I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Anthropologie’s onto something lately. The millennial-favorite brand, which shares owners with Urban Outfitters and Free People, has been quietly rising the ranks among Gen Z, specifically on TikTok, with one item in particular garnering a hefty support system. The piece in question is a braided satchel by designer Melie Bianco that first went viral on the app at the beginning of 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. Then, the oversize shoulder bag came in only muted, minimal shades, though. More recently, however, the retailer added a handful of new color-ways to its offering, one of which just so happens to be the year’s most popular.
Ever since a fiery shade of red arrived in waves during fashion month in February, the hue’s been everywhere, on shoes, dresses, stockings, and more. But really, the best pieces to emerge thus far have been handbags, so when I noticed that Melie Bianco’s viral Brigitte Large Satchel was getting more color options, red was the one I had my fingers crossed the tightest for. Fortunately for me, not to mention the thousands online who are now enamored with this oversize bag, that’s exactly what I found.
