  • Aamir Khan Admits He Avoided Becoming a Producer Due to His Father | Filmfare.com

Aamir Khan’s journey as a Bollywood producer started in 2001, yet he initially aimed to avoid this role, influenced by his father, Tahir Hussain. He was strongly against producing, due to the huge risks and difficulties associated with it.

Recently, Aamir joined trade expert Komal Nahta on his podcast where he discussed his reservations about becoming a producer, a decision he made after observing his father’s difficulties in the profession. Aamir said, “Mujhe lagta hai jab maine apne father ka career dekha first-hand jab main chhota tha, toh mujhe realise hua mujhe producer kabhi nahi banna hai. Kyunki sabse zyada mehnat aapki hoti hai, risk aap le rhe ho, paise aap laga rhe ho, aur sirf aap gaaliyaan kha rhe ho (I think when I saw my father’s career firsthand when I was young, I realised I never wanted to be a producer. Because you put in the most effort, take all the risks, invest your own money, and end up taking all the flak). Often, your team doesn’t cooperate with you, and my father’s film Locket took 8 years to make. Seeing all this, I thought, “I have become an actor, my career has taken off, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is a hit, why do I need to be a producer?”

Aamir mentioned that early in his career, he had initially declined the prospect of becoming a producer during his first interviews. He shared, “If you read my early interviews, people would ask me if I would ever produce, and I’d say never. I’d do anything else, definitely direct, I’m already acting, but would never produce. These were my categorical statements, you should never make such categorical statements.”

Aamir Khan stepped into film production with his 2001 film Lagaan, eventually supporting projects including Taare Zameen Par, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Peepli (Live), Dhobi Ghat, Delhi Belly, Dangal, and Laal Singh Chaddha.

    Aamir Khan

Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj says he is ‘huge fan’ of Aamir Khan; shares if they are planning a film together

Lokesh Kanagaraj is a filmmaker known for helming movies like Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. While he has worked with several biggies of the South Indian film industry, the acclaimed director intends to collaborate with Bollywood star Aamir Khan. In a recent interview, Lokesh stated that he is a huge fan of Mr Perfectionist, adding that there are chances of them working together.

Lokesh Kanagaraj spoke with The Hollywood Reporter India about his journey in the film industry, his experiences working with stars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and his upcoming potential collaborations. When quizzed about whether he is thinking of working with Aamir Khan soon, the Leo director stated that they’re talking.

He further added, “I am a huge fan of Aamir Khan” stating that when his last movie Laal Singh Chaddha released, the Bollywood star called him and they watched the film in Chennai. Not just that, Lokesh also gave him feedback on Advait Chandan’s comedy-drama film and stated what he liked about the 2022 film.

After that, whenever the two get some time in Mumbai or Chennai, they try to meet and even have conversations about films. “There are chances, but I have commitments. So, if everything goes well, then why not (work) on a concept? I’d love it,” the South Indian filmmaker concluded on a positive note.

Recently, the Master director attended the screening of the Kavin-starrer movie Bloody Beggar. During the event, he was quizzed about making Leo 2 with Thalapathy Vijay. Responding to the query, he stated that only ‘Vijay Anna’ could decide that. If he agrees, he will definitely make the anticipated film.

His question has been visiting the minds of cinema lovers especially because the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo ended on a cliffhanger. Viewers were convinced that a sequel to the blockbuster film was in the making. While that still remains a mystery, Lokesh clarified at the same press event that the shoot for the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is progressing smoothly, with only two more schedules left to wrap.

The film is also set to feature veteran stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao in key roles. However, the audience will have to wait a little longer to finally know the movie’s release date.

  • Twinkle Khanna ‘loved’ Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies; shares post featuring movies where women defied ‘patriarchy’

Twinkle Khanna ‘loved’ Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies; shares post featuring movies where women defied ‘patriarchy’

Kiran Rao’s recently released movie Laapataa Ladies has moved the country from its core. Set in rural India, this comedy-drama is the story of three individuals – Phool Kumari (Nitanshi Goel), Jaya (Pratibha Ranta), and Deepak Kumar (Sparsh Shrivastav). When the lives of these three intertwine, it treats the audience with a warmth that is hard to erase or fade. Twinkle Khanna has now praised the same.

What did Twinkle Khanna say about Laapataa Ladies?

The former actress and author took to her Instagram stories and shared a reel which was titled, ‘8 movies where women kick patriarchy in the bum’. The video began with naming Laapataa Ladies as the first on the list. Twinkle had captioned her story, ‘Loved Laapataa Ladies’. Kiran Rao reshared the same in her story and shared three emojis – a smile, a white heart, and a flower.

    More about Laapataa Ladies

This movie marked the comeback of Kiran Rao in the director’s seat after almost a decade since she helmed Dhobi Ghat (2011). The movie in reference didn’t really pull any gender or strata of society but in a satirical way uplifted the stories of women. Recently, Kiran spoke about the same to Scroll and shared, Comedy disarms and charms you, as opposed to talking down to you. Comedy lets you have these conversations in the guise of amusing you.”

According to her the best way to have a conversation is with empathy and humour. She admitted that the issues she spoke about in the film have already been discussed before but because things didn’t change over time, these conversations must continue.

She added, “Biplab (writer)’s script was ripe with potential to explore all these different ideas and to build characters that were grey and fun and familiar in one way, but also surprising.” Laapataa Ladies also featured some of the finest actors in supporting roles including Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam among others.

Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, the Laapataa Ladies’ album has been composed by Ram Sampath and is available to stream on Netflix. It enjoys an IMDb rating of 8.5/10.
