Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Weekend

    [ad_1]

    Aannnnddd we’re
back with another weekend playlist curated by yours truly. Luckily enough for all of us, this time of year is a hotspot for releasing new music. As I mentioned last week, we are now witnessing the competition for Song Of The Summer, and honestly I don’t know if we’ve heard it yet.

So this week I’m feeling extra hopeful that more music is here to get us through these next few hot months. Nothing complements those days spent roasting on the beach quite like having a playlist to get you through. It’s almost as essential as staying hydrated and wearing sunscreen –
    almost.

Every week, I’m scouring Spotify New Music Friday playlists, I’m taking in recommendations, and I’m listening to the songs myself. I’m specifically choosing songs that will stand out to you and your friends as you pack your schedule with weekend getaways and parties on rooftops.

This week, we have new music from the lovely Lewis Capaldi, Popdust favorite Austin Millz, and more…so it’s turning out to be one of my fave playlists yet.
Here’s my new playlist of songs that came out around today, May 19.

Lewis Capaldi – Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent

The thing about Lewis Capaldi is that he will never disappoint. His voice is unmatched, leaving nothing to be desired and everything on the table. It’s what got him chart-topping records like “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go”, and this new album is no exception. After a raw documentary and vulnerable, triumphant singles like “Wish You The Best” and “Haven’t You Ever Been In Love Before?”, this album is classic Capaldi, but with a new glimpse inside.

Austin Millz & Alina Baraz – “Breathless”

It’s been a big year so far for Austin Millz, who we’ve covered releasing “Inhale/Exhale” with Sabrina Claudio and “Freeway” with Estelle. He’s performed at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and in Coachella’s Heineken House, and now he’s here releasing “Breathless” alongside Alina Baraz. Pair Millz’ ability to make a catchy beat and Baraz’ smooth, summery vocals and your transported into another world with “Breathless”.

Bad Bunny – “Where She Goes”

You already know you will be hearing this at every bar and club you enter for the foreseeable future. “Where She Goes” sends you right to the club with a punchy beat and his silky voice gliding throughout the whole track. The shocking part is that this music video features Frank Ocean, who has barely been seen the last decade. The video is riddled with other stars like Lil Uzi Vert and soccer star Ronaldinho.

Lana Del Rey – “Say Yes To Heaven”

It only made sense for Lana Del Rey to finally release “Say Yes To Heaven” after the unreleased version blew up on TikTok. It’s an essential Lana song, with her unique tone and crooning sound that sends you back to sometime far in the past. Her voice is like the summer, and this single is just what you need alongside you at the beach.

    Post Malone – “Mourning”

With a new album coming soon and more live performances on deck, Post Malone is constantly showing us how a hit record is made. It’s his classic tone, a little sprinkling of vulnerability, and a must-listen. If it’s any indication of what the rest of the album sounds like, you won’t want to miss it.

  • Concerts To See This Summer 2023

Concerts To See This Summer 2023

    [ad_1]

We are quickly approaching the summer, which means people are already filling their calendars with weekend trips and outdoor plans. Outdoor concert venues are re-opening for the season, and tickets are quickly selling out. Plus, the rolling lineup of music festivals keeps growing — my budget can barely keep up.

I’m always down for live music. I will go anywhere where there’s a live band, even if they’re just performing covers at a bar. Sometimes, my passion for live music leads to the greatest nights of my life — like my residency at Harry’s House at Madison Square Garden. Other times, it’s a cautionary tale — like my Coachella experience… enough said.

So you can imagine my unbridled excitement when my favorite artists embark on world tours in the summer. Needless to say, I’m ready, willing, and able to go broke.

I am always stuck in some Ticketmaster queue lamenting, every decision I’ve made up until that point. If I am allowed to buy tickets after sometimes an hour of waiting in that treacherous line, I’m almost obliged to buy one.

Maybe it’s the constant stream of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour content I’m getting on my social media. Or the looming Beyonce Renaissance tour that will soon compete with Taylor’s. Or all of this chatter about Morgan Wallen canceling his shows for vocal rest.

No matter what, I’m itching to hear some live music. If you can tell, I’m planning on attending as many concerts as humanly possible (wallet permitting). And if you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about the same.

It may be difficult to keep track of all of these tours happening at once — especially during the summer when you want to shut off your brain instead of planning anything. So, here is a list of which tours to look out for this summer. All you have to do is brave the Ticketmaster queue. Good luck to us all.

The Jonas Brothers – The Tour

The Jo-Bros are going on tour Eras- style…playing their new music from their new album, The Album, along with classics from each of their beloved past albums. Despite the fact that we have seen Kevin, Joe, and Nick grow up in front of our very eyes…we’re eager to be plunged back into our Disney Channel-era selves the moment Burnin’ Up comes on.

