Each generation has a variety of concerns, but a big surprise is the amount of Gen Z’ers who are now worried about fertility. According to surveys, nearly half of Gen Z is worried about their fertility despite not currently trying to conceive. The Centers for Disease Control defines infertility as “not being able to get pregnant after one+ year of unprotected sex.” According to a report published by the World Health Organization (WHO), “Around 17.5% of the adult population experience infertility.”
Previous generations worried about fertility when it came time to have children, Gen Z sees it part of their future path. They are fretting about becoming pregnant at 35 when they are 25. When deciding to have kids later, they want to know what to do now so they can have what they want then. Can marijuana help Gen Z’s fertility concerns?

With alcohol it is clear chronic alcohol exposure can cause problems with fertility in both men and women. For men, it can lead to damaged sperm and for women, it may affect the ability to conceive. While actively receiving medical treatments to get pregnant, alcohol can reduce a woman’s chance.
For women, frequent use of marijuana can cause issues which could tamp down fertility. Consuming as often as three times per week may have impacts says a report published in Fertility & Sterility Science.Evidence suggests marijuana can reduce female fertility by disrupting hypothalamic release of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), leading to reduced estrogen and progesterone production and anovulatory menstrual cycles. It can also delay or inhibit ovulation. For men, data showed current or past marijuana users had more damaged sperm, lower sperm counts and reduced semen volume.
But can worrying and the constant anxiety around it affect the outcome? While it’s unlikely stress alone cause infertility, stress interferes with a woman’s ability to get pregnant. Research has shown that women with a history of depression are twice as likely to experience infertility. Anxiety also can prolong the time needed to achieve pregnancy.
While more research needs to be done, managing stress may improve fertility.
The first part of the is filled with work, to-do things and prepping for 5 days of jobs stuff. Going into the work week, some people experience sadness, anxiety, or lack of motivation which can be a routine, which is not healthy. While Boomers and Gen X were raised in a world with fewer life options and work was just a thing you had to do, younger Millennials and Gen Z’ers were given a somewhat different take. Gap Years, working abroad, flex schedules and work at home gave them an option to craft a work environment suited to their needs. But as that falls away, stress and anxiety have increased. Some 39% of Gen Z feel regular anxiety. And roughly half of Gen Zs (52%) and millennials (49%) feel burned out by their job. So what are the best ways to make the first part of the week positive?
Weekends are made for fun, indulgences and treats. Each week decide Monday or Tuesday will be fun or favorite food night. It can be something easy like Sloppy Joes, a speciality salad, a great steak, but something to look forward to and enjoy. Also, make it something easy but transforms Tuesday into something special. Food also releases mood-boosting serotonin and dopamine, which can brighten the earlier part of the week. Food especially rich in those two include fish, grains, lean meats, olive oil and fruits and vegetables.

Swap beer for marijuana
All studies show marijuana is healthier for the body than beer. Fewer calories, less boating, no hangover. While California Sober has become a thing, more people are drinking less beer Monday-Wednesday and just having a couple of hits of a vape or a gummy. They get the chill without the extra weight or hangover. Canada did a study on the trend, but ultimately it helps you maintain energy for the rest of the week.
Plan something fun
Everyone looks forward to the weekend as a chance to relax and do fun things. Why not put Monday or Tuesday night as a special activity night. Anything from bing watch 3 favorite shows, trying a new video game, a long soak in the tub, or an early dinner with friend. Transform Monday or Tuesday into “Fun Day” by either planning or spontaneously doing something enjoyable for 1-3 hours?
Think about reversing the weekend sleeping in to sleeping early. Think about listening to calming music, read a book and just soak up snuggling in the bed. Avoid your phone and just relax and allow your body to unwind for a solid night’s rest.
Hopefully these tips will transform the first part of the week into a self care enjoyable time…and give you the energy and a positive outlook for the rest of the week.
Want to wake up to an extra special breakfast? Try this marijuana breakfast treat!
During the 1985 holiday season, food history was made with the first Cinnabon® Bakery in the SeaTac Mall in Seattle, Washington. Thousands of eager customers waited to try the original Cinnabon®cinnamon roll and it became instant obsession. A father and son took the sugar, sticky breakfast treat and put it out for the world. This was the second big change for the bun, the canned cinnamon rolls premiered in 1956, changing weekend mornings for millions of households. The marriage of breakfast and dessert is a great way to start a special morning, but if you want something extra special, enjoy these cannabis cinnamon buns this weekend!
This recipe give you a chance to spices since you don’t have to use strictly cinnamon; adding other zippy spices to the mix like ginger, clove, lemon, and cardamom make things more interesting. Copious amounts of butter and sugar and THC are all supporting roles for some of the best buns around.

