  • K.O. King! Anthony Joshua Breaks Jake Paul’s Jaw Down Like A Pound, Heavyweight’s Haymaker Pummels Paul Into Alabaster Abyss

    [ad_1]

If you’ve been waiting for Jake Paul to finally shut his mouth, it’s now wired shut after Anthony “AJ” Joshua dropped him like a bad habit with a “double broken jaw” for a knockout victory. Social media is in shambles over the infamous instigator’s winning streak finally coming to an end.

    Source: Leonardo Fernandez / Getty

The content creator-turned-sports spectacle could run around the ring at the Kaseya Center in Miami, but he couldn’t hide from the hands of the two-time heavyweight unified boxing champion. During the livestreamed Netflix match, Joshua politely let Jaw-jacking Jake run down the clock for the first four rounds, in an attempt to tire out the 6’6″ giant.

Instead of exhausting the British bruv, Paul hit the ground more than singles at a strip club with bizarre takedown attempts. He clearly didn’t want any real smoke, but ran out of gas after a few dozen laps around the ring. That might’ve worked with the retired stars he faced in the past, but AJ reminded the world he’s still very much in his prime.

Instead of throwing off AJ, who won 25 of his 28-4 record by knockout, these stunts only seemed to piss him off more. With a comeback after a 15-month hiatus, the Olympic gold medalist patiently took his time to wear down the social media sensation and drop him in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds. Some believed it took too long, but AJ didn’t disappoint in delivering a knuckle sandwich that put Paul on his knees and sent him to the hospital.

While the former Disney star tried to keep his eye on the prize, his jaw ended up in three pieces and almost in the next zip code.

Even though AJ enjoyed a decisive comeback victory over the loudmouth menace, he was a class act about his opponent in the post-fight interview. He couldn’t deny that it was his fight to lose, but still gave Paul respect for (partially) standing against him in the ring and continuing to get back up.

“Jake [did] well while it lasted… I wish that I could have knocked him out at the start, but as we saw tonight, Jake has spirit. He has some heart. He tried his best, and I take my hat off to him because number one, a lot of fighters haven’t got in the ring with me, and Jake did,” AJ said.

“And secondly, even when he got knocked down, he kept on trying to get up, and I take my hat off to him. So, America, I think you have someone who could potentially, if he still has the heart for it, come back again, dust the dirt off his shoulder, and come again, and maybe sell out this center sometime in 2026,” he continued.

As for the unbothered underdog, he still had plenty to say on social media. He took to X, formerly Twitter to confirm that his jaw is broken in two places and posted the X-ray evidence, as if the fight photos weren’t proof enough.

“Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days,” Paul wrote.

Welp, his face may not be intact, but at least his sense of humor still is. And part of Paul not hurting might be his pockets since he’s a cofounder of MVP, the promoter for the event.

Whether viewers love Jake Paul or love to hate him, this viral fight still makes him a winner of the night (outside the ring). His company, Most Valuable Promotions, “set a new record as the highest-grossing boxing gate in history of the Kaseya Center,” according to Variety. Money isn’t everything, but it should ease some of the pain when he’s sipping his NYE champagne toast through a straw.

And for those who accuse Paul of everything from disrespecting the sport of boxing and its greatest legends to rigging the fights in his undefeated record, this knockout is a priceless early Christmas gift.

What do you think of the Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul fight?

  • Twin, Where Have You Been? Tia Mowry Shuts Down Rift Rumors With Tamera Mowry-Housley, Reveals ‘A Pact’ For ‘Sister, Sister’ Solidarity

    [ad_1]

Tia Mowry set the record straight about a rumored beef with twin Tamera Mowry-Housley, and confirmed where the Sister, Sister stars stand today.

    Source: Gilbert Flores / Getty

The dynamic duo has captured our hearts and minds for more othan 20 years, so murmurs that they weren’t close anymore left fans concerned and disappointed. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tia put an end to the speculation once and for all. They may have grown up with separate lives that keep them busy, but Tia confirmed the sitcom stars still haven’t grown apart.

“Everybody thought that there was this huge rift or distance. And that was not the case! The world, they’re so used to seeing all of us together, but at the end of the day, we all grow up,” Tia revealed.

“We all have our own families. Yes, there’s distance, because we all are doing our own thing, but when something is important to you, or when it is a priority, you will make time for it,” she continued.

Like any relationship, it takes effort to maintain and the beloved Twitches actresses are both putting in the work.

“My sister and I, we’ve made a pact with each other that we’ll reach out once per week, and that’s on Sundays,” Tia said.

All the Mowry siblings, including younger brothers Tahj and Tavior, reunite at least once a year for the holidays, alternating between Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to PEOPLE.

Whew, that’s a relief after comments about their twinergy on Tia Mowry: My Next Act raised alarms among fans. As BOSSIP previously reported, during an emotional moment navigating a new coparenting arrangement with ex-husband Cory Hardrict, Tia tearfully wished that she and Tamera “were still close” and she “could pick up the phone and call her.”

However, this didn’t mean that they weren’t on speaking terms, like many assumed. Tia later clarified that she missed how accessible her sister used to be before their lives evolved with busy families and careers in different cities.

“She is a mother. Her children need her. She is also a wife. Her husband needs her. So she’s just not as accessible as the way it used to be. So I’m comparing it to what it used to be. But I literally just talked to her yesterday,” Tia clarified. “Everything is good.”

Welp, when you started out sharing the womb, the distance between Los Angeles and Napa Valley does seem like a huge separation. Even when life, conflicting schedules, and SoCal traffic kept them apart, Tia and Tamera always had each other’s backs.

  • The “Stop Starting Over Workout” [FREE DOWNLOAD] | Nerd Fitness

    [ad_1]

One of the most common things I hear from people is this:

“I’m tired of starting over with fitness.”

They feel like they’re stuck in a loop:

    1. Get motivated to make a change
    2. Go all-in with a new plan
    3. Life throws a curveball
    4. Fall off track and feel like they “failed”
    5. Eventually muster up the energy to try again

This cycle is exhausting. And while many people blame it on “laziness” or “discipline”, I haven’t found that to be true.

It’s usually about a lack of clarity and support.

So I built something to help break that loop.

I lovingly named it The “Stop Starting Over” Workout (I know, super creative. 😂)

It’s a short, full-body routine you can do 2-4 times per week, with built-in options for:

    • Days when you have plenty of time and energy
    • Days when things feel fine
    • Days when everything is on fire

    Same workout.

Different dials you can turn up or down.

You can grab the workout here:

Your mission (should you choose to accept it):

Try the workout sometime this week. 💪

Then, email back and tell me how it went. I read every response.

  • What the US can teach other countries about home-based child care

    [ad_1]

Each day, nearly 70 percent of the world’s children are cared for and educated by adults other than their parents in home-based settings, many of which are informal and run by women. (In the United States, it’s about 30 percent.) In many countries, these home-based settings receive little financial or training support from their governments.

This summer, I moderated a panel made up of global child care experts at the National Association for Family Child Care’s (NAFCC) global learning convening. The event marked the first time that the association brought together child care leaders from across the globe to share their expertise in how family child care works in their countries. About 1,000 people attended, including representatives from Bangladesh, Ecuador, South Africa and the United States, to discuss how early learning programs face similar challenges around the world, including low pay and a lack of respect. Attendees also discussed progress securing funding and more awareness and recognition for the sector.

