Hailey Bieber Wore Overalls and Heels For an Iconic Date-Night Outfit

    [ad_1]

No one had to search for how to wear overalls in the ’90s, when they somewhat defined the cultural zeitgeist with icons such as rapper Tupac, hip-hop artist Lauryn Hill, and R&B singer Aaliyah popularizing the trend. While the denim silhouette first gained momentum in the US during the 19th century as industrial workwear, it is today a fashion statement that has seen so many different iterations through the years. The ’70s gave way to overalls with flared legs or cropped and fitted versions that could be worn with nothing underneath. (See Olivia Wilde’s free-spirited, skin-baring moment ahead.) And today we’re seeing a nod back to the ’90s as street style stars opt for baggy pant legs and may even wear one, or both straps, completely undone. Call it a twist on the deconstructed-denim trend, but overalls are fast becoming yet another example of not-so-basic jeans.

Hailey Bieber recently stepped out in a pair of oversize Dickies — an iconic brand also approved by Kourtney Kardashian — that she spotlighted under her long duster coat for date night with husband Justin in Beverly Hills. By adding slick accents, such as dark, skinny sunglasses and a sharp, pointed-toe heel, she put her own stamp on the trend with ease. Meanwhile, there are plenty of ways to wear overalls through all seasons — be it in shorts form, corduroy dress form, or rugged and distressed — that cater to different tastes.

Now that overalls are trendy again, you may be at first hesitant to try them out, initially worried whether they appear flattering. But one scroll through our how-to guide, and you’ll feel well-versed in overalls, wearing them with lingerie to lounge around the house just as readily as you do for a night out finished with heels. Soon, you’ll be treating overalls like jeans — they’re easy to slip into, make for an effortless one-and-done outfit, and ridiculously chic.

Read on to see 10 of our favorite ways to wear overalls.

While I’m not an exceptionally picky shopper, I’ll admit that I’m definitely a snob when it comes to my jean collection. I’m a denim girlie through and through, so unless a dress code prohibits me from showing up to an event in my favorite pair of jeans, I’ll opt for the style time and time again. Since I practically live in denim these days (yes, even when I’m simply lounging around at home), I always get excited come fall and winter because the cooler temperatures give me an excuse to stock up on even more jean styles — in my world (or at least my closet), the limit simply doesn’t exist.

While I like to think that my denim collection is pretty diverse, I’ve recently been trying to expand on the brands included in it. Sure, I have the staples — think lots of pairs from Levi’s, Wrangler, Abercrombie, and even more high-end brands like Agolde. But after hearing rave reviews about Lucky Brand from a few of my girlfriends (and virtually every fashion influencer alive), I decided to give the denim label a try by testing out two unique pairs: the Lucky Brand Low Rise Super Wide Leg Jeans ($40, originally $129) and the Lucky Brand Lucky Legen High Rise Wide Leg Jeans ($40, originally $149). Both pants have quickly become staples in my wardrobe, and ahead, I break down what makes each style so great — from their relaxed fit to their high-quality design.

    Main ImageMain Image
    Main ImageMain Image

What I Like About These Lucky Brand Jeans

Besides the fact that they’re made from high-quality materials, I love that these pants effortlessly walk the line between being modern and yet still classic. They feel like a dream when on, thanks to their soft cotton composition and looser silhouette. Plus, they have ample pocket space, which is great for me because I prefer to carry a smaller bag and as little as possible when I’m on the go — thanks to their deeper design, I can easily squeeze my phone or credit cards into the front or back pockets. I also appreciate that neither pant is too long, so they can be worn with a variety of different shoe styles and in different seasons. For example, the charcoal low-rise pair looks great with a staple pair of winter boots, while the white high-rise pants can pair seamlessly with flats or even a cute pair of open-toed sandals. The styling options are endless, meaning I can wear them for so many different types of occasions and truly get the most use out of them — whether I’m heading out to brunch, running errands, traveling through the airport, or simply tidying up at home. You can’t beat having that kind of versatility in your closet.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Kyley Warren

    What’s Worth Noting

My one qualm with these Lucky Brand jeans is that they feel more stretched out and noticeably looser since the first wear. For context, the first time I wore the low-rise pair, they sat perfectly on my waist and fit very naturally on my body — since then, I can no longer wear them without a belt because they feel so much more lived-in in the waist area (and no, I haven’t lost any weight that might be contributing to this size change). Granted, I understand that this is pretty standard with jeans — denim material is expected to loosen up over time, especially after it’s gone through several wash cycles. That being said, the change in fit has felt a bit more noticeable than with some other pairs that I own from brands like Agolde or H&M. And even reviewers on Lucky Brand’s website have noted that both pants boast a larger fit than many shoppers were anticipating, with the low-rise style even receiving a “feels too large” rating.

