EastEnders airs Yolande assault and fans declare the episode ‘phenomenal’

    [ad_1]

Yolande Trueman was sexually assaulted by Pastor Clayton in tonight’s EastEnders. We then saw how he has groomed and abused various women over the years.

Fans have been left floored by the “powerful” episode. They have declared it – and Yolande actress Angela Wynter – “phenomenal”.

Pastor Clayton assaults Yolande in EastEnders

The episode began as Yolande was under pressure to get the fundraiser exactly right. She was running around trying to make sure everything was in order, all-the-while fending off barbed comments from the pastor’s wife, Stella.

Patrick didn’t help matters when he lost his temper after seeing Yolande and the pastor at the house together. They ended up having a furious row and Yolande told Patrick not to come to the fundraiser.

However things took a turn when Yolande was preparing something alone in the kitchen at the Community Centre. The fundraiser was in full swing outside and Pastor Clayton came in behind Yolande and locked the kitchen door.

The next thing we saw was Yolande looking petrified as she pulled herself up and Pastor Clayton letting himself out.

As he spoke to the waiting crowds and played the showman, Yolande stood beside him on the stage fighting tears and in complete shock.

After the attack, Yolande eventually managed to rush out. She went home, but upon seeing Patrick had prepared a romantic meal she ran out again. It was a hard watch as Yolande desperately tried to keep her emotions inside.

Finding solace in the laundrette, Yolande was finally able to let her screams and cries come.

Elaine had seen her come in and followed her inside. Yolande confided what had happened explaining Pastor Clayton had “put his hand where it had no business being”.

Elaine was shocked and insisted it was sexual assault. But Yolande refused to report him or tell Patrick as she didn’t want to ever have to talk about her body in that way; it was too personal.

Pastor Clayton is a serial sex offender

Throughout her turmoil, the scenes flashed back to various time points over the years that showed Pastor Clayton has a history of sexual assault.

Several women were seen confessing he had raped them. One went to the church authorities who simply moved him to another parish and told the woman not to say anything else. Another was told by the police the CPS felt there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him.

They all had one thing in common – they were older women, who were told would not be believed because he was a younger man.

Yolande then resolved not to tell anyone else and to put it behind her. “It was just 60 seconds,” she said as she decided to move on.

But can she really forget what happened and move on? Doesn’t she want to see Pastor Clayton punished? And how will this affect her for the rest of her life?

Fans react to Yolande assault scenes in EastEnders

Those watching at home were in awe of the episode. They have praised it’s power and in particular the performance of Angela Wynter, who plays Yolande.

“If you haven’t yet seen today’s episode of EastEnders, be sure to check it out. Angela Wynter’s performance will blow you away. Wow,” said one.

Another added: “Such a heartbreaking brilliantly written episode! Today’s episode oh my goodness poor Yolande.”

“Angela Wynter is incredible though,” said one more.

A fourth wrote: “Not sure I need to rewatch EastEnders again tonight, so I just wanted to say what a performance by Angela Wynter and Harriet Thorpe. Utterly heartbreaking and harrowing storyline for Yolande that’s important to highlight, I just hope that the Pastor does get convicted for his crimes.”

“Angela Wynter and Harriet Thorpe were amazing. What a performance. Heartbreaking. Cried my eyes out. So many people will relate. Well done again EastEnders and all your writers. Most compelling programme for me on TV for a long time,” added a fifth.

Someone else wrote: “Omg this episode is phenomenal EastEnders, 10s across the board.”

And one more said: “Such a powerful episode tonight. Really nice how they flashed back to past women. Someone needs to give the ‘Pastor’ a beating. Also I’m LOVING Elaine and Yolande’s growing friendship.”

EastEnders spoilers: Johnny Carter returns in new first look pictures

    [ad_1]

EastEnders has revealed spoilers and pictures for the return of Johnny Carter to the soap. It comes as mum Linda can’t cope following Keanu’s Christmas murder.

With Linda drinking herself into oblivion to forget the events of Christmas Day, Johnny’s return can’t come soon enough. But can he help her?

Johnny Carter back in EastEnders spoilers

These all-new images show Linda‘s in for a shock when Johnny makes a return unexpectedly. He finds her in a drunken mess and helps her up.

However, things are set to get worse when he finds out Dean is back in Walford as well. What will he do with this news? Will Johnny act to avenge his mum? And will that only serve to make matters far worse than before?

    Who plays Johnny Carter now?

EastEnders revealed Johnny was heading back to Walford last year. He will now be played by new actor Charlie Suff, who is the third person to play the role. Sam Strike was the first Johnny, with Ted Reilly being the last actor to star.

Charlie has spoken about his new role: “I’m so delighted to be joining such an iconic programme – EastEnders was always on at my house when I was growing up. Johnny is a complex character who has been through so much, which I can’t wait to explore. I’ve found EastEnders to be the most kind and loving space to work in, and I already feel like one of the family.”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Charlie Suff to the role of Johnny Carter. Although we haven’t seen Johnny on The Square in almost five years, his character remains linked to the show and its most iconic venue, The Queen Vic. Since his short time away, the Carter family dynamics have changed significantly, and it’s safe to say that Johnny will be returning to a very different Walford than the one he left.”

Denise and Linda are both struggling to cope (Credit: BBC)

    Christmas in EastEnders

Christmas Day saw Linda Carter kill Keanu Taylor. Although she didn’t mean to do it, she was merely acting to stop him strangling Sharon Watts to death, Linda along with Sharon, Kathy Beale, Stacey Slater, Denise Fox and Suki Panesar decided to cover up the crime.

