  • Inside Sheridan Smith’s rollercoaster love life – tragic death of ‘dream man’; TV legend fling; one-night stand with reality star; split from baby dad

    [ad_1]

Sheridan Smith is a firm favourite on TV – but it’s fair to say she’s had a rather wild love life.

Since shooting to fame in the 2000s, Sheridan has remained booked and busy! The 44-year-old is back on screens today (August 31) for a new ITV drama, I Fought The Law.

Away from the TV shows and sets though, Sheridan’s romances and flings have often made the headlines over the years. Here, ED! is taking a look inside Sheridan’s love life…

    Sheridan Smith and James Corden

Sheridan dated James Corden for two years after meeting on the set of the TV series Fat Friends in 2002. The pair went on to play siblings Smithy and Rudi in Gavin and Stacey.

Their relationship started in 2007 but a year later they split. However, in 2009, James revealed he had rekindled things with Sheridan.

“Yes, Sheridan and I are back together and it’s going brilliantly, I couldn’t be happier. I want to marry my girl,” he declared at the time, as MailOnline reports.

Sadly, things didn’t work out as by 2009 the pair had split again, leaving James “heartbroken and lost.”

He told The Times: “I’d had a relationship with Sheridan which was heartbreaking, when you think something might work and it doesn’t. And I felt a bit lost.”

Sheridan’s one-night stand with Love Island star

In 2017, Love Island star Jordan ‘The Hulk’ Ring spoke about his passionate one-night stand with Sheridan.

The 6ft 4in hunk – who appeared on the ITV2 show in 2015 – claimed he slept with Sheridan during a visit to London after a night out.

“We kissed, then undressed — I called her stunning. She kept telling me I was drop-dead gorgeous and just her type,” he said of their night together to The Sun.

Jordan also added: “We started to kiss and undress each other – we had sex just the once. Sheridan wasn’t fully undressed and left her top on, so it gave the impression that she was a bit body conscious.

“I tried to reassure her by telling her she was stunning and not to be silly.”

    Graham Nation’s sad death

In 2017, Sheridan briefly dated stylist to the stars Graham Nation and the pair lived together at her home in London.

On social media, Sheridan previously declared Graham as her “dream man”. She added: “Look how fit my man is #punching.”

Following their split, a source claimed that Sheridan was left heartbroken after Graham moved out of her London home. A source told The Sun at the time: “There is no animosity and Graham is still there for her, but she feels quite lonely at the moment.”

However, tragically, in February this year, it was confirmed that Graham had suddenly died at the age of 39 after collapsing at a gym in Los Angeles.

At the time of his death, Graham was in a relationship with his partner Tonya, with whom he shared a six-month-old son Romeo.

Sheridan Smith shares a son with ex Jamie Horn

Sheridan struck up a romance in 2018 with insurance broker Jamie Horn after meeting on the dating app Tinder.

The pair fell head over heels as three months later they got engaged. What’s more, by October 2019, Sheridan announced she was pregnant. A year later, she welcomed their first child, Billy.

However, in August 2021, Sheridan and her fiancé Jamie split up and called off their engagement.

A joint statement at the time was released, which read: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart. The pair emphasised their commitment to co-parenting, adding: “We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together.”

Sheridan’s romance with Dave ‘Rocky’ Ryan ‘fizzled out’

Sheridan went on to date Dave ‘Rocky’ Ryan, a former boxer in 2023. During their relationship, Sheridan often shared loved-up snaps of the pair enjoying date nights and getaways.

However, by the end of 2024, Sheridan and Dave’s romance “fizzled out” and they called it quits. A source told The Sun at the time: “Sheridan decided to end things with Dave a few weeks ago after their romance fizzled out.”

The insider went on to claim that the split was amicable: “Thankfully her stage show has kept her busy and there is no bad blood after they ended on good terms.”

Watch Sheridan in I Fought The Law on Sunday (August 31) at 9:00pm on ITV1.

  • James Corden reveals thoughts on UK return after glam LA lifestyle – exactly one year after quitting talk show

James Corden reveals thoughts on UK return after glam LA lifestyle – exactly one year after quitting talk show

    [ad_1]

James Corden has opened up about his joy at moving back to the UK at the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, where he was awarded the Silver Heart award for Global Achievement in Broadcasting, Acting & Comedy.

