‘First and last ever purchase’: Arizona woman tries to exchange $1,200 Pandora bracelet. She says they ended up ‘stealing’ it

A TikToker has gone viral after accusing Pandora of “stealing” from her. The worst part? The item they “stole” was worth $1,200.

The user (@silksaguaro) said in the viral clip that she was “literally scammed” by the well-known jewelry chain after they failed to refund a $1,224.99 bracelet. She explained that her husband had bought a 14-karat gold version of the Pandora Moments Heart Closure Snake Chain Bracelet for Christmas. However, found that it was too small.

The very next day, @silksaguaro says she reached out to the store via online chat. They told her to either return the item in-store or use the provided return label to ship it back to them. However, the first roadblock came when she tried to return it in-store. She claims that the manager wouldn’t accept it because it would mess up their store numbers. This meant she had to ship the bracelet back.

The TikTok user did just that, but another red flag emerged: she didn’t get an email confirming the return. However, Pandora did quietly issue a $180 refund. In turn, @silksaguaro got in touch with Pandora. They told her that they received the charm she returned, there was just one problem: the TikToker never actually returned the charm (and showed it on camera). So she asked Pandora to investigate.

After much difficulty, including Pandora staff saying there were no phone supervisors available, @silksaguaro finally got hold of the supervisor. While they looked into it, @silksaguaro argued that they “basically did nothing,” and that there was no investigation.

In the video description, the TikToker added, “After hours on the phone, multiple calls and chats Pandora did absolutely nothing to correct their mistake. It’s pretty obviously my bracelet was stolen and processed as a lesser value item.”

The clip amassed 199,700 views.

Some commenters urged the TikToker to take action. “Please contact your state attorney general,” one suggested. “You can easily make a claim on their website. I promise, they’ll resolve it super fast.”

“Contact the BBB [Better Business Bureau] right away!” another advised. Other ideas floated around included getting a chargeback on the credit card and contacting an attorney.

But for many viewers, the user’s Pandora problems didn’t come as a surprise. “That is their line,” a third pointed out. “I’ve also ask for a supervisor and they always say none is available.”

While a fourth added, “Pandora online is insanely terribly, the amount of messed up orders is actually crazy.”

And a fifth noted, “This is shockingly not the first story like this I’ve heard. I’m certain that I saw someone else on TikTok with a very similar story.”

The TikToker later revealed in a follow-up video that she got an email from Pandora. This was after posting the first TikTok, and confirmed that they issued her the rest of the full refund.

Pandora refuses to honor ‘lifetime warranty’ on bracelet

By all accounts, Pandora has been a hot topic on TikTok for a while now. Back in June, TikToker and loyal Pandora customer @thebeststormeva went viral after sharing how her beloved Pandora bracelet was tarnished. This was after not taking it off during a trip to El Salvador, where she went into a clay mud spa.

Despite the bracelet having a so-called “lifetime warranty,” Pandora refused to replace it when she asked for an exchange. “I was told that it could not be replaced because I had had my bracelet longer than five years,” the TikToker explained. “Shouldn’t matter, right?”

To add insult to injury, the TikTok user said her other Pandora bracelet, which was also sterling silver, was also tarnished. Though it turns out that this is quite common for sterling silver bracelets.

Woman says Delaware car wash stole diamond engagement ring. Then they check the cameras: ‘This is my own fault’

A woman goes to the Delaware car wash she frequents and leaves three rings next to the driver’s seat. When she gets back in the car, she realizes her engagement ring is missing and goes on a hunt to figure out what happened.

In a video with over 168,000 views, TikToker Casey Corradin (@casecorradinn) tells viewers she considers leaving the engagement ring in the car “one of the worst mistakes” in her life. She explains that the car wash instructs drivers to get out of the car, so workers can clean the inside and outside of the vehicle.

She explains that she took her engagement ring off to apply hand sanitizer and lotion and didn’t put it back on before getting out of the car. However, she immediately realizes it’s gone when she gets the car back.

“The second I sit down, I realize my engagement ring is missing,” she says. “I had three rings to start. Two rings are still there. The most expensive ring with a diamond on it is not there anymore.”

She flags down a manager who tells her that she doesn’t know how to access the cameras, so she’ll have to come back the next day. But Corradinn is determined not to leave the car wash without her ring. When she threatens to call the cops, the manager takes a look at the cameras. According to the creator, the one camera that would have shown who was in the driver’s seat was broken.

Did she call the police?

The TikToker calls the police, who quickly come to the car wash to interview the workers and look through the facility to search for the ring. Unfortunately, they don’t find it, and she files a police report.

