    Varun Dhawan is all set to charm the audience again with his upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, releasing in just two days. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions, the romantic comedy also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and others in key roles, According to Bollywood Hungama, the film has been cleared by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) with a U/A 13+ certificate. However, the board made a few edits before approval: 60% of the kissing scenes in the film have been cut. The word “guard” has been muted throughout. In one scene, Varun’s character says something derogatory and tries to cover it up by claiming he said “guard.” The makers were also asked to include an anti-alcohol warning in the film.

    As per the censor certificate, the film runs for 135.45 minutes, that’s 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 45 seconds.

    Varun’s Reaction on Clash With Kantara: Chapter

    Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will hit theatres on October 2, the same day as Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, setting up an interesting box office clash.

    When a fan asked Varun during a #Varunsays Q&A on X (formerly Twitter), “Kantara se darr nahi lag raha?” Varun replied simply with: “Release date toh production wale set karte hain. Hum apni film pe mehnat kar rahe hain aur logon ko hasane ki koshish. I hope on October 2nd, everyone is laughing, smiling, and celebrating.”

    The 2012 film Student of the Year has completed 12 years since its release today, October 19, 2024. Starring debutants Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles, it was Karan Johar’s first directorial without Shah Rukh Khan. In this piece, let’s throwback to the moment when the filmmaker revealed that SRK’s absence made him feel ‘empty’ during the shoot of the film.

    In an old interview with Zoom during the promotions of Student of the Year, Karan Johar was asked how he felt about the movie being his first one without Shah Rukh Khan in it. In response, Karan said that SRK was playing the ‘integral’ part of a producer on the film. The director further revealed that initially he was comparing his new actors Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra to King Khan.

    Karan stated, “Definitely in the beginning there was an empty feeling, and I found myself checking myself before I would say, ‘Oh Shah Rukh would do this, oh Shah Rukh would do it like this,’ till I realized how ridiculous that comparison is because it’s their first time film, and to load them with the pressure of not just anyone but possibly one of the best actors in the business is ridiculous.”

    However, Karan mentioned that the feeling went away after the first week of shooting and he got ‘absorbed’ into the lives of the debutants on set. He added that halfway through he began to believe that they were his SRK and Kajol.

    Earlier today, Karan Johar made a special post on the 12th anniversary of Student of the Year. He wrote, “Let’s start with…there’s something about ‘today’, something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was!”

    Student of the Year is a romantic comedy depicting the lives of students, their friendships, love, and competition. Directed by Karan Johar, it is produced by Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment. Kajol made a special appearance in the peppy track The Disco Song.

    While giving a house tour to team Pinkvilla, Anurag Kashyap showed his screening room which used to be his bedroom earlier and was also shown in the 2020 film AK vs AK. The filmmaker-actor’s room is full of stacked film DVDs and he mentioned that most of them are yet to be brought there because his house has recently gone through renovation.

    There’s a big screen along with a projector, and comfortable sofas where he says that visitors can sleep over too. As Anurag opens up about watching films with his team, actors, and filmmakers in the room, he adds how he saw his life’s biggest TV screen at Ranbir Kapoor‘s previous home. “I don’t know abhi uska naya ghar dekha nahi main uske purane ghar ki baat kar raha hoon. (I haven’t seen his new home, I am talking about the one where he lived earlier),” he said.

    The Bad Cop actor also recalled watching films like Manmarziyaan, Kennedy, and Haseen Dillruba in his screening room.

    During an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, he said that Ranbir is “one of the finest actors,” while expressing his joy in watching his performances. “I see every film of his. I think he is one of the finest actors. I am delighted to watch him,” he said.

The scene that talks about female sexual pleasure went viral and created huge controversy but also increased the popularity of Kiara manifolds. Somen Mishra who is the film producer and Head of Development at Dharma Productions has now opened up about how the scene increased the sales of sex toys.

    During an interview with AnuradhaSays YouTube channel, “That short film went viral for obvious reasons, but the most interesting thing that happened was, there is a site which sells adult toys and in their annual survey, they put out the duration which their sales increased– first was during COVID, second was Lust Stories. The sales increased by 50-55 percent because people were googling ‘Kiara Advani vibrator’, ‘Kiara Advani sex toys’.”

    Further adding how it was a big moment for him and he thought it would go in his CV, Somen said, “I thought, ok, we are bringing joy to people’s lives, especially women. They told us, ‘You don’t know what Lust Stories has done for our business.’ I thought, This is going in my CV!’ Because I never imagined that kind of an impact the film would have. Fashion gets affected (by films), I never imagined vibrators would too,”

    Lust Stories was one of the early originals of Netflix in India which was directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. The film featuring four different short stories had Radhika Apte, Bhumi Pednekar, Neil Bhoopala, Manisha Koirala, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, and Neha Dhupia playing pivotal roles among others.

    In the film depicting the life of singer Amar Singh Chamkila, often hailed as the Elvis Presley of Punjab, Parineeti Chopra takes on the role of his wife, Amarjot Kaur, who is also a singer. Both Diljit and Parineeti showcased their live singing talents for this movie, which is set in 1980s Punjab.

    During the trailer launch of the film on Thursday, Parineeti disclosed her unconventional audition experience over Zoom for the upcoming Netflix musical drama.