The dad-of-three’s good friend and Gavin and Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones introduced him, calling him “one of the most generous, kind-hearted, supportive people I have ever met”. She added: “It’s my privilege to call him my dear friend.”

She also joked about the introduction to James, which included a highlight reel of his career, saying: “I wasn’t in that. I’m not being funny but I made him the man he is!”

Taking to the stage, James opened up about returning to the UK and leaving behind the LA lifestyle. He said: “I kept coming back to the notion that I will never be able to quite understand how lucky I am and I think about it a lot, and I’ve thought about it every day since I moved home.

“I went to America and lived there for eight years and over the last six or seven months at various school gates or high streets, people have said to me – it’s been [expletive] it down with rain – and almost every day someone’s said to me, ‘God I bet you’re glad you came back to this, aren’t you?’

“Without an ounce of irony or agenda I’ve been able to say, ‘I am over the moon to be here.’ I wish you could see it from a distance. I wish you could see it from a distance of being 13,000 miles away. I wish you could see the place you’re in, the city you’re in, the country you’re in, immensely flawed but astoundingly brilliant. I would urge you tomorrow and the rest of the week and right through to the election to really look around, look up every now and then, and see this extraordinary architecture and this extraordinary place.”

The 45-year-old continued: “A year ago yesterday my show ended and every day I’ve thought how lucky I am to have a friend like Ruth Jones who has carried me and supported me and nurtured me through countless moments in my life. How lucky am I to have a wife and children at home who have come on this adventure with me? How lucky am I to have gotten a start in a country with the BBC and National Theatre and government-funded arts? How lucky am I to stand here in a room with all of you and this extraordinarily talented group… Thank you very, very much. I appreciate it.”

Back in December 2022, James opened up about quitting his show on The Morning Show, saying: “The reason to leave is we’re a long way from home in Los Angeles. And there [are] people at home that are getting older, and we want our kids to know them and be around them.”

David Beckham looks back on the night he found out Lionel Messi had signed with Inter Miami CF and more during a new episode of “This Life of Mine with James Corden” — exclusively on SiriusXM’s Stars (Ch. 109) via the SiriusXM app and car radios.

David Beckham’s Memory: Lionel Messi Signing for Miami

David shared with James that he had been in bed in Japan when he received the phone call that Lionel “Leo” Messi was signing for Miami.

“We’d been talking to Leo’s father for a long time … Five years,” David said. “Me and my partner in Miami sneaked into a hotel to meet Leo’s dad five years prior to him signing for us. And we had a meeting with him, and I said, ‘Look, I know Leo’s not ready now, but I want your son to play for my club in the future.’ So, fast forward five years. We knew that month that there was a decision to be made, because Leo had announced that he was leaving PSG. So, four or five A.M. in Japan, and I’m in bed, and my phone keeps buzzing and buzzing and buzzing … I then see, ‘Leo Messi has decided to come to Miami.’ And I get goosebumps now. I sit up in my bed, and I start crying.”

  • Tom Ford on Leaving Fashion for Film: ‘It’s the Closest Thing to Being God That One Can Be’

Tom Ford on Leaving Fashion for Film: ‘It’s the Closest Thing to Being God That One Can Be’

    [ad_1]

“When I was very young, I thought I wanted to act, but I was too self conscious,” Tom Ford told James Corden. “So I’m much happier on the other side of the camera.”

Having sold his fashion empire to become a full-time filmmaker, Tom is the latest guest on This Life of Mine with James Corden, a new interview show exclusive to SiriusXM where guests pick the movies, music, possessions, memories, places, people, and more that made them who they are.

Tom Ford’s Defining Film: The Women (1939) directed by George Cukor

James Corden noted that Tom was the designer sought out by celebrities like Daniel Craig, who insisted on getting his 007 suits made by him; Michelle Obama, who wore one of his designs to meet the Queen of England; and Jay-Z, who titled a track in his honor. But Tom also directed and produced two Oscar-nominated films, A Single Man (2009) and Nocturnal Animals (2016).

During their conversation, Tom explained to James that, for him, fashion and film are both ways of telling a story — but after more than three decades in the fashion industry, he’s finished telling that story. He also appreciates the element of permanence filmmaking has that fashion doesn’t, calling directing “the closest thing to being god that one can be.”