Nish Panesar was also lying unconscious in The Vic after he had tried to attack Suki and Denise had hit him over the head with a bottle. The women – who have become known as The Six – framed Keanu for Nish’s attack. They made out he had fled and disappeared and buried his body under the cafe floor.

Linda has been drinking herself into oblivion as she struggles to cope. Meanwhile, Denise is now hallucinating Keanu. This comes after she dropped her ‘D’ necklace in the grave when she was pushed in during a fight with Stacey. The necklace was buried with Keanu, meaning Denise’s neck is well and truly on the line if he is ever found.

EastEnders exit sealed for Kim Fox: Why Tameka Empson is leaving and how long she'll be off screen

    [ad_1]

Kim Fox looks set to wave farewell to Albert Square this week as she lands a top job on a cruise ship.

But will Kim leave Walford and does this mean a departure for EastEnders actress Tameka Empson?

Kim’s got a decision to make (Credit: BBC)

    Cruising with Kim Fox!

With Kim having wowed Howie’s old friend with her social media know-how, she’s been offered the chance to join her fella on the fancy winter cruise.

But Kim’s got a lot to think about. Denzel’s causing a few headaches at school and Kim feels bad when Yolande explains he’s acting up because he’s scared about being left behind if they head off to sail the sea!

Luckily, after a heart to heart with the thoughtful teen, Kim’s reassured. Denzel tells her and Howie that he’ll be fine and urges them to go.

Kim isn’t sure what to do (Credit: BBC)

    Sisterly love

But Denzel’s not Kim’s only concern – she’s also worried about sister Denise. She even thinks Dee could be experiencing PTSD after witnessing Nish almost die at Christmas (oh, if only Kim knew the truth, eh?!).

But after Kim shares her worries with her sister, Denise manages to pull herself together. She too demands Kim hits the waves.

So is Kim heading off for good?

    The Big Life!

Actress Tameka Empson is actually taking a break from EastEnders for a while to tread the boards.

She’s starring in the revival of The Big Life at the Stratford East theatre in London. Tameka plays Mrs Aphrodite in the show, which is a musical retelling of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labours Lost mixed with the story of Windrush. It tells the story of four men who have arrived in the UK from the West Indies full of dreams and determined not to be distracted by love for three years. Of course, they soon meet four women who have other ideas!

Tameka co-wrote the play. She also starred in it when it was first on at the same theatre 20 years ago so it’s an exciting time for her.

Kim wasn’t happy about Howie going alone so she’s going too! (Credit: BBC)

Is Kim Fox leaving EastEnders for good?

But the good news for Kim Fox fans is the musical has a limited run and Tameka will be back in Walford before we know it.

On The One Show last night (Monday January 23) she told hosts Gethin Jones and Lauren Laverne: “Kim’s going to be all right, she’s going to be okay. She’s going off on a cruise with Howie and the kids. Don’t stress with her, she’s going to be fine.”

Then she added: “But it’s giving me a little bit of a break to do a project that I am so passionate about. It’s called The Big Life and some people say it was on 20 years ago. I say some time ago – somebody’s doing some kind of figures that don’t add up!” she joked.

“It is such a great musical and I really urge everybody to go and see it,” she continued. “It’s not only about the Windrush generation, but immigration throughout, people coming to the UK and their expectation, their dreams.”

Tameka was so excited by the upcoming production. She said: “I would dare anybody to come to this show and not be moved.” And in fact as she finished talking about the Windrush scandal she wiped her eyes as they welled with tears.

The Big Life is on at the Theatre Royal Stratford East from February 16 until March 30.

Suki and Eve caught out in EastEnders

As they reunited and planned their getaway, Suki and Eve couldn’t resist throwing caution to the wind on Tuesday night (November 28) when they kissed passionately in the Minute Mart.

However, later on Vinny informed his dad the till was £200 short and suspicious Nish went to check it out. He watched the CCTV to catch the culprit, but instead caught his wife in her embrace.

    Heather Peace addresses EastEnders fans

Writing on her Instagram page, Heather shared a picture of her and actress Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki, in their rainbow kimonos from Tuesday’s episode.

She reached out to thank the soap for giving her the opportunity to tell such a “precious” story.

“Sukeve reveal day,” she said alongside the image. “The secret is out! Nish knows!

“I love this story and the time and care that’s been taken by all the team at EastEnders.
Suki’s story has resonated with so many from what I’ve seen. The representation has meant a lot too through Eve presenting the way she does.

“So many thanks to the writers and producers for playing this story out in real time.

“It’s been a precious thing, certainly for me, having not seen a love story like this when I was growing up. I feel blessed to have worked alongside so many beautiful actors too who also care about story telling.”

She then tagged her fellow EastEnders stars who are prominent in the story, including Balvinder and Nish actor Navin Chowdhry.

Another said: “Heather. You guys are incredible. Your chemistry is off the charts. Love you guys.”

“Literally the best story line EVER! It has been done so beautifully. There aren’t many episodes of anything that has me screaming at the screen! Counting the hours until I can see the next episode. If they don’t make it out together – I will CRY!” shared someone else.

“This is by far the best love story I have ever seen and wish I had seen it when I was growing up. The time and the care that has been put into it has really, really paid off the writers have done amazing but you and Bal have taken the words and run with them and made me forget for a second that you ain’t an actual couple lol so thank you both,” said a fourth.