The session I moderated, on home-based child care policy and advocacy, featured Grace Matlhape as one of the panelists. Matlhape is the chief executive director of SmartStart, a nonprofit that supports high-quality home-based early learning programs in South Africa.

The organization’s model, which trains community members to teach a play-based curriculum and run their own early learning programs, has been found to decrease achievement gaps between higher- and lower-income children.

In early 2025, after advocacy from Matlhape and other early childhood organizations, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced he would prioritize the early years in his education agenda, acknowledging the country is decades behind in the field. The government also dedicated $500 million to expand early childhood development programs to some of the country’s 1.3 million young children not already enrolled in early care. That number represents about 18 percent of the country’s 0-5 population.

I recently caught up with Matlhape to hear more about progress she is seeing in South Africa, stereotypes of home-based care and which countries she’s looking to for guidance as the sector continues to grow. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

What is the landscape of early childhood in South Africa?

Up to now, South Africa’s main approach is center-based child care. There’s still a gap in access, it’s not equitably accessible, but the main seen, acknowledged, recognized and regulated mode of child care is center-based care.

SmartStart is the first organization to look at home-based care as a model to build. Having said that, South Africa is very similar to the U.S. in that the early childhood care education is market-driven. The government does not run programs directly. From time to time, they may have a school here and a preschool there, but in the early years, government is not the main provider of programs. SmartStart is the first organization that decided to build [home-based care] into a national model that becomes acceptable even to policy makers.

Why are you focusing on home-based care?

It enables rapid setup, because it avoids all of the lead times in buildings and so on. It lowers the cost when you take away all of the infrastructure investments required. It’s community-based. People have very strong local relationships, for example, a shopkeeper down the road delivers bread every day. It builds on this very strong local culture of looking after children and just investing in their care and their stimulation.

We recruit our providers within close proximity to one another so that they can form into communities of practice to support one another. It’s a very powerful vehicle of building belonging and identity. It creates cultural acceptability very quickly.

Finally, we’ve seen fantastic child outcomes compared to the national average in South Africa. Many of [the programs] are in informal housing in very, very poor environments, but their child outcomes outperform the national average. We think it is a matter of good child ratios. You can’t have a massive class of children at a home. You have children in smaller groups, and we think that’s the answer.

    What challenges have you encountered?

It is really hard for people to let go of this overreliance on quality associated with physical structures. People expect to see quality with their eyes, whereas what we are seeing in home-based child care is the experience and the love and attention, and the power of practicing good pedagogy between one loving practitioner and a handful of children. That’s the secret sauce. And so it’s been a challenge just to change mindsets, for people to see child care, home-based child care, in that way.

This summer you came to Dallas and met with other home-based child care experts from around the world. Did anything stick out to you regarding how South Africa’s home-based landscape compares to other countries?

What was very different in the U.S. is just how mature the sector is. It’s significantly more mature. It has matured to a practitioner-led advocacy level, with a platform like NAFCC and people who are leading the organization! [In South Africa], it is very strongly practitioner led. We are still on that journey of the practitioner representing themselves and driving advocacy in their own provinces or states. It gave me a sense of what the future might look like, the power in the practitioner-led alliance or coalition.

What are your goals moving forward?

We’ve actually moved into the zone now of regulation and funding by the government. We co-founded an advocacy organization about three to four years ago with other early childhood development organizations in South Africa. We’ve invested in policy research on what’s going on around the world [in early childhood]. My colleagues really invested in understanding what home-based child care looks like, particularly in Latin America — we drew a lot from that. And we are partnering with the government, with the Department of Education. As insights emerge, we partner with them to say, ‘This is what the research says. These are the trends.’ We are very effectively influencing policy in South Africa by getting the president to announce early childhood as one of the apex priorities for our government. We are trying to make early childhood development in general, and promoting home-based child care as a first tier approach, a societal priority.

This story about home-based child care was produced by The Hechinger Report, a nonprofit, independent news organization focused on inequality and innovation in education. Sign up for the Hechinger newsletter.

Since you made it to the bottom of this article, we have a small favor to ask.

  • MAGA Barbie: Nicki Minaj Doubles Down On Dissing Gavin Newsom Over His Support Of Transgender Youth

    [ad_1]

Nicki Minaj‘s MAGA mission went from alignment with the Trump administration’s messaging to waging a war online with California Governor Gavin Newsom over his support of transgender youth: “Not even a trans adult would run on that,” she snapped.

    Source: MEGA/ David Dee Delgado

The digital sparring between Nicki Minaj and Gavin Newsom began in earnest when the rapper latched onto a recent comment by the governor. Newsom, while discussing his long record of pro-trans legislation and advocacy, made a remark about wanting “to see trans kids,” which he framed as an expression of support for the LGBTQ+ community.

However, Minaj seized on the wording to launch a public attack. Responding on social media, Minaj wrote: “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids… GavOUT.”

Nicki Minaj and Gavin Newsom: MAGA Messaging and Online Attacks

Minaj’s attack on Newsom’s stance on trans youth is part of a larger, noticeable pivot toward the MAGA movement. According to BLAST, earlier in the year, the rapper drew intense criticism after she appeared to implicitly endorse the Trump administration’s agenda by reposting an official White House TikTok video set to her 2012 hit “Va Va Voom.” The video, promoting Trump’s priorities, included anti-trans and anti-immigrant messaging, such as: “No men in women’s sports,” and “Criminal illegals are being deported.”

The alignment deepened after Minaj spoke at the United Nations in November 2025. As previously reported, she discussed what she characterized as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and publicly thanked Donald Trump for his leadership on the issue. She later tweeted: “United Nations was a MAGA Flex. Trump on da text. Yall should be afraid of what I’m gon do next,” seemingly declaring her political allegiance.

The feud between Nicki Minaj and Gavin Newsom escalated further when Newsom posted an Instagram reel highlighting the friendship between Donald Trump and deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein, using Megan Thee Stallion’s track “Hiss,” as the soundtrack—a song that famously contains a diss toward Minaj. The Queen then questioned Newsom on X, referring to him as “scum” and making jabs about his “lace front” and “salt and pepper” hair.

Minaj’s move to amplify anti-immigrant rhetoric has been particularly criticized as hypocritical, given her own history. Critics were quick to point out that the rapper was brought to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago illegally when she was just five years old, a fact she has publicly acknowledged.

Despite Newsom’s long legislative record as a prominent LGBTQ+ ally, including signing bills to strengthen protections for transgender Californians, Minaj is relentlessly challenging his credibility. She continued her mockery of Newsom by saying, “I think Gavvy’s still transitioning” and “He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible.” The ongoing, chaotic social media feud solidifies the rapper’s position in the political spotlight, a position she is using to target one of the Democratic Party’s most visible figures.

  • ‘Truth Living’ Porsha Williams Opens Up About ‘Comfortable’ Courtship With Her Loving Lady, Patrice ‘Sway’ McKinney

    [ad_1]

    Source: Kristina Bumphrey / Getty

Porsha from Real Housewives of Atlanta is fully “living in her truth” as she embraces her blossoming romance with master barber Patrice “Sway” McKinney — and she’s not holding back on sharing her happiness.

