Tumblers have been all the rage recently, likely due to the popularity of the Stanley cup. If you were looking to make some small environmentally-friendly changes to your lifestyle, investing in some reusable cups would certainly be a step in the right direction. Plus, keeping plastic bottles out of landfills will certainly go a long way. However, Stanley tumblers are expensive, so some of our favorite budget grocers have been rolling out their own tumblers that won’t break the bank.

Dollar Tree is the most recent to stock the shelves with some new tumblers, as spotted by Instagram account @dollartreeinsider. The 21-ounce tumblers have a gem-like exterior if you’re looking for a little extra sparkle in your life, and are retailing in four colors: white, orange, pink, and blue. Each tumbler is selling for $2 a cup. While we know the Dollar Tree is only supposed to be $1, a $2 cup is definitely a bargain compared to a $45 Stanley tumbler.

Since we keep mentioning Stanley products, it’s important to note that these Dollar Tree cups aren’t a replacement for the Stanley tumbler. They won’t provide the same insulation so your beverage of choice might not stay cold for as long. However, this Dollar Tree version would be great for water or iced coffee in a pinch, especially if you have a long commute to work. You can even bring this to your favorite coffee shop and have them fill it up to eliminate single-use plastic cups.

If you happen to spot these at Dollar Tree, just remember that these are seasonal, so you may want to grab one or two while you can. And, since we’re doing our part to help the environment, if you’re going to stock up on these, make sure to use them until you can’t anymore to honor the people who made them and reduce your environmental footprint as much as possible.

Aldi is one of our all-time favorite budget grocers — and we’re not the only ones who think so. From delicious snacks to inexpensive home decor and even wine selection, it’s nearly impossible to walk out of an Aldi with a less than full shopping cart. But not everyone is lucky enough to have an Aldi close enough to where they live to make it a justifiable trip. Fortunately, the brand has big expansion plans in the works to make the grocer a bit more accessible to those who can’t get to one, according to Aldi’s most recent press release

Aldi is set to open an additional 800 stores across the United States by the end of 2028. This will be a combination of brand-new openings and store conversions. With our current economy, people are looking to save money however they can, so this expansion will hopefully bring more fresh food choices with a low price tag to places that may not have too many inexpensive options otherwise.

“For more than a decade, Aldi has added hundreds of stores per year across the country,” said Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi. “This success would not be possible without our dedicated team members and supplier partners that bring our customers value and convenience every day. With our growth comes exciting opportunities for our teams and suppliers to grow with us.”

The brand is investing a whopping $9 billion on the nationwide expansion by continuing to add stores to the Northeast and Midwest, but also growing its presence on the West Coast (particularly in Southern California and Phoenix) and entering new territory like Las Vegas.

Aldi has also recently acquired Southeastern Grocers and their Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket labels, which will convert to the Aldi layout over the next few years. The company is continuing to ensure that as it expands, the environmental footprint doesn’t expand as well. Aldi is remodeling stores to include energy-efficient LED lighting, environmentally friendly refrigeration systems, and rooftop solar systems.

While there are a lot of changes in the works, customers can expect the same grocery experience they’re used to — the one that keeps them coming back.

Who says Kringles only have to be eaten around Christmas? While it’s typical for the Northern European pastry to be consumed during the holiday season, one of our favorite grocers, Trader Joe’s, has historically sold the treat year-round in seasonal flavors like Cheesecake, Pumpkin Caramel, and Pecan. Fortunately for us, one of our old favorites is back on the shelves once again, as spotted by Instagrammer @trader_joes_treasure_hunt

The Raspberry Kringle embodies your standard delicious flaky pastry, but stuffed with tart raspberry filling and topped with a sweet icing. We would recommend serving this warm, but feel free to enjoy it in the way that tastes best to you. You can even top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a pie-like dessert.

Commenters on the post chimed in saying that raspberry is their favorite Kringle flavor of all time and we don’t blame them. There’s even a Reddit thread dedicated solely to the dessert, with users praising the find.

“WOW. It’s so good!!!! 10/10. Omg way worth the hype I love it,” wrote one commenter. “I suddenly need to drive an hour and a half to my nearest Trader Joe’s…” said another user.