    Blink-182 –  2023 Tour

Following their first on-stage reunion at 2023 Coachella, Blink-182 is coming back to a stage near you. Nothing feels better than bringing back that early 2000s angst with some vintage Blink, and they’ve proven they’re still the same rock band we know and love. Travis Barker is still playing the drums sans shirt — just this time, he’s married to Kourtney Kardashian. How time flies.

    Ed Sheeran – Mathematics Tour

Fans went crazy when Ed Sheeran released Subtract, the final mathematics-themed album of his discography. With a brand new documentary, Sheeran is red hot coming into the 2023 summer.

Top that off with his Mathematics Tour, which has opening acts like the lovely Khalid, and viral videos of him jumping on top of cars to serenade surprised New Yorkers. He’s known for putting on one of the best concerts you can attend, and it’s worth the money every time.

Zac Brown Band – From The Fire Tour

So Morgan Wallen canceled a few shows and everyone’s wondering what to do now. One of the most classic, fun country concerts you can go to is ZBB. They’ve created hit after country hit, toured stadiums across the country, and are ready to go back at it.

    Beyonce – Renaissance World Tour

If you could be so lucky to get tickets to the Renaissance Tour, then you need to go see one of the best in the business do her thing. She’s got powerhouse vocals and choreography, lights, and backup dancers — it’s an entire production. Seeing Queen Bey reminds you how live performances can completely change the way a song sounds to you.

    Drake & 21 Savage  – It’s All A Blur Tour

One of the hottest tickets in town this summer is Drake and 21 Savage’s tour. Tickets sold out in mere minutes to hear the duo perform their album, Her Loss. It’s guaranteed to be rap’s biggest concert of the year, with two of the biggest artists in their genre taking the stage together.

  • Time Is a Flat Circle in the Coachella Desert

Time Is a Flat Circle in the Coachella Desert

    [ad_1]

It’s Monday in mid-April, also known as that brief nether-time between Coachella weekends. Historically, it’s a time when one pores over the artifacts from the festival’s first half, reliving the live streaming and scrolling through the photographs to see who was there wearing some outfit. It’s a time to remember the Coachellas of yore, and ask, Can you believe this is still part of our world? It’s been a thing for so long, and yet, it’s still a thing. Yes, inertia can still be surprising.

The nearly 25-year-old music festival in the California desert paused for three years over the pandemic, before coming back in 2022. This is the first spring it feels like it’s back in full force though, with performances from Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and an odd one from Frank Ocean. These certainly are relevant acts that many were excited to see. But whether it’s because of the hiatus or for some other reason, the spring festival feels eternally like the 2010s.

The celebrities, at least, seemed to be reliving the glory days. There were Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello making out like it was 2019 (the couple broke up in 2021, and one anonymous source told Page Six that this did not mean they’re back together). Leonardo DiCaprio hung out with model Irina Shayk, coparent with Bradley Cooper, along with a “bevy of beauties” like it was 2013. Revolve “activated in the desert” again, while other brands “generated organic placements” with their own activations, as they did when Instagram was the new and exciting social media site. These are missives from another time.

One sign that Coachella does not simply exist as hologram beamed through Instagram from some time between 2012 and 2015 is this:

    Twitter content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

There was a time when Vanessa Hudgens would move mountains to party in the desert. And now, for whatever reason, she had to miss weekend one. She’s practically abandoned her post! Was caught sleeping on the job! Has moved on! Except, well, there’s always weekend two for Hudgens, and as for the Groundhog Day of it all? At least she’s experiencing “FOMO,” a very 2014 emotion.

  • ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Ariana Madix Says She Feels ‘Amazing’ In Wake Of Tom Sandoval Split

‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Ariana Madix Says She Feels ‘Amazing’ In Wake Of Tom Sandoval Split

    [ad_1]

    By Miguel A. Melendez, ETOnline.com.

Ariana Madix is living her best life right now. In fact, she feels amazing!

The “Vanderpump Rules” star was spotted at Coachella on Friday hanging out with social media influencer Farai Bennett, who posted a short TikTok video showing the reality TV star in great spirits. In the video, Bennett says, “Guys, I’m with Ariana. How are you feeling, girlie?”

“Amazing! Yes,” said Madix in response to also being asked if she’s thriving. The social media influencer later added, “What doesn’t kill her, then better run,” to which Madix responded with, “F**k yeah.”

Madix, donning a colorful top and purple-shaded sunglasses, hung out with Scheana Shay and a bunch of other friends as they checked out music acts and brand activations. No word if Madix had a near run-in with Tom Sandoval, who according to Us Weekly, also attended Day 1 of the music festival in the California desert.

Madix’s outing came on the same day ET exclusively reported that Raquel Leviss checked into a mental health treatment facility.

Leviss’ rep told ET, “Raquel and her family decided before the relationship was discovered that she would enter a voluntary facility for mental health counseling.”

