  • Tips For Holiday Travel With Weed

Tips For Holiday Travel With Weed

    [ad_1]

It has been reported 55.4 Million Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving holiday. This forecast is a 2.3% increase over last year, the third highest since 2000, so be ready for crowds.  Whether near or far, you might want to bring some “treats” to use while away from home, TSA frowns on it, but here are some tips for holiday travel with weed.

If you plan to use while traveling, which we caution, here are a few suggestions. One, forgot flower and vapes, too smelly, too noticeable and too annoying to those who can make traveling difficult.  Gummies are the easiest and least noticeable, especially since airports sell tons of regular candy.  Don’t overindulge, you don’t want to be the subject of some’s viral video or be stopped by TSA, security of the Highway Patrol.

Now about bringing treats with you on your trip.

    By Air

Wouldn’t it be great to not have to worry about weed when traveling? Sadly, we’re not there yet, far from it, in fact. While some airports are fine with it, others are not. For example, Denver’s airport, which is located in the very legal state of Colorado, forbids cannabis.

RELATED: TSA (Sort of) Allows (Some) Hemp-CBD Products on Flights

As for the Travel Security Administration (TSA), their stance is pretty clear. Since marijuana is federally illegal, passengers will be stopped if they have cannabis on them. Still, it helps to know your rights; don’t interact with police officers unless you have to and, if detained or arrested, let them know you don’t consent to a search and you want a lawyer.

RELATED: What TSA Would Do If You Got Caught With Marijuana

Still, if you’re traveling with a vape pen or some edibles, it’s very unlikely you’ll be stopped. When it comes to flower, especially if it’s large amounts, we’d advise to store your well earned weed in a mason jar and to hide it away from sunlight in some cabinet in your apartment, waiting for you upon your return. If you’re going home for the holidays, use some of your old contacts for weed, or mooch off of some cousin.

    By Land

5 Things You Should Be Aware Of Before Going On A Roadtrip
Photo by Alex Jumper via Unsplash

The rules of traveling by land are similar to those on air; while the states where you’re traveling to and from may be legal, the drug remains illegal on a federal level, making matters complicated.

RELATED: In Possession Of Weed? Here’s What Not To Do If You’re Pulled Over

While there are penalties for traveling with weed, especially if you have large amounts of it, officers are not actively on the lookout for them. This means that if you are driving consciously you likely won’t have trouble mobilizing your weed. Make sure you store your weed in an airtight container or that you prioritize edibles and vapes, since these are more discreet and less likely to be spotted. And make sure you don’t embibe and drive.

    What About Medical Marijuana?

If you have a medical marijuana card, you might face less hurdles. Still, it’s not a clear path. Be sure to have your doctor’s certificate, your marijuana medical ID card, and your physician’s number. Ideally, you’d be traveling to a state with medical marijuana reciprocity. Make sure you have the smallest amount possible on you, keeping your weed stored in a convenient place.

  • Is Black Market Weed Safe

    Is Black Market Weed Safe

    [ad_1]

Canada and 24 US states have legal recreational marijuana. Forty states have medical marijuana available, yet for some, it is not enough. The cannabis black market is thriving while hurting the newly legal market and confusing consumers. As a customer, you need to know if black market weed safe.

A study commissioned by the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association found that after reviewing cannabis products from 20 illicit stores in New York City, about 40% contained harmful contaminants such as E. coli, lead and salmonella. This is prior to the boom of more than 1,500 unlicensed dispensaries. Consumers are paying premium prices for something which may not agree with their body.

RELATED: California or New York, Which Has The Biggest Marijuana Mess

While it’s an issue in states like Colorado, Michigan, and Washington, it’s a much bigger problem in New York and California. It is a major drag on the young legal industry and a potential danger to consumers.

Canada was forward thinking about started a campaign early in legalizaiton to convince consumer to purchase from authorized dispensaries.  Here is the information Manitoba shares with the public:

If you buy cannabis, make sure to get it from a licensed retail store that offers a wide selection of legal products.

Street, or black market cannabis offers you no quality control in terms of strength or purity. It may contain traces of pesticides and even other drugs that could put your life at risk.

When you support the black market, you have no idea whether or not your money will go to fund other illegal activities. Buying cannabis from a black market supplier puts you at risk of arrest and fines.

WIth the black market, it is important to understand the supply chain.  Step one is the growers. Currently, there is a significant number of indoors grows which increase the cost of the plant.  California’s growers are losing money to illicit grows both indoor and outdoor because it is just cheaper.  The state is doing anything to crack down and there is zero oversight to insure quality or grow techniques.

