    [ad_1]

These days it seems like you can barely buy a baguette for less than $5, so when I come across a quintessentially French find that doesn’t cost a fortune, I tend to take stock and spread the wealth.

The main difference is that this dress comes with an unbelievable price: $15. That’s right, for the cost of three artisanal baguettes, you can pick up a wear-everywhere dress that will see you through the entire summer.

Whether your upcoming plans consist of standing in front of the air conditioner or stuffing your carry-on bag to the brim, I’m sure this simple-yet-sophisticated staple can be worn almost every single day of the summer. • I Asked My Fashion Friends Which Skims Pieces Are Actually Life-Changing

I Asked My Fashion Friends Which Skims Pieces Are Actually Life-Changing

    [ad_1]

Lately, it feels like I can’t go one conversation about either basics and shapewear without someone raving about Skims. The funny thing is, I have not yet tried the popular brand, so I have admittedly felt a little out of the loop. This left me asking my circle of fashion friends which of the pieces they swear by. Sure enough, most of them are die-hard fans and even collectors. This, of course, is no surprise with the incredible rise of Skims.

A huge reason for that success, according to my friends, is the fact that all the pieces provide comfort without sacrificing style, thanks to the practical and effortless designs that are made in soft fabrics. We’re talking comfy thongs, versatile tops and body suits, cotton basics, effective shapewear, and so much more. Another welcome detail: the collections come in a wide range of sizes, which is always appreciated. Keep scrolling to check out thirty-one of the best Skims pieces to check out now.

  • The New Gen Of Kar-Jenners: North West Is Starting A Skincare Line

The New Gen Of Kar-Jenners: North West Is Starting A Skincare Line

    [ad_1]

In between posting dance videos, chaotic lip syncs, and performing a social experiment on Ice Spice to fully imitate her, North West is certainly TikTok’s busiest nepo baby. At all hours of the day, you can find @kimandnorth alive on the app. Whether it be North forcing Kim Kardashian to do dances created by Charli D’Amelio or posting sped-up videos of Drunk Elephant products – it’s wild.

And nine-year-old North West isn’t the only child of the Kar-Jenner clan who has entered the TikTok world to give us even more unnecessary shots into the Kardashian lifestyle. There’s also an account for @pandkourt (Penelope Disick and Kourtney Kardashian). But perhaps we have given the two children
too much attention for the time being.

What happens when you give the nine-year-old daughter of ego-maniac Kanye West and ultimate influencer Kim Kardashian a couple of million followers on TikTok? That’s right, a skincare brand. The old axiom is “the devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder,” but you weren’t even
    ready for momager Kim Kardashian.

The Kar-Jenner’s have what Kris Jenner didn’t have at this age: the biggest following collectively on Instagram and enough influence to dictate trends moving forward. This means it’ll be a hell of a lot easier for them to get their children the same platform and force them into the spotlight as the Next Gen of the Jenners.

    Kim Kardashian has already
filed trademarks for both a toy and skincare line on North’s behalf. The skincare line will feature non-medicated skin preparations, moisturizers, lotions, creams, and cleansers with the possibility of products like serums, haircare, and bath products in the future. As for the toy brand, expect dolls and action figures with the possibility of educational toys.

It’s borderline insanity to think that North West will be pushing skincare products to nine-year-old girls. While I’m all for the “doing what makes you feel good” mentality, not every young girl needs to be thinking about what serum to use. But maybe it’s just me.

Maybe I grew up in a different time and all nine-year-olds absolutely
have to have a routine because all TikTokers have one. Who’s to say! But I do know this is the beginning of the end. Not only do we have Kim’s Skims, Khloe’s Good American, Kylie’s Kylie Cosmetics, Kendall’s 818 and Kourtney’s Poosh, but now we are adding the children’s brands into the mix.

    @kimandnorth#duet with @icespicee ♬ Ac r7sheed – rhy 🎸🍃 🕸️

A clothing trademark had already been registered for North in 2019, just the mere beginning of what I’m sure will be a long line of influencing from here on out. Not to mention rumored trademarks for Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s first child, Stormi Webster, and Penelope Disick have flown about. I’m sure Khloe’s not far behind with True.

I shouldn’t be as shocked as I am, considering North
loves a good skincare TikTok. Whether it be trying SKKN by Kim or her plethora of brightly packaged moisturizers, she is already an influencer in the making.

Who knows if North even pays attention to good ingredients – we know she has the money to afford top-notch skincare that isn’t necessarily accessible to the rest of us, so before you buy SKKN, or North’s impending skincare line, here are my recs:

      1. Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum
      2. Paula’s Choice Power Berry Serum
      3. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
      4. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA/BHA Toner
      5. Skinfix barrier+ Triple Lipid + Collagen Brightening Eye Treatment

  • Things My Friends Keep Stealing From Me

Things My Friends Keep Stealing From Me

    [ad_1]

Since I write about products for a living, it’s safe to assume I own a lot of them. After all, I’m a consumer first and a writer second.

