Some people always want the newest version, but if you’re willing to compromise a little, you can have Sony’s noise-canceling WH-1000XM5 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) for just $300 from Amazon, a steep discount on their usual price. Even though their successor is available, they still offer an extremely good value and number among our favorite active noise-canceling headphones, particularly when you can save $100.

For years now, Sony has been pumping out generation after generation of the WH-1000XM Series headphones with active noise-canceling. Depending on the year, and the most recently released Bose headset, they typically land at or near the top of our roundup of the best noise-canceling headphones.
Not only do they have excellent noise-canceling performance, they also sound amazing. Our reviewer described them as “spacious and well defined, and consequently each and every individual strand of a recording is simple to identify and isolate.” They work well with a variety of different musical styles, thanks to a high level of detail, particularly in the midrange where other headphones sometimes struggle. The highs and lows are clear and deep too, allowing for top-tier sharpness and responsiveness.
They’re consistently light at just 250 grams and extremely comfortable, making them a great option for frequent flyers and noisy commutes, although they might be a little sweaty for working out. They have both Bluetooth and 3.5-mm connection options, and pair up capacitive touch controls with a great app. While not mandatory, the free app for both iOS and Android has settings for tweaking both the equalizer and the active noise-canceling settings.
The biggest difference that most folks will notice between the older XM5 and the newer XM6 is the foldable design, which helps the newer model squeeze into more compact carry-on bags. The XM5 include a compact carrying case though, which should be fine for medium-size backpacks and briefcases.
When we reviewed the Sony WH-1000XM5, we noted that the price relative to other models was the biggest downside, a complaint we’ve made about several iterations of the WH-1000XM headsets. Thankfully, the healthy discount here makes them a much more appealing option, particularly with the newer WH-1000XM6 (9/10, WIRED Review) still priced around $448.

The TCL QM6K is the best TV for most people, according to our expert reviewers who spend hours and hours testing all the models they can get their hands on. This deal matches the best price we’ve seen for the 65-inch model, though other sizes are also discounted right now. There’s a lot to love about it. It’s got a uniform screen, great black levels, natural colors, and decent off-axis viewing. The Google TV operating system is easy to use, and there are bonus features for gamers too. The only thing we overtly dislike is the sound quality, but then again, you should have a soundbar anyway.
I love this power bank so much that I purchased another at full price after misplacing my first one. I bring it with me to every festival. It’s compact, but heavy, and it has a display that shows you power output, battery life, the charge level, and more. It’s great because of its large 24,000-mAh capacity and up to 140-watt delivery, and because of its 3 ports (two USB-C, one USB-A). This deal is a match of the best we’ve seen for our top streaming stick pick. The Roku Streaming Stick Plus was just upgraded for 2025, and it’s great. It’s easy to set up, and the remote has voice controls so you can search by speaking. The interface is also very easy to navigate, and the gadget plugs right into the back of your TV’s HDMI port. If you’re on the hunt for a good 4K streaming stick, and you don’t care about the lack of Dolby Vision support, this is a solid deal.
This is a match of the best price we’ve seen for our favorite budget mesh Wi-Fi router. It supports Wi-Fi 6, which should still be fine for most people even though Wi-Fi 7 is already a thing. The Deco X20 has solid coverage and performance, especially with the three routers you’ll get with this deal (though singles and two-packs are also on sale if you’re in a small space). They’re easy to set up and they have optional parental controls and antivirus protection. You can also split the two 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz Wi-Fi bands, which will help if you’re running any smart home devices that explicitly require one or the other.
The Sony Bravia 7 II has been on sale for this price for a little while, but we have yet to see it drop lower. It’s in our Best TVs buying guide as the pick with the most immersive picture. It has natural yet vivid colors and excellent picture processing. Reviewer Ryan Waniata says it renders 4K and HD scenes “so clearly you’ll feel like they’re going to spill into your living room.” It could have better black levels and a few more ports, but it’s still an excellent set, especially at this price.
The iPad Air is our favorite upgrade iPad. If you need an iPad that you can rely on for important tasks like work or school, this is a very safe bet. The M3 chip makes graphics-intensive tasks look great, and the design is nice and modern with Touch ID built into the power button and USB-C charging. This tablet can handle multiple tasks running in the background and it’ll get you about 10 hours of battery life per charge. The Apple iPad (A16, 2025) is the iPad we recommend for most people. It comes in fun colors like blue and yellow, and it’s plenty powerful to handle whatever you’ll throw at it on a day-to-day basis—from playing games to streaming videos to browsing the web. It doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, which may be a blessing or a curse depending on whom you ask. It does have a modern bezel design around its 11-inch LCD screen, plus USB-C charging, a Touch ID sensor, and two 12-megapixel cameras—one in the back and one for selfies. It also works with many of the best iPad accessories.
The M4 Apple MacBook Air is the best MacBook for most people. This is the cheapest we’ve seen it. Where some MacBooks are overkill for basic everyday tasks, this lightweight model can handle them with ease—and you won’t be paying for performance that you won’t use. It has a bright display, long battery life, and support for up to two external displays as well as Apple Intelligence. And while you might want something else if you’ll be doing heavy video editing or need a giant screen, the M4 MacBook Air will be capable of handling multiple Google Chrome tabs and apps running in the background. We do wish it had some more ports, but you can always use a USB hub to customize them further.
These are the best noise-canceling earbuds we’ve tried. They have excellent sound quality and battery life, plus solid control options, and they’re comfortable to wear for long periods of time. But where they truly excel is in active noise canceling. They can make a busy subway car or crowded airplane disappear entirely, lending you extra focus or decompression with no effort.

The Fitbit Charge 6 is the best fitness tracker overall. It has gone on sale for $100 in the past, but $125 is a pretty good deal, since it regularly jumps up to full price. It looks nice and has all the features most folks would want, like step counting, sleep tracking, stats on calories burned and workout effectiveness, heart rate readings, and insights into SpO2 levels. It also has a long-lasting battery and integrations with Google Wallet and Google Maps (though it can be used with iOS devices as well as Android). Some of the better features are locked behind a subscription that costs $10 per month, but the gadget still works without that subscription.
This is a great deal for the best electronic sleepbuds, and you’ll also get a free travel case. The earbuds are comfortable to wear while you’re sleeping, and they have 10-hour battery life and passive noise cancelation as well as excellent audio quality. There’s a solid companion app, too, which lets you choose from different Sleep Sounds and access biometric data (which we have not yet tested).
This is a solid deal on the best laptop docking station. The Satechi Dual Dock Stand slightly elevates your laptop for better ergonomics, and it has a collection of ports, including three monitor outputs, several USB ports, and a solid-state drive enclosure. Branch has made our favorite office chair for years. It has oodles of adjustable elements, including the arms, armrests, seat depth, recline, lumbar support, and seat tilt. The foam cushion seat is comfortable and the mesh backrest is supportive, too. The affordable price tag is icing on the cake, and while it doesn’t go on sale very often, you can save 10 percent until the sale ends with code LABORDAY.
If you don’t want to spring for the Ergonomic Chair Pro, this is the best budget-friendly office chair and an option worth considering. It’s very easy to assemble. and there are a few adjustable areas for a better fit—the armrests, seat, recline, and lumbar support can all be dialed in. There are some fun fabric color options, like blue and orange, though the upholstery does tend to pill and is a magnet for pet hair. Even with its quirks, it will be a definite upgrade if you’re still working from the ratty chair you picked up off Craigslist when you first built your home office.
Sitting all day is bad for you! This telescoping desk can be raised up as high as 45 inches, with simple setup and two available sizes. It comes in a few different finishes. The Steelcase Gesture is the best premium office chair. The prices vary slightly depending on the color you choose, but most of them are discounted for Labor Day weekend. The Gesture is comfortable, with a cushy seat and elegant adjustment options. Assembly is easy, and there’s a 12-year warranty. Should you be looking for an office chair upgrade, and you want something a bit more luxurious than the Branch models we’ve mentioned, this is a choice worth considering.
This coupon code gets you 20 percent off almost everything on Humanscale’s website. Humanscale makes some of the best office chairs. The Freedom Headrest is the best reclining office chair, and it drops from $1,743 to $1,394 with code SEMIANNUAL20. Editor Julian Chokkattu said, “This chair gracefully supports my back like a mother gently laying a baby in a crib.” We also like the Humanscale Path, which is great for tight spaces and even comes in armless versions. It falls from $1,294 to $1,035 after code.
Ruggable makes our favorite machine-washable rugs. Each rug is a two-piece system, with a rug pad and a cover that attaches via Velcro. You can easily take the cover off and pop it in the washing machine, or switch it out for another Ruggable cover to redecorate without having to buy a new rug entirely. The covers are water- and stain-resistant, too. Nearly everything on the website is 25 percent off right now. Our favorite, the Pamir Ivory Multicolor Rug, is on sale for $277 ($92 off) in the 6×9 style.
There aren’t many things I’ve tested for work that I reach for every day. This is one of them. The ChomChom pet hair remover is beloved among almost all of the pet parents on the WIRED Reviews team. Simply swipe it back and forth across your furniture or carpets and be amazed at how much hair it collects. It works fast, it’s easy to empty, and it’s endlessly reusable. The price is right, too, coming within $7 of the lowest we’ve tracked.

The Traeger Woodridge Pro is an excellent smoker. It’s user-friendly, offering consistent temperature control with just a few buttons. It’s easy to clean when your cookout is over. It can reach temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and down to 180. We wish the app was a bit more detailed, but it isn’t required to produce delicious meals. (Seriously, just look at the photos in this review.)
Mouth tape isn’t for everyone, but Dream is the best we’ve tried. It’s soft, flexible, and breathable, and it stays secure throughout the night. It also doesn’t drop in price very often. If you want to try it out but want to spend a little less, we also liked the Dream Full mouth tape that’s on sale today too.
Ettitude makes the best cooling bamboo sheets. This sheet set feels soft and silky, but stays cool to the touch, making it a great option for hot sleepers. The sheets are breathable and lightweight, and they’re available in seven different colors to match your bedroom decor. There’s also a 60-day trial period so you can make sure you like them before committing.
The Silk & Snow S&S Organic Mattress is our favorite organic latex mattress. The latex-wrapped coils help to alleviate any tension or pressure points while you’re sleeping, and it’s especially great for side sleepers. The Buffy Breeze is one of my favorite comforters. It’s been on my bed since I started testing it more than 3 years ago. It’s cooling in the summer, and its lightweight warmth is just the right amount of comfy for hot nights. But in the winter, it still works well to keep you warm, especially if you throw another blanket on top of it. It isn’t officially marketed as down alternative, but I do like it as an alternative to down.

This is one of our favorite organic mattresses and it’s extremely customizable. Each side can have different levels of firmness—so if you prefer firm, but your bed partner prefers soft, you’ll both be set. There’s a cover that zips over the whole system, and you get a 100-night trial to swap the latex layers out so you can fine-tune your desired firmness. The mattress is made of organic cotton, latex, and wool, and it has the certifications we look for in organic mattresses.
This is one of the best down comforters I’ve tried, and you can get it on sale ahead of the colder months ahead. It has that classic, hotel-like, crinkly, starchy shell, with fluffy down insides that stay inside. The baffle box construction and Hutterite down clusters help ensure that you never have to worry about your blanket’s insulation shifting around in your sleep. It stays warm all night, and it’s soft enough that you don’t really need a duvet cover.
This is the bed frame I’m currently using, and I love it very much. Assembly wasn’t my favorite, but once I got it all put together, I fell in love. It has a drawer at the foot of the bed that’s handy for storing extra linens or off-season clothing, and it’s sturdy too. I also appreciate that the platform lets me maneuver my mattress easily so I don’t have to fight to change my sheets.

This well-made, luxurious sofa is one of the best couches you can buy online. Operations manager Scott Gilbertson called it the best-looking and most comfortable couch he’s ever sat on. The website lets you order swatches and pick the layout you want, and you can even get a full-size printout to make sure the couch will look right in your living space. There are dozens of options for upholstery, legs, and cushion fill, so you can create the couch of your dreams. For a more affordable option, we also like the Benchmade Modern Laguna (pictured above) on sale for $2,397 ($599 off). “My family and I have been sitting on it for a year and a half now, and the single cushion (as well as the rest of the couch’s cushions) is comfortable and supportive,” says reviewer Nena Farrell.
We’ve recommended the Albany Park Barton in our couch buying guide for years. It’s soft and supportive, with deep seats and wide arms so you can put down your coffee cup or phone without needing an extra table. There are many different fabrics to choose from, and you can choose the stain of the wooden legs too. Assembly wasn’t too difficult—just be prepared to take out a lot of recycling afterward. This is the best budget-friendly travel pillow. The outside is covered in a soft fabric made with recycled water bottles, and the memory foam construction is nice and firm, with high sides so you can easily lean your head toward your shoulder. It also has a chin strap to prevent your head from falling forward. Make sure you choose the option with the carrying case if that’s important to you!
I first started using this when I formerly tested meal kits for WIRED, and I still reach for it nearly every time I process produce in my kitchen. It’s oversized, measuring 12 by 16 inches, and it doesn’t slip around on my countertops. I like the built-in juice groove and the fact that I can still store it in my cupboards even though it’s bigger than standard cutting boards. It has zero knife damage, is BPA-free, and is dishwasher-safe.

The Solo Stove Bonfire is the best fire pit. And what better time to pick one up than ahead of autumn, AKA the best time to hold a backyard campfire? It’s small enough to tote around if needed, but large enough to comfortably gather around with a handful of friends. The removable ash pan makes cleanup easier, and the air holes along the top help cut down on smoke. We do think the lid is a worthwhile accessory, and you can get it in a bundle with a base plate and a stand for an extra $100. There are many other accessories available that are on sale right now, too—but the lid is the most essential.
Curie’s natural deodorant is an honorable mention in our buying guide. It caused me some irritation when I first started using it, but a few of my friends and family members really like the formula. It smells great and applies evenly, though you might experience some clothing stains if you apply it under a black t-shirt. The scent doesn’t stick around all day, but it does smell nice when first applied. And that might be a benefit if you want odor protection without a strong scent.