Frankly, this wouldn’t deter me from purchasing these jeans again, or even just more styles from Lucky Brand in the future. But if you’re someone who’s adamantly against denim with more of a relaxed, lived-in feel (particularly styles that you can expect will loosen up more over time), these might not be for you.

Who Are These Lucky Brand Jeans Best For?

If you (like me) find that you can never have too much denim in your closet, then these jeans are perfect for you. These styles in particular feel like great counterparts to one another, with one having a dark wash low-rise design, and the other being a crisp white high-rise variation. They’re easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion, and I love that both pairs can easily be teamed with a variety of wardrobes staples — like cute bodysuits, chunky sweaters, oversize blazers, and more.

    Additional Details

    • As with most of Lucky Brand’s denim selection, these jeans are available to shop in US women’s sizes 24 through 35. Per the brand, it’s important to refer to Lucky Brand’s size guide (available on most product pages) to ensure you order the best size for you based on your hips and height.
    • Both styles are made from a classic cotton material, and it’s recommended that you machine wash them cold with similar colors to help better preserve their quality.
    • Each style is designed with different pocket functionality features. The low-rise super wide leg pants have a five-pocket styling that’s ideal for those who might be traveling with several items, while the high-rise wide leg jeans have a five-pocket styling with much deeper pockets that can hold larger items like a cell phone or even card holder with ease.

Where Are These Lucky Brand Jeans Available to Shop?

These jeans are available to shop at Lucky Brand. Select styles and colorways — like the Lucky Brand Inset Low Rise Super Wide Leg Jeans ($129) are available to shop at retailers like Nordstrom, too.

12 Flannel Outfits to Try This Fall and Winter

    [ad_1]

Flannel is a material generally associated with fall and winter trends — and for good reason. If you’re looking for how to wear your flannel this season, we’ve rounded up 12 unique outfits that scream fashion girl, but simultaneously keep you cozy. The soft, fuzzy, or “raised” fabric of your favorite flannel retains warmth, but that doesn’t mean it can’t earn you style points.

Your flannels aren’t just for sleeping or lounging around the house. As so many trendsetters prove, there are some pretty significant ways to wear them that stand out, whether you’re using plaid (a print typically seen on flannels) to bring casual vibes to fancier pieces, or even rocking textured shoes to add even more dimension. While most people probably think of flannels as lived-in button-downs that become soft with age, the material’s not just limited to shirting. Flannel skirts, pants, blazers, and jackets are in abundance on the streets if you look closely.

Ahead, brush up on a few new ideas for winter outfits that involve this wardrobe essential, from sporting your checked blazer with nylon drawstring shorts to putting a sporty twist on dark academia to layering a fuzzy knee-length skirt over straight-leg jeans and finishing the unexpected combination with a pair of feminine pink shoes.

  • 12 Effortless Ways to Achieve Dressy-Casual Looks

12 Effortless Ways to Achieve Dressy-Casual Looks

    [ad_1]

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Whether you’re headed to a museum date, attending a friend’s daytime brunch, or adventuring in a new city, a dressy-casual outfit will strike the perfect balance between refined and relaxed. The dress code invites you to feel comfortable, but not so much that you show up to an office party in jeans, a T-shirt, and flats. When in doubt, one-piece outfits are an easy way to achieve the dressy-casual vibe because they don’t require much effort. A printed knit dress or midi slip design paired with knee-high boots are the kinds of looks that give the impression you spent more time getting dressed than you really did.

Some popular trends lend themselves to the dressy-casual theme. The soft-girl aesthetic, for example, takes a pastel approach to a wide range of dress codes. A lavender knit dress paired with wedges or a yellow pearl-button-front cardigan worn with black jeans are ideal dressy-casual outfits. Elsewhere, with the pearlcore trend still going strong, glam up a regular blouse or denim jacket by sewing strings of pearls onto it to deliver a more elegant look.

The secret to dressy casual is balancing the fancier pieces with more laid-back items and accessories. Your favorite pair of kitten heels or your go-to beaded clutch will always help you reach new levels of chic. Ballerina flats, alternatively, can pare back a dressy combo of tailored trousers and a satin blouse.

Read on to find out how to master the dressy-casual way of dressing.

    What Is Dressy Casual?

Also called smart casual, dressy-casual attire combines relaxed, everyday wardrobe essentials with more formal, office-ready items. Think wearing a silky blouse with your favorite pair of jeans, styling a long dress with flats, or wearing tailored trousers with a linen shirt. Depending on your office dress code, you can get away with dressy-casual looks every day. They are usually a step above jeans and graphic tees, but they aren’t as formal as tweed suits or glamorous dresses.

How Can I Style Dressy-Casual Outfits?

