Get In, We’re Going Shopping: The 6 Cool Fall Trends Gen Z Is Buying This Fall

    [ad_1]

Gen Z Says is a bi-monthly column chronicling the latest trends in the fashion and beauty space through the lens of Who What Wear’s own Gen-Z editors. Expect a download on the upcoming class of tastemakers, emerging designers, and shopping and style choices straight from the generation setting the trends.

Fall weather has only just started, yet my TikTok feed has been filled with users sharing the buys and trends they’re most excited about this season. And as expected, the Gen Zers have stirred the pot, with Millenials in their comments section begging them not to bring certain styles back. (Cuffed jeans were a standout hot topic.) Well, fashion is circular, and despite their best efforts, trends of the past will become new again. The Pinterest boards are filled with ’90s and Y2K images, and my generation certainly knows how to revitalize a trend that you thought was buried away in the past. But don’t fret, not every Gen Z loved trend is as divisive as cuffed jeans, some have reached the masses of all ages.

Even if you don’t consider yourself amongst Gen Z (I’m 25, so I’m very much on the cusp), the trends below are ones to keep on your radar this season. I searched through the accounts of Gen Z celebrities and influencers and took note of the common themes throughout their recent outfits. You can choose to go all in and purchase a pair of metallic pants and cuffed jeans, or you can add subtle cool hues to your wardrobe with a satin bow or silver earrings. Either way, shopping within this article is something that’s going to be hard to resist.

Keep scrolling to see all of the Gen Z fashion trends that are defending what’s cool this season.

  • The Only Flat Shoe That Matters If You Want to Look Chic This Fall

The Only Flat Shoe That Matters If You Want to Look Chic This Fall

    [ad_1]

To test how big a fashion trend is, I assess how prevalent it is both on people and in stores. Do I see it worn often online or on the streets? Can I buy it easily and at all price points? Then, there are my personal litmus tests for whether I’d like to dip my toes in. Is it cute? Is it comfortable?

Well, folks, I’m here to tell you that today’s shoe trend not only passed every one of the above with flying colors but its positive attributes expand from there. The Mary Jane flat isn’t just cute and accessible. (For reference, though, Nordstrom has a whole section devoted to them right now.) It’s sleek, functional, and simultaneously a very classic choice you can hold on to for years and years to come. Yes, it’s particularly “cool” right now, but to me, the best trends are ones that are rooted in simplicity. The Mary Jane will function more like a basic for your fall and winter wardrobe, and I think it’s just the upgrade we all need.

Of course, the proof is in the pudding. Aside from my chic colleague Anna’s outfit above, continue on for seven more snaps featuring this of-the-moment trend along with some of my favorite options to buy right now ranging from $50 to $500-plus.

  • Sorry, Not Sorry: The 7 “Boring” Staples We Keep Wearing This Year

Sorry, Not Sorry: The 7 “Boring” Staples We Keep Wearing This Year

    [ad_1]

While the words “basics” and “staples” may not set your pulse racing like this season’s buzzier trends (sheer skirts and sequins come to mind), there’s a reason we talk about them so often here at Who What Wear. Basics are the bread and butter of our wardrobes—versatile, effortless, easy, and chic—and lucky for us, they’re having a moment in the spotlight for fall/winter 2023.

One of the prevailing messages on the runways was wearability with an emphasis on elevated basics as well as fresh silhouettes and wearable color trends that are easy to style within your daily ensembles. The plain-speaking pieces may appear “boring” at first glance, but it’s really all about the way you wear and style them that makes the big difference. Take one gray hoodie and pair it with a camel coat and leggings, and you have a Miu Miu look that’s cool and commuter-ready.

Today, I’m highlighting some of the staples we editors here at Who What Wear are fully endorsing in our daily wardrobes this season. Many of them are pieces we have already been wearing and loving most of the year, from button-downs to ballet flats. Keep scrolling for our unapologetic love for the basics.

  • I Knew This Micro-Trend Was Legit When 5 Who What Wear Editors Bought It

I Knew This Micro-Trend Was Legit When 5 Who What Wear Editors Bought It

    [ad_1]

You know the meme of one Spider-Man pointing at another Spider-Man wearing the same outfit? Yep, that was us Who What Wear editors during fashion week. While doing a deep dive through many tabs of the online shopping that occurs pre-fashion week, we found ourselves adding one micro-trend to cart. In this case, it was what I’m calling the “tuxedo top.”

In a completely unplanned coincidence, three editors ended up in a matching set from Pixie Market (which is super easy to slip on if you want to look professional) and two others ended up going all in on a Tory Burch top that, if you’re daring enough, can also be worn as a dress. I already had my eyes on this tuxedo-style top trend, but now more than ever, I’m looking for ways to add it to my closet. Plus, it’s so easy to wear with jeans. Keep scrolling to shop the trend.