I like to find products that make me feel my best, so if enough people are claiming that a certain makeup brush changed their life, I will be trying it. I try to stay ahead of trends and weed out the ones that’ll last. Finding the top influencer rated products that actually work is my hobby.

I’ve been influenced by both brands that are actually worth it like Skims and Beis, and brands that actually aren’t worth it like Drunk Elephant and Tarte. It’s all a part of the process. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.

And because I’m under the firm belief that if you love something, buy two of it, you can imagine my room is a shopper’s paradise for my friends. You need perfume, makeup, clothes, bags? Come to me.

This is a long-winded way of saying my friends often steal my stuff. But that means these products are so worth it that they can’t help but take it from me. Here are my most “borrowed” items:

    Dior Forever Luminizer Highlighter

    Dior

This product makes me want to be a better person. The icy white highlight is unmatched – it’s what my friends liken to “snow queen” vibes. It’s perfect for your eyelids or as a highlighter.

The pan is huge, so it’ll last forever and the classic quilted Dior packaging makes it the perfect purse compact.

    Oribe SuperShine Cream

This cream speeds up your blow drying process and even has a pearlescent hue. My hair never feels healthier than when I use it and the shine rivals the sun. If you want the perfect blow out, use the tiniest bit of this cream.

Oribe sells salon-quality hair products, but they can be expensive. The SuperShine Cream is worth every penny and will last a lot longer than your usual leave-in since you need such a small amount.

    Beis Convertible Weekender Bag

I know TikTok has forced Beis down our throats, but it’s for a good reason. Shay Mitchell has single-handedly solved every traveler’s problem. The Convertible Weekender is perfect because the bottom fully unzips so you can keep shoes or dirty clothes in the bottom half.

While you may be scared to get the full-size because of how large they seem in videos, I’ve found that both the larger Work Tote and Weekender bags fit everything I need without being unmanageable.

    Voluspa Tahitian Coconut Vanilla Candle

    Sephora

I love a subtle island smell that isn’t overpowering or nauseating. The Voluspa Coconut Vanilla candle is exclusive to Sephora and smells almost identical to Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. All candles are actually made with coconut wax, so you’re getting a refreshing, non-artificial coconut scent.

I’m addicted to this scent and the Voluspa jars are perfect to reuse and repurpose. I’d take this candle over Diptyque any day.

    Ray Ban 1969

What my friends have dubbed the “Joe Burrows” are their favorite staple to steal. The rectangle frames are reminiscent of the famous Cartier shades, but hundreds of dollars cheaper. The brown frames are also refreshing compared to the classic black, so I was sold.

These are my go-to sunnies for when I’m making a fashion statement. The brown lens doesn’t block the sun as much, so they’re perfect even indoors a la Anna Wintour.

  • Must Read: Behind Skims’ Celebrity Casting Strategy, A Send-Off for Fashion’s Favorite Parisian Hangout

Must Read: Behind Skims’ Celebrity Casting Strategy, A Send-Off for Fashion’s Favorite Parisian Hangout

    [ad_1]

These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Tuesday

The strategy behind Skims’ viral “White Lotus” campaign
    Even with such an influential figure as Kim Kardashian at the helm of Skims, the brand has highly leaned into celebrity marketing. For its Valentine’s Day campaign, Skims tapped “The White Lotus” actors Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannò. For Business of Fashion, Diana Pearl reports that the campaign, though simple, is still effective due to its clever casting. “When the casting is this strong, this relevant and has such a nice tie to your brand story, you don’t really have to have too much more. The casting itself was the campaign,” said Kylie Vandeven, associate creative director at ad agency VMLY&R (who did not work on the campaign). {Business of Fashion}

  • Cailin Russo Talks Her New Single “PSYCHO FREAK” and LP “INFLUX” With Popdust

Cailin Russo Talks Her New Single “PSYCHO FREAK” and LP “INFLUX” With Popdust

    [ad_1]

Cailin Russo has been making a name for herself in both the music and fashion world. With over 50 million streams and an LP, INFLUX, coming March 3rd, Russo is providing us with catchy beats that transport us from our homes to the club. Her music makes you want to get up and dance, and her new single “PSYCHO FREAK” is no exception.

Russo penned “PSYCHO FREAK” after a night out and perfectly enshrines the feeling. She keeps a cheeky tone and upbeat vibe that makes you want to get up and dance. With lyrics like “please don’t take it personal when I can’t give you my own time” and a voicemail telling you she’s currently unavailable, you can feel the fun Russo had while creating the song.

