Tesla Cybertruck Torn To Pieces By Hose

    [ad_1]

HOLLISTER, CA—Its stainless steel panels immediately crumpling from the pressure of the stream of water, a Tesla Cybertruck was reportedly torn to pieces Friday after getting sprayed by a hose. As seen in the now-viral video shared across social media platforms, the 7,000-pound electric vehicle splintered into dozens of pieces under the onslaught of the $39.99 hose purchased from Lowe’s, each bead of water from the gardening implement puncturing holes in the truck’s body until the entire vehicle shuddered and collapsed into a pile of broken glass and shrapnel. In a statement, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk defended the build quality of the Cybertruck, blaming the damage on the hose being set to “jet” at the time of the incident. At press time, sources confirmed that the remaining, dripping-wet pieces of the vehicle pieces had burst into flames.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following the death of a man in Melbourne’s CBD on Friday night when a driver ploughed into pedestrians on Bourke Street.

The man, which the Herald Sunhas named the man as Zain Khan, is from Melton West, around 45km west of Melbourne.

Officers were called to Melbourne’s bustling Bourke St at the intersection with Russell St at about 6pm on Friday after a white Toyota Aurion sedan hit three pedestrians before T-boning a Hyundai and a Mazda CX-5.

Eerie footage shows Khan, dressed in all-white, sitting on the roof of the Toyota for several minutes before police officers pulled him down and arrested him.

Police said the man was possibly travelling at 60 to 70 km/hr before the deadly collision and may have accelerated after hitting the pedestrians.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 76-year-old man from Brunswick in Melbourne’s inner north, died at the scene.

Three pedestrians and the driver and passenger of the CX-5, all in their twenties and thirties, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, Victoria Police said the Melton West man had been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of intentionally cause serious injury and two counts of conduct endangering life.

18F-FDG PET/CT imaging 1 day after Alluminox treatment with ASP-1929 may serve as a potential indicator of treatment response

The oral presentation was given by Dr. Lindenberg of NCI, NIH, which is collaborating with Rakuten Medical to conduct ASP-1929-103, the Company’s very first study for operable cancer

Newswise — SAN DIEGOJune 30, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Rakuten Medical, Inc., a global biotechnology company developing and commercializing precision, cell targeting therapies based on its proprietary Alluminox™ platform, today announced that new interim evaluation data from the ASP-1929-103 study has been presented at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) 2023 Annual Meeting held from June 24 to 27.  ASP-1929-103 is a Phase 2, open-label, single-arm, window of opportunity study* of Alluminox treatment (photoimmunotherapy: PIT) using an antibody-dye conjugate ASP-1929 with fluorescence imaging (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT05182866) in patients with operable primary or recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) or cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cuSCC).

The oral presentation was given by Liza Lindenberg, M.D., of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), which has a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement to conduct ASP-1929-103 study. ASP-1929-103 is the very first clinical trial of Alluminox treatment in operable cancer. As part of this trial, early time point (1 day) 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging was investigated as a potential response indicator of Alluminox treatment.

The preliminary, descriptive imaging analysis based on interim evaluation of 6 patients in ASP-1929-103 study presented during the meeting showed that 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging demonstrates a therapeutic response 1 day after Alluminox treatment using ASP-1929.  PET/CT is an imaging modality for combined acquisition of positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) pictures. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) is the radiotracer used for this PET study.  Like glucose (sugar), 18F-FDG  is taken up by cells, particularly rapidly dividing cells such as cancer cells. Following uptake, 18F-FDG accumulates in the cytoplasm rather than undergoing further metabolism which results in signal amplification from labeled cells.

Key findings presented at SNMMI 2023
“Early 18F-FDG Response after Near-Infrared Photoimmunotherapy for Head and Neck and Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma” (Abstract: P50) presented by Liza Lindenberg, M.D., Molecular Imaging Branch, NCI, NIH

    –  18F FDG PET/CT demonstrates a therapeutic response 1 day after a single ASP-1929 PIT treatment
    –  Delayed 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging may decrease confounding inflammatory uptake on scans
    –  Pathologic tumor response may add complementary information to 18F-FDG PET/CT in PIT

Disclaimer: These early findings may change upon trial completion and final data analysis.