The treat is perfect to lay out as a dessert at any dinner party, celebration, or can even just be enjoyed on its own. You can also store it in the freezer and defrost when you’re ready to eat so the Kringle will last longer, if you’re thinking about buying more than one (which you should).

You’ll definitely want to add a few of these to your cart while you can. One Kringle is selling for $9.99 each and since they are seasonal, there will only be a limited amount hitting the stores. Make sure to try them while you can!

  • I Tried Chinese-Style “Silken Eggs” and They’re So Good, I Made Them Twice In One Day

I Tried Chinese-Style “Silken Eggs” and They’re So Good, I Made Them Twice In One Day

    [ad_1]

Social media is an incredible tool for sparking inspiration in the kitchen, like with this viral mac and cheese, or this Trader Joe’s dumpling hack. When a new cooking trend goes viral, I can’t help but want to give it a try, and these Chinese Silken Eggs are currently taking over my TikTok feed.

If you’re not familiar, Chinese silken eggs are a traditional Chinese dish found all over China. It’s a soft egg dish that has been steamed in a bowl, sliced, and served with sauce on top. (This method is also similar to making Korean-Style Steamed Eggs.) The videos online show fluffy, jiggly eggs that almost resemble a custard, but it’s actually meant to be a savory dish served for breakfast. So of course, being the breakfast lover that I am, I had to give this recipe a try.

After watching a few videos of how to make Chinese Silken Eggs, I decided to go with Kylie Sakaida’s take on the viral recipe. She’s a registered dietitian who claims to regularly make this breakfast recipe, so I followed her lead for how to make these eggs and what to serve with them.

Get the recipe: Chinese Silken Eggs

How to Make Chinese Silken Eggs

Whisk together 2 large eggs with 3/4 cup of water and a pinch of salt. Strain the egg mixture into a bowl with a fine mesh strainer. The bowl you choose should be able to handle heat, like for a microwave or oven.

Wrap the bowl with plastic wrap, then place in a steamer. Steam the eggs for 12 minutes.

Remove the bowl carefully from the steamer, then peel off the plastic wrap. Drizzle the top with soy sauce and sesame oil. Slice the egg into cubes to allow the sauce and oil to seep into the cooked eggs.

Top with sliced scallions and serve with rice and kimchi, if desired.

I’ve never steamed eggs before, so trying this was a new cooking experience for me, and it was surprisingly a very easy one. This method produces a light, fluffy egg that is delicate with each bite. Paired with the spicy kimchi and the rice, topped with sliced scallions, these silken eggs are full of flavor and absolutely a meal I would make again.

I would make this for breakfast (maybe without the kimchi, because eating super spicy foods first thing in the morning is not my favorite), but I also found this to be a really filling and tasty lunch. I’m not against eating breakfast foods at all times of the day, so this meal is certainly one I will turn to if I need an easy meal to cook if I’m feeling stuck on what to make for breakfast or lunch.

Target has truly outdone themselves with the seasonal decor products this year. We have particularly loved these colorful measuring cups and spring plates, but if you’re searching for some more hosting essentials, there’s a new kitchen product you may want to consider adding to your cart the next time you find yourself at Target.

The Room Essentials Figural Flower Snack Bowl is truly ideal for more than just snacks — but we’ll get to that later. For $3 each, the bowl is available in yellow, pink, and blue, but is most notable for its unique shape. The structure resembles a flower with petals that will add an element of design to your hosting spread in addition to a functional staple you can use all year round. Not to mention, you’ll definitely receive a ton of compliments.

“Much prettier in person,” wrote one reviewer. “They will be a cheerful addition for spring snacking and make a cute breakfast place setting paired with other pieces from the spring collection. At the price, they were a worthwhile addition to my collection!”

“I’ve had them for four years now,” said another commenter. “They are made of hard plastic [and are of] good quality. The only thing [is that] they ain’t microwave safe.”

You can fill the bowl with snacks and dip while hosting, but you can also grab a few to create a set to use for dinner parties. This would make the perfect salad vessel, dessert bowl, or you can even add in seasonal treats to use it as a centerpiece.

