Incannex Starts Phase 2 Clinical Trial Of CBD-Based Drug For Use In Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis – Incannex Healthcare (NASDAQ:IXHL) – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Incannex Healthcare Limited IXHL IHL has commenced a phase 2 clinical trial to assess the safety and efficacy of its proprietary anti-inflammatory combination drug IHL-675A in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (‘RA’). IHL-675A is a proprietary fixed dose combination drug comprising CBD and hydroxychloroquine (‘HCQ’).

This phase 2 clinical trial follows the successful phase 1 clinical trial whereby IHL-675A was observed to be well tolerated, with no adverse events of concern. Prior to commencing clinical trials, Incannex observed positive results from an animal model of RA. The reduction in disease assessments achieved by IHL-675A were 1.06-3.52 times that observed for HCQ alone at the standard dose.

The phase 2 trial now commenced will assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of IHL-675A compared to the respective component active pharmaceutical ingredients, CBD and HCQ, and placebo. The treatments will be double blinded, meaning neither the investigators nor patients will know which treatment an individual is receiving. The trial will be managed by Avance Clinical, an Australian and US CRO, who will identify and onboard 8-10 clinical trial sites with expertise in RA to conduct patient recruitment and assessments.

The phase 2 trial will include 120 participants who meet the eligibility criteria. Participants will be randomized to one of four arms: either IHL-675A, CBD alone, HCQ alone or placebo. The primary endpoint of the trial is pain and function, relative…

Melbourne leads CBD retail recovery – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Grant Cohen, whose family owns tourism gem The Block Arcade on Melbourne’s Collins Street, and who famously compared the Melbourne CBD to “a bit of a ghost town” in July 2020, said the mall was benefiting from both the return of Asian tourists and international students.

“Uni students are lining up at our [famous] tearooms again. Things have gone back to normal very quickly,” Mr Cohen told The Australian Financial Review.

The improvement recorded in Melbourne by CBRE was foreshadowed by City of Melbourne data released in January, which showed that while foot traffic was still slightly down on pre-pandemic levels, people were spending more than they did before COVID-19.

Quiet streets: Melbourne during a lockdown in October 2021. Eddie Jim

Office occupancy hit a pandemic high of 57 per cent in Melbourne in November, according to the Property Council, while its city hotels were 60 per cent full on average in 2022 (up from 37 per cent in 2021), according to STR.

CBRE associate director of retail leasing, Jason Orenbuch said the significant decline in the Melbourne CBD vacancy rate could be partly attributed to traditional leasing demand in the lead-up to Christmas and the holiday period, with specialty pop-up shops filling many vacant stores.

“While these pop-up lease terms are generally short, they’ve enhanced shopper visitation and there is more buzz in the city.” Mr Orenbuch said.

“Takeaway food outlets have also filled many vacancies as international students…

NY Faces Major Marijuana Supply Chain Bottlenecks As Licenses Lag Behind Demand – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Farmers in upstate New York have produced nearly 300,000 pounds of weed, valued at three-quarters of a billion dollars. However, only a few state-licensed retail marijuana businesses have opened their doors since recreational sales started.

The state has licensed more farms than dispensaries, creating a surplus of unsold produce.

    Certification And Distribution Bottlenecks

At Hudson Cannabis, which is licensed to produce 43,000 square feet of cannabis flowers, Melany Dobson “has 2,700 pounds of old buds stacked to the ceiling in storage containers awaiting certification from one of the five state testing laboratories,” writes The Guardian. This amount of weed would be valued at $800,000 based on wholesale prices.

Additionally, interstate trade is illegal. “The regulations are confounding,” said Scott Solomon of OSS Inc, a risk management company involved in providing secure transportation. “In New York, businesses have none of the resources of the big cannabis players.”

    How About Social Equity Applicants?

New York lawmakers, in session for 2023, are strangely mum about the state’s failure to raise the $150 million for the much-heralded social equity fund and its role in the state’s legal cannabis rollout.

Despite this outlook, the industry is expected to generate 63,000 jobs across New York by 2025, according to a CannaBiz Team report.

CDC Report: Rates of Current Marijuana Use Among Teens Has Steadily Declined Over Past Decade – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

The percentage of high school students who report regularly consuming cannabis has fallen steadily over the past decade, according to data provided by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A newly issued CDC publication, Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary & Trends Report: 2011-2021, finds that the percentage of high-schoolers who report having used cannabis over the past 30 days fell from 23 percent in 2011 to 16 percent in 2021. The decline was more pronounced among males than females.