Her rep added that Leviss had planned to admit herself before the “VPR” reunion was taped on March 23. “She was scheduled to go in pre-reunion but decided she wanted to finish her filming commitment,” says the rep. “Bravo and production were aware and in support of her journey towards better mental health.”

Leviss’ rep noted that she is not in rehab for substance abuse issues.

Last month, amid allegations that she had a months-long affair with Sandoval during his relationship with Madix, Leviss spoke out about the scandal and touched on her issues in an exclusive statement to ET, saying she was “taking steps to understand my behaviour and make healthier choices.”

As a mental preparation for the summer music festival scene (and my return to the desert next week, I’ve lived vicariously through everyone’s Coachella 2023 outfits this year. Naturally, from TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, it looks like celebrities and influencers alike are taking things ten times more chill this year— reminding us all of the good ‘ole days where Instagram barely existed and green juice wasn’t $17 on the festival grounds. While there were the usual suspects for accessories and clothing items that seem to be Coachella staples year after year, the best festival fashion at Coachella 2023 gives rise to low-rise maxi skirts, simple t-shirts, and bohemian-inspired accessories. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think it was 2013. Pass me my flower crown!

  • Camila Cabello And Shawn Mendes Reunite At Coachella, Huddle With Friends Over Drinks

Camila Cabello And Shawn Mendes Reunite At Coachella, Huddle With Friends Over Drinks

    [ad_1]

    By Miguel A. Melendez, ETOnline.com.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes reunited Friday night at Coachella, and they looked like two good friends having a grand ‘ol time.

Cabello and Mendes were spotted at the music festival in Indio, California chatting it up and sharing drinks with friends. In one video, shared by Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM, Cabello can be seen looking up at Mendes, who is seen intently listening to her as he smiles and holds a drink.

He’s seen wearing a white t-shirt, khakis and a blue headband tied around his neck. Cabello donned a white tank top and jeans. There are reports the duo arrived separately with their group of friends and enjoyed several shows before their late-night encounter.

Pop Crave later posted a short video of Cabello, Mendes and their friends toasting to the night and hanging out over drinks.

Cabello and Mendes dated for two years before breaking up in November 2021. At the time, a source told ET that the relationship ran its natural course after realizing they were on a different page.

“Shawn and Camila’s breakup was mutual,” a source told ET a day after they announced the split. “They realized they are in totally different places in their lives at this point, and it was time to end things. They’re both sad about the split, but doing their best to take care of themselves, stay busy and surround themselves by loved ones.”

They remained friendly after the split, with photographers spotting them hanging out and smiling in Miami nearly two months after breaking up. When Mendes teased new music in January 2022 and asked his fans if they dig it, Cabello responded to his Instagram post and commented, “Ur crazy wildcat.”

After Cabello dropped “Bam Bam,” fans theorized the track’s about Mendes. Then, in a March 2022 interview with Zane Lowe, Cabello evoked Mendes’ name while addressing what inspired her to write the song.

“I f**king … I love Shawn,” she says. “I feel like there’s literally nothing but love for him, and this song is mostly just about, OK, how do I make a song that shows the cycles of love and life and gives people whatever it is that’s going on in your life — whether it’s a breakup or a divorce. Hopefully this [song] can make you be like, ‘It is that way now but things are always taking crazy turns.’”

The following month, Mendes told Ryan Seacrest on his “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” show and said he “loved Camila for so many years, and that’s never gonna change.”

In February, Cabello broke up with Austin Kevitch after less than a year of dating.

There’s a few things that always loom over Indio, California while everyone is partying in the desert in April— the scorching sun, for one, and the ubiquitous, unmistakable, inescapable presence of Revolve and their mega-watt star-studded crowd of models, influencers, and celebrities. The retailer has worked tirelessly for years to maintain its cool girl image year-round, but for one weekend in April, it shines ten times brighter than usual (and not just because Revolve’s shiny, sequin-covered mini dresses and metallic cowboy boots are on display.)

Festivals— including Coachella, Revolvefest, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and the like—have become synonymous with Revolve’s ever-growing amount of trend-forward clothing and in-house brands. And it’s not by accident: Revolve’s attire is expertly curated, providing their customers with a fashion-forward experience that practically guarantees them internet virality. “The Revolve customer is always looking for a statement piece that draws attention whether it’s a dress, an earring, a shoe, etc,” Revolve’s Chief Merchandising Officer Lauren Yerkes tells Who What Wear. In a world where social media engagement is currency, having something that will set you apart from the crowd is essential: “We know they are coming to us looking for the latest trends and emerging designers that she can tag on Instagram and share with her friends.”

At a glance, Yerkes and her team are already predicting some big winners at Revolvefest and Coachella later this month: “We have seen trends change over the years but crochet, mesh, and any sheer elements seem to remain consistent,” she explains. “This year we feel strongly about metallics, western elements, nods to the 90’s, sneakers, and cowboy boots.” We’re sold already.
