    I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Anthropologie’s onto something lately. The millennial-favorite brand, which shares owners with Urban Outfitters and Free People, has been quietly rising the ranks among Gen Z, specifically on TikTok, with one item in particular garnering a hefty support system. The piece in question is a braided satchel by designer Melie Bianco that first went viral on the app at the beginning of 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. Then, the oversize shoulder bag came in only muted, minimal shades, though. More recently, however, the retailer added a handful of new color-ways to its offering, one of which just so happens to be the year’s most popular.

    Ever since a fiery shade of red arrived in waves during fashion month in February, the hue’s been everywhere, on shoes, dresses, stockings, and more. But really, the best pieces to emerge thus far have been handbags, so when I noticed that Melie Bianco’s viral Brigitte Large Satchel was getting more color options, red was the one I had my fingers crossed the tightest for. Fortunately for me, not to mention the thousands online who are now enamored with this oversize bag, that’s exactly what I found.     Despite their name, ready-to-wear collections aren’t always wearable. A lot of the time, designers use their biannual runway shows to craft a viral moment or buzzy selection as opposed to pieces that a majority of people will be keen on buying and wearing on a regular basis. So it says a lot about a piece and/or trend when my fellow editors and I either consider purchasing or actually purchase something that’s runway inspired.

    Because of the significance of a shopping event such as this one, I decided that I’d ask my team to tell me about the fall/winter trends that they genuinely have their eyes on for the season ahead, as fall 2023 is approaching fast.     Though I’m totally obsessed with living in New York, before I moved here to the Big Apple I used to live in Los Angeles. I went to fashion school at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising right in Downtown Los Angeles. So and every now and then I get the itch to sit on the beach and have Mexican food that’s actually good, I know it’s time to book a trip. This summer my sister and I swapped the humidity of summer in the city for Erewhon and dry heat and packed our bags for L.A.. Once the flights we’re booked the next step was obviously to plan all of my looks for the trip. With so many of my favorite L.A. spots on my list and so many old friends to rekindle with I wanted all of my outfits to be perfect for each and every occasion.

    After lots of research on Instagram digging for outfit inspiration and scrolling for hours on my favorite retailers websites, I think I did a pretty good job. Half of the trip I spent in Hollywood at the chic smaller hotel next to The Thompson the very California Tommie Hollywood which was perfect for all of the nearby restaurants we wanted to hit before heading back to New York. The other half of the time we were staying in my old stomping grounds at the AC Hotel by Marriott Downtown Los Angeles, which was perfect for catching up with my old friends from college who still live near our old FIDM campus. Over all on my whole trip I had 5 outfits that stood out among the rest, and gained me the most compliments by far.

    My closet isn’t just full, it’s absolutely overflowing. Sand might be a natural pedicure, but even the whitest of beaches can’t fix my toes after a summer of days spent stomping on concrete in four-inch heeled flip-flops.