When I tried Hexclad, I liked it just fine. Really! A score of 5 is “recommended with reservations.” It’s important to know what you’re getting, and what you’re getting is easy-to-clean cookware that works fine. I’d prefer to use two separate pans—a nonstick and a stainless steel—but I understand that some people want a one-and-done cooking companion. These frying pans are worth considering on sale, like they are right now. You’ll get three pans in 12-, 10-, and 8-inch sizes, plus their matching lids. The Ooni Volt is the very best electric pizza oven. It can heat up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit, and the triple-pane glass door always lets you see what’s going on. And while you might miss out on some of the vibes that come with a fire-powered oven, the Volt can safely be used indoors and outdoors—so you won’t have to brave the coming winter chill (or supply propane refills) to get your paws on some good ‘za.
Hydroviv makes one of the best shower water filters we’ve tested. The bacteriostatic showerhead was able to filter total chlorine down to undetectable levels in reviewer Matthew Korfhage’schloramine-treated water. This deal is for the automatically replenishing subscription bundle. Hydroviv says you should replace filters every six months, but you can pause or cancel that subscription if you decide you want to order them separately.
Our favorite feeder pet camera goes on sale relatively often, but this is still a solid deal since it regularly jumps up to full price. Outdoor and Wellness Deals

This is the best pickleball paddle if you play every day (or on a very regular basis). The closed-cell foam core is durable (it even has a lifetime warranty!) and can handle intense temperatures. While it might take some getting used to, resident pickleball expert Martin Cizmar says this is the paddle he reaches for most often. It has a soft, forgiving feel and absorbs vibration, making it particularly useful for defensive plays.
Our favorite electric scooter, the Apollo Go, manages to strike an excellent balance between features and price. It weighs 46 pounds and has maximum speeds of 28 miles per hour, though you can tweak top speed, brake strength, and acceleration response in the app. It also has a few extra features like turn signals, a bell, and self-healing tires. We haven’t seen it sell for less.
The Helinox Chair One (re) is an excellent camping chair. It’s a refresh of the cult favorite original, and it has a higher sitting position. It’s still lightweight, packable, and portable. These chairs are surprisingly comfortable and easy to put together. This is the best price we’ve seen for it. We recommend a few other Helinox options in our buying guide, which are also on sale right now.
The XPress 750 is our favorite ebike for folks on a budget. The frame is comfortable and the pedaling feels natural, so it feels more like a classic bike and less like a lean, mean electric machine. The range could be better, but you’ll have no trouble zooming around your neighborhood at top speeds of 28 mph. And the LCD display and controls are simple and easy to use, so this is an especially great bike for beginners.

Breeo makes the best upgrade firepit. The American-made pit has a fire bowl that’s 2 feet wide, so it’ll fit pre-cut wood, and there are a ton of accessories available. (We especially like the live-fire pizza oven, on sale for $723—a $128 discount). The hefty, sturdy base and natural patina (on the Corten steel option) make this a centerpiece worthy of any backyard.
WIRED reviewer Julian Chokkattu tested and loved this outdoor couch and armchair set. The couches come with OuterShell, which is a built-in cover that helps protect the couch cushions from the elements (and stray bird poops). The performance fabric is made from recyclable materials, and the covers are machine washable. Julian still has to see how the couch fares in New York winters, but so far, it’s sturdy and comfortable. We like that the couch is made with Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood. It’s also backed by a 10-year warranty and available in four different fabric options.
This is a match of the best price we’ve seen for our favorite Theragun. It’s the same model used by many professional sports teams, and it has heat therapy as well as an optional cold therapy attachment (the latter is a separate purchase). There’s a vibration head, LED light therapy, and a guided breathwork option too. If you want to invest in your recovery routine, this is a good way to do it.
The Therabody TheraFace Mask is an LED face mask with vibration. It has red, blue, and near-infrared LEDs, plus vibration motors to help you relax during your three- or nine-minute sessions. We like the cordless, hands-free design, though we wish it had a few more bells and whistles like app controls or a battery indicator. If you’ve been eyeing it, though, it rarely gets cheaper than it is right now.

If you’re a hot sleeper, I can’t recommend these sheets enough, and they’re on sale right now. They feel like silky bamboo since they’re made with Tencel lyocell, but are added together with a proprietary blend of viscose designed to keep you cool. That blend includes phase change material, or PCM, to absorb heat. It’s added to the sheets as a gel, but even after dozens of uses and washes (as two hot sleepers, my husband and I always grab these sheets when I’m not testing something new!), it’s still holding up great and keeping us cool. The Razer Blade 16 is the best gaming laptop overall. It’s got a sleek, clean aesthetic with thin bezels, a fantastic keyboard, a nice OLED screen, and a slim footprint. And while the 16 doesn’t feel obtrusive to travel with, it doesn’t skimp on performance. Graphics options range all the way up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, and base storage starts at 1 terabyte—though, in a first for Razer, you can only choose an AMD CPU. This is a match of the best price we’ve seen for our favorite budget mesh Wi-Fi router. It supports Wi-Fi 6, which should still be fine for most people even though Wi-Fi 7 is already a thing. The Deco X20 has solid coverage and performance, especially with the three routers you’ll get with this deal (though singles and two-packs are also on sale if you’re in a small space). They’re easy to set up and they have optional parental controls and antivirus protection. You can also split the two 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz Wi-Fi bands, which will help if you’re running any smart home devices that explicitly require one or the other.
The Sony Bravia 7 II has been on sale for this price for a little while, but we have yet to see it drop lower. It’s in our Best TVs buying guide as the pick with the most immersive picture. It has natural yet vivid colors and excellent picture processing. Reviewer Ryan Waniata says it renders 4K and HD scenes “so clearly you’ll feel like they’re going to spill into your living room.” It could have better black levels and a few more ports, but it’s still an excellent set, especially at this price.

The Apple iPad (A16, 2025) is the iPad we recommend for most people. It comes in fun colors like blue and yellow, and it’s plenty powerful to handle whatever you’ll throw at it on a day-to-day basis—from playing games to streaming videos to browsing the web. It doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, which may be a blessing or a curse depending on whom you ask. It does have a modern bezel design around its 11-inch LCD screen, plus USB-C charging, a Touch ID sensor, and two 12-megapixel cameras—one in the back and one for selfies. It also works with many of the best iPad accessories.
The M4 Apple MacBook Air is the best MacBook for most people. This is the cheapest we’ve seen it. Where some MacBooks are overkill for basic everyday tasks, this lightweight model can handle them with ease—and you won’t be paying for performance that you won’t use. It has a bright display, long battery life, and support for up to two external displays as well as Apple Intelligence. And while you might want something else if you’ll be doing heavy video editing or need a giant screen, the M4 MacBook Air will be capable of handling multiple Google Chrome tabs and apps running in the background. We do wish it had some more ports, but you can always use a USB hub to customize them further.
These are the best noise-canceling earbuds we’ve tried. They have excellent sound quality and battery life, plus solid control options, and they’re comfortable to wear for long periods of time. But where they truly excel is in active noise canceling. They can make a busy subway car or crowded airplane disappear entirely, lending you extra focus or decompression with no effort.

The Fitbit Charge 6 is the best fitness tracker overall. It has gone on sale for $100 in the past, but $125 is a pretty good deal, since it regularly jumps up to full price. It looks nice and has all the features most folks would want, like step counting, sleep tracking, stats on calories burned and workout effectiveness, heart rate readings, and insights into SpO2 levels. It also has a long-lasting battery and integrations with Google Wallet and Google Maps (though it can be used with iOS devices as well as Android). Some of the better features are locked behind a subscription that costs $10 per month, but the gadget still works without that subscription.
This is a great deal for the best electronic sleepbuds, and you’ll also get a free travel case. The earbuds are comfortable to wear while you’re sleeping, and they have 10-hour battery life and passive noise cancelation as well as excellent audio quality. There’s a solid companion app, too, which lets you choose from different Sleep Sounds and access biometric data (which we have not yet tested).
This is a solid deal on the best laptop docking station. The Satechi Dual Dock Stand slightly elevates your laptop for better ergonomics, and it has a collection of ports, including three monitor outputs, several USB ports, and a solid-state drive enclosure. Home and Kitchen Deals

Branch has made our favorite office chair for years. It has oodles of adjustable elements, including the arms, armrests, seat depth, recline, lumbar support, and seat tilt. The foam cushion seat is comfortable and the mesh backrest is supportive, too. The affordable price tag is icing on the cake, and while it doesn’t go on sale very often, you can save 10 percent until the sale ends with code LABORDAY.
If you don’t want to spring for the Ergonomic Chair Pro, this is the best budget-friendly office chair and an option worth considering. It’s very easy to assemble. and there are a few adjustable areas for a better fit—the armrests, seat, recline, and lumbar support can all be dialed in. There are some fun fabric color options, like blue and orange, though the upholstery does tend to pill and is a magnet for pet hair. Even with its quirks, it will be a definite upgrade if you’re still working from the ratty chair you picked up off Craigslist when you first built your home office.
Sitting all day is bad for you! This telescoping desk can be raised up as high as 45 inches, with simple setup and two available sizes. It comes in a few different finishes. This coupon code gets you 20 percent off almost everything on Humanscale’s website. Humanscale makes some of the best office chairs. The Freedom Headrest is the best reclining office chair, and it drops from $1,743 to $1,394 with code SEMIANNUAL20. Editor Julian Chokkattu said, “This chair gracefully supports my back like a mother gently laying a baby in a crib.” We also like the Humanscale Path, which is great for tight spaces and even comes in armless versions. It falls from $1,294 to $1,035 after code.

The sheets are breathable and lightweight, and they’re available in seven different colors to match your bedroom decor. Prefer percale? This is the best lightweight percale cooling sheet set. The sheets are supremely breathable and soft, so they’re perfect for summer or particularly hot sleepers. The Buffy Breeze is one of my favorite comforters. It’s been on my bed since I started testing it more than 3 years ago. It’s cooling in the summer, and its lightweight warmth is just the right amount of comfy for hot nights. But in the winter, it still works well to keep you warm, especially if you throw another blanket on top of it. It isn’t officially marketed as down alternative, but I do like it as an alternative to down.

This is one of our favorite organic mattresses and it’s extremely customizable. This is the bed frame I’m currently using, and I love it very much. Assembly wasn’t my favorite, but once I got it all put together, I fell in love. It has a drawer at the foot of the bed that’s handy for storing extra linens or off-season clothing, and it’s sturdy too. I also appreciate that the platform lets me maneuver my mattress easily so I don’t have to fight to change my sheets.

This well-made, luxurious sofa is one of the best couches you can buy online. Operations manager Scott Gilbertson called it the best-looking and most comfortable couch he’s ever sat on. The website lets you order swatches and pick the layout you want, and you can even get a full-size printout to make sure the couch will look right in your living space. There are dozens of options for upholstery, legs, and cushion fill, so you can create the couch of your dreams. For a more affordable option, we also like the Benchmade Modern Laguna (pictured above) on sale for $2,397 ($599 off). “My family and I have been sitting on it for a year and a half now, and the single cushion (as well as the rest of the couch’s cushions) is comfortable and supportive,” says reviewer Nena Farrell.
We’ve recommended the Albany Park Barton in our couch buying guide for years. It’s soft and supportive, with deep seats and wide arms so you can put down your coffee cup or phone without needing an extra table. There are many different fabrics to choose from, and you can choose the stain of the wooden legs too. Assembly wasn’t too difficult—just be prepared to take out a lot of recycling afterward. The couch also comes with a 30-day trial so you can try it before committing.
This sale runs the gamut from kitchenware and mattress toppers to bedding, towels, and furniture. We haven’t tested most of the brands in the sale, but if you’re shopping for something like guest bedroom linens or new dining room chairs, you might find what you’re looking for.

It’s custom-made for you, with dozens of options and finishes available (including bright pink velvet, which I chose.) This is the best budget-friendly travel pillow. The outside is covered in a soft fabric made with recycled water bottles, and the memory foam construction is nice and firm, with high sides so you can easily lean your head toward your shoulder. It also has a chin strap to prevent your head from falling forward. Make sure you choose the option with the carrying case if that’s important to you!
I first started using this when I formerly tested meal kits for WIRED, and I still reach for it nearly every time I process produce in my kitchen. It’s oversized, measuring 12 by 16 inches, and it doesn’t slip around on my countertops. I like the built-in juice groove and the fact that I can still store it in my cupboards even though it’s bigger than standard cutting boards. It has zero knife damage, is BPA-free, and is dishwasher-safe.

When I tried Hexclad, I liked it just fine. Really! A score of 5 is “recommended with reservations.” It’s important to know what you’re getting, and what you’re getting is easy-to-clean cookware that works fine. I’d prefer to use two separate pans—a nonstick and a stainless steel—but I understand that some people want a one-and-done cooking companion. These frying pans are worth considering on sale, like they are right now. You’ll get three pans in 12-, 10-, and 8-inch sizes, plus their matching lids. It has some quirks, like a lid that requires two hands to open and the machine’s tendency to make a loud whirring noise as it works. But it’s a great entry-level kitchen composter, and it doesn’t drop in price very often.

The Ooni Volt is the very best electric pizza oven. It can heat up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit, and the triple-pane glass door always lets you see what’s going on. And while you might miss out on some of the vibes that come with a fire-powered oven, the Volt can safely be used indoors and outdoors—so you won’t have to brave the coming winter chill (or supply propane refills) to get your paws on some good ‘za.
Hydroviv makes one of the best shower water filters we’ve tested. The bacteriostatic showerhead was able to filter total chlorine down to undetectable levels in reviewer Matthew Korfhage’schloramine-treated water. This deal is for the automatically replenishing subscription bundle. Hydroviv says you should replace filters every six months, but you can pause or cancel that subscription if you decide you want to order them separately.
Our favorite feeder pet camera goes on sale relatively often, but this is still a solid deal since it regularly jumps up to full price. It has 1080p streaming video, night vision up to 30 feet, two-way audio, and 8x zoom. What sets this camera apart is its treat- or food-dispensing capabilities. Fill up the container with your pet’s chosen treats, and you can use the app to toss them remotely. The best features, like motion and sound alerts and 90 days of video storage, are locked behind a Petcube Care subscription which costs $10 per month.
Outdoor and Wellness Deals

Our favorite electric scooter, the Apollo Go, manages to strike an excellent balance between features and price. It weighs 46 pounds and has maximum speeds of 28 miles per hour, though you can tweak top speed, brake strength, and acceleration response in the app. It also has a few extra features like turn signals, a bell, and self-healing tires. We haven’t seen it sell for less.
The XPress 750 is our favorite ebike for folks on a budget. The frame is comfortable and the pedaling feels natural, so it feels more like a classic bike and less like a lean, mean electric machine. The range could be better, but you’ll have no trouble zooming around your neighborhood at top speeds of 28 mph. And the LCD display and controls are simple and easy to use, so this is an especially great bike for beginners.