Although his film A Single Man was based on the book of the same name, Tom said that he “grafted [his] own personality onto the character that Colin [Firth] plays, George,” and based Julianne Moore’s character, Charlotte, on his own grandmother.

“If anyone even ever needs to know anything about me or what I was like as a human being or what I cared about, watch that film, because everything about me is in that film,” Tom said of his directorial debut.

Tom Ford also discusses his childhood home in Santa Fe, moving as a teenager to New York City in the 1970s, meeting Andy Warhol at Studio 54, his favorite Bryan Ferry song, and his 35-year relationship with his late husband, Richard Buckley, in the latest episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).

Martin Scorsese Looks Back on ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ Scene in ‘Mean Streets’

    [ad_1]

“I think it reflects, for me, who we were at that time — who we thought we were, maybe, growing up in that area,” Martin Scorsese told James Corden of the 1968 Rolling Stones song he chose for Mean Streets.

Scorsese is the latest guest on This Life of Mine with James Corden, a new interview show exclusive to SiriusXM where guests pick the music, possessions, memories, places, people, and more that made them who they are.

On previous episodes, Jeremy Renner shared never-before-heard details of his near-death snow plow accident, Odell Beckham Jr. looked back on the one-handed catch that changed his life, and Kim Kardashian read a letter her father wrote her when she was 13.

Martin Scorsese’s Defining Song: “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”

Scorsese chose the Rolling Stones song “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” to share on This Life of Mine with James Corden — a song he used in his film Mean Streets (1973) starring Harvey Keitel and Robert De Niro.

“I think it reflects, for me, who we were at that time — who we thought we were, maybe, growing up in that area. You see it in Mean Streets. The song’s there, but you feel that swaggering, to a certain extent,” Scorsese told James. “A sense of danger, a great use of language … It’s being knocked around in life and making you stronger. But the most incredible rock ‘n’ roll you can imagine. That’s a very important piece.”

“Jumpin’ Jack Flash” plays in the film when the audience is first introduced to De Niro’s character, Johnny Boy, as he enters a bar with a woman on each arm. Scorsese’s runner-up song choice was “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes, also featured on Mean Streets.

When James asked Scorsese if he knows what song he’s going to use before he even starts a film, Scorsese said yes. He even had “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos playing on set when they shot the pink Cadillac and garbage truck scene in Goodfellas (1990).

“So that’s a picture you’ve painted long before you’ve ever stepped on that set,” James said.

“It all comes from the music,” Scorsese confirmed, “whether it’s the rock music of that period, whether it’s British rock like [Eric] Clapton and Cream and Derek and the Dominos or Blind Faith, even.”

Killers of the Flower Moon — the 2023 epic western crime drama based on the book of the same name that Scorsese co-wrote, produced, and directed — is nominated for 10 awards at the upcoming 96th Oscars, including Music (Original Score) and Best Picture.

Martin Scorsese talks about growing up in New York City, having a child at 56, his wife’s enduring strength, the contents of his briefcase, and more in the latest episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).

Kim Kardashian Reads Heartfelt Letter Her Father Wrote When She Was 13

    [ad_1]

“I haven’t read this in years,” Kim Kardashian told James Corden before she shared a letter her late father wrote to her in 1994.

Kim and James met up at Kim’s Calabasas, CA, office to record the third episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, the new interview show exclusive to SiriusXM where guests pick the possessions, memories, places, people, music, and more that made them who they are. On previous episodes, Jeremy Renner shared never-before-heard details of his near-death snow plow accident and Odell Beckham Jr. looked back on the one-handed catch that changed his life.

Kim Kardashian’s Defining Possession: Letter from her Father

The second oldest of Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s four children, Kim was 23 years old when her father passed away just two months after his esophageal cancer diagnosis. Although the short time span between his diagnosis and his death was hard to process in the moment, Kim explained to James that she’s mostly at peace with it now and continues to honor her father every day.

“Of course I wish he saw our life right now,” she said. “Of course I wish he was there to study with me and see my kids grow up and everything. But that’s not our reality, so I’m not going to get stuck in that place of what could’ve been but just be so grateful for what I have.”

