Girl, I Get It: ‘The Idea of You’ Review

    [ad_1]

It’s been a fun and flirty few weeks for film releases. Last year’s surprise summer romance Anything But You finally came to streaming and is sitting pretty on Netflix’s Top 10. Zendaya and Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers is all sweat, sex, scorn, and some truly fine tennis — no wonder it’s the number-one movie at the box office.

And now, the long-awaited Amazon Prime Video drama
The Idea of You is finally-finally out…and the internet can’t get enough.

After months of promo — and
a viral trailer that garnered over 125 million global views across all social media platforms, breaking the record for the most watched trailer for any original streaming movie — Anne Hathaway’s turn as a single mother who falls in love with the most famous popstar on the planet is. Finally. Here.

Any clip of the film reveal what’s at its core: sizzling chemistry, Hathaway’s unfailing charm, and a sudden tenderness that reveals that The Idea of You is not just one more spicy mommy movie (sorry, Fifty Shades of Grey). It’s a character study of Solène, Hathaway’s character, who turns 40 and is a woman in search of herself. Where does she find herself? In the arms of a 20-something-year-old rockstar based loosely on Harry Styles.

Is The Idea of You based on a true story?

    Directed by Michael Showalter,
The Idea of You is based on Robinne Lee’s best-selling novel of the same name. The book’s now cult-like devotees slowly but surely gained momentum. The novel found a feral fanbase during those cold and lonely months of the early pandemic when everyone had the “Watermelon Sugar” music video on repeat simply to recall what outside air and human touch felt like.

But the book initially published way back in 2017 — doesn’t that feel like the Paleolithic Era? — just about a month to the
day after Harry Styles released his debut album. This is significant because, in the years that followed, the book seems to predict certain events and themes in the popstar’s relationships — specifically his headline-grabbing love affair with Olivia Wilde.

The pretty much predictive elements of the book are proof of why Lee’s novel is so compelling. It’s not just about the fantasy. And it’s not, she insists, a fan-fiction — though she has admitted it’s based on Harry Styles as well as Prince Harry and Eddie Redmayne … interesting mix. It’s about love. It’s about women. And it’s about coming of age or coming into your sexuality, at a time when society has put you on the shelf.

Is The Idea of You good?

    The
Idea of You is bringing back the rom-com. Watching the film, I couldn’t help but say aloud: “we’re so back.” From a classic awkward-but-charming meet-cute to the sexy montages of relationship bliss set to upbeat music, The Idea of You does everything you want a rom-com to do. And because it’s been so long since we’ve seen a high-budget romantic comedy of this caliber — with Anne Hathaway no less! — it doesn’t feel trite, it feels refreshing. Invigorating. Addictive.

This is due in no small part to the stunningly sensual performances by Hathaway and her leading man, Nicholas Galitzine (
Bottoms and Red, White, and Royal Blue), who plays Hayes Campbell. Hathaway raves about her co-star’s ability to create chemistry with anyone. So, paired with an Oscar-winning actress, of course, the sparks were flying.

If you didn’t believe in the characters’ chemistry, the film would fall apart. The tension between them must be strong enough to withstand a world tour, societal judgments, and Sol’s own self-doubts. And this pair delivers. As you watch, you’ll fall in love with Galitzine, too. In interviews, he’s got the same quintessential British charm of a young Hugh Grant. On-screen, he’s every bit the magnetic rockstar that easily packs a stadium full of girls hoping to catch his eye and his heart.

For her part, Hathaway plays the somewhat farfetched role with grounded authenticity. She’s not the typical someone who gets swept away by this young rockstar. She’s a complex character who allows herself to take a risk. To meet her complexity, Galitzine has to imbue his own character with far more than rock’n’roll, fake tattoos, and that one little earring. He crafts exactly the kind of dream boy you hope is underneath your fave heartthrobs. Sensitive and boyish, but full of depth, Galitzine’s Hayes Campbell plays perfectly against Hathaway’s Solene —
    literally.

I get what Anything But You is trying to say — but did it get there?

For what it is, this film is spectacular. Give it a Teen Choice Award, a People’s Choice Award,
and a VMA for the promotional August Moon visuals. It’s certified Fresh with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. For too long, the genre’s been handed paltry budgets for trite storylines and left in the dust. But after years of being underinvested in and undervalued by the gatekeepers of cinema, The Idea of You proves why we should bet on character-driven movies about women.