To create the dough, mix in a stand mixer or bread machine until you have a very wet looking blob. A bread machine will do the rising for you, but if you’re not taking that approach, dispense into a well oiled bowl and cover with oiled plastic wrap, allow to rise for at least an hour. It should triple in size and now be a giant fluffy cloud of goodness.

Plop the dough on a floured surface and roll into a sheet. Spread room temperature butter over the sheet, then add all of your delicious spices and sugar.

Roll this sheet into a log, then cut it with a sharp or serrated knife into about 15 slices. Arrange the slices in a square metal or glass baking dish that has been generously greased, then allow to rise again for 45 minutes to an hour.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees when you’re ⅔ of the way through the second rise.

Now for the fun part: spices like cinnamon and cardamom can actually help you get more high from a single dose of THC. The same flavors in those spices are the terpenes that make a cannabis strain have different effects, like myrcene. Play with the ratios and you can change the effects, but it’s all still going to taste like that yummy cinnamon that makes firm memories every time you fill up the house with their delightful presence. Try sealing some up individually and freezing, then you can have a single serving, medicated breakfast anytime!
The cannabis industry is on edge as it waits to see how the federal government acts. On one side is the slow moving Biden/Harris administration and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) slow walking rescheduling. The DEA is having to wade through overwhelming positive support for fellow agencies and the general public. On the other side, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has allowed groups from his party to protest and try to stop the process and issuing statements on the dangers of marijuana. Coupled with a mess in California and a significant drop in investment in the industry as everyone waits the outcome, things are tough. But there are positive signs for NY legal marijuana.
New York was one track to be the biggest single market perhaps in the word in the when they approved recreational marijuana. But a last minute major overhaul of the process a few weeks before it rolled out ended in a massive chaos. January 2023 launch the first legal store, but at year end there were roughly 25 legal dispensaries and ultimately 2,800 illicit ones in the Empire State. While consumers may or may not have known or cared about the legality of where they shopped, they should. The products in the stores are unregulated, which is a strong health issue as ingredients and dosage could vary significantly.

Wana Brands is the largest gummy company in the industry. They are in 20 states, Canada and Puerto Rico and are backed by Canopy and the alcohol giant Constellation Brands. Highly respected, they are the most mainstream major product company in the industry. Entering the New York Market, is a sign things are starting to normalize. NY has closed over 800 illicit stores and is working toward 200 legal ones.
Joe Hodas, President of Wana shared “Wana’s entry in the New York market has been a move that’s been in the works forquite some time. We’ve already established a strong presence in over 20 stores, including The Travel Agency and Housing Works. Orders are rolling in and morelocations will be coming online soon. While our initial focus is on the New York City area,we’re working on expansion into upstate as well. We believe New York will be one of themost important states on the map for us and we are excited to get more products intothe hands of New Yorkers and all those who visit from around the world.”
When asked about why enter the NY market now, Hodas responded.
“Entering the New York market for us was all about timing. In the past, the prevalence of illicit stores in the city made it a challenging environment for a brand like ours. But during my recent visits, I noticed a shift—there’s now a more robust network of regulated, legal stores. We felt it was finally the right moment for Wana Brands to bring our products to New Yorkers. We couldn’t have made this move without our partner, urbanXtracts. Their state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities and shared commitment to quality have made this launch possible and we’re excited to see what the future will bring.”
“The Travel Agency is thrilled to partner with Wana in this vibrant New York cannabis market, that we’ve helped grow since its launch. Wana is also one of this industry’s pioneers, building their business through consistent products and the exploration of new formats and flavors. We look forward to collaborating with Wana in providing New Yorkers with safe, high-quality cannabis experience.” stated Paul Yau, The Travel Agency, Co-Founder and CEO. One of the larger, legal dispensary brand in NYC.