    She said, “Two years ago, I was on my way to Karan Johar’s birthday party when I got a call from Imtiaz Ali sir, asking if I was free. I thought it would be a quick chat, but he said Diljit, Rahman sir, and him are on a zoom call and he wanted me to join as well. I was in a traffic jam and I asked my driver to quickly park the car and asked everyone to be quiet, koi saans bhi na lega that quiet.”

    She added, “The four of us were on zoom call and I thought it would be an introductory hello-hi zoom call. Rahman sir asked me if I know how to sing and I told him I like singing. I thought it was a safe answer and then he told me, ‘Achcha sing and show me.’ I thought gayi picture ab haath se!”

    The actress expressed her apprehension, acknowledging AR Rahman‘s collaborations with some of the most brilliant artists globally. She feared that her singing in front of him might come across as a desperate plea to secure her role in Amar Singh Chamkila. However, she composed herself and decided to sing the only Punjabi song that came to mind at that moment: Duma Dum Mast Kalandar.

    Despite already being confirmed for the film, she described the audition as a musical one. She had assured Rahman that she would sing all the songs in the movie, including those of Amarjot Kaur and Chamkila’s original compositions, as well as Rahman’s. This commitment prompted Rahman to audition her.

    During the launch event, AR Rahman revealed that he had a four-day jamming session with Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra to craft the soundscape of the album. They recorded all the original tracks with the actors, aiming to preserve the purity of the music, which they executed brilliantly.

    Imtiaz Ali expressed his satisfaction with Parineeti’s casting, highlighting her as his top choice for the role. Despite his request for her to gain weight to fit the character, the Meri Pyaari Bindu actress was enthusiastic about the project. When they met, she revealed her long-standing desire to be part of a film where she could showcase her singing talent. Imtiaz was further delighted to find that she also resembled Amarjot Kaur.

    Amar Singh Chamkila portrays the journey of the singer who transcended poverty to become a renowned figure in the 1980s through his music. The film is set to premiere on April 12 on Netflix.

Sudha ji enthusiastically remarked, “In Hindi, I saw Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt… I like Alia Bhatt a lot. Rocky and Rani, I saw that.”

During a recent interview, KJo recalled how he became a part of DDLJ and shared the story of becoming friends with SRK at the sets.

    During a roundtable conversation on Galatta Plus, Karan Johar shared that he had not attended any film school even though his father produced films. He thanked Aditya Chopra who convinced him to be part of movies and hired him as an assistant director on Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Sharing how his first job was to look for a costume for Shah Rukh Khan from the boxes that contained costumes from late Sridevi starrer Chandni, the filmmaker recalled meeting SRK at the film set.

    In his meeting with Shah Rukh, Karan told him, “You should wear tight jeans, your body shape would look better in tighter jeans. You should show your Adam’s apple because girls think it is very attractive.” 

    To this, SRK reacted and called for Aditya Chopra. Recalling SRK’s words, KJo shared that the actor asked Aditya who he (Karan Johar) was and why was he telling him to show his Adam’s apple and wear tight jeans. 

    “Adi told him, ‘He is a townie, he knows all these things, so just listen to him.’ So, Shah Rukh wore that costume and I thought I had found my calling,” Karan recalled. 

    About Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge 

    Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge was released in 1995. Apart from SRK, the cast of the film also includes Kajol, Anupam Kher, Amrish Puri, and others. 

    The story follows Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran (Kajol) meet on a vacation through Europe and fall in love. When Raj discovers that Simran has already been promised to another man, he follows her to India to win her and her father over.

    Work-wise, King Khan gave us three back-to-back blockbusters in 2023 namely Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki.     Elaborating on it, the filmmaker said, “I’m sexuality shamed all the time. They talk to me about my sexuality, they talk to me about being a single parent, and they bring up my kids. Then they talk about my mother for not having raised me well enough to not take that decision right. I mean who the f*ck are you? There are times, I’m in fashion they are saying ‘You don’t have the body for it why you’re wearing this?’ They body-shame you. But at the end of the day, you have to develop the thickest skin.”

    On hearing this, Arjun responded, “These are the same people who want to take selfies with you, are dying to take photos with you.”

    Karan Johar’s directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, released in 1998, continues to be one of his most cherished films. Recently, the filmmaker shared an intriguing anecdote about the movie. During an interview with Film Companion, Karan revealed that he surprised his father Yash Johar and actor Shah Rukh Khan by swiftly shooting a pivotal scene where Rahul (played by Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (played by Kajol) reunite after eight years, without informing the actors that the camera was already rolling.

After the performance, when SRK asked about the take, Karan’s response, “No, we have already rolled,” left the actor astonished.

    This swift approach not only surprised King Khan but also caught the attention of Karan’s father, Yash Johar. Completing a scene intended for an entire day within a few hours, Yash Johar advised Karan to go home and rest, reassuring him that the work was done.

    The filmmaker had a similar encounter while filming his latest project, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. Praising the lead actors, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the Student Of The Tear director mentioned their exceptional conversational chemistry. According to KJo, Ranveer and Alia’s ability to give each other space when necessary and talk over each other when required showcased a remarkable synchronization between the two actors.

    Impressed by their on-screen chemistry, Karan opted for a single continuous shot for the scene where Rani explains to Rocky why they can’t marry, and Rocky responds with, “Handle with care, I am fragile.” Surprisingly, the scene, originally allocated for an entire day’s shoot, was completed by 1 pm.