The defining possession Kim chose to share during the episode was a letter Robert Kardashian wrote to her on May 25, 1994, nine years before his passing when Kim was finishing eighth grade and was about to begin high school — a letter Kim said she is “so f***ing lucky to have.”

She told James. “I haven’t read this in years. I was actually worried that I couldn’t find it … I have his cards, but this was like the only letter I have from him.”

It was typed on letterhead from Robert’s music company with the family’s old address, phone number, and fax number.

“Those numbers I remember, it’s so crazy,” Kim added before tearfully reading the letter out loud to James.

Kim Kardashian shares the full letter from her father and opens up about the house she grew up in, her parents’ divorce, what she’s looking for in her next romantic partner, and more in the latest episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).

Odell Beckham Jr. Remembers the One-Handed Catch That Changed His Life

    [ad_1]

“I love and I hate that moment,” Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) told James Corden of his famous one-handed catch for the Giants in a game against the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.

OBJ joined James for the second episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, the new interview show exclusive to SiriusXM where guests pick the memories, possessions, places, people, music, and more that made them who they are. On last week’s debut episode, Jeremy Renner shared never-before-heard details of his near-death snow plow accident.

“For me, in this environment, with you — my guy — I’m one thousand percent comfortable, which doesn’t happen often,” OBJ said of James.

OBJ’s Fondest Memory: Preparing for the NFL Since Age Four

“They amount that catch to my entire career.”

With two successful athletes for parents, OBJ was a naturally gifted athlete. He considered football his third sport after soccer and basketball. He shared with James that he never felt pressure to become a successful athlete growing up simply because he always knew he would be, in whichever sport he chose.

As a wide receiver, OBJ played three seasons for the LSU Tigers before being drafted into the NFL by the New York Giants his senior year. He played with the Giants from 2014–2018, and he was then traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he played from 2019–2021 while suffering a torn ACL in 2020. The Browns released him in November 2021, and he signed with the Los Angeles Rams for one year. In Super Bowl LVI, OBJ caught the first touchdown of the game for the Rams before leaving with another ACL tear. Following his injury, he signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, going on to appear in 14 games that season.

His unforgettable one-handed catch happened during his rookie NFL season. OBJ explained to James that he both loves and hates the moment because “people who probably are not necessarily happy with their lives and would rather focus on someone else’s life than their own — they amount that catch to my entire career.”

“You fell over as Odell, and you stood up as OBJ.”

During the first play of the second quarter, the Giants had the ball at the Cowboys’ 43 when OBJ, covered by cornerback Brandon Carr, caught a pass from quarterback Eli Manning at the five-yard line with only his right hand while falling backward into the end zone.

“I remember specifically we called a play, supposed to be an out-and-up route,” he recounted to James, remembering running to the sideline during a timeout to talk to coach Tom Coughlin, whom he begged not to change the play. “This was my opportunity to score a touchdown.”

Manning told the team not to rush it, OBJ said, but all he heard was “rush it.”

He continued, “And I run the out-and-up, and I run it just a little fast. I didn’t sell it, but I just was so in the moment … It felt like a moment of slow-mo. It felt like a moment of ‘this is that opportunity.’ And, for me, I’ve been practicing one-handed catches for so long. To me, it was only like, ‘Finally, I caught it one-handed.’ Like, I didn’t know that lightning struck. I didn’t know that my life would forever be changed. I didn’t know the magnitude of the moment.”

“It does feel like the second that ball lands in your hand … your entire life is before and after that moment,” James remarked. “You fell over as Odell, and you stood up as OBJ.”

His one-handed catch now lives forever as No. 16 on the NFL’s list of 100 Greatest Plays.

Odell Beckham Jr. shares more about his childhood, the most important person in his life, building his new house, life after football, and more in the full interview, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes of This Life of Mine with James Corden premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).

Jeremy Renner Details the Moments Leading up to and Following His Accident

    [ad_1]

On the debut episode of James Corden’s new exclusive interview show, This Life of Mine with James Corden — where guests pick the possessions, places, people, music, memories and more that made them who they are — special guest Jeremy Renner shared never-before-revealed details about his near-death accident on New Years Day 2023.

After choosing “titanium” for his defining possession, as the metal now makes up 15–20% of his body after the accident (“It will be with me forever. It’s like half of my ribs, right?” he said), Jeremy took James through the moments leading up to and immediately following the accident at his rural Nevada home, as well as his healing journey.