The Governor will have an impact on federal cannabis policy – so where does he stand?
Minnesota Governor Walz leapt into the national spotlight today to be the Vice Presidential candidate in the race toward Election Day. With the Democratic Party upended by the stepping aside of Biden, Walz will be the new vice president contender and a leader in policy decisions. He has a warm, folksy attitude, but what about Governor Tim Walz and marijuana?
The cannabis industry is eagerly awaiting the outcome of rescheduling. It will be a key federal change for the industry. While consumers are embracing marijuana for both medical and recreational use, the industry is struggling. The mainly mom and pop businesses have had to fight the black market a variety of types of difficult regulations and zero tax benefits. The federal government is close to rescheduling and the new president will oversee the next steps with cannabis.
Minnesota state legislature voted to legalize weed and Walz was a supporter. As usual, there was significant back and forth and concessions made, but recreational passed in the summer of 2023. But, as usual, the process of implementation takes longer and the first dispensaries are open. Currently, the state has 17 open and continues to expand.
Walz spent 24 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a command sergeant major. He was the highest-ranking enlisted soldier to serve in Congress when he joined the House in 2007. This should make him an ally of medical marijuana treatment for Veterans, especially around the treatment of PTSD.
There has been one hiccup, Walz appointed a hemp shop owner to be the state’s top cannabis regulator. The next day, they had to step down from the role after the Star Tribune reported the dispensary had sold illegal products and had federal tax liens and judgments against her. Minnesota’s nonpartisan government watchdog the Office of the Legislative Auditor later found the governor’s office missed some standard background check steps before the appointment.
Walz also seems to have some appeal for younger voters, which is critical for cannabis since Gen Z is drifting from alcohol and embracing marijuana more.
As marijuana becomes mainstream – it brings it’s own language…here is a quick primer!
Cannabis is now part of the mainstream. Millions use it for medical purposes and the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians has recognized it has medical benefits. The federal government has instructed the Drug Enforcement Admisntration to reschedule it to be like Ibuprofen and Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration agree. And this election is the first where a presidential candidate is supporting the marijuana industry publicly. With all the buzz, it is for those new to cannabis to understand the language of marijuana.
Cannabis refers to all products derived from the plant Cannabis sativa. The cannabis plant contains about 540 chemical substances. Both marijuana and CBD come from cannabis along with hashish, and hashish oil.
Marijuana
Marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant. The plant contains the mind-altering chemical THC and other similar compounds.
Dosing
A dose is the unit of measurement of the amount of THC you take in. Most newbies start at 2.5-5 mg and with experience expand to higher amounts.
Dispensary
Dispensaries are the legal retail outlets for marijuana. They are sometimes in odd locations due to zone hours and currently, most can not take credit cards.
Weed, Pot, Grass & Dope
These are all terms referring to marijuana. Some are more dated than others. Other names including reefer, herb and Mary Jane.
Hashish
Hashish, also known as hash, is a concentrated form of cannabis that has been used for centuries for its psychoactive effects.
Joint, Pre-roll, Jay
This is kind of a marijuana cigarette, which can be shaped into different ways or can use different types of rolling paper. Joints are handmade and pre-rolls are used manufactured and purchased at a dispensary.
Vaping devices are battery-operated devices that people use to inhale an aerosol, which typically contains nicotine or marijuana, flavorings, and other chemicals. Vaping is a bit better than actual smoking, had less smell and is more discreet.
Edible
Edibles are food products which has been infused with marijuana. Homemade edibles include the classic brownie and cookie and dosing can be tricky. Dispensary purchased edibles include beverages, candy, sweets, gummies, soup, and more.
Gummy
Gummies are candy which has marijuana THC. Gummies make up over 80% of the edible market. Also, over 45% of people who have used marijuana last year had a gummy at some point.
Microdosing
Microdosing, often done with vaping and gummies, is a form of marijuana use where you might be doing it to manage anxiety or another issue and you take small amount (2.5-5 mg) throughout the day.
Grinder Or Buster
This is the main instrument cannabis users from all over the world use. Safer than scissors and a must have for fans of smoking flower.
These are all measurements of marijuana. You can purchase an ounce, a quarter, an eighth or whatever else your dispensary or dealer have to offer.
Bong & Bowl
A bong is the device, similar to a pipe, which uses water to enhance the smoking experience, resulting in a cleaner and healthier way to get high. The bowl is the part of the bong or pipe where the weed is placed, receiving heat and producing smoke.
New York is one of the signature cities in the world. The marijuana industry sees it as one of the top global markets. The state government had a strong plan to roll out recreational and changed in within a few weeks of launch. Chaos ensued and the issuing of licenses basically became a trickle. But is New York finally getting its marijuana act together?
The chaos allowed around 2,000 illicit dispensaries to open in the state, with around 2,500 in greater New York City. There were even unlicensed retailers within 3 blocks of NYC’s iconic City Hall. After trying to force landlords to shutter the stores and then begging social media companies to unplatform them, the government had to act. The state legislature passed new laws to crack down on the unsanctioned shops. Previously, the city’s power to step in had been limited and the legal market was bogged down in red tape.
The state is proud they have closed roughly 1,000 illicit stores in the state with over 750 NYC alone. Over 41,000 violations have been issued, totally $65,671,487 in penalties. The city estimates it has already seized a total value of $41,443,792 in products, whose fate remains unclear.
In an added complication, it seems part of the products sold came from the California black market. The closures could benefit the Golden State’s efforts to wrangle their mess. The Empire State has less than 200 retailers so this can be a huge boom for them. The illicit market was very profitable in NYC, with some estimates of $1.5 billion in sales in 2023.
Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams celebrated the success of the crackdown on Wednesday.
“In the three months since launching ‘Operation Padlock to Protect,’ our administration has delivered major results on a major quality of life and public safety issue,” Adams said. “For too long, illegal shops have contributed to a feeling that anything goes on our streets.”
Is New York finally getting its marijuana act together, the industry is certainly hoping it is.
Hiking is the most popular summer sport, especially when the temperatures are under 100. It is an easy entry activity just needing good shoes and the right location and off you go. Emerging yourself in nature and seeing waterfalls, meadows, vistas and scenic views are all the big payoff. It can be even better when considering the option of adding in some of cannabis. Here is what to know about hiking with marijuana.
Hiking while drinking alcohol is never a good idea. Alcohol can impair balance, significantly contributes to dehydration, and impair judgement. While you don’t want to get totally stoned while hiking, a little focused consumption or microdosing can enhance nature’s wonders.
While there are many approaches to get high on a hike, vapes and gummies tend to be the easiest. Find a strain which gives you energy and focus and manage the high so you can enjoy the hike. It will unlock parts of your brain and the make the journey better.
Pack all the necessary tools
As you head out, make sure to pack all your necessary items in discreet and convenient places. If you’re taking a vape or pipe, pack one that you wouldn’t mind losing or breaking, since accidents (tripping, falling, etc.) are common while hiking. If you’re planning on smoking, make sure you’ve prepared it ahead of time and stored it somewhere that protects it and keeps the smell contained.