Singles like “PSYCHO FREAK” and “DIE DOWN” are showing Russo’s fans a little glimpse of what her new LP, INFLUX, is all about. It’s guaranteed to provide us with songs of the summer, perfect for spending nights out and drinking champagne with your friends. Fans and new listeners alike can appreciate Cailin’s ability to create a track that gets people out of their chairs and onto their feet.

Alongside her music, Cailin has been insanely busy releasing a sold-out NFT for “DIE DOWN” and collaborating on a track for the game League of Legends for “Phoenix.” She has modeled for brands like Kim Kardashian’s Skims and walked via avatar for the fashion house AVAVAV in the first ever metaverse fashion show.

Now, exclusively with Popdust, Cailin gives us an inside look on her music. You can listen to Cailin’s new single, “PSYCHO FREAK,” here:

Your song “PSYCHO FREAK” was written after a night out and encapsulates club energy. How do your own experiences help you make music?

My own experiences open me up and create space to write about. I don’t go out alot but when I do, I love to feel liberated and translate that same energy into the music that can hopefully be felt by the listener. I aim to make my music energetically tangible

What was your favorite part about making the song?

My favorite part about making “PSYCHO FREAK” was that our main goal was to write an easy dance song that was super light hearted and catchy. And we did that… and drank a lot of champagne in the process.

Your new album INFLUX is coming March 3 and it’s amazing…what was the hardest part about making it?

The hardest part about making the album is all the promo for me, being social is alot. And tying up loose ends in terms of finalizing business. I don’t love busy work obviously. The creation was easy, I had a vision and people that really helped me follow through.

    Who’s inspiring you right now?

My broken heart is leading me where I need to go right now, I’ve been listening to ABRA, this new artist called “the fuckn arti$t” and Kaash Paige.

You’ve done work as a model, released a sold-out NFT, and are now releasing an album…how do you find a way to translate your love for fashion and art into your music?

I haven’t directly correlated those 2 really yet. I think I like to dress in a certain way that probably mirrors the way my music sounds.

Your avatar walked in the first ever metaverse fashion show in BNV for AVAVAV, what was that experience like? How was it different from your modeling at SKIMS and I.AM.GIA?

Well it was my third impression as a computer generated version of myself (I did a whole music video in IMVU and did a 3D render of myself mid 2020) but this was obviously very special to walk in a runway show. It’s a very interesting experience since you don’t have physical contact or interaction but it was very memorable and cool to be a part of.

  • The 6 Items French Girls Wear to Stay Warm and Still Look Cool

The 6 Items French Girls Wear to Stay Warm and Still Look Cool

    [ad_1]

Les Francaises have a knack for making everything look as easy as un, deux, trois. From their no-makeup makeup to the breathy way they draw out their ouis, French women seem to have being effortless cornered. This is particularly true in winter, when looking cute can feel like a Herculean task. Even at subzero temperatures, French women move about unbothered, which felt novel to this Californian; the last thing I feel like doing when it’s cold and gray out is putting together a look.

But the French have it down to a science! This is partly due to how they shop. French women typically invest in a few good pieces per season, favoring timeless pieces over au courant trends. A well-cut coat. Sticking to long-lasting durable fabrics that drape well. After my first winter in Paris, I picked up a few tips to make cold-weather dressing more fun—as well as a shearling coat and pair of camel riding boots that I still own today (after all, practice makes perfect.)

Follow along, and we’ll meet at the intersection of cozy and chic.

I Saved a Ton of Outfit Ideas This Year—These 8 Are the Ones I Actually Tried

    [ad_1]

Despite my best efforts, I am a 34928-tabs-open-at-all-times kinda gal. The alternative might mean banishing any fun finds to purgatory, i.e. my “favorites” (yeah, right) folder. The risk of that seven-layer chocolate cake recipe, DIY hair mask, and article about the health benefits of a nightly glass of red wine (important!) never seeing the light of day again is too high.

My Instagram saves are a different story. Here, there is a method to my madness. Call me Dame Dewey Decimal. I found most of my wedding vendors, brush up on my French, and discover new beauty hacks via long scrolling sessions.

Having all this inspiration at my fingertips has also helped break me out of a closet rut. I’ve been guilty of “hating everything in my closet” more times than I can count, when I’m really just a reconfiguration or single item away from a whole new vibe. Scroll along for the ‘fits that caught my eye—and that you’ll hopefully be inspired to test-drive in the New Year. (You know the saying—new year, new…)

Basics are essential items to any wardrobe, mostly because they’re so versatile. They can be paired with other items (including statement pieces and other basics) no matter your personal style. If you find yourself scrambling to put outfits together even though you own a wardrobe full of clothes, it may be time to invest in some reliable basics such as tank tops, shirts, and dress pants. Owning some of these staples is also essential if you are looking to build a capsule wardrobe, a tightly edited selection of clothing that will last and can be worn for any occasion.

