The Trump Administration is making another run at ending the war in Ukraine, and a lasting peace with honor would be a laudable achievement. But for three years the only peace on offer has been Ukraine’s surrender, and the latest American offer—really, an ultimatum—is merely another dressed-up version.
The 28-point plan that was mooted in the press but became public on Thursday includes a reduction in Ukraine’s military and a cap on its manpower at 600,000, from about 900,000 now. It isn’t clear if foreign peace-keeping troops would be allowed on Ukraine’s soil or if it could maintain long-range weapons.
The deal hands Mr. Putin all of the Donbas in the east. He’d pocket the territory he’s already seized there—and get the rest that Ukraine still holds despite nearly four years of Russian assaults.
Ukraine would forfeit its right to join a defensive Western alliance in NATO. Oh—and the U.S. and Ukraine would recognize Russian control of Crimea, which Mr. Putin took by force in 2014. Mr. Putin has made these demands since 2022 after his failed storming of Kyiv.

So it’s good news that the Administration is showing that America won’t be bullied from defending its Pacific interests, with an arms sale to our friends in Taiwan.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a $330 million potential arms sale for the island democracy. Items include spare parts for fighter jets and transport aircraft, as well as U.S. technical and logistics support. But more important than the details is that this marks the Administration’s first sale to Taiwan in Mr. Trump’s second term. Rumors had spread this year that Mr. Trump was withholding arms for Taiwan as he wooed Mr. Xi on a trade deal.

Pennsylvania Player Wins $500K Cash 5 Jackpot

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that a player from Huntingdon County has won the $500,000 jackpot from its Lottery Cash 5 game. In addition to that, the lottery unveiled two winners of $250,000 prizes from Powerball.
Cash 5 Player Scoops Up $500K Prize
The Lottery Cash 5 jackpot went to a Huntingdon County player who purchased their Quick Cash ticket at Smokers Express, 12435 William Penn Highway, Mill Creek Boro. According to lottery officials, the ticket in question matched the numbers of all five balls, winning it the game’s top prize.
For context, the winning numbers for the November 17 drawing were 4, 21, 27, 29, and 42.
As of the time of this writing, the winner has yet to come forward to claim their prize. Like all main Cash 5 game prizes, the jackpot must be claimed within a year of the day of the drawing.
In the meantime, the shop that sold the ticket will receive a $500 bonus.
Two Powerball Players Won Six-Figure Sums
The lottery also announced two winners of $250,000 prizes. Both players were enjoying the Powerball game and succeeded in matching four of the five white numbers, as well as the red Powerball.
While this prize bracket usually awards prizes of $50,000, both players had the $1 Power Play feature active, netting them $250,000 each, instead.
According to lottery officials, one of the two winning tickets was sold at Kwik Fill, 21268 Blooming Valley, West Mead Township, Crawford County. The other was purchased by a customer of Wawa, 1195 Pottstown Pike, West Goshen Township, Chester County.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot is currently standing at $629 million with a cash value of $294.5 million. The next drawing is set to take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Mega Millions Jackpot Was Won
While the Powerball jackpot continues to grow, the $980 million Mega Millions jackpot was just won by a lucky player in Georgia. They were not the only lucky Georgian, though, as another player won $4 million from the subsequent drawing.
In other news, a family in New Jersey just proved that lightning can indeed strike twice after winning a $3 million jackpot from a scratch-off ticket only a few months after scratching a separate $1 million ticket.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Makes a Joke About Prediction Markets During Speech

A black suit event was recently held at the White House.
One of the attending guests was the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.
A prediction had been running on prediction markets platforms, where people were betting on whether the Crown would wear a black suit.
Those who put their money on yes could have multiplied their initial bet by almost 17 times, but with a catch – the prince would actually have to be clad in a black suit.
The Crown Prince didn’t attend the event in a black suit; therefore, those who voted on it have lost their money.
At the event, the Crown Prince gave a speech.
During his speech, he mentioned that he had learned of the prediction involving him:
“Before I came here, someone told me that there are betting sites where you can bet on me wearing a black suit, and if you bet on me, you could get almost 17x. Sorry, you lose the bet. Better luck next time!”
There were other predictions made about the event, which also involved the Crown Prince, but the fact that he is aware of these markets already points to these markets’ reach and cultural relevance.
The bets were on whether Trump and the prince would hug, how long the handshake between them would last, and the phrases Trump would reference. Not everyone is happy with those prediction markets, but they are here to stay, and consumers and sports betting operators are embracing them.
Predictions on Everything
Recently, prediction markets have started to become more mainstream and have been integrated into popular culture.
Prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket have been getting referenced more and more often.
The CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, as a joke, listed several words that had been bet on, which led to outrage by those who had bet against him using the specific turn of phrase.
In the meantime, prediction markets have been featured in popuplar culture. In their latest season of South Park, they released an episode in September where many parts of the plot revolved around the characters’ fascination with prediction apps.
Betting on the Future
Millions of transactions occur on these prediction markets.
There are constant releases of new prediction markets, which have saturated the internet and increased the competition for Polymarket and Kalshi, the two most popular ones.
The last recorded notional volume on Polymarket and Kalshi hit $2 billion, which surpassed their last peak in 2024. Similarly, in partnership with Crypto.com, the Trump Media & Technology Group has announced that it’ll be launching its own prediction market called Truth Predict.