The key to achieving the dressy-casual look? Balancing the more refined piece with an item or accessory that has a more laid-back vibe. For example, match a linen shorts set with strappy heels and a designer bag. Or try pairing a chunky gold necklace with a standard cami to dress up dark denim jeans. Another brunch-ready look: a satin slip dress with slingbacks and colorful bangles. If you need more guidance, scroll on for our curated picks.

  • Thong Heels Are Trending, and This $40 Pair Is My Go-To

Thong Heels Are Trending, and This $40 Pair Is My Go-To

    [ad_1]

    POPSUGAR Photography | Kyley Warren
    POPSUGAR Photography | Kyley Warren

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

In this week’s episode of “Retro Styles That TikTok Has Made New (and Cool) Again,” we have none other than the thong heel. It’s true — the controversial and alarmingly open-toed shoe that once dominated ’90s fashion has managed to wiggle its way back into the mainstream yet again, though this time with a seemingly much larger fan base that includes everyone from fashion editors to celebrities like Rihanna and Kendall Jenner and more. Love it or hate it, the sexy heeled sandal proved to be huge during the summer season and shows no signs of slowing down throughout the fall — at least not if TikTok has anything to do with it.

I myself have been looking for a way to tap into the trend via a more affordable route — I expect I’ll be spending a lot in the upcoming shopping season and therefore can’t necessarily afford to splurge on the same designer styles loved by today’s biggest stars (sigh). Fortunately, a recent scroll through Nordstrom Rack’s site introduced me to these Dolce Vita Zini Thong Heels ($40, originally $60), which not only tick all of my boxes (stylish with a color variety and durable make) but also boast an under-$50 price tag. I’ve received endless compliments on these shoes, even managing to puzzle many of my editor friends at last month’s New York Fashion Week festivities who were convinced the heeled sandals had to be designer (did I just discover the ultimate shoe dupe?).

    Main ImageMain Image

Since I’m not in the business of gatekeeping, I break down everything that I love about this shoe and more — from the heel’s strappy design and seamless fit to its endless styling options and more.

What I Like About These Dolce Vita Thong Heels

As someone who loves finding an affordable alternative or dupe of a more luxurious style, the price tag on these shoes was instantly a huge selling point for me. Thong heels have been bubbling up on my TikTok so much over the last few months that I’ve been desperate to find a way into the trend — though preferably through an outlet that wouldn’t force me to fork over an outrageous amount of money on a designer style I wasn’t necessarily confident would still be relevant next season (after all, the last time these shoes were hot was way back in the ’90s). But these Dolce Vita shoes have proven to be a more affordable exception to the thong heel trend, with a timeless design that’s versatile enough to be worn for a number of occasions — and, of course, an under-$50 price tag that you simply can’t beat.

Beyond the price of these comfy heels, I also appreciate that unlike other pairs of thong styles, this particular style has an additional bit of material that stretches horizontally over the upper portion of the shoe, providing more support for feet when walking. Typical thong sandals will simply rely on a classic, V-shaped design for the shoe’s straps, which — while it might offer more breathing room for toes — tends to create a less practical fit that’s trickier to walk in, especially if the style is made from a sleek material like leather. These cute heels are unique in that they have more of a crisscross design that plays into the thong heel trend but also offers more strap coverage so my feet aren’t aimlessly slipping around in the shoe while walking. Because of this, I’ve had no problem wearing them for longer days outside of the house — from meeting up with my girlfriends for happy hour to running back and forth between shows at New York Fashion Week.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Kyley Warren

    What’s Worth Noting

While the crisscross design on these thong sandals makes the shoe significantly easier to walk in, it also creates a much snugger fit that might not be ideal for everyone. The shoes certainly feel narrow while on, and because they’re made from a polyurethane leather material, you can’t necessarily expect they’ll loosen up over time — for context, I’ve worn these heeled mules extensively over the last few months, and they still feel just like they did the first day I tried them on (snug and well-adjusted to my feet). In theory, this is a great thing, because it means the heels won’t wear down or start to feel too lived-in too quickly. But if you’re someone with wider feet or just a person who dislikes the feeling of tighter, more formfitting shoes, then these thong heels might not be the best pair for you.

Who Are These Thong Heels Best For?

If you’re someone who (like me) has been looking for a way into the thong heel trend without having to dish out a ton of money on yet another viral TikTok fad, then you can’t go wrong with these Dolce Vita heels. They are timeless and made to last (thanks to the shoe’s thicker polyurethane material), and they can easily be styled with literally any outfit in your closet. I’ve worn them to work events, paired with a silk skirt and belted blazer; to dinner dates with my friends, teamed with a maxi sweaterdress and statement clutch; and even while running errands when I want to spice up my usual denim-and-bodysuit ensemble with a more elevated flair. The shoes are easy to dress up or down, and because of their strappy, open-toed design, I’m also confident I can wear them throughout any season — making them a great year-round staple.

