Drake Announces Release Date for New Album For All the Dogs

    [ad_1]

Drake has shared the release date for his new album For All the Dogs. It’s due out September 22, and is tied to his debut poetry book, Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, which he released in June. Last month he unveiled its artwork, designed by his son Adonis. For All the Dogs is the follow-up LP to 2022’s Honestly, Nevermind and his collaborative LP with 21 Savage, Her Loss.

The day of Titles Ruin Everything’s release, promotional ads ran in The New York Times and other outlets with a QR code atop an image of two puppies and the words “For all the dogs.” Scanning the QR code led to a website with the following message: “I made an album to go with the book. They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.”

Apart from briefly teasing it on his radio show last year, Drake dropped Titles Ruin Everything with minimal advance notice. He co-wrote the 168-page collection with Kenza Samir, a longtime friend and songwriting collaborator who contributed to albums like Views and If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.

When he wasn’t dropping $1 million dollars on a ring designed and worn by 2Pac, Drake spent this summer starring in Young Thug’s “Oh U Went” video and polishing off his freestyle flow. He also used his feature on “Meltdown,” from Travis Scott’s new album, Utopia, to diss Pharrell Williams. Taking aim at his new Louis Vuitton gig as men’s creative director, which was formerly held by the late Virgil Abloh, Drake raps, “Man, fuck all that spinning the narrative shit/I melt down the chains that I bought from your boss/Give a fuck about all of that heritage shit/Since V not around the members done hung up the Louis/They not even wearing that shit.”

Honestly, Nevermind was Drake’s 11th project to land at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and 14th full-length to make it onto the chart’s top 10. Her Loss was similarly successful thanks to singles like “Jumbotron Shit Poppin.” That album hit No. 1 a month later. In the interim, Drake and 21 Savage got sued by Vogue for copyright violation after printing an array of fake magazines, but they have since settled that lawsuit. Their North American tour together in support of Her Loss takes place this summer.

In between Her Loss and his new album, Drake hopped on tracks with Popcaan (“We Caa Done”) and British rapper J Hus (“Who Told You”) and dropped his own song “Search & Rescue.” He also took home the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance with Future and Tems for “Wait for U.”

Four men, aged 18-19, have been arrested after what police are calling a “violent and cowardly” aggravated robbery on a central Auckland street.

At about 5.15am on Sunday three people were approached by a large group of men on High Street in central Auckland, detective senior sergeant Scott Armstrong said.

USDA Certified Organic Tinctures and salves

One person was allegedly punched in the head and knocked to the ground unconscious during the incident, Armstrong said.

“The other males in the group have then set upon the other victims stealing a number of personal items,” he said.

Armstrong said all of the offenders then fled on foot towards Albert Park and three were arrested. One was found with help from a security guard.

One victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

The behaviour of the offenders was “violent and cowardly”, Armstrong said.

“We have no tolerance for this sort of behaviour against people who are just going about their business.

“It is pleasing for police that we have made these arrests and I hope this will bring some reassurance to the victims and our wider community.”

One person was referred to Youth Services and Armstrong said enquiries were continuing.

  • Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen’s Diamonds Album Set for Release: Listen to “November”

Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen’s Diamonds Album Set for Release: Listen to “November”

    [ad_1]

Lil Peep and Makonnen completed the first fifteen of what would be twenty-one songs and would later be known as the album “Diamonds” in Los Angeles, exactly 6 years ago in August of 2017.

Gus was absolutely thrilled about working with Makonnen. When he came home in August, he played those songs for us—over and over. Gus was incredibly proud of those songs.

While Gus was glad to be home for his grandpa’s birthday, he could not wait to get back to making music with Makonnen. He knew there was more music to make, and he knew he had limited time due to his upcoming fall COWYS tour, so he organized his next chunk of studio time so he could meet Makonnen in London, where they made the last batch of songs.

We all waited with anticipation for the release of this album. Then Gus passed away. I knew I had to do everything I could to help get this album released—and released the way Gus and Makonnen had made it.

I am very grateful to Makonnen not only for his patience, grace, and fortitude, but also for the tenderness with which he re-assembled the original “Diamonds Team” to gently prepare the album for its release. He did an amazing job—they all did. Gus would be so proud to know that this album had come out. He would be grateful to his friends for taking the time and care to do it just right.

Margo Price Announces New Album Strays II, Shares New Songs

    [ad_1]

Margo Price has a new album, Strays II, arriving on October 13 via Loma Vista. It’s a companion to her January LP, Strays. Today, Price has shared a handful of tracks from the forthcoming project: “Strays,” the Ny Oh collaboration “Closer I Get,” and “Malibu,” which features producer Jonathan Wilson and Big Thief’s Buck Meek. Check out the new songs below.

Strays II is broken down into a trio of three-track acts: Topanga Canyon, Mind Travel, and Burn Whatever’s Left. Price recorded the material around the same time as the original Strays. Discussing “Strays” in a press statement, Price said:

The title track is the story of how my husband, Jeremy [Ivey], and I met and fell in love in Nashville two decades ago. I wrote most of the words and Jeremy wrote the chords and melody. It also reflects how we have always tried to stay true to who we are as people: “Love and pain it comes in waves but it was quite enough in those early days, we were wild as wolves my darlin’, we were strays.”

Regarding “Closer I Get,” Price remarked:

“Closer I Get” (co-written with Jeremy Ivey) was originally meant to open this double album with the line, “Being alive costs a lot of money but so does dying.” I’ve always thought it was unfair that the moment we are born, we immediately start racking up debt just for existing. This song was conjured from the ashes of our initial psychedelic trip—sometimes your perception and depth of field changes depending on where you’re at in life.

Dolly Parton Reunites the Beatles’ Paul and Ringo for “Let It Be” Cover

    [ad_1]

Dolly Parton has released a new cover of the Beatles’ “Let It Be,” and the song features the two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The cover, also featuring guitar from Peter Frampton and additional percussion from Mick Fleetwood, serves as the latest single from Parton’s guest-packed, rock-devoted album Rockstar. Listen to “Let It Be” below.

In recent years, McCartney and Starr have collaborated on songs like “Here’s to the Nights” and “We’re on the Road Again.” McCartney also took part in a benefit show for Starr’s 80th birthday in 2020.

Parton started unrolling Rockstar a few months after she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Parton had attempted to decline the invitation, claiming that she did not feel that she made music that was rock’n’roll enough to qualify for induction. She eventually walked back her statements before the November induction ceremony.

Rockstar is out November 17 and features Debbie Harry, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Sting, Melissa Etheridge, and more. “Let It Be” is the fifth single from the album, following “World on Fire,” “Magic Man (Carl Version),” “Bygones,” and “We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You.”
