  • You Need Simone Biles’ Go-To Makeup Products

You Need Simone Biles’ Go-To Makeup Products

    [ad_1]

With the wrap up of the 2024 Paris Olympics, no more
Love Island USA, and last year’s Writers’ Strike finally catching up to us, there’s quite literally nothing left to watch on television these days. I’ve rewatched all the reality TV shows we know and love, I’m caught up on everything, and I’m fresh out of fresh content.

Which means I still have my eye on
the Olympics…because it hasn’t been that long, right? With the closing ceremonies on Sunday, August 11, it’s only been a few, endless days without a meme-able moment from our favorite world-class athletes.

And at the forefront of Olympic stardom is Team USA Gymnastics. Headed by one-of-one Simone Biles, the gymnastics team is generationally talented. They’re always a favorite to watch, especially when GOAT Biles is performing.

But it’s not just Biles who has stolen the world’s hearts…Olympic athletes like Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey are all beloved names. Let’s not forget Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade who rose into view as she killed her routines.

The women gymnasts are a marvel who have overcome countless hurdles (literally) to get here…so it’s no wonder why we’re thrilled by them. But there’s something else I noticed: their makeup is always flawless.

Being an athletic performer, you need a makeup routine that will keep your face in place regardless of what you’re doing…even if it’s excelling on the balance beam or during a vault routine.

And forget about Simone Biles’ iconic floor routine…I want to talk about her makeup routine. It looks like something that Patrick Ta crafted. And, thanks to the live coverage of the Olympics, we now have an idea of what magical potions Simone Biles uses to keep her makeup firmly in place…no matter what.

Fenty Invisi-Matte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder

    @mangomoniica Simone Biles touching up her olympic makeup ✨❤️ @Fenty Beauty @Rihanna #fentybeauty #fentybeautyinvisimatte #transluscentpowder ♬ original sound – Monica

What tipped me off immediately was a photo of Simone standing on the sideline before her routine using the Fenty Invisi-Matte powder. And while it most likely wasn’t a sponsored ad, the product placement couldn’t have been more efficacious.

Fenty Invisi-Matte powder went viral during
Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance, where she quickly flashed the product and went right on singing. It was an effortless ad, but effective nonetheless.

But beyond the celeb endorsements, the Invisi-Matte powder is terrific for on-the-go sweat control and keeping your makeup in place. One of my favorites for summer and vacation, the Fenty powder is compact and packs a punch.

Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks

    @westmanatelier Hello cheekbones! Undetectable contour 101 starring Face Trace with @maryphillips 💖 #westmanatelier #contour #maryphillips ♬ original sound – Westman-Atelier

Westman Atelier is worth the price, even if it is a titch pricier. It’s a beloved brand by makeup artists and professionals everywhere. With celeb MUA’s like Mary Phillips often using their stunning sticks.

Simone Biles is no different. Although she uses a lot of
Fenty products — including their foundation and mascara — she leans towards Westman when it comes to blush.

While Simone combines two of the shades for a customizable shade, every hue is packed with pigment and a light shimmer.

Pat McGrath Labs Mothership V: Bronze Seduction Eyeshadow Palette

    In her video with
Vogue, Biles gravitates towards this Pat McGrath palette riddled with bronzy shades that complement any eye color. I’ve tried hundreds of eyeshadow palettes over the span of my lifetime and I have to give Pat McGrath her flowers.

The formula is luxurious, the palette is pigmented, and there’s a good mix of matte and shimmer shades for customizable eyes. It’s everything you need in one palette, with shades that make for both daytime and nighttime looks.

I prefer Pat McGrath over most makeup brands despite the extra cost…we all know how frustrating it can be to spend money on an eyeshadow palette and then it barely shows — or stays — on your lid. Investing in a rich palette that’s backed by rave reviews is worth it.

