“I haven’t read this in years,” Kim Kardashian told James Corden before she shared a letter her late father wrote to her in 1994.

Kim and James met up at Kim’s Calabasas, CA, office to record the third episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, the new interview show exclusive to SiriusXM where guests pick the possessions, memories, places, people, music, and more that made them who they are. On previous episodes, Jeremy Renner shared never-before-heard details of his near-death snow plow accident and Odell Beckham Jr. looked back on the one-handed catch that changed his life.

Kim Kardashian’s Defining Possession: Letter from her Father

The second oldest of Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s four children, Kim was 23 years old when her father passed away just two months after his esophageal cancer diagnosis. Although the short time span between his diagnosis and his death was hard to process in the moment, Kim explained to James that she’s mostly at peace with it now and continues to honor her father every day.

“Of course I wish he saw our life right now,” she said. “Of course I wish he was there to study with me and see my kids grow up and everything. But that’s not our reality, so I’m not going to get stuck in that place of what could’ve been but just be so grateful for what I have.”

The defining possession Kim chose to share during the episode was a letter Robert Kardashian wrote to her on May 25, 1994, nine years before his passing when Kim was finishing eighth grade and was about to begin high school — a letter Kim said she is “so f***ing lucky to have.”

She told James. “I haven’t read this in years. I was actually worried that I couldn’t find it … I have his cards, but this was like the only letter I have from him.”

It was typed on letterhead from Robert’s music company with the family’s old address, phone number, and fax number.

“Those numbers I remember, it’s so crazy,” Kim added before tearfully reading the letter out loud to James.

Kim Kardashian shares the full letter from her father and opens up about the house she grew up in, her parents’ divorce, what she’s looking for in her next romantic partner, and more in the latest episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, now available to stream on the SiriusXM app. New episodes premiere Thursdays at 5pm ET exclusively on Stars (Ch. 109).
