  • The Importance of Data in Outdoor Advertising | Entrepreneur

The Importance of Data in Outdoor Advertising | Entrepreneur

    [ad_1]

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

It’s no secret that big data has changed the world. Capturing and processing information at scale have impacted every sphere of our lives, including health, wealth, business and leisure activities. Advertising is no exception, and marketers continue to discover how data empowers them to rethink promotional strategies. The enormous outdoor advertising market, which is projected to be worth $34.4 billion by 2027, is a prime arena for companies to apply data to boost their marketing activities.

Discover how to optimize outdoor advertising and spur your company’s growth by harnessing and applying data in your marketing plans.

Related: It’s Time to Shift Your Advertising Budget to Outdoor Media. Here’s Why and How to Do It.

    Using data in outdoor advertising

All advertising strategies depend on specific criteria for success. To implement an out-of-home (OOH) campaign, marketers need in-depth knowledge of the target audience, recognition of the prospect’s media channel preferences and an understanding of consumer behavior concerning the product.

Big data provides valuable intelligence on these issues, including what advertising methods work and which don’t. Analyzing data and applying the insights enables your enterprise to maximize specific OOH media, such as billboard advertising, digital out-of-home (DOOH) and even wild posting tactics.

With the detailed analytics available and the right tools to use them, you can now optimize your outdoor campaigns beyond any previous capability.

Related: Outdoor Advertising Is Conquering. Why Aren’t You Using It?

Applying data analytics in outdoor advertising

Data analytics is the processing and examination of datasets and the drawing of conclusions about the information they contain. Business intelligence derived from analytics enables you to create OOH advertising strategies focused on the needs and preferences of the people passing through each touchpoint.

The types of outdoor advertising analytics you can generate include descriptive analytics and predictive analytics. The first interprets historical data to identify trends and patterns and determine what happened in the past, spot potential problems, or uncover opportunities for improvement. The second — predictive analytics — uses statistics and modeling techniques to project future outcomes and performance.

    Generating useful metrics and insights

The intelligence delivered by data analytics allows OOH marketers to segment their audiences effectively, determine media placements and audience movement patterns, and use performance metrics to optimize their outdoor advertising campaigns.

For example, location analytics add a layer of geographical information to datasets to generate more valuable insights. These might include audience saturation, the population’s purchasing power and brand affinities, and the product categories that usually do well in each location.

Mobility analytics provide information about foot traffic, peak hours in specific locations, and the hours of highest demand. When you know in detail which consumers will be exposed to your advertising, your company is in a much better position to maximize its return on investment.

    Determining data validity

It’s one thing to have access to a ton of data and quite another to know that it’s valid and you can rely on it to improve your campaigns. Bad data is a perennial problem, with Gartner estimating that poor-quality information costs organizations an average of $12.9 million annually.

If inaccurate or unreliable data make their way into a company’s outdoor advertising analytics, the resulting poor strategy choices could be devastating for both the marketing department and the company as a whole. To ensure decision-making accuracy, you need to ensure you’re using data that has been validated. Companies can use first-party data that belongs to them, combined with second- and third-party data purchased from reputable suppliers. Examples of this type of quality data include Geopath’s impression numbers and their Insights Suite for audience measurements.

Benefits of data analytics in outdoor advertising

Data analytics delivers multiple benefits for outdoor advertisers. The intelligence provides a 360-degree, unified view of the customer’s journey, including all their interactions with the company.

Purchase insights: Evaluating OOH impressions in tandem with your website activity, social media engagement and digital chat records offers insight into customer needs and wants and helps you clarify the consumer’s typical path to purchase.

Audience targeting: With analytics, you can see which customers contribute the highest percentage of your revenue. You can also identify customers with the highest lifetime value and those who consistently share positive information about the brand. This information enables you to define your “ideal customer” characteristics, which creates valuable insights for audience targeting based on these metrics.