    ASP-1929-103 study overview
ASP-1929-103 is a Phase 2, open-label, single-arm, window of opportunity study* of Alluminox treatment (PIT) using an anti-EGFR antibody-dye conjugate, ASP-1929 with fluorescence imaging in patients with operable primary or recurrent HNSCC or cuSCC. The study, sponsored by Rakuten Medical in collaboration with NCI and Shimadzu Corporation (Shimadzu), will enroll 22 patients in the US to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a single Alluminox treatment using ASP-1929 administered prior to standard of care surgical tumor resection.  The feasibility of the Shimadzu fluorescence imaging system for real-time monitoring and recording of the fluorescence of the IRDye® 700DX portion of ASP-1929 will also be assessed.

    *  Window of opportunity study takes place in the period between a cancer diagnosis and the subsequent initiation of standard treatment, during which, the patient receives a non-standard drug or treatment of interest over a short period of time 1.2.

    About Rakuten Medical, Inc.
Rakuten Medical, Inc. is a global biotechnology company developing and commercializing precision, cell targeting therapies based on its proprietary Alluminox™ platform, which, in pre-clinical studies, has been shown to induce rapid and selective cell killing and tumor necrosis. Alluminox therapies have not yet been approved outside of Japan. Rakuten Medical is committed to its mission to conquer cancer by delivering our innovative treatments as quickly as possible to as many patients as possible all over the world. The company has offices in 6 countries, including the United States, where it is headquartered, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Switzerland and India. For more information, visit www.rakuten-med.com.

    About Alluminox™ platform
The Alluminox™ platform is an investigational technology platform based on a cancer therapy called photoimmunotherapy, which was developed by Dr. Hisataka Kobayashi and team from the National Cancer Institute in the United States. Rakuten Medical is developing the Alluminox platform as a technology consisting of a drug, device, and other related components. The drug component of the platform consists of a targeting moiety conjugated with one or more dyes leading to selective cell surface binding. The device component consists of a light source that locally illuminates the targeted cells with light to transiently activate the drug. Pre-clinical data have shown that this activation elicits rapid and selective necrosis of targeted cells through a biophysical process that compromises the membrane integrity of the targeted cells. Therapies developed on the Alluminox platform may also result in local and systemic innate and adaptive immune activation due to immunogenic cell death of the targeted cancer cells and/or the removal of targeted immunosuppressive cells within the tumor microenvironment. Outside of Japan, Alluminox therapies have not yet been approved by any regulatory authority.

    About ASP-1929
Rakuten Medical’s first pipeline drug developed on its Alluminox™ platform is ASP-1929, an antibody-dye conjugate comprised of the antibody cetuximab and IRDye® 700DX, a light activatable dye. ASP-1929 binds to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a cancer antigen expressed in multiple types of solid tumors, including head and neck, breast, lung, colorectal, prostate and pancreatic cancers. After binding to cancer cells, ASP-1929 is locally activated by   illumination with red light (690 nm), emitted by a laser device system to produce a photochemical reaction. This reaction is believed to cause damage to the membrane of cancer cells, leading to selective necrosis of cancer cells. ASP-1929 received Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January 2018, and is currently under investigation in a global Phase 3 clinical trial for recurrent head and neck cancer. In Japan, ASP-1929 received marketing approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare for unresectable locally advanced or recurrent head and neck cancer in September 2020, under the Sakigake Designation System and the Conditional Early Approval System. Outside of Japan, ASP-1929 has not yet been approved by any regulatory authority.

  • It Is June 2023 And EA Wants To Add NFTs To FIFA & Madden

It Is June 2023 And EA Wants To Add NFTs To FIFA & Madden

    [ad_1]

EA Sports and Nike announced yesterday that, at some point in the “future”, games like FIFA and Madden will feature integration with .Swoosh, which Nike describes as its “new digital community experience”.

What does that even mean? It’s an NFT (non-fungible token) platform, a crypto-adjacent scam that blew up in 2021 then crashed hard in 2022, a rise-and-fall that is perhaps best illustrated with this graphic:

    NFTs fuckin suck yo

Despite this, and a wider public reaction to the concept that landed somewhere between ambivalence and condemnation, there are still some companies willing to stick it out. Partly because they’ve got one eye on the future, and also maybe because they signed a bunch of contracts in 2021 and now have to see them through.

This deal in particular is described as:

Nike Virtual Studios and EA SPORTS are today announcing a new partnership aimed at enhancing and personalizing the virtual sports experience for fans all over the world. This collaboration brings together two of the biggest names in sport and entertainment and will lead to all new ways for members of .SWOOSH, Nike’s new digital community experience, and EA SPORTS fans to express their personal style through play.

What’s funniest about the announcement, perhaps, is that even Nike and EA are embarrassed by (or intentionally obfuscating, you pick!) the truth, which is why you won’t find mention of the term NFT in the news, or even a reference to Web3. Instead EA simply says the partnership will make “.SWOOSH virtual creations available allowing members and players unique new opportunities for self-expression and creativity through sport and style.”