Not One…Not Two..But Three Setting Sprays

    You
had to know that Simone Biles-Owens makeup was set in stone. After intense demand celebrity makeup artist Alayza Casey revealed Biles’ makeup routine…and to no one’s surprise, there’s a lot of setting spray involved.

Casey used three sprays on Biles’ face: the emblematic
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Spray, Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray, and Kryolan Fixing Spray.

Biles is doing a lot of movement and definitely breaking a sweat, so the makeup simply must stay in place…and instead of championing the setting powder, Casey opts for multiple long-lasting setting sprays that hold your makeup in place all day (no matter what.)

    Hourglass Airbrush Concealer

    @cleangirlhacks Flawless skin 101. #skincare101 #skintok#beautysecrets #selfcareroutine #cleangirl #cleangirlmakeup #haileybieber #clearskin #clearskincheck #clearskinroutine #clearskinhacks #antiaging #antiagingskincare ♬ original sound – Clean Girl Hacks

This is a fan favorite. Everyone who has used this concealer —
moi aussi — has fallen in love with it. I adore how creamy the formula is while still remaining dewy and hydrating.

It gives your under eyes the recharge and lift you need without catching up on all that sleep you’re missing out on. It’s high coverage and easily blendable, with minimal creasing throughout the application.

Seriously, one of the best concealers on the market. Hourglass gets it right every time.

Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 Automatic Lip Pencil

Huda Beauty is known for their lip products, and Casey loves to use the “Rich Brown” shade on Biles. These lip liners are no joke — locking in your lips all day long and never budging.

Yes, these liners withstand sit-down dinners, nights out grabbing drinks with your friends — even dabbing your lips with a napkin won’t budge your liner. It may sound too good to be true, but I’m not being paid to say this — promise.

The Huda Beauty lip products have been tested by millions of people who absolutely love it just the same…But if it’s good enough for Simone, it’s good enough for us.

  • She’s The Man!

    She’s The Man!

    [ad_1]

They’d say I hustled, put in the work

They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve

What I was wearing, if I was rude

Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves

    Taylor Swift, “The Man”

    When
Barbie premiered in July, women felt seen in the cinema — perhaps for the first time in a long time. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was more than a beginner’s feminist manifesto, but also a meditation on what it means to be both a woman and mother in today’s world. It was a gentle reminder that maybe we’re all just trying our best — and that our best is enough.

It also encouraged women celebrate each other more.
The Barbie effect had us all wearing pink, emulating Margot Robbie’s cowboy-chic style, and referring to men as our “Kens.” And with help from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, her friendship bracelets, and sense of community, women were winning. It’s the first year in history that women dominated the Billboard Hot 100 twice (thanks to Swift and her Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album). Like I said, it’s a good year to be a woman.

This celebration of women and our successes is long overdue, but the promising news is that it isn’t slowing down.
Barbie’s feminist wave has shifted how we are accepting ourselves (and others) as women.

So it’s no surprise that women are raking in awards this year too, dominating the Grammy nominations and more. We hail celebrities for all sorts of achievements: Patrick Dempsey is
People’s Sexiest Man Alive (deserved), Taylor Swift is the world leader (they literally projected her welcome onto Christ the Redeemer), and Austin Butler is Best Elvis (because somehow we have multiple).

And one of the buzziest celeb awards is run by
GQ (short for Gentlemen’s Quarterly), whose “Men Of The Year” award is a highlight of every fall/winter. Similar to TIME’s 100 list, GQ likes to celebrate those who have taken the world by storm annually.

This year, the recipient of the Man of the Year award is none other than
    Kim Kardashian…and they’re not wrong.

Kim has been taking her empire to new heights in 2023: building on the 2022 launch of her
SKKN-care line, breaking ground with Skims’ Men’s campaign, the Nipple Bra, and becoming the official partner of the NBA/WNBA, working on prison reform, filming The Kardashians on Hulu, starring alongside Emma Roberts in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story as Siobhan Corbyn, I could go on.