Though we still adore many of those heroines from the rom-com heyday — that includes Anne Hathaway as Andy in
The Devil Wears Prada or The Princess Diaries — there’s one notable difference between this story and the films of yore. Our protagonists’s age.

Despite Hathaway’s youthful appearance, Solène isn’t just some ingenue. She’s not a 20-year-old trying to make it in the big city. She’s not a naive Manic Pixie Dream Girl from a small town whose purpose is to introduce all the beauty in the world to a jaded man. And she’s certainly not a corporate Girlboss who just needs a man to show her there’s more to life. No, Solène’s a divorced mother and gallerist who is on her journey to self-discovery.

We meet her as she’s embarking on a camping trip in an attempt to find herself in nature. But when that camping trip morphs into a chaperoning expedition to Coachella, Solène is thrust into the giddy world of being a rockstar girlfriend for a man more than 15 years her junior.

Anne Hathaway says this age dynamic is part of why she wanted to take on this role. Some skeptics have asked why Hathaway is already being relegated to mom roles or why she took on a fluffy film, the hidden complexity is what drew her to it.

“For some reason, we talk about coming-of-age stories as being something that happens to you in the earliest part of your life, and I don’t know about you, but I feel like I keep blooming,” Hathaway said at the film’s
    SXSW premiere.

Indeed, the film focuses on Sol’s age from many different angles. There are the establishing shots of Sol forced to make lackluster conversation with men her age at her birthday party. There’s her toxic dynamic with her ex-husband and the sense that she’s trying to emerge whole from the shell of a bad marriage. There’s of course, the contrast between her teenage daughter (Ella Rudin) insisting she’s too old for the group August Moon while Sol herself has a steamy affair with its lead singer. But most of the focus on her age is external.

The Idea of You tackles society’s expectations and constraints of middle-aged women. It parrots back outdated attitudes slamdunk debunks them — by showing you that Sol is still sexy, thank you very much.

While looking like Anne Hathaway and being attractive to a 24-year-old shouldn’t be the metrics for one’s worth, they don’t hurt. But in Sol’s case, we don’t see much of her personal development beyond this brief tryst. What we do see, is the people in her life grappling with the external pressures thrust upon them by hyperbolic headlines and social media abuse.

“It’s because you’re a woman,” Rudin’s character plainly states. Yet, the film doesn’t get more nuanced than that. But does it have to? After all, we’ve seen this familiar trope play out in real life. Namely, with Olivia Wilde during the
Don’t Worry Darling press tour firestorm. And I worry any further extrapolation would have resulted in a Barbie-type monologue.

    At its core,
The Idea of You is a step above fan-fiction but it achieves what the best fan-fics do: validate your fantasies. It says, hey [your name], you, too, deserve love. Love in this case is the attention of a Coachella performer (Sabrina Carpenter, call me), but it’s also the belief that you’re worthy of that attention. And watching that sort of lavish affection bestowed on a woman over 25 on screen is refreshing and thrilling.

Even more, it’s proof that the female gaze is ruling cinema and it’s here to stay.

How to watch The Idea of You

The Idea of You is streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting May 2nd.

Like all rom-coms, this movie is just as good if you watch it alone in your room, giggling and kicking your feet as if you’re watching it sleepover-style with all your besties. It’s also screening at a select number of theaters. So, check your local showtimes for tickets, take your blankets to the cinema, and giggle and gasp along with the crowd as you all fall in love with Nicholas Galitzine together.

  • Everything We Know About Amazon’s Fallout TV Show

Everything We Know About Amazon’s Fallout TV Show

    [ad_1]

Yeah, he can have all my caps.
    Photo: Prime Video/YouTube

Ella Purnell’s time on Yellowjackets may be over, but she’s ready to set the world on fire in a new series for Amazon. Purnell joins Walton Goggins and Aaron Moten as the stars of a new show based on the long-running Fallout video-game franchise. Set in a dieselpunk post-nuclear wasteland, the Fallout games explore issues of morality, strategy, and how much Mad Max can inspire a work before you have to give out an associate-producer credit.

