    On Sept. 17, Simone Rocha’s spring 2014 runway show debuted a collection of suspiciously familiar footwear bedazzled beyond all recognition: Crocs. The modest shoes — known primarily for their comfort and utter convenience — got a complete face-lift in honor of London Fashion Week, and we now need every single pair.

    While still maintaining the integrity of the traditional Crocs, the new collaboration added black and white crystallized rims, delicate flower embellishments, and massive pearl beads for extra glamour. Rocha (literally) took the shoes to the next level with chunky platform soles and translucent resin material, essentially sending models down the runway in designer flatform Crocs. The typically casual, comfortable walking shoes accompanied dreamy sheer slips dotted with bows and decorated with ribbon, borderline bridal dresses, and a bright red satin set, speaking to one of the most prominent color trends on this season’s runways. Designer Rocha even stepped out to take her bow in a pair herself, styling her Crocs with a matching black button-down dress.

    The flashy Crocs were impossible to miss, but they are already accustomed to the spotlight. Previously, the brand made headlines with Balenciaga’s polarizing heels, showing up again on the New York Fashion Week runway for Christian Cowan’s spring 2022 fashion show. They made yet another appearance at London Fashion Week in 2022 for Susan Fang’s debut show, complete with custom jibbitz and matte colorways.

    At their core, Crocs are reliable and functional, staying true to their roots at all costs. It’s perhaps this same unyielding authenticity that garnered the attention of so many fashion houses, including trendy brands like MSCHF and Benefit Cosmetics. “I’m not surprised that Crocs have been picked up by the fashion industry,” Lucy Thornley, Crocs’s VP of global trends, design, and product, told Vogue back in June 2022. “There’s something about our product — the shape and the form — that really lends itself to fashion. And it’s only going to continue.”

    Jordyn Woods turned Fashion Week into a family affair on Sept. 18. While attending the Chet Lo show in London, the model, her younger sister Jodie, and their mother Elizabeth Woods looked like triplets in a set of sheer outfits from the designer’s spring 2023 collection. Inspired by the skin of a durian fruit, each ensemble was covered in hundreds of miniature spikes that added some playful texture.

    Jordyn was the most vibrant of the trio in a tangerine cardigan and matching midi skirt. She layered the crop top over a white bralette, which paired beautifully with her pointed-toe pumps. The 25-year-old star completed the outfit with an oversize sunhat also adorned with the brand’s signature spiky design, hoop earrings, and sunglasses with gold frames.

    Jodie complemented her sister’s look in a Y2K-inspired outfit: a lavender quilted miniskirt, fingerless gloves, and a sheer turtleneck. Following the rule of thirds, she tied the outfit together with a pair of knee-high boots that reflected the same barbed pattern as her top. Elizabeth looked equally stunning in an asymmetrical evening gown with a single sleeve. Unlike her daughters, she opted for more comfortable footwear, styling the cerulean dress with pastel sneakers. Together, the trio looked like models in their own runway show.

    On Sept. 17, Jordyn and her family also wore coordinated looks while attending the MAC Cosmetics show at Fashion Week. JOrdyn served class in an ankle-length pencil skirt, black blazer, chrome accessories, and unique top crafted out of layered belts. Elizabeth mirrored her daughter in a leather maxi skirt with a knee-high zipper slit, a wrap top, a black blazer, and a baseball cap. Jodie brought the mother-daughter matching moment full circle in a leather co-ord set designed to mimic a dark denim wash. She styled the look with black pointed heels and a leather jacket, which she wore off her shoulders.

    Last Saturday, shortly before the white-walled galleries of Phillips auction house moonlighted as a runway, makeup artist Diane Kendal detailed the particulars of Proenza Schouler’s spring 2024 beauty direction. Surprises were not in store. “We’re doing a no-makeup makeup look, enhancing all the girls’ natural features,” she said, ticking through the lineup of Merit Beauty products at hand: Great Skin serum for a healthy radiance, Day Glow highlighter on the cheekbones, Clean Lash mascara applied just at the root of curled lashes. “The usual at Proenza,” she smiled—a vote of approval for designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, faithful stewards of their own good taste. “It’s very authentic to them.”