Commenting on the study’s findings, NORML’s Deputy Director Paul Armentano said, “These latest findings add to the growing body of scientific literature showing that legalization policies can be implemented in a manner that provides access for adults while simultaneously limiting youth access and misuse. Furthermore, these findings stand in sharp contrast to the sensational claims often made by legalization opponents, claims that thus far have proven to be baseless.”

The latest CDC findings are consistent with those of numerous other federally funded national surveys documenting declining rates of cannabis use by young people during the same time that a growing number of states legalized the adult-use marijuana market. Since 2012, 21 states have legalized the use of cannabis products for those age 21 or older.

A previous CDC study, published in 2020, similarly reported that the percentage of high-schoolers who had ever…

    [ad_1]

If you’re a regular cannabis user, it’s a good idea to let your anesthesiologist know before your next medical procedure. According to new guidelines by the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA), anesthesia may not be as effective on heavy marijuana users. That means these patients have an increased likelihood of more pain than usual while recovering from surgery. Even more concerning, the guidelines state that getting high right before an operation can spike your risk of heart complications, including heart attack.

Read on to learn more, and to find out what you can do to help ensure that your next medical procedure goes smoothly.

If you regularly use marijuana, you could be in a world of pain after your next operation, suggest the ASRA’s new guidelines.

While many people use marijuana to help with pain management, experts say high doses can actually increase pain and counteract the effects of anesthesia. So whether you use it recreationally or for medicinal purposes, consider cutting back before going under.

“Even though some people use cannabis therapeutically to help relieve pain, studies have shown regular users may have more pain and nausea after surgery, not less, and may need more medications, including opioids, to manage the discomfort,”…

  • CBD Oils Vs CBD Edibles – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

CBD Oils Vs CBD Edibles – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

View the original article about CBD Oil Vs CBD Edibles at Trust CBD Oils.

When asked to pick one among the multitude of CBD products that are hitting the markets, each one will have a personal choice liked due to specific features of the product. CBD oils and CBD edibles are two CBD options that are quite popular among the CBD users.

In this session, we are making a comparison of CBD oil and CBD edibles.

The most common administering method of CBD oils is sublingual intake but that doesn’t imply that it is the exclusive method of taking CBD oil. CBD oils can be added to edibles and beverages making the edible or beverage similar to any common ingestible CBD product.

In a sublingual method, CBD oil is measured out in a dropper to ensure that the serving is in the right dosage and kept under the tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing it. During the time when the CBD oil is kept under the tongue, CBD in the oil enters the bloodstream directly through the sublingual gland. As the name suggests, CBD edibles are similar to that of any normal edible and the intake method is no different.

CBD is a fat soluble compound and CBD oils are made by dissolving CBD extract into carrier oils. The CBD is extracted using extraction methods like CO2 extraction, ethanol extraction etc.  CBD edibles are prepared by adding CBD extract to traditional edibles like gummies, candies, chocolate etc.

Potency refers to the amount of CBD contained in each serving of the CBD product indicating…

Legalizing marijuana in Ohio is a no-brainer – and overdue: Dave Lange – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — It does seem strange that Ohio voters are being urged to legalize pot by the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol. Barring some new political hurdle imposed by the anti-freedom caucus in Columbus, a constitutional amendment to that effect will appear on the November 2023 ballot.

As we know, or at least should know, alcohol-impaired driving is responsible for thousands of traffic deaths nationally each year. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), that number was 11,654 in 2020, accounting for 30% of all traffic-related deaths.

There is some evidence from the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs that fatal traffic accidents increased by about 4% in states where recreational marijuana has been legalized. However, across states, studies have indicated a variance between a 4% increase and a 10% decrease in fatal accidents following legalization.

Objectivity is elusive in comparing alcohol and marijuana traffic dangers.

More strikingly, though, the CDC reports approximately 140,000 deaths per year resulting from excessive alcohol use in the United States. The CDC also reports an average of six alcohol-poisoning deaths per day. The number of such deaths attributed to marijuana use is close to zero. Even the Drug Enforcement Agency acknowledges that zero deaths from marijuana overdoses have been reported.

By any reasonable viewpoint, it’s marijuana that should be legal and alcohol that should be illegal.

    That actually…