Customer personalization: Consumers these days typically expect highly relevant offers and messaging across all their media channels, not just OOH. Analytics insights support more personalized outdoor advertising designed for each target segment. This tactic benefits the customer journey and increases your chances of making a sale.

Effective iteration: Analytics enables precise performance measurements across all your campaigns and marketing channels, including OOH. These insights allow you to identify real-time improvement opportunities and iterate your actions mid-campaign to achieve them.

Accurate forecasting: Performance projections are complex because they include multiple campaign variables, but analytics enable you to examine past performance and make more accurate future predictions. Scenario modeling helps identify likely outcomes of an OOH campaign depending on external factors. This allows you to accurately forecast lead volumes and conversion rates and take more effective actions.

Improved ROI: By analyzing the performance of each channel and platform, including OOH, social media, email, websites, smart TV and direct marketing, you can identify those performing best for any given market segment and customer journey point. Based on this data, you can reallocate your ad spend and improve your ROI.

Organizations that use data-driven insights to inform their outdoor advertising strategies typically experience a 10% to 30% improvement in overall marketing performance. Data takes the guesswork out of outdoor and billboard advertising. It helps you optimize your marketing budget, improve your customer experience, and understand which channels, touchpoints, and strategies work. And insights like that are invaluable when it comes to increasing ROI.

  • Mars Players™ Develops E-Core Equipment to Fulfill Outside-the-RV Needs

Mars Players™ Develops E-Core Equipment to Fulfill Outside-the-RV Needs

    [ad_1]

The outdoor equipment enterprise Mars Players™ has launched an electric outdoor gear named The One, and announced a worldwide collaboration with RV communities, campgrounds owners, and other brands associated with outdoor living.

According to their CEO, Leo Li, their goal is to assist customers in experiencing the great outdoors and appreciating nature by using their E-core equipment. The letter ‘E’ denotes electrify, eco-friendly, and elegant, which aligns with the company’s focus on sustainability and style.

Recreational Vehicles have grown in popularity as a mode of transportation for road trips and vacations. It is almost a mobile house with basic amenities that allow individuals to live off the grid, work remotely and enjoy the wildness anytime. However, RV living has the disadvantage of limited interior space. Whether one owns a large fifth wheel or a Class C camper van, downsizing is necessary when living in an RV.

The company believes using outdoor space provides more activities and enjoyment. An inclusive RV companion with modules for cooking, a far infrared heater, lighting, and more is perfect for RV living. The One launched in February 2023, is designed to meet various needs outside the RV.

#1 Gather a New Acquaintance for Supper
Cooking outside the RV and appreciating the wilder nature are two fascinating points. If someone happens to meet someone on the same wavelength or with similar sporting interests at the campsite, Mars Players™ The One is there for socializing and preparing fancy dinners next to the RV.

In seconds, The One transforms into a three-winged, compact cooking station. Three folding panels extend to produce a solid cooking and heating surface. It simplifies outdoor cooking by rapidly boiling freshly brewed coffee, as well as grilling beautiful sausages on the grilling module. With the condensing module, cheese and butter can stay chilled even in summer.

#2 Keep Toasty While Outside the RV.
When the far-infrared heating system in The One is turned on, it is possible to continue enjoying the outdoors even when the temperature drops below freezing. People can do all sorts of jobs from the picnic table next to the RV and keep warm.

Thanks to Red-X technology, the far-infrared heating radiator heats up right away and keeps heat from escaping into the air, so it uses less power and heats up with 98.4% ultra-high thermal efficiency.

#3 Light up the corner out of the RV.
With two LED lights embedded in The One, its adjustable wings allow people to illuminate the corners they want. Even if someone has to work on RV repairs and maintenance after dark, adjust the height of the gear, and lighten the area up. The One’s built-in ultrasonic insect repellent protects from bugs and annoying insects.