Breeo makes the best upgrade firepit. The American-made pit has a fire bowl that’s 2 feet wide, so it’ll fit pre-cut wood, and there are a ton of accessories available. (We especially like the live-fire pizza oven, on sale for $723—a $128 discount). The hefty, sturdy base and natural patina (on the Corten steel option) make this a centerpiece worthy of any backyard.
WIRED reviewer Julian Chokkattu tested and loved this outdoor couch and armchair set. The couches come with OuterShell, which is a built-in cover that helps protect the couch cushions from the elements (and stray bird poops). The performance fabric is made from recyclable materials, and the covers are machine washable. Julian still has to see how the couch fares in New York winters, but so far, it’s sturdy and comfortable. We like that the couch is made with Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood. It’s also backed by a 10-year warranty and available in four different fabric options.
This is a match of the best price we’ve seen for our favorite Theragun. It’s the same model used by many professional sports teams, and it has heat therapy as well as an optional cold therapy attachment (the latter is a separate purchase). There’s a vibration head, LED light therapy, and a guided breathwork option too. If you want to invest in your recovery routine, this is a good way to do it.
The Therabody TheraFace Mask is an LED face mask with vibration. It has red, blue, and near-infrared LEDs, plus vibration motors to help you relax during your three- or nine-minute sessions. We like the cordless, hands-free design, though we wish it had a few more bells and whistles like app controls or a battery indicator. If you’ve been eyeing it, though, it rarely gets cheaper than it is right now.

WIRED reviewer Martin Cizmar liked this full-featured cold plunge tub almost as much as his top pick, and it’s significantly cheaper. It has a sleek, modern aesthetic, and the acrylic walls are easy to clean. We regret to inform you that while it is unpleasant to submerge yourself in near-freezing water, it has a number of notable health and wellness benefits that our testers have personally felt. If you want a great-looking cold plunge tub and you don’t want to overpay for it, this deal is worth checking out.
Looking to upgrade your wireless earbuds without reaching deep into your wallet? Our favorite earbuds for most people, the Nothing Ear (a) (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are currently marked down to just $79 when you buy them from Nothing directly. While the first-party offerings from both Apple and Google make for compelling options, the Nothing Ear (a) are great for both sides of the aisle. They feature painless pairing with either iOS or Android devices and have great touch controls for managing your music or volume. They’re also among the best for battery life, especially for the price, reaching 5.5 hours of play time even with noise-canceling.
The sound quality is really impressive, with custom-made 11-mm drivers that have a sound profile our reviewer described as “crip, clear, and dynamic,” so they’re perfect for listening to more open and delicate music. Jazz, classical, and acoustic songs all shine on the Nothing Ear (a), but you can use them for pop and rock and be just as happy.
They also feature impressive noise-canceling tech, with a full 45 decibels of sound reduction, which is great if you often find yourself trying to catch up on your podcasts on a busy subway. Our reviewer even appreciated them for traveling, noting that they do a good job of reducing the hum of an airplane engine.
There’s a slightly more expensive option as well, the Nothing Ear, which is currently on sale for just $99 and adds wireless charging to the case, plus a ceramic driver. That may sound appealing, but in practice, WIRED writer Parker Hall didn’t necessarily note a huge difference in performance, and the battery life is a little bit worse as a result, so we think the Nothing Ear (a) are a better value.
For under $100, the Nothing Ear (a) provide a remarkable amount of value, with great audio quality for music, excellent noise-canceling, and a platform-agnostic outlook that’s sure to appeal to anyone with lots of different devices. They easily compete with wireless earbuds at twice the price, earning them the top spot on our favorite wireless earbuds roundup.

The big draw here is spatial audio, which our team feels performs even better than Apple’s Homepod (5/10, WIRED Review) when it comes to filling a room with sound. That’s largely thanks to the array of drivers, including six speakers, four tweeters, and a pair of mid/bass drivers all packed into one vaguely robot-butt-shaped device.
We also appreciate that the Era 300 has physical controls, in case you need to make quick adjustments without pulling out your phone. There’s a volume slider, track controls, and a button to activate either Amazon Alexa or the Sonos Voice Control. There’s also Bluetooth pairing if you want to skip the Sonos app altogether and just hook your phone up directly.
The app (now finally working again after some woes last year) provides a lot of value, though, letting you connect all of your speakers together for whole home audio, and it supports distinct speaker types, like soundbars and bookshelf speakers. Sonos speakers are easy to set up and configure, have a wide support for streaming services and smart home options, and just sound great. They even found their way onto our favorite Bluetooth speakers list, despite having their own protocol for home audio.
Our reviewer was particularly impressed with the audio quality on the Era 300, saying it sounded detailed and expressive whether they were listening to music or spoken word and calling it a “poised and eloquent listen.” Make sure to check out the full review for more details on why we like this speaker over the many other Sonos options.
If you want to double up for true multichannel surround sound, you can pick up two speakers as a bundle, but you won’t save any cash, just packaging. The big downside to Sonos speakers is that they tend to be expensive, but if you’re looking to get started in the ecosystem and have a great television to pair it with, these are worth a serious look.

The Apple education discount isn’t just for students. Teachers can get 10 percent off Apple hardware. The company usually sweetens the deals in the fall. In 2025, you can get free accessories like AirPods or a Magic Keyboard with your iMac, iPad, or MacBook purchase.
Dell offers discounts to teachers, but the sign-up process is a bit confusing. You’ll need to sign in or sign up for a free Dell Rewards account. Navigate to your Membership settings, then click Verify Teacher Status to verify through SheerID. You’ll get an extra 10 percent off select PCs, monitors, and accessories, plus up to 9 percent back in rewards.
Sign up for HP education discounts by verifying your .edu email address. HP says eligible shoppers can save up to 40 percent on select products, with “special discounts” for students, parents, and faculty. Find more HP coupon codes here.
Lenovo switches its discounts on a regular basis, but students and teachers can get at least 5 percent off on top of any seasonal savings. Accounts are free and verified via ID Me.

Samsung’s program is for students, parents, and educators, who can get up to 30 percent off laptops, tablets, phones, and other gadgets. This software is especially enticing for music creators, though if you’ve been considering uploading some fun projects to SoundCloud, it might be worth your while. Students and educators can use a valid .edu email address to get free access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams, plus some Microsoft AI tools. There are free alternatives to Microsoft Office products, but if you use the suite frequently, this deal is worth considering.
Adobe Creative Cloud includes more than 20 apps, like Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Lightroom, Firefly AI tools, and more. You also get 100 GB of cloud storage. It’s usually $70 a month, but students and educators can get it for $30 monthly with a free one-month trial. After a year, the $30 price raises to $40, but it’s a good discount if you can’t access needed Adobe apps another way. This discount can be applied to monthly or annual plan purchases.

This bundle includes licenses for Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and more. It’s tailored to video and music creators and costs $200. Considering that Final Cut Pro sells for $300 on its own, this bundle is a worthwhile purchase if you plan on buying any of these software licenses individually.
Prezi offers a slate of tools used to perfect digital presentations. It can be integrated with Zoom and Google Meet, along with other services. Prezi has two educational premium plans for students and educators that cost either $4 or $8 per month (usually $7 or $19 per month, respectively).
Teachers can save on select phone plans and home internet plans at Verizon when they verify eligibility through ID Me. Phone lines start at $25 per month, and Fios Home Internet starts at $45 per month. As is true with most mobile phone services, there are many terms and conditions. However, it’s still worth checking out, especially if you’re already a Verizon customer. These Verizon promo codes may also be of use.
Educators can provide their employee ID to get discounts on wireless services through AT&T. The discounts fluctuate often, but you can save on various phones, phone plans, and home internet plans. WIRED also has AT&T promo codes that may be helpful.

We’re biased, but a year of unlimited digital access to WIRED costs $24 per year. REI’s Base Camp tent is WIRED’s favorite car camping tent. It’s extremely well designed and proved plenty weatherproof in our testing. The traditional dome tent design, with two crossed poles and two side poles, holds up well in wind, and the tent floor is high-quality 150-denier (150D) polyester. There’s loads of storage pockets, double doors, great vents, and huge windows, making it comfortable even in summer heat.
The Wonderland 6 is REI’s replacement for the Kingdom 6 and looks to be, for the most part, very similar. We haven’t tested this one, but my almost 20-year-old Kingdom 6 is still going strong. For the most part, it’s made of the very same ripstop nylon used in the Wonderland. With plenty of mesh, this will have better ventilation than the Base Camp above, but the rainfly doesn’t come as low and the hoop design isn’t quite a strong. For summer camping, though, this is a great option.
The REI Half Dome 2 is the best budget two-person backpacking tent. We’ve toted it on many a backpacking trip and found it to be plenty sturdy, quick to set up, and capable of fitting two people and their gear. It even comes with a footprint (which I never bother with, but it’s nice to have it if you have to deal with prickers or pointy rocks). I really like the color options this year too, which blend in with its surroundings rather than stand out.
The Big Agnes Copper Spur series is our top pick for freestanding ultralight tents. This is a high-quality, well-designed tent that’s lightweight, easy to set up, and roomy enough to be liveable in the backcountry. The “awning” design (with trekking poles or sticks) is a nice extra and the mix of 15D nylon, and 20D ripstop, while to feels fragile, as held up well over time.
I’ve only spent two nights in this tent, but so far it’s my favorite solo freestanding tent. I like the generous amount of mesh at the top, which provides some nice ventilation on warm summer nights and is perfect for falling asleep under the stars when the weather permits. The Osmo fabric continues to live up to the hype, with much less water absorption than nylon tents in rainy weather, and there’s a good amount of room for storing all your stuff. I just started testing this pack this summer as part of an upcoming ultralight backpack guide. It’s very comfortable, carrying a 25-pound load without issue. I haven’t lived out of it for more than a night yet, but so far I like it, and it’s very reasonably priced. Interestingly, there’s a comment on REI saying that you’re better off going with the Flash 55 and just removing the top lid to save some weight. That’ll save you some cash right now, as the Flash 55 is also on sale for $139 ($50 off).
Nemo’s Resolve is a great pack that incorporates a low-waste footprint into the design. It uses solution-dyed fabrics, and eschews straps and buckles in favor of bungees and pull-tabs. This does make adjusting it fussier, but once you’re used to it and have the fit dialed in, it’s not an issue. The Resolve is a comfortable pack. While technically frameless, it feels like it has some structure. and it sits nice and high on your back. At 1 pound, 15 ounces, it’s also pretty light.
The Osprey Talon is perhaps the most tried-and-true day-hiking pack on the market, and for good reason. It’s light and comfortable, and the 33L capacity can swallow a ton of gear and haul it well. This 33L iteration weighs just 2 pounds, 12.5 ounces and sports 100D high-tenacity nylon that’s been coated with a non-PFAS DWR. Annoyingly, there’s no rain cover, but that omission aside, it’s a superb daypack.

REI’s Magma line of down gear are some of the best deals around. The Magma 15 sleeping bag has long been an affordable bag that’s perfect for shoulder season trips when the temp potentially swing lower than you’re expecting (the comfort rating is 21 F). There’s three lengths and three widths, making it easy to get something that’s perfect for your body, and the 850-fill-power goose down (bluesign-approved) packs down nice and small. If you don’t need the shoulder season coverage the Magma 30 is also on sale for $262 ($87 off), and makes a great summer sleeping bag.
I’ve just started testing this as a budget option for ultralight quilts. So far, I’ve been impressed. Like the sleeping bag version above, this is 95 percent of what you get from far more expensive bags. It’s light (20.3 ounces for the medium), packs down small, includes straps to keep it on your sleeping pad, can be completely unzipped and used like a comforter, or snapped up in a proper footbox on colder nights.
The Boost is a hybrid bag that would work for backpacking, but it can also be adjusted to a semi-retangular shape to make it more comfortable for car camping. There are arm holes, which makes reading in it a bit easier, and you can reach out to open or close the “WarmZip” center zipper, which cinches down the Boost to make it more like a traditional mummy bag.