Each bowl holds 14-ounces and is BPA-free. While the bowl isn’t suitable for the microwave, it’s dishwasher safe, making cleanup all the more easy. If you can’t find this at your local Target, you can also order them online, but you may want to make the move soon — these will be gone before you know it.

Many of us already know about the nationwide dairy recall that occurred at the beginning of this year that included items like cheese, yogurt, and sour cream, leading to a growing number of cases of sickness along with two deaths. (The recall even included a handful of Trader Joe’s products, plus dairy products included in premade meals from Costco, Albertsons, and Safeway.) However, the recalls haven’t stopped as Sargento Foods, Inc. of Plymouth, Wisconsin, just announced that certain shredded, packaged, and grated cheese products are being recalled due to potential Listeria contamination.

So far, it has been noted that the recalled products were distributed in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Even if you don’t reside in one of these states, you might want to proceed with caution when it comes to Sargento cheese products.

The list of recalled cheeses includes Cotija cheese, Parmesan cheese, Swiss cheese, Asiago cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, queso quesadilla cheese, white cheddar cheese, and cheddar cheese, plus bistro and Italian cheese blends.

If you happen to have one of these cheeses in your fridge and live in one of the states where items could be contaminated, you should throw it away immediately or return the cheese to its place of purchase for a full refund. Even if the cheese looks and smells okay, the cheese may cause life-threatening illness if it happens to be contaminated.

Mild symptoms of listeria include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Listeria can be particularly detrimental for children, people who are pregnant, the elderly, and those who are immunocompromised. It can take up to 70 days from exposure to experience any symptoms, so if you believe you accidentally ate contaminated products, monitor yourself closely and speak with a medical professional.

We’re obsessed with Trader Joe’s desserts, and it’s hard not to see why. From frozen chocolate lava cakes, to ice cream sandwiches, to cookies, there’s a treat for whatever your sweet tooth is craving. However, when talking about the grocer’s stellar sweet treats, we’d be remiss not to mention their baked goods section, full of fresh breads and delicious pastries.

Lucky for us, a new baked dessert is now gracing the shelves and we can’t wait to dig into it all summer long. Spotted by Instagram account @trader_joes_treasure_hunt, the grocer is now selling a Lemon Flavored Mini Sheet Cake for $5.99 per cake, although one commenter on the post did mention that their store was selling it for $4.99.

The lemon cake is both moist and rich in flavor. It’s topped with a lemon cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with lemon zest. It’s no secret that citrus is ideal for the warm-weather months, so this new cake would make the perfect cap to any spring picnic, summer barbecue, or even just as a sweet and fresh addition to your afternoon tea.

Commenters on the post expressed their joy over the new treat and shared plans to pick it up for themselves during their next grocery trip. “Adds to list,” wrote one commenter. “Definitely can’t wait to try this,” said another.

If you do happen to add one of these cakes to your cart, but don’t want to wait to get home to give it a try, don’t forget that Trader Joe’s checkout counters are stocked with utensils. There’s nothing quite like a few bites of cake to make the trip home more bearable.

As with all Trader Joe’s products, you never know when they’re going to disappear, so if you’re a citrus-lover, you’ll want to grab this when you see it.

One of the best parts about childhood was hearing the sound of the ice cream truck heading down your street during the summer months. You likely dropped what you were doing and ran to the nearest adult, asking for a few dollars to get your hands on a sweet and cold treat. Whether you were a fan of the beloved Choco Taco, a loyal advocate for Good Humor Bars, or always opted for a Firecracker, many of us likely recall Klondike’s Oreo Ice Cream sandwich, a dessert that only ever seemed to come from the ice cream man — and you probably haven’t gotten a taste of one in years.

Well, if we have officially caused an Oreo ice cream craving, Costco is now selling an item reminiscent of the original Klondike treat that has members feeling like a kid again. Spotted by Instagram account @costcobuys, the bulk retailer is now selling a 24-pack of Oreo Ice Cream Sandwiches — big Oreo wafer sandwich cookies and creamy ice cream, perfect for both Oreo and ice cream lovers. (Let’s face it: That’s most of us.) Each box is currently retailing for $19.89.

However, if you can’t find these at Costco or they are sold out at your local warehouse, other retailers seem to have stocked their freezers with the frozen dessert like Target and Walmart, just in smaller boxes.