In an exclusive Dec. 11 interview with PEOPLE, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star opened up about why she decided to make her relationship with Sway Instagram-official in November.

The mother of one, who finalized her divorce from Simon Guobadia in June, explained that she “just wanted to continue to live in my truth.”

Porsha added that, despite spending more than a decade in the reality-TV spotlight, sharing this particular relationship felt new and significant.

“I’ve been in reality TV for 10-plus years, okay. But yes, this was definitely different for obvious reasons,” she said from the red carpet at A Year in Time in New York City, noting that this is her first public relationship with a woman.

On Friday, Nov. 28, the 44-year-old RHOA star posted a heartfelt birthday message to McKinney — founder of Encore Salon Suites in Atlanta — writing, “The Happiest Birthday @sway_thepro.”

“Hope this year continues to bring you everything you want and more! 🥂🍾,” she continued. “Can’t wait to act up Saturday!”

The Instagram carousel included two photos of Williams and McKinney embracing in front of a sparkling Christmas tree display, along with several videos,  including a clip of the pair dancing together in a club, and another of Sway planting a kiss on Porsha’s cheek.

Porsha Williams says she’s loving her new relationship with Patrice “Sway” McKinney.

Reflecting on her decision to go public, Porsha told PEOPLE that she “didn’t want to hide” any part of her life.

“I felt if I did hide it and it had to be caught somewhere, it just wouldn’t feel authentic,” she shared. “I want to live in my truth, and so in doing that, I have found someone who I really enjoy getting to know, and it’s been great.”

When discussing what drew her to Sway, Porsha explained:

“I think the best thing is when you find someone that you can see yourself in, and you guys match, and everything is comfortable, it’s warm.”

She added, “You definitely want to be with someone warm who you can enjoy — and family. So I’m very blessed.”

    How did we get here?

Hints of Porsha’s relationship with Sway surfaced back in October during a panel at CultureCon NYC, where she revealed she was dating both a man and a woman. While little is known about the man, fans were already speculating about her connection with Sway.

At the time, Porsha shared that both relationships were off to promising starts.

“He is nice, and she is nice,” she said with a laugh during the panel, before opening up about her emotional journey.

“But I really just wanted to make sure these were normal people. And what I talked about with my therapist the other day was, I’m having a hard time opening up because they’re not narcissists. And guess what narcissists do? They love bomb you. They do everything. They’re perfect. They mirror you.”

She also revealed that neither of her new partners depends on over-the-top gestures to impress her; instead, they are secure enough to “challenge” and “question” her — something she finds refreshing.

“They’re not letting me walk over them,” Porsha said. “They aren’t just doing whatever they need to do to get into the relationship. And so I’m not feeling safe enough to open up yet.”

As for Sway, Patrice McKinney is the founder of Encore Salon Suites — the first Black-owned salon suite franchise — and a seasoned master barber and stylist with more than 10 years of experience.

What do you think about Porsha Williams’ budding romance with Sway? Thoughts?

  • Nicki Minaj Fully Leans Into MAGA Mischief As Barbz Become Belligerent Over Onika’s Budding Bond With JD Vance

    [ad_1]

    • Nicki Minaj praises Trump and Vance, while Cardi B criticizes them.
    • Minaj thanks Trump for addressing persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
    • Minaj declares herself part of Trump’s MAGA supporters.

Nicki Minaj’s X account has turned into a White House fan account.

    Source: MEGA /Tasos Katopodis

While Nicki hasn’t explicitly stated that she’s team Donald Trump, she has become increasingly open about her support for him and his Vice President, JD Vance.

In a since-deleted tweet, the rapper posted a GIF of Chucky from the Child’s Play series alongside the caption, “Vance > Rants.” Fans aren’t exactly sure what the tweet was referring to, or why it was deleted, but before it was deleted, Vance reposted it with some commentary of his own.

“Nicki > Cardi,” Vance wrote, referencing the ongoing beef between the rappers.

While Minaj has warmed up to the administration in recent weeks, Cardi B has been vocal about her dislike of Trump for a long time now. Nicki even spoke in front of members of the United Nations to discuss the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, thanking Trump in her speech.

“I would like to thank President Donald Trump for prioritizing this issue, and for his leadership on the global stage, and calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria to combat extremism, and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of belief,” she said at the time. “We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order to respect each other. We’re way beyond thinking or expecting or assuming the next person sitting next to you will have the same beliefs. We’re beyond that. That’s ridiculous.”

After Minaj’s speech, she seemingly declared herself as a part of Trump’s MAGA supporters, tweeting: “United Nations was a MAGA Flex. Trump on da text. Yall should be afraid of what I’m gon do next,” she wrote, in a post that also took thinly-veiled shots at Jay-Z.

Since then, it’s been a full-on love fest between Minaj and the administration, with Nicki reposting several tweets about Trump– including one that alleged his wife, Melania, underwent a kidney surgery in 2018. The post claimed that the president postponed meetings to be with his wife, and sent her a “beautiful” letter.

In other tweets, Nicki shared a video of Trump and Elon Musk dancing happily, over which she wrote, “Mood.”

She also tweeted about Vance being “smarter than a computer.”

“Nothing brings me joy like the Vance memes & knowing he leaned into it like a boss,” Nicki began in a tweet praising the VP. “Top Tier Comedy Character = 100 But make no mistake, Vance is an assassin. Don’t debate him. On anything. Quick as a computer. Maybe quicker. He’s the best blend I’ve ever seen of us&them.”

  • “I feel like I’m failing at something that should be easy.” | Nerd Fitness

    [ad_1]

I want to tell you about something a client said to me recently, because I think a lot of people quietly feel this way:

“I’ve struggled to lose weight my entire adult life. I feel like I’m failing at something that should be easy.”

If you’ve struggled to get in shape before, you might know that same feeling.

It can sneak in and make the whole thing feel personal.

Like you’re the problem. Like “if I just had more willpower”, things would be better.

    But here’s the thing:

You’re not failing at something that should be easy.

You’re striving to do something that’s hard for basically everyone.

And that distinction makes a world of difference.

    The Mismatch

When you zoom out and look at the actual evidence, getting in shape is not simple.

    Not losing weight.

    Not building muscle.

    Not sticking to habits.

Why? Because we’re doing all of it inside a system that stacks the deck:

And that’s just our external environment.

When we look under the hood, each person has different levels of food noise, enjoyment from exercise, injury history, etc.

We aren’t all playing on a level playing field – and that playing field was already challenging to begin with!

I’m not saying any of this to make you feel hopeless.

    Quite the contrary:

It’s only by acknowledging the very real constraints that we can make a plan for how to get unstuck.

Here’s a simple 2-step approach you can use to do just that.

    Step 1: Collect Evidence

An important part of rewriting the narrative is collecting evidence to the contrary.

That you are the type of person who shows up.

Take a few moments each day to highlight whenever you take an action that’s aligned with your goals.

✅ When you do a short workout instead of no workout on a crazy day

✅ When you build a balanced plate at dinner time

✅ When you add a few more reps to your workout

Jot it down in a notebook. Text a friend. Drop a marble in your jar of awesome.