Calling someone “the man” has now become synonymous with “a winner.” Saying “you’re the man” is a sign of their success. And though this might have problematic roots, women are reclaiming the term — like the Taylor Swift song.
And in the grand scheme of things: Kim Kardashian is the man.

Some hard working men get the title alongside Kim in the
GQ issue. The other MOTY honorees include Jacob Elordi (AKA Elvis #2, who’s starring in blockbusters like Sofia Coppolla’s Priscilla and Saltburn alongside Barry Keoghan), Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin, designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford, and Travis Scott. But you have to admit that Kim hasn’t come up for air this year.

It’s right there for us to see in episodes of
The Kardashians: Kim flying from country to country for another event on her booked and busy schedule. She’s literally everywhere at once, officiating recently divorced Chris Appleton and Lukas Gage’s wedding, shooting countless magazine covers and promo shoots for her growing enterprise, opening a Skims popup here, and shooting an episode of AHS there.

Is there anything she can’t do?

Meet The Previous Recipients Of GQ’s Men of the Year

Kim Kardashian is one of the few women to grace the cover of
GQ’s Man of the Year edition. Technically dubbed “Tycoon of the Year”, acknowledging her business successes over the past few years (and for the gender neutrality of it all)- Kardashian joins a host of some of the most famous men in the world. Let’s take a look at the past five years:

    2022: Brendan Fraser, Andrew Garfield

2021: Lil Nas X, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tom Holland

2020: Megan Thee Stallion, George Clooney, Trevor Noah

2019: Jennifer Lopez, Tyler, The Creator, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino

2018: Michael B. Jordan, Henry Golding, Jonah Hill

Women are normally recognized during the Men of the Year ceremonies, as it is a celebration of all people who emulated pop culture that year…however, no year has celebrated women quite like 2023.

The Men of the Year Awards 2023 were held on November 15 at London’s Royal Opera House where cover stars like Jeremy Allen White, boygenius, and Kardashian were in attendance.

Other female recipients included Megan Thee Stallion and Rihanna, who have paved their own paths in both the music and fashion industry. Rihanna with her Savage x Fenty inclusive lingerie line and Fenty Beauty has been changing the makeup and underwear game for a while now. Megan Thee Stallion is coming off a high-profile trial that she won against Tory Lanez, under immense public scrutiny, has become a figure for mental health and domestic violence while still creating hit records.

It’s one of the most female-dominated
GQ events we’ve seen, which is a pattern. The GRAMMY Award nominations just rolled out with so many female artists nominated, you’d think it’s a record. In the top three categories, female acts make up seven out of eight nominees.

This year, women are the man. It’s an exciting, uplifting time where we get to celebrate with each other instead of tearing one another down. Kim K is just another example of the
    Barbie effect.

  • If You Have a Gamine Essence, These Tips Will Up Your Makeup Game

If You Have a Gamine Essence, These Tips Will Up Your Makeup Game

    [ad_1]

We caught up with beauty expert, makeup artist, and and entrepreneur Jenny Patinkin to get the scoop on the best makeup practices for individuals with gamine facial features. “Gamine facial features tend to be delicate, so overdoing contouring can give an almost sunken or hollow look,” says Patinkin. “If I do any contouring at all, it’s only a subtle wash done at the part of the cheekbone closest to the ears and not extended onto the face more than one to two inches and perhaps a little on the jawline to call attention to the V shape of the jawline.”

Instead, Patinkin prefers to focus on bringing a soft glow to the cheeks and a slightly contoured smoky eye to create a round, doe-eyed look with a sultry flair. “It’s important to use makeup brushes sized for more delicate features instead of very large ones that can over-apply products like bronzer or contour,” she tells us. Her tool of choice is her very own Sustainable Luxury Angled Multi-Blender Brush, which she uses to apply cheek products. With it, she’s able to control placement in addition to creating a beautiful soft blend with minimal effort.