RELATED: Guess What Is Gumming Up The Marijuana World

The other two segments are “the guy”. Some people find it easier to use their “guy” who hooks them up. They acquire product – both legal and illicit and then sell directly to the customer.  No taxes, no oversight, no verification for what is in the product.

Two big issues for consumers are inconsistent potency levels which means you don’t get high enough or you get too high. The other is unsanitary processing and packaging, which can directly effect your body and body functions.

While California has some of hte highest taxes of the industry, their enforcement is dismal. Colaroda and Maine have some of the best with dwindle black markets. With over 50% of the US having to legal weed, state governments to reaccess taxing and enforcement is order to

  • Pancreatic Cancer And Chemo And CBD

Pancreatic Cancer And Chemo And CBD

    [ad_1]

Out of all types of cancers that exist, which type do you think is one of the hardest to beat? On a worldwide scale, pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer in regards to overall survival rates.  Now research has given a small ray of hope for pancreatic cancer and chemo and CBD.

According to the American Cancer Society, amongst the combination of all stages of pancreatic cancer, the survival rate for one-year is 20%, and the survival rate for five years is under seven percent. Although certain cancer treatments are commonly used such as chemotherapy and radiation, in a recent study, it has been found that the combination of chemotherapy and cannabidiol (CBD) treatments have led to significant pancreatic cancer survival rates.

Research Findings on Cannabidiol (CBD) and Chemotherapy Cancer Treatments

In the recent study mentioned above, mice that were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer received CBD administration alongside chemotherapy treatments. As a result of this combination, it was discovered that the mice with CBD and chemotherapy treatments survived close to three times longer than the mice that were only treated with chemotherapy.

RELATED: Marijuana As Treatment For Prostate Cancer: Here’s What Doctors Know

In general, this study’s findings provide more valid reasoning for human testing. Although this study hasn’t been conducted on humans yet, the released results demonstrate the need to further investigate and study cannabis compounds, especially CBD.

    Grim Pancreatic Cancer Survival Rates

Overall, pancreatic cancer is the twelfth most common cancer on a worldwide scale. Also, the highest occurrence of this type of cancer is in developed countries. Unfortunately, the overall survival rate for pancreatic cancer is quite grim. In particular, Marco Falasca, a lead researcher at Queen Mary University of London stated the following about the life expectancy of pancreatic cancer:

“The life expectancy for pancreatic cancer patients has barely changed in the last 40 years because there are very few, and mostly only palliative care treatments available. Given the five-year survival rate for people with pancreatic cancer is less than seven percent, the discovery of new treatments and therapeutic strategies is urgently needed.”

With this being said, due to the recent results derived from the mice study, there’s a strong need to further examine CBD and its potential in treating different types of cancer, especially pancreatic.

    Cannabidiol’s Medicinal and Anti-cancer Properties

When it comes to CBD, thus far, it has been found that it’s an extremely medically beneficial cannabinoid, and it contains both anti-tumoral and neuroprotective properties, which can help those who have been diagnosed with cancer. However, CBD has also demonstrated its anti-nausea and antiemetic (anti-vomiting) properties. These properties have proven to be very effective for those undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer-related therapies. Additionally, Cannabidiol has been found to improve the side effects caused by chemotherapy, especially vomiting, nausea, and pain.

If human testing is conducted on the combined topic of pancreatic cancer, CBD, and chemotherapy treatments, this would build upon past animal research findings. Specifically, one study discovered CBD’s possible anti-cancer properties, and another study found CBD to be a potential anti-cancer drug.

Legality of CBD in the United States and the United Kingdom

Moreover, due to the cannabis legality differences between America and the United Kingdom, it’s likely that the conduction of human trials with a focus on CBD would progress faster in the UK than in the U.S. The reason for this is because currently, the cannabis plant remains a Schedule I illegal substance in the U.S., and CBD is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. Whereas, in the UK, CBD has been approved for usage and research purposes.

RELATED: Cannabis Flavonoid Could Provide Breakthrough Treatment Against Pancreatic Cancer

Therefore, researchers and scientists based in England can legally test this cannabinoid in human clinical trials, according to Dr. Falasca. Nonetheless, the U.S. is progressing slowly but surely, especially because the U.S. FDA recently approved of a CBD-based drug called Epidiolex for the treatment of epilepsy. This specific drug approval was a significant move since it’s the first U.S. FDA-approved drug that contains a cannabinoid derived from cannabis.