Bethesda director Todd Howard said on the Lex Fridman podcast that the show won’t directly adapt any of the games, but instead will go off-map. “For this, it was ‘Let’s do something that exists in the world of Fallout.’ It’s not retelling a game’s story. It’s basically an area of the map and like, Let’s tell a story here that fits in the world we built and doesn’t break any of the rules,” he said. “It can reference things in the games, but isn’t a retelling of the games. It exists in the same world, but it’s its own unique thing, so it adds to it.” Variety says that Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan will executive produce, fresh from Westworld getting sent to the Valley Beyond by HBO.

Various Fallout games have taken place in the irradiated ruins of California, West Virginia, Las Vegas, Boston, and Washington, D.C. Prime Video released a tweet showing people in jumpsuits for Vault 33, which has been identified as part of Los Angeles. Within the games, LA is known as the Boneyard. By 2296 (when the series takes place), the Boneyard has been “civilized” under the New Californian Republic’s flag for years. The Fallout series takes place after all the games, whose timelines give Jeremy Bearimy a run for its money (Fallout Shelter is Tuesdays, and also July, and sometimes never).

Per Variety, Purnell will be playing an “upbeat and uncannily direct” woman, with all-American gumption and a dangerous twinkle in her eye. That describes almost every female NPC in the games. Empire reports that Purnell will be a vault-dweller leaving her safe shelter for the first time ever. Aaron Moten will be playing Maximus, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel (like…techno-monks?). According to Deadline, Goggins is playing a ghoul — humans whose flesh has melted off owing to nuclear radiation. But an upside? They’re essentially immortal. At the show’s March 6 press conference, the crew revealed Goggins’s ghoul is known only as the Ghoul. “The Ghoul is, in some ways, the poet Virgil in Dante’s Inferno. He’s the guide, if you will, through this irradiated hellscape that we find ourselves in in this post-apocalyptic world,” Goggins said. Pre-Great War, the Ghoul was known as Cooper Howard, and he acted as spokesman for Vault-Tec, the shady corporation that built the series’s iconic vaults.

All three will be searching for the same MacGuffin. “We talked a lot about The Good, The Bad And The Ugly,” co-creator Graham Wagner told Empire. “That’s three characters in search of a box of gold, so we asked ourselves, ‘What’s the gold in this world?’” Chris Parnell, Michael Emerson, Zach Cherry, Kyle MacLachlan and Xelia Mendes-Jones have also been cast as series regulars.

Hopefully not. The crew made a point at the March 6 press conference to talk about how cathartic it is working on an apocalyptic show with a sense of humor. “I think you also have a moment that we’re in right now in which the world, you know, it seems to be evermore frightening and dour,” said executive producer and director Jonathan Nolan. “And so an opportunity for us to work on a show that gets to look that in the eye, right, and we get to talk about the end of the world, but to do it with a sense of humor. There’s a thread of optimism woven into the show.”

Funny you should ask. Not only is there a trailer, there are two trailers.

Fallout comes to Prime Video a few days earlier than anticipated. On Monday, they announced the show will be streaming all eight episodes on April 10, 2024.

This story has been updated throughout.

Operation Valentine Ending Explained & Spoilers: How Does Varun Tej’s New Movie End?

    [ad_1]

Varun Tej’s latest movie, Operation Valentine, showcases the harsh reality of the Indian defense forces and their unwavering dedication to protecting the country.

Directed by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, the action thriller is produced by Sony Pictures and God Bless Entertainment. It is based on the 2019 Pulwama Terrorist Attack and the retaliatory Balakot Air Strikes of 2019 by the Indian Air Force. It also stars Manushi Chhillar, Navdeep, and Mir Sarwar in pivotal roles.

Operation Valentines was released worldwide on March 1, 2024. It was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The film will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Operation Valentine ending: Was Arjun able to strike down the enemy?

Towards the end of Operation Valentine, Arjun announces that they only need a single fighter to handle the threat. He reminds Aahna about Project Vajra and believes that taking the risk is worth it if it means saving lives. Arjun’s decision becomes more aggressive when Yash’s aircraft catches fire and crashes. He risks everything by flying close to the ground, but it pays off when he becomes untraceable on the radar.

When the Pakistani fighters shoot at him, they miss the target due to the lack of visibility. As the enemy fighters approach the Jawaharlal Nehru tunnel, Aahna loses all hope. Yet Arjun believes they can overcome the situation. He plans to attack the fighters before they can attack them and successfully takes down the fighter approaching the tunnel.

