  • Dakota Johnson Wore the Trend for Anyone Who Doesn’t Like Baggy or Skinny Jeans

Dakota Johnson Wore the Trend for Anyone Who Doesn’t Like Baggy or Skinny Jeans

    [ad_1]

If Dakota Johnson is your denim style muse, consider this your happy place. A place where you can get trend inspiration from the coolest of women. And her latest outfit could solve a denim predicament that you might be having. As you know, the denim trend cycle has been dominated by baggy jeans as of late. A stark alternative to that is skinny jeans, which aren’t trendy per se, but remain popular. (Watch a recent episode of The Bachelor if you don’t believe me.) If you don’t like either of these styles, my guess is that you want something in between. Enter Dakota Johnson.

You can always count on Johnson for cool, on-trend denim outfits, and earlier this week in Santa Monica, she wore a look that was no exception. Her outfit featured the denim trend that’s perfect for anyone who hates baggy and skinny jeans: wide-leg jeans. Johnson’s high-waisted, medium-blue style works with practically every type of shoe and is ideal for both day and night. This low-key style also never really goes out of style, so there’s that.

Scroll on to see how Johnson styled her wide-leg jeans (with a blue chore coat and black block-heel boots), and shop my personal favorite wide-leg jeans.

  • The Non-Skinny Jean Trend All the Fashion People Will Wear in 2023

The Non-Skinny Jean Trend All the Fashion People Will Wear in 2023

    [ad_1]

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve already established the demise of skinny jeans over the past few years. It’s hard not to see the shift—everywhere we look, denim outfits are getting more and more relaxed and because of it, non-skinny jeans are officially becoming the go-to style for fashion people everywhere. It’s just a pattern we’ve noticed, I promise we’re not purposefully hating on skinnies (if you love them do you!).

Okay, so you’re a fashion girl and you’re not reaching for skinny jeans on the daily. Well, what are you reaching for? My prediction for the rest of 2023 and beyond? Low-rise baggy jeans. I know what you’re thinking, there’s no way in hell that low-rise jeans will become my go-to pairs, but hear me out. This new wave of low rises aren’t the tight, hip-hugging kind that have us all emotional damage from the early aughts. Instead, they’re more of a low-slung fit. In other words, relaxed jeans that just happen to be baggy enough to sit low on your hips. They’ve bubbled for a minute but 2023 is the year this style will hit its stride, and trendsetting denim brands like Agolde and Re/Done are already behind some of the standout pairs defining the trend.

We went ahead and sourced the aforementioned pairs along with more of the best low-rise baggy jeans on the internet right now. You know, just in case you wanted to get in on things, too. Keep scrolling to shop all our favorites and glean inspiration on how to style them along the way.

  • 5 Pieces of Clothing That My Husband and I Both Think Are Sexy and Cool

5 Pieces of Clothing That My Husband and I Both Think Are Sexy and Cool

    [ad_1]

When it comes to fashion, my husband and I have relatively similar tastes. He’s pretty oblivious to the latest trends and pretty much sticks to timeless staples. I do the same but tend to lean a little more fashion-forward than he does. When it comes to what we deem sexy and cool clothing there are some definite pieces we can agree on.

In sussing this all out we came to realize that our top picks are primarily elevated basics with some quintessentially “sexy” pieces also in the mix. One of the first pieces we agreed on was a slip dress. The timeless dress style puts so many of one’s erogenous zones tastefully on display. Barely-there cardigan sweaters are another piece we love, which happen to currently be having a major moment. The trend is a bit cheeky and a lot of fun for date-night or an upcoming party.

Keep scrolling to peruse all 5 of our top sexy and cool picks—they may already all be in your closet.

  • Ready or Not, Skinny Jeans Are Coming Back and These 9 Outfits Prove It

Ready or Not, Skinny Jeans Are Coming Back and These 9 Outfits Prove It

    [ad_1]

Just like every other early 2000s trend, skinny jeans are due for a comeback. If you have any doubts, take a look at the Celine show that took place in L.A. in December. It was a whole skinny-jeans early-2000s vibe. The fact of the matter is that baggy jeans don’t feel quite as fresh as they used to and denim trends are incredibly cyclical, so this comeback was easy to predict. That said, people are only just starting to warm up to skinny jeans, so we’ll see what 2023 holds, but I have been seeing skinny jean outfits crop up on my Instagram feed and on some of the most influential celebrities as of late, so there’s that.

Below, I’ve highlighted some of the most memorable skinny jean outfits I’ve come across recently, as they might inspire you to get back on the skinny jean train early. I find that they’re simply the best option for certain boot styles, voluminous outerwear, and the Western-inspired pieces that are so very popular right now, so I, for one, am on board.

Scroll for chic skinny jean outfit inspiration and to shop the skinny jeans I love for 2023.