    Jeremy Renner’s Place: Lake Tahoe

Jeremy considers Nevada his “happy place,” even after the accident. He started skiing there as a kid and became really invested in the community as an adult, using it as his main residence for the past decade. He was no stranger to the extreme weather they experienced that New Years that led to his accident.

“We’re kind of locked down in a giant three-, four-day storm,” Jeremy recalled. “It happens often up there, but this was a pretty gnarly one. It was like snowmageddon. Everything was shut down. We were without power for two to three days. But we were all having fun. There was like 25 of us, celebrating post-Christmas into New Years. And New Year’s Eve was pretty snowy. And we finally got a break in the weather. And like 8-10 feet, I think, fell, and so we had to go kind of clear some snow.”

He continued, “This is a little bit more snow than typical. And then the power out — we’re kind of used to that. But, you know, going on the third day, it’s starting to get not fun. So when the sun came out, it was great. Everybody’s very, very happy. Everyone’s gonna get the kids skiing.

“There’s cars that they thought that could make it. They got stuck. Snowmobiles got stuck. So that really trapped us all in no matter what. So I had to get the snowcat,” he said. Specifically, a PistenBully snow groomer. “It’s super reliable because it floats a little bit more on the snow … It’s a big, big monstrous tank. And it’s super, super dependable for this kind of stuff. So I kept pulling all the things out of the way of the driveway ’cause they’re all stuck. So once I got almost all of those out of the way, I was gonna go then plow the driveway. But pulling the last truck out is where the accident happened.”

Jeremy then recounts exactly how the accident occurred and what he experienced, having never lost consciousness for more than a few minutes if at all while suffering from eight broken ribs, a broken eye socket, a collapsed lung, and more injuries. He actually credits his survival to remaining conscious and forcing himself to keep breathing.

    Why near-death felt “glorious”

“Recovery was like a one-way road,” he told James. “I wasn’t going to come back from death — which I thought was glorious, by the way … You know, having a near-death experience. I was probably gone on the ice for a minute, at least … I was there for 45 minutes, and I got pretty exhausted breathing. I started getting 18 beats per minute, was my heart rate, and that’s probably almost from death. And you kind of fade. I don’t know if it’s fading in consciousness or just fading out of, like, heart stoppage.”

But at that moment, Jeremy felt like “all life was grand.” He said, “All life just got better. Everything you know and you love and loved in your life is a two-way street now, and they’re there with you. It’s an energetic thing. There’s no time, place or space or color or anything. It’s just a known peace. And that peace was so glorious — I don’t know why ‘orgasmic’ pops into my head, because it’s not that stimulating. It’s just like a peaceful excitement, and it’s hard to express.”

He compared it to the “beautiful, exhilarating peace” of childhood feelings around Disneyland or Christmas.

“I saw light strands that sort of connected me visually,” he added. “There was a visual, it’s that. ‘Cause you’re just constantly connected, always, forever.”

He was never afraid of death, Jeremy explained, but after experiencing that, now he’s really not afraid.

In fact, he’s kind of excited for it.

Jeremy shares the life-defining movie he’s watched over 500 times, his most-cherished childhood memory with his father, the two people who’ve affected his life the most, and more in the full interview, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes of This Life of Mine with James Corden premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).

Comedian Taylor Tomlinson previews new “Have It All” stand-up tour

    07:15

The new late-night show “After Midnight,” hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 12:37 a.m. ET on CBS, the network announced on Thursday.

“With celebrated comedian Taylor Tomlinson at the helm and a panel of guests from the worlds of entertainment, comedy, music, and beyond, After Midnight is a late-night comedy series about what set the internet abuzz that day with a game show feel,” CBS said in a news release, calling it “the smartest show on television about the dumbest things on the internet.”

The late-night series, a new incarnation of Comedy Central’s “@midnight,” will fill the timeslot that previously featured “The Late Late Show” with James Corden

Corden taped his last episode in April after eight years and nearly 1,200 episodes as host.

Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” announced Tomlinson, an up-and-coming comedian, as the host back in November. Colbert also serves as an executive producer for the new show.

