  • I Love a Dainty Watch, But I Tried On This Men's Style, and Now I'm Obsessed

I Love a Dainty Watch, But I Tried On This Men's Style, and Now I'm Obsessed

    [ad_1]

The fashion world is currently enamored with watches, especially ones designed for and worn by women. Instagram is loaded with them, showcased on wrists and stacked alongside sculptural bracelets or in a decorative box to show off a growing collection. In a retail space once dominated by men, women are embracing these meticulously crafted and categorically luxurious investment items with open arms.

In the past, celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez dabbled in larger timepieces, but this time around, most of the watches that are trending among women are rather dainty in size. Think smaller Tanks and Baignoires and Lady Datejusts.  While I am nothing if not smitten with all three of the aforementioned styles, I’m also someone who spent her early 20s in a men’s Seiko stolen from her father, which is why I’ve always had a soft spot for bigger, more substantial timepieces when time is taken to choose the right one and, of course, it is styled just right.

One trick to styling a men’s watch is to stick with cases that are 40 millimeters or below. Anything larger than that tends to be overly showy, a trait that’s best avoided, especially for an everyday watch. (Luxury watches are expensive and sought after, so you don’t want to draw an abundance of attention to yours. In 2022, nearly 7000 Rolexes were reported stolen or missing, according to data from The Watch Register.) I also prefer to go for classic color options and minimal designs that can be dressed up or down and will fit seamlessly with my existing jewelry collection and wardrobe.

  • The Luxurious Coat Trend That Will Define 2024

The Luxurious Coat Trend That Will Define 2024

    [ad_1]

    Photo:

We should start our argument by stating that satin coats have been around for a long time. Although not as seemingly a massive outerwear trend at the time, we did see satin coats surface on the runways earlier last year. One might recall when models donned pastel satin coats that were as slick as ice in 16Arlington’s S/S 23 show. Or perhaps how, in Givenchy’s F/W 23 show, double-breasted coats were reworked and fashioned from high-shine (but dark) satin textiles. While each collection was stunning, no doubt, their subsequent impacts on the cultural fabric were not something that registered at first—at least, until the release of S/S 24 collections.

One could argue that these two collections set the blueprint for what was to come, as across spring shows, we saw every type of satin outerwear imaginable: trench coats, posh puffers, oversized blazers, and so on. Although each collection’s approach was, arguably, different, the throughline was that satin was the fabric of choice in making those more “simple” silhouettes shine again. It’s a trend that feels indicative of the larger influence that the “quiet luxury” movement had on shifting our collective relationship with clothing. With so much of the focus on items that lend themselves to being a part of a capsule wardrobe, there has been a vacuum for pieces that could find that fine balance between appealing to minimalists and maximalists—satin coats manage to fill that space.

In an effort to prove that point, we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up looks from the runway and real life that display the versatility of satin coats. Plus, we’ve shopped out the best satin jackets from high-street and affordable fashion brands for good measure. If these looks don’t convince you that satin coats will be the defining outerwear trend of 2024, nothing will.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Just Wore the Elevated Jacket We'll All Buy in 2024

Jennifer Lawrence Just Wore the Elevated Jacket We'll All Buy in 2024

    [ad_1]

A new year calls for fresh outfit inspiration, and one of our favorite celebrities is already leading the charge. Jennifer Lawrence was pictured polishing up her casual outfit in the most 2024 way. Predicted by the runways to be a major trend next season, Lawrence proved she’s ahead of the fashion game with her excellent styling of a black leather blazer by The Row

A supremely chic outerwear option, a leather blazer combines the elegance of a classic blazer with the refined sheen and expensive smoothness of leather. Styling a denim and leather pairing, the actress kept her outfit looking casual yet elevated through her clever layering of textures. Completing her look with banana-milk yellow slippers (also by The Row) and black wide-leg trousers, Lawrence’s casual outfit provided a template for comfortable yet stylish winter dressing.