CEO of Mars Players™, Leo, said that the company is pursuing worldwide partnerships for collaborative camping or festival events, where resource-sharing, cooperation, and open communication generate synergistic benefits.

  • More Time Outdoors May Mean Less Need for Medications

More Time Outdoors May Mean Less Need for Medications

    [ad_1]

Feb. 6, 2023 – City dwellers who visited parks, community gardens, or other green spaces often were less likely to need medications for depression, high blood pressure, or asthma than those who did not, a new study from Finland shows.

The link between frequent green space visits and a lower use of these drugs did not depend on household income level or other social or economic factors, although obesity did seem to cancel the benefits of frequently being outdoors in nature.

The growing scientific evidence supporting the health benefits of exposure to nature is likely to make more high-quality green spaces available in urban environments, and promote the use of these spaces, says lead author, Anu W. Turunen, PhD, from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare in Kuopio, Finland.

The findings were published online Jan. 16 in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine

Researchers asked 7,321 randomly selected residents of three large urban centers in Finland – Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa – about how often they went to green spaces and blue spaces (bodies of water) within 1 kilometer of their home, and also if they could see green or blue spaces from any windows of their home.

Green areas were defined as forests, gardens, parks, castle parks, cemeteries, zoos, grasslands, moors, and wetlands. Blue areas were defined as seas, lakes, and rivers.

People surveyed were also asked if they were taking any drugs for anxiety, insomnia, depression, high blood pressure, and asthma.

Compared to the people who went to green spaces the least, those who visited the most often were about one-third less likely to need one of these medications.

Specifically, those who reported visiting a green space three to four times per week had 33% lower odds of using mental health meds, 36% lower odds of using blood pressure meds, and 26% lower odds of using asthma medications.

“These results are important because they add to the growing body of evidence showing that being close to nature is good for our patients’ health,” says Jochem Klompmaker, PhD, from Harvard Medical School in Boston, who was not involved with this research but has done work in this area.

“We should encourage our patients to take more walks, and if they live near a park, that could be a good place to start to be more physically active and reduce stress levels,” he says.

  • Community Gardening Could Boost Your Lifestyle and Your Health

Community Gardening Could Boost Your Lifestyle and Your Health

    [ad_1]

Feb. 3, 2023 — Despite the boom in wellness culture seen in recent years, Americans continue to struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the long term. We’ve had more options than ever before, but something still isn’t working.

According to the CDC, 6 in 10 Americans have diet-related chronic illnesses — heart disease, strokes, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes — most of which are preventable through eating well and getting regular exercise.

So it might be time to think creatively and get our hands dirty.

For years, leaders of the Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) took notice of how many health benefits were brought about by planting seeds and tending crops, but they had no real way of scientifically measuring it. From 2017 to 2019, environmental health expert Jill Litt, PhD, and her colleagues at the University of Colorado Boulder, studied 37 DUG-run community gardens in Colorado to see if gardening could reduce the common health risks associated with diet-related chronic illnesses.

The randomized, controlled trial — the gold standard for measuring how effective new interventions are — found that these beginner-level gardeners saw significant increases in their fiber intake and time spent doing moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Researchers also saw an overall decrease in anxiety among gardeners, especially in those who started the program with higher stress levels.

The garden, Litt says, is a solution that’s an intentional departure from medicine.

“It gets you away from the doctor wagging his or her finger at you and telling you that you need to lose weight and eat better because we know that doesn’t change behavior,” says Litt.

The garden also provides a social element that’s crucial for those who want to spend time with others while they work but aren’t into Soul Cycle or Barry’s Bootcamp.

Doug Wooley, 42, who has spina bifida, a spinal birth defect that can cause physical impairments, has been working in the garden for the past 10 years, with many spent at the Denver Urban Gardens.

Wooley uses walkers and other mobility devices. As a child, he hated going to physical therapy; staring at the same four walls and medical posters week after week with little social interaction wasn’t a particularly motivational environment, he says.