    More than two decades into the label’s run, the Proenza Schouler duo have honed in on an aesthetic driven by the kinds of women they want to celebrate. “You notice them before you notice their personal style,” McCollough says in a post-show call with Hernandez. They offer up a string of examples from their mood boards of late. “Amber Valletta back in the day. Patti Smith. Weyes Blood, who opened the show,” Hernandez says, referring to the musician who also supplied the runway score. Of course Chloë Sevigny, a recurring muse who walked last season; also Sade and “artists Jenny Holzer and even Louise Bourgeois—just these natural beauties, these intelligent women who have this undone quality to them,” McCollough adds.

Best of all, the package itself is by Proenza Schouler: a chic iteration of Merit’s knotted cosmetic bag, here in reversible black and cloud blue vegan leather.

    For Aila Morin, Merit’s founding senior VP of brand, growth, and innovation, partnering with Proenza Schouler was a meeting of the minds. “When we were concepting the brand in 2020, they were all over the mood boards,” she says over Zoom, her incandescent skin a testament to the brand’s serum—one of five products in the set. “Every time I was pulling references, I was really pulling their work. We have this shared sense of effortlessness and wearability that’s in the DNA of both brands.”

    The beauty company first began sponsoring Proenza Schouler’s shows in February 2022, seeding a kinship that gave rise to the Runway Set—a name that’s duly earned. Along with the serum, there’s the Clean Lash mascara, a formula that’s “really popular with makeup artists because it gives this feathery lifted look, but it’s not chunky and it also doesn’t kind of steal the show,” says Morin. She recalls how the bag design originally grew out of Merit’s aim for less waste: “Could you create something that people would actually reuse and not just toss out?” This two-tone vegan leather version, drawing on Merit’s signature blue, promises to have particular staying power. “It feels very Proenza, in a way,” says Hernandez. “Easy, effortless.”

    Vogue World: London was not ready for Winnie Harlow. As dozens of celebrities said farewell to New York Fashion Week on Sept. 14, Harlow was 3,500 miles away in quite the party dress. With a backless silhouette and boob-window cutout, the fuzzy dress, designed by Cult Naked, was covered in technicolor fringe that shimmered as she strutted past the paparazzi in her translucent Barbie-foot heels.

    Harlow, who recently debuted a new pixie cut, looked incredible as she hit the party with a chrome handbag on her arm. The model’s see-through shoes featured bedazzled ankle straps that glistened from every angle and beautifully complemented her dress. Playing with texture, the fuzzy outfit boasted layers of multi-hued fringe in shades of blue, purple, and pink.

    From the front, the halter-neck dress called attention to the bodice with a massive boob-window cutout in the shape of a teardrop. From behind, a set of criss-crossed black straps held the revealing ensemble in place. Harlow kept the sparkling theme going with a set of diamond drop earrings and a matching statement ring.

    Earlier in the day, Harlow arrived at the event in a low-cut evening gown from Zuhair Murad’s fall 2023 couture collection. In contrast to the all-black silhouette, the design featured a voluminous, cape-like collar that doubled as a train on the red carpet. She styled the stunning, couture gown with silver jewelry and velvet evening gloves. Paired with her second look of the night, it’s clear that Harlow was living the best of both worlds.

    Even as cooler weather approaches, Harlow is among many celebrities who continue to nail the cutout trend regardless of the occasion. Other stars who have incorporated cutouts into their wardrobe recently include Issa Rae in a boob-window cutout design at the “Barbie” premiere in July and Brie Larson in a romantic, ab-window slip dress by Rodarte. Celebrities like Heidi Klum and Lori Harvey have also gotten creative with hip cutouts on the red carpet, while Bebe Rexha recently took it a step further with purposefully placed butt cutouts at the MTV VMAs.

    Those who attend fashion week know this to be all too true: The days are long, but the week still seems to fly by in a split second. Now that New York Fashion Week has come to an official close, what better way to dish on everything that happened than through the lens of our very own editors? Throughout the past seven days, we saw a stunning array of spring 2024 collections, but despite the clothing that was the week’s primary objective, our team also indulged in a lot of incredible meals, took approximately 100 Uber, train, and bus rides, and, of course, wore plenty of trend-forward outfits throughout it all. 