The “mummy” design of mummy bags is about optimizing for warmth, not comfort. But let’s face it, most of us are not sleeping in situations where our survival is at stake. Therm-a-Rest has addressed this with what it calls W.A.R.M. fit, which stands for “with additional room for multiple” positions. Indeed, this bag is very roomy for a mummy design. I was able to draw my legs up when side-sleeping and spread out considerably more than with most bags. If you toss and turn through the nights and don’t want a quilt-style bag, this would be my top pick.
The Siesta is our favorite sleeping bag for car camping. You really shouldn’t need to spend a lot of money on a sleeping bag for car camping. Should your best efforts to cocoon warmth around you fail, there is, after all, a car to retreat to. That’s why we love the REI Siesta Hooded 20—it’s plenty warm and affordable. The Siesta’s rectangular cut makes it a roomier, more comfortable bag, and the 20-degree rating makes it enough for three-season trips, and unlike most rectangular bags, the Siesta has a hood, which helps on those cold nights. We also like that you can zip two Siestas together.
The NeoLoft is on the heavy side for someone who is mostly on the ultralight bandwagon, but I can’t seem to leave this pad at home. It’s just too comfortable. I’ve ended up carrying it on every trip I took this summer. It does weigh 25 ounces, but it packs down respectably small (about an inch thicker and taller than a Nalgene water bottle), and inflates to a massive 4.6-inch cushy pad that looks more like a luxury car-camping pad than something for the backcountry. I highly recommended it.
This is our favorite all-around backpacking sleeping pad. The Tensor All-Season hits all the sweet spots. It weighs an acceptably light 18.2 ounces, provides a good 3 inches of padding, and has an R rating of 5.4. That works out to the best padding and R rating for the weight. It’s also mercifully quiet—none of that annoying crunching noise every time you roll over.
If you’re gearing up for a winter trip, this is a good deal on a great winter sleeping pad. The Tensor Extreme Conditions has the highest R value of any pad we’ve tested, yet somehow manages to pack down to about the size of a Nalgene water bottle and weighs just 21 ounces (587 g). It’s one thing to claim an R value in lab tests though—a subzero night on the snow in a Wisconsin winter was the real test. This pad performed extremely well. Paired with a Z-Rest (see below) and a –10F sleeping bag, it kept me toasty down to 4 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Z-Lite Sol weighs next to nothing (10 ounces for the small), folds up small enough to lash to the outside of any pack, and can double as a chair, extra padding on cold nights, table, you name it. I am too old and too soft to be the sort of ultra-minimalist who gets by with just a Z-Lite for sleeping, but I still have one around on almost every backpacking trip I take.
The big fat camping pad that started the trend of big fat camping pads, the Megamat is a revelation. Trust me, you have no idea how comfortable tent camping can be until you sleep on a Megamat (or a MondoKing, see below). The 4-inch-thick Exped MegaMat is soft and surprisingly firm thanks to the closed-cell foam inside it, which relieves pressure and feels about as close to the mattress in your bedroom as you’re going to get in the woods.
When I sold my Jeep I had to give up my overlanding dreams and return to being a mere camper, but this Megamat, which cuts in to fit around the wheel wells of an SUV, has brought some of those overlanding dreams back to life. I throw this in the back of my wife’s Rav4, and while it’s not a perfect fit (check Exped to see which vehicles are supported), it’s close enough that I can get a good night’s sleep in the car.
If you get a Megamat, get this pump to go with it. I love this pump not so much for the inflating (though that is nice too, it speeds things up), but for the deflating. You can get all the air out and the mattress back in its stuff sack in no time with this thing. It’s well worth the money, especially on sale.
REI sales are the time to grab this upgrade stove. Sure, the basic version below gets the job done, but the cast iron burners of the Cascade are so much nicer and more durable. The griddle plate is also handy, perfect for cranking out pancakes. My only gripe is that I wish there were an option to get two griddles, as I find the grill not nearly as useful.
Walk around any campground in America and you’ll likely see dozens of these, for good reason. They’re easy to use, last a long time, and aren’t all that expensive. The 10,000-BTU burners are plenty to cook on just about any pan you have (I use cast iron pans on mine), and the electronic ignition means you don’t have to keep track of a lighter.
The MSR PocketRocket 2 is our top pick isopro backpacking stove for most people. It’s lightweight (2.6 ounces) but has wide enough arms to support just about any one- or two-person pot. It’s simple to use, even while wearing gloves, and it’s efficient—at sea level (OK, technically 947 feet), it boiled 1 liter of water in 3 minutes, 47 seconds. You can even get it to simmer, though the flame radius is small, so fancier cooking isn’t easy. See our next pick if that’s your goal.
If you want to cook in the backcountry, like legitimately cook with ingredients, not rehydrating food, the best stove I’ve tested is the Firebox Nano with the gas burner and diffusion plate. The Firebox Nano is a twig stove, so you have that option as well (I am fortunate to live somewhere I can use this feature), but with summer burn bans in many places, it’s really the gas burner and diffusion plate that are the centerpiece here. Together, they spread out the flame enough that cooking on a 10-inch pan is pretty much like cooking on my stove at home. This is a nearly miraculous achievement for a stove setup this small and light (8 ounces).
This is a backpacking must-have for me. It turns cleanup from a tedious chore to a couple of seconds’ work. I’ve even perfected cleaning burnt pans with it: Boil water in the pan to loosen the burnt bits and scrape them out. It’s not a massive savings, but you might as well grab one while it’s a couple bucks cheaper.
The word “ultralight” means different things to different people, and this pot may or may not qualify for you, but if you’re cooking for a group, this 3-liter pot is about as light as it gets. This is my go-to pot for family backpacking trips. The hard-anodized aluminum is sturdy and provides good heat transfer. The ceramic nonstick coating makes for easy cleanup (especially paired with the GSI scraper below). You can also nest the 2L version ($51) inside this one for more cooking options on the trail. If you want to go nuts with it, I haven’t tried it, but you can theoretically also nest the 1.3L version ($45) inside the 2L.

If you want to bring a chair backpacking, this is the one to get. It’s just about the lightest on the market at 18 ounces, and it packs down nice and small. Nemo also solved the main problem with all pole chairs: The included base pad keeps it from sinking in soft ground.
The thing to keep in mind when you shop REI brand gear is the company’s basic proposition: you get 90 percent of the designer item, for 70 percent of the price. It’s a strategy that works quite well and has generated some really great, affordable gear. This chair is a good example of that. It’s not as nice as the Nemo above, but it’s still comfortable (it does wobble a little, side to side when you move) and nearly half the price.
This camp chair is the coziest way to hang out around the fire. It is somewhat huge, heavy, and awkward to fold up and carry, but so long as you have room for it in your vehicle, there’s no better way to relax under the stars with your loved ones.
Patagonia’s Nano Puff series has been a hit since it launched years ago. If you want a technical midlayer that you can also wear around town, this is the jacket to get. The fill is synthetic, but it’s impressively warm and manages to stuff down almost like a down jacket.
REI’s Sahara Shade Hoodie offers UPF 50+ fabric (a polyester and spandex blend) to protect you from that high-altitude sun (or any sun). It’s soft and stretchy, so you have a good range of movement, and there are thumbholes in the sleeves to keep them from riding up and exposing your arms. The three-panel hood has a drawstring you can use the cinch it down and keep your neck covered as well.
The best budget rain jacket you can buy, REI’s Rainier Jacket is impressively waterproof and reasonably long-lasting for $70. The durable water repellent (DWR) is PFAS-free, but still pretty good. You also get taped seams and an adjustable hood, two nice features you generally don’t find in jackets this cheap.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of Darn Tough merino wool socks. There’s a bunch of styles and colors to choose from, but remember to go with more merino than not if you’re hoping to get several days out of them. Anything over 30 percent nylon starts to smell quickly in my testing.
The awesome wool shirt from Fjällräven is about as northwoods as it gets. It’s also nice and warm and soft, at least on the inside; my kids do not like the outside.
Arc’teryx’s Beta AR rain jacket is one of the burliest rain jackets I’ve tested. The Beta AR uses 40D fabric for most of the face, with reinforced 80D patches in high wear areas, all of it with Gore-Tex Pro 3L membrane. It’s been the only Gore-Tex jacket I’ve tested that hasn’t wetted out yet, and the pit zips provide excellent ventilation. At 1 lb. 0.3 oz. it’s not the lightest jacket out there, but you’d be hard pressed to find anything else this durable at this weight.
Paddleboard and Kayak Deals

This is my favorite paddleboard for lazy days at the lake. The LowRider Aero is large and stable, making it great for beginners. It’s surprisingly nimble and easy to steer too, with very good tracking ability. I also love the two-in-one kayak/SUP hybrid design, which means you can turn it into a full fishing rig with Bote’s various add-ons.
Oru’s foldable kayaks are genius—all the boat, none of the size. The Lake is light, reasonably fast, and the cheapest way to get into the world of folding kayaks. As with all Oru’s offerings, the Lake folds origami-style into a roughly 30-inch square that’s just 15 inches deep—small enough to fit in a car trunk or hall closet.
Back to school is always a great time to pick up a deal on a new laptop for the upcoming semester, and the Asus CX15 Chromebook is available at Walmart for $159. It may not be the fanciest option, but it has a sizable screen and a full keyboard with a numpad, all for less than the cost of a new textbook. If you’re just looking for a no-frills Chromebook for occasional web-based work and a slightly larger display, this is a great deal.

When it comes to performance, the CX15 isn’t terribly exciting, with an Intel Celeron N4500 and 4 GB of memory. Fortunately, that should be fine for regular note-taking, email sending, and essay editing, with most of that work happening in your browser anyway. The extra-large 15-inch screen is great for putting two windows next to each other while getting some work done, or for watching a movie in the evening, even if the color accuracy isn’t the best.
The Chromebook CX15 is available in two colors, a classic and professional Pure Gray as well as a more fun and friendly Fabric Blue. Both feature the full-size keyboard, which is going to make writing out long paragraphs more comfortable, and the full numpad for you math and science nerds out there. The touchpad isn’t our favorite, with some occasional clunkiness, but you could do a lot worse for the price.
It has only 120 GB of internal storage, which is fairly common for Chromebooks, because it’s expected you’ll lean heavily on Google’s cloud storage options. To that end, the Asus Chromebook CX15 includes three months of the Google One AI Premium Plan, which includes 2 TB of cloud storage as well as a variety of AI-enhanced tools. You’ll also get three months of YouTube Premium, which gives you an ad-free experience while watching videos and listening to music.

For the next couple of weeks, we’ll be cruising and perusing for the latest true discounts on the gear we recommend to our friends—and rounding them all up for you below.
The Sony Bravia 7 II has been on sale for this price for a little while, but we have yet to see it drop lower. It’s in our Best TVs buying guide as the pick with the most immersive picture. It has natural yet vivid colors and excellent picture processing. Reviewer Ryan Waniata says it renders 4K and HD scenes “so clearly you’ll feel like they’re going to spill into your living room.” It could have better black levels and a few more ports, but it’s still an excellent set, especially at this price.
Our favorite electric scooter, the Apollo Go manages to strike an excellent balance between features and price. It weighs 46 pounds and has maximum speeds of 28 miles per hour, though you can tweak top speed, brake strength, and acceleration response in the app. It also has a few extra features like turn signals, a bell, and self-healing tires. We haven’t seen it sell for less.
This is the best price we’ve seen thus far for our favorite Android tablet. It’s not a high-performance powerhouse, but it can handle the tasks that most people need. You can watch videos (even outdoors in bright sunlight), play most games, and use the included stylus to take notes or efficiently browse the web. The battery lasts about 20 hours and only takes about 100 minutes to recharge.

The Apple iPad (A16, 2025) is the iPad we recommend for most people. It comes in fun colors like blue and yellow, and it’s plenty powerful to handle whatever you’ll throw at it on a day-to-day basis—from playing games to streaming videos to browsing the web. It doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, which may be a blessing or a curse depending on who you ask. It does have a modern bezel design around its 11-inch LCD screen, plus USB-C charging, a Touch ID sensor, and two 12-megapixel cameras—one in the back and one for selfies. It also works with many of the best iPad accessories.
The M4 Apple MacBook Air is the best MacBook for most people. This is the cheapest we’ve seen it. Where some MacBooks are overkill for basic everyday tasks, this lightweight model can handle them with ease—and you won’t be paying for performance that you won’t use. It has a bright display, long battery life, and support for up to two external displays as well as Apple Intelligence. And while you might want something else if you’ll be doing heavy video editing or need a giant screen, the M4 MacBook Air will be capable of handling multiple Google Chrome tabs and apps running in the background. We do wish it had some more ports, but you can always use a USB hub to customize them further.
These are the best noise-canceling earbuds we’ve tried. They have excellent sound quality and battery life, plus solid control options, and they’re comfortable to wear for long periods of time. But where they truly excel is in active noise canceling. They can make a busy subway car or crowded airplane disappear entirely, lending you extra focus or decompression with no effort.
Home and Outdoor Deals

Branch has made our favorite office chair for years. It has oodles of adjustable elements, including the arms, armrests, seat depth, recline, lumbar support, and seat tilt. The foam cushion seat is comfortable and the mesh backrest is supportive, too. The affordable price tag is icing on the cake, and while it doesn’t go on sale very often, you can save ten percent until the sale ends with code LABORDAY.
If you don’t want to spring for the Ergonomic Chair Pro, this is the best budget-friendly office chair and an option worth considering. It’s very easy to assemble and there are a few adjustable areas for a better fit—the armrests, seat, recline, and lumbar support can all be dialed in. There are some fun fabric color options, like blue and orange, though the upholstery does tend to pill and is a magnet for pet hair. Even with its quirks, it will be a definite upgrade if you’re still working from the ratty chair you picked up off Craigslist when you first built your home office.
Sitting all day is bad for you! This telescoping desk can be raised up as high as 45 inches, with simple setup and two available sizes. It comes in a few different finishes. This coupon code gets you 20 percent off almost everything on Humanscale’s website. Humanscale makes some of the best office chairs. The Freedom Headrest is the best reclining office chair, and it drops from $1,743 to $1,394 with code SEMIANNUAL20. Editor Julian Chokkattu said, “this chair gracefully supports my back like a mother gently laying a baby in a crib.” We also like the Humanscale Path, which is great for tight spaces and even comes in armless versions. This is the bed frame I’m currently using, and I love it very much. Assembly wasn’t my favorite, but once I got it all put together, I fell in love. It has a drawer at the foot of the bed that’s handy for storing extra linens or off-season clothing, and it’s sturdy too. I also appreciate that the platform lets me maneuver my mattress easily so I don’t have to fight to change my sheets.

This well-made, luxurious sofa is one of the best couches you can buy online. Operations Manager Scott Gilbertson called it the best-looking and most comfortable couch he’s ever sat on. The website lets you order swatches and pick the layout you want, and you can even get a full-size printout to make sure the couch will look right in your living space. There are dozens of options for upholstery, legs, and cushion fill, so you can create the couch of your dreams. For a more affordable option, we also like the Benchmade Modern Laguna (pictured above) on sale for $2,397 ($599 off). “My family and I have been sitting on it for a year and a half now, and the single cushion (as well as the rest of the couch’s cushions) is comfortable and supportive,” says reviewer Nena Farrell.
Breeo makes the best upgrade fire pit. The American-made pit has a fire bowl that’s two feet wide, so it’ll fit pre-cut wood, and there are a ton of accessories available. (We especially like the live-fire pizza oven, on sale for $723—a $128 discount). The hefty, sturdy base and natural patina (on the Corten steel option) make this a centerpiece worthy of any backyard.
This is featured in our guide to the Best Kitchen Composters. It has the fastest compost breakdown of any model we tried. It has some quirks, like a lid that requires two hands to open and the machine’s tendency to make a loud whirring noise as it works. But it’s a great-entry level kitchen composter, and it doesn’t drop in price very often.