These Are the Fall-Ready Ensembles to Add to Your Transitional Wardrobe

    [ad_1]

If there was one piece of clothing that I overcompensated on last fall, it was pants. So this season, I decided to give myself a “pants ban,” opting to focus on knitwear and accessories instead. I’m a firm believer that these are the items that can make or break a fall outfit, so I want to invest in expensive-looking pieces that I’ll be able to wear for many years. For this reason alone, I made my way over to QVC. The retailer has really surprised me with an array of fall finds, especially in the site’s pre-owned section. (I’m still salty about missing out on an original ’90s Dior saddle bag.) The site’s carefully curated knitwear basics are the front-runners in my cart, making the hard task of refreshing my seasonal closet that much easier. Keep scrolling to take a look at the pieces that I’m taking to checkout.

  • I Hadn’t Checked Mango in Months, so I Gasped When I Saw These 6 Fall Trends

I Hadn’t Checked Mango in Months, so I Gasped When I Saw These 6 Fall Trends

    [ad_1]

As much as I love Mango, I have to admit, my mind hasn’t been on shopping lately In between turning over my closet, getting ready for fashion month, and traveling internationally, I’ve let my fall wishlist go to waste, opting to deal with the fiasco of denim-shopping and trend-spotting when life settles down. That doesn’t stop me from compulsively checking stores online though, and after a particularly long plane ride where there was nothing else to do but shop online, I’m (ashamed) to admit I did some major damage while browsing Mango.

For the last few months, the Spanish retailer has been consistently releasing jaw-dropping pieces and of-the-moment hero styles that have taken over our editors hearts, minds, and wallets: don’t just take it from me, take it from our work Slack channel that’s constantly filled with adorable Mango pieces and corresponding links to shop them.

After browsing Mango’s new arrivals, accessories, and seasonal campaign sections, I’ve been convinced it’s the only place you should shop for the rest of the season. Below, scroll to discover 6 of fall’s best trends and all of the can’t-miss Mango finds you can buy to get the look.

Fashion People Love This Classic L.A. Brand—12 Fall Items I Tried and Loved

    [ad_1]

Around five years ago, I was introduced to the California-based brand Rails. I purchased a very Jeanne Damas–esque floral midi skirt that I still wear to this day—a testament to its great quality. Needless to say, I’ve been hooked ever since. I come back to Rails time and again when I’m looking for effortlessly elegant pieces that are fashion-forward yet have a timeless quality to them. The brand has come to define a new classic heritage and relaxed sensibility, merging Cali comfort with European sophistication. I always spot the brand on a number of influencers and fashion people, and for fall, I decided to do a big Rails try-on haul because its latest pieces are just too good not to share.

Its fall collection embodies that effortlessly chic French-girl aesthetic that we talk about so often here at Who What Wear. It’s a chic mix of modern silhouettes and classic pairings with a refined Parisian sensibility. Below, I’m sharing some of the chicest items I tried on that I absolutely can’t stop raving about. From easy striped knit sweaters to silky skirts and timeless blazers, take a peek below at every item I tried and loved from Rails’ fall collection and then shop them for yourself.

  • I’m Leveling Up My Fall Fashion With These 16 Staples

I’m Leveling Up My Fall Fashion With These 16 Staples

    [ad_1]

This fall is really special for me—it’s my first time being in New York City during NYFW. As you can imagine, seeing this season’s array of bold runway and streetwear trends firsthand has inspired me to step into my most empowering sense of style. To accomplish this, I went straight to editor-favorite retailer Net-a-Porter. The site carries renowned designers including Jacquemus, Khaite, The Row, Gucci, and Chloé as well the new luxury labels that only cool fashion people (like you) know. Of course, I found all the runway trends that I want to wear, the first being power dressing because we all know that elevated tailoring gives you a special kind of confidence. Minimalist basics such as belts and sweaters complement this trend really well, and they also make the perfect canvas for attention-grabbing accessories like oversize handbags and over-the-knee boots. And in case you didn’t know already, red is undoubtedly the color of the season, so I’m adding splashes of this hue to my looks wherever possible. Keep scrolling to see my complete fall edit.

  • The Top New York Fashion Week Trends, According to Our Editors

The Top New York Fashion Week Trends, According to Our Editors

    [ad_1]

    KC: What else trend-wise?

EH: Another one is this trend that we called ready-to-wear [last season], which is just this hyper-wearable trend that skews away from those really loud, hard-to-style pieces and is just super classic.

If you buy into it, you can have those pieces for the rest of your life, and they’re not boring. You can still style them up in really, really interesting ways using things like those chrome moments or plenty of other styling methods. We saw a ton of it this week. Tibi’s whole collection really felt like a “building blocks of your wardrobe” type of collection. Proenza [Schouler] had those loud moments as well, but really at the backbone of it were really classic, timeless pieces.

KC: At first glance, overall, there was a trend of quietness on the runway. Sometimes, you want to be shocked and awed by the visuals of it, but I do think the wearability element… I’m glad that designers are taking this into consideration, and it does feel like the runway to real way is not such a big gap anymore.

I’m a Shopping Expert, and These Are the Best Designer Fashion Finds at Saks

    [ad_1]

If you were to ask me which department store I frequent the most, the answer would be Saks. Every season, I take a look at its new-arrivals section and pick the pieces to add to my wardrobe, careful not to fall victim to overzealous shopping sprees. Seasonal knitwear and shoes are a must this fall, along with accessories I can take with me into winter.