This is one of the most critical aspects of our coaching program.

People need to see signs of progress. They need reinforcement that what they are doing is working.

That starts by highlighting the actions you take that move you towards your goals.

From there, we can narrow in on the target.

    Step 2: Shrink the Target

When you’re feeling stuck and like nothing is working, it’s natural to want to try to change all the things, all at once!

I encourage you to resist that urge.

    Instead, get more laser-focused.

In my 15 years of coaching, the most progress comes from reducing the number of things someone has to worry about. Not adding more to their to-do list.

    Because focus creates consistency.

If you know what the number one goal for the day is, you’re way more likely to tackle it than if you have a laundry list of 10 things that all feel important, all the time.

If they are all the most important, then none of them are important.

Narrowing your focus not only improves consistency and reduces overwhelm, it helps you learn what actually moves the needle for you.

You don’t have to guess if something is working or not – you’ve consistently done it and you can see the results for yourself!

So here’s the thought I want you to practice:

    Instead of:

“I’m failing at something that should be easy.”

    Try:

“I’m striving to do something that’s hard for almost everyone – and I’m still showing up.”

    That reframe isn’t fluffy.

    It’s practical.

It pulls you out of shame and into problem-solving. It lets you notice the progress you are making. And it clears space to decide what your next step actually is.

    And that’s the whole game:

    Show up.

    Collect evidence.

    Narrow the focus.

    Repeat.

You do that long enough, and the identity you’re building becomes the thing that carries you forward.

If you want help figuring out your “one thing” for this week, reply to this email. I’m here.

  • Immigration enforcement is driving away early childhood educators

    [ad_1]

Close to 40,000 foreign-born child care workers have been driven out of the profession in the wake of the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation and detainment efforts, according to a new study by the Better Life Lab at the think tank New America. That represents about 12 percent of the foreign-born child care workforce.

Child care workers with at least a two-year college degree are most likely to be leaving the workforce, as well as workers who are from Mexico, a demographic targeted by ICE, or those who work in center-based care, the left-leaning think tank found. The disruption has worsened an already deep shortage of child care staffers, threatening the stability of the industry and in turn is contributing to tens of thousands of U.S.-born mothers dropping out of the labor market because they don’t have reliable child care.

In addition to workers facing detainment or deportation, many people are staying home to avoid situations where they may encounter Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the report found. Agents are detaining people who have not traditionally been the focus of ICE actions, including those following legal pathways like asylum seekers and green card applicants. Child care centers were once considered “sensitive locations” exempt from ICE enforcement, but the White House rescinded that in January. In at least one example, a child care worker was detained while arriving for work at a child care program.

“What’s different now is the ferocity of the enforcement,” said Chris Herbst, a professor at Arizona State University’s School of Public Affairs and one of the authors of the report, in an interview with The Hechinger Report. “ICE is arresting far more people, the number of deportations has risen dramatically,” he added. “People are scared out of their minds.”

Related: Young children have unique needs and providing the right care can be a challenge. Our free early childhood education newsletter tracks the issues.

America has long relied on immigrants to fill hard-to-staff caregiving positions and enable parents to work. Across the country, around 1 in 5 child care workers is an immigrant. In Florida and New York, immigrants account for nearly 40 percent of the child care workforce. One study that compared native-born and immigrant child care workers found that nearly 64 percent of immigrants had a two- or four-year college degree, compared to 53 percent of native-born workers. The study also noted that immigrant workers are more likely than native-born workers to have child development associate credentials and to invest in professional development activities.

Overall, the child care industry supports more than $152 billion in economic activity.

In Wisconsin, Elaine, the director of a child care center, said her program has benefited greatly from a Ukrainian immigrant who has been teaching there for two years, ever since arriving in the United States as part of a humanitarian parole program. (The Hechinger Report is not using Elaine’s last name or the city where her child care center is located because she fears action by immigration enforcement.) Elaine’s center has experienced a teacher shortage for the past 13 years, and the immigrant, who has a college degree and past experience in social services, has been a steady presence for the children there.

“She’s their consistent person. She spends more time than a lot of the parents do with the children during their waking hours,” Elaine said. “She’s there for them, she’s loving, she provides that support, that connection, that security that young children need.”

In January, the Trump administration suspended the Uniting for Ukraine program, which allowed Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion to live and work in the United States for two years. While the program later opened up a process to apply for an extension, Elaine’s employee has encountered delays, like many others.

The teacher’s parole expired this month. Under the law, she is now supposed to return to Ukraine, where her home city in southeast Ukraine is still under attack by Russian forces.

Elaine fears what will happen if the center loses her. “As a business, we need her. We need a teacher we can count on,” Elaine said. “For our teachers’ mental health, to have her leave and knowing where she would go would be really difficult.”

Elaine has decided to allow the employee to keep working, and is appealing to state lawmakers to help extend her stay. Several parents have also joined in the effort, writing letters to Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin telling her how much their children love the teacher — and how important she is to the local economy. One factor in granting an extension is that the person offers a “significant public benefit” to the country.

The authors of the new report found immigrants are not the only caregivers affected by ICE enforcement this year. There has also been a drop in U.S.-born child care workers in the industry, especially among Hispanic and less-educated caregivers. This could be the result of a “climate of fear and confusion” surrounding enforcement activity, according to the report, as well as a “perceived pattern of profiling or discriminatory enforcement practices.”

“These deportations have been sold under the theory that they are going to be a boon for U.S.-born workers once we sort of unclog the labor market by removing large numbers of undocumented immigrants,” Herbst said. “We’re finding at least in the child care industry, and at least in the short run, that appears not to be the case.” Some foreign-born and U.S.-born workers have different skills and do not seem to be competing for the same caregiving jobs, he added.

Not all workers are leaving the caregiving industry altogether. Some immigrants are shifting to work as nannies or au pairs, Herbst said, “finding refuge” in private homes where they are less likely to come into contact with state child care regulators or be part of formal wage systems. (Already, an estimated 142,000 undocumented immigrants work as nannies and personal care or home health aides nationwide.) That contact with regulators and other authorities may be a reason why center-based early childhood educators are leaving the field in greater proportions now, Herbst said.

These findings come at the end of a difficult year for the child care workforce, which has long been in crisis due to dismally low pay and challenging work conditions. More than half of child care providers surveyed this year by the RAPID Survey Project at Stanford University reported experiencing difficulty affording food, the highest rate since the survey started collecting data on provider hunger in 2021. Other recent reports have found child care providers are at a higher risk for clinical depression, and in some cities an increasing number are taking on part-time jobs to make ends meet.

Across the country this year, early childhood providers have seen drops in enrollment as families pull their children out of schools and programs to avoid ICE. Child care centers are losing money and finding that some staff members are too scared to come to work or have lost work authorization after the administration ended certain refugee programs. Many child care workers have taken on additional roles driving children to and from care, collecting emergency numbers and plans for children in their care in case parents are detained and dropping off food for families too scared to leave their homes.

  • Short on time? Here’s how to modify your workout. | Nerd Fitness

    [ad_1]

We’re officially in that stretch of the year where it feels like someone hit the chaos button: work deadlines, school events, holiday travel…all happening at once.