“Seriously our new favorite ice cream sandwich. Please never discontinue this!” wrote one reviewer. “These are probably one of my fave ice cream sandwiches ever!! If you love regular Oreos then you will definitely love these as well!!” said another ice cream enthusiast.

So, if you feel like treating yourself, which we always encourage, you may want to add these to your cart if you’re lucky enough to spot them.

  • I Tried Selena Gomez’s Favorite Chicken Dinner from Her Nana, and I’ll Definitely Be Making It Again

I Tried Selena Gomez’s Favorite Chicken Dinner from Her Nana, and I’ll Definitely Be Making It Again

    [ad_1]

Everyone has that one dish that is a comfort food staple. For me, it’s my grandma’s Italian meatballs. For Selena Gomez, it’s her Nana’s tortilla chip chicken casserole. Made with very simple ingredients, this casserole is a cheesy comforting dinner that is one of Gomez’s favorite childhood dishes. On her HBO Max show Selena + Chef back in 2020, she brings Nana herself on the show as the two of them demonstrate how to make her favorite meal. Watching her crinkle the tortilla chips and layer the casserole with thick slices of Velveeta cheese had my stomach growling, so of course, I had to give it a try myself.

How to Make Selena Gomez’s Chicken Tortilla Chip Casserole

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In an oven-safe casserole dish, cover the bottom with a layer of finely crushed tortilla chips. (Selena and her Nana seem to be using Doritos!)

Add another layer of strips of cooked chicken. A rotisserie chicken works well here!

Next, add a layer of chopped yellow onion and jalapeño. Then finish off this layer with slices of Velveeta cheese.

Repeat the same process for a second layer; crushed tortilla chips, strips of chicken, onion and jalapeños. The jalapeños are technically optional for this second layer, so if you’re not big on spicy, feel free to skip it the second time.

Pour 2 cups of chicken broth over the casserole dish. You may not need as much; you’ll know if it’s the right amount if your ingredients are soaked but not completely submerged.

Finish it off with slices of Velveeta cheese. For the authentic “Selena-style” you can add more crushed tortilla chips, and of course, feel free to add more onions and jalapeños if you like.

Bake the casserole for 20 minutes, then serve warm.

This is the kind of comfort meal that reminds me of cold nights with my in-laws in the Midwest: comforting, tasty, cozy, and incredibly easy to make. It uses ingredients that you already have, and it doesn’t take long to throw together. The simplicity of this recipe alone has earned major brownie points in my eyes.

Now typically with simple recipes like this, I tend to be skeptical. Can a comforting casserole really be good if the main source of carbohydrate is a bag of tortilla chips? Surprisingly enough, this recipe works. The chicken broth soaks the crushed tortilla chips enough that it creates a filling base that isn’t soggy or bland. The combination with the melted Velveeta cheese and the chicken and the potent jalapeños mixes well, and I may just find myself adding this to my weekly meal rotation. Especially knowing how easy it is to throw together!

Also, for not having any seasonings (even salt and pepper!) this casserole still had a lot of flavor. I think the saltiness from the chips and the spice from the vegetables gives it enough where you don’t have to worry about adding in a ton of seasoning, which I was pleased with after being skeptical with the ingredient list.

However, I will be making one edit the next time I make it. I don’t think adding raw vegetables to this casserole works — I still felt like I was chewing on raw onions and jalapeños even after this casserole was cooked in the oven. Instead, I think I might sauté the vegetables before adding it in. Sure, it adds another step, but I think it will elevate the taste and texture of this dish.

With the countdown to spring underway, grocers have been rolling out the red carpet for the seasonal products, getting us amped up for the warm weather months. One of our favorite grocers, Trader Joe’s, has certainly spoiled us lately with their highly anticipated new nostalgic item shelf, but their latest dessert has us feeling not only excited for spring, but also nostalgic for snack time during our childhood.

Instagram account @trader_joes_treasure_hunt put the Cheery Lemon Animal Crackers on our radar, and if you think you’ve seen these before, they are certainly reminiscent of the pink and white frosted circus animal cookies from growing up. (The elementary school classmate that had these was always the most popular person in the room.) This adult Trader Joe’s version puts a spin on a classic animal cracker with its yellow lemony yogurt coating and rainbow colored crunchy candy sprinkle topping. Not to mention, all the colors in the treat are derived from natural ingredients like vegetable juice and turmeric.