Los Angeles — With the final episode of “The Late Late Show With James Corden” airing Thursday night following a successful eight-year run, the British entertainer opened up about what has become one of the most iconic sketches in late night television history.

Corden kicked off “Carpool Karaoke” in March of 2015, and it was instantly a hit.

“I was like, ‘this is bulletproof, this will work as a segment, I know it will,’” Corden told CBS News.

The first episode, featuring Mariah Carey and Corden driving around Los Angeles, has garnered more than 36 million views on YouTube.

“Mariah Carey came out of the house and said to me, ‘I’m not singing today, I was up all night,’” Corden said. “And you can see me in the car, ‘like c’mon.’”

Corden said it was when he received a call from the White House that he knew it was working.

“Michelle Obama, you know, her team calling the office direct to say, ‘the first lady would really like to do a ‘Carpool Karaoke,’” Corden said. “And you’re like, ‘I guess this is working.’”

Corden’s 2016 sing-a-long with Adele has been viewed more than 260 million times on YouTube. And in 2018, he took “Carpool Karaoke” overseas to England, driving the streets of Liverpool with Sir Paul McCartney. The episode was emotional, with McCartney giving Corden a tour of his childhood home.

Speaking to “60 Minutes” in 2020, Corden described what he thinks was the key to “Carpool Karaoke” becoming such a hit.

“There is a common thread… All of these are about showing a human being inside this very, very famous person. That’s actually what it is,” Corden said at the time. “The core of it is the intimacy of the interview. That these are some of the most famous people on planet Earth. You know, the biggest singers in the world, and they’re in an environment which is completely humanizing.”

This week, Corden aired his final “Carpool Karaoke,” which, fittingly, was with Adele. This time though, Corden was finally riding shotgun.

Tom Cruise is also set to join Corden for a sketch.

K-pop super group, BLACKPINK will appeared on a new segment of Carpool Karaoke.

Ahead of the final episode, Corden’s popular segment will be celebrated with the one-hour primetime special, “The Last Last Late Show with James Corden Carpool Karaoke Special” at 10 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the final episode of the show.

Earlier this week, Corden was spotted filming a Carpool Karaoke with Adele.

ET recently spoke to the “Into the Woods” actor who teased what’s to come.

“My last guest is going to be huge pop star,” Corden told ET. “There’s some really fun things to come. Twelve shows, three Carpool Karaokes, last Crosswalk the Musical. A really big bit, with I think maybe the biggest movie star in the world.”

Corden said he could “cry his eyes out” thinking about the final shows. On top of that, the actor shared the mixed emotions he has experienced as he prepares to say goodbye.

“It’s such an exciting feeling and terrifying and it’s just excited and scared at the same time,” he said. “But I think that’s probably when the most exciting things happen. I haven’t been this scared since I decided to take the show and move to America to do it. And that’s been a life-changing experience.”

Gordon Ramsay Gets Ruder And Ruder Judging Super Bowl Snacks On ‘Late Late Show’

    [ad_1]

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles don’t hit as hard as Gordon Ramsay ― when it comes to judging Super Bowl snacks. (Watch the video below.)

The famous chef was tasked with reviewing big-game creations made by “The Late Late Show” staff on Thursday, and he didn’t hold back. Literally.

He repeatedly spit the samples onto the floor while adding nasty commentary.

A nearly retching Ramsay expelled “S&M” sausage and mozzarella stromboli (an homage to halftime singer Rihanna’s “S&M” song), Philly cheesteak puff pastries, tomato bisque and teriyaki meatball sliders. He said the sliders resembled his dog’s poop.

But the unkindest ― and funniest ― cut of all was aimed at associate producer Chanler Jackson’s vegan seven-layer dip.

“It looks like the inside of my granddad’s colostomy bag,” Ramsay sniped, getting big laughs out of host James Corden and the audience.

Yeah, he spit that out, too.

One dish actually got his approval: production coordinator Pedro Domit’s tahini tacos and guacamole with pomegranate.

James Corden Stops Comedy Bit To Bizarrely Vent About Sex Dolls

    [ad_1]

James Corden interrupted a “Late Late Show” bit Thursday to oddly riff on why he doesn’t “get” sex dolls. (Watch the video below.)