  • Borrowed From the Boys: Hailey and Taylor Make the Case For Girls in Menswear

Borrowed From the Boys: Hailey and Taylor Make the Case For Girls in Menswear

    [ad_1]

Halloweekend came with its parade of stunning, spooky celebrity looks. But before the star-studded parties and the outrageous costumes, some major streetwear fits were thrown by some of our favorite style girlies. And, like we predicted for the fall, menswear is in for everyone — just ask Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift.

First, Taylor — on the heels of her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) smash hit rerelease — has been making headlines for more than just her music and her new man. Just like in 2014, when Taylor Swift moved to New York and wrote the original 1989 album, the superstar was often spotted out in the city with her girl gang, living the Sex and the City dream.

Years later, the queen of New York is back. Paparazzi spot her every night dining with the likes of Sophie Turner and Blake Lively, and they also see her every day strutting through the West Village. Her most recent outfit made a case for two of the hottest seasonal trends: menswear and prep.

Taylor sported an oversized Stella McCartney rugby shirt as a mini dress, accessorized with a cool girl Ralph Lauren dad hat and an enviable pair of knee-high Prada boots (here’s the Steve Madden dupe). While Swift dressed up the rugby look, it’s a menswear fit that will go down in the fashion history books.

And if that wasn’t enough for my Pinterest boards, then the Biebers stepped out in a charming and disarming couple’s fit as they so often do. Justin wore a silky pair of argyle dress pants with an open dress shirt and tasseled Santoni loafers. He paired it with a leather jacket and sunglasses to add some rockstar edge to the uncharacteristically straight-laced look. But Hailey rocked the standout look of the night. For once, Hailey was the more casual of the two — and after he wore that sweatsuit while she donned a killer red mini, I never thought I’d see the day.

Hailey dressed for the weather in a long coat from celebrity-favorite brand, Khaite. For a lesser dresser, the coat would’ve been the standout piece — and Hailey has made headlines in the past few weeks for rocking men’s coats and statement jackets. But Hailey paired this piece with a surprising menswear choice: overalls.

The kind of piece you can find at any flea market, surplus store, or for $45 on Amazon, Hailey dressed up these Dickies denim overalls with heels and chic sunglasses to transform the daytime denim into an enviable date night stunner

In fact, denim and a long black coat is one of the hottest fall menswear trends — just ask Bradley Cooper (getting style tips from Gigi Hadid, perhaps?) and Jacob Elordi, who is on his fashion press tour for Priscilla andSaltburn.

So, if you had any doubts, let this be the proof that the borrowed-from-the-boys aesthetic is in for the fall. Inspired to take it for a spin? Here are some choice pieces to dress up for your next day out or date night.

As a mom who works remotely, I’ve come to terms with the fact that joggers and sneakers have replaced blazers, delicate blouses, and heeled boots as my daily uniform. While comfort and convenience are the guiding forces behind most of my fashion choices these days, I still love pulling together an outfit. Monochromatic sweatsuits are wardrobe gold for me. They’re comfortable, polished, and endlessly versatile, and I’m never not keeping an eye out for a new one in a color I’m missing. Last year, I snagged a couple of wide-leg sweatpants with matching crewneck sweatshirts from the GAP that look sharp but feel like pajamas. This year, I found a similar pairing at Old Navy for nearly half the price. Old Navy’s High-Waisted Dynamic Fleece Wide-Leg Trouser Pants ($31, originally $45) and Vintage Crewneck Sweatshirt ($24, originally $35) are a match made in sweatsuit heaven, and I know I’ll be wearing them on repeat all season.

    Main ImageMain Image
    Main ImageMain Image

What I Like About Old Navy’s Fleece Wide-Leg Trouser Pants and Vintage Crewneck Sweatshirt

Let’s start with the fleece trouser pants. The high-waisted, wide-leg cut creates a flattering silhouette you can easily pair with a cute sweater, like my favorite Polo Sweater from Old Navy, for a slightly dressier look. The seamed legs and slits on the hem of the pants add to the trouser aesthetic. In black, it’s almost hard to tell they’re sweats, but the soft texture has an unmistakable fleece feel. They have pockets at the hip that are lined with a ventilated sports fabric. They’re not too thick or heavy but still feel comfortable on a chilly day.