  • I’m Officially Anti-Baggy Jeans—5 Trends I’m Wearing Instead

    I’m Officially Anti-Baggy Jeans—5 Trends I’m Wearing Instead

    [ad_1]

First things first, I apologize for the hyperbole. Just like everyone else, I own more than a few pairs of baggy jeans at this point, which I’ll certainly still wear. But I’ve found that I’ve been reaching for them less and less as of late. I don’t find them to be the most flattering style of jeans I own and I’m growing a bit tired of the trend after seeing so much of it, so I’ve been experimenting with a few other trends that are just as cool.

I’d have to say that my go-to denim style is never not straight-leg jeans, and I’ve included them on this list, but there are a few other trends (both denim and not) that I suggest looking into if you’re also growing tired of baggy jeans. Scroll to see if they fit into your wardrobe and shop some of my personal favorite versions for each.

My Style Is Simple—These Are the Items I’m Wearing With Blue Jeans Right Now

    [ad_1]

When I describe my personal style, the word simple often comes to mind. Sure, I’ll really go for it with accessories from time to time (I love a statement bag or shoes), but for the most part, my day-to-day looks are pretty no-fuss. On that note, blue jeans are one of the staples I’m now wearing pretty much every week. And when it comes to the pieces I team with those trusty blues—yep, you guessed it—it’s the low-key items that reign supreme.

Below, I thought I’d share some of the easy items I’m currently wearing or plan on wearing with my denim. To highlight the picks in question, I’m showcasing myself and inspiring imagery from some of my favorite fashion people to mix it up. • I’m Picky, But These & Other Stories Jeans Have Seriously Impressed Me

I’m Picky, But These & Other Stories Jeans Have Seriously Impressed Me

    [ad_1]

As I wait for my own pair of Favourite jeans to arrive, I have a few initial observations to talk you through. This goes out to all mainstream brands: I’d love to see more size options when it comes to denim (and everything else, of course). Jeans from & Other Stories start at 24 and end at 32. Per the size guide, the 32 should fit someone between a UK 16 or 18. However, in my experience, owing to my curvy frame, I almost always have to size up. And I know many women are the same.

As for the aesthetic of & Other Stories’ jeans, honestly, I think they’re currently unrivalled. They look the authentic-vintage part, which is very difficult to achieve, and I know the cuts won’t date in a hurry (unlike those heavily frayed hems we all invested in in 2016). I can’t wait to start wearing mine with tan sandals and a white linen shirt for spring. If you’re looking to fall back in love with denim, scroll below to see and shop my picks from & Other Stories’ jeans department.

  • Olivia Wilde Wore the Latest Anti-Skinny-Jean Trend to Get Behind

Olivia Wilde Wore the Latest Anti-Skinny-Jean Trend to Get Behind

    [ad_1]

As far as celebrities go, Olivia Wilde is one that we always look to for denim inspiration. She wears jeans a lot—even on the red carpet from time to time. Flared, straight-leg, baggy, skinny—you name it and she’s worn it. But for a day out and about in Los Angeles earlier this week, Wilde wore a style that’s new for her, and it’s one that always comes back around: sailor jeans.

Sailor jeans are basically high-waisted jeans that are fitted at the top and wide-leg toward the bottom. They often have details such as patch pockets, double buttons, and trouser hems, and they can very easily be dressed up or down. Like skinny jeans, they often have stretch in the denim, so if that’s what you love about skinny jeans but are ready for a change, perhaps Wilde’s sailor jeans will inspire you to shop for a pair.

  • I Found 21 Fresh Ways to Wear the Denim Trend That’s Dominating—You’re Welcome

I Found 21 Fresh Ways to Wear the Denim Trend That’s Dominating—You’re Welcome

    [ad_1]

The next big non–skinny jeans trend is here, and it couldn’t be chicer. While skinny jeans will truly never die, nor do we want them to, we’ve spotted a number of emerging denim trends that are pretty much the antithesis of skinnies. We’ve already mentioned how flares and loose jeans are on the rise, and, well, we’re adding another of these non-skinny styles to the top of our lists: high-rise wide-leg jeans.

These are full-length jeans with a trouser-like wide leg and a high rise. We know that wide-leg jeans can be intimidating if you’re not used to wearing them already, which is why the high rise is crucial here. It hugs you in all the right places and creates some nice dimension for the overall silhouette. One standout pair defining the trend is the Citizens of Humanity Annina Jeans, a Who What Wear editor favorite.

To highlight this chic new denim trend, we rounded up the freshest wide-leg jeans outfits that fashion people are wearing now and included our favorite pairs to try out.

  • Olivia Rodrigo Wore the Chic Basic That Instantly Upgrades Skinny Jeans

Olivia Rodrigo Wore the Chic Basic That Instantly Upgrades Skinny Jeans

    [ad_1]

Gen Z queen Olivia Rodrigo just did the unthinkable and wore skinny jeans. (I apologize for the hyperbole.) It’s not something we’re used to seeing the Y2K-loving musician wear. But rumor has it that skinny jeans are coming back with a vengeance in 2023, so perhaps she’s getting a head start.