“I know the temptation is to do a heavier brow with this look à la Audrey Hepburn, the ultimate gamine, but I would advise caution when it comes to squaring off the inner corner of the brow or using a very opaque color to fill in,” Patinkin explains. Both can look overly harsh in contrast to one’s more delicate features rather than complementing them as needed.

Now that you know how to give gamine facial features the attention they deserve with the help of Patinkin, keep reading to discover the 16 bronzers, blushes, contour sticks, and highlighters that will deliver a stunning makeup look every time.

  • It’s Never Too Early To Get A Sephora Holiday Set

It’s Never Too Early To Get A Sephora Holiday Set

    [ad_1]

Okay, I’ll admit it’s way too early to be thinking about Christmas…or is it? It’s almost October already, which is crazy to even think about. Before you know it, you’ll be making your gift lists and budgeting for the ones you love.

To mitigate some of that burden, it doesn’t hurt to get your shopping done early. Which is why brands start releasing their gift sets now so you can plan accordingly. But if you’re not in the mood to start shopping for others just yet, it’s a great excuse for you to sample best-selling products from makeup and beauty brands.

I’ve found some of my favorite go-to products by purchasing these sets for myself…it’s also the perfect time to stock up on your go-to’s because most brands release value sizes of their bestsellers as well. Essentially, it’s an opportunity to replenish your makeup bag and skincare cabinet at a discount.

We all deserve a little treat here and there, which is why I plan on getting more for less. However, not every set is the same. You can get scammed by these seemingly good deals. Some brands (and I won’t name names this time) include sample sizes or minis that actually aren’t worth your money at all.

  • Fenty Beauty: Just Another Celebrity Brand Or The Real Deal?

Fenty Beauty: Just Another Celebrity Brand Or The Real Deal?

    [ad_1]

We are all under the constant moral battle: is this makeup good or is it just a paid sponsorship? Is it a money grab by celebrities who have passionate fanbases willing to spend a bit of their paycheck for the name on the packaging? Or does it really work?

After constantly being surrounded by ads – whether they be blatant or disguised as Get Ready With Me TikTok’s – I have fallen victim as a consumer. I want makeup to make me feel as good as these TikTokers (or should I say budding actresses) claim they feel. I want to have the “wow” moment where the ring light accentuates my highlight and I’m rendered temporarily vision impaired.

And we know the disappointment once you open the product and realize that it cakes…or it’s not as pigmented as it looked online…or it doesn’t last through multiple meals and 100 degree heat as promised.

It’s a hard pill to swallow – maybe spending the extra money on those celebrity brands wasn’t worth it. I mean, not all of them can be winners. Unless you’re Rihanna.

It’s no secret that Fenty Beauty changed the makeup industry with the largest foundation shade range the world had ever seen. It forced other brands to follow suit, because no brand was as diversity inclusive as Fenty. There had to be a better shade for you in Fenty’s line because there were so many.

Fenty Beauty’s innovative product line is universally loved – with other celebrities like Madison Beer using the brand in their staple routines. During Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime performance, she quickly flashed the Invisi-Matte Powder which raked in millions of Google searches, selling out the product over multiple websites.

And with the success of Fenty Beauty came the birth of Fenty Skin, which is an affordable option for all things skincare. Once again, the products are innovative without minimizing the overall quality.

So if you’re asking yourself: is Fenty Beauty worth it? The short answer is yes. Hell yes.

After trying a wide range of their products, I rounded up my favorites. Let’s do a full face of Fenty.

    Fenty Face Bundle – $148

    Fenty Face Bundle

    Fenty Beauty

Easily the best bang for your buck on the Fenty website is the Fenty Face bundle, where you build a 4-piece kit for a full face of makeup. It includes the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, which pleasantly surprised me considering dewy-look foundations are all the rage right now. Combining the foundation with a glowy base gives the perfect, subtle amount of sheen without looking oily. It’s full coverage for acne, discoloration, and more, but wears comfortably throughout the day.

