The Church of Scientology Celebrates With the Latino Community

With a community as diverse as Los Angeles, there is always something to celebrate at the Church of Scientology.

    Press Release

    updated: May 11, 2018

People from more than 140 countries, speaking 224 different identified languages, currently call Los Angeles home. And as the Church of Scientology makes its facilities available to nonprofits for their events, there is a wide variety of celebrations hosted there throughout the year.

Just one example was the festival held in the chapel May 5 for Mexican and other Latin American communities. More than 30 guests gathered at the church to dance, sing and celebrate in a joyous Cinco de Mayo celebration — a tradition in California’s huge Latin community.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862 in the Franco-Mexican War. For Mexicans-Americans, the holiday represents Mexican culture and pride.

Two guests performing karaoke inspired the crowd to take part in the singing, with an energy typical of the spirit the Mexican community brings to the city of Los Angeles.

Those attending were delighted with the surprise performance of an Ecuadoran singer who shared his passion and talent for Mexican music, entertaining everyone present. The singer spoke of his pleasure in supporting Cinco de Mayo as a symbol of the freedom-loving Mexican community.

The Church of Scientology Los Angeles is proud to host these celebrations and support the cultural traditions of the city’s many vibrant communities.

Those attending were warmly invited to return Saturday, May 12, for the celebration of the anniversary of the publication of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Healththe most widely read and influential book ever written about the mind.

Nexeraa Technologies seeks to revolutionize software industry with positive social change.

    Press Release

    updated: Apr 9, 2018

Nexeraa Technologies, an open-sourced, non-programmer’s freeware development platform that is seeking to transform the lives of everyday people in our world today, is proud to announce they have launched their initial crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

Determined to map the shortest path to efficiency and agility, Nexeraa wants to equip as many people as possible with life-changing opportunities which will make their value more than that of a robotic counterpart.

Together, with the help of the community, we are working preemptively to do something about the impending robotics age. We need everyone’s interested support to make a difference and curtail the predicted unemployment that is coming. That is why we have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that is aimed at doing just that. We’re all gifted. We believe that everyone has something special to give.

    Novem Yong, Founder

Through open-sourced development and a desktop-based drag-and-drop automation application, Nexeraa has created a software tool with unlimited automating potential.

“As society heads toward the digital edge, a world in which robots have assumed most jobs leaving millions unemployed, we’ve developed a platform that is going to make a shift,” said Novem Yong, Founder and Owner of Nexeraa Technologies.

“Together, with the help of the community, we are working preemptively to do something about the impending robotics age.”

Nexeraa’s software application enables users with a computer and basic knowledge of Internet functionality to complete more value-added tasks daily. The platform leverages and reverses the same technology used to create unemployment in the first place. This allows potential opportunities to become available to individuals before they lose their own employment.

“We proudly program for humanity, not for profit,” said Novem. “Our open-source library provides free educational resources, gearing up everyday people for the invisible war that is to come.”

“We need everyone’s interested support to make a difference and curtail the predicted unemployment that is coming. That is why we have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that is aimed at doing just that.”

Everyday people can go into Nexeraa, drag-and-drop what they would like the application to mimic through a desktop, and sit back while the software provides the support and confidence these people need to feel valued in a digital age.

Nexeraa has until May 9, 2018 to meet their fundraising goal on Indiegogo.

“Automation will help people free up more time for a more value-added task today,” said Novem. “We’re all gifted. We believe that everyone has something special to give.”

“Spread the word on the official launch of our crowdfunding campaign. Then head on over to check out our branded videos and campaign information today.”

Congregation Votes Unanimously to Live Its UU Values, Honor the Worth and Dignity of Every Person

    Press Release

    updated: Feb 6, 2018

On Jan. 30, 2018, members of Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church (MDUUC) voted unanimously to authorize its board of trustees to consider and act on requests for physical sanctuary for undocumented immigrants under threat of deportation. The congregation also voted to authorize MDUUC to bear public witness in support of the national Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (BLUU) movements. Both questions were called by the faith community’s board of trustees and strongly endorsed by Lead Minister Reverend Leslie Takahashi, who chairs the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)’s Commission on Institutional Change.

Said Lead Minister Rev. Leslie Takahashi, “In these deeply troubling times, it is truly inspiring to see people reach beyond their knowing and out of their comfort zone. Our vision is to become an exuberantly multicultural, sacred sanctuary for spiritual growth, connection and renewal. I am deeply grateful to Michele Carroll, and the rest of the board of trustees, MDUUC’s Beloved Commitments group, the Racial Justice and the Sanctuary workgroups and my deeply committed colleague the Reverend Neal Anderson for achieving this important milestone in MDUUC history.”

Kirk Cameron Starts Brand New Tour in Baton Rouge

    [ad_1]

Cameron’s “Living Room Reset” is unlike any other event.

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 17, 2018

With nearly 30 years of marriage under his belt, Christian Hollywood Actor Kirk Cameron is hitting the road for a tour he’s calling “Living Room Reset” and a promise that it will be “unlike any event you’ve ever been to.” And for the first time, his wife Chelsea has created some amazing new content to join the tour via video.

On Jan. 26, Cameron will be packing the living room up in a trailer and will be stopping at The Church International in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to speak and provide resources to help strengthen marriages and child-parent relationships.

I’ve found that through the last 22 years of being a dad, 27 years of being a husband – that there’s nothing our family can’t get through, nothing we can’t figure out if we’ll just gather in the living room and take time to reset a few things, to refocus on the things that really matter.