The sweatshirt has a vintage vibe, with its slightly cropped length, crewneck, and soft-washed fleece that feels like a well-loved T-shirt. I like that it hits the top of my hip and is relaxed without looking sloppy. The length is perfect for wearing with high-waisted jeans, or in this case, high-waisted sweatpants in the same color. I like to tuck just a few inches of the front of the sweatshirt into my pants to create more of a defined waist.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Angela Elias

What’s Worth Noting About Old Navy’s Fleece Wide-Leg Trouser Pants and Vintage Crewneck Sweatshirt

The sweatshirt is lined with the sort of soft material you’d hope to have in a fleece sweatshirt, so it’s really cozy and comfortable. The fleece trouser pants look the same on the outside as the sweatshirt, but they don’t have the same soft lining. They feel more similar to thick leggings rather than cozy sweatpants with soft, fleece lining. They’re still comfortable and softer than jeans, but don’t have the plush feel you’d expect from traditional fleece sweatpants. This is the biggest difference I noticed from GAP’s wide-leg sweatpants, which look the same but feel more like the sweatshirt.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Angela Elias

Who Is Old Navy’s Fleece Wide-Leg Trouser Pants and Vintage Crewneck Sweatshirt Best For?

The sweatshirt and fleece trousers are perfect for someone who gravitates towards wide-leg styles of pants and wants a more polished version of a monochromatic sweatsuit. If you’re also on a budget and don’t want to spend a ton of money on loungewear, these pieces are definitely worth trying.

Both the sweatshirt and fleece trousers come in several colors, but black is the only option if you want the top and bottom to match for a sweatsuit vibe. If that’s not as important to you, you can experiment with pairing the fleece trousers with all sorts of tops, from distressed denim jackets to collared button ups and plaid shackets.

    Additional Details

    • The sweatshirt is made of 90 percent cotton and 10 percent polyester.
    • The fleece trousers are made of 69 percent cotton, 26 percent polyester and five percent spandex.
    • The pants come in six colors and the sweatshirt comes in six colors, but the only color in common is black.

Allison Williams Is Still Taking Style Cues From Her Onscreen Rival, M3GAN

    [ad_1]

Allison Williams served horror-movie haute couture during a stroll through New York City on Oct. 25. Following the viral success of director Gerard Johnstone’s “M3gan,” in which Williams plays the malevolent doll’s rival, fans have been taking style cues from the fashionable AI robot. In the film, M3GAN unleashes her vengeance on dozens of unsuspecting victims, and she does it all in patent-leather Mary Janes and a peplum silhouette. After months of filming, her chic sense of style appears to have rubbed off on Williams, and something about the preppy ensemble has us envisioning a whole collection of M3GAN-inspired outfits.

Putting a M3GAN-core twist on some of our favorite fall fashion trends, Williams stepped out in a Brunello Cucinelli Giacca double-breasted leather blazer, which retails for $8,400, layered over a white button-up shirt and a sequin necktie. She styled the brown leather blazer with a plaid miniskirt, sheer tights, and pointed-toe pumps in a rich chocolate shade. Even her manicure reflected the autumnal tones.

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of watching the comedy-infused horror film, “M3GAN” closely follows the eponymous AI robot as she attempts to pick off the human race one by one. Even as she’s coaxing her next victim into the forest to meet their unfortunate end, the doll manages to keep her peplum coat and hand-polished shoes looking pristine. As a children’s plaything, she is lethal; but as a horror-movie fashion idol, M3GAN’s wardrobe is a lesson in the power of simplicity, which Williams has executed perfectly.

Falling heavily in line with the traditional prep and school-girl aesthetics, M3GAN-core is all about attention to detail. From an artful pair of tinted sunglasses to a set of leather driving gloves that beg the question “Can M3GAN drive?,” the AI doll’s wardrobe is stacked with luxe accessories. Like the carefully curated pieces that round out M3GAN’s costumes, Williams’s sleek heels and shimmering necktie feel purposeful in their styling and invoke the idea that — dangerous AI bot or not — a quality coat never goes out of style.

If we were to take apart our fall wardrobes and organize the pieces by category (tops, pants, skirts, sweaters, dresses), odds are, many of us would have several items in common. Articles of clothing like black jeans, cropped sweaters and white button-downs likely exist in each of our closets—and lend to some seriously good minimalist fall outfit ideas. When it comes to minimalist aesthetics and capsule wardrobes, you have to learn how to create multiple ensembles with a collection of basic pieces. Thankfully, it’s not nearly as difficult when most of those items already live in your closet.

Taking items like a white ribbed tee, long neutral skirt, black leather pants or everyday boots and pairing each with different pieces to put together easy, minimalist fall outfits just takes a little practice. If you’re unsure about where to start, I definitely get it. Minimalism is definitely a concept I understand in theory, but have trouble with in practice. I constantly fear that I’ll get bored with minimalist looks or will end up ignoring other pieces in my closet that don’t exactly fit the aesthetic. However, I’ve learned that you can’t deny how sleek a simple, minimalist outfit can often look. Whether you wear all-black everything or mix neutrals to create a stylish ensemble, you really can’t go wrong with a minimalist ensemble.