The outfit I’m referring to is one Rodrigo wore while out this week in NYC. She paired the aforementioned skinny jeans with a ribbed gray sweater and her go-to Converse Chuck Taylor high-tops. What took the outfit from cool to chic was the addition of a leather blazer, a trend that’s been percolating for several seasons now. Having polished basics that go with everything (like a leather blazer) is key because you can wear them with easy, casual pieces and look like you made an effort every single time.

  • This Is How Fashion Girls Will Be Wearing Denim in 2023, Period

This Is How Fashion Girls Will Be Wearing Denim in 2023, Period

    [ad_1]

These days, it seems like denim washes, fits, and rises cycle through periods of popularity every week rather than a decade. (Remember actual trend cycles? Me neither.) Because of that, reporting on such changes in the jeans space can, at times, feel repetitive. I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’ve chosen to focus my time and energy on the ways that chic people are wearing their jeans as opposed to the types of jeans they’re wearing. And in 2023, there’s one particular styling method that’s taking the fashion world by storm.

Canadian tuxedos aren’t exactly new, but then again, what is? Like everything else in fashion, the trend of wearing denim with denim has a tendency to return to the sartorial zeitgeist every few years, always with a fresh, modern look that makes us remember why we loved it so much the last time it was cool. And by the looks of my Instagram feed, 2023 is gearing up to be the latest year afflicted. Ahead, see how fashion girls are doubling up on denim in the early stages of the new year.

8 Cool Outfits That Make Me Want to Try 2023’s Controversial Denim Trend

    [ad_1]

Move over, skinny jeans—there’s a new denim trend in town arriving to divide the internet. Enter flared jeans, the ‘70s-inspired silhouette that’s taken over the runways and my heart and that’s already being worn by celebrities in anticipation of spring 2023. Although it’s still puffer-season weather in New York City, I’m starting to shuffle in my pair of floor-grazing denim I haven’t touched in months.

While relaxed-fit and wide-leg styles have been all the rage for the last few years thanks to the fashion crowd’s love of slouchy tailoring, flared jeans are the controversial look no one saw coming. Even though it seems like skinny jeans are firmly tucked away at the top of my closet shelf, the latest ultra-flared-denim trend reminds me to never say never when it comes to certain comebacks. It’s 2023—why not stir up a little bit of controversy with some hippie-inspired flares?

7 Anti–Skinny-Jean Outfit Formulas to Try in 2023

Over the holidays, if it wasn’t velvet or sparkly, I didn’t want it. But now that it’s January, that’s far from the case. All I want to wear these days is jeans (and sweatpants, but I’ll save that for another story). I have a hunch that I’m not alone in this and that you, too, may be looking for denim outfit ideas to add to your rotation this season and throughout the year.

As one does when they’re looking for fresh outfit ideas, I took to Instagram to see how people are styling jeans. Seven easy looks stood out to me, and none of them include skinny jeans. Instead, you’ll find outfits featuring wide-leg, straight, cargo, and baggy jeans. If any of those looser denim styles are your go-to’s, you’ve come to the right place.

We Called This Non–Skinny Jeans Trend Ages Ago, and Well, We Were Right

    [ad_1]

If you read Who What Wear on the reg, you know that we tend to make a lot of trend predictions. Based on what we saw coming down the runways, infiltrating Instagram, and landing at our favorite retailers, we called out the next big non–skinny jeans trend when it was first bubbling up. Well, that was at the start of last year, and if you cut to the present day, the denim trend in question—high-rise wide-leg jeans—has fully taken over the fashion scene.

I’ll just say it: We were right. If you don’t already know what we’re talking about, these full-length jeans are defined by a trouser-like wide leg and a waist-cinching high rise. We know that wide-leg jeans can be intimidating if you’re used to wearing more fitted styled (ahem, skinnies), which is why the high rise is crucial here. It hugs you in all the right places and creates some nice dimension for the overall silhouette. Some of the standout pairs defining the trend include the Citizens of Humanity Annina Jeans, a Who What Wear–editor favorite.

Stars, they’re just like us! Well, sort of. Actress Sadie Sink stepped out in a sensational pair of baggy jeans embroidered with pearls from top to bottom. Alright, so the jeans are by Givenchy and sell for over $4,000, but still, it’s a great casual look, right?

Paired with a white Givenchy top and bag, it’s clear that Sink is stepping into the style spotlight (and, in this particular outfit, her Today Show segment) with ease, thanks in part to help from her stylist Molly Dickson. Dickson, who also works with stars like Sydney Sweeney and Mindy Kaling, has a knack for putting together head-to-toe outfits that are both inspirational and aspirational. So, while we may not be grabbing Sink’s pretty pair of Givenchy jeans off the rack right away, we’ll definitely take some styling cues from this casual daytime look now that baggy jeans are officially back.