“The car wash has all of my information in case it magically shows up,” she continues. “But I have accepted the fact that it’s gone.”

Corradinn shares that her dad plans to go to every pawn shop in Delaware over the next week to search for her ring. Pawn shops are frequent stops for people selling their jewelry for cash. However, she may be able to get the ring back at no cost if they can prove it was stolen property.

“I 100% realize this is my own fault for leaving my ring in that situation. That is the part that is eating me alive,” she says.

Did the TikToker find her ring?

In a follow-up video, Corradinn shares that her dad made a poster with pictures of her engagement ring to share with local pawn shops to see if they can locate her ring.

Corradinn tells viewers that she hasn’t found her ring yet and has “accepted the fact that it’s gone.”

“I’m coming to terms with it. I really don’t think we’re going to get any luck at any pawn shops. But who knows? Crazier things have happened,” she remarks at the end of the clip.

How did viewers react?

While Corradinn partially blames herself for losing the engagement ring, many viewers assure her that it’s not her fault.

“God forbid you have your own belongings in YOUR OWN car??? this is not your fault at all and I’m so sorry this happened to you Case,” one writes.

Another says, “Don’t blame yourself! it was your car and your space, it should have been safe there. i’m sorry :(“

Others suggest that perhaps the ring wasn’t stolen after all, and suggest other reasons for the missing ring.

“They have high suction vacuums. This happened to a friend of mine and they found the ring in the vacuum they used,” a commenter suggests.

“Did they check the vacume? like maybe even the hose?” another asks.

A third offers, “Could it have fallen out of the car when you got out to switch with the worker driving? My SIL had that happen and it was found a week later by someone that saw the ring glisten in the dirt.”

The Story of Máxima of the Netherlands’ Mellerio Ruby Tiara

The jewels that form part of a royal collection are rarely the result of a purely aesthetic choice. Behind each commission there is usually a political context, a personal motif—an anniversary, a wedding, a birth—and often a very clear desire for permanence. The Mellerio ruby tiara worn today by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was not created as just another ornamental jewel, but as a piece designed to consolidate image, lineage and continuity within the House of Orange.

Commissioned in the late nineteenth century and used, since then, by all Dutch queens, this tiara has gone through more than a century of history without losing relevance. Its trajectory allows us to understand, in addition to the evolution of taste and protocol, the role that jewelry has played—and continues to play—in the representation of feminine power within European monarchies.

Mellerio dits Meller: the favorite family jeweler of the European court

When King William III entrusted the commission of a large set of rubies to Mellerio, the Parisian firm had been building a solid reputation among European elites for centuries. Founded in 1613, Mellerio dits Meller is one of the oldest active jewelry houses and a rare exception in a sector marked by constant closures, mergers and reinventions. Its uniqueness lies in having maintained uninterrupted family continuity and a recognizable aesthetic identity, even in times of profound historical change.

Long before arriving in the Netherlands, Mellerio had already consolidated its position as a reference jeweler for royalty. One of the most decisive chapters in that history was its relationship with French empress Eugénie de Montijo, who, according to the firm, visited the jeweler’s shop every week.

During the Second Empire, Eugenia made jewelry a central element of her public image and found in Mellerio an ally capable of translating power, sophistication and modernity in pieces of great visual impact. That alliance definitively placed the company on the map of the great European courts, long before the queens of the north became regular customers.

A commission with a legacy vocation

In December 1888, William III commissioned Mellerio to create a set of jewelry for his wife, Queen Emma. The result was a complete set of rubies and diamonds, the centerpiece of which was an elaborately designed and balanced tiara. The use of sapphires was initially considered, but rubies were finally chosen, a choice that provided greater visual strength and a symbolism associated with power, protection and dynastic continuity.

The tiara contains a total of 385 precious stones, including rubies and diamonds, and is part of a larger set that includes earrings, brooch, choker and bracelet. The stones were integrated into a structure of scrolls and clusters that combined movement and symmetry. The design, attributed to the jeweler Oscar Massin, reflected the technical mastery of the house and its ability to create pieces designed not only to impress, but to last.

Jewelry that adapts to royal life

The death of King William III just two years after the commission marked the first major turning point in the history of the tiara. During her period of mourning, Queen Emma adapted the jewel to the strict standards of the time by replacing the rubies with diamonds, a possibility foreseen since the original design. This versatility—unusual in pieces of such caliber—reveals a very modern conception of royal jewelry: not as an untouchable object, but as a living element, capable of accompanying different life stages.

Other pieces of the set were also transformed over time. Elements of the necklace were reused as brooches, and some gems were dismantled to facilitate different uses. Far from detracting from the ensemble, these adaptations reinforced its value, making it a tangible testimony to the personal history of its owners.