When the weather is cool, pairing these neutral wardrobe essentials likely already in your closet gets easier, thanks to the ability to layer and all the incredible neutral hues that autumn brings. But because I often struggle with what pieces to put together, I decided to take the time to create a full arsenal of minimalist outfit ideas to try this fall.

Below, you’ll find 18 easy and minimalist street style outfits to fall in love with for autumn. Just because minimalist is, at its core, simple, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it this season.

The ’80s called — and (as with all great trends) it seems the loud, flashy, and downright robotic styles of fashion’s grooviest decade have been brought back to life with the help of TikTok. It’s true: metallic clothing has made its long-awaited return to mainstream fashion, with major designers and celebrities alike all infusing their own twist into the shimmery style fad. Even Beyoncé played into the metallic fashion craze when she asked her fans to don their best silver ensembles when attending her “Renaissance” World Tour shows.

Whether you’re hoping to experiment with the trend this season or you lived it in real time and are already digging through your closet to revive those storied pieces, there are so many fun ways to play around with the metallic aesthetic this fall.

I’ll admit: oftentimes I struggle with investing in style trends that I’m not fully convinced will still be around or relevant next season. Fortunately, with the metallic fashion fad, there are plenty of pieces on the market that are not only incredibly versatile but also glitzy enough to work within any dress-code guidelines — from your next date night to an elevated evening soirée or even a holiday gathering at home.

To help you add some shimmer to your wardrobe and embrace TikTok’s latest microtrend obsession, I’ve curated a guide for the best metallic clothing to shop from today’s top fashion labels — with dozens of divine styles that are sure to stand the test of time while also making you stand out in any room this season (all while being draped in some serious sparkle, of course).

From flashy metallic jumpsuits and futuristic bomber jackets to cropped sequin skirts and glistening metallic dresses that are so nostalgic they look like they’ve been taken straight out of an ’80s wardrobe, we’re all in on metallic fashion this season — and here to help you embrace it on your own terms, too. Ahead, shop our go-to metallic picks for some major styling inspiration.

Most people associate fall fashion with cozy sweaters and denim jeans, but there are plenty of ways to wear dresses during the colder months. Hear us out: Breezy dresses are ideal for those unpredictable days in September when it’s chilly in the morning but warm and sunny in the afternoon. (You’ll look great and you won’t have to worry about sweating through your clothes by lunchtime.) And as the season progresses and temperatures stay cool throughout the day, you can easily transition to your favorite maxi dress by pairing it with tights and chic knee-high boots, topped with a stylish coat.

But the dress options don’t end with maxis. Nothing’s stopping you from wearing midi dresses over turtlenecks and minidresses under oversized denim jackets. And with all the fabulous dresses available at Old Navy right now, you’re bound to want one of every length. Ahead, we’ve compiled 10 of our favorites to consider adding to your fall wardrobe, including options in autumnal prints and colors, like foliage-inspired reds, browns, and greens, and in every length: minis, midis, and maxis. Slipping into a soft, chunky-knit sweater is one of those cold-weather comforts I look forward to the minute summer is over. Whether it’s a cozy turtleneck, a cardigan for layering, or a pullover sweater, I’m always drawn to slightly oversize versions with a relaxed fit. The closer it feels to wearing a blanket, the better! I’ve been looking for a chunky collared sweater that won’t overwhelm my frame or make me itch, and I’ve finally found it. Old Navy’s Polo Sweater ($29, originally $50) is so perfect, I’m eyeing the dark green (hello, holiday gatherings!) and black versions to wear with my favorite jeans and boots all season.

    Main ImageMain Image

What I Like About Old Navy’s Polo Sweater

With its dropped shoulders and loose fit, this sweater is oversize coziness at its best but still manages to be flattering with its V neck, fashionable collar, and cuff sleeves. I like to tuck in the front to control the volume and keep it from looking sloppy. The material is a cotton-blend yarn that’s so soft, you might find yourself absent-mindedly petting your arm. It’s also sensitive-skin friendly, so you won’t be tempted to scratch or constantly sneeze with loose fibers floating and shedding everywhere. It’s on the thicker side, so it will keep you toasty on chilly days, but you can still layer it under a coat.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Angela Elias

What’s Worth Noting About Old Navy’s Polo Sweater

I got my usual size medium and didn’t need to size up to get the loose fit I was going for. If you want a little less volume, you could get away with sizing down without it feeling too snug. It hits right at the hips, which also helps the looser fit from looking too big. You’ll want to wash it on a cold, gentle cycle and lay flat to dry.

    POPSUGAR Photography | Angela Elias

Who Is Old Navy’s Polo Sweater Best For?