And in the middle of that, trying to follow a “normal” workout routine can feel impossible.

    Luckily, you don’t need to!

Here are three strategies we use with busy coaching clients to get great results without workouts having to take over their lives.

Pick one and plug it in whenever your schedule tightens up. 💪

Strategy 1: Focus on the “Big Rocks”

Pick exercises that give you the biggest return:

    • One lower body exercise (squats, deadlifts, lunges)
    • One upper body “pushing” exercise (push-ups, bench press, overhead press)
    • One upper body “pulling” exercise (rows, pulldowns, assisted chin-ups)

This little “push-pull-legs” triangle works with dumbbells, machines, bodyweight, whatever you’ve got.

Take our Beginner Bodyweight Workout, for example.

You can delete the lunges, planks, and jumping jacks and focus on the squats, push-ups and rows and boom! You’ve cut your workout time in half and still get a great workout in.

Three movements. Full body. Massive bang-for-your-buck.

Strategy 2: Fewer Rounds, Higher Effort

I hear a lot of people say, “If I don’t do the full workout, it doesn’t really count.”

    Not true.

Even one solid round still gives your muscles enough stimulus to maintain strength – and often to build it.

Here’s an approach we use all the time with busy clients.

    Matching Sets

    1. Pick a challenging weight or version of the exercise.
    2. After a warm up, do as many good reps as you can with solid form.
    3. Rest briefly.
    4. Do one more set and try to match that number – even if you need a few mini-breaks to get there.

Two high-effort sets and you’re done in minutes.

Strategy 3: The 10-minute Time Box

Sometimes life is so slammed you feel like you barely have 5 or 10 minutes to squeeze a workout in.

So let’s build a workout that you know will take EXACTLY that long!

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Set a timer for your allotted time box. (5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.)
    2. Choose 2-4 exercises.
    3. Cycle through them one after the other, resting as needed.
    4. Get as many total reps as you can before the timer hits zero.

If you get one round: great.

If you get four rounds, also great.

You worked hard inside the window you had, which is what counts.

    One Last Thing

Even if none of these strategies happen and the day is a complete whirlwind…a two-minute walk, a quick stretch, or a single set of squats still matters.

It keeps the “workout space” open in your life.

It reinforces your identity as someone who moves.

And it makes sliding back into a routine in January so much easier.

You don’t need a perfect plan.

You just need a plan that works today, with the time and energy you actually have. ❤️

  • Thee Hot Girl Chef: Megan Thee Stallion Cooks Thanksgiving Dinner For Klay Thompson’s Family, His Father Sings Her Praises

    [ad_1]

    Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty

Megan Thee Stallion was busy this Thanksgiving as she stepped into the kitchen to make a feast for her man, Klay, and the Thompson family.

Thee Hot Girl Chef jumped in the kitchen and threw down, making all of the must-have Turkey Day staples in portions large enough to feed Klay’s family full of professional athletes. Taking on such a major holiday had our girl admittedly stressed as she wanted to impress the Thompsons.

“I was really nervous because I was like ‘dang I’m really finna cook for my man and his whole family and I hope they like it because I really gotta show them that I really love they son,” she said in her reel.

Though Meg had already told her fans that Klay’s dad and Lakers legend, Mychal Thompson, loved her cooking so much that he felt she could own a restaurant, he took it a step further by singing her praises during the local Los Angeles broadcast of the Lakers and Mavericks game.

While Meg and Klay‘s mom, Julie, sat courtside to take in the game, Mr. Thompson was busy talking about Thee Hot Girl’s culinary skills.

“Thanksgiving dinner was the best Thanksgiving food I’ve ever eaten,” Mychal said during the live broadcast. “Megan Thee Stallion should be Megan Thee Chef. It was unbelievable. She went out of her way to make sure everyone was fed. We had to take so many bags home there was so much food. It was one of the best Thanksgivings we ever had, thanks to Megan.”

The NBA champion is a man of few words but he’s been vocal about his adoration for his son’s superstar girlfriend. Soon after Klay and Meg went public, Mr. Thompson chatted about her during a broadcast, playfully saying that he referred to her as “Megan Thee Filly” due to that being the proper term for a young female horse. He clearly is not above a good dad joke.

Meg is clearly in good with the Thompsons as she also made sure to let everyone know that the biggest stamp of approval came from Klay’s mom, who she affectionately calls “Miss Julie.”

“Miss Julie was the star of the show,” Meg said during a courtside interview. “Miss Julie is the hostess with the mostest. Mr. Thompson definitely said that I can own my own restaurant, I’m glad that I got the stamp of approval from the father but the mother! Miss Julie was my number one stamp of approval.”

The Thompsons have been a relatively low-key family over the years but since Meg’s arrival they’ve all seemed to come out of their shell a bit, especially Klay. Meg and “Miss Julie” have been kiki-ing at Mavericks games since the start of the season and we all remember the Wag Wig fiasco that had the internet talking for days.

The internet is already speculating that the Thompsons are making room for Meg in their family and since she posted a photo of what many suspected was a home she shares with Klay, we’ll be checking our mailboxes for the wedding invite. Save the date? Say less!

  • 5 cheat sheets for parents of preschoolers

    [ad_1]

When my oldest child was a 2-year-old, we relocated to a new state and I found myself back at square one with my search for child care. In my new city, I now had a very good problem: There was an abundance of programs with availability, and I had a choice of where to enroll my son. As I toured a half-dozen of them, however, I worried that even as an early childhood reporter, I wasn’t asking the right questions or paying attention to the right thing.

A few months later, our early childhood team at Hechinger launched a project digging into the elements of a high-quality preschool. That article and the corresponding video became a quick and easy guide as I looked at options for my second child. It’s what I sent to friends who asked me for advice while navigating their own searches.

While I love telling stories from the field, my colleagues and I are also passionate about providing helpful tools and guides for teachers and caregivers. Here are a few of my favorite early ed “cheat sheets” from our decade of reporting on early childhood.

    1.  The five elements of a good preschool: What should you look for when you step inside a preschool classroom? What clues can you find on the walls or bookshelves? What questions should you ask teachers and school administrators? This video and article break it down. While classrooms and programs will vary by setting, many of these elements, like the way teachers talk to children and an emphasis on play, apply everywhere.

    2. Cracking down on unsafe sleep products: As an anxious new parent, nothing scared me more than hearing about infant deaths due to unsafe sleep products. Still, when desperate and exhausted, I tried several items that I heard would help my babies sleep, including some that the American Academy of Pediatrics later discouraged in updated safe sleep guidelines in 2022. While reporting this article, I was stunned by the lack of evidence and oversight of products that many parents like myself believe are tested before they are available to buy.

    3. How to boost math skills by talking about math with your kids: Most parents know how important it is to read to children. But did you know that there are easy ways caregivers can develop math skills? Earlier this year, my colleague Jill Barshay looked at a wave of research from the past dozen years on simple things adults can do to lay an early foundation in math.

    4. How to answer tough questions about race and racism with your children: Research shows racial stereotypes start early, and that’s why it’s important to talk to young children about different races and read books and offer toys that have diverse characters. Many parents feel ill equipped for these conversations, however. In 2020, I asked three experts how they would respond to real questions from young kids about race and racism so adults feel better prepared for the questions that children inevitably ask.