    The week had us all up and down the isle of Manhattan and even over the river into Brooklyn and Roosevelt Island.     Feathers, sequins, gems, prints: Falguni Shane Peacock is known for bringing glamour and opulence to the global fashion space with Indian craftsmanship and contemporary silhouettes. Their New York Fashion Week Spring 2024 show combined those house codes with a quintessential New York City flair, thanks to creative direction by image architect Law Roach. In collaboration with Roach, the husband-and-wife design duo was excited to make their grand return to NYFW after 8 years, with Shane Peacock previously telling POPSUGAR, “When we left off, the passion was at a very different level; it was still a delicate, couture kind of a vibe. Showing at New York Fashion Week today, it’s more street.” It’s with that vision in mind that the Peacocks brought on Law Roach to creative direct their “2.0” Spring 2024 collection.

    The designers, who count Priyanka Chopra and Sarah Jessica Parker as fans, saw Roach as a perfect fit. “As a brand, we’re very rebellious, we’re luxury, we’re young, and I think that goes with Law,” Shane Peacock told POPSUGAR after the show. “He has a great sense of style, great sense of creative direction, and that’s what we needed for the brand.” Falguni Peacock also raved about Law’s singular sense of style, explaining: “We wanted to have couture meet street, and he just had the right vision for it.”

    Roach found the creative director role invigorating, noting that the process was collaborative from start to finish. “I wasn’t just given a bunch of clothes, I’m gonna put them on a bunch of girls,” he explained. “It was like, ‘what is your opinion on this?’ I sent references. We went back and forth. We fought a little. Shane and I, we fought a little, but I won in the end. But I was a part of the whole process and I think that’s what being a creative director is.”

    If you know me, you’re probably aware of my keen interest in trends that many would consider controversial. There’s the hot pants, of course, and underwear worn with just tights (no pants). I wear more low-rise jeans than high-rise ones these days and were fond of wedges before they came back. Though I often describe my style as classic and minimal, my obsession with out-there pieces and styling techniques would beg to differ. So, it should come as no surprise that a particular item caught my eye at Tory Burch’s spring/summer 2024 runway show earlier this week—an item that, for those who dressed themselves in the early to mid aughts, might bring with it some minor backlash. 

    The silhouette in question is capri pants, which haven’t been done in the chicest of ways in recent years, but got one hell of a face lift in Burch’s spring collection, which featured tailored versions of the anti-puddle pants three times, paired with blazers and matching lady jackets, not to mention sporty sunglasses, retro pocket books, and toe-ring footwear. Once so uncool, the sight of capris at the show immediately flipped my perception of them on its head, making me want to immediately leave the show and start shopping for pairs to add into my early fall wardrobe.

    On the day Rita Ora reveals her Primark collection to the world, she’s wearing the gray acid-wash denim set, consisting of a boxy moto jacket and matching miniskirt with an asymmetrical zipper down the front. She styles the co-ords with leather thigh-high boots, several chunky rings, and a fluffy shopper, one of the signature accessories in the 169-piece collection. It’s clear she’s familiar with them all as she singles out members of her design team at the NYC launch party who are also decked head to toe in Rita Ora x Primark, beckoning them to pose for the crowd. One such look is a tan three-piece pantsuit, my favorite that I’ve seen so far. But the rest of the lineup is easily accessible to me, displayed on racks for guests to sift through and even try on.

    The 32-year-old musician has spent two years dreaming up the versatile, season-less, affordable range that emits ’90s grunge and her own brand of sex appeal. “It was a combination of the friendship that I created with the CEOs and spontaneously being at the same restaurant,” Ora tells me after the intimate preview, when I ask how the collab came to be in the first place. As it turns out, her genuine love for the brand began with early shopping trips to her local Primark in Hammersmith, West London, when she considered herself an everyday fashion fan who didn’t want to break the bank. “It was such a great opportunity to reconnect to my roots, respect the journey that I’ve been on, and understand the customers, because I was one of them,” she says.

    Codesigned by Primark and Ora, alongside emerging London-based designer Jawara Alleyne — and styled by Rita’s personal stylist, Pippa Atkinson — the wardrobe staples allow the singer’s fans to re-create her famous aesthetic on any budget. It’s no surprise that as soon as the first drop was manufactured, Ora began weaving items into her outfits, slowly building suspense and teasing her followers about what was to come. All the while, the accompanying campaign was being shot in Trellick Tower and around Golborne Road in West London, where Ora grew up. “Keeping it really real was all I cared about. That’s the reason I joined with Primark in the first place, so it only made sense to go back to where it all began,” she explains.