It also includes the classic Match Stix Contour Skinstick, which makes contouring seem easy to even beginner makeup users. You get your choice of the KillaWatt Freestyle Highlighter, which I chose Madison Beer’s rec – Moscow Mule/Ginger Binge- that can be used as a blush or highlight. And then to top off the kit, you get the iconic InvisiMatte Powder to keep in your purse or makeup bag.

Let’s Talk About Fenty’s Gloss Bomb

Fenty Gloss Bomb Heat in Glass Slipper

    Fenty Beauty

One of the bestselling Fenty makeup products is the Gloss Bomb, which is so popular that it now has multiple shades in Heat (the plumping version) and Ice (the cooling version). Their newest release is the clear, universal Glass Slipper shade in the Heat collection. It gives the perfect plump to your lips minus the Botox, and the clear shade is easy to throw on over any lipstick or by itself.

They are popular for a reason, my lips look hydrated immediately after applying it. The doe foot applicator is large, which is always a plus when applying.

Fat Water Pore-Refining Serum With Barbados Cherry

    Fenty Fat Water Serum

    Fenty Skin

With key ingredients like Barbados cherry, Niacinamide, Cactus Flower, and Japanese Raisin Tree, this toner will tighten all of your pores without stripping your face of necessary oils, just excess. I’ve been using this twice a day for two weeks and have noticed my dark spots and acne scarring starting to fade, and it gives a natural glow to the face without making me look (or feel) oily. I use it right before the Fat Water Essence and it’s made a huge difference.

    Fat Water Hydrating Milky Essence

    Fenty Fat Water Essence

    Fenty Skin

In tandem with the Fat Water Serum, this essence will give your dry skin some serious moisture. It’s meant to repair and protect your moisture barrier without feeling heavy like an oil. It soothes and calms irritated skin without stripping it of moisture and oil, and it is especially great for when you’re sunburnt in the summer. Meant for stressed skin, the Fat Water Essence will put your skin at ease.

The 20 Most Undetectable (Yet Effective) Concealers for Barely-There Makeup

    [ad_1]

“When I’m shopping for a concealer, I’m always looking for something lightweight, buildable, and hydrating! There is nothing that I hate more than a concealer that becomes cake-y and flakey by the end of the day,” shares freelance makeup artist and Kite Beauty representative, Morgan Leigh. “My favorite go to is Kite Beauty because their ingredients are beyond hydrating and buildable which is key! The packaging is also made for the on-the-go girls so it’s always easy to touch up or build coverage for a day to night look!” When applying concealer, Leigh likes to begin with an very moisturized canvas to ensure easy application of the concealer product.

For skin prep, Leigh’s go-to product is Merit’s Instant Glow Serum which uses skin-loving ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to quickly hydrate and visibly plump the skin; lending to a visibly brighter and smoother palette to start with. She then follows the serum with a moisturizer for easy concealer application that also remains glowy. After your skin is moisturized, Leigh recommends using a damp beauty blender for flawless application and the ability to build up your concealer’s coverage.

If you haven’t found your holy-grail concealer just yet and are still looking for a versatile lightweight formula, don’t worry! I’ve scoured the internet for some of the best ones out there. Below, you’ll fine a variety of concealers offering endless shade ranges, formulations depending on specific skin types, and different types of coverage.

  • The Coolest Mom In The Whole Wide World

The Coolest Mom In The Whole Wide World

    [ad_1]

A new generation of moms is emerging. A generation that was shaped by Amy Poehler in Mean Girls (2004) spreading the gospel of being a “cool mom.” A generation that’s been inundated by mommy influencers who make childbearing chic. A generation influenced by Rihanna’s belly-baring pregnancy outfits.

Oh, to be a mom at the dawn of Rihanna’s motherhood era. Rihanna’s pregnancy and subsequent second pregnancy have signaled the vibe shift. Riri and other celebs like EmRata, Megan Fox, and even Kylie Jenner prove that you don’t have to give up your personality, your playfulness, or your coolness to be a mom. In fact, being a mom makes you cooler.