So which brands are making the wardrobe-refresh list this time around? Khaite is at the top of my list, with fall staples such as the Lavan Cropped Cashmere Cardigan and the most perfect pair of dark-wash straight-leg jeans. Loewe also came in hot with its popular puzzle tote bag. Ahead, you’ll find all the pieces I’ve got my eye on from the Saks fall fashion assortment.

I Made an Urgent Shopping List for Shopbop’s Temporary, Epic Fall Sale

    [ad_1]

Every once in awhile, Shopbop decides to surprise its loyal customers with an epic surprise sale. And if you love Shopbop, this week is off to a great start because that’s exactly what it did. Shopbop is offering 20% off on tons of new fall styles as well as an extra 20% off of all sale items. (Just use the code FALL20 at checkout.) The only catch is that the sale is very temporary, so you have until the end of the day on September 20 to get the deals.

So what does one do when one is a fashion editor and there’s a major Shopbop sale? Drop everything to shop it, just as yours truly did. I was actually blown away by how much brand-new fall stuff is included in the sale—and even from rarely on-sale brands like Reformation and Agolde. 8 Easy Fall Trends We Spotted on the Streets of London

Following the rainy but exciting energy of Copenhagen and joyful buzz of New York, London Fashion Week is now coming to a close—and while we’ve been keeping a close eye on all the fresh styles coming off the runways, there’s no doubt we’ve also been swooning over all the coolest street style looks coming straight out of the British capital.

After spending the weekend scouring a mountain of street style images, today, I’m highlighting eight easy trends I noticed popping all over the streets of London. While the street style scene can be incredibly theatrical (there were plenty of showstopping prints, froufrou skirts, sequins, and eye-catching adornments), we find ourselves drawn to the wearable and easy outfits we can actually use as styling inspiration for the months (if not years!) to come.

From cinched waists to Mary Janes, these chic styles are easy to emulate for yourself. Take a peek.

It’s Not Just You—These 30 J.Crew, Nordstrom, and H&M Picks Are Everywhere RN

    [ad_1]

I don’t know about you, but I, for one, am absolutely over summer. Yep, I’ll say it. I’m over days where the temperature is over 80° and everyone is drinking watermelon or cucumber cocktails. I’m tired of sundresses and sandals. I’m ready for cozy knits, sweaterdresses, and outfits with jeans, boots, and coats. I’m craving whiskey cocktails and Sundays at sports bars with my friends to “watch the game” when we really just need a place to wear our chic but casual fall ‘fits and flirt at the same time.

I’m ready for the leaves to change in Central Park and the hustle and bustle of New York City to come back into full swing after summer vacations and trips to the Hamptons. Unfortunately, we’re fresh off a heat wave in the city, but that hasn’t stopped me from eyeing tons of chic fall arrivals for when it finally gets cool enough to wear all the cool-weather outfits I have been planning for weeks now. To share in the excitement I have for fall, I figured I would put together a list of the fall items from H&M, Nordstrom, and J.Crew that I’m buzzing about. These picks are so good I almost wanted to gatekeep them, but that’s just not my style.

Keep scrolling to see which stylish H&M, Nordstrom, and J.Crew items I’m ordering for the upcoming season.

It Wasn’t Easy But I Just Evicted These 6 Boot Trends From My Closet

    [ad_1]

I’m quite fond of a good old-fashioned closet clean-out, but something I hate getting rid of is shoes. I’m not someone who often wears my shoes out to the point of having to just throw them away, but when I go years without wearing a pair, it’s obvious that they’re just taking up space in my closet.

I’ve just returned from an end-of-summer vacation, and I’ve never been more in the mood to free up some space for some new fall items. And since boots take up a significant amount of room, they’re up first. There are several styles I’ve admittedly been hanging onto for far too long, and I’m finally ready to part with them. The good news is that it’s an incentive to do some shopping new boots.

I take my role as the oldest of four siblings seriously, especially with my sisters. Now, my youngest sister has flown the coop to start her next four years at the University of Southern California, and naturally, of all the questions one younger sister may ask an older sister before she heads to college, all Miki Joshua wants to discuss is what to pack for her big move to Los Angeles and her first semester as a USC Trojan. Now we can’t have her not repping the family name in style, so I rounded up 30 chic but affordable items I knew would guarantee her the title of best dressed on campus.

This $28 J.Lo-Approved Product Took My Hair From Dull to Glossy in 15 Seconds

    [ad_1]

This is the product in question. It’s a spray that keeps hair—whether it’s straight, wavy, or curly—looking super shiny for days on end. When I say days on end, I mean it. It even lasts in between washes, which means you can shampoo your hair three to four times before the shininess wears off.

Think of it like a sealant for the hair, protecting it from humidity and giving it a glossy sheen. It’s all thanks to a proprietary anti-humidity complex, plus chamomilla extract and glycerin. Together, these ingredients give hair a luxurious luster, or, as I like to call it, “the J.Lo effect.”

Minimal jewelry has held center stage for a bit too long because the next big jewelry trend really questions it.