When I go out to the garden, I’m doing essentially all the things that I was doing in physical therapy, except it’s exciting and fun,” Wooley says.

And on top of the benefits to his mobility, he gets the added bonuses of watching his plants grow, connecting with the food he eats, and sharing that experience with a group of people doing the same thing.

Litt sees a bright future for gardening as a lifestyle intervention, but she hopes that the discussion can shift away from a focus on weight and obesity. For her, going to a doctor’s office, getting on a scale, and being told that you’re overweight doesn’t address any core issues.

“I would love for us to focus on the building blocks to having a healthy life and active lifestyle,” says Litt. “And if you have a bigger body type, that’s OK, but let’s figure out how to eat well, have some balance, and relieve stress, and maybe these things together become the cocktail we need.”

  • Outstandards Introduces World’s First Military-Grade Power Bank Housed in an AR-15 Magazine Body

Outstandards Introduces World’s First Military-Grade Power Bank Housed in an AR-15 Magazine Body

    [ad_1]

The EDC Mag AR is a 20k mAh power bank designed for external carry and made to withstand the most rugged environments on earth.

    Press Release

    Dec 5, 2022 08:00 EST

Outstandards announced today the launch of the world’s first military-grade power bank designed to the exact dimensions of an AR-15 rifle magazine. The Williamsburg, Virginia-based company introduced the Every-Day Carry Magazine (EDC MAG) with a unique twist; a power bank charger produced to AR-15 magazine specifications, a design that facilitates carrying externally on the body in existing magazine pouches in vests, belts, and pants.

The company designed the product for the most rugged environments, utilizing military-grade material for the outer shell that makes the device water-, dirt-, and crush-resistant. The EDC MAG has a large 20,000 mAh capacity with high-speed charging and the latest power bank charger technology.

Outstandards conceptualized the EDC MAG based on real-world “missions in challenging environments” by their personnel that required easy-to-carry, easily accessible portable power that could withstand the harshest environments. Outstandards will market the EDC MAG to outdoor enthusiasts in the hunting, camping, hiking, and outdoor adventure communities, where increasingly prolific USB-charged outdoor gadgetry, from heated hunting vests to GPS devices to radios and flashlights, is driving up demand for rugged, portable all-weather chargers.

“Our goal was to bring to market a product that met the increasing demand for electronics that the average consumer faces daily, while at the same time being rugged enough to withstand the toughest environments they could venture into. The EDC Mag AR achieves every aspect of that goal,” said Jared Boyd, COO at Outstandards, who is a recently retired U.S. Marine.

    Early Impact on Consumers

Many consumers have already found ways to incorporate the EDC Mag AR into their outdoor adventures during this hunting season leaving several positive reviews on their website (outstandards.myshopify.com). “This Outstandards powerbank is incredible!  It has more than enough juice to keep my heated vest and all my other electronics for those long days on the hunting stand…Being water-resistant and military-grade has sure helped as I have put this device through all the paces (being dropped, getting mud, blood, soda on it, etc.),” wrote one reviewer in Virginia. Another from Missouri wrote, “I wish I would have had this all hunting season, very glad to have it now. It sits well in my vest, exposed to all kinds of weather and elements and dirt, and just keeps going.”

    Product Availability

Outstandards is selling the EDC MAG directly off its website straight to consumers at www.Outstandards.com.

    About Outstandards

Outstandards conceptualizes and creates unique, innovative products like no others in the world.  Their products are mission-generated, designed and forged through practical experiences during service to the U.S. in some of the world’s most difficult and challenging environments.

Boasting an unprecedented dry weight of just 850 pounds, Jeep adventure-seekers can now tow a 1,200-pound payload up previously unfathomable terrain—all without compromising a Jeep brand vehicle’s signature stability and efficiency. The Jeep-branded Edition by ADDAX Overland Trailer’s high-strength, lightweight engineering makes it the perfect companion for technical rock climbers and beginner off-roaders alike. Thanks to the Jeep-branded Edition’s foldable tongue and compact 5-foot-by-6-foot dimensions, even those adventurers with limited garage space can always be ready to get off the grid.