This piece is perfect for anyone who wants a soft and comfortable sweater that can be dressed up with jeans and boots or paired with joggers and sneakers. Since it’s warm and thick, it’s best for chilly weather. It is a bit too chunky to layer under a blazer or leather jacket and works better under a roomier coat.

    Additional Details

    • It’s made with a cotton-blend yarn and 36 percent recycled polyester.
    • It comes in three colors, including black and dark green.
    • It should be washed in cold water on a gentle cycle and laid flat to dry.

  • My Favorite Sweater Dress For Fall Is Under $40 at H&M

My Favorite Sweater Dress For Fall Is Under $40 at H&M

    [ad_1]

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Fall is finally here, and while I love a good seasonal activity as much as the next girl (apple picking FTW), arguably my favorite way to commemorate the beginning of a new season is with a proper shopping spree — because of course. In all my years, I’ve found that nothing feels more quintessential to fall than treating your wardrobe to a cozy update, and after seeing that H&M just debuted hundreds of new arrivals in celebration of autumn’s return, I figured I’d kickstart my most recent shopping activities there — and certainly wasn’t disappointed. From fitted bouclé jackets and edgy knee-high boots to retro denim that would make the most darling addition to anyones’s transitional closet, the retailer is literally bursting with so many fun new arrivals this month — including chic sweater dresses like this romantic H&M Rib-Knit Sweater Dress ($40).

Between the style’s dozens of rave reviews, moody autumnal coloring, and figure-flattering design, I knew this cozy dress was a piece that I could get a lot of use out of this season. Ahead, I break down everything to know about the midi frock — from its comfortable fit and durable composition to the style’s trendiest accents like a sweetheart neckline and ribbed detailing.

What I Like About This H&M Sweater Dress

I love that this dress is relaxed and comfortable enough to be worn around the house, but also chic enough to dress up with a statement winter coat, cool pair of boots, or even an everyday bag like a tote or crossbody. Plus, despite its cozier make, the fall dress style has a perfectly balanced weight — it’s thick enough to serve as a warm layer on those chillier winter days, but also lightweight enough that I don’t feel too bogged down by it or like I’d sweat in it on a warm afternoon. The knit dress also boasts cool ribbed detailing that’s designed to create a more textured pattern across the style — which ultimately helps to highlight curves and make it look all the more flattering while on.

    What’s Worth Noting

The style is made from a rib-knit material rather than a bodycon composition — meaning that while it’s incredibly flattering while on, it’s designed to fit a bit looser on the body, particularly along the waist and back areas where extra material has a tendency to bundle up. Length-wise, the sweater dress is true to size, but even H&M’s own website notes that the cozy frock runs a bit larger otherwise. I personally ordered this in my normal medium size and found that it fit beautifully, but if you’re looking for a dress that has a bit more of a cinched look on the waist, other reviewers on the retailer’s site recommend ordering a size down so that it fits more snugly on the body.

Who Is This H&M Sweater Dress Best For?

If you’re looking for an easy (and affordable) way to upgrade your seasonal wardrobe, this sweater dress is your perfect solution. It offers a fun way to embrace some of this season’s biggest style trends (think soft knitwear, midi dresses, romantic tones like burgundy and black) via a versatile piece that’s easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion.

    Additional Details

    • This H&M dress is available to shop in US women’s sizes XS through XL. The brand also has a separate size guide that shoppers are encouraged to reference before purchasing to ensure they find their perfect fit.
    • The style is available to shop in a variety of colors, including black, light beige, burgundy (my shade of choice), and a bright cherry red.
    • Because this fall dress is made from a rib-knit material, the style comes with a specific set of care instructions which include machine washing cold, only using non-chlorine bleach, and ironing on low-heat when needed.

    Rating:
    ★★★★★

  • The Controversial Peplum Trend Is Back With a Vengeance This Fall

The Controversial Peplum Trend Is Back With a Vengeance This Fall

    [ad_1]

If you kept up with style trends in the 2010s, you probably had a peplum top you paired with skinny jeans and ballet flats. (We don’t blame you. We did, too.) From peplum blouses to dresses and skirts, the dramatic silhouette was everywhere. Now, over a decade later, the controversial fashion trend is making a comeback thanks to celebrities like Florence Pugh, Gabrielle Union, Angela Bassett, and Harry Styles, who aren’t afraid to air out the retro ruffles one more time.

Notably, Union delivered a unique take on the trend in a Schiaparelli corset jumpsuit during a night out in Los Angeles on Oct. 13. The olive-green piece, designed by Daniel Roseberry, featured a gold three-button closure at the waist and seashell-inspired pleating along the bust. Union styled the plunging outfit, which flared at the hips, with a gold-and-silver statement choker and square-toe chrome heels.