    Does Arjun’s aircraft crash?

Soon after destroying the enemy jet, Arjun manages to handle the situation and prevents himself from crashing. When Aahna fears that she has lost him, Arjun reconnects to the operations room, much to her relief .

The entire room erupts in cheers, celebrating the success of the entire squadron, particularly Arjun Dev’s. His belief and determination to protect his country helped eliminate the threat. Although Aahna does not agree with his ideas, he emerges victorious neverthless.

    What happens to Yash Sharma?

When Yash Sharma’s aircraft crashed, it was assumed that he had died in action. However, at the end of Operation Valentine, it was confirmed that Yash did survive the crash. His tracker was active, but his aircraft had crashed in Pakistan. The Prime Minister of India declared that if Pakistan wanted peace, they should return Yash.

The government further declared that if they failed to do so by the next day, India would take action. For this, the Indian Air Force had already been given the freedom to act accordingly. Consequently, the Pakistani government had no choice but to agree as they had failed twice and were not in the position to negotiate. In the end, Yash Sharma returned to India and was hailed as a hero.

Operation Valentine is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Growing up a One Direction fan, I am brimming with unnecessary knowledge of four British (and one Irish) men. I have continued to follow
Harry Styles throughout his illustrious solo career, and I still watch their This Is Us documentary once a year. And in the world of boybands and sick obsession comes fan fiction.

Yes, I’m no stranger to the classic fanfic lore: your mother sold you to One Direction because she couldn’t pay her bills, or Harry is the emotionally unavailable soccer star at your school and you, dear Y/N, are the nerd assigned to tutor him. And some fanfics were so addictive that they were turned into films —
see: the After series by Anna Todd.

But now, we’ve been introduced to a new band in a new film that totally doesn’t ring any familiar bells: August Moon.

    Who Is August Moon?

August Moon is the fictional band in the new Amazon Prime movie,
The Idea Of You, directed by Michael Showalter and starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine. Based on the novel by Robinne Lee, “The Idea Of You” was fashioned after Harry Styles and his rumored love for older women. The internet has already been abuzz comparing Galitzine’s Hayes Campbell to Styles- the patchwork tattoos, the One Direction-inspired photoshoots and mannerisms, and of course the British accent.

24-year-old lead singer Hayes meets 40-year-old Solene (Hathaway) at
Coachella (where else?) and sparks fly. If you want to read more about what happens in the trailer, check out our recap here!

    Just like
Daisy Jones & The Six,August Moon will be releasing their music on streaming platforms across the world. Their first song, “Dance Before We Walk”, was featured in the trailer today.

The song itself isn’t as bad as I anticipated, it’s reminiscent of British synth indie pop made popular by bands like The 1975. Singing alongside
Galitzine, there’s Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White, and Dakota Andan. And it looks like that won’t be the last of August Moon!

The band has also just activated an Instagram account (and it already has over 5k followers), so it truly looks like they’re taking the Daisy Jones approach. The hype surrounding any band mirroring One Direction is huge, and it only amplifies when the lead singer is played by a current Hollywood heartthrob who’s seemingly in
    everything.

You can listen to “Dance Before We Walk” here:

    Genre Romantic Drama

Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.

First Look: Is “The Idea of You” Based on Harry Styles? Actually, Yes.

    [ad_1]

Run, don’t walk, to watch The Idea of You trailer, which gives us our first look at the steamy romance based on none other than Harry Styles. Starring Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, Eileen, The Princess Diaries) and Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue, Bottoms, Mary and George).

This film is like if your mom stole your Wattpad moment. The Idea of You follows Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with her daughter’s favorite pop star. She goes from begrudgingly chaperoning her daughter to Coachella to meeting, to falling for, 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of a band, August Moon, based on One Direction.

That’s just where the story begins. The film takes us through their whirlwind romance as Solène wrestles with her unexpected passion for a man almost half her age and the media attention that comes with him. Oh the things we do for boys who play guitar.

I’m expecting something that feels like a mix of After (the original Harry Styles-inspired story), A Star is Born, Fifty Shades of Grey, and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. It’s also been compared to Daisy Jones & The Six (by us … we compared it to that). The trailer just dropped and it teases a film that will no doubt be a thrilling ride.