The Ooni Volt is the very best electric pizza oven. It can heat up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit, and the triple-pane glass door always lets you see what’s going on. And while you might miss out on some of the vibes that come with a fire-powered oven, the Volt can safely be used indoors and outdoors—so you won’t have to brave the coming winter chill (or supply propane refills) to get your paws on some good ‘za.
Hydroviv makes one of the best shower water filters we’ve tested. The bacteriostatic showerhead was able to filter total chlorine down to undetectable levels in reviewer Matthew Korfhage’schloramine-treated water system. This deal is for the automatically-replenishing subscription bundle. Hydroviv says you should replace filters every six months, but you can pause or cancel that subscription if you decide you want to order them separately.
WIRED Reviews Editor Julian Chokkattu tested and loved this outdoor couch and armchair set. The couches come with OuterShell, which is a built-in cover that helps protect the couch cushions from the elements (and stray bird poops). The performance fabric is made from recyclable materials, and the covers are machine washable. Julian still has to see how the couch fares New York winters, but so far, it’s sturdy and comfortable. We like that the couch is made with Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood. It’s also backed by a ten-year warranty and available in four different fabric options.

We really like this cooler from RTIC, and clipping the on-page coupon gets you 10 percent off the normal price, bringing it within $10 of the best discount we’ve seen. The rotomolded 45-quart cooler is heavy, but the padded handles make carrying it easier, and tester Martin Cizmar hasn’t experienced any issues with ice retention. And unlike coolers from Yeti, this one actually has its full listed capacity available inside. All the better to store your beer.
We’ve recommended the Albany Park Barton in our Couch Buying Guide for years. It’s soft and supportive, with deep seats and wide arms so you can put down your coffee cup or phone without needing an extra table. There are many different fabrics to choose from, and you can choose the stain of the wooden legs too. Assembly wasn’t too difficult—just be prepared to take out a lot of recycling afterward. The couch also comes with a 30-day trial so you can try it before committing.
Home Depot is offering up to 35 percent off a variety of appliances for Labor Day, including washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and various bundles. This discount also applies to a few robot vacuums that we like from Roborock and iRobot, as well as a large selection of window air conditioners we recommend. If you’re in the market for a new home appliance, this sale is worth checking out.
If you’ve been hunting for a new GPU, you already know that getting one for its suggested retail price isn’t guaranteed. High demand, low supply, and a constantly shifting economic space have caused the new 50 Series graphics cards to hit the market well above the expected price, at least at launch.
Thankfully, the situation seems to be stabilizing a bit, as indicated by this deal on PNY’s overclocked example of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which is available on Amazon for its MSRP of $750. Even better, your purchase includes a copy of the upcoming Borderlands 4, potentially saving you $70 if you were planning on picking it up.

I spent some time with the Asus Prime version of the RTX 5070 Ti and was seriously impressed with its performance at multiple resolutions. It managed to stay above 120 frames per second at 1080p in almost every game I tested, making it a great choice for gamers who are still at the lower resolution and looking to max out their screen’s refresh. It also beat 90 fps in all of the test games at 2,560 x 1,440, which is great news for new system builders targeting the higher resolution. This version is overclocked by PNY, which should give you a couple more percentage points on these numbers.

As part of the newest generation of Nvidia GeForce GPUs, you also get access to DLSS 4 and the landmark feature, Multi-Frame Generation. The RTX 5070 Ti can leverage machine learning to produce up to three extra frames between each traditionally rendered frame, shooting your frame rate into the stratosphere in exchange for a bit of quality. While I wouldn’t rely on it for every game, I did an in-depth look in my review of the RTX 5090 Founders Edition (7/10, WIRED Recommends) that shows some of the effects it has on both image quality and frame rate.
If $750 sounds like a lot to spend, make sure to check out my full GPU buying guide, which lays out the different options from the latest generation of both Nvidia and AMD cards. As soon as you move past those sub-$400 budget cards, I think the RTX 5070 Ti offers the best balance of performance and price as an upgraded pick. It’s rare to see these cards listed for retail, and the included copy of Borderlands 4 really sweetens the deal, assuming you were going to play anyway, so I wouldn’t sleep on this if you’ve been considering an upgrade.

When Is Black Friday?
In 2024, Black Friday falls on November 29. It’s followed by Cyber Monday on December 2, 2024. Most of the official sales start late on Thanksgiving, though some of the best deals start on Friday, sometime in the early hours. (A handful of stores provide exact start times.)
I have been Black Friday shopping for over two decades. My advice, if you’re on the hunt for killer deals, is to stay up late the day before Thanksgiving to check for online sales starting around midnight Eastern time on Wednesday, November 27. WIRED will also cover major sales later in the day on Thanksgiving. Early Black Friday deals will kick off during the first couple of weeks of November, and retailers like Best Buy usually have a price-matching guarantee in place if an item gets cheaper on Black Friday.
Can You Get Black Friday Deals Online?
You can—and should. We exclusively cover online deals here at WIRED because the majority of Black Friday deals are available on the web. The best deals don’t stick around for too long, so it’s a good idea to pay attention to your favorite store’s sale pages (and our coverage).
Make a list of what you want to buy ahead of time—this can help you keep a clear head when it’s time to start shopping. You shouldn’t buy things just to buy them. Everyone’s on a tighter budget these days; sales will happen again. Take a deep breath and don’t get sucked into the frenzy.
Which Retailers Will Have Black Friday Deals?
Nearly all of them. There are obvious stores, like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy, but chances are every retailer and brand will have some sort of sale, spanning deals on clothing, shoes, books, electric scooters, tech, health and beauty items, or fitness specialty goods to name just a few categories. There might even be promotions going on at your favorite coffee shop or restaurant. When in doubt, visit a retailer’s website. Usually, Black Friday sales are highlighted proudly on the homepage.

Is Black Friday Worth It?
TL;DR: usually. Long answer: Most of the time, Black Friday deals are the best we see all year, and they set the precedent for what dictates a good price in the months that follow.
However, some Black Friday deals aren’t all that great or are repetitive from year to year. For instance, you’ll predictably see low prices on some smart-home tech, like the Amazon Echo Dot or Google Nest Mini. In previous years, those speakers have sold for around $20 or so, every single November. This year, they’ll probably dip to the same price. Even if a price is technically a historic low, consider whether you truly need another cheap little speaker before you place your order—especially considering that these deals tend to pop up repeatedly throughout the year.
Some discounts aren’t jaw-dropping because the products tend to go on sale every few months, and the fact that stores repeat deals so frequently says a lot about the nature of discounts these days. Still, the deals are worth it if you are in the market for a specific item and want to save some cash. Just keep in mind that price research is important, and if you miss out on a deal, don’t fret; there’s a strong chance it will come around again at some point in the future.
How Much Money Can I Save on Black Friday?
That depends on what you’re shopping for. There are so many deals up for grabs in so many categories that it’s impossible to list them all here.
For example, TVs are usually a great purchase to make around Black Friday, if you can find the right model. They are at their cheapest this time of year and through the holidays. In the same vein, you’ll be able to save on clothes, toys, and home goods, but those deals may not be as enticing when you look at specific dollar amounts. They’re certainly less expensive than usual, though.

A buck cheaper than it was during Prime Day! Listed in our Best Routers guide as the best option for folks looking to try Wi-Fi 6E, this hexagonal Asus router performed well in my tests. It is a tri-band router, adding the 6-GHz band to the familiar 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz. The new band allows for much faster speeds but is relatively low range and doesn’t penetrate through walls very well. This router has a 2.5-Gbps WAN/LAN port, a second 1-Gbps WAN/LAN, and three gigabit LANs. Asus also provides free security and parental controls and tons of options in the mobile app and browser interface, including band-splitting, prioritization for different activities, guest network, VPN support, and the list goes on. —Simon Hill

You just clip each mic to the lapel of the person you want to record, and it records wirelessly for you to use later. It’s a really simple solution that makes it so you don’t have to mess with traditional (and often annoying) Lavalier microphone setups like you’ve seen on late-night TV. —Parker Hall
The Western Digital WD Black SN770 is our favorite bare drive, whether you’re putting it in your laptop or PC or sticking it in an external case to use as a portable drive. The SN 770 is an M.2 2280 drive (check your PC’s specs to see if that fits) and achieved speeds of 5,100 Mbps in my testing, which is blazing fast. I’m a big fan of Lifx bulbs for Apple Home users, since the bulbs will be ready for HomeKit setup when you initially unbox them. Not an Apple Home user? No problem—just wait 15 minutes and you can set these bulbs up to work without Apple and can instead link them to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Right now I control both my Lifx bulb and my Lifx Beam (7/10, WIRED Recommends) with Google Assistant, and it’s just as seamless as using it with Apple. The app is intuitive to navigate and comes with tons of colors and premade scenes you can use, and Lifx doesn’t require a hub of any kind to work. They’re easy to add onto any smart home, or to use as your exclusive smart home bulb, especially since they’re on sale right now. The Abode Lock (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of my favorite smart locks I’ve tested. This retrofit lock is easy to install, fairly quiet, and comes with a keypad and fingerprint reader. It only replaces the back of your deadbolt, making it a good pick for renters or households who want to keep using their existing keys. It doesn’t require a hub, but adding the Abode Hub does give you smart home connectivity. The hub only comes in Abode’s bundles, but you can get the Abode Security Kit for $40 ($120 off) right now. You’ll also want one of Abode’s monthly subscriptions (I did the $7/month Standard Plan) to get detailed notifications. I know it sounds like a lot, but you’ll be able to build onto this setup as much (or as little!) as you want after getting both the lock and hub for such a good price. —Nena Farrell
This V15 Detect continues to hold the top spot in our guide to Best Dyson Vacuums. At just under 7 pounds, it’s lightweight, making it easy to maneuver and handle. It also comes equipped with a green laser that shoots out the front of the motorized head, illuminating microscopic dust particles that are typically tough to see. There’s a sensor inside the vacuum as well, which counts the number and determines the size of the particles it’s sucking up—all of which you can see on the LCD. In terms of battery life, you’ll get a 60-minute run time with a battery that takes up to 4.5 hours to fully charge. It’s expensive, but it’s an excellent option if you’re looking for a high-performing stick vacuum. —Brenda Stolyar
Dyson’s Ball Animal 3 vacuum (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is great for unruly pet hair. It has more bin capacity than the previous version and comes with a Motorbar cleaner head with detangling hair-removal vanes. It has three different power modes to choose from: one for deep- and medium-pile carpets, another for low-pile carpets and large debris, and one for ground-in dirt and hardwood floors. It’s easy to maneuver, especially around awkward spaces and tight corners, and the bin never clogs up with fur. It is heavy and loud, though. But aside from that, it’s an excellent corded vacuum for pet owners. —Brenda Stolyar
The Matrix is the newest version of the Shark AI Ultra, the 2-in-1 mopping vacuum that earned a “Most Improved Award” from me in 2022. Like most companies that purport to offer maximum value for minimum price, Shark has products that can be hit or miss. Happily, however, the Matrix is one of the hits, as I found it to be a reliable cleaning companion with quick and accurate mapping, multifunctional mopping, and vacuuming. It doesn’t need replacement dust bags—which is both a blessing and a curse, as the self-emptying dustbin sometimes doesn’t empty quite all the way. —Adrienne So
When I included the rocket-shaped Shark NeverChange Air Purifier Max in WIRED’s lineup of the Best Air Purifiers of 2024, I recommended it as the ideal gift for your dorm-bound loved ones. Standing just under 2 feet tall, the NeverChange can be placed as close as 3 inches from a wall, making it a good fit for crowded spaces. The average American dorm room is around 230 square feet, and the Shark NeverChange succeeds at exchanging the air the five recommended times per hour—perfect for a multiple-person dorm room. One caveat: To achieve that level of air purification, the NeverChange must be at its highest setting, which is to say its loudest setting. This is one of the best indoor security cameras you can buy because it’s capable of recognizing faces, so it can tell you when your kids come home. I also like the understated style. With HDR, the 1080p video quality is clear at 30 fps, with automatic night vision when it’s dark. There’s also decent two-way audio, and enforced two-factor authentication, which is important for an indoor camera. The big downside is that you need a Nest Aware subscription costing $8 per month ($80/year) for 30 days of event video history and familiar face alerts, but that does cover all your Nest devices. —Simon Hill

The perfect outdoor security camera for Google households, Nest Cam Outdoor has a handy magnetic mount that makes it easy to angle the camera. It has an expansive 130-degree field of view, captures sharp 1080p video with HDR and night vision, and boasts a clear speaker and microphone. You only get three hours of free event history, but you can add a Nest Aware subscription ($8 a month, or $80 for the whole year) to get 30 days of event history and face recognition, which is super handy. —Simon Hill
Purina’s Petivity (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a more affordable way to monitor your cat’s health without having to fork over $700 for an automatic litter box. The Petivity sits underneath a standard litter box and, once connected to the app, tells you which cat visited the box at what time, how much they weigh, and if they went number one or two. This tool is perfect for the helicopter pet parent, so you can track any differences in their litter box usage and if something seems off, take them to the vet before the issue becomes bigger and more costly. Right now the Petivity is the lowest price we’ve seen for an expensive pet health monitoring tool—less than half of what it usually costs. —Molly Higgins