‘My bank did not give me my money back’: Florida woman deposits 2 checks from jewelry company. Then they ask her to Zelle them something back

Fake check scams remain one of the most common fraud tactics used against Americans, among many just like it.

In fact, in 2024 alone, the Federal Trade Commission reported $12.5 billion in losses tied to fraud. According to Bankrate, 34% of U.S. adults experienced some form of financial scam or fraud that same year.

One Florida TikToker says she learned that lesson the hard way after what she thought was an influencer opportunity turned out to be fraud.

In a TikTok video that has racked up more than 7,700 views, creator Melissa Nichole walks viewers through how a supposed jewelry brand contacted her was able to steal

What’s This ‘Influencer Scam That Involves Zelle?

“I feel like such a loser,” Melisa begins. “I was completely taken advantage [of].”

She explains that she had only started posting on TikTok about a month earlier, hoping to eventually make some extra income for her family. That’s when a jewelry brand reached out.

“They gave me all the compliments,” she says. “They told me they wanted me to promote their jewelry.”

She agrees, thinking it’s her first real opportunity. Shortly after, the company emails her two checks.

“I scanned them into my bank app, and it looked like it went through,” she explains.

Then came the scammer red flag. Her contact told her she needs to send money to a vendor so the jewelry can be shipped out.

“And guess what?” she says. “I sent it over Zelle like an [expletive] idiot.”

The checks never clear. “My bank did not give me my money back and said that I authorized this,” she claims.

She pauses before sharing the total. “I don’t even wanna say the number,” she admits. “I’m out $1,400.”

‘I Wanted to Believe’

The loss hits harder because of who she says scammers target.

She explains she was at work while filming the video and felt disoriented and distracted by what had just happened. Still, she chose to share the experience publicly as a warning.

“There was a part of me that knew it wasn’t right,” she admits. “But I wanted to believe.”

She says she won’t be responding to messages about the situation and plans to move forward more cautiously, trusting her instincts and verifying opportunities before agreeing to anything else.

“I won’t be responding to anybody,” she says. “I’m just going to make sure things are legit and trust my intuition.”

“I am so disgusted with myself,” she added in the caption. “The shame I feel right now is visceral.”

Can She Get Her Money Back from Zelle?

Once money is sent through Zelle, banks rarely reverse the transaction. That’s why consumer protection agencies stress reporting scams quickly, even if the money can’t be recovered.

The Federal Trade Commission urges victims of financial scams to file a report directly with them. These reports help track patterns and, in some cases, lead to broader enforcement actions.

If a fake check arrives by mail, victims can also contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. On the state level, attorneys general often handle consumer fraud complaints. In Florida, the office reports it has secured more than $565 million in total relief for residents, including over $426 million returned directly to consumers.

How to Protect Yourself from Fake Check Scams

Scams like this follow a familiar pattern, and spotting the warning signs early can prevent losses.

If someone sends you a check and asks you to send money back, whether through Zelle, wire transfer, gift cards, or cryptocurrency, it’s a scam. Once that money leaves your account, it’s usually gone for good.

Legitimate companies don’t ask people to pay up front to receive prizes or opportunities. If you’re told to cover shipping, vendor fees, or processing costs with your own money, walk away.

And if a check is for more than expected, that’s another red flag. Scammers count on urgency and confusion to push people into acting before verifying details.

Many viewers focused less on judging Melissa and more on reminding her that scams like this can happen to anyone. One person wrote that she shouldn’t beat herself up, adding, “Galdam girl. youre not an idiot. just learn that hard lesson. people are [expletive]. trust noone.”

“Forget it you learned the lesson I sent somebody $2000 in bitcoin once,” one commenter admitted. “This $2000 today will probably be worth about $20,000.”

“My mom fell for a group crypto scam and lost her entire retirement and a personal loan, and also owes the IRS like 40k,” shared a third. “Did I mention her only income is 1800 SS check and now she has to work a 15$ an hr under the table job…. Basically traveling the world half the year to being old working 15$ an hour and having debt payments of 1000$ a month…. So your not doing too bad.”

Several commenters echoed that sentiment, stressing that intelligence doesn’t make someone immune. “I don’t care who you are everyone has been scammed,” another person wrote. “I’m very intelligent and I’ve been scammed horribly for more than that. Don’t beat yourself up. All you can do is move forward now and learn.”