Just because they are called basics doesn’t mean these items have to be boring. A simple tank top can be designed in a variety of cuts, styles, and colorways. I selected essential pieces that will elevate any outfit, from black body-con dresses to blazers and slip skirts. And as it just so happens, there are a lot of options to choose from under the $100 price mark. • So, Visible Thongs Are Out, and Granny Panties Peeking Out of Your Pants Are In

So, Visible Thongs Are Out, and Granny Panties Peeking Out of Your Pants Are In

    [ad_1]

The last time we coordinated our underwear with our outerwear was, well, never. But there’s a first time for everything, right?

If you tried out the visible-thong trend we’ve been tracking since 2020, including the peekaboo whale tale and the attention-grabbing G-string, then fear not. You’re definitely daring enough to tackle the 2022 version of stylish visible panty lines: high-rise panties that peek out from the top of your pants. While some may refer to this type of underwear as “granny panties,” members of the fashion set are demonstrating how to style the look in a way that is 100% intentional and not just the result of wearing big bloomers.

So what’s the key to achieving this delicate balance? We’re glad you asked: high waists, thick bands, and prominent logos for an extra “yes, I know you can see my undies” vibe. Experiment with boy shorts or lacy styles, classic cotton Calvin Kleins, and even newcomers to the category like Skims and MeUndies.

And remember: Comfort is always in style.

    [ad_1]

We all own that one piece of clothing we can’t get enough of, whether it’s a pair of jeans you can always rely on for a flattering outfit or the winter essentials you can’t live without as soon as the temperature drops. Some items just have that special quality that make them essentials and also compliment magnets from friends or strangers. And let’s be real: Getting complimented on an outfit or a piece of clothing feels amazing, especially when you’ve put effort into a specific look.

I zeroed in on three pieces of clothing I’ve been complimented on frequently, which have now become go-tos when putting outfits together. Faux leather is one of them. There’s something inherently sleek and fashionable when it comes to faux leather. We often think of pants or jackets, but there are so many options to choose from. Such versatility can also be found in knitwear (which has become a personal favorite in recent months). A good knit, whether it’s a maxi dress or a bustier top, makes any outfit stand out while keeping you cozy. You’ll also find various options when it comes to denim. It’s versatile and timeless, and I am convinced there’s a style of denim for everyone.

18 Pajama Sets for Your Best Beauty Sleep This Winter

    [ad_1]

Typically unseen by the general public, pajamas may not be a top priority on your shopping list — but we’d argue they’re underrated.

Wearing a matching set of pajamas to bed doesn’t exactly make you an adult, but it sure can make you feel like you have your life together. During winter’s shorter days and colder weather, I’ll take a bit of joy anywhere I can find it, even if it’s just putting on a cozy pair of PJs.

With the holidays just around the corner, a pajama set also makes a great gift for hard-to-shop-for loved ones — it’s something they wouldn’t necessarily splurge on for themselves, but will appreciate nonetheless. And with so many fabrics, styles and colors to choose from, you’ll have no problem finding a pair they (or you) will love. Brands seem to be investing in the sleepwear category more than ever lately, from expanding their offerings to launching special collaborations (like Tekla and Jacquemus).

You may have heard about The Met Gala, one of fashion’s most glittering nights…or Vogue World, Anna Wintour’s runway extravaganza… But when the Council of Fashion Designers of America hold their awards ceremony, they introduce the most impactful fashion icons and brands to the world.

Last night, the red carpet was flooded with some of the most influential style idols of our lifetime: Cher, Julia Fox debuting gray hair and “underwear as daywear”, everyone’s favorite, Keke Palmer, and the entirety of the Kardashian-Jenner collective.

All eyes, as per usual, fell on Kim Kardashian, winner of the Amazon Fashion Innovation Award for her shapewear brand, SKIMS. 2022 was a huge year for Kim’s brand, strenghtening through customer engagement, improved technology, and revolutionized how women shop for fashion.

Thanks to SKIMS, our shapewear bodysuits are now our outfit’s statement piece. They are bras designed to fit everybody. Shapewear’s no longer a taboo topic, but a staple in our wardrobe.

Chief investor, John Howard, credits SKIMS accessibility and success to Kim herself:

“We sell out because Kim Kardashian speaks to 333 million people on Instagram, which is like five Super Bowls, and we’re doing it every day with a continuous stream of new and interesting product.”

I’m a huge believer in the SKIMS magic. Seriously, there is no better confidence booster than a slightly-sculpting outfit curated by Kim K.