Be discreet
No matter the state where you live, cannabis is still considered a Schedule I drug, meaning that if you’re caught with it in a national park, you’re still breaking the law. Also, not everyone enjoys the smell of weed so be considerate of others and smoke in an area that’s secluded and private.
Pack water and snacks
Water is a basic necessity when hiking, but plan to add a bit more if you’re considering bringing weed. Remember to pack your favorite snacks in case you get hit with the munchies and still want to be able to enjoy your hike.
Photo by Eddy Billard via Unsplash
Never travel alone
No matter how experienced you are with marijuana, it’s important to be with someone if you’re planning on consuming somewhere other than your home; you don’t want to get too stoned and then be unable to make your way back home. And you never know if something can go wrong.
If you’re an inexperienced hiker or if you’re trying out a new trail, being with a companion is even more important. It’s also more fun to converse with someone, high or not, while on the trail.
Don’t litter
After you’re done consuming, snacking and hiking, make sure to take the trash with you and leave the space a little better than you found it.
Being sick is no fun for multiple reasons. No matter what time of year, you feel you are going to miss out on fun things including seeing friends, sleeping well and imbibing. Often when sick, antibiotics are prescribed. They treat or prevent some types of bacterial infection. Their superpower is killing bacteria or preventing them from reproducing and spreading. They are not effective on viral problems like the flu. But for them to be effective, you have to take them regularly and not do anything to interfere with their work. Alcohol is always a big no no when on antibiotics. Drinking alcohol can lower your energy and slow how fast you get better from illness. So it’s a good idea not to drink alcohol until you finish your antibiotics and are feeling better. But can you consume marijuana while on antibiotics?
There hasn’t been much research on the interactions of cannabis and antibiotics, but commons sense comes into play. Research indicates marijuana use can increase the pain-relieving effects of opioids without increasing the levels of opioids found in plasma. This seems to reduce opioid use. The same research review noted children taking clobazam, an anti-seizure medication, and cannabidiol, experience increased levels of clobazam in their blood. And, those who are taking valproate and using medical marijuana appeared to be at higher risks for abnormalities in liver function.
Unlike alcohol, there is still needed research to be done examining individual medications and how of marijuana use could change how they work in the body. Patients taking medication for chronic health conditions need to talk with their medical professional before using marijuana, but what if you’re on a short treatment using antibiotics? Can you use marijuana while taking antibiotics and kick your infection to the curb without complications of delay?
When it comes to taking antibiotics and using marijuana at the same time, currently, there is no research indicating it isn’t a safe practice. Some medical professionals have expressed concerns taking THC with antibiotics could increase the risk of unpleasant side effects of both. If you use while taking antibiotics, it’s best to keep an eye out for increased side effects and to stop using THC if you experience any. Currently, it is not on thelist of drug interactions with antibiotics.
Another issue is marijuana impact on the immune system. In taking antibiotics to fight off an infection, the body has to do its part to get well. Early research suggests CBD may aid some antibiotics. But there is debate about how cannabis affects the immune system. Some research indicates marijuana may suppress the immune system, but there is also conflicting information suggesting it may make your immune system stronger and help it fight illness.
Ultimately, there don’t appear to be real risks associated with consuming marijuana while on antibiotics. If it a serious issue, always talk to your medical professional and monitor the situation. It is always a good idea to pay close attention to your body, noting adverse reactions and making changes if necessary.
With over 440,000 working in the cannabis industry, it overtook these groups – but is still way behind others.
Back in 2020, we predicted cannabis industry workers (as an industry) would overtake computer programmers. And, it happened. Currently there are 440,000 people working in weed, and 343,000 in computer programming. While a large amount of computer programmers work for marquee companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Apple and Stripe, most cannabis workers work for mom and pop businesses.
The economics of the marijuana industry is also positive as the jobs are spread out across the country and in different sized communities. Most tech jobs are in hubs including Atlanta, Austin, New York City and Seattle. Currently, the cannabis industry is at the mercy of DC and the Biden administration as it waits rescheduling. Overall, the federal government is the largest employer in the US with 2.95 million clocking in to make things run, which doesn’t always understand start up industries.