Last month, my friend Laura hosted a Dalí-themed dinner party at Main Projects, the gallery she owns with one-half of the Icy Gays duo, Eric Thomas Suwall. Between courses, an artist asked what kind of art I like, and I wasn’t sure whether he meant the art I like to see in museums, or put on walls, the art I like to experience, or simply like to think about. Whatever he meant, it didn’t matter because it was a question I have no interest answering—which I was polite about, of course. Defining art by style, medium, subject, school, technique, color or artist has always felt like a list-buiding exercise rather than providing another person with a greater understanding of who you are, which think is generally the purpose of any such question. I appreciate art that evokes an emotional response. It doesn’t need to be a fuzzy or inspiring feeling; art that makes me uncomfortable is often more compelling. With that, I’ll try to articulate how John Baldessari‘s Nose/Silhouette: Green, 2010, makes me feel and why I love it.

My eyes like following the irregularities in the circumference of the green blob encompassing the nose—a facial feature that, unlike eyes or smiles, no human in the history of the world has ever held responsible for being the cause of love at first sight. And yet that is what Baldessari forces us to see when we aren’t doing laps around a face we’re trying to imagine. Baldessari died on January 2, 2020, and I can’t help but wonder how the generation-defining pandemic that unfolded three months after he passed would have shaped later works, had he lived through it. Baldessari’s legacy is multilayered, but the part I return to the most is that his art pushed thinking about how the meaning of an image shifts depending on the context. The world didn’t see noses for nearly year after Baldessari died (give or take, depending on your politics), which may have made some of us realize how much a nose can tell you about a person.

It’s part of the Royal Collection, but further details are sparse. What, then, has made it so special to the queen?

From photos, it appears that Queen Camilla began wearing the mystery ring in February 2025. It didn’t take long for royal enthusiasts to take notice. In pictures, not much could be seen of the piece, but it seemed to be made of gold, with several small circles in the design. It was noted that Charles, too, wears a ring on his own left pinky. His is a signet ring, and has been a constant for more than 50 years.

The Royal Collection described the piece as “a gold ring composed of seven circular plaques, each engraved with ancient symbols, plain gold shield in front.” Other pieces in the collection have more information, such as the piece’s provenance. When experts zoomed in on image of the ring, they identified some symbols related to the tradition of ancient Greece, including a boat, a lyre, an amphora, as well as Greek letters.

Kendra Scott says she launched her billion-dollar business from her bedroom with just $500—when she was pregnant with her first son | Fortune

When Kendra Scott launched her jewelry business in 2002, she had no investors, no retail experience, and just $500 to her name. What she did have was a spare bedroom in her Austin, Texas home, a newborn baby, and the kind of determination that turns impossible odds into billion-dollar success stories.

“I built it out of my bedroom,” Scott said in a recent interview with The School of Hard Knocks, which has 5.6 million followers on TikTok. “Extra bedroom in my house, on a card table. 500 bucks, baby. That’s it.”

Scott designed her first jewelry collection while pregnant with her first son, hand-wiring each piece with semi-precious stones. For years, she made jewelry as gifts for her friends, but in the retail space, she’d always felt like there was expensive, or low-quality, but nothing in between. So she set out to make high-quality jewelry at accessible price points.

Just three months after giving birth, she put her first samples in a tea box, strapped her infant son into a baby carrier, and walked store to store through Austin, writing down orders from local boutiques.

“He was actually sitting on my lap and went to my first sales calls, going store to store with me. He was my little sales rep,” Scott said. “Babies do sell product, you know, babies and puppies. Bring them on your sales call. It works.”

The early days tested her resolve. At the last boutique she visited on that first sales trip, Scott had to sell all her original samples to buy enough materials to fulfill the orders she had just secured. She sold her car, took out personal loans, and funneled every dollar back into her fledgling business. As a single mother, rent negotiations with her landlord became routine.

“Failure wasn’t an option. I had to succeed,” Scott told Entrepreneur in 2015.

Scott told The School of Hard Knocks she had “a scary relationship” with debt. She said she put up everything she owned up as collateral in order to secure loans. “I knew that if I didn’t make those loan payments or if I didn’t sell the product, I was gonna get that loan called. And that meant I was gonna be B-R-O-K-E,” she said. But that pressure forged discipline. “It made me be a very disciplined business owner. Even today, with a billion-dollar brand, every single dollar we spent, I look at it and make sure it’s gonna work for us.”

Growth after crisis

The 2008 financial crisis nearly brought everything to a halt. Scott’s business had grown beyond Austin, with showrooms in Dallas and New York and partnerships with major department stores. But when the recession hit, wholesalers disappeared overnight and her bank called in a line of credit that would have drained the company. After countless rejections from other banks, she found a lifeline at a local Texas bank, where a female president looked beyond the numbers and saw Scott’s potential.

