblood of crafting a stylish wardrobe.

As far as skirt trends go, this past year has undoubtedly been the year of maxi hemlines and micro minis. Midi skirts haven’t ever been “out,” but I did put them on the back burner momentarily.