    Available on Sept. 19 in all 430-plus of Primark’s stores, the international collaboration — starting at $5 for clothing and accessories, $28 for outerwear, and $20 for footwear — will be available to browse on primark.com, with the option to use a stock checker before heading out to shop. It also prioritizes circularity and sustainability, with two-thirds of the pieces crafted from recycled materials. Minuscule in size but huge in impact, the teeny-tiny shorts that have been popping up all year are shockingly difficult to style in a low-key, approachable manner. Yet that’s exactly how I’d describe Wilde’s look, which included the brown suede shorts, a matching cashmere sweater, sheer tights, and a floor-length coat, all of which were designed by the man of the hour, Michael Kors. She also added her signature Ray-Ban Wayfarers, of course, and knee-high suede boots from Stuart Weitzman. Just like that, Wilde cracked the code for styling hot pants for fall. Add a maxi coat, tights, and boots, and voilà—a completely wearable way to style bottoms that are only an inch away from being underwear.

    There’s nothing quite like Fashion Week to kick off the season in style with a whole new set of trends to watch. And, while summer might have come to an unofficial close as of Labor Day, the New York City heatwave has kept celebrities and editors alike stepping out in their finest warm-weather attire — and we are here for it. On Friday, Sept. 8, Prabal Gurung hosted his Spring 2024 show with Lori Harvey sitting front row, wearing a colorfully printed knit mini dress with an integrated cape, posing in the rain for the camera snaps before heading in to sit front row beneath a clear bubble umbrella.

    Crafted of teal and black, Harvey’s micro-mini silhouette was the perfect piece for the transitional season, as it was knit of a lofty weave yet still showing a healthy amount of skin. With the addition of a fringed scarf designed to be draped across her frame and pooling on the concrete beneath her feet, the look had everyone looking toward colder days ahead as well. As Harvey’s outfit was pulled straight from the Fall 2023 collection Gurung presented back in February of this year, it’s likely to be readily available for all to purchase shortly, although not quite yet.

    For Spring 2024, Gurung presented a collection inspired by his own family’s journey to the city a quarter of a century ago and what that meant for the integration of cultures. In a press release, the designer explained, “In the spirit of my aunts’ journey as immigrants in 1980s New York City, who once struggled to balance their roots with the demands of the Western world, serve as a poignant symbol. Their story inspired me to imagine the reverse—instead, envisioning someone traveling from West to the East, embarking on a voyage, shedding the obligations of Western norms, unraveling of her own beliefs as she discovers and embraces the wisdom of her new world in the East.”

    Rife with saturated pastels, bold prints, metallic materials, and embroidered details, this latest collection is one that finds the balance between the romantic and the bold; the new and the old; and the everyday with the luxe.

    This season, Seoul Fashion Week and its dominating street style felt like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise oversaturated celebrity-fueled street style world. This editor has a few predictions as to why. Perhaps it’s the unadulterated, unfiltered style guests parade around the city in. Most likely, it’s the fact that they’re not even trying to look cool, but somehow, they do. Whether or not we’d openly admit it on Zendaya’s internet, we’re all guilty of picking out an outfit simply because it’s what we should wear and what we know we’ll get photographed in. After all, the telltale sign of street style success during any fashion week is by posting a watermarked Getty Images professional photo on your Instagram feed.

    Just as much as Seoul Fashion Week and its impressive roster of South Korean designers was a feast for the eyes, the real beauty within the emerging fashion capital lies within the people itself.     Olivia Wilde was living the best of both worlds in a weather-defying ensemble at New York Fashion Week on Sept. 11. As summer style begins to mingle with fall fashion, with some celebrities still wearing bikinis and others experimenting with non-traditional fashion trends, Wilde is taking a firm stance at the center of the sartorial debate. Surrounded by fellow stars, Wilde arrived in a Michael Kors trench coat, a ribbed sweater, sheer tights, and a pair of hot pants that created the illusion of a bodysuit. She styled the outfit with knee-high suede boots, a fringe handbag, and gold Oera earrings.

    The focal point of the outfit, styled by Karla Welch, was the pair of teeny-tiny hot pants that blended seamlessly with Wilde’s sweater. From afar, Wilde easily looked like she was serving her take on the no-pants trend. Though she wasn’t completely pantsless, the star’s micro shorts, sheer tights, and black sunglasses felt like a not-so-subtle nod to summer.