  • I Live in Venice Beach Where Low-Key Style Is It—These Outfits Hit

I Live in Venice Beach Where Low-Key Style Is It—These Outfits Hit

    [ad_1]

I’ve always been a city girl. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, grew up in Houston, and upon moving to L.A., lived comfortably east of the 405 for years. But a California hazard they don’t warn you about is that you might meet a cute surfer who eventually lures you all the way west. After some cajoling, I gave in to my inner Pisces, packed up my gray Tabby, and moved us across town to the sun-dappled, salty-aired streets of Venice Beach.

It’s been six years since, and while I may not yet be a bona fide beach babe (I still prefer reading on the sand to roaring waves), it’s home. My hair is blonder, my mornings slower, and I love the neighborhood’s walkability and proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Every time I catch another glorious pink sunset, it does feel a little like living in a fantasy.

If you’ve ever experienced L.A. traffic, you know how vast and sprawling the city is. Different zip codes mean different dress codes, and the attitude in Venice is very relaxed. Denim and comfy shoes reign supreme, and a knit is a must to combat the almost-always-present marine layer. Most of my bolder pieces have been relegated to the back of my closet, awaiting invites for martinis at Tower Bar, dancing at A Club Called Rhonda, and too much pasta at Little Dom’s. So while my highlights may not be low-maintenance, my approach to daily dressing is.

Keep reading for three of my tried-and-true outfits for your next trip to the beach.

  • I'm Not a Bag Person, But These 5 Styles Go With Everything I Own

I'm Not a Bag Person, But These 5 Styles Go With Everything I Own

    [ad_1]

It’s no surprise that some of the top-selling bags on our favorite sites like J.Crew, Nordstrom, and Shopbop are also classic shapes. If you’re a minimalist who reaches for the same basics again and again, and your bag rotation happens to follow suit, make sure you own these five specific silhouettes, because there’s truly nothing else you need.

First up, there’s J.Crew’s Geneva, a satin clutch offered in three colorways with a short handle at the top. Whether you style it with low-rise denim, a minidress, or a skirt and tights, there’s no denying it’s the one accessory that will get you through party season. Tory Burch’s Lee Radziwill tote, named after the famous ’60s and ’70s style icon, is that luxe, structural tote bag that’s perfect for work or really whenever you want to elevate your neutrals. Topshop’s crossbody flap bag rings in at an incredible price for a wear-anywhere rectangular satchel you throw on to play up a preppy outfit or accent black accessories. Mango’s leather shopper is similar in that it’s under $100. However, this roomy tote is better for polishing casual off-duty days and feels way more relaxed in form. Finally, a sling bag of any material is ideal for days you’re traveling, running errands, or just want to be hands-free. Whether you shop St. Agni’s best selling soft crescent bag or a different pouch with a similar vibe, you’ll reach for it whenever you’re on the go.

Ahead, we’ve highlighted these five foolproof, perfectly versatile bags in multiple colorways and provided street style inspiration for each one.

Don’t get us wrong, some things are wonderful about the holiday season, but once you get past all of the festivities, you realize that it’s a bit dark (literally and figuratively). It’s likely to dissipate after the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve. Basically, the wintertime can be challenging, even for those who love this time of year.

It’s only natural then that we’d have to find ways to cultivate tiny pockets of joy—enter date night into the chat. As silly as it might seem, having something to look forward to in these colder months is a saving grace, even if said thing is as simple as a night out. 7 Chic Ways French Girls Are Wearing Leggings Right Now

If you thought that French girls only wore straight-leg jeans and miniskirts, think again. Studies show that their wardrobes are far more nuanced. One of the typical American girl wardrobe staples they also wear a ton are leggings. And they don’t just wear them to pilates class—they wear them as part of their non-workout outfits too.

While doing my legging research, I found that French women have some pretty creative ways of styling leggings. They seem to even stay away from gym-appropriate legging outfits, instead opting for more elevated looks that prove the versatility of leggings.