“The grinspiration of these Crackers is further found in the chipper crunch of their lightly sweet, cookie-like character,” writes Trader Joe’s on their website. “Multiplying this mirth, each Cracker is cut into one of 13 unique & gladsome Animals, including: bears, elephants, cats, donkeys, goats, tigers, lions, horses, cows, rhinos, camels, bison, and hippos.”

The cookies come in a perfectly portioned single-serve package that can be brought along as an after lunch treat, an afternoon pick-me-up, or can be enjoyed in the evening for dessert. It’s important to note that the cookies are only going to be available for a limited time, so make sure to try them while you can. Each bag is selling for $0.99 each, but let’s be real: you’ll probably want to snag at least five. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

With spring cleaning underway, sometimes all you need to feel refreshed in your space is replacing a few of those old items with some new and improved pieces. Whether it’s some new storage containers, a sleek wooden candle, or adding a new appliance to your collection that will make cooking simpler, a few upgrades may give you that inspiration you need in the kitchen. And let’s face it, we all need some extra motivation every once in a while.

Target always has some great home decor and kitchenware finds with inexpensive price tags, especially at their Bullseye Playground (formerly known as the Target Dollar Spot). The section, typically found at the front of the store, features curated seasonal products for under $5.

Fans of the store have taken to social media to share their favorite finds, including Instagram account @targetiseverything, who just shared some new products to add to your kitchen stash. However, we’re particularly intrigued by the newest measuring cups, retailing in both clear and pink. With their unique shape that’s wider on the bottom and narrower on the top, the cups feature a rim that is reminiscent of a mason jar, making the design a special addition to your kitchenware.

Users were excited to see if they could find the cup for themselves and were raving about the new release. “I need that measuring cup In my life,” wrote one commenter.

Unfortunately, as with all Bullseye Playground items, they are unavailable online so you’ll have to head over to your local Target to find them. However, if you do see them and are thinking of adding them to your cart, you may want to do that soon — these will be gone before you know it.

Adding a few new pieces to your kitchen is an easy way to give your space a refresh without bringing in the professionals. And a budget retailer like Five Below allows us to do that in a way that is both inexpensive and on trend. With spring on the horizon, the retailer has been rolling out the warm weather decor that people just can’t seem to get enough of. If you loved the Glass Sipper Mugs, but are looking for something a tad more festive, an Instagram account found an adorable, yet functional, item that may be just what you’re looking for.

User @doingitondimes spotted three new glass cups featuring fruit designs like strawberries, cherries, and peaches. Each glass features a handle for your convenience, a silicone cover to protect your beverage from any outside grime, and a topper for the glass straw.

The cups are retailing for $5 each, but since the product isn’t available online, the actual dimensions are unclear. However, we believe it’s similar to the other Room to Room Glass Mug. Commenters were loving the find, so we imagine these will sell out quickly, and as with all seasonal products, they may not restock. So, if you are unable to find these at your local Five Below or they have already sold out, Amazon is selling a similar Strawberry Clear Glass Mug for at a slightly higher price point of $15.

Ideal for iced tea or coffee, juice, or lemonade, you’ll be sipping in style throughout the spring and summer — and for years to come. Also, if you have children, they will surely get a kick out of the adorable patterns. Plus, with both the silicone cover and the straw topper, you can prevent any accidental spills. However, the topper is small and can be pulled off which can be a choking hazard, so if you use this for your little ones, just make sure to keep an eye on them.

Many recipes, particularly if you’re baking, call for softened butter. While the debate of keeping butter in the refrigerator or out on the counter lives on, for those of us that feel more comfortable storing it in a cold place, the sticks tend to harden from the chilly temperature. I’m personally guilty of tossing butter into the microwave for a few seconds to soften it, but this tends to fully melt the butter. According to a new post by Instagram account @milkandcardamon, there’s an alternative that will soften your butter, without liquifying it entirely.