The Jeep-branded Edition by ADDAX Overland Trailer’s independent torsion axle trailer suspension system provides an aggressive 17 inches of ground clearance for maximum maneuverability, control and comfort. The 3/16-inch military-grade steel chassis and 14-gauge steel body are seamlessly bent, instead of welded, to deliver industry-leading durability.

The Jeep-branded Edition by ADDAX Overland Trailer comes standard with:

    • robust 35 cubic feet of storage
    • four 8,000-pound stabilizing corner jacks
    • foldable tongue
    • articulating hitch
    • rear receiver hitch
    • heavy-duty, custom rack for endless mounting possibilities

The SEMA Global Media Awards (GMA) Program recognizes those companies that manufacture specialty equipment products and accessories that would have mass appeal to consumers in countries outside the United States. The products are voted on by a prestigious group of international journalists who serve as judges.

“Vehicle customization and personalization has been growing worldwide,” said Linda Spencer, SEMA director of international and government relations. “The GMA program taps top international media experts to weigh in on which new products are likely to succeed in their home markets. The global automotive specialty-equipment market is made up of enthusiasts who are passionate about the hobby. This passion can be found not only throughout the United States but also in countless spots around the globe including in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Melbourne, Australia; and Stockholm, Sweden.”

This year’s program included 11 judges from seven countries. Each judge carefully reviewed and evaluated nearly 2,000 product entries at the SEMA Show before selecting the products that they felt would resonate and appeal most to consumers in their home countries.

The Jeep Edition by ADDAX Overland Trailer was also selected as a “Featured Product” in SEMA’s highly-coveted New Product Showcase.

  • Family Investigated After Turning Waterfall Blue In Gender Reveal Stunt

Family Investigated After Turning Waterfall Blue In Gender Reveal Stunt

    [ad_1]

A family is being investigated after reportedly contaminating a Brazilian waterfall and river with blue dye in an outrageous gender reveal stunt.

Viral videos of the over-the-top stunt last Sunday in the state of Mato Grosso caught the attention of environmental officials, according to several media reports.

The stunt was a violation of Brazil’s federal environmental law, a spokesperson for Mato Grosso’s environment protection agency told The Washington Post.

An unidentified family member behind the stunt is being charged with harming the environment, and an ongoing investigation will determine penalties and fees, according to the agency.

Investigators will “determine if there was environmental damage, depending on the material released into the water,” Brazil’s environmental authority SEMA (Secretaria de Estado de Meio Ambiente do Mato Grosso) noted in a statement translated by Gizmodo.

As of Monday investigators found “no change in the water’s physical parameters, such as color and other, and no trace of local fish mortality,” according to SEMA.

Nevertheless, the agency said dumping a substance into the water “constitutes an infraction” under Brazilian law, and penalties can be as high as the equivalent of $9,300.

The 59-foot-tall waterfall is located in the town of Tangará da Serra, a popular area for eco-tourism. The waterfall spills into the Queima Pé river, which is an important fresh water source for the community, which has been struggling with severe drought.

Most people responding to the video on social media were outraged by the “gender reveal,” an event that is increasingly pitting couples against one another to present the most narcissistically outrageous, often reckless, extravaganzas.

Last year, a California couple was charged with manslaughter after the smoke bomb they used in a gender reveal party sparked a massive wildfire. A gender reveal stunt off the coast of Mexico last year also ended in tragedy when a plane announcing the baby’s sex crashed into the sea, killing two people who were on board.

“So many ways to do a gender-reveal party and they chose just the one that has an environmental impact,” Vanessa Costa, a Brazilian forestry engineer and content creator, wrote on Twitter.

She added in an Instagram post: “The act of dyeing the water is pollution. You are polluting those waters, and that’s an environmental impact,” she said.