EA Sports games offer that already, of course, sometimes in the form of free unlocks, others that you have to pay for using in-game (or real-world) currency.

Gorgeous Pokémon, Anime Sneakers Are Too Good For Nike

    [ad_1]

While Nike likes to dabble in the out-and-out nerd market sometimes, from Doraemon to Hello Kitty, for the most part the company likes to keep its collabs subtle, and has not worked with Nintendo for a long time. Meaning it will likely never officially release shoes this nice.

The sneakers you’re seeing in this gallery are all the work of artist Andrew Chiou, who has been doing the rounds on shoe blogs this week for his recent Pokémon work, but that stuff is just scratching the surface. Using Dunks and Jordans as his canvas, Chiou has painted (or at least designed) a ton of custom sneakers lately based on everything from Dragon Ball to Sailor Moon, sometimes for customers, and sometimes as one-offs for celebrities and athletes.

These are a pair of “What The” Super Mario concepts (“What The” sneakers are Nike’s special lines where designs get wild):

Here are some Pokémon ones he released earlier this week, featuring Scyther, Bulbasaur, Shiny Gyarados and Dragonite:

This is a pair of Sailor Moon concepts, again on a pair of Dunks, which with their retro styling and clean panel design makes them ideal to sketch out themes like this:

This pair of Dragon Ball Dunks, based on Vegeta, aren’t a mock-up, these have actually been painted up on a real pair:

I am in love with the colourway on these Snorlax Jordan IVs:

And finally, just to break up the monotony of Dunks and Jordan IVs, here’s a Venusaur mocked up over a pair of very lovely CDG x Nike ACG Mowabbs (scroll through to see the all-cream colourway of the original shoes, an all-timer for the silhouette):

If you want to see more of Chiou’s stuff, you can find more shoe designs—both mockups and actual custom sneaker paintjobs—at his Instagram page.

    [ad_1]

On the heels of winning the 2017 KellyOCG Preferred Supplier Award and the 2016 TAPFIN Premier Partner Award, Rangam Consultants, Inc. receives the 2017 Regional Subcontractor of the Year Award for Region II from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 2, 2017

Out of a nationwide pool of 10 competing subcontractors, it was Rangam Consultants, Inc. that won the 2017 Regional Subcontractor Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration — a federal agency protecting and advancing the interests of small businesses.

The Somerset, New Jersey-based staffing firm came out on top because of its superior technical and management capability, financial strength, customer interface, and the ability to deliver quality services and products on time and at a competitive cost to the U.S. government.

To be nominated by Sanofi, a well-respected and successful global life sciences company committed to improving access to healthcare, is a testament to not only the value a small business can deliver, but also the hard work and integrity of each and every Rangam employee that enables our company to consistently deliver quality services on a timely basis. Each of our employees shares a sense of commitment and pride in their work that contributes to the success we enjoy today and has put us in a position to be recognized as SBA’s 2017 Regional Subcontractor of the Year.

Hetal Parikh, President, Rangam Consultants, Inc.

Rangam has been efficiently meeting the staffing needs of both private and public sector organizations for years. The company has built a reputation as one of the top vendors in the area of MSP-driven contingent workforce solutions that continue to shape the current and future talent sourcing trends in the country.

“To be nominated by Sanofi, a well-respected and successful global life sciences company committed to improving access to healthcare, is a testament to not only the value a small business can deliver, but also the hard work and integrity of each and every Rangam employee that enables our company to consistently deliver quality services on a timely basis,” Rangam President Hetal Parikh said as she thanked Kathleen Castore, Head of Supplier Diversity & Sustainability North America Procurement for Sanofi, for nominating Rangam in the SBA program.

Hetal also thanked Al Titone, SBA New Jersey District Director, and Michael Cecere, SBA Procurement Center Representative, for acknowledging Rangam’s capability as a woman-owned small business. “Each of our employees shares a sense of commitment and pride in their work that contributes to the success we enjoy today and has put us in a position to be recognized as SBA’s 2017 Regional Subcontractor of the Year,” she said.

Notably, SBA acts as a bridge between woman-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses and the federal government, with the objective of procuring 23 percent of prime federal contracts for small businesses.

“This is a small business that has a rich history of specializing in providing its customers with staffing services,” Al Titone said. “Rangam Consultants, Inc. is a prime example why small businesses across the country are so vital to supplying the U.S. government with superior quality services and goods.”