“She gave me the loan. She kept my business alive,” Scott wrote in an article for Thrive Global in 2019.

That crisis forced a pivot that would define the brand’s future. In 2010, despite having sworn off retail after a failed hat business years earlier, Scott opened her first jewelry store in Austin. It was a hit: Customers could touch and try on pieces freely rather than viewing them behind glass, and they could customize jewelry in real time, choosing from more than 50 styles and 30 stone colors, with pieces assembled on-site within minutes.

“It was unlike any jewelry shopping experience that had ever existed. It was like a nightclub,” Scott told Foundr in 2022.

Lines formed around the block. Revenue exploded from $1.7 million in 2010 to $24 million in 2013. By 2016, when Boston-based private equity firm Berkshire Partners acquired a minority stake in the company, Kendra Scott was valued at more than $1 billion. Scott remained the majority shareholder and CEO—one of only 16 women in the United States at the time to hold the title of founder of a billion-dollar company.

Tom Nolan, CEO of Kendra Scott Design, told Fortune earlier this year the company operates about 150 retail stores with plans to open 25 more by year’s end. The company generates several hundred million dollars in annual revenue, grew 20% year-over-year in 2024, and employs more than 2,600 people—over 95% of whom are women, according to Scott. The company has also expanded its product lines beyond jewelry into fine jewelry, home décor, beauty products, and a new Western-inspired lifestyle brand called Yellow Rose.

Advice for entrepreneurs

When asked about retail’s future, Scott was emphatic. “Oh, honey, retail is so alive. And brick-and-mortar is not dead. Four walls are a place where you build community and build brand awareness. We need human touch. It can’t just be digital, and you’re able to do that in brick-and-mortar. Build brick-and-mortar for experience first. Connection over transaction. The transaction will follow.”

The jewelry business margins, she noted, “are really good. They’re good margins.”

But her most important advice had nothing to do with business strategy. “Leave your fingerprint. You’ve got one chance at this life. Your life is a grain of sand. Make it matter, whatever you do in your life. You have a reason that you are here. You have a reason to affect people in a positive way. Figure out what that is. And if you can do that through business like I’m doing, awesome, but leave your mark.”

George Clooney Cheekily Compares Louvre Heist to His ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Trilogy

In the midst of promoting his new film Jay Kelly, due for release via Netflix on December 5, George Clooney was asked about the headline-making jewel heist at the Louvre museum last Sunday. Investigations continue into the reportedly seven-minute theft of a number of historic jewels snatched from the Apollon gallery at the opening of the institution, sparking a heated debate about the security measures and resources in place to protect these jewels of French history. Among them: a diamond bodice knot belonging to Empress Eugénie, an emerald set given by Napoleon to his second wife Marie-Louise, and a sapphire and diamond diadem worn by Queens Hortense, Marie-Amélie and Isabelle d’Orléans. Estimated loss: 88 million euros (or more than 102 million in U.S. dollars).

This almost implausible crime had all the trappings of a fantastical fictional tale, in the tradition of the great burglary stories that have permeated popular culture for decades. And who better to speak to the fictional parallels than Clooney? In Ocean’s Eleven (2002), he played Danny Ocean, a burglar just out of prison who assembles a crack team to pull off a new heist in a Las Vegas casino. After two sequels, a spin-off (Ocean’s Eight in 2018) and a future prequel starring Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie, Ocean’s Fourteen is still in the works. While walking the red carpet at Jay Kelly’s Los Angeles premiere on October 23, Clooney was asked if the Louvre Museum theft would be included in the script.

“We should rob the Louvre [in the film],” Clooney gamely replied when asked by Variety about incorporating the real-world heist into the next Ocean’s movie. “But somebody’s already done it, man, I don’t know. You know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna rob Adam Sandler,” Clooney joked, referring to his on-screen partner in writer-director Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly. Clooney plays an introspective movie star and Sandler, his devoted manager.

Clooney went on to say that the upcoming Ocean’s script is in “great shape” with only scheduling for the production to be determined. “I wonder if they’re gonna catch these guys,” he continued. “They seem to have done a pretty good job of getting away with it. It was cool. It’s terrible,” Clooney hastened to add, “but, if you’re a professional thief like I am, I was very proud of those guys…” he added with a grin. “In the middle of broad daylight, it’s crazy.”

Entertainment Tonight also asked Clooney about the Louvre robbery. “I’m the culprit,” laughed the actor. As for whether or not there could be a direct reference to the museum in the next Ocean’s movie, in which Robbie and Cooper will play Clooney ’s character’s parents, he replied, “They should use CGI [computer-generated imagery] and put us in that basket coming down from the Louvre.”