A good drill is essential for your home tool kit, and this is the best one we’ve tested. It’s got more than enough torque for most tasks—and ’tis better to have more torque and not need it than to need it and not have it. The Nuzzie Ice Knit weighted blanket is one of my top weighted blanket picks, and a great alternative to the popular Bearaby Tree Napper if you want something extra soft or have a specific weight you’re looking for. It’s a similar open-knit design, and both use weighted fabric as filler rather than beads, but the Nuzzie uses bamboo material to give it a silkier, cooling touch. It has different weight options than the Bearaby Tree—the Nuzzie comes in 12, 16, 22, and 28 pounds—and I personally found those offerings closer to 10% of my weight. I have been using mine since 2018 and it has served me well for more than six years. The Barista Express Impress (6/10, WIRED Review) is a more feature-rich version of our favorite espresso machine above. It has more grind and dosage settings, and it automates some of the more complex parts of brewing espresso, such as getting just the right amount of grounds per shot. Otherwise, it’s largely the same. It’s got a built-in grinder, an adjustable steam wand, and a sturdy construction. This very fancily named espresso machine made our list of the very best. It’s a two-in-one machine with a built-in grinder and a slim form factor compared to similar machines. It has a couple of quirks—like the stepstool for your mug to prevent splashing—but overall it’s a joy to use and if you’re spending money like crazy on artisan coffee drinks at your local shop, the investment will pay off. We’ve seen it drop as low as $500 before, but it rarely drops below $550, so we still think this is a decent deal. —Louryn Strampe
Even though we don’t consider the 9th Gen iPad (8/10, WIRED Recommends) the best for most people—mainly because it’s three years old and packs an older, A13 Bionic chip—it’s still a solid option if you’re in the market for a budget tablet. It’s affordable and comes with a ton of great features like a physical Touch ID-enabled home button, 64 GB of storage on the base model, a 12-megapixel rear camera (with support for Center Stage), and a True Tone display. This is the latest iPad Air (8/10, WIRED Recommends). It now comes in two sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches. The latter is bigger and brighter, making it excellent to use as a secondary display to work off of or watch TV on. It also comes equipped with an M2 processor (the same one that powers the 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro from 2022) that delivers smooth performance even with multiple apps running simultaneously. Apple also moved the front-facing 12-megapixel camera to landscape orientation. As with the previous version, it also has a USB-C port, slim bezels, and Touch ID built into the top power button. —Brenda Stolyar
The iPad Mini (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is my favorite tablet to travel with. The 8.3-inch display is great for watching movies, sketching, notetaking, and reading ebooks. It also has Touch ID built into the power button, a front-facing camera with Center Stage, and an A15 Bionic processor (as seen on the iPhone 13) that can handle taxing apps or games. It’s worth noting this model came out in 2021, and Apple is expected to announce the next-generation version either in November or early 2025. I recommend waiting if you can. —Brenda Stolyar
Apple iPad (10th Generation)

The iPad (10th Gen) (7/10, WIRED Review) is our favorite iPad for most people. It comes with a large 10.9-inch Liquid Retina (IPS LCD) display, a touch ID sensor integrated into the power button, a USB-C port instead of Lightning, and a 12-megapixel rear camera (an upgrade from the eight megapixels). The 12-MP selfie camera has also been moved to the center of the iPad, so you’ll no longer have to awkwardly stare to the side during video calls. Under the hood is also an A14 Bionic chip, which delivers slightly faster performance and a bump in graphics over its predecessor. —Brenda Stolyar
This is the latest and more feature-packed Apple Pencil. It comes with a few noteworthy features including a “squeeze” capability that triggers the tool palette (but you can still use double-tap) along with a haptic engine inside that delivers feedback when you squeeze the stylus. There’s a built-in gyroscope sensor too, which allows you to change the orientation of the tools as you twist it for finer control. It also comes with support for Apple’s Find My Network in case you lose it. It’s worth noting, however, that it only works with the iPad Air (M2) and iPad Pro (M4). —Brenda Stolyar
MacBook Air 13-Inch Laptop

Although M4-powered MacBooks are imminent, the MacBook Pro with M3 launched just a year ago—so it’s still an excellent choice. It packs a brighter display with mini LED and a 120-Hz refresh rate, along with a 1080p webcam. It packs plenty of ports too, including two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, an HDMI, a MagSafe charging port, a high-impedance headphone jack, and an SD card slot. We recommend it if you’re looking for a MacBook Pro without spending $2,000 or more. —Brenda Stolyar
The best smartwatch for Samsung fans, the Galaxy Watch7 is a very nice companion for a Galaxy phone. It is packed with features, offers notifications from your phone, and allows you to control your smart home from your wrist. It even boasts artificial intelligence algorithms to improve your health tracking data. But the battery life could be better and it doesn’t add much over the much cheaper, older Watch6. —Simon Hill
Discounts on Oura’s biohacking smart rings are rare, but the Oura Ring Gen3 Horizon (6/10, WIRED Review) is currently on sale for Prime Day (no doubt because the Oura Ring 4 is about to land). This smart ring is our favorite sleep tracker and does a solid job of tracking your activity and stress levels. It packs three hospital-grade sensors: infrared photoplethysmography sensors for heart rate and respiration, a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) sensor for body temperature, and a 3D accelerometer for movement. The app is easy to use, but you must factor in Oura’s $6-per-month membership, which is essential to get the most from this gadget. —Simon Hill

If you prefer a traditional analog-looking watch but want some of the features of a smartwatch, then the Withings ScanWatch 2 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) would like a word. With a classy design, comprehensive health and sleep tracking, and long battery life, this is one of the best smartwatches you can buy. It tracks your temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels, and has an ECG feature. The screen is tiny, so you can’t do much on it, but you can get notifications from your phone ticker-tape-style if you want. —Simon Hill
Mobvoi’s Ticwatch smartwatches have long been a bit bland but they also deliver some of the best battery life on a feature-rich smartwatch. That’s because they use two kinds of displays, one low-power screen for when you’re not staring at the watch, and then an OLED for when you’re interacting with it. This watch performs well and lasts four days on a charge, but Mobvoi has a spotty record when it comes to software updates, so just know that you may not get the latest Wear OS features for months, if not a year. —Julian Chokkattu
OnePlus’s first Wear OS watch is excellent (7/10, WIRED Recommends). Similar to the Ticwatch, it employs a hybrid architecture running two operating systems and two processors—one handles all the graphics-intensive Wear OS tasks, and the other sips on power for mundane step tracking and the like. I got three days of juice on a single charge, though you can stretch this if you optimize the watch and conserve power. It’s not as well-rounded in the health and fitness tracking department, but it’s adept at controlling smart home devices, notifications, and music playback. —Julian Chokkattu
LG’s C-series OLED models are consistently among our favorite TVs of the year. The C3 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is another stunner thanks to its perfect black levels and nearly infinite contrast, bright and naturalistic colors, and excellent clarity and detail. As a 2023 model, the C3 isn’t quite as bright as the current version, but it’s still well worth grabbing on a good sale. Along with its fabulous picture quality, the TV provides four HDMI 2.1 ports for high-end gaming features on any input, a snappy (if a bit stodgy) webOS interface, and a stylish and refined aesthetic. You’ll want to check out the C4’s sale price too, but I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the C3 on clearance. In fact, that’s exactly what I did when I purchased my year-old LG C1 a few years back, and I haven’t regretted that decision for a second. —Ryan Waniata

LG’s C4 OLED is one of the prettiest TVs I have ever seen (9/10, WIRED Recommends). It has perfect contrast, a great interface, and a 144hz refresh rate that makes it great even for PC gaming. It’s an OLED TV that is finally bright enough to watch in rooms with lights on, and it supports Dolby Vision high dynamic range, which comparable Samsung models do not. If you’ve been in the market for a high-end TV, this deal makes now a good time to buy. —Parker Hall
Hisense’s middle-tier min LED TV (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a fantastic value, especially at this price which is the lowest we’ve seen all year. Those after sparkling brightness matched by excellent contrast will find this TV delivers, thanks to rich and deep black levels with very little blooming. You’ll also get expansive quantum dot colors and great gaming features like a dedicated gaming mode and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) in 4K at up to 144 Hz thanks to HDMI 2.1 support across two of its four HDMI ports. It finishes things off with an inviting Google TV interface for an excellent all-around experience. At this price, it’s honestly hard to go wrong, which is why it’s currently our pick as the best TV for most people. —Ryan Waniata
Samsung’s S95D QD-OLED, the third model in the company’s return to OLED displays, is a different animal than its predecessors. It’s the first to offer a new matte screen that reduces direct and indirect reflections with impressive efficacy. That makes it great for those with sunny rooms or lots of reflective lighting, though it can create a slight loss in perceived picture depth for dark content in bright lighting. Still, as one of the brightest OLED TVs you can buy, it absolutely sizzles with HDR content day or night, while its excellent picture processing and quantum dot colors burst to life in everything you watch. It’s loaded with extras, including support for the top gaming features across all inputs, but like all Samsung TVs, it doesn’t support Dolby Vision HDR. This won’t be the perfect fit for everyone, but if you’re after phenomenal OLED performance that keeps reflections at bay, the S95D is a great buy—especially on sale. —Ryan Waniata
Hisense’s 65-inch U8N (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the brightest TVs I’ve ever seen, with only the masterful Bravia 9 matching its wattage in our test pile so far. This baby will blow the doors off your last TV, but just as important as those blistering highlights are its fantastic black levels and rich colors for well-rounded spectacle in HDR and even dimmer SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) content. It matches its punchy picture with top-tier gaming features, a solid Google TV interface that’s easy to setup and use, and some features you might not expect like an adjustable optical audio port that automatically lets you control the volume of older audio systems with your TV remote. If you’re after the best TV experience you can get for under $1,000, the U8N drops the hammer. —Ryan Waniata
Sony’s all-in-one Quad home theater system (8/10, WIRED Recommends) provides the best surround sound immersion I’ve heard in a single-box solution. Even more intriguing, the four fabric-lined cubes and small control box are brilliantly discreet, mounting to the wall and requiring only power outlets and a single HDMI connetion to your TV. That makes the setup great for those who want to bring the theater experience home without all the clutter. You’ll likely want to add one of Sony’s wireless subwoofers so the end cost is certainly steep, but this price drop makes the Quad seriously enticing for those after a stealthy setup that brings the goods. —Ryan Waniata

Of the many, many options in the Roku lineup, Roku Ultra is the fanciest. It has the strongest dual-band Wi-Fi you can get in a Roku, plus an Ethernet port if you prefer wireless connections. We don’t really think that’s necessary, but if you care, the option is there. The remote has an option for hands-free voice controls as well as a headphone jack. Roku even throws a free pair of earbuds in, and they’re surprisingly decent—and you won’t wake up your sleeping partner while you binge the newest season of What We Do in the Shadows. Another neat feature is that if you have hands-free voice controls turned on, you can speak into the void and ask your remote to beep. We truly live in the future. —Louryn Strampe
The Roku Express 4K+ is similar to the one we recommend in our guide. The main difference is that this slightly cheaper model doesn’t have a Voice Remote Pro, therefore it doesn’t have a headphone jack. If you don’t care about using voice controls or listening to your TV via headphones but want a capable streaming stick with loads of free channels and a dead-simple interface, this is a good model to get to save some cash. We’ve seen this drop to $25 before, but $27 is still a good deal since it usually bounces between that and $40. —Louryn Strampe
Roku’s simple and easy-to-use interface is probably my favorite in all of streaming TV land. It has virtually every app you can fathom, excellent voice search, and pumps out surprisingly great video quality from a device the size of a gum packet. I’d still go for a higher-end streamer for my main TV, but if you have an older screen that needs a streaming upgrade or has an interface you hate, this is one of our favorite streaming devices. —Parker Hall
If you don’t have a 4K TV, you don’t need to pay extra for a 4K streaming stick. The Roku Express is the cheapest in the lineup, but it’s perfectly capable. It’s a bare-bones device that doesn’t have any fancy extra features like voice or TV controls, but you’ll still get the beloved Roku interface and access to all of your usual streaming networks. Lots of other Roku devices are on sale for Prime Day, though, so if you plan on upgrading your TV over the next few years, it might be worthwhile to just spend the extra cash on a more future-proof device now. —Louryn Strampe
This is the first major discount we’re seeing on Microsoft’s latest Surface Laptop (which is also a Copilot+ PC, which we explain in this story). It’s a perfectly fine machine (7/10, WIRED Recommends) but was too expensive out of the gate. This price is a little more reasonable, especially since this is the version with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1-terabyte solid state drive. You also get a 14-inch touchscreen with a 120-Hz screen refresh rate. Performance is great for everyday tasks with good battery life, just take a grain of salt with all the “AI” features. Also remember that since this is a Qualcomm-powered PC, there may be some app compatibility issues. —Julian Chokkattu

Gaming on a Chromebook? It’s not something you immediately think of on these machines that revolve around the Google Chrome browser. Still, the 516 GE (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the more powerful Chromebook Plus laptops out there with battery life that will get you through a workday just fine. It’s billed as a cloud gaming machine, allowing you to stream games through services like Xbox Cloud Gaming or Nvidia GeForce Now. There’s Wi-Fi 6E support or an Ethernet port to maximize internet speeds. Plus you get a 16-inch screen with a 120-Hz refresh rate. —Julian Chokkattu
The Ray (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is an intriguing offering from Sonos, a brand that’s helped redefine the soundbar landscape. It doesn’t connect over HDMI ARC like most modern soundbars, using an optical input instead. That means it’s tougher to control it with your TV remote, though it’s programmable for many modern TVs which is important since it oddly doesn’t come with its own remote. The tradeoff is advanced networking features like Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, and the ability to connect with other Sonos speakers for a whole-home audio system. Most important, this compact bar sounds very good for its size, with more bass and overall punch than you’d believe when you unpack it. The Ray isn’t for everyone, but if it fits your needs, it’s a hot attraction at a cool price. —Ryan Waniata
The Sonos Beam Gen 2 sits in the middle of the company’s current lineup, offering a balanced blend of sound quality and features. It’s not particularly punchy in the bass, but its compact size serves up clear dialogue and surprisingly expansive effects sound thanks to acoustic trickery that includes virtual Dolby Atmos support. Like other Sonos speakers, it offers advanced networking features, including a variety of supported streaming services, AirPlay 2, and the ability to connect to other Sonos speakers over Wi-Fi for a multi-room or surround sound setup. Its minimalist design disappears on your console, and the HDMI ARC connection makes it simple to control with your TV remote. Those who want bigger sound may want to step up to the Arc, but the Beam is a solid compact system with loads of features. —Ryan Waniata