The Idea of You trailer is out now. Watch it here:

The Idea of You – Official Trailer | Prime Videowww.youtube.com

What is The Idea of You based on?

There are many reasons this film has been generating buzz ever since the project was announced. The craziest reason is also the most compelling: it’s kind of about Harry Styles — with a little inspo taken from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, too. Sounds absolutely bonkers? It is. But it’s more than just fan service — this film promises to stand on its own.

The Idea of You is based on a bestselling novel by Robinne Lee. Before her turn as a bestselling novelist, Robinne Lee was an actress. You might recognize her for her roles Hitch, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. So no surprises that she ended up writing this steamy novel.

Though it was released in 2017, the book became a hit during the pandemic — famous for its surprising and emotionally tumultuous ending. Of course, the source material also got readers hooked. Lee has confirmed in interviews that she was inspired to write the book after stumbling across a One Direction video. Many fan fiction writers have been there, too.

But unlike teens on Wattpad or AO3, Lee’s book is about more than just lust — though there is a lot of that, too. The book is about a woman in her 40s rediscovering her sexuality and feeling desirable. Sure, the story might have gotten its roots when Lee realized that Styles has dated his fair share of older women (and this was before the messiness of the Don’t Worry Darling press tour that deserves its own movie), but it’s really a dramatic tale about how women get overlooked as they age. One that says hey, you’re still just one Coachella ticket away from the hottest relationship of your life — no matter your age.

While the adaptation reimagines the characters and tells the story in the spirit of the novel — so don’t expect a line by line reenactment — fans are hoping the book’s spirit and wrenching ending is realized fully in the new film.

    The Idea of You Cast

Alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway (who is also a producer on the film with Gabrielle Union), The Idea of You stars Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Mathilda Gianopoulos, Raymond Cham Jr., Jaiden Anthony, Viktor White, and Dakota Adan.

    The Idea of You Soundtrack

While it’s definitely not a musical, this film is based on a boyband and one of the most famous musicians in the world. To give fans the full experience, Nicholas Galitzine gets to show off his singing in the film’s full Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which will be available in tandem with the film’s release.

Nicholas Galitzine is no stranger to singing on camera. His first major roles in Handsome Devil and The Beat BeneathMy Feet saw him clutching a guitar. He also played the Prince in Amazon’s jukebox musical adaptation of Cinderella alongside Camilla Cabello. Most notably, fans know him for his TikTok covers and guitar playing, making him perfect for this Harry Styles-esque character. Wherever they’re making these charming, singing Brits — take me there.

The film follows the couple through the superstar’s tour with his boyband, August Moon, so of course there’s lots and lots of original music. The first song, “Dance Before We Walk”, was featured in the trailer. Just like Daisy Jones & The Sixand A Star Is Born, this is sure to be a soundtrack to remember. The band has also just activated an Instagram account (and it already has over 5k followers), so you can follow along on Instagram.

  • Jennifer Lopez’s New Doc Is Less About Ben Affleck and More About Self-Love

Jennifer Lopez’s New Doc Is Less About Ben Affleck and More About Self-Love

    [ad_1]

    Amazon MGM Studios
    Amazon MGM Studios

If you had a hard time understanding Jennifer Lopez’s recent music video project “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” her documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” might answer some of your questions. In the doc, Lopez shares that the inspiration behind both “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story” and her ninth studio album, “This Is Me… Now” (both of which released on Feb. 16), was to finally set the record straight about her love life.

“I’ve been married four times now. I’m sure people watching from the outside were like, ‘What is this girl’s fucking problem?’ You saw kind of a compulsive behavior,” Lopez says in the documentary’s introduction. “What I portrayed to the world was, ‘Oh this didn’t work out and it’s fine and I’m good and they’re good.’ And all of that was kind of bullshit.”

The documentary goes behind the scenes in the making of both the film and the album, and Lopez also walks viewers down the last two decades of her personal life. She admits all those back-to-back marriages and relationships were a result of not being good with herself.

“I didn’t think much of myself. So the world didn’t think much of me. That lined up,” she says in tears.

    Amazon MGM Studios

She also reveals that part of the inspiration behind her self-financed multimedia project was getting back with the love of her life and now-husband, Ben Affleck, who appears in both the musical (as an incognito character) and the documentary. Lopez shares that she was completely devastated after their 2004 breakup because she felt like she didn’t just lose the love of her life but also the best friend she’d ever had. The public scrutiny that followed only made things worse.