Another wrote: “Who needs drinking water when you have ‘likes’?”

“What happened to cutting into a cake? Why does nature keep getting damaged because these people think they’re special?” one critic on social media responded to the waterfall stunt, reported The Independent.

“Over the past few years, we have been devoted to making a flashlight both compact and powerful, the TK20R V2.0 revolutionizes the idea of a compact, super-bright flashlight for outdoor activities,” said Fenix Product Manager, Vincent Tseng.

Campworks NS-1 Trailer is Fit for a Life of Sustainable Adventuring

    [ad_1]

Driven to innovate and built in the U.S., the Campworks NS-1 aims to change the world of camping by bringing environmental design and electric power to outdoor adventurers and digital nomads

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 26, 2022

Campworks is empowering the next generation of digital nomads through its fully electric NS-1 model adventure trailer. Entirely electric and solar-powered, the NS-1 features a hot shower, queen bed, ample cabinetry space, a powerful electric system that pairs with EVs, heat and ventilation, windows for views, and more, allowing the necessities of a comfortable life to be taken on the go while leaving behind the burdens of contemporary consumerism.

“We are here to bring the possibility of imagining a new future to people all over the world. We saw the pandemic hit us hard and throw our assumptions about life and society into question,” says founder Thomas Hoffmann. “The way we live now is not sustainable; the planet is suffering, species are dying, and us humans are burning out from grinding 24/7. Our vision is a nomadic future, full of adventure and connections to the outdoors.”

The NS-1 (stands for “Nomadic System”) is available to order and customize. The fully electric and solar-powered camper can be hitched up to a car and taken anywhere. With marine-grade electronics and a durable, axle-less design, the camper has a huge tolerance for off-roading and a capacity for top-storage, including mounting a tent.

“The reliable features of the NS-1 allow people to comfortably commit to a life on the move, allowing us to manifest our vision for a nomadic future. And, with a very low carbon footprint, it allows you to explore new places with ethical kindness.”

Campworks started as a DIY camper college project and eventually grew to be what it is today, an ambassador for an adventurous lifestyle and environmental stewardship. The brand partners with others in the space who are passionate about getting back to earth and breaking free from today’s social pressures. Working with camping gear company Front Runner, the Wunder Institute, and outdoor cooking tools brand Barebones, Campworks is creating a community of nomads, adventuring for a better future.

“We value the clean, simple aesthetic design that our team put together. Craftsmanship has always been one of our top priorities — nothing says more than the details. We don’t overlook anything; our interior cabinets are beautifully made; the internal space is lined with acoustic panels for better sleep, softer conversations, and more immersive music experiences; and our abundance of charging ports are ready for camera gear and computers.”

The trailers are available in grey, white, and black, with multiple options for feature upgrades and build-out packages for off-grid living. The efficient and compact design of the NS-1 keeps life simple and comfortable as they help launch customers into the grounded and healthy lifestyle of the future. Campworks pledges 1% of its sales to preserving and restoring our natural environment by donating to the Leave No Trace charity.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 18, 2021

Commemorating Black August, specifically August 21, which marks 50 years since the assassination of revolutionary leader George Jackson, the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) is hosting their third annual AFRIBEMBÉ FESTIVAL: Black Solidarity = Black Freedom. The free event will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Harlem Art Park located on E. 120th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues.

While the musical sounds of various African and African Diasporic cultures such as Haitian, American, Puerto Rican and Congolese draw festival goers into motion, the smell of comfort food from the SoulFull Food Plaza will entice them to enjoy the savory, sweet and spicy flavors of Diasporic dishes.

“AFRIBEMBÉ is more than just a day out for our families. It’s a celebration of the Black genius of emerging and renowned African descendant creatives with roots throughout all the Diaspora. It’s a day to honor our strides in self-determination and resistance against systemic racism around the world made by our ancestors and revolutionaries.