Women are waiting longer to settle down and have kids — meaning we can discover our genuine personalities and live adult lives rather than becoming mothers and only mothers in our early 20s. And when you think about it, the mainstreaming of the empowered mom is a relatively recent phenomenon.

It’s only been 51 years since Title IX was passed. And it would have been 50 years since Roe v Wade this year … if it hadn’t been overturned in 2022. Harrowing. But the Pew Research Center reports that in 22 out of 250 metro areas, women under the age of 30 earn as much — or more — than their male counterparts. Though the pay gap persists, culture is moving forward as gender roles shift and archaic notions of who — and how to be — are slowly fading away.

Pop culture being the mirror of our shifting social norms, it’s no surprise that celebrity moms reflect how millennial mothers are changing the game.

Consider: Keke Palmer’s SNL hosting debut and simultaneous pregnancy announcement. And, of course, Rihanna’s casual and pregnant Super Bowl performance and BritishVogue cover — famously featuring her “pussy facing the world.” Basically, Rihanna is the blueprint for millennial moms — leading to a generation of cool moms. God bless the child(ren).

Yet despite all these shifting norms and progressive culture moments, patriarchy persists. According to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, in the United States, women performs an average 4.5 hours of unpaid work a day, compared to 2.8 hours for men daily.

Unpaid labor such as housework eats up far more than mere time. It’s a mental strain and added responsibility that impacts women’s mental health. According to the New York Times, “It’s not unpaid labor itself that is problematic, research has found. Rather, it’s all the baggage around it — whether it conflicts with someone’s other responsibilities, like paid work, and whether it’s what someone wants to be doing.” Apparently, women feel pressure to keep their homes clean and feel judged if they don’t. Men, are free of this invisible burden.

So, as we advance culturally, and move back-and-forth politically, the little things matter, too. Who does the housework? How they do it. After all, a millennial mom doesn’t have the time on her hands that a 1950s/Don’t Worry Darling housewife did. So housework has to be taken care of more rapidly and efficiently — yet done well enough to keep that visitor-ready home.

It’s no wonder that working moms have forged a fresh retail sector: elevated house and home care products. Made by moms, for moms, this emerging industry is making housework an elevated pursuit. You truly can romanticize anything. That’s right — with CleanTok booming and “That Girl” wannabes the-world-over posting videos of their daily reset routines. (Reader, that’s just an pretty way to say cleaning!) Women have attained the impossible: made unfair, unpaid labor into something that’s aesthetically pleasing.

According to Snipp, millennial moms prioritize brands that portray authenticity, meaningfulness, uniqueness, and innovation. They support brands that promote safety, healthiness, nutrition, and education. That’s why women-founded brands that are targeted to moms are so much cooler than anything else on the market. The girls that get it, really do get it.

Here are some of the must-have elevated cleaning essentials for the moms in your life.

    Being Frenshe

Made of natural ingredients, its home essentials include scents, sprays, and more versatile products that will fill your home in exquisite scents. This is what I now imagine as I watch her Architectural Digest video.

    JB Skrub

    Proudly Launch Collection

Another one for the kids, this babycare brand prioritizes ingredients that nourish babies with melanin-rich skin. This is your one-stop-shop for everything baby — no harsh chemicals or irritating ingredients included. • The World Revolves Around Rihanna

    The World Revolves Around Rihanna

    [ad_1]

On February 12, Rihanna took the stage for the first time since 2016 to perform at the highly coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show. Sporting a red jumpsuit and exposing her baby bump – the world’s best kept secret for the past few months – our Fenty queen quite literally emerged from the sky. Opening with her single “Bitch Betta Have My Money,” it didn’t take long for the world to understand that Rihanna is back.

Rumors began to swirl weeks prior to her Super Bowl performance: who would she bring out as a special guest? What would she wear? Where will A$AP Rocky fit into all of this? Will she finally reveal new music?