“Pro tip: Do NOT microwave butter to soften it for a recipe that calls for softened or room temperature butter,” writes the user in the post’s caption. “The microwave will melt your butter rather than soften it, and that affects how the cake will turn out!”

To soften the refrigerated butter, the Instagrammer pours boiling water into a tall glass and allows it to sit for five minutes. They then dump out the water and place the heated glass over the stick of butter and allow it to sit for an additional five minutes. The butter will soften to perfection without melting.

“Remember, you can’t cream sugar with melted butter,” the creator continues. “Creaming butter and sugar together until it’s light and fluffy is a basic step in a lot of baking recipes and it’s essential for a good bake. When sugar is beaten with softened butter, it provides aeration, leavening, volume, a tender texture (if you’ve made greasy dense cakes — melted butter could be why), flavor, and so much more! Melted butter will dissolve the sugar which will change the entire recipe and how it’ll look and turn out.”

Commenters were loving the tip and we can see why. If you need softened butter in a pinch, you may want to give this a try.

Plus, they’re both dishwasher and microwave safe making for easy cleanup, reheating, and preparation. While these are perfect for Easter, Mother’s Day, or any springtime meal, the design is simple, yet elegant, so you can certainly use these all year round.

Next, the Instagram account found these stunning Stoneware Dinner Plates in both blue and pink, each retailing for $4. The pastel coloring makes these a subtly alluring addition to your hosting table, ideal for an appetizer, main course, or even dessert. The scalloped rim also adds a unique design element that will elevate your kitchenware collection — and definitely get you a ton of compliments.

The user also showed off the Figural Bunny Serving Platter for $20 that will make the cutest base for your spring charcuterie board. Top with your favorite cheeses and meats or go for a springtime candy board full of chocolates, sour gummies, and pink-frosted cookies.

Lastly, the Instagram account found a sleek Bunny Salad Plate with a classic springtime image featuring a rabbit with some flowers. Both adults and children will get a kick out of these so you may want to grab a few so all your guests can get in on the fun.

With so many different plates to choose from, you can mix and match, but everything will still remain cohesive. You’ll want to head over to Target to grab a few before they’re gone.

If you can’t wait to start your fruit and vegetable garden for the season, World Market’s new strawberry-themed collection has your name written all over it. The Strawberry Figural Kitchenware Collection recently launched online with prices starting at $8.99 and everything is so cute.

In the meantime, the cutest of the bunch by far is the $9 strawberry mug because there’s just no limit to the number of mugs in our collection. World Market’s strawberry mug holds 17 ounces (that’s a lot of coffee!), and the hardy stoneware can stand up to the dishwasher and microwave, too. According to one happy shopper, the mug is “So beautiful and well made! I love anything strawberry and this gave me happiness in a cup 🍓😍.”

If the World Market strawberry mugs are out of stock by the time you’re ready to check out, Amazon has a similar mug for a few dollars more. The price difference might be worth the quick shipping and convenience for such an adorable addition to your mug collection.

We also can’t get enough of the strawberry-shaped measuring cups. They’re almost too cute to even use, and at just $17 for a set, they’re not too bad on the wallet either. They come in four different measurements (1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup, and 1 cup) and each one has a little stem-shaped handle for convenience. The durable stoneware makes them safe for the dishwasher and microwave just like the mug, though we usually skip the former because a quick rinse is just easier. Best of all, the measuring cups nestle neatly within each other for storage — though we highly doubt you’ll want to hide them in your cabinets.

No matter which strawberry-themed accessory you grab though, be sure to do it quickly — a few of the items are already sold out, and we totally get why! To quote a happy shopper who got their hands on the whole collection: “I love the entire Hand Painted Strawberry Figural Collection. The colors are strong and vibrant, the material easy care, and the figural designs are beautiful. I have purchased the entire set.”

Buy: World Market Hand Painted Strawberry Figural Ceramic Mug, $8.99; A.F.N.A.L. Store Strawberry Ceramic Mug, $17.99; World Market Hand Painted Ceramic Strawberry Figural Measuring Cups, $16.99

Costco warehouses are full of fantastic products for amazing deals on bulk items including groceries, household essentials, and even clothing. However, some larger items like furniture and big appliances may not necessarily be found in physical stores as they are online, making it a challenge to know exactly what you’re buying when you’re buying it. Luckily, according to recent news, the giant is about to open a showroom solely dedicated to furniture and appliances — a concept we can certainly get behind.