The cannabis industry is way behind the behemoths of retail and fast food. Their base is a mixture of big companies and small business in almost everyone community. There are 9.2 million workers employed as retail salespersons, cashiers or first-line supervisors and 4,717,192 workers in fast food taking and making your coffee, burger, taco and donuts.
According to some tech workers in Seattle, computer programmers have reached the apex of benefits during the pandemic and now are settling into to fewer perks like the rest of the work force. Still the average salary of programmer is $100K while in the cannabis industry, it is $47K. There is a significant difference in training and location, but the cannabis industry still provide a good number of jobs in country.
When it comes to numbers, the cannabis workforce is about the same size as Target (450K), Kroger (420K) and FedEX (480K). It is way smaller than Amazon (1.6 million) and Walmart (2.3 million). There are almost 1.9 million farmers and over 1.5 million realtors (members of the National Association of Realtors). And, in regards to jocks, there are a bit over 35K who work in all the professional sports in the United States.
While not the most popular form of ingestion, tinctures can be an easy and fun way to absorb weed or CBD…here is how to find the right one.
Flower, vapes and gummies are the most popular way to consume cannabis. But there are other ways to consume which fits the situation. A marijuana tincture is a concentrated liquid extract of the plant. There can beTHC or CBD oil tinctures. They can be used by placing the liquid directly on the tongue/in the mouth or it can be added to food. They can be fast acting and another way to consume without smoking. This can be especially beneficial for medical marijuana patients who have nausea and/or can not smoke.
Tinctures are made by soaking the bark, berries, leaves (dried or fresh), or roots from one or more plants in alcohol or vinegar. The alcohol or vinegar pulls out the active ingredients in the plant parts, concentrating them as a liquid. Selecting andbuying an oil tincture depends on many factors like how are you consuming. Other ones include:
THC or CBD?
1:1 ratio or different ratio?
Terpene enriched or not?
With flavor or without?
How many milligrams per dose?
Does the extraction method matter?
Do added ingredients matter?
Here are things to consider.
THC Tincture VS CBD Tincture
Generally, if shopping online, the CBD options will beCBD from hemp. THC in amounts more than 0.3%, are not allowed to be sold online because of legality. Hemp CBD is legal if THC is tested and is less than 0.3%.
If you are looking for a THC tincture, even the bestCBD tincture may not be right if a THC high is the goal. THC and CBD are both great but are very different. If in a legal cannabis state and looking for THC, you’ll find the bestoil tincture selection at a cannabis dispensary.
The same is true for someone who wants a CBD tincture. When shopping for THC free CBD, a full spectrum product will not be best. What’s best may be a broad-spectrum and/or isolate CBD tincture.
Cannabis Ratio’s
Cannabis ratios for oil tinctures look like: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and so on. These ratios generally tell how much CBD to THC is in the product. Here are examples of ratios you may find on oil tinctures:
1:1 — a balanced half and half of CBD and THC. Still psychoactive.
4:1 — More CBD than THC and considered a middle/mid. Less psychoactive.
8:1 — High CBD, low THC and considered the ratio for wanting virtually no high.
Someone may recommend a 1:1 product; however, if you want zero THC, that 1:1 will not be a good choice for you.
Generally, tinctures are available in different spectrums when CBD is the focus: full, broad, isolate, and nano. These spectrums determine the range of cannabinoids in the tincture:
Full Spectrum: Contain all of the compounds that the plant carries: the terpenes, essential oils, and cannabinoids- including THC.
Broad Spectrum: The “in between” option of isolate and full spectrums- Broad spectrum will have most of the plant’s compounds but in this spectrum, THC is removed.
Isolate: Known as the purest form it extracts a single compound and “isolates it” from the others. Isolate removes all other compounds leaving just the CBD cannabinoid.
Nano: The water-soluble option- meaning, it dissolves in water.
Terpene Enriched Oil Tinctures
Terpenes are the oil compounds responsible for the fragrance of the cannabis plant (and many other plants) as well as the flavors, effects, and colors. There are over 20,000 terpenes in existence. The cannabis plant produces about 100 of them.
Terpenes are important since they contribute to the impact each cannabinoid has on the body. Knowing the terpene profile within thecannabis oil tincture is an important consideration.
Here are a few popular terpenes and their said effects:
Linalool: pain reducer, anti-microbial, reduces anxiety, and lowers depression
Humulene: fights tumors, helps terminate cancer cells, antibacterial, anti-fungal
Oil Tinctures with Added Ingredients
Somecannabis oil tinctures are flavored, contain essential oils, and have added carrier agents. CBD in tincture is less potent than CBD oil. This is generally because of the other ingredients being added to enhance the flavor. Some of those ingredients include: herbs, sweeteners, vitamins, and carrier agent like MCT or coconut oil.
A little research will makes a huge difference when it comes to tinctures.
Spas are a $21+ billion in US and Canada not to mention all the home spa candles, music, etc. Everyone needs a little me time and it doesn’t take to much to covert a regular space to an escape from the anxiety of life. And what better way to relax than add a little marijuana-infused water to beautify and medicate.
Cannabis in water can make a difference both mentally and physical. Mental it can help you chill and relax and lose yourself in the moment of bliss. From a beauty view, it can help with moisturization and hydration. It is also a natural anti-inflammatory property calm skin irritation, redness, and inflammation. Cannabis also contains antioxidants to help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors.