    5. How parents can support their kids with play: With all the challenges of being a parent, it can be hard to hear there’s yet another thing we should be doing. But this 2023 conversation with researcher Charlotte Anne Wright helped me reframe the way I think about play and my role in it with my own children. While it’s important to give children opportunities for free play, Wright’s research shows “guided play,” or play with a learning goal in mind and light support from a parent, can have benefits for children, too. It’s not as heavy of a lift as it sounds, and Wright provides simple ways parents can engage in playful learning with their children on bus rides and trips to the laundromat.

  • 9 simple strategies for holiday eating (without all the stress) | Nerd Fitness

    [ad_1]

It’s Thanksgiving week here in the States, so I want to talk about something that trips people up every single year:

How do you navigate a holiday week without feeling stressed, restricted, or like you “messed up” your progress?

    First thing’s first:

There is no one “right” answer that works for everyone, all the time, forever.

Instead, our goal is to practice making proactive choices that feel good to YOU.

    Let’s break it down.

Option 1: “I want to stay on my current plan.”

Some people are on a roll going into a holiday week. They’ve found momentum. They feel great. And sticking to the plan – even if it will be more challenging – feels worth it.

    This often looks like:

    • Making deliberate choices around alcohol, desserts, portion sizes, etc.
    • Planning ahead so you have options available that fit your plan. (like bringing extra veggies or sparkling water to drink)
    • Being ready to set boundaries with loved ones

    And if that’s you: great!

You don’t have to apologize for wanting to keep a good thing going.

Option 2: “I’m taking this week off from thinking about food and workouts.”

For others, taking a break on a holiday week is a better decision.

They know that things are already going to be hectic, and the added stress of trying to adhere to their routine isn’t worth the tradeoff.

Sure, progress may slow for a few days, but it’s OK to not always optimize for “fitness”.

Instead, we put a plan in place so they can get right back into their routine after the holiday break. 😃

Option 3: “I want a flexible middle ground.”

In my experience, this is the sweet spot for most people.

Sticking to a few strategies that feel good without being overly restrictive helps you maintain momentum through the holiday week.

Here are some of the ones we’ve found to be most successful. Think of this like a “Choose your own adventure” menu.

    Strategy: Protein and veggies first

As much as possible, focus on getting a serving of lean protein and a fruit or veggie on your plate with each meal (in addition to anything else you’d like to eat!) Eating protein and fiber will help you feel fuller and make sure you are prioritizing some awesome nutrient-dense foods.

    Strategy: Increase your water intake

Keep a water bottle, sparkling water, or other low-calorie beverage on hand. If you are drinking alcohol, try to alternate with a glass of water. This can help you find a better balance throughout the night.

Strategy: Scout out options ahead of time

It’s easier to make a choice ahead of time than in the spur of the moment. Scan the menu (if you’re at a restaurant) for some buzz words, and see what you can find that still sounds delicious!

Strategy: Put it on a plate

When possible, put food on a plate first before eating it. Using smaller plates at a buffet can naturally help you regulate portion sizes while also registering how full you actually feel.

    Strategy: To-go box

Ask for a to-go box right at the start of your meal (or bring a container if you’re visiting friends or family.) This takes pressure off of picking at the food more if you really don’t want it. You have it, and you can easily put some away from later to enjoy.

    Strategy: Treat Yo’self

Striking a balance between treating yourself on a special occasion and going off the rails can be tricky. One way I like to think about treating myself is not only enjoying the food and the company, but also feeling good when I wake up the next day (physically.)

    Strategy: Balance across the day

Consider having a lighter meal to balance out a dense meal. If you know you’ll be having a bigger-than-normal meal at some point in the day, try prioritizing protein, fruits, and veggies in your other meals.

Big meals tend to have rich foods with plenty of delicious carbs and fats, so you don’t have to worry about getting enough of those in and can still balance your day on the whole.

    Strategy: Fork down between bites

Putting your fork down between bites gives you a moment to enjoy your food, not speed through a meal, and to be more aware of your appetite. Easy money!

    Strategy: Snack pack

If traveling, consider packing some easy snacks to take with you. Fruit, packs of nuts, protein bars, and jerky all travel really well and are great in a pinch or to supplement your meals!

Not all of these strategies will fit your needs – and that’s kind of the point! They don’t need to.

If you can move from reactive decision-making to proactive, you’ll be able to enjoy your holiday however you choose to do so, without all the stress around if you’re “doing it right” – even if that means taking a break from optimizing for “fitness” entirely!

I do want to note that not all holiday stress comes from food.

The holidays can be an extremely charged or lonely time for many, so if that’s you, please know that I know how that feels, and I’m thinking of you. ❤️

    -Matt

P.S. If you want a downloadable “menu” of these options, here’s one we put together for our coaching clients and I’d love for you to have it.

  • Brooklyn Borough Hall, Liberty players and local volunteers team up to feed families for Thanksgiving • Brooklyn Paper

    [ad_1]

Brooklynites are joining forces more than ever this holiday season to help community members facing food insecurity, a problem worsened by the food affordability crisis and a recent freeze in SNAP benefits during the federal government shutdown.

At Brooklyn Borough Hall, Borough President Antonio Reynoso and his staff hosted a Thanksgiving food distribution on Nov. 21, handing out more than 60,000 pounds of goods, including turkeys, fresh produce such as sweet potatoes, corn, apples, and onions, and nonperishable items like pasta and rice. The food was distributed to more than 125 organizations addressing food insecurity and homelessness across the borough, including houses of worship, community kitchens, nonprofits, and other community-based groups.

Reynoso said that, with support from Borough Hall’s special partner UA3, as well as National Grid, Optimum, Ponce Bank, Citizens, Met Council, Macerich, Food Bazaar, and the Hispanic Federation, the office raised more money than in previous years.

Organizations had to pre-register for the event, and Reynoso emphasized the importance of distributing the food throughout the borough.

“[The distribution event] just comes at a time when food insecurity is high. The national government and the Trump administration are being very clear about wanting to cut SNAP benefits,” Reynoso said, noting that his administration is prepared to support Brooklyn families in need should the benefits be reduced.

Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso also lent a helping hand.

“We’re ready, we’ll keep doing this type of work, and we need to do it every week to make sure that people are fed,” Reynoso said. “I hope that there’s a level of confidence in these families to know, ‘Look, maybe the national government is not there for us, but the local government is showing up.’ So today is about family. It’s about being grateful, being thankful, but also being confident. We got your back. Brooklyn is going to take care of Brooklyn!”

A slew of volunteers, including Borough Hall staff and other organizations, efficiently packed trolleys with holiday staples from a sea of pallets of food before loading them into cars and vans lined up along a well-organized assembly line in Borough Hall Plaza.

Joyce French, president of the Community Education Council 19, told Brooklyn Paper that her organization would distribute the food to about 100 families, noting that families were struggling as she waited in line to have her car loaded.

“We definitely need to have the events, because a lot of our families are not wealthy,” French said. “The struggle is a little bit worse than it was before because not a lot of money is coming in, and people are really struggling. So this is such a big asset.”