Once a Toy R Us in Anchorage, Alaska, Costco is planning to open the doors to this new type of warehouse. Pending permits, according to  Christine Lasley, a Costco director of real estate and development as reported in Anchorage Daily News, the showroom doesn’t have an official launch date just yet.

Lasley also told the publication that they are doing this to meet the needs of its members so people can see exactly what they’re going to buy. This is also intended to serve businesses who may need to purchase items in bulk.

Some long-time loyal members may also recall the brand testing a concept similar to this one in Kirkland, Washington, close to their Issaquah, Washington, headquarters. However, that location shut its doors in 2009.

A thread on Reddit has members speculating about the concept and attribute it to Alaska’s remoteness and its limited access to big ticket items. Others are excited to see if the idea will be successful and hope to see it expand to larger markets. While the future is unknown, if the showroom prospers, this could be a huge Costco game-changer, and we can only hope it will expand to the lower 48 — and Hawaii.

  • Trader Joe’s Just Brought Back a $3 French Dessert That Shoppers Are Calling “Dangerously Delicious”

However, one of the downsides of Trader Joe’s is that products come and go faster than you may be able to drive to your local store. On the bright side, some fan-favorite items tend to make an exciting comeback from time to time. The most recent to land on the shelves once again are the French Chocolate Crepe Wafer Cookies for $2.99 per box, as spotted by Instagram account @traderjoestalia.

Rolled thin crispy wafers are dunked in a rich and creamy milk chocolate for a delicious cookie. Plus, these cookies are made from a supplier in France and they are smaller than you may think, with a serving size of six pieces for 150 calories. Unfortunately, they do contain milk and wheat so they are not suitable for our gluten-free and dairy-free friends.

There is even a Reddit thread dedicated to the treat with updates on when these come around. (They have disappeared and reappeared a handful of times over the past few years.)

“I may or may not have bought 4 boxes of these today,” wrote one Reddit user. “I really like these delicate things but it’s hard not to inhale the whole box,” wrote another commenter.

Another user also noted that sometimes these appear at Costco so you may be able to snag them there as well if you can’t find them at Trader Joe’s. A Trader Joe’s employee did indeed note that these usually disappear quickly so if you’re thinking of stocking up, now would be the time to do it.

  • The Fan-Favorite 12-Piece Kitchen Storage Set At Aldi Is Back for Just $15 — But Won’t Last Long!

The Fan-Favorite 12-Piece Kitchen Storage Set At Aldi Is Back for Just $15 — But Won’t Last Long!

Having good food storage containers for meal prep is critical for keeping your meals fresh and protecting them from outside grime. Not to mention, containers that are easily stackable will keep your fridge as organized and clutter-free as possible. So, if you need any justification to adding some more vessels to your collection, hopefully this does the trick.

Fortunately, Aldi is selling Crofton’s 12-Piece Glass Bowl Set with snapping lids that are both sleek in design and durable and functional. Each set includes six bowls of varying sizes with six matching lids. The snapping lids create a seal with airtight silicone gaskets that are leak-resistant, so you won’t have to worry about a mess after throwing these in your bag. Plus, the set even comes with a dry erase marker so you can label your containers.

Spotted in the store by Instagrammer @ohheyaldi, these containers, part of this week’s Aldi Finds drop, are sure to have shoppers running to the store.

Opting for glass containers is a more environmentally-friendly option to their plastic counterparts. They are easier to recycle when the time comes, and they also don’t absorb food odors quite like plastic does.

According to a Reddit thread, those who have tried the containers love them and admire how well they have held up over time.

“I love mine,” wrote one commenter. “I’ve had them for several years and they’re holding up fine. I do put both the bowls and the lids in the dishwasher, but if you want the lids to keep their shape and last longer you may want to hand wash them. I use the bowls in the microwave but not the lids. I have not tried freezing anything in them. I have even dropped them a few times and they haven’t broken or chipped.”

If you’re already sold, you can pick a set up in red or gray at your local Aldi for $14.99.