First skin the cucumber, then blend into a juice using either a juicer, muddler or blonder. If you’re using a blender or muddler add water to help get the nutrients (and liquid) out.
Add a splash of hot water to some honey to turn it into a quick syrup. Once dissolved add cannabis tincture and mix well. Add cannabis honey syrup to a glass with ice. Pour cucumber juice over ice, add a splash of rosewater, close jar and shake. If you are adding other supplements, add before shaking phase.

Pour cold still or sparkling water over the mixture, garnish with strips you peeled off the cucumber and some slices with the skin on.

With the mainstreaming of marijuana, alcohol is taking a dip in use. Gen Z are embracing the trend of California sober and all generations are taking a second look at cannabis. The American Medical Association and the College of Physicians have recognized cannabis has medical benefits, and a significant portion of users are using it for anxiety and sleep. Microdosing has become a thing to help people manage stress, focus, and more.
But how people consume has evolved, so has how they have consumed. Traditionally, people smoke a joint, or a bong or bowl. Homemade edibles were popular, but not nearly as used as inhaling. With with legal marijuana, come reliable, flavorful products which have captured the public’s eye – and wallet. And gummies and vapes are discreet, on-the-go ways to consume with the added benefit of discretion. In data collected from BDSA, a leading analytical firm who covers cannabis, shared 49% of those who have used marijuana have used a gummy.
While both edibles and flower contain THC, the highs they produce are not exactly the same. Here are the key differences between gummies and joints.

THC
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. It is one of many compounds found in the resin secreted by glands of the marijuana plant. It acts much like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of the brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. THC attaches to these receptors and activates them and affects a person’s memory, pleasure, movements, thinking, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception, according to NIDA.
With over 50% of the population having access to legal dispensaries, the difficult guess from homemade treats are over. Retail purchased gummies usually have 10mg. Microdosing usually is 2.5-5 mg, so you might want to consider a half if you are a newbie.
Smoking can vary based on the strengthen of the flower and how much you inhale. Dispensary purchased pre-rolled joints usually give an idea of the strengthen, so pay attention to how you are feeling before you toke another time.