Cloud, who said she is not “big on holiday stuff” but is “huge” on family gatherings, told Brooklyn Paper that it is important to remember one’s blessings.

“I always appreciate when a full family can get together and just truly be present in the moment of what they are thankful for, especially with the chaos that is happening around us all the time,” Cloud said. “I think it is still very important to prioritize and remind ourselves how blessed we truly are.”

She gave a shoutout to the Brooklyn Borough Hall team, particularly Deputy Borough President Kim Council, whom Cloud has gotten to know as a caring person.

“The ability to pull something like this off, where you know you are going to feed thousands and thousands of mouths over a holiday season, where families didn’t know where else it was going to come from like that, truly is [remarkable],” Cloud said. “We need more politicians like her who truly do care. And it’s really a blessing for me to be a part of it as well.”

Gardner said Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday because gratitude is a “huge” part of her life.

“It’s awesome that there’s a day to recognize it, where you get to spend time with your family and do things like [volunteering] and give back,” Gardner said, hoping more communities will host events to help people in need.

Mel Quan and his friend Kemori, with “Save The Next Generation,” were part of the “Brownsville In Violence Out” (BIVO) volunteer group.

“I like to give back. I like to do for others,” Quan told Brooklyn Paper. “I just like to be a better version of myself every day.”

Kemori added that they would be busy giving out turkeys in their community in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.

While volunteers spread holiday cheer, newlyweds Patrick and Kelly paused to take some obligatory wedding photos on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall and stopped for a bit to help.

“It’s tough times right now, so this is definitely great,” the groom told Brooklyn Paper.

  • Tori Brixx Denies Sending Summer Walker Plentiful Pizza Hut Orders Amid Their Rich The Kid ‘Side Chick’ Conundrum

    [ad_1]

Summer Walker and Tori Brixx are locked in a heated public feud involving rapper Rich the Kid, and somehow, Pizza Hut has ended up in the middle of the mess. On Nov. 22, Walker jumped on Instagram to call out Brixx after claiming the DJ and model sent Pizza Hut boxes to her house. This happened just days after Walker revealed she’d used the nickname “Pizza Hut” as a code for her secret link-ups with Rich the Kid, who is engaged to Brixx.

Walker, who dated the 33-year-old rapper in 2024, posted photos of the pizza boxes she says appeared at her doorstep. She then publicly accused Tori of harassment, suggesting Brixx intentionally stirred up drama days after the release of her album Finally Over It.

In an Instagram Story, the 29-year-old singer wrote:

“So you harassed me off text free app while I was in the club last night having a time, not even thinking about you & now sending pizzas to my house after telling me you have my address,” adding:

“So it’s giving, restraining order. Like your literally having a psychotic break over a man who literally is obsessed with me & 14 other women. Like, I really can’t figure out your issue with me specifically, instead of taking it up with him. I gave him back yesterday, babe. Now your dragging it. Like I’m really over the internet stuff, but ima put this here for the world n police to see in case you really decide to lose your mind.”

Walker went on to accuse the Instagram model of having “a mental break” over Rich the Kid.

“Like you’re literally having a mental break over a man who is obsessed with me & 14 other women. Like, I really can’t figure out your issue with me specifically, instead of taking it up with him.”

Summer then doubled down on her stance about preferring the “sidepiece” role, arguing that being the main partner comes with unnecessary chaos:

“This why I’ll wanna be the side, why would I EVER wanna be main, look at your life, this must [be] so stressful for you up every night going through that man phone finding a new b*h every week to embarrass you lol SAD very sad life to live.”

Here’s how Tori Brixx responded to Walker’s Pizza Hut allegations.

Tori didn’t stay silent. Hours later, the 35-year-old fired back online, insisting she wasn’t the one behind the Pizza Hut hoax.

“I didn’t send this hoe no pizzas, if I send some shit to her crib, it wouldn’t be pizzas. Call the police and have them check the cameras or card for purchase,” she wrote in the comments section of The Shade Room after the outlet posted the story. This hoe having a breakdown. I wasn’t in the way of anything she had going on. She just didn’t like the truth once it was out. How she upset w/ me because the audio comes out of her begging?”

Brixx also claimed she had receipts from 2023 and 2025, including one “from last week” in which Summer allegedly cried about her, adding: “Just stop Summer, you weird AF.”

She also alleged that Summer has been harassing her for two years and sent a shady message to the singer, citing the Pizza Hut nickname she wanted Rich The Kid to save in his phone.

“We are engaged and you know that. It was my choice not to get married because Rich and I had a few hiccups, and I knew we had a few things we needed to work on as a family. I’m not in a rush to get married and then have to get a divorce but what I do with MY man in MY household is none of your business Pizza Hut.”

Why are Summer Walker and Tori Brixx beefing?

Their latest explosion comes shortly after an audio leak surfaced, allegedly featuring Summer telling Rich the Kid to keep cheating on Tori with her.

The messages imply their situationship took place sometime between 2023 and 2025, according to details obtained by The Shade Room. Photos later emerged of the two on an undercover trip to Italy. In the audio reportedly recorded in July, Summer can be heard saying:

“You know, when you have time […] we always have a good time. You treat me so good, I treat you so good.”

She also expressed that she was glad Rich and Tori patched things up before their engagement in 2019, but she expressed that she wanted to continue seeing him privately:

“I’m so glad that y’all are back together. I want y’all to be together forever, and I just wanna f-k with you.”

She even asked him to buy her a new phone and store her number as “Pizza Hut” so Tori wouldn’t find out.

And where is Rich the Kid in all this?

Rich has largely stayed away from the online chaos. But after the leaked voice notes went viral — and Summer spoke on Instagram Live, accusing Tori of spilling the beans about their past while declaring that she “just wants to be the side”

he hopped on his own stream, accusing Summer of blowing up his phone. Summer snapped back in The Shade Room’s comments, saying she only called to understand why Tori tried to expose her:

“Yeah calling tryna figure why the hell u just let her do that… lol ain’t nobody calling about you.”

What’s your take on this wild back-and-forth between Summer Walker and Tori Brixx?

  • Kayla Bryant: Viral Clip of Clark Atlanta Student Shows Her Being Strangled By Morehouse Student

    [ad_1]

According to statements released by two Atlanta University Center schools, officials are investigating a violent incident involving Clark Atlanta University student Kayla Bryant, who says she was attacked, strangled, and threatened by a Morehouse College student after stepping off a campus shuttle near her apartment. The encounter has ignited widespread anger across the AUC as students demand accountability.

    Source: Raymond Boyd / Getty

Bryant posted a now-viral video detailing the incident on TikTok, and additional clips of the aftermath continue to circulate across X.

Kayla Says A Couple Followed Her Off The Shuttle, And The Man “Started Choking Me”

Bryant said she boarded the campus shuttle Thursday as she normally does. In her TikTok video, she explained that she sat in the back and was listening to music when a couple got on and took the seats in front of her.

According to Bryant, the male student stepped on her foot as she was exiting. When she asked for an apology, she said the girlfriend confronted her and accused her of being “all up in my face.”

Bryant said, “She mushes me on my face and I try to swing back.” That is when she says the male student grabbed her by the neck.

“He picks me up off the ground and starts strangling me,” she said. “I could not breathe. He is telling me he is going to kill me.”