Similarly to the musical film, the documentary touches on Lopez’s love life for the past 20 years, the reason she was in constant search for love, and her love story with Affleck. But more importantly, it highlights her self-love journey and explores why it took her so long to get to a better relationship with herself.

“‘This Is Me… Now’ is about truth and facing the truth of who you really are and embracing that, and the truth is I’m not the same as I was 20 years ago,” she says.

In the documentary, Lopez shares how being the middle child made her constantly feel a need to show her parents and family that she had value and worth. She felt ignored by her dad, who was always working, and her mom, whom she claims was always the center of attention. Feeling emotionally neglected forced her to become hardworking and disciplined, she says, and somewhere down the line she started seeking the love she didn’t feel she received growing up from men.

    Amazon MGM Studios

At first, it was hard for me to believe that Lopez isn’t the same person she was 20 years ago — at least when it comes to her love life and her need to constantly be in a romantic relationship. When have we ever seen her single? Very shortly after her breakup with baseball star Alex Rodriguez in 2021, she was already being publicly seen with Affleck. Can someone really get over their fear of being alone and their need to constantly be in partnership without ever taking a significant break from dating? I’d argue no. But in the doc, Lopez admits there was a period when she did finally embrace singlehood.

In the musical, there’s a scene where Fat Joe, who plays her fictional therapist, asks her if she has “ever considered being alone for a minute.” Her incognito character begins to break down in tears. Lopez admits in the documentary that the scene with Fat Joe parallels an actual conversation she had with a therapist.

“I used to be terrified to be alone,” Lopez shares. “I didn’t know what I was going to do by myself. Who was going to take care of me? Who was going to protect me? This one therapist said to me, ‘Can you be alone?’ And I was like, ‘I can do it. I can be alone. I can be alone. I’ll be alone until Christmas.’”

Lopez’s therapist suggested she erase everyone from her phone who might pose temptation. According to Lopez, she listened and took some significant time to be alone and address whatever it was she needed to heal — like feeling emotionally abandoned as a child.

It’s been easy for some fans to dismiss Lopez’s recent projects — the film, the album, and the doc — as silly or unnecessary. But I couldn’t help but empathize with her after having more insight into her journey and the things she’s struggled with when it comes to love and relationships. I now believe Lopez when she says she took the time to be alone and heal — whenever that was.

Ultimately, it’s clear that investing $20 million in this project was for herself, not for fans or viewers. Documenting her own journey was more a therapeutic act of self-love than anything else. Lopez likely didn’t put out these projects to be nominated for awards or because she believes they’ll be major hits; she put them out because they were the final process in her healing journey.

If these projects do anything, I hope they inspire viewers struggling with self-worth to take the time to reflect, heal, and give themselves the self-love they’ve always deserved. Because at the end of the day, the only love that we can guarantee in this life is the love we can give ourselves.

  • ‘Reacher’ Doesn’t Seem To Be Stopping Any Time Soon

‘Reacher’ Doesn’t Seem To Be Stopping Any Time Soon

    [ad_1]

Season two of Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher just ended, and fans are already wondering if they’ll get a third season.

In 2022, season one of Reacher brought the best-selling book series by Lee Child to life. Although fans had to wait until the end of 2023 for season two, it seems to be worth the wait. Reacher is currently the top-streamed show on Amazon, and it’s easy to see why. There are mysteries to solve and a lot of butt-kicking action to enjoy. Alan Ritchson, who also starred as Hank Hill/Hawk in Titans, plays the titular Jack Reacher, and he means business when it comes to bad guys stepping out of line.

Reacher, a former U.S. Army military policeman, lives the life of a vagabond, only stopping when the action compels him. He may have bulging muscles that could make him look like a bit of a himbo, but he’s got enough brains to solve crimes and spout witty quips. He’s the complete package. As Reacher wraps up season 2, does that mean we’ll have to say goodbye?

Related: Is Joe Cruz leaving ‘Chicago Fire?’ on We Got This Covered?

Is there going to be a season 3 of Reacher?

With the current popularity of the show, it’s safe to say that fans would love to see another season of Reacher. Luckily, that wish will come true. Before season two premiered, Amazon revealed at CCXP in early December that the show already has the green light for a third season. So, we’ll get to see Jack Reacher settling things his way for at least one more adventure.