Timing
Inhaled marijuana takes goes straight to the blood via the lungs. It can take 1 to 15 minutes to kick in, peaking for an hour or so before the effects start to fade. The high can last 6 hours after use.
Edible cannabis has to be digested and metabolized via the stomach then to the liver, so it could take up to an hour to kick in and two hours for the high to peak. The high will fade over the next three hours can last 8-12 hours after use.
Timing, dosage and absorption can provide a different high, so the effects are personal to you. Edibles can sometimes induce a more intense, intoxicating high than smoking. But smoking can provide a longer high with the constant puff, puff, puff.
Trial and error help decide the best method for you.
Marijuana is a HUGE no for Olympics athletes – and for guests visiting Paris, it is also a French non (wink wink).
Like most sporting organizations, cannabis use, even for medical reasons, is a big no go for athletes. The Olympics are no exception. While the WADA guidance says they can use the cannabidiol (CBD), athletes are prohibited from consuming any natural or synthetic cannabinoids in the time leading up to a competition. US sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was dismissed from the Tokyo Olympics because she tested positive. So again, marijuana is a big non at the Paris Olympics. And it is still illegal in France, so for visitors, it is also a big French non (well – wink wink)
Like most major cites including London, Delhi, Tokyo, and Rome, just because it says on things on the books, doesn’t mean the local population adheres to what it says. The illegal black market is a vast multi-billion industry in most of Europe, most of South America and parts of Asia. Canada is fully legal and the US is a patchwork with both approved and illicit markets. While traveling aboard with marijuana on you can be spotty, in the country you can usually find it pretty easy. Just be careful and go with you gut on trusting people.
Cannabis use is illegal in France. But like it most countries, marijuana continues to a widely used drug for both recreational and medical reasons. It is not uncommon in the trendy Maris, at football stadiums or even on the famed Avenue des Champs-Élysées to catch a whiff. And with gummies and vapes, it has blended into the Paris scene with hardly anyone noticing or caring. It is reported the country’s population are among the largest consumers of cannabis worldwide. Possession of cannabis has been somewhat decriminalized in France, with minor offenders potentially being served with fines.
However, prison sentences of up to one year are still possible for people found in illegal possession of cannabis especially those looking to sell.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) technically has no problem with athletes legally having a few drinks. But of course, the focus is on performance, so drinks would come at the end of the games.
While there is reference to the original games in Ancient Greece, the ones we watch really started in 1896 in Athens and are overseen by the International Olympic Committee.
With almost 90% of the country believing it should be legal in some form, especially among younger voters – who is going to be the party make the goal?
The presidential race is heating up and both parties are grappling with changing demographics and a tight race. Also, there will be 41 million new Gen Z voters who will be able to participate in the election, and they see things different from boomers. One big issues is causing heartburn on at least one side….has marijuana become a political football?
Data shows between 85-89% of the country believe cannabis should be legal in some form. Florida went against their governor to force recreational marijuana to be on the ballot, and have raised $60 million to the Governor’s team which has raised less than $100,000. But the biggest issues is Gen Z, the generation who is drifting away from alcohol and toward weed. To them, it is like buying alcohol and they don’t understand why old politicians are so resistant to what has been proven to a medical aide. While it is behind voter concerns of the economy, public safety and democracy, it is still will play a role in influencing millions of votes. And the party who gets it across the goal line will be a hero.
The current administration has been slow to make a movement and only in the election year has significant progress been made. Following the recommendations of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Physicians (ACP) have used science to encourage the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to follow the process and reschedule cannabis to a Schedule III showing it has medical benefits and is classified like Ibuprofen. But the late start is hurting as the GOP is throwing up roadblocks as the public (by 90%) and the medical community has taken very public stances. The Biden administration may have waited too long to secure it before ballots drop. Vice President Harris, who was a vocal, strong adversary of legalization has revered course and embraced the rescheduling mantle and the potential benefits for patients, veterans and voters.
The Republicans are pulling out all stops to keep it from passing at all. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-KY), long a critic, has allowed votes to stop the process and allowed members to demand the DEA stop, slow, or delay the process. In a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra GOP members of the House expressed something fishy is going on for the process to move at the usual pace. Part of the change in policy the overwhelming support of the the major medical associations. The Republicans are pushing a policy which is clearly against the public desire, which is somewhat confusing if you want to win.
In addition, Florida Governor DeSantis, despite received donations from some in the industry, has taken a full frontal attack. Despite dropping out of the race, DeSantis still likes the spotlight. At a Florida Sheriff’s convention, he spoke on the subject of legal weed and was a bit loose on the facts, especially when it comes to the success is in Colorado. DeSantis has called voters confused and patiently explained his nanny state philosophy is best and has state the will of the voters should be set aside for his personal beliefs.
The voting public has been showing its will with their purchase power. Already Illionis, a key state, has sold over $1 billion in weed this year. The next 100 days will be critical for the cannabis industry and for rights of voters.

It does does with alcohol, but does marijuana effect women differently?
While we can put together people in general categories – men, women, Indian, left-handed, each person is slightly different…and some categories are different than others. So are women more sensitive to THC in cannabis? Reactions to alcohol is different between women and men, some South Asians are effected differently than North Americans with alcohol….so what about with cannabis?
Science shows biological differences in body structure and chemistry lead most women to absorb more alcohol and take longer to metabolize it. After drinking the same amount of alcohol, women tend to have higher blood alcohol levels than men, and the immediate effects of alcohol usually occur more quickly and last longer in women than men.
While more studies need to be done, current ones trend toward women being more sensitive to THC than men. Meaning they tend to have a bigger reaction to less. Very similar to alcohol.