Dolby Atmos Soundbar systems are frowned upon by the nerds on Reddit, but I actually have found that recent generations do compete pretty well with traditional receiver-and-speakers setups. This one from LG is usually a bit expensive for most buyers, but at under a thousand bucks for a setup with two rear surround speakers with upfiring drivers and a wireless subwoofer, it’s hard to argue with this deal. It even has Dolby Vision and 120hz 4K passthrough, which means you can connect your latest consoles and not worry that it’s throttling the video. —Parker Hall
Sonos’ indomitable Arc (9/10, WIRED Recommends) helped change how we think about soundbars. At nearly $900 list, its lack of extras like a subwoofer or surround speakers seemed like a serious hindrance. Instead, the tubular device proved that a single bar is all you need for thrilling home theater audio, with solid bass response and powerful speakers that bounce sound all around your room. Its Dolby Atmos height speakers are particularly impressive, submerging you in sound with supported content. Of course, if you want more, the Arc happily obliges by connecting wirelessly with other Sonos speakers in a multiroom audio system, or a full 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup. It’s got plenty of other features, including a built-in microphone for smart commands and the ability to stream over Wi-Fi from multiple services. It doesn’t offer Bluetooth or even a spare HDMI input, but if you’re looking for a topline, all-in-one sound system, it’s one of the best soundbars out there. —Ryan Waniata
Many of us thought the AirPods Max (8/10, WIRED Recommends) was getting a refresh at the most recent Apple event, but all we got was a USB-C version fit for European consumption. That means this discounted model is still Apple’s top of the pops, and indeed it still stands tall in the noise-canceling headphones lexicon. You’ll get a solid aluminum design that feels posh, great sound, good noise canceling, and transparency mode that brings in the world around you in and incredibly natural way. You’ll also get good Apple-centric features like the ability to seamlessly swap between iCloud devices These headphones are rather heavy and don’t come with a travel case, but otherwise they’re still an excellent buy, especially now that the price has crept down drastically from their original $600 MSRP. —Ryan Waniata
The Beats Studio Pro (7/10, WIRED Recommends) are a super solid pair of headphones that cost just a bit too much at full price for them to rise to my exclusive list of top favorites. That’s why they’re so enticing on a great sale. These headphones offer excellent audio performance and noise canceling, natural sounding transparency mode, some good Apple-centric features (since Apple owns the Beats brand), and even trendy tricks like 360 audio with head tracking that puts you in the center of your sound. I wish they had auto-pause, something I expect in a pair of top-tier headphones, and the build is less premium than other headphones in their class but at this price, they’re nothing less than a killer deal. —Ryan Waniata
These are our favorite AirPods alternatives. They have noise cancellation, support for spatial audio, and transparency mode. Although they aren’t the most comfortable earbuds we’ve tested, they’re very easy to use, thanks to the physical buttons on the outside of each earbud. We also like that they’re super stylish and come in colors like ivory, silver, black, and transparent. —Brenda Stolyar
The Beats Fit Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is best for the gym, due to its ergonomic design. They have squishy fins for better stability, soft silicone tips, and a fit test to make sure the buds sit properly in your ears. The outside of each bud also has a clicky button used for controls. In terms of sound, they also deliver a detailed and punch sound signature, excellent noise cancelation, and reliable microphones for calls. —Brenda Stolyar
Sony’s WH-1000XM5 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) are the brand’s top wireless pair, offering excellent noise canceling, great sound, and tons of advanced features. Even with a couple of years under their belt, the XM5 do well to fend off fresh rivals like the Sonos Ace. They can’t match the Bose Ultra when it comes to noise canceling, but I generally prefer their sound quality, especially after taming their taut bass with Sony’s multi-band EQ. There’s not a major feature the XM5 don’t offer, from auto pausing when you speak to letting in the world around you with a cupped hand on the right earcup. Perhaps their best feature is usability, with everything from their touch controls to their app working flawlessly. Their 30 hours of battery life is enough for even trips off the grid. Their only real knock is a longer travel case than their predecessor, the WH-1000XM4 that’s harder to pack. The XM5 are among the best wireless headphones out there, and they’re all the more tempting on a good sale. —Ryan Waniata
With so much marketing hype in consumer electronics, it’s nice to see a product that lives up to its name. When Bose says “Ultra” in this case, the company means it. You won’t find a pair of earbuds with noise canceling this powerful or comprehensive anywhere on the market right now. Others may come close, but when it comes to strangling as much of the ambient audio around you as possible, these buds stand alone. They add to their cancellation prowess with clear and vibrant sound performance, solid battery life, and extras like adaptive transparency mode to keep sudden loud noises at bay and 3D audio with head tracking to immerse you in your tunes and videos. If you’ve been waiting for a good sale on the ultimate noise cancellers, now is your moment. –Ryan Waniata
Sony’s WF-1000XM5 (7/10 WIRED Recommends) are every bit a flagship pair of Sony earbuds. They don’t have the best noise canceling or arguably even the best sound for the money, but their mix of top-tier versions of each alongside a wide suite of useful features and technologies makes them an excellent sonic companion even at their high price. Their design is more compact and ergonomic than many competitors, fitting nimbly in your pocket and your ears. Their touch controls are simple to use, and their 8 hours of battery life per charge (and multiple case recharges) is among the best in class. It all adds up to a well-rounded package that’s especially tempting on sale. —Ryan Waniata
This comes with the major caveat that Shokz recently released the update to these longtime favorite headphones, the OpenRun Pro 2, which have, among other things, USB-C charging so you’re not constantly looking for Shokz’s proprietary charger. However, the older version is still great—it’s smaller, the battery life is slightly better, and the sound quality is also just a tiny bit better. There’s also a mini version for those of us with tiny, tiny necks. —Adrienne So
Sony Linkbuds S

Sony’s Linkbuds S don’t seem to have much in common with their namesake, the original Linkbuds (8/10, WIRED Recommends). The latter have a hole in the middle to eternally let in the outside world, while the Linkbuds S are more like traditional earbuds, offering both transparency mode and noise canceling, allowing you to let in or suppress environmental sounds respectively. This makes them more of a philosophical follow-up, but they’re still a solid pair of midrange earbuds. Their best feature may be their minuscule size, making them comfy and easy to wear for hours at a time. You’ll also get plenty of features, including a multi-band EQ and a speak-to-chat feature that pauses sound when you talk. It’s a good package, especially at their reduced price, making these a worthy buy for those after Sony quality without shelling out for a flagship pair. —Ryan Waniata
If you’re getting headphones for your kids you should always make sure they are volume-limited to ensure they don’t damage their hearing. This pair from Altec Lansing are limited to 85 decibels but also have active noise cancellation to block out background noise. They come in various fun color combos, are wireless, and work for up to 15 hours when fully charged. My kids tested these and my wife uses them at school (she’s a teacher) and the students find them comfy. They also score an IPX4 rating and wipe clean easily. —Simon Hill
Speakers this cute—and cheap!—sound like a recipe for poor performance. Luckily, Creative’s pint-sized Pebble V3 speakers can deliver great sound quality for all my gaming and meeting needs. Midrange and bass notes come through nicely, and there’s a single gain switch you can flip on too. The speakers connect via USB-C, Bluetooth, or the included 3.5-mm audio cable. All three work great, but the audio cable is my favorite for switching back and forth between my work laptop and gaming computer. Want a subwoofer? Creative also has the Pebble Plus 2.1 set on sale for $37 which adds a little subwoofer to pump up your sound with the two adorable Pebble speakers. —Nena Farrell

But the one feature that stood out to me when I reviewed it was the absolutely ludicrous 360Hz refresh rate. I freaking love this humble little electric pizza oven, which has zero pretensions but is one of the most versatile additions to my outdoor kitchen. The “woodfire” in the name is a bit of a stretch, given that it just has a tiny trapdoor with which to add pellets to give a smoky flavor to your food. But it’s so easy to use that over the past year, I’ve ended up using it every day. Just punch in what style of pizza you want, let it preheat, and pop it in. I’ve also used it to make muffins, ribs, and macaroni and cheese. —Adrienne So

The E2 Plus is a 32-pound electric scooter with a range of roughly 10 miles. (I tested it as a 6’4” man—most people will be able to go a little farther.) It’s easy to fold up and carry around, and the 15-mph top speed is beginner-friendly. Don’t expect it to go up steep hills with the 300-watt motor, but it’s a great affordable scooter for grocery runs or quick trips to the deli. —Julian Chokkattu
Our top pick for max megapixels, Sony’s flagship full-frame mirrorless camera features a 61-megapixel full-frame sensor, which is largely unmatched in its class (if you want more megapixels you’ll need to get a medium-format camera). If that’s not enough, there’s a 16-shot, high-resolution mode that can create 240-MP images (so long as your subject is static, e.g., a landscape). The dynamic range is outstanding and the autofocus is plenty snappy. —Scott Gilbertson
We think this is the best mirrorless camera for most people. Sony’s A7 IV (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is a 33-megapixel, full-frame camera capable of incredibly sharp images, with excellent dynamic range and the best autofocus system on the market. It’s compact and light enough to carry all day without back strain, and the grip is comfortable. The five-axis image stabilization means you can hand-hold it in lower light, and the wide range of 4K video options makes it the best all-around video-and-stills combo on the market. —Scott Gilbertson
The new Hero 13 Black brings interchangeable lenses and other features, but last year’s Hero 12 Black (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is still a great camera, especially at this price. It’s our favorite GoPro on sale, and on sale it is. For $300 you’d be hard-pressed to get a better action camera. There’s good, smart stabilization, support for Log video, wireless mic support, and a tripod mount. The one downside is there’s no GPS support in the Hero 12 (that’s good for battery life, but if you liked GPS, this is not the camera to get). —Scott Gilbertson

This isn’t a huge deal, but we rarely see Fujifilm’s nicer Instax cameras go on sale. We think this is the best camera that uses the square Instax film. The SQ40 is about as simple as it gets, twist the lens barrel to turn it on, frame your shot, hit the shutter button, and voilà out comes your image, which develops in about 90 seconds. There’s a film counter near the bottom left side of the back to let you know how many images you have left. The only other option is a selfie mode, designed for close-ups.

Will You Need a Prime Membership?
Yes, this event is for Amazon Prime members, meaning most of these Prime Day deals are for subscribers only. If you want to take the ride you need to buy the ticket. In this case, the ticket is $15 a month, and you get free two-day shipping. There are a whole bunch of other Prime Day perks you can take advantage of as well. You can also sign up for a 30-day Amazon Prime trial. Just register before the event and cancel right when the trial ends so you can take advantage of these deals. That said, there are a lot of discounted products available to folks who are not Prime subscribers. Retailers like Best Buy and Walmart are also price-matching some items or throwing their own competing sales.
What Are Invite-Only Deals?
Last year Amazon introduced invite-only deals—a system to help make it easier for Prime members to access deals that are expected to sell out quickly—and the company has brought it back for Prime Big Deal Days. The feature is only available for select products but it has spread across a variety of categories and price points.
If a specific product is part of the Invite-Only Deals system, you’ll see a “Request Invite” button on the right-hand side. All you have to do is click it for a chance to buy the product at that sale price. However, it’s important to note that there’s no guarantee you’ll receive the invite. This is currently our favorite Kindle. It packs a 6.8-inch display with small bezels, adjustable warm lighting, and 16 gigabytes of storage. It also comes with a USB-C port for wireless charging. We also suggest spending the extra $20 to get rid of lock-screen ads. We are seeing rumors that new Kindles are coming, and Amazon does upgrade the Paperwhite regularly. However, this model still performs very well.
Kindle Scribe

We recommend the Scribe (8/10, WIRED Recommends) for note-taking and drawing. Because it’s a Kindle, the reading experience is still seamless, but the large 10.2-inch screen is ideal for taking notes, marking up PDFs, and illustrating. However, we don’t recommend it for professional artists who want something a bit more complex. You also can’t write on book pages (for those who like to annotate while reading), and it isn’t waterproof. Right now only the 16-gigabyte version is still in stock. The Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle is also on sale for $300 ($140 off) which nets you the pen and a swanky leather cover.
This is our favorite Kindle for kids. It comes with a kid-friendly content library, parental controls, a year’s subscription to Amazon Kids+, and a two-year warranty. It also has a high-resolution 300-ppi display and can switch between light and dark modes. We’ve seen it dip slightly lower in the past, between $105 and $110, but this is still a solid deal. If your kid breaks it, there’s a two-year worry-free guarantee, and Amazon will replace your device for free.

The purpose of the cover is to protect your Kindle. My old one served its purpose, because my puppy ate it. The Kindle is safe, so now I need a new cover and that’s why I’m including this.
This is a great accessory if you’re looking for a more comfortable way to hold your Kindle. The soft silicone straps attach to the back of the e-reader and provide you with a better spot to rest your hands. It’s available in multiple sizes depending on the type of e-reader you have.
WIRED reviewer Nena Farrell tested this and said it makes for a super convenient and comfortable experience, especially if you have any sources of chronic pain in your hands and wrists. The clamp is easy to attach to bed frames and side tables. and it’s lightweight enough to use anywhere (with enough resistance to the neck that it won’t fall forward or out of the position you place it in). The floor stand version ($60) is also on sale for $10 off if you’d rather not attach it to your furniture.

This is our top pick in our guide to The Best Reading Lights. It’s a clip-on with an adjustable gooseneck and two swiveling light bars that pack seven LEDs each. You can also cycle through five levels of brightness and three color temperature modes, as well as six brightness settings.
This is my favorite reading light. It looks a little silly, but it’s an excellent alternative to a clip-on reading light. It’s adjustable, lightweight, and comes with three color temperature modes as well as six brightness settings. It’s rechargeable too, with up to 80 hours of battery life when on the dimmer settings.
What is a Prime Day without a ton of Kindle e-books on sale? Most of these are not, er, WIRED-recommended. However, we spotted a few of our favorites, including Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations ($2) and Penny Reid’s Grin and Beard It ($3) (I am an eclectic person with eclectic tastes.) If you have a kid who is easily frustrated, then I can’t recommend the GoCube enough (in fact, I recommended it in our gift guide to Smart STEM Toys). A regular Rubik’s Cube just leaves you alone to stew in your own incompetence, but a Bluetooth-connected Rubik’s Cube has glowing edges and a beautiful app to walk you through how to solve one. Once you’ve done that, you can learn all the different algorithms to get your solve time down, and even compete with friends! This price is for the gift pack with the charging stand, cable, and carrying pouch so your kid can even play with it on the car ride home.
Prime Days are always the best time to stock up on Lego sets because the company usually runs a bunch of promotions for around 30 percent off. These bricks are amazing but also expensive (the tolerances are so precise!), so try not to buy them full price, if possible. This is a great price for a basic box of colors. However, if you want to work on a kit, you have a few more options.
It’s seasonal! If you’re taking your kids to a real pumpkin farm this weekend, why not get a Lego one for them to build afterwards? This is a perfect seasonal set with 257 pieces, for kids ages 8 and up.