    The rest of her outfit, meanwhile, was a clear homage to the impending fall weather. Wilde’s ribbed sweater provided a layer of comfort many of us crave when the temperature drops; the ruching on her hot-cocoa-brown boots added an effortlessly cozy energy to the ensemble; and her herringbone trench coat created a wind-swept drama that practically summoned a whirl of fallen leaves to dance at her feet. Though New York recently experienced its second act of summer in the form of a heat wave, followed by a series of thunderstorms, it’s clear Wilde isn’t letting the unpredictable climate deter her from wearing whatever she wants.

    After decamping to Los Angeles for a spectacular show last season, Ralph Lauren made a triumphant return to the New York calendar on Friday. After all, what is NYFW without the Bronx-born designer? Lauren and NYC go together like PB&J. To no one’s surprise, the legendary brand attracted dozens of A-list celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Diane Keaton, Sofia Richie, Gabrielle Union, and others. 

    The runway was similarly starry, with Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova, and Mariacarla Boscono walking the show. Talk about a night full of icons. The only thing better than the celebrity and supermodel appearances? The fantastic designs.

    Ralph Lauren described the collection in a statement: “My Spring 2024 women’s collection is about a new kind of romance—cool and sophisticated,” he said. “It’s about the freedom of creating a personal style through the artistry of faded denims and painterly florals, the modern sophistication of iconic shapes in black and gold, or the eclectic mix of bold colors, shine, and luxurious handcrafted details.”

    Good things come to those who wait, especially when it involves Christian Siriano. On Friday, guests mingled inside the Pierre on the Upper East Side, adorned with flowers in shades of deep purple and blue, as they awaited the start of the designer’s New York Fashion Week show. Avril Lavigne, Laverne Cox, Quinta Brunson, and more were all in attendance, but once a Siriano-clad Janet Jackson arrived, the show could officially begin.

    The presentation, which marked 15 years since Siriano’s debut, cast a diverse group of models who showcased Siriano’s vision for spring-summer 2024, all dressed in romantic and whimsical evening wear that pulled inspiration from the ballet.

    “Is it nostalgia? Is it something from the past?” Siriano told Vanity Fair he first asked himself when dreaming up what 15 years should look like on the runway. “My sister and I were ballerinas, and I remember being in these black warm-ups and then coming to life in sugarplum fairy dresses, so I really wanted to show that [transformation] tonight, the progression of what it could be and how visceral and dreamlike clothes can feel. I wanted it to be magical, and a lot of work went into those clothes,” he said.

    As for Siriano’s showstopping guest, Jackson said she and the designer met a year ago after the Grammy Award winner fell in love with a red tulle skirt—a textile heavily featured in the collection shown at the Pierre. “I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. So Stunning. Oh, my gosh. He totally outdid himself,” she said of Siriano’s latest collection.

    For Jackson, fashion’s ability to evoke feeling is where its beauty lies. “You know it has power when it gives you the ability to feel different, to feel sexy, to feel loony, to take you through these different journeys. That’s what fashion does,” she said.

    Emily Ratajkowski received her award for best podcast at The Daily Front Row’s tenth annual Fashion Media Awards during New York Fashion Week on September 8. At the event, which was presented by several brands including Sunglass Hut, the 32-year-old supermodel and High Low host stepped onto the red carpet at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center sporting a black, frilly vintage set right in line with her penchant for body-baring pieces. The crop top boasted an off-the-shoulder silhouette and featured a knot at the center with lacy ruffles that skimmed the neckline and top of her abs. Meanwhile, the matching knee-length skirt was ultra-low-rise, finished with tiers full of the same romantic lace. Ratajkowski completed her outfit with a Marc Jacobs St. Marc top handle bag and patent pumps replete with gold chainlink anklets to play up the hardware. Her long brown hair was parted at the center with a silky-smooth sheen and side-swept bangs, and she opted for a darkly-lined eye and nude, glossy lip.

    Ratajkowski joined fellow fashion A-listers Sarah Jessica Parker, who colorblocked in a purple Oscar de la Renta dress and neon heels to celebrate being named shoe brand of the year; Lila Moss, who chose a Prada minidress to receive the breakthrough model award; Pamela Anderson, named style icon; and Dove Cameron, who looked dapper in a black-and-white Valentino ensemble.

    Ratajkowski has had quite the busy Fashion Week so far, making appearances at the Lacoste 90th anniversary party in a white polo on September 9 and commemorating her participation in Victoria’s Secret’s The Tour ’23 show in all-leather on September 6.