One study, published in the journal Psychopharmacology found women who had consumed less of a cannabis, had lower levels of THC in blood, yet experienced the same acute effects as men. The key take-away is that women may need a lower dose of THC to get to the same degree of intoxication as men. Females tend to progress to tolerance and dependence faster than males after initiation of regular cannabis use.
One theory researchers posed is estrogen, a primarily female hormone, could influence the metabolism of THC. Levels of estrogen could account for the differences spotted in the study and for the reactions that women experience when consuming THC.
Most studies are based on male participants, so the data may not hold true in females.” Historically, subjects in animal and human studies. across all of science have been male. Researchers have claimed that it is too difficult to control for the fluctuating hormones in the female body. It is important for physicians and scientists to recognize past studies have excluded females, leaving our understanding of medicine with a bias towards men. With women representing 50% of the population, it is a critical data point.
After a rough few weeks, the political change might be a help to the cannabis industry
It has been a wild week when it comes to politics and the cannabis industry is holding its breath. The Biden administration made a promise during the 2020 election to move toward legalization, but didn’t move on it until late 2023, and no real action happened until 2024, a presidential election year. The administration finally asked to reclassify cannabis to Schedule III, similar to Ibuprofen. Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did they research and clearly stated it provides medical benefits. HHS and FDA back cannabis being but the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been more cautious. Now, it has been made clear physicians and the public back rescheduling in a major way.
In a show of support, the American College of Physicians issued a paper showing support of rescheduling and perhaps more. This follows support from the American Medical Association. And the DEA received significant feedback from the public during the public feedback session regarding rescheduling. The questions are will the DEA follow the medical community, the federal peers, and the public with officially rescheduling?

In July, the American College of Physicians issued a paper which serves as a statement regarding their view of cannabis moving forward. In support of rescheduling, the esteemed organization also encouraged more research, decriminalization for small personal amounts, among other things. With over half of Americans living in a state with legal adult use cannabis and three out of four Americans live in a state that has legalized cannabis for medical use, it makes sense.
The other big notice for the DEA is the feedback, is where the it sits with public opinion. More than 40,000 comments were submitted by various agencies, organizations, academics, and concerned citizens. An overwhelming 91% of comments were submitted in favor of the rescheduling proposal or making it legal under federal law, according to an analysis of the data conducted by Headset. The analysis found that among those supporting a change 56% advocated for complete descheduling of cannabis and 35% supported rescheduling to a less restrictive category.
Now, the decision is in the hands of the DEA, a federal agency which has shown major reluctance in supporting any type of loosening of marijuana restrictions. It will be on the administration to act.
Soldiers have returned with PTSD and other serious ailments. The AMA and science said medical marijuana can help – but time may be running out.
In an acknowledgement from the medical community, the American Medical Association supports the rescheduling of cannabis to a Schedule III because it has proven medical benefits. A portion of the medical benefits help soldiers returning from service with both physical and mental scars. Unfortunately, time may be running out to help.
Both Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did the research and agreed to the rescheduling. They are important organizations being clear it will help are military veterans. PTSD is real to the point of over 30,000 active duty personnel and veterans who have served in the military since 9/11 have committed suicide. That is the roughly the same amount of wiping out all of Fairbanks, Alaska. More veterans committed suicide, almost 100,000, after Vietnam, than in the war (roughly 58,000). Opioid addiction, which medical marijuana can combat, is raging among veterans with PTSD and chronic pain. But leaders like Mike Johnson (R-LA) have worked hard to block help.

While veteran facilities are federal property and therefore do not allow marijuana on premise, even in legal states, they have become supportive of medical marijuana. There have been significant treatment changes including:
Veterans will not be denied VA benefits because of marijuana use.
Veterans are encouraged to discuss marijuana use with their VA providers.
VA health care providers will record marijuana use in the Veteran’s VA medical record in order to have the information available in treatment planning. As with all clinical information, this is part of the confidential medical record and protected under patient privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations.
The clear case for medical marijuana has been proven by science, but with veterans, it is an important step to helping them in a return to civilian life. Representative Johnson has indicted with more control, marijuana could return to the outlaw status and the new GOP VP has stated he is not a fan of cannabis. The DEA must follow the recommendations and make a move quickly for this to happen and to help soldiers.
Bipartisan congressional lawmakers are seeking to remove a controversial section of a Johnson approved spending bill which would block the Justice Department from rescheduling marijuana.