Overall, since pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer, it would be in the general public’s best interest to have access to a natural form of medicine for cancer treatments such as CBD rather than just chemotherapy and radiation. Due to the noteworthy results that were released from the mice study discussed above, it’s likely that Cannabidiol will be further studied and investigated moving forward, especially for cancer treatment purposes.

Is It Safe To Smoke Weed Daily

    [ad_1]

While there is a phrase too much of a good thing, most people don’t overdo. But if you are wondering if you are overusing anything, candy, alcohol or marijuana, it is smart to pause and asses how often, how much, and why.  Using marijuana heavily (daily or near-daily) can damage your memory, attention, and learning ability. It can last a week or more after the last time marijuana was used. Some mircodose low amounts to manage stress and anxiety, the trick is the potency.

The Fresh Toast – Is it safe to smoke weed daily? It depends – why do you ask, how are you feeling?  Here is an answer to your question.

There is not significant research for the complete answer. Someone who has been waking and baking for years is tdifferent that a cancer patient medicating with cannabis to relieve pain or nausea.  Ask he question and be honest with yourself. And, if possible, have the conversation with your general practitioner or a trusted doctor.

    How Addictive Is Marijuana?

According to one government-supported study, nearly 9 percent of people who use marijuana will become abusers. This compares to about 10% of people who drink alcohol, cocaine, 17% Opioids 26%, and for nicotine 32%. Cannabis is less addictive than neatly every legal or illegal drug.

Research has demonstrated that daily marijuana use can lead to increased tolerance and withdrawal symptoms when trying to stop.

RELATED: How To Lower Your Tolerance To Marijuana In One Easy Step

If you have the slightest concern that you have developed a physical or mental dependence on marijuana, be proactive. Ween yourself off daily use. Take a tolerance break and recalibrate your system. If this becomes too difficult, it is possible you might want to explore more why.

Does Daily Use Cause Physical Changes To The Brain

Research is mixed on this question, except for those with still developing brain. Science is clear cannabis, alcohol and other drugs have a definite impact on brain development. In adults, it is a mixed bag and also depends on dosing. A study published in the Journal of Neuroscience, found “daily marijuana use is not associated with brain morphometric measures in adolescents or adults.”

According to this study, earlier research did not control for alcohol use. When that variable was included, the study suggests “it is possible alcohol use, or other factors, may explain some of the contradictory findings to date.”

The study concluded that “while the literature clearly supports a deleterious short-term effect of marijuana on learning and memory, it seems unlikely that marijuana use has the same level of long-term deleterious effects on brain morphology as other drugs like alcohol.”

Does this mean daily consumption of cannabis is OK? No. The research does not say that. The data is not definitive on what longtime daily use does to cognitive development.

Dr. Stuart Gitlow, a professor at the University of Florida, is an addiction specialist and an ardent opponent of the medical use of marijuana, promotes a loss of attention, focus and concentration.

While the medical community continues to study the issue, one thing is clear: Young, developing minds should refrain from cannabis use. And daily consumption for an adolescent or teen is not advised.

Should I Steer Clear Of Waking And Baking

Similar to morning use of alcohol among alcohol-dependent individuals, morning use of marijuana may indicate dependence and increased cannabis-related impairment, according to a study in the journal Addiction and Research Theory.

The report, co-authored by cannabis researcher Mitch Earleywine, suggests that “morning users reported significantly more problems than non-morning users, and morning use accounted for significant unique variance in problems.”

RELATED: Does Marijuana Make You Stupid? Here’s What Experts Say

The positive news, according to the study, shows that “morning use also has the potential to lend itself to straightforward intervention. … Exploratory mediational analyses did not support the idea that morning use led to problems via withdrawal.”

So if this is one of your habits, now may be the time to wean yourself fr0m it. There are potential negative outcomes, but not in everybody.

Can it cause long term health issues

Marijuana smoking, like tobacco smoking, may be associated with increased risk of lung cancer. Marijuana smoke contains cannabinoid compounds in addition to many of the same components as tobacco smoke.

In addition, cannabis does increase symptoms of bronchitis like coughing and wheezing.

  • Factors Influencing Cannabis Prices Across U.S. States –

Factors Influencing Cannabis Prices Across U.S. States –

    [ad_1]

Factors influencing cannabis prices across U.S. states the legalization of cannabis for both medical and recreational use. Has become a significant social and economic issue in the United States in recent years. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, 18 states had legalized recreational cannabis. And many others had legalized medical marijuana.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the legal cannabis market is the wide variation in pricing across different states. In this article, we will explore the factors that influence cannabis prices. And identify some states where prices have historically been lower.