The host’s detour came in the midst of a segment called “Honest Headlines,” in which real news headlines are rewritten for greater comic effect. One story, titled “Sex Doll Washes Up On Beach Frightening Beach Goers,” was tweaked to say, “Lonely Metal Detector Enthusiast Has Prayers Answered.”

After delivering the punchline, Corden then seemed to go off script, insisting that he needed a minute to explain his distaste for blowups.

“I get a lot of stuff — sexually, I get it,” he said. “I’ve got a wide spectrum, and I’m like, ‘Sure, if you’re into it, rock on, buddy.’”

But, he added, “the purchasing of the sex doll is one thing I’ll never ever, ever understand. I’ll never be able to get my head around someone that’s like, ‘I think this is a good time.’”

Corden then improvised blowing up the doll and reiterated how “I’ll just never get it.”

  • Emily Blunt and James Corden can’t lead ‘The English’ and ‘Mammals’ out of the woods | CNN

Emily Blunt and James Corden can’t lead ‘The English’ and ‘Mammals’ out of the woods | CNN

    [ad_1]

    CNN
     —

It’s a streaming jungle out there, which might explain why Amazon offers up a couple of odd series featuring the stars of “Into the Woods” this weekend: “Mammals,” in which James Corden prepares for life beyond latenight, and “The English,” with Emily Blunt, which gives a lot of prestige British actors the chance to play cowboy.

Both run six episodes, with “The English” structured as a limited series, and “Mammals” paving the way for future seasons, while incorporating too many twists in its dramedy format to discuss much about what happens.

As for “The English,” Blunt’s Cornelia Locke, an English aristocrat, narrates the show by thinking back to 1890, when she was led on a mission of revenge in the American west by Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout who leaves the Army to pursue a land claim in Nebraska, before getting sidetracked along the way.

A man of few words, Eli speaks in terse tough-guy dialogue, saying things like, “I’ve seen Hell, and I’ve made Hell.” Yet he and Cornelia are brought together by a tragic event from the past, one that takes them across treacherous country and includes a lot of fine actors for relatively short periods, among them Ciaran Hinds, Toby Jones and Stephen Rea.

Created by Hugo Blick (“The Honourable Woman”), and counting Blunt among its producers, the series features gorgeous cloud-specked skies and sweeping horizons in what feels like an homage to John Ford westerns. But most of those elements (including the aforementioned dialogue) feel assembled in such a self-conscious and heavy handed way as to blunt the tribute, making it difficult to discern for whom this exercise is intended, other than creating a TV vehicle to bring Blunt’s marquee name to Amazon’s content-hungry shelves.

“Mammals” fares a bit better, with Corden’s Jamie and his wife Amandine (“Tyrant’s” Melia Kreiling) expecting a child and seemingly hopelessly in love when the series begins. When tragedy strikes, the ensuing grief gradually opens not only wounds but secrets, before flashing back to fill in gaps about how the two met, and why he might not be entirely inclined to trust her.

Series creator Jez Butterworth (whose writing credits include “Ford v. Ferrari”) incorporates lots of quirky moments, such as singer Tom Jones popping in as, um, Tom Jones. The supporting cast features Sally Hawkins, a classy addition to anything, as Jamie’s sister, although in this case playing a character whose arc feels highly peripheral to the central plot.

US audiences might not be completely familiar with Corden’s TV work (he starred in the well-regarded UK series “Gavin & Stacey”) before he became CBS’ later-night host, while continuing to dabble in musicals like “The Prom,” “Cats” and the aforementioned “Into the Woods.” “Mammals” gives him an opportunity to show off his acting chops, though the bigger revelation might be Kreiling, who more than holds her own.

While both series should help bring attention to Amazon Prime, neither completely works. “The English’s” main advantage is that it represents a relatively brief, closed-ended commitment, whereas “Mammals” (a poor title, incidentally) is a bit more enticing with its ruminations on dealing with loss and the vagaries of relationships.

Granted, when it comes to premium TV, attracting promotable stars can be half the battle, and Blunt and Corden fit the bill, with the latter recently contributing a fair amount of unintended publicity for his off-screen behavior as a restaurant patron.

That said, there’s probably not enough strictly on their respective merits to lead either of these Amazon shows through the jungle and out of the woods.

“Mammals” and “The English” premiere November 11 on Amazon Prime.