She said she was slammed into the walls while trying to regain her balance. Bryant says she escaped with a bruised face and knee. According to Facebook threads, the incident allegedly occurred at Legacy at Centennial Apartments at 130 Luckie Street, a location that AUC students in the comments identified as an off-campus housing complex.

Online Users Claim To Have Identified The Couple In The Viral Video

Bryant said she shared the video so the public could help identify the individuals involved. “I put this online so y’all could help me,” she said.

According to social media users, commenters on TikTok and X claim the individuals seen in the video are AUC students. Their names have circulated widely as students crowdsource information and attempt to verify who was involved.

BOSSIP is not identifying either person as a suspect. Police have not publicly confirmed the identities of the man or woman, and no arrests have been announced.

Morehouse Calls The Behavior “Disappointing And Completely Inconsistent” With Its Values

According to an official statement posted by Morehouse College on Facebook, the school said it was made aware of the video on Friday and immediately began reviewing the matter through its student conduct process.

Morehouse said the behavior seen in the video is “disappointing and completely inconsistent with Morehouse’s mission, values, and expectations of its community members.”

The college said its Campus Safety and Student Services teams “responded swiftly” and are working closely with Clark Atlanta University leadership and the Atlanta Police Department to investigate the incident and reach a “just resolution.”

Officials added that privacy laws limit what can be shared publicly, but the school will “take all necessary steps to address this issue with urgency, fairness, and care for all involved.”

Clark Atlanta Confirms It Is Working With The Student, Her Family, And Police

According to an official statement posted by Clark Atlanta University on Facebook, the school confirmed it is aware of the video circulating online and verified that the incident took place off campus.

    Here is the full statement:

“Clark Atlanta University is aware of the video circulating on social media and can confirm that the alleged incident took place off campus. While this incident occurred outside Clark Atlanta University’s boundaries, the safety and security of all Clark Atlanta University students remains the top priority.

The Clark Atlanta University Department of Public Safety is in communication with the student, their family, Morehouse College Department of Public Safety, and the Atlanta Police Department to address this situation with both care and urgency.

Clark Atlanta University appreciates your concern for the well-being of our students.”

The school said it will continue assisting law enforcement and offering support to Bryant.

Police Are Actively Searching For The Couple

Bryant said officers are looking for both individuals. She also said she shared her TikTok to help identify the couple and to warn other students.

The investigation remains ongoing. Both Clark Atlanta and Morehouse have stated they will continue cooperating with authorities.

BOSSIP will update this story as more information becomes available.

  • Trump Softens Toward Mamdani As Congress Moves To Condemn Socialism

    [ad_1]

Hours after the United States House of Representatives approved a bipartisan resolution denouncing what it called the “horrors of socialism,” New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani arrived in Washington for his first meeting with President Donald Trump, a moment between two politicians who spent months trading insults.

    Source: JIM WATSON / Getty

According to Time, reporters entered the Oval Office on Friday and found Trump seated at his desk with Mamdani standing beside him, both smiling as they described a productive discussion centered on affordability, public safety, and building more housing in New York City. Time reports Trump said,

“I expect to be helping him, not hurting him.”

Mamdani told reporters the meeting emphasized their “shared purpose” in serving New Yorkers facing a cost-of-living crisis. Time also states the exchange turned briefly tense when a reporter asked Mamdani whether he still considered Trump a fascist, but Trump diffused the moment, laughing and saying,

“That is ok, you can just say yes.”

CONGRESS MOVES AGAINST SOCIALISM WHILE MAMDANI STEALS THE SPOTLIGHT

CBS News reports the House approved the resolution by a vote of 285 to 98. The resolution states that Congress “denounces socialism in all its forms.” Its timing coincided directly with Mamdani’s arrival in Washington for the meeting with Trump.

Eighty-six Democrats voted alongside Republicans, including New York members Hakeem Jeffries, Ritchie Torres, Greg Meeks, Grace Meng, Laura Gillen, and Tom Suozzi.

    Two Democrats voted present.

In CBS News, Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis supported the measure and said her mother fled Cuba to escape “the very things that our new socialist mayor in New York City says he wants.”

Standing beside Trump after their Oval Office meeting, Mamdani dismissed the resolution’s relevance. CBS News quotes him saying,

“I focused very little on resolutions. I have been focusing on the work at hand.”

DEMOCRATS CROSS THE AISLE, BUT THE MOMENT STILL BELONGS TO MAMDANI

Eighty-six Democratic yes votes did not overshadow Mamdani’s stance.

Newsweek via MSN reports the full list of Democratic supporters totaled 86 names across California, New York, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and other states. The outlet notes the vote reflected internal Democratic tension over Mamdani’s rise, with some members fearing Republican attacks on socialism heading into the 2026 midterms.

The article quotes Mamdani again, saying that during the White House news conference,

“There might be differences about ideology, but the place of agreement is the work that needs to be done to make New York City affordable.”

THE MAMDANI EFFECT FLIPS GOP TALKING POINTS UPSIDE DOWN

Trump publicly defends the democratic socialist Republicans planned to attack.

According to AP News, Trump’s embrace of Mamdani disrupted a key GOP messaging plan that cast Mamdani as a symbol of the Democratic Party’s shift leftward. AP News reports Trump rejected claims from Republican Elise Stefanik that Mamdani is a “jihadist,” telling reporters,

“I just met with a man who is a very rational person. The better he does, the happier I am,” adding that he would be comfortable living again in a Mamdani led New York.

Trump even offered unexpected praise for Bernie Sanders, saying the two agreed on more than people realized. The Oval Office remarks marked a significant shift from Trump’s earlier attacks on Mamdani, which sources confirm included calling him a “communist lunatic” and threatening to cut federal funding if he won.

AFFORDABILITY BECOMES THE MEETING POINT — AND MAMDANI OWNS THE MESSAGE

Both men lean into the issue Mamdani used to win New York.

AP News reports Trump used the meeting to emphasize affordability, a core theme of Mamdani’s campaign. Trump said,

“Anything I do is going to be good for New York if I can get prices down.”

He added that affordability and groceries were “the new words” shaping his economic message, even as AP News notes inflation has reached three percent annually.

Mamdani repeatedly tied his victory to voters who crossed party lines because of cost-of-living issues. Time reports he said,

“There were more New Yorkers who voted for President Trump in the most recent presidential election because of that focus on cost of living.”

A BOOST TO MAMDANI’S AGENDA AS TRUMP WARMS UP

AP News notes the meeting may ease fears among Mamdani’s supporters that Trump would retaliate against his election. Trump previously threatened to deploy the National Guard in New York and considered withholding federal funds. The outlets shares that after the meeting Trump said,

“I want him to do a great job and will help him do a great job.”

Critics speculate that support from the president may give Mamdani more room to pursue policy goals like universal free childcare and expanded affordability programs, which require significant funding and stability.

THE BOTTOM LINE: THE MAMDANI EFFECT IS REAL

On a day Congress tried to condemn socialism, the democratic socialist in the Oval Office set the tone.

Sources say Mamdani left Washington with something unusual for a mayor elect who campaigned against the sitting president: a handshake, televised praise, and evidence that even his fiercest critics may be responding to the momentum behind him.