    Kirk Cameron, Actor/Author/Producer/Speaker

“I’ve found that through the last 22 years of being a dad, 27 years of being a husband – that there’s nothing our family can’t get through, nothing we can’t figure out if we’ll just gather in the living room and take time to reset a few things, to refocus on the things that really matter,” explains Cameron in his YouTube trailer.

The Cameron’s have six children, ages 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21. They hope they can teach moms, dads and kids about growing together, learning together, struggling, falling, and recovering – all while learning to trust God more and serve one another better.

One thing this tour is doing that has never been done before is that Cameron is allowing the attendees in every city to custom tailor the discussions each night to what they want to hear. “When an attendee reserves their seat at KirkCameron.com, they will then be asked to select the content they want to hear. I figured, why waste time talking about topics that don’t need to be discussed,” Cameron commented.

“Whether you want to talk about cherishing your spouse for a lifetime, to the why and the how of forgiveness, to parenting skills,” Cameron explains. “This is going to make no two events the same.”

The tour will also feature special guests, well-known Christian music artists and throwback “Growing Pains” surprises.

The first three dates have been announced with the first one kicking off in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Jan. 26. You can find the complete tour schedule and reserve your seat on Cameron’s website.

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 5, 2017

As summer winds down, parents, children, and teachers are preparing for a new school year – and all the emotions that go along with it. Excitement, anticipation and hope for a new start, with simultaneous feelings of nervousness, anxiety and unease about a new and unfamiliar experience. PhysicianOne Urgent Care is no stranger to helping turn feelings of unease and anxiety around for their patients. This September, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is honoring local educators and coaches who help students navigate these feelings every day, through a “Thank a Teacher” contest.

During the month of September, community members may submit their “thank you” to the educator who has made a difference in their lives, be it a teacher, coach or administrator. After submitting the digital “thank you,” the recognized educator will receive a personalized thank you email, and will also be entered to win a Dunkin’ Donuts® gift card. Each “thank you” also counts as one vote for the educator’s school district. The school district with the most nominations will receive a donation from PhysicianOne Urgent Care for the 2017-2018 school year.

We are happy to support the educators in our communities who help their students tackle challenges and offer reassurance. Kiwi Energy Sponsors NYC Century Bike Tour

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 29, 2017

For the third year running, Kiwi Energy will be sponsoring the NYC Century Bike Tour as a continuation of their partnership with Transportation Alternatives.

Transportation Alternatives has led the transformation of New York City’s transportation network by continuing to develop sustainable, efficient ways of maneuvering around the city since 1973. Their work includes the production of large-scale bike events for both novice and experienced cyclists, including the unique bike tour offered in the U.S., the NYC Century Bike Tour. Not only is this the nation’s only all-urban 100-mile bike tour option, but all distance routes of the tour were designed to exhibit the interconnectivity of the different neighborhoods in New York City and reveal how simple and safe it can be to commute by bike.

Supporting the NYC Century Bike Tour is a great way for New Yorkers and tourists alike to demonstrate their support of safer streets while being associated with one of the most exciting bike adventures in the city.

Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy

Since the inaugural NYC Century Bike Tour in 1990, the city’s greenway system has expanded more than tenfold. This year, the Century Ride will showcase a carefully curated section of the city’s now 1,000+ miles of bike lane networks and greenways. The first NYC Century Bike Tour attracted only 200 dedicated New York City bicyclists, many of whom were daily bicycle commuters already advocating for better bicycling conditions in the city. Today, the ride attracts more than 6,000 people. Today’s riders include New Yorkers, as well as visitors coming from across the states and even from around the world. Many bicyclists return year after year because they know that the NYC Century Bike Tour is one of the best ways to experience the diversity and scope of New York City.

All riders have the option to choose which distance they wish to participate in. The newest route – the “family friendly” 15 begins at Prospect Park and crosses into Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge, traveling up Manhattan’s East Side into the NYC Century Festival at Central Park. The other options include the 35, 55, 75, or 100-mile bike ride. All rides begin at either Prospect Park or Central Park.

The day will end with the NYC Century Festival in Central Park, where riders can celebrate, refuel, and relax after the ride with treats, giveaways, and various different food options.  Kiwi Energy will also have a tent at the finish line where participants, friends, and family can grab a refreshing Kiwi after the ride.

“Supporting the NYC Century Bike Tour is a great way for New Yorkers and tourists alike to demonstrate their support of safer streets while being associated with one of the most exciting bike adventures in the city.” – Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy.

    Date: Sunday, Sept. 10th

Location: Starting at either Central Park or Prospect Park

    Press Release

    Oct 21, 2016

The annual ANDRUS Gala is being hosted Friday, November 4 at the Ritz-Carlton in White Plains NY. Cocktails begin at 6pm with a benefit dinner to follow. This year the gala honors Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and ANDRUS alum Henry Dobell.

Mayor Mike Spano, a lifelong Yonkers resident, husband, father of three, and former State Assembly Member, has dedicated his life to standing up for Yonkers families. Since taking office as Yonkers’ chief executive in 2012, Mayor Spano has lead Yonkers’ revitalization with innovative new projects that are transforming Yonkers’ growing waterfront, attracting new businesses, tech companies and the arts, and creating hundreds of new jobs across the city. Mayor Spano is committed to securing a strong financial future for Yonkers by building upon its greatest strengths – its location, its history, its pride and its people.

With Henry Dobell, what you see is not what you get. Though obviously a passionate adventurist, musician and lay scientist, hidden is his capacity for empathy and deep concern that the weakest among us be treated equally. Henry’s life long struggle with mental illness has lead him to advocate for how the “Flow State” can keep people healthy and positive. Henry attended the Orchard School from 2003-8. ANDRUS taught him the life skills that have allowed him to thrive.