Before Reacher and his team got revenge at the end of season 2, news about season 3 already leaked. In an interview with The Messenger, Child discussed the production had chosen the book choice for the new season.

“We felt we needed a book that was more Reacher alone for the third season. And so it was a question of which story would work best for that, and which one would have a great opening scene and all of that, and we found one that we loved.”

To add to Child’s comments, Ritchson said this book is “on every Top 10 list.” Now Variety confirmed season three will be based on the seventh book in the series, Persuader. In Persuader Reacher seeks revenge on an old enemy while diving into the world of organized crime. Variety also noted one character from the first two seasons shall return, Frances Neagley (Maria Sten). Neagley is the closest thing Reacher has to a best friend, especially in the show, so it makes sense she will appear, even though she is not featured in the novel.

Only a few days ago, Ritchson posted on social media the production for season 3 is underway. That means we’ll be seeing more of Reacher sooner rather than later.

As long as the show maintains its viewership, it could go on for years. The source material spans 28 books and several short stories. Since the novels don’t deal with an overly impactful timeline, the show can adapt them in whatever order it sees fit. For example, the first season came from the first novel, Killing Floor, yet the second season took from the eleventh novel, Bad Luck and Trouble. Plus, author Lee Child plans to continue writing Jack Reacher’s story before passing the writing duties off to his younger brother, Andrew Child. It looks like Reacher will be punching hard for some time to come.

  • Citadel Season 2 Release Window, Cast, Plot. And More

Citadel Season 2 Release Window, Cast, Plot. And More

    [ad_1]

    Prepare to storm the citadel!

And by “storm” I mean “infiltrate covertly”. Like a spy! Or a ninja! After all, it would be in keeping with the espionage theme of the show. Just gotta take notes from the Forger family in Spy x Family! Maybe fork over some cash and buy a spy balloon! Anything to be on theme here. After all, what better way to show this espionage thriller series some love than by dressing up in black from head to tow and suction-cupping my way up the walls of my neighbor’s house to climb in through the unlatched second-floor window, tip-toe my way into the den (but not before raiding the fridge), and binging the entirety of Citadel season 1 in preparation for the second? That’s called being a real fan.

When will season 2 be released?

I’ll be breaking into my neighbor’s house quite a lot this year because the second season of Citadel will most likely be released in 2025. But don’t blame them! It’s a big series! High-budget action sequences don’t shoot themselves overnight! In the meantime, I’ll be binge-watching the spinoff series Diana, covert ops style. You know, with binoculars that see directly into the living room of the house across the street.

    What is Citadel about?

Citadel is a spy thriller series about the death knells of the now-defunct global spy agency Citadel. The organization was taken down, and now it and its agents are nothing but a memory. But not even that! Because the former Citadel agents’ memories have been wiped! The Manticore crime syndicate has come in to fill the Citadel-shaped hole that the former spy organization left and is gaining power. Now two former Citadel agents are coming together to reclaim their past and fight for a Manticore-free future! Hooray! To thicken this already oatmeal-consistency plot, those two former spies were once lovers. But they don’t remember a thing! Or do they?

Season 1 ended with one of the spies reclaiming all of his memories. And not all of them are good. In fact, he learns to his chagrin that HE was the mole responsible for taking Citadel down. Oops. Not only that, he now remembers that he was Nadia’s lover. But he doesn’t want to admit it because he’d also have to tell her that he betrayed her and their organization.

    Who’s who in the cast?

Richard Madden plays Mason Kane, a former Citadel spy agent, and Nadia’s lover. He is also known as Kyle Conroy, which is his identity after his memories were erased. Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Nadia Sinh, who now goes by Charlotte Vernon, a restaurant manager in Valencia after her memories were erased. They are joined by Ashleigh Cummings as Abby Conroy, who is Kyle’s wife (drama). She was once known as Celeste Graham, another former Citadel spy (more drama). They are joined by Roland Møller as Anders/Davik Silje, Osy Ikhile as Carter Spence, Caoilinn Springall as Hendrix Conroy, “Kyle” and “Abby’s” daughter, Lesley Manville as Manticore Agent Dahlia Archer, and Stanley Tucci as Bernard Orlick.

    Is there a trailer?

    For your spy eyes only.