Some viewers expressed disappointment in the lack of movement from Rihanna herself. Since previous acts like Beyonce were known for elaborate dance numbers, people were wondering where all the pizazz was.

My answer? You try being suspended in mid air with no restraints or support, performing for a crowd of millions of television viewers, oh, and being
months pregnant. Even when she’s on the ground, how much movement do you need her to be doing? She’s. Pregnant.

She has famous collaborations with both Jay-Z and the defamed Kanye West on “Run This Town,” as well as Calvin Harris with “We Found Love.” And let us not forget the Drake saga with “What’s My Name” and “Work.” But Rihanna doesn’t necessarily
need anyone to come and guest star for her. She’s Rihanna: always the main event, no backup needed.

Rihanna will do what she wants, when she wants. And being that she is the undisputed ruler, we have to accept.

One of the more controversial tidbits of a Super Bowl Halftime performance show is that the artists don’t typically get
paid. While the NFL is a billion dollar industry, it does err on the side of strange that they can’t shell out a few million for their performers – especially when Rihanna garnered 118.7 million viewers – 5 million more than the actual game – and the second most watched Halftime performance ever.

The NFL argues that the performer gets more exposure, and thus sales. With such a huge platform like the Halftime Show, they aren’t necessarily wrong.

The world welcomed Rihanna back with open arms. Ever since the performance, she has skyrocketed back into popularity (not that she ever left), topping the charts with no new album or single.

Since then, Billboard reported Rihanna earned her biggest streaming week ever following the Super Bowl – up 150% with
166 million streams. She became the seventh act in the last 50 years to chart five albums in the top 50 on the Billboard 200 simultaneously, ANTI being in the top 10. She’s the sixth most-streamed artist globally on Spotify with 77 million monthly listeners.

Her Fenty Beauty brand has once again been selling out online after a quick flash of her
Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder during her set. Searches rose 833% following her performance. The impact of her performance was gargantuan: she became the number one most streamed artist, gained 3 million Instagram followers, and sold out products like her Plush Puddin’ Lip Mask. It earned Fenty $5 million in Media Impact Value alone.

She’s now the face of the most recent
British Vogue issue alongside A$AP Rocky and her son. Inside, she teases that not releasing music this year would be ridiculous. The question is, do we believe her? And are we ready to get hurt again?

I Asked 3 of the Most Photogenic People on IG What Products They Always Wear

    [ad_1]

Anyone who has ever tried to take a selfie (aka everyone) knows that there’s an art to it. First, you have to find your light—nothing too bright, nothing too low—then your angle, and don’t even get me started on camera resolution. But once you’ve figured out those key components, there is a way to get outside help, in the form of beauty products.

See, aside from the sheer je ne sais quoi of being photogenic, makeup, skincare and haircare products can sculpt features, tame flyaways, and otherwise add to your natural photo-readiness. From the best highlighters to catch the light to brow gels that keep hairs perfectly in place, certain secret weapons take photos to the next level. Don’t believe me? I asked three of the most photogenic people on Instagram—Sasha Mei, Sarennya Srimugayogam, and Who What Wear’s own beauty director, Erin Jahns—for the products that help them feel their best when they pull out that front-facing camera.

  • 16 Foundations ELLE Editors Won’t Shut Up About

16 Foundations ELLE Editors Won’t Shut Up About

    [ad_1]

    Astrid Stawiarz

Everyone has their “can’t-live-with0ut” makeup product. However, many can agree that foundation is perhaps the most important of them all. The best foundation makes subtle enhancements but still allows you to look and feel like yourself. Consider foundation the quarterback of your cosmetic bag; you can probably get by without it (try a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead), but everything goes (err, blends) a lot better when it’s added to the mix.

“When you build up your foundation, you’re creating a clean base for the rest of your glam. Without a base, powders may go on patchy or won’t last as long. To me, the foundation creates an even skin tone that helps the rest of your products look even better,” celebrity makeup artist Judi Gabbay tells ELLE.com. Our Beauty Director, Danielle James, looks to brands with an extensive shade range: “Foundation is so personable. There’s nothing worse than finding the right formula for you, only to discover it comes in only seven shades.”