    Legalization Status

The legal status of cannabis in a state has a profound impact on its pricing. States that have fully legalized recreational cannabis tend to have lower prices compared to states that only permit medical use or maintain strict regulations. This is because the larger legal market leads to increased competition and economies of scale, which can result in lower prices.

    Taxes and Regulations

Taxes and regulations significantly affect cannabis pricing. States with high tax rates and stringent regulatory requirements may have higher prices due to the added costs associated with compliance. Conversely, states with lower tax rates and fewer regulations tend to offer more affordable cannabis products.

    Supply and Demand

The fundamental economic principle of supply and demand plays a crucial role in determining cannabis prices. If the supply of cannabis in a state is abundant, prices are likely to be lower. Conversely, states with limited supply and high demand may experience higher prices.

    Local Production

States that allow local cultivation of cannabis often have lower prices because they can produce their supply, reducing the need to import from other states. States with limited cultivation capabilities may need to import cannabis, leading to higher prices due to transportation and supply chain costs.

    Cost of Living and Competition

The cost of living in a state can also impact cannabis prices. States with a lower cost of living may offer more affordable cannabis products since operational costs for dispensaries and growers are typically lower.

The number of dispensaries and producers in a state can greatly influence pricing. A higher number of cannabis businesses within a state can lead to increased competition and, subsequently, lower prices.

    Quality and Variety

The quality and variety of cannabis products available in a state can affect pricing. States with a wide range of products and high-quality strains may charge premium prices, while those with a more limited selection might have lower prices.

    Historical Pricing

Historical pricing trends can provide insight into which states have consistently maintained lower cannabis prices. Factors such as competition, regulatory changes, and market dynamics can contribute to these trends.

    States with Lower Cannabis Prices

As of 2022, several states were known for their relatively lower cannabis prices due to a combination of factors like liberal regulations, lower taxes, and ample local production. Some of these states included Oregon, Colorado, and Washington. However, it’s essential to note that prices can fluctuate over time, and new developments may have occurred since my last update.

    Conclusion

Cannabis prices in the United States vary widely from state to state, with multiple factors at play. While some states have historically offered more affordable cannabis due to a combination of factors.

Like legalization status, taxes, competition, and local production, it’s crucial to remember that the industry is continually evolving. As states implement new regulations and the market matures, cannabis pricing may change. It’s advisable to consult recent sources for the most up-to-date information on cannabis prices in specific states.

Arizona’s Pot Social Equity Rules Still Allow for Quick Sale of Licenses – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

The state published new draft rules for the voter-mandated marijuana social equity program last week that expand eligibility requirements for Arizona’s remaining 26 dispensary licenses.

Representatives of a coalition of several pro-cannabis groups trying to influence the state’s creation of the program say they like this version better than the first, but that it still contains the potentially fatal flaw of allowing people who obtain the licenses to immediately sell them. The licenses are worth millions apiece.

Despite the many changes in the latest draft, the coalition is sticking with its previous assessment that the program, which aims to set aside licenses for communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs, is “designed to fail,” said Julie Gunnigle, director of politics for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws of Arizona.

“We’re creating extremely lucrative lottery tickets,” she said. “The number of folks who win the lottery and sell immediately is going to be astronomical.”

(Applicants will need to cough up a nonrefundable $5,000 to enter the contest, which will take place in mid-December. No lottery will occur if there are fewer than 26 applicants for the 26 available social equity dispensary licenses. But Gunnigle said that with each license worth an estimated $7-10 million or more on the open market, the number of applicants expected is “well into the thousands.”)

Last month, 355 applicants applied for 13 standard…

Finding a physical location to open a cannabis business in Denver is challenging. Ask local Sarah Woodson and she’ll tell you it’s among the biggest barriers to entry for new entrepreneurs.

Woodson would know. In addition to opening Denver’s first legal marijuana tour bus company, The Cannabis Experience, she’s the founder of The Color of Cannabis, an organization that advocates for BIPOC representation in the industry. One of the pillars of her work is a 10-week course that supports social equity business applicants — people of color and other marginalized groups that were disproportionately harmed by the war on drugs — and helps them bring their ideas to life.

Last year, while scouting potential brick-and-mortar locations with one of her class graduates, Woodson found a creative solution to one of the challenges facing cannabis entrepreneurs: A 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Montbello where multiple product manufacturers could share the space and, importantly, the rent.