This 3D puzzle is one of the best analog gifts. Once completed, the puzzle can be opened 180 degrees to reveal the detailed interior. There are 293 pieces, which should give you a nice, long break from your screens. This squishy kid’s speaker is great for young kids aged 3 to 7 years because it can withstand drops, spills, and other mishaps. You get five character figures with the speaker (including Spider-Man and Playtime Puppy) and when they are placed on top they trigger related songs or stories. The content is usually under an hour, sometimes much shorter, but you can buy extra characters for all kinds of content, including Paddington Bear, Disney, and Pixar movies. —Simon Hill

My children spent a good three to four years totally obsessed with kinetic sand, which is a good return on investment for an affordable stocking stuffer. As my colleague Simon Hill notes (who has similarly obsessed kids), kinetic sand behaves like wet sand, except it looks, feels, and smells nice and isn’t wet. With the caveat that you will have to confine it to a table or play area and/or invest in a robot vacuum, your kid will be able to mold and shape it to their heart’s content.

I’m a big kid and this is one of the best Star Wars gifts I ever got, but any fan will love it. These helmets look good enough to satisfy collectors but are way cheaper than high-end movie replicas, so your kids can play with them. This clever logic puzzle challenges you to fit Tetris-pieces into a three-dimensional puzzle board. With 100 3D puzzles that require spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills to beat, this will keep kids aged 8 and up busy for quite a while. They get tougher as you progress, but never too hard. My kids were obsessed with this rock tumbler. (It’s also in our Best STEM Toys guide.) For years, it ran more or less constantly, polishing all the little rocks that they filled their pockets with on our hikes and river walks. It doesn’t feel like a toy, despite the packaging and the affordable price.
This was also in our STEM Toys guide before it got replaced with fresher picks. Nevertheless, my daughter used this for several years (we bought ours in 2022). We may have to upgrade to a nicer 3D printer soon, but as a first- and second-grader, she really loved being able to create her own tiny flower gardens and spoons for her stuffies.
Regardless of how much my Furby creeped me out as a kid back in the 90s, I believe owning one is a rite of passage. This is the latest version, which comes with over 600 responses, color-changing lights, dance moves, and more. Originally called Settlers of Catan, this immersive strategy game is all about gathering and trading resources to build roads, settlements, and cities on a randomly generated board of hexagonal tiles. To collect enough points for a victory requires the right strategy and some luck with dice rolls. My kids love the trading and the robber mechanic, which allows you to steal cards from your opponents and block their resources (though it can cause fall outs). The game is perfect for three or four players and usually lasts around an hour. There are various expansions and a new version called Catan: New Energies (7/10, WIRED Recommends) if you ever want more. —Simon Hill
If I were to guess where my anxiety disorder stems from, I’d point back to this game. The whole point is to make your way past different obstacles to get to the fridge for a midnight snack, without waking up Dad—all of which depends on the amount of times you click the included alarm clock. Since it’s randomized, you’re holding your breath hoping he won’t shoot up out of bed and send you back to your room. —Brenda Stolyar

If you just can’t get enough of Catan (formerly known as Settlers of Catan), and now your kids want to join in, there is now a junior version for kids as young as 5. Your swashbuckling kindergartener can learn how to trade with—and rob—people by playing as miniature pirates on the high seas. They will also learn how to argue. A lot.

You must decorate the royal palace for the King of Portugal using colorful, decorative tiles, inspired by the Moorish designs in the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain. Pick tiles each round to fill your game board, but plan carefully to get high scoring sets and patterns. My children have this. Like most elementary-school aged children, they’re obsessed with Squishmallows of all sizes. I just like having a place to put them that’s not in my shoes, torn up by the dog’s teeth, or in the dryer chute.
I have fond memories of playing Pretty Pretty Princess growing up. Whenever my older brother would babysit me as a kid, I’d force him to play with me. By the end of the game, he’d be sporting clip-on earrings, necklaces, and even the crown. One of the best family board games for young kids, Labyrinth is simple enough for anyone to grasp. The game board is a maze, and your challenge is to collect a set of treasures dictated by the cards you are dealt. This game was designed by a German psychologist, and the fun comes from the ability to change the maze by pushing a tile onto the board, which displaces another each turn. You can carve out a route for yourself, but it is also worth thinking about how to block your opponents, and the best moves do both. —Simon Hill
This is another game that definitely fueled my anxiety as a kid, but I look back and laugh at all the fun I had with my friends while playing it as a kid. When you start the timer, you have to fit all the shapes into the matching spots as quickly as possible. Once you’re done, have to turn the switch off. This classic board game has lovely steam engine styling and rules even young kids can quickly grasp, making it an ideal introduction to more complex board games. The aim is to claim railway routes across the US and Canada using your colorful plastic rail cars. You spend cards to claim routes, and there are bonus points for connecting certain destinations, but you can get blocked by other players. If you’ve played and liked the original, Ticket to Ride Europe ($28) is also on sale.
This continues to be my all-time favorite board game. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve always been incredibly nosey (even as a kid) and loved asking questions or if it’s that the concept is simple to grasp. Simply choose a character from the stack of cards, ask yes or no questions about the character, and turn over the cards that don’t match the answer to guess who the opponent picked.—Brenda Stolyar

WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson says the things his kids built with this set didn’t always hold up, but that’s not a bad thing—it’s just part of the learning process.
This non-toxic modeling gunk is endless fun and comes in a multitude of colors, though you know it will end up as a multicolored ball eventually. Best Laptop Deals

The best Prime Day laptop deal isn’t available at Amazon, but Best Buy. It’s Samsung’s new Copilot+ PC, a svelte machine that, in our tests, performed the best out of the massive wave of Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered laptops that arrived this past summer. The Book4 Edge (8/10, WIRED Recommends) isn’t for anyone into gaming or anyone who needs the power of a graphics processor for heavy-duty tasks like video editing. There are also some app compatibility issues with the ARM architecture CPU on Windows. But for most people, it will do a stunning job with everyday apps and tasks with excellent performance, a large 15.6-inch screen, and impressive battery life.
This is the first major discount we’re seeing on Microsoft’s latest Surface Laptop (which is also a Copilot+ PC, which we explain in this story). It’s a perfectly fine machine (7/10, WIRED Recommends) but was too expensive out of the gate. This price is a little more reasonable, especially since this is the version with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1-terabyte solid state drive. You also get a 14-inch touchscreen with a 120-Hz screen refresh rate. Performance is great for everyday tasks with good battery life, just take a grain of salt with all the “AI” features. Also remember that since this is a Qualcomm-powered PC, there may be some app compatibility issues.
MacBook Air 13-Inch Laptop

The M3-powered MacBook Air (7/10, WIRED Recommends) isn’t all that different than the M2 model, but it’s a great choice, specifically if you want a reliable laptop for everyday tasks and slightly more. It has an attractive 13.6-inch LCD screen and a notch with a 1080p webcam. Meanwhile, the M3 will give you a nice boost in performance compared to the original M1. You can also use it with two external displays, which is an upgrade from the single external display support with the older chips.
If you want a MacBook with a large screen, the 15-inch Air (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a great option. It has all the same features as the smaller version, including a modern design and 1080p webcam, along with an M3 chip under the hood. With an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU on the base model, it can easily handle various tasks. We do, however, recommend upgrading to at least 16 GB of memory to make sure it can handle a bunch of apps and tabs simultaneously and smoothly.
According to rumors, M4-powered MacBooks could be coming as soon as this month. But the MacBook Pro with M3 launched just a year ago—so it’s still a great option. It packs a brighter display with mini LED and a 120-Hz refresh rate, along with a 1080p webcam. It comes with plenty of ports too, including two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, an HDMI, a MagSafe charging port, a high-impedance headphone jack, and an SD card slot. We recommend it if you’re looking for a MacBook Pro without spending $2,000 or more.

The Razer Blade 18 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) delivers raw power in a gorgeous build—complete with a huge 18-inch Mini LED display with a 300-Hz screen refresh rate and G-Sync compatibility. It also packs Nvidia’s RTX 4070 graphics card and a Thunderbolt 5 port for faster data transfer speeds.
This is our favorite 15-inch budget laptop. It packs an Intel Core i5 (or AMD 5000 series chip), 8 GB of RAM, a 15.6-inch IPS display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), and plenty of ports including an Ethernet, USB, USB-C, HDMI, and headphone jack. It also has a decent keyboard and, at 4 pounds, it’s super lightweight. It’s certainly great for most everyday tasks too.
This is a solid 2-in-1 Chromebook that’s great for traveling. The 14-inch IPS LCD panel (with 1,920 X 1,200-pixel resolution) is sharp, the speakers sound decent and get surprisingly loud, and the Intel Core i3 delivers snappy performance. It doesn’t have the best battery life, but you’ll still get through a full workday on one charge.
This Chromebook (7/10, WIRED Recommends) holds the title of “Best Battery Life” in our Best Chromebooks guide. We got 10 to 11 hours of juice consistently. It does come with a few trade-offs. For example, it has a low-end MediaTek 520 processor and only 4 GB of RAM, so it struggles to keep up with certain tasks (including keeping more than a couple of tabs open at once). The display isn’t great either, and the 64 GB of storage is stifling. But if all you care about is not having to constantly plug it into a charger or breaking the bank, it’s a solid choice—especially at this price. It’s best for simple web-based tasks and word processing.
Gaming on a Chromebook? It’s not something you immediately think of on these machines that revolve around the Google Chrome browser. Still, the 516 GE (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the more powerful Chromebook Plus laptops out there with battery life that will get you through a workday just fine. It’s billed as a cloud gaming machine, allowing you to stream games through services like Xbox Cloud Gaming or Nvidia GeForce Now. There’s Wi-Fi 6E support or an Ethernet port to maximize internet speeds. Plus you get a 16-inch screen with a 120-Hz refresh rate.
Microsoft Surface Pro

The Surface Pro (6/10, WIRED Review) is our favorite 2-in-1 Surface, but it is expensive. It performs well as a tablet, but we do recommend opting for the Flex Keyboard to make for an even more comfortable experience overall. We don’t suggest buying it for full price, though, so if you’ve been eyeing it for a while, then you should certainly snag it while it’s on sale.
The Acer Nitro V (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has been replaced in our guides by newer, fresher picks, but we still think it’s a great laptop. It’s not the highest-end gaming laptop out there, but it packs more than enough power to handle most games you can play on it. This version is more upgraded than the model we tested, with an Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU and a 144-Hz 1080p display.
The Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) holds the title of “Best-Looking Chromebook” in our guide to Best Cheap Laptops. In addition to the beautiful white design, the Core i5 CPU under the hood offers plenty of performance that can handle multiple tabs and apps. Although it doesn’t have a backlit keyboard and the 16:19 display feels dated, it does come equipped with a great webcam for this price point.
Tablet Deals
Do you need a laptop? Really? Really, really? There are some great tablets out there that might be good enough for most of us.
OnePlus Pad 2

This is the best Android tablet you can buy. OnePlus Pad 2 has nice spec updates across the board compared to the first-gen model, like a slightly larger 12.1-inch LCD screen that’s a touch brighter and sharper. It’s now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the flagship processor in most 2024 Android phones, with double the RAM and internal storage. It no longer comes in green, which is disappointing, and there’s no biometric authentication, but otherwise, this is a great Android tablet. Its Open Canvas feature lets you multitask with three apps side by side (or two side by side and the third below); it’s a much more intuitive interface than many split-screen experiences on competing devices.
For the money, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better Android tablet than this. The original OnePlus Pad (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is still a great buy. For $350 you get an 11.61-inch LCD screen with a 144-Hz refresh rate, a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset for smooth performance, and best of all, OnePlus’ excellent software.
Apple iPad (10th Generation)

Want an Apple slate? Those are on sale too, including the latest 10th-gen iPad (7/10, WIRED Review), which is our top pick for most people. It has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina (IPS LCD) display, a touch-ID sensor integrated into the power button, a USB-C port (welcome to the future Apple), and a 12-megapixel rear camera. It’s powered by an A14 Bionic chip, which can handle pretty much anything you’re likely to do with a basic tablet like this. It would be remiss of us not to mention that there are rumors of more iPads coming later this year, but even if there are, this will remain a capable tablet that’s a good deal at this price.
If you’re looking for a cheap tablet, the 2021 entry-level iPad (8/10, WIRED Recommends) remains a good option. It is three years old and uses the older, A13 Bionic chip, but it’s affordable and is enough for casual tablet use. The base model has 64 GB of storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera (with support for Center Stage), a physical Touch ID-enabled home button, and a True Tone display. It’s also compatible with various accessories including the first-generation Apple Pencil and Apple’s Smart Keyboard.
The latest iPad Pro tablet (6/10, WIRED Review) comes with a ton of upgrades, including a bigger and brighter display, a front-facing camera that’s now in landscape mode, and an updated OLED screen. Powering it is the latest M4 chip, which delivers snappy and smooth performance. If you don’t need the Pro but still want a larger display, the 13-inch iPad Air (8/10, WIRED Recommends) with M2 is also on sale for $749 ($50 off).
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+

The Tab S9+ (7/10, WIRED Recommends) has a 12.4-inch screen, 120-Hz OLED refresh rate, snappy performance, and an IP68 rating for water resistance. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a tablet that’s powerful enough to get work done during the day and stream content at night. The smaller Tab S9, which packs the same features (aside from a smaller screen) is also on sale for $684 ($116 off). Samsung just announced the Tab S10 series, but there’s not a huge improvement, so you’re getting better value with the S9+.
Laptop Stand Deals

The Nnewvante laptop stand is an excellent choice for lazier days when you want to work from your bed or couch. You can’t adjust the height, but you can raise the base to an angle that’s more suitable to whatever you’re doing (like typing on a laptop, sketching, or eating breakfast), and the built-in stopper keeps things from sliding off of it. there’s a drawer too, so you can store all your fun knickknacks.
This is a great option for tablets—the minimal stand raises it by 18 inches. It’s also ideal if you regularly draw or work off of it. But you can also use it with a laptop too. It’ll help angle the machine to a more comfortable typing position.

You can also adjust the angle or remove the sides. There’s also space underneath to store your keyboard, notebooks, and other accessories.