Ask ELLE editors what their top foundation picks are, and they’ll spend a lifetime explaining why they prefer skin tints over full-coverage formulas, which base blurs their most stubborn skin concerns, or which formula provides the best long-lasting coverage for jam-packed vacations. ELLE editors keep the foundation market running, “no-makeup” makeup trends be damned.

However, we know you are busy and don’t have time to go on an endless hunt for the best foundations on the market, so we narrowed it down to 16. Whether you want a filter-like finish or a no-blemishes-left-behind full coverage option, shop ELLE’s favorite foundations below. Thank us later!

What should you look for in a foundation?

Knowing your skin well is key to finding the perfect foundation, as certain formulas can make or break your entire routine. Here’s what you should consider when shopping for your next foundation.

Shade Range – An extensive shade range makes it easier to find a shade close enough to your complexion. Understanding your undertone is especially important when looking at the shades because a good undertone match will provide a seamless makeup look. You can always ask a sales associate to help you match your undertone or refer to our guide.

Coverage – Depending on your preference, most foundations are broken into three coverage categories: light, medium, and full. Lighter consistencies are similar to skin tints and BB/CC creams; they are sheer and lightweight and enhance your skin, but don’t necessarily conceal blemishes or dark spots as well as fuller coverage foundations. Medium and full coverage formulas cover most (if not all) spots and hyperpigmentation.

Finish: There are many foundation finishes you can choose from, including matte, natural, or dewy. Dry skin should favor foundations with a natural or dewy finish, while oily skin should typically reach for matte/soft-matte formulas.

What is the best way to apply foundation?

To avoid a mess-free application, it’s always best to apply foundation with a brush. But certain formulas call for other tools. Light foundations can be applied with your fingers if you’re looking to subtly enhance your natural skin. For the thicker formulas, brushes and makeup sponges help to evenly coat your skin, and can be used to build up the coverage to your desired look.

Nerisha Penrose is the Beauty Commerce Editor at ELLE.com. Since joining ELLE.com in 2017, she has interviewed countless beauty professionals and has personally tested the latest and greatest foundations.

For this piece, she interviewed celebrity makeup artist Judi Gabbay and ELLE Editors for their favorite foundation picks.

  • I Want The 2022 Savage x Fenty Show Look

I Want The 2022 Savage x Fenty Show Look

    [ad_1]

It’s already been a busy year for Ri-Ri. With her new singles for the Wakanda Forever soundtrack releasing, an impending album, and a Super Bowl halftime show on the horizon, she’s non-stop. Following suit, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Show debuted on Amazon Prime last night and it was every bit as showstopping as you’d expect.

It’s not your traditional fashion show with models gliding down runways to a crowd of high-profile names in fashion; it’s a full on production. No crowd was involved whatsoever, but hundreds of models and big names in both the music, fashion, and film industries showed off the new Savage collection.

The show begins with the Fenty Queen herself, wordlessly summoning everyone to pay attention – the show has begun. In partnership with Amazon, every look was linked to the screen as they were shown, giving you instant access to purchase the Fenty set. Seamlessly transitioning from look to look, the beats change and the focus turns to a different model.

What perhaps tainted the night was the inclusion of Johnny Depp, whose addition struck controversy. It indeed begs the question, why include a controversial fallen star? It somehow overshadowed the entire event without even trying.

While the event is the antithesis of the old Victoria’s Secret wings and glitz, Rihanna’s spin was edgier and cinematic. You can view her new collection on the Savage x Fenty website, but for now, here are my faves:

    1. Lineup Pocket Legging
    2. Hotline Medium Impact Sports Bra
    3. Velvet Vixen Unlined Balconette Bra
    4. Going Platinum Long Robe
    5. Hotline Jumpsuit