I selected seven stand-out legging outfits that French women have worn recently in case you’re looking for a little styling inspiration this winter. After all, winter is when most of us reach for leggings the most often and it can get a little dull. So scroll on to shop the French girl-approved outfits that are chic enough to copy.

Here's the Tea—NY Fashion Girls Are Wearing These 5 Outfit Formulas On Repeat

    [ad_1]

I might be biased, but New Yorkers have the best style. Walking out my own front door, there is never a shortage of daily inspiration to soak up on the street, the subway, or even my local coffee shop line. As the temperatures start to drop, I have been needing my own dose of motivation to get dressed and get out there. That’s why I am looking to some New York-based women for some chic outfit ideas that are weather-appropriate, yet also totally easy to pull off. It may be all about the attitude of a New Yorker, but these outfit formulas will truly make you feel like one—no matter where you are based.

I find that the best outfit combos are sometimes the simplest. As New Yorkers, we are constantly on-the-go and that doesn’t leave a lot of extra time for fiddling around with options. Layering is always a key component to our looks—on any given day, the weather can shift from sun and mild temperatures to snow and subzero in a matter of hours. With this in mind, I am gravitating towards looks filled with wearable basics—cozy knitwear, plenty of denim, and lightweight outerwear that can be worn as is, or under heavier coats as the temperatures dip. You too are sure to be influenced by these 5 easy outfit formulas from some truly stylish, New York fashion girls.

  • Who Else Is on a “Sad Beige” Strike? These Colorful Outfits Are in My Rotation

Who Else Is on a “Sad Beige” Strike? These Colorful Outfits Are in My Rotation

    [ad_1]

“Sad beige” is the quietest and least exciting fashion revolution we’ve experienced to date. I have a theory that it not only affects aesthetics but also the way we feel as a society. I totally get the allure, however, since it’s so easy to reliably create simple and chic looks when your closet is made of whites, tans, and neutrals that all go together so seamlessly. But where’s the inspiration?! The emotion, the gall, the passion, the attitude? Can you really access all the emotions when you’re in beige every day? I think not. This is why I’ve officially taken a stand against the sad beige revolution and am on strike by dressing colorfully as much as possible.

Some things I’ve learned so far: Stick to fairly simple silhouettes to not overwhelm the outfit with too many standout elements, try to think of yourself as a canvas and the clothing the paint (color theory is everything), and play with all color tones. Don’t let anyone tell you that you must wear bright colors or it doesn’t count. There are plenty of muted colors that work together beautifully.

Ready to get into these outfits? Keep scrolling for inspo. Together, we can make the world a brighter place.

I Never Wear Fussy Outfits, and These Simple Looks Are as Chic as It Gets

    [ad_1]

Want to master the minimalist look, but afraid your outfits will veer too boring? Join the club. Pulling off a simple, streamlined outfit that turns heads without the use of prints, layers, or personality-infused accessories is quite the challenge. It’s amazing how some style savants have the formula down to a science, never missing a beat and always managing to appear effortlessly cool, even in jeans and a T-shirt.

What it actually comes down to is familiarizing yourself with proportions and the silhouettes that look good on your own body. When you invest in these well-made basics and take care of them, they’ll maintain their quality and you’ll feel confident mixing and matching them with your other refined pieces. The combinations you create won’t necessarily make for the loudest outfit in the room, but they’ll be admired for their luxurious sense of ease.

A few examples for starters? Slip into your favorite wide-leg pantsuit, but leave your chest bare from any jewelry and complete the outfit with white leather sneakers. Or throw on an oversize white tee with a floor-length maxi skirt, teaming up these two everyday separates for a monochrome moment. Finish with plain patent oxfords and a shiny shoulder bag, and leave your other eccentricities at home. In these instances, you’ll gain style points for the level of chic you reach without taking any sort of maximalist approach.