Like flared jeans, the exaggerated peplum silhouette has elicited varied reactions from fashion lovers worldwide. Those in favor of the peplum trend often praise its ability to accentuate the smallest part of the waist — à la corset tops — and add volume to the hips. Those opposed to the dramatic design most frequently cite the wilted fabric that, when draped haphazardly, can end up looking messy at best and like a wrinkled bedsheet tucked into the waist at worst. Modern takes on the throwback look, though, boast one key difference: structure.

Most recently, designers such as Armani Privé, Viktor & Rolf, Givenchy, Dior, and Prabal Gurung have all showcased peplum silhouettes in runway shows, proving that the trend’s return is more than just a sartorial phenomenon. By using stiffer fabrics and incorporating seasonal trends like sheer fabrics and sequins, these designers and more have managed to manipulate the peplum trend, reforming it into something fresher and more digestible for a 2023 audience.

Though we often associate it with the 2010s, the peplum trend dates as far back as ancient Greece, where people of all genders used the cinched waist and extended hips to emphasize an hourglass silhouette, according to MasterClass. The style gained even more popularity during the Renaissance era, which boasted detailed corset bodices attached to full skirts that extended at the waist. Today, the peplum style is romantic and experimental all at once, pressing the boundaries of what it means to be haute couture.

Considering some of our favorite fashion trends this year have been some of the most unusual — see thong boots and seven-inch platforms — we have hope that the peplum trend, as controversial as it is, will be leaving its mark the second time around.

Ahead, see how celebrities like Union, Anne Hathaway, and Anitta have been putting their own spin on the peplum trend.

It’s scary how much we love Target’s new Halloween slippers. The superstore’s new line of fuzzy footwear came perfectly timed for spooky-season dressing, featuring a whole host of themed designs to choose from. The colorways range from traditional black and white to bright orange, available in both closed-toe and slide styles. Choose from black cats arching their backs across fuzzy white sherpa, orange slides with cute jack-o’-lantern faces, or matching embroidered ghosts yelling, “Boo!”

Thankfully, the machine-washable slippers are just as practical as they are cute, using memory-foam cushioning and slip-resistant soles to ensure comfort and durability. Some of the closed-toe versions are also stuffed with fluffy fleece for even more coziness. But don’t just take our word for it. According to comments on TikTok, real-life shoppers say these seasonal slippers withstand the test of time. “No joke these slippers last forever I still have mine from last year,” one user wrote. “That brand of sandals is actually super nice,” another weighed in, pointing to the Dluxe By Dearfoams seller. “I’ve had a pair for a while now and they’ve held up really well, can’t wait to get one of these too.”

Given the high praise on TikTok, it’s no wonder this year’s styles are already going fast. The $20 slippers are currently on sale for $16 (when purchased online), and many are rushing to add to cart with plans to wear well beyond Halloween. “My whole closet is just going to be halloween stuff at this point,” one user joked in response to the viral footwear. “It’s a lifestyle.” Read on to shop your own pair and keep the spooky spirit going strong.

For once, having expensive taste won’t hurt your bank account thanks to Target’s affordable satin pajamas. As fall hues replace the vibrant pinks that defined summer, shoppers are taking the opportunity to hop on an innovative fashion trend: sleepwear as daywear. Since discovering the luxe pajamas, available in a warm chestnut brown and azure blue, TikTok users have wasted no time sharing their daytime styling tips. “Y’all, I could pop this on with a bag and just really be out living my best life,” one TikTok user said as she modeled the outfit in the Target dressing room.

The full Stars Above pajama set includes a long-sleeve top, pants, a cami, shorts, a sleep dress, and a robe. As much as we love a matching moment, each individual piece from the set could work with your existing wardrobe. Going on a date or brunch with friends? Slip the cami on with a pair of flared jeans and ankle boots. Grabbing rooftop drinks? Swap the jeans out for a black miniskirt and tights. Plus, you can remove the tie on the robe and use it as a shawl or shrug to keep away the fall breeze as you run errands.

Several shoppers have also called out the similarity between the pajamas and TLC’s outfit in the 1994 “Creep” music video. “It’s giving TLC ‘Creep,’” one TikTok user said as she posed in front of the mirror in the sleek pajamas. While the blue set is most similar to the set Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins wears in the video, shoppers have been partial to the brown set for its autumnal tones. Some fans of the pajamas have even requested additional colors, including forest green and maroon.

If you’re looking for an outfit that’s comfortable and will leave you feeling like the queen of fall, this is it. No matter how you style the pajama set, the shimmering fabric and rich colors instantly make any ensemble feel a little bit more luxurious. After all, there’s something magical about wearing a matching set.

Ahead, shop the versatile Stars Above pajama set in both colors, and see what TikTok shoppers have to say about the chic sleepwear.
